Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

javabeans

Age of Youth 2: I can’t say I’m happy that a scandal forced a cast member out of this show, but Lee Yoo-jin is so natural and perfect that I can’t imagine anybody else playing this character better (I have the feeling that Onew would have felt affected in this role, not quite as naturally awkward and twitchy). I’m actually surprised at how much more I like the show this season compared to last (which I liked very much); if you gave me sixteen hours of this all at once, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be compelled to hit “pause” once.

Rescue Me: I know it shouldn’t matter, but even if nothing else were to change about the show, I feel like it works better if I mentally think of Dong-chul as the hero and Sang-hwan as the ineffectual second lead who means well but can’t get anything done. Maybe that makes Dong-chul even more tragic as a second lead since I don’t think the show will sideline Taec; it just doesn’t work for me quite the way it was intended.

My Golden Life: Can you still enjoy a drama if you don’t want the main couple to get together? And I’m not even rooting for Mr. Second Lead, either, so basically there’s no romantic pull for me. The sisters are charming, but I don’t feel anything for their love lives. Is it too late to bring in two more dudes to liven up the lovelines?

Criminal Minds: Yup, still more of the same. Serial killers on the loose, a bunch of people psychoanalyzing them.

girlfriday

Rescue Me: I’m. So. Terrified. *watches rest of show through fingers*

Age of Youth 2: Man, does this show know how to make people’s trauma and pain feel real. They’re dealt with so mundanely, which is part of the punch. I’m really liking Ye-eun’s storyline this season as she recovers from her PTSD, and I especially love the quiet way that Eun is there for her, just making sure that she never walks home alone.

Falsify: This was always a show designed to lead to one big showdown between the corrupt and the truth-seekers, and it wrapped up neatly with satisfying doses of justice where we needed it. I just think overall I would’ve cared more if we didn’t have quite so many good guys, splitting all of the focus. The one thing this show lacked was a deep investment in a single character’s life outside of the revenge/conspiracy plot, which would’ve done wonders.

Lingerie Girls’ Generation: Cute. I only caught the first episode, but it’s an endearing throwback youth drama, and the heroine is bubbly and relatable, so I can see myself binge-watching this very quickly, especially since it’s only eight episodes long.

HeadsNo2

Falsify: Moo-young has always been a tough character to get on board with (kind of like all the characters), but this week, he was downright insufferable. He literally cannot get over his own revenge to look at the bigger picture, which is what everyone else is putting themselves on the line to do. Sure, he helps them out, but it’s only for his own gain, and it’s really beginning to bug me that he can’t go without angry-crying for just one episode when he feels someone has betrayed him by not telling him information that they knew he’d do foolish things with. Maybe they’d tell you sooner if they knew you weren’t going to be a douche about it.

Reunited Worlds: [Insert tumbleweed]

Rescue Me: I loved all the new developments and twists this week, even if Sang-mi’s fate is even more uncertain than before. Somehow it was even creepier that her wedding dress was black when she’s supposed to be this symbol of feminine chastity and virtue, and I like that her impending (though hopefully stoppable) “wedding” with Father Baek is seeming more and more like a wedding to Satan himself. This drama’s darkness feeds my dark, dark soul. ♥

Manhole: I kind of hate that instead of giving Pil an actual growth arc in an opportunity tailor-made for him to relive and relearn the same important lessons, they’re going to give him an easy out by making his rival a psychopath. It’d be so much more meaningful if Jae-hyun were an actual threat to Pil without being some creep, which would mean that Pil would have to actually step his game up. But now all he has to do is reveal this controlling maniac for who he really is, and at the end of the day, what have we accomplished?

The King Loves: No, he doesn’t. He doesn’t love anyone! He doesn’t know what love is!

tineybeanie

Currently recapping: Falsify

The King Loves: Rinnnnn! You have to come back! No excuses.

Hospital Ship: Nuuuu. Why is this so bad? Ha Ji-won is the absolute best, so it almost physically hurts me inside that the drama is a snoozefest. They can never get the funny bits to make me laugh, and there’s too many parent-child angsty relationships that I find it hard to invest myself in even one.

Rescue Me: Wow, this is much much much more awesome that I thought it would be. The guy who is infiltrating the cult is amazing at acting; his sharp eyes are definitely swoonworthy; I think I may have found my next Kim Woo-bin. I don’t care about Taec or his sideplot political father, but Sang-mi and that guy are great. Lee David is being heavily underutilized though; he’s just showing up as a stooge, when we already know he’s capable of so much more.

◾◾ No Dramas : K-shows for the win ㅋㅋㅋ
◾ I think it’s official, I’m in a drama slump -_- , K-shows for the win ?
I haven’t watched a single drama ep this week. Maybe for this weekend or next week, I’ll watch Strongest Deliveryman ep11,12 (and 13-14 ?) & the 2 last ep of Falsify. After that, I don’t have any interest in beginning an airing drama, so I’ll go with some sageuks : Rebel Thief has been delayed due to Produce 101 S2 marathon ?.

◾◾ K-shows
◾ 1st week w/o Infinite challenge & I live alone, next week no more 1n2d??? , maybe it’s time for me to watch 1n2d S1 ?. Fighting to strike members ?, hope things will change !
◾ 1n2d Ep192: Another funny ep with 3G vs LTE team. When a mere flying bottle cap game became so intense and oh so funny : Dong Gu still got the beginner’s luck and Jong Min’s first prayer worked ㅋㅋㅋ. Dong Gu is now following Jun Ho steps: him teasing Jun Ho is so so funny, poor eldest have now to deal with Jong Min, Joon Yung & Dong Gu ?. After 3G lost the game, Jong Min said in the bus “ the moment the team was formed we had lost” indeed it was just history repeating itself ? . Tae Hyun managed to ask Jun Ho to buy dakgalbi for him before leaving : ? but we’ll never know if he bought it or not ?. Jun Ho’s bad luck is so strong that in top of doing the marathon, he had to push the staff car which couldn’t go up the hill ?.
◾ It’s Dangerous Beyond The Blankets ep3 and the END ? : I started this show after seeing it by chance, I didn’t know it was a pilot with only 3 eps ? ? . My favorite moments of ep3 : Xiumin losing at Jenga and Daniel being shy while Xiumin was watching his 5 best perf. in front of him ?. It’s a nice show, it was awkward to relate to some introvert moments ?, but I had fun watching it. I hope they will do more eps in the future, hoping that all guests arrive and leave at the same time.
◾ Knowing Brother E92 : I don’t know many of Hyuna songs, so I’ve watched the ep for the Night Goblin members : it was nice to see Park Sung Kwang, Lee Su Geun and even Hee Chul taking care of goblin baby Kim Jong Hyun ?. Park Sung Kwang’s stories esp. his 6 proposals received were very funny ?.
◾ Night goblin ep6&7 : Two eps for a Busan special and they had three missions. Lee Hong Gi & Park Sung Kwang competing for the main MC title was funny, but they have to face the fact that Jung Hyung Don and Lee Su Geun are the main MCs ?. Kim Jong Hyun losing his mind and trying different answers while lying on the ground was so funny, he surprised the other members. That’s why this show is funny : they’re so tired that they don’t know what they’re doing : true material for K-show ?. They faced their 1st crisis : people were waiting before them for the tickets, BUT all they had to do was being the 1st to take the cable car. BGM 2pm Again & again when the staff explained they have to try each week until they succeed was so funny ?.
◾ HyoRi’s homestay ep11 & 12: Lovely, funny, healing, it’s a show that I’m going to miss ?, just 2 eps left. Many good moments as usual, I’ll just quote Lee Sang Soon “Life is a dumpling” ? .

Hey, thanks for mentioning "It's Dangerous Beyond the Blankets". I didn't know this show existed but based on your (and Gledis Sotiri's) comments, I decided to check it out. I really enjoyed it, and I hope it gets more episodes.

◾◾ K-shows : Produce 101 S2 & Wanna One special post ?
◾ Wanna One go ep1-2 : Many hilarious moments, my favorite couple : Saranghae couple ? (Kim Jae Hwan’s laugh in the Viking boat + him teasing Hwang Min Hyun and enjoying the string getting reduced ?, and Hwang Min Hyun being the only one to enjoy the punishment of being in charge of the cleaning ?) , and no.2 couple is OngNiel is science ‘cause it’s for science ?.
◾ While watching Produce 101 S2, I was wondering how they were going to manage a group with trainees from different agencies ? but I didn’t take time to find out more information about that. Then in Wanna One go ep1 the members talked about staying in the dorm together for a year and a half. I found it strange that it was a specific period of time, so after consulting Google friend ?…. I found out (so late?‍♀️) that from the beginning Wanna One was bound to disband at the end of 2018 ?. Had I known that before, I wouldn’t have watched and reacted to the show the same way ?. FYI I had written my following post for Produce 101 S2 before watching Wanne One Go and finding out the disbandment already planned.
◾ Produce 101 S2 E6-11 : Trainee to follow (per ep) ?: Lai Guan Lin (ep6), Kim Jae Hwan & Ha Seung Woon (ep7), Yoo Hwi Seung (ep8, can’t believe how much he gained confidence !), Yoo Seon Ho & Jung Se Woon (ep9). It was funny I checked my “trainees to follow” list twice or three times because I wanted to add Park Woo Jin, but each time I was like “Oh no, I forgot I already had 11 members” ?, so Park Woo Jin is my joker trainee to follow ?. Last week, Ong Seung Woo left a strong impression on me in ep1, then in ep2 it was Daniel, I couldn’t decide so there were both no.1 ?, BUT in ep8 I finally found out why Ong Seung Woo was called the king of embarrassment, and guess what : after that there was no doubt left : Ong Seung Woo for the win of no.1 ? (congrats you’re the center for me?) ! After that, his charms kept getting better : slate guy & his “really really daebak real heol thank you” killed me ?.
Icing on the cake from ep 9 : can we talk about Lai Guan Lin & Yoo Seon Ho Troublemaker dance : this is hilarious, their gazes, the choreo , omo omo I’m dying of laughter ?

Omygoshh another beanie whos a fan of pD101 and wanna one. Yayy!
i marathoned PD101 S2 about a week ago and since then all ive been doing is watching every show/ video clips with wanna one and other PD101 trainees. And like you, I didnt know about the whole 1.5 year contract before i started watching so every now and then I get really sad :(

Since Ong is your center, I just wanted to point out that his name is Ong Seong (성) Woo, not Ong Seung (승) Woo.

One of the benefits of not watching Produce 101 S2 live is getting to avoid all the real-life drama. Every day was another scandal (Han Jong Yeon, Ha Min Ho, cheating feat. cat emojis ?). Every day was another witch-hunt (Lee Dae Hwi, Kwon Hyun Bin, Ahn Hyung Seob, Im Young Min, Joo Hak Nyeon). It was physically painful to witness their controversies change their personalities 180 degrees to the point where they stopped talking and even stopped smiling. ? Which makes me extremely relieved they're all doing so well now (Wanna One, JBJ, Yuehua's impending debut and Mischievous Detectives web drama with Yoo Seon Ho, MXM, The Boyz, respectively).

I take it you and Millionstars didn't watch Produce 101 S1 with I.O.I? Downpour was I.O.I's disbandment song. Were Kim Jae Hwan and Ha Sung Woon your trainees to follow in ep7 due to their emotional Downpour performance? The reason why Wannables are so psychotic (read: embarrassing) is because fans only have a year and a half with Wanna One.

Honestly speaking, its been about 4/5 years since I stopped actively following Kpop (im more of a kdrama person) so when my friend asked me to watch PD101 S2 few months ago I was like "No". Those numerous scandals I saw on my fb feeds really put me off of the show before even I started watching it. Then few weeks ago, I have no idea what took over me(maybe I can blame the kdrama slump) but i started watching PD101 and I was totally hooked. Although I could have googled the results, I didn't so it really felt like I was watching it live.
I'm just glad that majority of them seem to be a step closer to fulfilling their dream.
And lol dont all KPOP groups have those few crazy fans???
can we please talk about how extra ong seongwoo is?lol Its funny how I was initially drawn to him because of how charismatic and cool he looked but now I'd say the reason he's my bias is because of this extraness.

My Wanna One dream team ? (joker included ?, or let’s say I prefer even numbers ㅋㅋㅋ) + my ranking :
1. Ong Seung Woo (jeongmal jeongmal jinjia real daebak heol wanjeon ??) so talented ?, funny, charismatic and more let’s end with constellation moles : killing part ? , it reminds me of Seo In Guk ?
2. Kim Jae Hwan : he has to be the main vocal of my Wanna One dream team ?. If I may add : an independent trainee who changed so much & made a comeback from ~70th rank ? + his laugh in ep10 ? and he might have a 4D personality : I love this guy ?!
3. Kang Daniel : so talented, cute and lovely ?. I was skeptical about why everyone talked about him, now I know why ?
4. Jung Se Woon : talented, witty, nice guy and… I didn’t see it at first, but after the moment I saw the resemblance with Lee Seung Gi , I was constantly thinking : they look alike but so do their voices and personalities !
5. Yoo Seon Ho : chick trainee ??, when we saw him doing too much skinship and making Hwang Min Hyun uncomfortable : that killed me, cuteness overload !
6. Lai Guan Lin he changed so much, he can be so cute and also he has that charismatic vibe
7. Yoo Hwi Seong to see him changed and gained confidence : you’ve got the talent, fighting ?
8. Park Ji Hoon : another very talented guy, secret weapon ? ㅋㅋㅋ
9. Yoon Ji Sung : the happy pill in Produce 101 , but then with his 7 years as a trainee, I couldn’t help thinking “tears of a clown” ?: I was so glad that he was one of the Wanna One members I remember : I was able to watch the show w/o stressing for him because I knew that against all odds he had won ?
10. Hwang Min Hyun : soft voice and so handsome, no.1 for the visual ? in my dream team ?
11. Ha Sung Woon : my 2nd main vocal ?!
12. Park Woo Jin : talented and I’m not into rap but wow just wow ? ? ?, my joker ㅋㅋㅋ

◾◾ Produce 101 S2 Global review :
◾Back to a month ago : I was watching School 2017 and suffering from a severe Tae Fever ??, so while waiting for the subs I tried to fool my brain, that’s how I started to watch Happy Together ep with Wanna One, I thought “they’re the hot topic right now and they’re handsome so that’ll be enough to fool my brain and kill time while waiting for the subs” ?. I watched the 1st ep and laughed a lot, so the two weeks after I watched the other two eps. I also watched some videos of their boyfriend segment from SNL Korea.
◾Now back to the Produce 101 S2 review ?: I’m glad that a month after my weakness : low capacity to remember names and faces helped me while watching Produce 101 S2, here’s why : I didn’t remember all the members, just some names and the faces of : Kang Daniel, Ong Seung Woo, Park Ji Hoon, Hwang Min Hyun, Yoon Ji Sung, Dae Hwi & Jin Young. When I picked my “trainee to follow” for ep1 to 5 , I was influenced by that BUT for the other 7 “trainees to follow” I picked, I didn’t remember if they had won or not. So after finishing each ep, I googled the name to see if the “trainee to follow” made it or not : I was so happy finding out that Lai Guan Lin, Kim Jae Hwan, Ha Sung Woon & Park Woo Jin made it ! But I was also sad to find out that these 3 didn’t make it through :
1. Yoo Seon Ho (but consolation ? : I can watch “10cm -Pet” MV whenever I want to see him and a puppy : cuteness overload ?)
2. Yoo Hwi Seong ? (but consolation ? : he’s going to debut joining a band : N.flying)
3. Jung Se Woon? (argh no.12 ?, but consolation ? : he has debuted….solo ! I’m so happy because solo suits him better ?, and being in a band wasn’t the end game for him but more a step to reach his dream of being a music company CEO ? , that was his answer in ep2 ? to “do you want to be an idol or a singer?” from BoA) His album is very good ? and he reminds me of Yoo Seung Woo ?
◾ Knowing some Wanna One members (and having the possibility to check my “trainee to follow” after each ep) allowed me to watch the show w/o too much stress, but I was still stressing for them. Even if I knew or could check who made it or not, I didn’t know their rank, there are two plot twists that made me so so so happy ?: Ha Sung Woon getting the no.3 rank in the penultimate rank evaluation ? and Kim Jae Hwan getting the no.4 rank in ep11 ???!!!

◾ Random thoughts (after this already very long post) : I watched this show just after School 2017 end, so I couldn’t help noticing that this is a real youth drama and make some comparisons :
- ◾ if in School 2017 ranks were important for lunch time, here’s ranks meant so much for a trainee : it decides if they could debut now or not ?
- ◾ dreams : Eun Ho dream with her webtoon was similar to a trainee dream to debut with his rank directly linked to the votes received
- ◾ bad guy : after Principal, vice principal and director as main bad guys in School 2017 (along with Bit Na and Hee Chan), here’s I couldn’t help noticing how biased the editing was, I only read some comments regarding that but it seems that Mnet is known for their evil editing . It’s such a pity because that means from the beginning it was biased. Example I loved Kang Daniel & baby Lee Woo Jin BUT there was an ep in which whenever we saw LWJ in his performance, they only showed Kang Daniel reaction : ok to show him once or twice but not the entire time, other trainees were happy and reacted to the perf too. Then there were some behavior from trainees which were disrespectful for their fellow trainees but I knew they were inevitable : they have been trainees for many years and have had their own hardships, that doesn’t justify anything but it makes a lot more sense than Hee Chan desire to show Eun Ho she’s “weak” just for the sake of doing it ?
- ◾ youth, failure & hope : before watching Produce 101 I knew this show wasn’t the best one in term of morals (the concept itself, then add too much focus on sexy moves (dance, lips, expression)), but it represented so much for the trainees : there were many heartbreaking moments : one trying their best but still couldn’t achieve the choreo/sing, trainees having higher ranks because of their popularity even with wrong behavior while some hardworking trainees got lower ranks, elimination time with Pick me piano version ?. There were also heartwarming moments : family support, making new friends, improving oneself and growing up. Hilarious moments between young people : strength contest, quiz, boys fangirling whenever they saw BoA or Hyuna ?. Hope : 11 trainees joined Wanna One but all trainees changed and gained from this experience, for my 3 “trainee to follow” who didn’t make it : 2 are going to debut and for one little chick trainee ? I think it’s just a matter of time. I’ll also see Kim Jong Hyun differently in Night Goblin now that I know more about him. Ultimately being a Wanna One member isn’t the end game, trainees pursuing their dreams and keeping moving on are ?.
◾ Had to mention these two awesome perf. : Sorry sorry by team 2 & Shape of you ?? ? ?

Drama : None

Variety Show :
•Abnormal Summit :
One word, JTBC ruined this masterpiece!
I never watched / heard this show before, but lately I keep hearing awesome things About it and yess it live up to its rave! G11 is super hilarious ! The chemistry between original G11 will be irreplaceable.

I love all of them, Squeky Duck Julian & soft hearted Robin, Flirty Alberto, Gullible innocent Zhang Yuan, Book warm Tyler, Cute Daniel, Fashion Rejected Illa, Flower boy Takuya & Blair♥️

I dont understand why JTBC needs to remove the firs G5 ?? They are the heart of the show?

•I Live Alone : rewatch JJY, Taeyang, Zion T, Dok2 & mostly all my bias oppa eps?
•Battle Trip ep 22, 48 : I watch this for the 1st time, lately I am sucked into travelling show & show that casts foreign Korean. I am super amazed how much hard work they put into to learn Korean language. It triggered my desired for learning korean & settle down/ stay for 1year for intern job there . Any suggestion??

Three Meals a Day S3: Finished it this week with a content heart. I like how the production team let the 3 brothers build their closeness and settle in with their dynamics first by not inviting a guest in this season. It has created many interesting interactions and "deep" conversations.

Three Meals a Day S4: I'm still surprised by all the upgrade provided by the production team. (A car! New oven! Upgraded boat!) Bringing in the guest really made all the difference. I never realized how quiet those 3 men were until Han Ji-min pointed out how they just work without saying a single thing. I can't wait to see what kind of new dynamics the other guests will bring to the team.

Finally VIU has released a chinese subtitle for Argon, which should mean someone will finally provides the english subtitle, right? Right??

Also, good point about how quiet the three of them really are. Shows how much of a genius Na PD is - letting the variety newbies do their own thing, and yet somehow successfully bringing out the best in them in the final product.

Hospitalship: Its warm , touching and funny too. The medical cases are quite realistic although a little exaggerated but hey all medical dramas are exaggerated somehow. Remember how Yong Pal can fix all those bleeding wounds all by himself? This in comparison is more realistic..and the theme of medical dramas is not teach its views about medicine or surgery but to highlight the lives of people involve in these..show their romance, strengths, weaknesses, dreams and hectic routine..The focuses is more on the characters development rather than the surgeries so i like it so far. Age of youth:everything in this drama seems so natural.you can feel every character and guess evey react and why they do it...its as nice as season 1

I am verily empty these week for dramas.

However, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by Borg Mom. The first episode was funny, and it also had a lot of extra things (inc. Sadness, sort-of-mocumentary, goblin parody, extra smart words, cuteness). I like what MBC did with it.

Now onto the week :
Mon-Tue . Not giving a darn about anything. Having my doubts about Temperature of Love. Still waiting for 20th century Boy and Girl.
Wed-Thu. Dropped Manhole (or rather skipping to JJ scenes without subs).
Waiting for While you were sleeping & Mad Dog.
Weekend - Save Me aka In Love with Dong Chul, still loving :P
Age of youth 2- still waiting for end to binge.

Extras - Tunnel - Can't keep a straight face when KS goes fish-out-of-water, like with the navigator.

Variety - Knowing Brother, LSG is the dad I've always wanted, KHC the sister I've always been scared of :P
It's dangerous beyond the blankets - Please more. Please. Please.

My Golden Life: I have a question, how is Lee Tae Hwan there, is he has a big part? I saw him in Father, I’ll Take Care of You and he was cute but kind of wooden.
About PSH: I suppose he and his agency gave a lot of money to get this drama.

Lee Tae-hwan is the second lead and supposed to be a a romantic pair to female lead's sister. He is pretty stiff just like/slightly better than in Father I'll Take Care of You but I only watched first two epi. Park Shi-hoo is a better actor than him, but with his scandal, it's quite hard to watch him leading this kind of drama.

The King Loves is doing weird things to me. I keep trawling the web for anything I can get on the show. Reviews, forums, stream sites comments, BTS and videos. Okay the last one are all Hong Jong Hyun. I'm even writing fanfiction of Rin in my head. Maybe I should watch Moon Lovers so that Wang Yo can kill my obsession?

Rescue Me Finally I am scared of watching the show. Not because of the creep factor but because I am very very afraid that Dong Chul will die.

Age of Youth I was never interested in Ji Won in Season 1 but now I am loving her and her long suffering buddy. I still get weird out by her though. But my most favorite people are Eun and Jang Hoon. I just want to squish them so hard!

And thanks HeadsNo2 for the laugh #tumbleweed

Thanks everyone. I have this feeling about Hong Jong Hyun. He is really good in acting. I couldn't believe he was that cute little 'puppy' from White Christmas when he was so evil in Moon Lovers Scarlet Heart Ryeo. The only thing I dropped with him in was Jungle Fish 2, the series not the special with Kim Soo Hyun, because I could not stand his stuck up character, but it was supposed to be like that.

Thanks to you all I will probably end up watching The King Loves in less than a month, if I like it, when it finishes up!!!

Someone has fallen too deep ? Too bad I can't fangirl with you this time just like with Mori-tae.

Age of Youth -Ji-won was my fav in season 1, but I think Kang Yi-na probably outshone everyone not because she was the best character or Hwa-young the best actress compared to the rest but her storyline was the most interesting and viewers just love 'unusual' type of character/story.. Maybe I'm quite glad she is not around this season. In season 2, Ji-won & Eun are my favs so far. Seems like this season feel a bit different than the last season, on the last season I was easily and quickly connected with all characters but not really this time. Maybe because our girls' problems are not as intriguing as last season, except Ji-won & Eun.

I'm really enjoying Hospital Ship. It's not "the drama of the year" but its nice and warm enough to make you enjoy it.,and I can see why the ratings are good. The subject matter (underfunded hospital ship traveling around helping isolated rural communities) is interesting and grittyat times. The first First glance of romance started from episode 12 And unlike most Korean medical dramas that tend to be "Greys Anatomy"-ish, this drama is focused primarily on the practice of medicine.and how the character personality develope with each patient .Also, I was hesitant about the idols in the drama, but the lead guy is actually doing a decent job playing a subdued role. HJW isalso playing a very different role than she has ever played. She's so serious, cold and closed off all the time, that makes the drama interesting as well.

Girls' Generation 1979: this show eased slightly the pain of missing School 2017. I love the 2 episodes aired so far and I hope the quality of the storytelling holds for the remaining 6 episodes. What can I say, I live for teenage crushes, the disappointment and the heartbreak that follow. And of course the friendship! And the music ??

Live Up to Your Name: Dr Heo was such a douchebag when he revealed Yeon-Kyung's secret on purpose and I'm not sure if I would forgive him that easily if I were her but I have to admit Kim Nam-Gil does brooding well. But I'm glad his walk on the dark side ends this week, yes? (please be right, please be right)

Let's Eat 2: I love Let's Eat S1 and I'm happy that I love Let's Eat 2 more. The food porn is just amazing! Now that I'm done with the show, I'm afraid to weigh myself coz of all the snacking that I did while watching and unlike Su-Ji, I'm never that discliplined in exercising. So looking forward to watching S3.

I'm dying to watch Age of Youth 2 but the lack of subs is deterring me right now, I hope I'm strong enough to wait for all the episodes to be fully subbed before I delve in (but I will miss all the fun commenting with the rest of the beanies ?)

I love both seasons of let's eat too though I think I like the first season more. Probably because it's the first and the I didn't connect with the second season straight away. Plus I loved Lee soo kyung character when she hated the fact that she felt people were bothering her when she was trying to watch walking dead ? though overall I found seo hyun jin weight insecurity more relatable than Lee soo kyung not being able to cook. I was a bit bummed that seo Hyun Jin didn't get a chance to know kwon yul better and see his non work side.

I feel the same with aoy as well. I've been reluctant to start it now as I hate waiting, but I'm really in the mood to watch something light and slice of life so I've watched half of episode 1 and I love it.

Hospital Ship
What is happening with thee. Is it shot live? Someone tell them spending a whole episode trying to convince a patient to undergo a surgery with a chance of survival of less than 10% is stupid. Not worth it, even for a dead parent. The parents are indeed daunting.
I'm trying to stick with it though, my love for the cast and some characters makes it almost worth it to follow their journey to their own stories apart from the legacy of those who gave birth to them.

Also, the good people online are predicting birth secrets- you know those can either kill it or keep it exciting!

In Kdrama logic, undergoing a surgery with less than 10% of survival makes perfect sense because in Dramaland, the chance for the heroine to conquer all unrealistic obstacles to triumph at the end of the day is 100%. Even for a sinking ship, we viewers need our happy endings and how dare does a writer to do so otherwise?

Just three dramas, I'm currently following with strong dedication...

Rescue Me - As always waiting for all of the like-minded people to gather and fight the big, creepy cult in Guseonwon.

Deserving of the Name - Loving the understanding between Yeon-Kyung and Heo Im.

And Strongest Deliveryman - whoo, I love, love, love this show. All the couples so far are so cute and I love that in the pairings, most girls take the initiative in progressing the relationship. Oh and can't believe that with even the lovelines, we still have the exciting business feud between Kang-soo and CEO Jung.

Lol and when I get tired of dramas, I watched Knowing Brother on the side. Gotta love me some crazy Heechul, random Min Kyung Hoon, forever shouting KHD, LSM looking more, and more confident every episode, Young-chul being the no-jam character even tho frankly I laugh at him so much <3 and Lee Soo Geun is just so freaking hilarious.

Time away from DB has let me finish all the shows I've left on hold for so long.
Finally I can say I'm done with:
1. Suspicious Partner- Glad it's over. Only stayed for the lawyer gang and really enjoyed the backstory of our killer. Other than that the couple didn't really make me feel anything. Especially after the noble idiocy part. This drama will slowly fade from my memory...

2. Bride of the Water God- What a waste of 16 hours! Next time I know I'll stay away from the two leads dramas...
Thank god for Im Ji Hwan who just completely nailed it in this role... #plzleadrolenexttime#

3. Forest of Secrets- *happy dance* ahhhhh a show that completely took my heart. Soooo satisfied with the ending. Gonna miss the team a lot! And still reeling from the killer's identity! How could you Mr Yoon! I trusted you...

Also caught up with Strongest Deliveryman and Rescue Me. Only watching these two now. And love them to bits. Although Rescue Me is my fav of the two...can't wait for tonight's eps!!

Reunited Worlds on pause...dunno what happened to this show...it was doing so well...

"Time away from DB has let me finish all the shows I've left on hold for so long."

I can totally relate! There are days I find myself spending more time on Dramabeans than watching actual dramas. Who knew that Dramabeans is like Weightwatchers, it helps us with portion control.

I retract my statement. Even though the recaps help me stay away from some rotten shows, Beanies' Fan Posts are absolute food porn. It only makes me hungry for more dramas that I did not know I want in my diet.

HAHA! That was me a few weeks ago! I was so intent on being active in the fan wall that I let my dramas just sit there. But real life called so I had to put a stop on being too active on the fan wall. Nowadays, I just try to squeeze in all the dramas I've had on pause without starting any new ones.

That's one of the reasons lol! Beanies promote a lot of dramas they are currently enjoying and I tend to succumb and end up watching them all! I haven't been in the fan wall in ages so I feel like there's nothing to watch. Which is a good thing for me I guess. I do try to come back on DB for recaps though even if I don't comment.

Sabu ? , I'm glad to know you had time to watch dramas ;) . Suspicious Partner was funny and interesting in the first half and then like many dramas it lost the appeal.
Regarding Bride of the water god, I watched the 1st ep when it aired, & in the 2nd ep I was already using the fastforward button which I never use because it's the sign I need to drop a drama. So I dropped it, and then seeing the comments from Beanies I don't regret my decision .
Forest of secrets is the best drama this year : it truly delivered for its genre and beyond, good writing, production and very good acting from all the actors ?. It's like Signal in 2016 for me :) .
Strongest deliveryman I have to catch up ep11-12 and this week eps, I don't watch Rescue Me (story not my type).
For Reunited Worlds I lost enough time for it, I watched it until recently mainly for HoBang and Jin Joo but I couldn't stand anymore the bad writing and bad acting : I'll just check the recaps and watch only HoBang and JinJoo scenes when it'll be over ?

Bride-I liked Nam Joo Hyuk in weightlifting so I thought I'll give it a go for him. But he was different here and although it started off cute, I didn't enjoy the overall drama.

FOS- one of the rare dramas that has good everything (writer, cast, production, direction etc.) I'm missing it already...

Don't know if I should watch Reunited Worlds...maybe just for the sake of finishing it...still undecided. Lol

Suspicious Partner would have worked out better with fewer episodes and without the dad drama. The first half was like crack for me.

BotWG: I definitely wasted too much time on it. I finally gave up around episode 12 or 13? I don't think it's the two leads' fault. The writing of the drama was really weak, which was surprising because it's the writer who wrote Misaeng and Arang and the Magistrate. Well, everyone has their flops.

Forest of Secrets was definitely an amazing experience!

I felt like they could have done so much more for ji chang wook and choi tae joints characters.

I love love love ye eun's story right now. In season 1 i liked her but her character was my least favorite of them all but in this season really i love the growth in her character. And her possible love interest, aww he was so cute when he got all excited and called her just so he could continue with his geeky talk ? He'd doing great at portraying his character. I feel bad for onew but I'm so glad to see lee yoo jin again after PD101.
I watched ep 7 yesterday, and I'm a little dissapointed with the airtime song sunbae is getting. She hardly has any scene with sung-min. I feel like they could maybe decrease the time they spend with eun jae a little, so that all 5 girls get a fair amount of airtime every episode.

Yeah, agreed :/ I really love the sisters esp Ji An (oh, Ji An my love. I can't wait to see you again tomorrow with subs). But I can't make myself to like any of the possible lovelines :/

Manhole
I guess I'm dropping it or skimming through until it ends. My interest in its story has hit rock bottom.

Live Up to Your Name
Seems like we'll be back to Joseon again? Will it break my heart even more? Whether I'm ready or not I'll be watching.

Lingerie Girl's Generation
I love the vibe of this show. I like the friendship between the girls, esp the two new friends d'awww. The main lead is good here! I saw her in The Best Hit and wasn't really impressed but here she is likeable <3 Also Dong Moon, oh boy you cutie. I fell for the actor, too.

Kahogo no Kahoko

I mean, the boy infiltrated the group, questioned their "logic" and played his undercover role well. As much as I fear for what's coming as the show unfolds all its creepiness, I am all for Dong-chul, with the help of his friends, to succeed in breaking the organization from within. 깡다구 fighting!

But the thing is I really hate Young Hee's dad, I mean just because Young Hee couldn't be born as a man like her twin brother still you have to treat your children with love (or maybe at that time having a girl is some sort of sin), and from these 2 episodes it looks like her dad has some forbidden romance with the house keeper

Age of Youth is ❤ but I avoid to watch it raw, and thankfully I can wait few days for sub.

Only watched Girls Generation 1979 for current kdrama this week - first two epi was quite good.

The King's Woman - even most viewers watching this drama for main casts' romance which the same case for me too, but without a good plotline I would've dropped this drama already. Next week Li will learn who is her real enemy in the Palace - the problem with her she is smart but sometimes too kind and trust people who is nice to her easily. She is not ambitious, but she has to realize everyone around her is so ambitious. In order to protect her son she needs power. Yin-zheng is still fascinating as a character and even the romance part is quite heavy, this drama isn't sugar coating him that much and despite of fictional romance, this drama still managed to be heavy on historical parts.

Still re-watching King's Daughter and even with second time watching, it still feel so good.

Looking forward to Temperature of Love next week, I just want a watcheable romcom, that's all. Seems like I will be busy again for Mon-Tues, as I think I'll watch all drama in this slot. Maybe that's good as I think my Wed-Thurs slot.will be free.

Code Blue 3 - Ahh. Korean Medical Dramas should learn something. Medical-Kdramas are literally soup-operas with new world of nonsense.

Kahogo no Kahoko - oh ho ho. Popcorn ready
Akira to Akira - WOW.
Dead Stock - 4th episode is subbed. Far better than Save Me.

Girls Generation 1979 - Where is 1979? And whole 1st week circling around 1 Girl. Yeah yeah 7/10. I'm being generous here.

Age of Youth 2 - Dropped - gonna start it next week. Better budget doesn't mean better production.

Live upto Your Name - I need to get acupuncture license. It can get rid of any cancer/tumour/trauma or even genetic disease. 6.5/10

Strongest Deliveryman - This show is full of positivity. And workable individual characters +cute couples.

My Golden Life - Its a FAMILY drama. Don't go everywhere finding Romance. The most annoying part of Kfamilydramas is 3+ kids and Multiple romance plots. Family stuff is completely neglected. This is why i dropped The Father is Strange. 6.5/10

The Man Who Sets the Table - Daily drama got weekend slot. Over-the-top reactions and actions but 2nd old couple story is strong.
Rescue Me - Dropped on 8. Gonna start this lethargic show next week. At best it needed 10 episodes. Too much peddling around simpe stuff. Music Director deserves respect. 6/10

Argon - where are you?
While You were sleeping - Comedy gonna ruin this show

Whoa! Did you really write that, CatoCat? It makes me happy that you have found a show that suits your taste. I like to read your grumpy comments every week so I am delightfully surprised that you like a show that is full of positivity and cuteness Hopefully it won't disappoint in the remaining episodes.

I give your review of Strongest Deliverman 10/10.

Code Blue 3 has started? With the same casts? Then I'm definitely watching it!

I think I could relate to you. I find K-medical dramas are full of hospital politics and romance (and miraculous surgery) rather than the story about the everyday activities saving people (that should have mattered the most) and that's why I find it extremely boring. They always make their characters look so tragic it gave me headache

8 episodes have already aired and 6 have been subbed so far. I find KMdramas and Romance dramas the most regressive content.

I don't know why Hospital seems to draw a lot of negative criticisms, but I find it very interesting, empathic, warm and beautiful. I like that the lead actor, Kang Min Hyun is a beta male, warm, caring and empathetic, a good match for Ha Ji Won's cold character. He's able to thaw out the ice in her, where an alpha male would probably be abrasive and have a clash of egos. But I guess everyone has their own preference....

Rescue Me is not afraid to go dark... I never thought they'd go there in a kdrama...but hey, this is cable!

And The King Loves is breaking my heart. But, fantastic portrayals from Im Siwan and the rest of the cast. Now that I'm Siwan isn't holding himself back anymore, you can see the class of an actor he's become. It's no wonder he made it in Chunguro because he's very talented, very good.

I'm eagerly anticipating Temperature of Love because Dramafever will carry it, and While You are Sleeping because that will be available to Viki Pass Standard subscribers, which I have.

For me, I just find Hospital Ship basically boring. Nothing original or new or particularly interesting. Pretty much just yet another round of recycled plot-bites and overused tropes that we have seen in 100 other kmed dramas.

The King Loves: Riiiinn ? I hope he's still alive because I don't feel like watching the finale if he's not. I mean, what's the point of happy ending for Won and San if Rin is not there.

Lingerie Girl's Generation: I love it! It surprises me on how I personally feel connected to Jung Hee though the setting of this drama is in 1979.

Strongest Deliveryman: My weekly happy pill! I enjoy all the OTPs in this drama especially puppy and kitten, Jin Gyu x Ji Yoon. ?

Age of Youth 2: Ji Won x Sung Min and Eun x Jang Hoon. ?? This new season actually surprises me a lot. I can't believe that I love this season more than first season though I love the first season a lot already.

Save Me: I swear my blood boils everytime Baek, Jo, Kang and Sang Mi's dad appear on the screen. I couldn't breathe properly when Sang Mi, Dong Chul and So Rin were plotting something at Guseonwon. I'm just afraid that they somehow would get caught, especially Dong Chul.

Live Up to Your Name: I cried so hard when Ha Ra died. ??? Yeon Kyung's so broken when she couldn't save Ha Ra. ??

White Christmas: I've been watching this drama very slow and steady. I'm at ep 5 now and Lee El ?

Manhole: After this week's episodes, I've decided to drop this drama as it becomes more and more ridiculous to the point I've no more love left for this drama. I may just follow this drama through recaps only from now on.

Dropped and follow recap:
Reunited World: Can this show end already? I just need to know the ending, that's all.

I would argue that Dong-chul is a much, much better actor than Kim Woo-bin. I stopped watching this show after episode 3, through no fault of the show it just does not interest me, and Dong-chul managed to slay every tiny bit of screen time he was given in those three hours that I watched. Very charismatic, talented, and amazing screen presence. Plus, he's super adorable to watch too.

Lingerie Girl's Generation: It's weird how few of the characters I like, but I still enjoy it.

Hospital Ship: Really? That's the storyline you went with? Okay then. I wonder if the writer has some hang up with a cheating bastard.

Strongest Deliveryman: It's awesome. That is all.

Age of Youth 2: The ending of episode seven was a little eerie, but otherwise still the best thing on TV.

My Golden Life: I'm trying it out, and so far I like what I see. I don't know if I could deal with fifty episodes of birth secret angst, though. When will another Five Kids come around?

After reading all these comments about Hospital Ship. It sparks curiosity, while at the same time making me feel as if I dodged a bullet by not picking it up. I know that Ha ji won is a favorite actress to some, and I dont dispute her talent, but she's never been someone I seek out to watch

The only ongoing drama I'm watching these day is Live up to your name (and I'm soooo hooked with Kim Namgil act) and My golden life (dunno, i know its weird with their chemistry, but still trying to understand their situation.)

Last week I'm just finished The Best hit (just so so) and Duel (sriously, Yang sejong so stellar in it and his upcoming Temperature of Love makes me feeling down because I don't want him to compete with my favorite Kim Jaewook for heroin love. I just can't, my heart T,T)

And today finishing Seven Days Queen (oh dramaland, why the villain these day sooo handsome. Can't hate them right? And Lee Donggun so nailed it. Preferred him than Kim Jisuk in Rebel)

Waiting Rescue Me complete then marathon it. Just, I can't bear to waiting week after week. It's torturing and i have enough Live Up To Your Name every week.

Random than being in a drama slump, just being in a slump overall, so I've been a little behind in the drama watching.

Criminal Minds (ep 14 & 15): The Nadeul case was a disappointment. The holes and loose threads is giving me false hope that there would be something more down the line. I felt the swimming team case to be pretty good - one of the more solid cases and the parents' selfishness and lack of compassion and the girls' dilemma left an impression. Not sure how I feel about this next case.

Age of Youth (eps 4 & 5): I agree with javabeans about how much more I like this season. Maybe because there is less of a mystery. I get to spend my time just enjoying the characters and their growth. And I'm finding Kim Min Seok really really really attractive.

Poked my head in on The King Loves since my mom was watching it. Not my kind of story, but Im Shi Wan and Hong Jong Hyun were riveting.

So I binged all 12 episodes of Strongest Deliveryman AND I'M OBSESSED. Thank you to all the beanies who've constantly fangirled and recommended it because it got me convinced to finally see it AND MY HEART IS SO FULL

Since Strong Woman Do Bong-soon is now on Netflix PH, I finally started and the first episode was a blast! I like the lowbrow humor so whew. I was afraid to watch it before because some people were not into its humor. Glad I can appreciate it!

I also saw two web dramas (Love for a Thousand More + Magic Cellphone) because both had WINNER members as leads. The things I do for my fandom. Haha! I liked the former but wouldn't recommend the latter.

As for variety shows, I've seen Wanna One Go, Weekly Idol with Wanna One as guests, Half Moon Friends with WINNER, and Wizard of Nowhere. UHM KI-JOON, YOU AHJUSSHI MY HEART

Planning to binge Lingerie Girls' Generation when it's done though!

Strongest Deliveryman totally has my heart <3 I love the characters and I love the relationships and it's just a very feel good kinda show. There's a lot of cuteness, laughs, and good vibes and that's just my thing.

After watching Healer, I went back and just finished watching the other half of Suspicious Partner and now I'm literally in love with Ji Chang Wook lol. The first half is enough to be one of my favorites and I'm still !!!!! over how awesome the villain was, but man oh man they should've just cut the whole dad drama. Overall I enjoyed the show though.

The only show I'm currently live-watching is THE KING LOVES. I have to agree with HeadsNo2:

The King Loves: No, he doesn’t. He doesn’t love anyone! He doesn’t know what love is!

Suddenly the scales have fallen from my eyes. So that's what's been out of kilter this whole time: Won's not clear on the concept.

As part of my ongoing Yoon Si-yoon Retrospective, I marathoned all 40 episodes of HAPPY NOODLE, which resulted in secondhand carb overloading and a doofy grin at BREAD, LOVE AND DREAMS meets KARATE KID 2. ;-)

I also took in a bunch of episodes of KIGH KICK! 2. That show makes me laugh out loud.

Family drama OJAKGYO BROTHERS has been mostly fun up through episode 12.

Now I will sign off before I read any spoilers, because this drama has hooked me. I'm about to watch the masquerade party bit, which promises to be awesome just because of the eagle-eyed Queen watching. Strongest Deliveryman: will catch up on this week's episodes today. Have been enjoying the softening of Dan ah's character.

Hospital Ship: Sigh. I've nearly dropped it a few times now. HJW's character is getting a smidge better, but I get tired of the emergency cases that are all about showcasing how amazing she is. Out of her specialty and hasn't operated in that area for over a decade? No problem! Quickly and single-handedly transplants an organ while reconciling a mother and daughter? No Problem! Experimental surgery that has never been done in SK, which just happens to tie into her thesis? Bring it on! The cheating boyfriend scenario was appalling for the lack of professionalism. The storyline for Hyun and the poet and Hyun and his father were the things that kept me watching.

Also, it seems that RDK spoiled me for medical shows. I can't help but think that HJW did not practice surgical skills as much as the 3 leads in RDK. They were fast and graceful and I absolutely believed they were uncommonly quick in surgery. HJW's movements are slow enough that when she finished the mock surgery in 6 hrs instead of the 10 she gave as her estimate, I snorted.

Okay. I understand that Woo Dohwan is a better actor than Taec but it really breaks my heart when people say Taec is getting sidelined. Sang-hwan has a story and I like how his character is learning and improving himself no matter how slow it is. I love the internal battle he keeps on having. All of this is out of his comfort zone. He's always been a sheltered kid but he's now ready to step out and fight for his friends (yes, not just Sang-mi but in extension, Dong-cheol). It's so easy to walk away but he chose this path now. That's commendable.

Also, Lee David is doing a good job. Each character has their part to play in all of this and I think it's just right.
