Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching

How was everyone’s week in drama-watching? I told myself this week that if I stopped rewatching my favorite parts of School 2017, I would have enough time to watch a whole other show. But then I would be depriving myself of the one thing I really want to watch, so where’s the fun in that, right? Six hours of YouTube clips later… –girlfriday

javabeans

Father Is Strange: Daaaaaad! I totally understand why he wants to be punished for his ancient wrong and how getting off easy is actually worse for his guilty conscience, but man it was so hard to watch him just sit there and not fight for his defense. But I realized that Unni is my moral compass (and the show’s moral compass), because I looked to her reactions and thought that if she could find it in herself to respect her father’s wishes, I could deal with it, too. I actually find myself feeling disappointed that we only have two weeks left, because after 48 episodes I still want so much more happiness and resolution to happen and I don’t know if four more episodes is enough for it all!

Rescue Me: Agh, these characters! They’re so well-drawn and well-motivated, and it’s so riveting to watch this trainwreck happen to Sang-mi in slow motion while also being really hard to take sometimes. I was SO MAD at Taec for not saving the day when he could, and I totally get why things had to happen that way and why it’s a necessary backdrop for the current-day cult setup, but I was just so mad at him for not being a hero and then sorry for being mad at a simple-minded 17-year-old kid, and then grudgingly impressed with the show for making me care so much. I don’t know if I can take this show with all its intensity for twelve more episodes, but I also can’t look away.

Reunited Worlds: Why is everyone so readily accepting of the fact that Hae-sung died twelve years ago, and yet completely unaffected at being confronted by him now, in the present, in the flesh? This has been bugging me all series long but it wasn’t as bad when it was more like a secret held by a few close friends—but now he’s revealing himself to everyone, including his killer, and they’re all, “Oh, you’re back, huh.” I’m pretty sure if someone I saw buried came back into my life, I’d be feeling more along the lines of terror, confusion, and chaos rather than “Yay, you’re back from the dead! Let’s go to the movies!” Or “Yeah, I killed you, so what?”

Criminal Minds: This show is really disjointed, and not in a good way (is there a good way?). When they dedicate a full episode to one case, I like it—the cases feel rather crude and simple, and the show feels a little like it wants to be cleverer than it can pull off, but the hour flies by because I want to see how things go down. However, when an episode covers multiple different cases or running threads, it feels totally scattered and my attention lapses.

Bride of the Water God 2017: This show does seem to be going in circles, doesn’t it? Or maybe more like walking a treadmill—there’s technically movement happening, but at the end of the day you haven’t actually gone anywhere.

girlfriday

School 2017: I was so moved that in the midst of getting pushed around by a jackass, Eun-ho cared more about protecting Tae-woon than herself. She’s one badass ball of sunshine. I’m ecstatic that other boys are noticing her too, because you know how much I love jealous shenanigans—Tae-woon going all CSI on his male classmates’ handwriting samples had me in stitches. What I love most about the way that Kim Jung-hyun is playing Tae-woon is that he’s an intimidating threat to everyone else, but around Eun-ho he’s jumpy and nervous and an awkward, flaily boy who’s terrified that she might get mad at him for something. It’s just. Too. Cute.

Live Up to Your Name: Funny! The fish-out-of-water hijinks were as amusing as advertised, and Kim Nam-gil is perfect casting. I thought his reactions to time-travel were pretty believable, and though I think the whole Eastern vs. Western medicine conflict needn’t be such a diametrically opposed war, so far there’s enough amusement in his character’s discovery of newfangled gadgets and misuse of words like “boyfriend.”

Bride of the Water God 2017: I finally caught up on this show, but I think that was pointless, given how little has happened. I’m thinking I could’ve just skipped ahead to the final two episodes to see how it ends.

Rescue Me: My heart sank when Dad finally snapped too, leaving Sang-mi essentially all alone in the world. I didn’t expect the time-skip, but now the stage has been set for regret and a chance to right wrongs, not to mention for the cult to have amassed more influence and power over the town. And a chance to mend broken bromances, right? RIGHT? If Taec and Woo Do-hwan can’t be besties again, there is no more good left in this world!

Falsify: Go team! Yoo Joon-sang’s character seemed kind of superfluous at the start of the show, given that Namgoong Min already covers the reporter side of the good guy team. But this week he proved his worth when he masterminded that awesome front-page snafu by the country’s biggest newspaper. Now I see why we needed an inside man. Also, nicely done.

Reunited Worlds: Erm, I’m disappointed. This show promised me healing, but the plot is so lame that any healing I would’ve experienced is marred by that annoying voice inside my head going, But… you’re dead and you have limited time to be here! Stop buying knife sets for your chef job and start doing things for the people you’re leaving behind!

Manhole: Tell me if Jaejoong ever stops whining, then maybe I’ll pick it up later at that episode. No wait, tell me if he stops whining AND gets a job. Why do I feel like that’s never going to happen?

tineybeanie

Currently recapping: Falsify

The King Loves: Ooh. I’m intermittently watching this. It finally got good this week, primarily because I have bad Second Lead Syndrome, and Hong Jong-hyun/Rin is surging from behind. Gogogo—I’m rooting for you! Otherwise, acting is still mainly meh, but the costumes when they’re in the palace are beautiful. I can’t take my eyes off the hanbok. And at one point, I even started researching if embroidered masks like that were available to buy because they’re so elegant and mysterious!

tipsymocha

School 2017: Kyaa, Kim Jung-hyun is killing me here. He was always more of a lite version of the typical teenage rebel, but his transformation into a rom-com lead is still totally swoony, not only for the way he’s constantly trailing our heroine like some duckling, but also because it feels like he’s evolving as a person in front of our eyes, all due to his crush on Eun-ho. This was a pretty great week for character development in general, and I really like where we are with Bora and Dae-hwi’s redemption arcs, who both delivered some pretty satisfying blows to resident prick Kim Hee-chan. On my wishlist now is a friendship between the ex-besties on the mend, and more cute shenanigans between Eun-ho and Tae-woon, who can keep on flouting boundaries as far as I’m concerned.

Rescue Me: I am simultaneously so creeped out by this show, but so invested in the characters (well, maybe just Dong-chul) that I can’t help but keep tuning in. It’s almost hard to watch at this point, ‘cause all the good guys are so beaten down, and Sang-mi especially is having to deal with a boatload of problems she has little power to change, not least fending off the disgusting Disciple Jo. It’s a miracle she’s gotten this far without being assaulted. Speaking of which, I was pretty surprised at the time jump, but I’m also eager to see how much Dong-chul’s changed in the interim. I just want him back on the streets on his motorbike, being the knight-in-shining-leather-jacket. Is that too much to ask?

The only drama I watch these days is School 2017. And this week eps is extra fun, swoony, and heartwarming. Seeing Bo-ra and Dae-hwi stood up to those trying to control them and regained their courage to fight for justice was so satisfying.

I also started watching Three Meals a Day S3, and found myself keep swooning over Mr. Grumpy Seo-jinnie.

This is my watchlist:
1. Deserving of the Name - coz Kim Nam Gil is Jjang!
2. Manhole - a whining, desperate and super frenetic JaeJong is life!
3. School 2017 - it is that good.
4. Strongest Delivery Man - it is good and have to support Go Kyung Pyo in his first lead role.
5. Father is Strange - just two more episodes but we have to vote this as Favorite Family Drama for 2017
6. Reunited Worlds - I think I stopped at ep 8 or 9, I got bored, the leads are both pretty but age diff, people and he is a ghost! Pls cast Yoo Jin Woo with girls his age next time.
Dropped - Bride of the Water God - I lasted til ep 4, I thought it would get better, but this was the most boring drama ever!
Dropped - Criminal Minds (Sorry, Lee Jun Ki) / Duel

I watched the whole hot mess that was Scholar that Walks the Night for Lee Jun Ki, but I cannot watch Criminal Minds anymore. I suppose that while Lee Soo-Hyuk helped me watching the one - well beanies have eyes and eyes need candy from time to time - plus at the acting department the whole cast was better than expected, in the other case the whole cast is not as strong as I expected somehow to cover the lackluster writing. (I especially hate when the main actors are used as vessels to deliver some ”theoretical knowledge”. It feels like they added patches to a dress they try to sell as haute-couture. I feel like screaming to them ”Guys, you should know that both of you. Are you students recapping for an exam or something?”). Another thing that really bothers me is that I thought that Moon Chae-Won is a good actress. I think that she really doesn't like her part or something is wrong there. She is the biggest disappointment of them all.
Anyway, I learnt my lesson - Korean remakes of American shows are a big no-no for me. (I wonder how they did such a great job with The Good Wife.) Well, I have a feeling that it won't be long until I will have to say bye to Korean dramas altogether, because I do not live in America to have access to dramafire and the new one and finding streaming sites that work for me becomes more and more a struggle. (*insert crying my shirt off emoji here*)

I actually lost my full intrest to follow School 2017 right this week! I think this week episodes lacked both depth and emotional growth. I wonder how all other Beanies liked it so much... well different taste...

I agree with you that dramas are to each their own. I was really struggling with School 2017 up until ep 6. This weeks episodes were deliciously good imo. I'm actually surprised that you feel that this show lacked dept and emotional growth. This week we had Tae-woon being a puppy for Eun-ho, Bo-ra standing up for herself, Eun-ho being an all around bad ass (academics aside), Tae-woon being an all around bad ass, Dae-hwi getting back his soul a bit, and Teacher Shim taking a stand for himself and his students. There was so much to love.

Mars : I already watched the Japanese remake and now I'm on ep 5 od the Taiwanese adaptation.

Father is Strange : Errr at least we had cute moments with RY-CS and MY-JH to balance makjang.

Woman of Dignity : I can't wait to watch the finale episodes !

Manhole : This week was definitely better than the last. Seeing Pil changing his life every week is great. I understand why Jaejoong wanted to do this.

Rescue Me : It's such a chilling watch with the cult.

Falsify : I like the plot and the characters but I'm not as invested as I thought.

The King Loves : Aaargh my ship ! My bromance ! My beautiful trio ! I don't know what to think >_<

Reunited Worlds : We have more informations about the murder and I think Hae Sung's brother was undoubtedly involved.

Strongest Deliveryman : I don't know why but I'm more invested in the chaebols. It's interesting to see them live as commoners and their bickering is entertaining. Or that's what I thought before seeing the second lead becoming evil.

School 2017 : Bo Na made me so proud and Bit Na can just go see her mummy ! I hope Dae Hwi and Nam Joo will at least be friendly again. Hee Chan is scary and crazy. I don't know what will happen to him but I hope he's going to pay for his bad actions.

Bride of the Water God : Im Joo Hwan as Hu Ye is the best thing in this show.

Live Up To Your Name : I love Kim Nam Gil <3 His fish-out-of-water antics are fun and I'm invested in his character.

Rescue Me - continue to be very intriguing... scary, but addicting... all characters are very well-written. Taec, oh Taec, you are such a kind-hearted person who can't say no to your dad... as a high-school kid, I cannot resist to my parents' wishes as well, this is so realistic! Dong-chul - you are so cool...
Reunited Worlds - still admiring HS's beautiful smile.
Manhole - was about to start, but hold... what's wrong with its ratings?
Bride of the Water God - I have dropped this drama. No more for me. It is simply boring!!

Swoon 2017: Great eps this week with satisfying developments and of course, all the swooning.

Strongest Deliveryman: I think I'll drop this one. I'm not really connecting well to the characters and I don't like the plot direction.

Rescue Me: Sang Mi is an admirable heroine. She's in such an unfathomable situation but holds strong to her values. I really want "Disciple" Jo and Father Baek to stay the f away from her. Dong Chul better not go over to the dark side - or if he does I hope it's under a false pretense.

My thought exactly...I watched FoS bcoz many beanies here gave good comment and how it should be in watchlist of the year. Since nothing hooked me up after 7DQ ended, I give a try for it. Unfortunately, I felt that I wasted my 16hrs of my life watching those drama ( nothings new and less element of suprise ?). They are far from best for me...the only reason I managed to watch until it finale ( after many times paused it) is because of main couple ( Bae Do Na especially). Otherwise, those drama are easily forgetten in my memory. I want my 16hrs life back ?

I love Forest of Secrets! I watched upto ep 10 but sadly had to pause because I got caught up with all the new shows currenly airing. I'm planning on getting to it as soon as I can! ?

I love FOS just finished a week ago.

Omg agreed! Crime/thriller is best to binge. I binged both Signal and Circle after all the episodes aired. They were both amazing.
And I live watched Tunnel! It gave me a heart attack with every cliffhanger...but it was definitely worth it! Park Hwang Ho is one of my favourite detectives!! He's just a squishy marshmallow with a rough exterior haha. Loved him and his bromance with Sung jae!
CM doesn't have good reviews..so I may or may not watch it. Pity, I love LJK and MCW! ?

Had a good laugh at your comment about FOS! I have to admit I was guilty of pausing too! Watched ep 1 halfway back in June and picked it up last week. So glad I finished it. It may not have a mind blowing plot but I stayed for the acting and writing. Both kept me drawn in ♥️

Required fields are marked *

It's a rom-com depicting the lives of young delivery men and women...with a Chaebol or two thrown in the mix.
It started of well enough and the second lead chaebol character Jin Gyu (played by Kim Sun ho) took over some of our Beanie hearts by being so charming and natural on screen. However, the recent turn of events may see him turn into a typical evil second lead...which is just heartbreaking..
And also, the bromance was good when it was good...??

I think the show's genre can be a mix of those + makjang.

It sort of understandable that the show takes such trajectory because for this drama cycle, makjang show (WOD,MWDTL) is the reign supreme.

While busy traveling for work and pleasure for the past month, I couldn’t bring myself to watch some of my favorite dramas like Seven Day Queen and Forest of Secrets because I felt I could not give them the full attention they deserve. I decided to check out the C-drama Love O2O with likable and intelligent heroine and taciturn but caring hero. After watching nothing but K-dramas for the past year, it acted as a refreshing palate cleanser for K-drama tropes and beats. When there is misunderstandings between the leads they immediately talk and resolve them before an barely any angst can register. The stakes of the conflicts feel so low that it was such easily-digestible summer watch, and I also get to gawk at Yang Yang’s face while he tries to be the most impossibly perfect boyfriend.

SarangTae School 2017 : How rare is it that we get to see so much of how our two leads genuinely enjoy each others’ company (like everywhere and all day and night!) I also love that in this installment of School Series we get to see young adults dealing with the painful process of a breakup which is significant part of growing up. But one looming question in my mind after episode 9&10: where is my own TaeTae showing off his long legs and putting his veiny arm on my shoulder for my head to rest on?
Finger hearts to eternaTai!

Strongest Deliveryman: I love every one of our 4 leads, but it is Kim Sun-ho’s portrayal of the tormented chaebol with the cheeky façade that really tugs on my heartstring. The unexpected performance feels like déjà vu of how I feel about Dong Ha who stole the show in Suspicious Partner. Maybe both Dong Ha and Kim Sun-ho rubbed some acting magic off of Namgung Min during Chief Kim. Perhaps the casting director for that show deserves much kudos for recognizing these two raw talents and giving them opportunities leading to these higher profile roles.

Live Up to Your Name: Could this be the one medical drama without hospital politics? I like how our Joseon doctor is enamored with the awesome female surgeon, but her modern superior loathes her as a woman in the profession (he is the one who deserves some serious shin-kicking.)
Side note: this hospital might have the worse security ever who let a seemingly crazed man wandering around the hospital for hours on end!

Second Season Forest of Secrets: Shi-mok and Yeo-jin cohabitation hijinks on the rooftop. Together they will once again right the wrongs in the world with the same mutual respect and support but now armed with hugs and kisses (red lipstick pretty please?)

Seven Day Queen is like the biggest crush I couldn’t bring myself to call after returning to town after a summer of absence. I have missed it intensely, and forlorn to see it, but I know its presence will shake me to the core. Tomorrow, I say. I promise to call tomorrow.

Oh Kimbap, you scaredy cat, own up your feelings like a 18-year-old hak-saeng, won’t you?...

Love O2O is a great easy watch. I find Yang Yang rather stiff but it didn't take away the fun. A funny thing happened when he and Wei Wei talked in the game (first interaction I think) he didn't answer immediately and just stood there. I thought the show went as far as portraying a bug but no. He just took his time to answer XD

The drama depicts his character Xiao Nai as handsome, smart, rich, well-mannered, and never puts him in real life-crisis as he is always able to manage things neat and clean. I kinda understand why his character is hard to potray. Too much perfection makes it requiring less acting range.

In movie version, Xiao Nai (Jing Boran) hits rock bottom by losing his own team project's right. It subtly shows even most brilliant man has tough times too. I think that's why he is more relatable and more human than its drama counterpart.

Regardless, Yang Yang undeniably has the look. Just by simply standing, it's not hard to understand why he gets all the attention. Which suits his character description.

< C-drama Love O2O with likable and intelligent heroine and taciturn but caring hero

There are lots of bad things about Love O2O but the lead couple is pretty great. In fact, I can withstand all the bad things (which is basically most of the supporting characters most of the time – though I do love the hero's three friends) because of the lead couple because they pretty much let all the annoying supporting characters know that they are above about their silly shenanigans. And that's so utterly refreshing. No angst, no noble idiocy, but two persons talking to each other, trusting each other and also letting the other tackle his/her problems themselves (no damsel in distress that can't walk on her own feet).

LoveO2O is a rare gem in C-Drama land. That is to say that it starts good, mid is good, and the ending it good as opposed to other dramas starting good and then going to shit later on laced with flashbacks.

I only watch The King Loves and Reunited Worlds (almost drop the last one coz the story is going nowhere).
I am glad tineybeanie watching TKL... I have a bad SLS too. I don't know if the acting is meh.... ISW and HJH seem fine to me.. Even Yoona shows some progress. I usually able to notice if the acting is terrible, i.e IU in scarlet heart, Gu Hye Sun in almost everything or Seo Kang Jun (gasp!! Forgive me!!) in Entourage. But maybe I am just bias coz I love TKL so much!!

Required fields are marked *

I'm actually quite surprised that when I read tineybeanie said the acting is meh.. when I actually thought all the actors in TKL are doing a great job! Maybe in the beginning of the drama, it was pretty simple, so it didn't need a lot of emotions. But these past few episodes, I cried by just simply watching their face expression and listening to their dialogues. I LOVE TKL now and it's become my first priority drama to watch on Mon-Tues dramas. (Opps, School 2017, I still love you nonetheless)

I don't find anyone bad but you can see Hong Jong Hyun and Yoona being bland and stiff. If they weren't backed by the good writing and directing there would be more complaining.

Required fields are marked *

I actually find them really natural in their roles. They are able to sell it to me, and at no time did I think that oh, this is Yoona or Hong Jong Hyun--it was always San and Rin. Rin is "stiff" as a character so maybe that is part of it, but that was established quite early on, and Yoona has shown the breadth of San's emotions well, even being fiery--especially in that interrogation confrontation with Jeon.

22
reply

Required fields are marked *

I think TKL acting is okay, San and Rin does look underwhelmed if you compare to Song In, The Queen and The King but I felt like it fits the character.

They supposed to be hard to read and awkward, sometimes I want them to scream louder but that's more of personal preference.

In the other hand, HJH is perfect cause it makes Siwan stand out the lead. If the role is given to someone like Go Kyung Po, Yeon Woo Jin, Yoon Kyun Sang or another actor that has a broader expression in the small second. It gonna be an imbalance with Siwan.

The difference between Rin's build and the wooden charm makes him believable to be someone that under the crown prince.
If they put park bo gum or even Kang Ha Neul for Rin, then crown prince is hard to stand out.

This is just my observation, feel free to disagree.

26

Required fields are marked *

I agree with this.

I admit, a part of me understands where tineybeanie is coming from because, even up until last week, I was wondering how I could have felt about this show with a cast that I had even stronger feelings about. This is really only because this is a show that is so heavily focused on the psychology of the characters that you end up wondering what some of the most talented actors can do with the material.

That said, the whole reason I'm loving these 3 leads is because I'm finding them pretty effortless in these roles so far. I definitely don't think Yoona and Hong Jong-hyun have ever caused me any disconnect with their characters or their feelings. So I was pretty floored at seeing "meh" used to describe them. Perhaps I'd call them adequately good, not amazing. Im Shi Wan, on the other hand, did wonderfully this week, so if he's included in that, than I'm even more surprised.

There is some meh acting coming from the actress who plays Boo-young though. REALLY disliked her delivery in episode 10 for some reason, lol.

TKL is the only one I am watching now. What a beautiful and emotional show. As for the acting, I personally think they are doing good. Not omg stellar acting, but they deliver well. I feel the characters even through their simple gestures and expressions. This is the best of Yoona and Jonghyun in my opinion.

I plan to pick up SD and I still have BOTWG to catch up on. Based from the comments, the show did not improve on the overall feel and pacing. I understand the boring comments.

Bride of The Water God: I'm not bitter that this show never reached its potential. I think because I'm watching it week by week, I get enough enjoyment out of it as it meanders along. I actually buy the chemistry between the leads though I find that if he has to leave her there, it's good if she hooks up with the other guy.

School 2017: Yeah, the guy is swoonworthy (I think I just made up that word), but I like the lead gal so much. Her perplexed look as her guy goes in for the kiss was perfect. Also, the scene where Dae Hwi apologizes was well done. It really is never too late.

Criminal Minds: I found this to be a flawed but easy watch, but my computer antivirus doesn't like the sites its on so I'll just have to hope it gets picked up by Netflix someday. Best OST song of 2017 for me.

The King's Woman: (C-drama) Rough first two episodes but I'm already invested after one week even though my gut tells me this is all gonna be tragic.

Watch List: So I finished up The Lady and the Liar: delightful. Jumped into The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry: Really liked the friendship of the gals and some laugh out loud moments. Jin: So after hearing there was a much better J-drama, I jumped in and loved series 1. Two episodes into series 2 and Viki lost the license. #*$!!(#& That's all I have to say about that. Marriage Contract: I'm not a huge melo person, but I remember the buzz on this one. I am most amazed that it didn't drag. The pacing was amazing and the leads worked well together though on paper, I would have said no.

So now I am deciding between: Three Days, Heard It Through The Grapevine, or Protect The Boss. They are nothing alike so probably just be what mood I'm in.

I tried to pick Heard It Through Grapevine, Lee Joon acting is on point for me, but I just watchd 2 ep in total. lol.

But, is too dark for me tho, Idk, it supposed to be black comedy sinister and poke fun at his parents's 50's style, but I feel heavy to continue so I stop.

Three Days had potential to be a great drama but the writing and th e pacing didn't live up to the expectations.
Heard It Through The Grapevine has good dark humor but also dark lightning. Sometimes you might want to ask someone to light up the rich people's houses. It gets slow at some point but it's still a good watch.
Protect The Boss has lovable characters and friendship. I was in more for the cute bickering than the romance.

My current watch right now:
1. School 2017, my favorite right now! Kim Jung Hyun aka Tae Swoon and many other nicknames is just so lovable. He and Eun Ho together is a perfect combination. The bullies really really get on my nerves, I hope soon they will each get their own karma

2. Live Up to Your Name, mannn the first 2 episodes is so funny! And just like girlfriday said above, Kim Nam Gil played fish-out-of-water so briliantly. I hope it will continue to be great until the end.

3. Reunited World, I still haven't caught up with the latest episodes yet. But so far, it's quite alright. Although I do aggree that everyone seems accepting Hae Sung coming back into their lives. No matter how hard I think about the ending, it seems like a happy ending between Hae Sung and Jung Won is impossible. Considering Hae Sung really dead and maybe he just come back to this world to find the one who killed him and making sure his siblings live a good life and after that he will come back to the afterlife. Unless they manage to resurect Hae Sung back to life. So I'm gonna brace myself for whatever gonna comes.

4. Manhole, ckck I'm really annoyed with Bong Pil, he's so whinny. If you said you've been in love with her for 23 years but never say anything, I think you don't have right to be mad about the wedding. Stopping the wedding is cruel if the groom is a good guy, but thank god the groom is not a saint so yeah by all means save Soo Ji. I decided to watch up to episode 6 before deciding to drop this drama or not.

Also, is Strongest Deliveryman worth watching??

I'm enjoying Strongest Deliveryman. The plot has alot of potential to be a good slice-of-life drama, if only the writer will fully utilized the plot points she had thrown in the first 4eps. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching a breed of makjang drama (from the OSTs & directing) but I have no complaints. The four leads are doing so well in their role part of the reason why I'm loving the show..

School 2017 or Swoon 2017: Love love love!
The King Loves: Team WonRinSanDan to be happy, that's all I'd wish for.
Reunited Worlds: Tae Hoon x Young In and Jin Joo x Ho Bang couples are the main reason why I stick to this drama. And of course, Hae Chul, Gong Ju & Soo Ji too.
Manhole: I actually love Gangster Pil, more understanding and less whining.
Rescue Me: Simply, THE BEST. I hope it stays interesting until the end. *our wishes will be fulfilled*
Strongest Deliveryman: Kim Sun Ho ???
Live Up to Your Name: Sold! Who knows Kim Nam Gil can be so funny in comedy drama.
Criminal Minds: I'm still sticking strong for Lee Jun Ki oppa. Let's see if I can still endure this drama because of him.
Bride of the Water God: I put on hold to this drama for 3 weeks before, and I'm still catching up. I'm at ep 11 and hope to catch up asap before the finale is out.

Omg... I so desperately wanted to enter the drama and help out Sang Mi and her brother. I'm not a fighter but at least I'd make a credible witness? Go to the police like, I SAW THE WHOLE THING IT ALL STARTED ON A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT

There's the brainwashing on one side but of we're like Sang Mi and aren't brainswashed yet..then there's the problem of not being able to trust anyone! Then there's all the creepy dudes walking around calling her pretty...
I don't think I'd be able to survive in a town like this! ?

Glad you talked about my favorite writer (SK <3). The thrilling atmosphere and creepy people are more scary than just monsters, zombies or whatever supernatural beings.

I know I'm projecting a lot of what I "hope" Jin-gyu's character trajectory will be, but still, if they were going to do this eventually, why waste time building up his character (and the bromance!) in the first few episodes? Should've just picked from their arrays of Cardboard Evil Chaebols and gone with version 9.1 (Evil With Zero Chance of Redemption) from the start, then at least we know where we stand, and that will spare us from this heart break and disappointment. There's so much wasted potential, that's all...

yeah for Jin Gyu, I get that they want to show that people can work to get the justice done with hard work but that's just misdirected,

I hope this is character development for Kang Soo to realise that people may be involved in a bad situation but it doesn't always make they are the perpetrator.

2
reply

Required fields are marked *

About Strongest Deliveryman, I don't think that every thing done to show that Jin Gyu is not a good guy - his behaviour with his car, the blocking off the road, the lying at the police station when Kang Soo refused his money - is to be dismissed as the writer making him a bad guy or that he's actually a good person except for the writer (I don't understand that, because all characters are the writer's product, we don't give this kind of 'the writer made them bad' explanation for others).

These things are there in his character from the first moment, it's not like he was all nice in ep 1/2 but then was suddenly acting like a jerk. He is a jerk who committed a crime, he shouldn't just get off with no responsibility when his selfish actions lead to serious harm to others.

1
2
reply

Required fields are marked *

Jin Gyu is not a good guy, I think the complaint is how the writer really wants to make him the bad guy for the accident and the comatose state of kang soo's friend.

It just doesn't add up, he is not a good guy and doing many illegal things but he is not responsible for the friend's accident. The way the show wants us to feel proud for Kang Soo's + 300 friends achievement can't come genuinely since based on what we know, Jin Gyu isn't responsible for that.

If he is in jail because of his illegal racing then it's right but the drama show Kang soo and everyone cheered bc they believe Jin Gyu is what makes their friend comatose and this is the drama's justice.

[at least until ep 5]

2
1
reply

Required fields are marked *

He's not responsible for the accident but he is indirectly responsible for the coma because he blocked off the road just so he could have fun, and ended up preventing Hyun Soo from getting to hospital in time. The show only says that. The cause of the accident is not the point, the point is that even if Hyun Soo had been in the accident for some other reason he would still have been prevented from reaching the hospital by the blocked road. That is a fact, and that's all the delivery guys said.

The trouble is that OJG gets so many excuses made for his behaviour, when he does nothing to earn that. His 'feeling better' was not a valid reason to block off the road, and he has no concept of taking responsibility for anything because all he does is offer money to problems and feel sorry for himself. That was there from the first episode itself, he didn't suddenly become a villain, he always had that kind of attitude so it leads to him behaving like that

1
reply

Required fields are marked *

I actually think that now Jin Gyu's story will be more interesting. We've seen him grow and he's experienced something different with Dana and Kangsoo but he was ripped away from that. I think the writer is gonna show us how he becomes a better person again, and how he helps them fight the Jang family business. There's no way they'll leave him as a bad guy. He'll find his way back to our other leads.

Reunited Worlds: I'll admit, I do not give two hoots about the plot. I'm just here for the friends and family stuff and awkward romances. I know angst is inevitable, but why worry about the end when I can just enjoy Hae Sung and Jung Won's cute dates and crockery sets for ants! :)

Dal Ja's Spring: So I began this on a whim last week and by my own standards, I'm bingewatching cause I'm currently at ep 14. I think if this would have been the first kdrama I watched, it would have set some impossibly standards. As it is, I don't think I'm going see a drama again where they very realistically portray the pressure to get married, wanting to do well in your career and dealing with the fact that romantic relationships are hard if you have never been in one. Also, this show has so many supportive women, different kinds of women!!!! I absolutely love the drama and I think Dal Ja might be one of my all time favourite heroines and Dal Ja and Tae Bong are pretty much going to be one of my OTP's. Despite the fact that this was made in 2007, I think it holds up pretty well even in 2017. Despite the passage of time, some themes stay the same!

Swoon 2017 - Taaaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! ???
Rescue Me This show makes me think a lot. ???
Live Up To Your Name Kim Nam Gil ???
The King Loves Just started. Eh...is this the same Yoona from K2 and Hong Jong Hyun from Moon Lovers?

All my shows are dramas which I didn't planned to watch.

I was looking forward to BOTWG because I loved Nam Joo Hyuk in WFKBJ. I did like Haebak and So Ah but I just somehow can't get into the show. In its place, School 2017 gave me all the laughs and giggles. To think that I didn't even like school genre in the first place. Even though I love Se Jeong and Kim Jung Hyun, there's a lot I like about the drama besides these cuties.

Criminal Minds reminds me of a catwalk where models strut their stuff, unsmiling, looking cool and all. There's a lot more posturing in the show than profiling. Rescue Me on the other hand offers a lot more disturbing villains and more interesting characters. The show makes me ponder a lot - cult vs religion, predators vs preys, the strong vs weak.

I am discovering Kim Nam Gil, I don't think I've seen him in anything before although I have definitely heard of him. Such a hoot but he can turn on the charm in a twinkling of an eye.

I just watched few epi of TKL recently, Yoona performed like she always did prior to K2, so in my opinion it is not a great improvement. But at least she is serviceable and not just expressionless and emotionless all the time. While Hong Jong Hyun, sometimes he still has that bland expression but sometimes are OK. Im Si Wan mostly stand out more because the other two are lesser actors than him. I don't know, it gives a feeling like Moon Lovers, where two or three actors are great, but the rest are just so-so. But I won't continue to watch it as I am already invested with The King's Woman (c-drama) at the moment. I just checked few epi to see if the storyline is intriguing to watch or not as none of the main casts can make me stay for any sageuk.

Anyway, why you never watched Kim Nam Gil in anything ? I am loving him in this drama too, never thought he can be so funny lol.

Vin Zhang! Looks like a spin off from Ten Miles Peach Blossom ? I did like him in there. Is The King's Woman good? I've been itching to watch a C drama. Tried The Advisors Alliance without subs and realize there's too many terms which I can't catch.

I don't know why I never got to watch Kim Nam Gil even though I knew who he was from the time I started kdramas. I've always thought of him as a tragic character so this funny turn was also unexpected and so funny!

Maybe I am still in the first 2 eps of TKL but I really like what I see of Yoona and HJH in here. I have been so critical of the two especially Yoona. Of course Im Si Wan is something else. I don't get the Moon Lovers vibe. I think it's because there's a lot less melodrama and the funny parts are actually funny. I haven't seen Im Si Wan since Misaeng, he's an actor who I can watch without getting tired.

So far The King's Woman is good. But it's just 6 epi from total 40 epi, so we never know it can con't to be good or not. I'm not always following C-drama, so I don't have much impression with the actors. I liked both Vin Zhang & Dilraba in Ten Miles, and I think they are doing well in TKW so far. This drama is also another love triangle, but I hope there are other things than I can enjoy aside from romance part. The King's character is intriguing and I hope to see how it will bw developing.

Haha yes, KNG is known for tragic character ? It means you never watched Queen Seondeok, right?

The King's love : Wow, I really like the show for what it is. It's not as intense that it hooked and grip you tight but they really know how to make the scenes memorable. Many scenes stay in my memory like it just happened. I think the biggest credit is for the team, the director, the shot, the small movement just fits perfectly into my feelings.
I can't believe this show become my favourite for what they did to their character.

Criminal Minds : hmm, not an improvement but a step back, I mean just why?

Strongest Deliveryman : This drama made me feel conflicted because I know what the characters feel but the writer makes this weird.
I understand if they want to punish the illegal race but throughout the show, that's not their motive at all. They seem to look for someone to blame and take responsibility other than their friend and the one that had the accident with him.
Ofc jin gyu is wrong at the illegal race and need to be punished for that but the drama seems to want the viewer to think that Jin Gyu is the culprit for the accident which is not. I hope they make it clear that the accident and the illegal race does have a relation but not action-reaction. Blocking the road doesn't make the accident happen That's why I find it weird when people who side with kang soo are celebrating Jin Gyu downfall. I get the happiness to make it happen from their hard work but it's not him that caused that.

Finally someone said it about Jin Gyu in Strongest Deliveryman. That's exactly my thought! I understand that Jin Gyu's wrong, but Hyun Soo knew the traffic light's about to change to red, and he was speeding; hence, the accident. And when the news of Jin Gyu's illegal racing, it stated that because the road was blocked, Hyun Soo didn't get his emergency care that he needed and I was like, "Well Mr. Taxi Driver, when someone got hit by a car, you should call for an ambulance, not driving that person to the hospital by yourself! Then only they could do emergency care on the way to the hospital." I don’t mind if JG had to pay for his crime for doing illegal car racing, but I’m mad that the characters in the drama made it seemed like JG’s the one who caused the accident. It's not like it's hit and run case. And why only JG had to go to jail? What about other chaebols? And instead of spending the money to do flyers and banners, it’d better to use that money to support Hyun Soo’s medical expenses. Who knows, if KS accepted JG’s help in paying all the medical bills, JG might find a great surgeon or anything with his connection to help HS to heal faster. KS said it himself to Dan Ah, why’d she care about JG when HS is still coma in the hospital? Well, at least he finally knows that bringing JG to justice doesn’t help HS to recover at all.

I find Jin Gyu plead to take responsibility for the payment is the best way to ever happen cause they actually can't tie him to the accident.
This is not because how the actor is so cute, it just it doesn't make sense and didn't help anyone, no help for the victim and no one knows the other people in the accident.

I really hope for a turnaround fact or something that clear up what happens in the accident.

Exactly! After Jin Gyu was arrested, I was irritated on how all the deliveryman's happy as if it could bring back his friend's health. And when KS in the beginning said this, "let's find the evidence and make those guys pay. If we could get them behind bars, Hyun Soo will definitely wake up." Well sorry to break this to you guys, HS can't miraculously wake up just because you put those guys involved in racing to jail.

I scoffed when Kang-soo said to his gang "Let's put the illegal racing culprit in jail, then Hyun-soo will soon wake up. I believe so." Um mister, sorry to rain on your parade, but it doesn't work that way. Where's the logic in this statement?

I just said the exact same thing. Hahaha. I feel bad for siding Jin Gyu, but Kang Soo's misdirected anger is not something I can accept. After Jin Gyu's arrested, and Hyun Soo's still in hospital, I was like, "so..what do you exactly get from putting JG in jail? hmm"

Required fields are marked *

Jin-Kyu himself admitted that He is the centre of cheobal circle and he is directly involved in racing events. What if an Ambulance was passing around that stretch of the highway? The highway/Road is build with Tax payers money and is a public property. These rich guys even bribed police officials.

There is no need to push "its Hyun Soo's fault that he met an accident" scenario here.

2nd - Jin Kyu being unfortunate/unlucky/ or wrongly indicted, That's how nonsensical drama happens in a Kdramas. 1 side becomes scapegoat and everyone rally against that identity. There is no mention of the one who caused accident+those involved in illegal racing. Money argument is pretty lame too.

I rewatched ep 2 to actually understand Hyun Soo's accident and they didn't show exactly who hit him, but the first car that went through the traffic light is a taxi, so I assume the taxi driver who brought him to hospital is the one who hit him. But in this drama, the taxi driver didn't really mention how Hyun Soo got into an accident in the first place and even Kang Soo didn't bother to know the truth of the whole incident. About others involved in illegal racing, they've videos that show other chaebols as well, but the news only mention Oh Sung group? and citizens are boycotting their products. I understand that the centre of this story is about them, but it seems forced that everything is pointing out to Jin Gyu and everything's planned ahead to make Jin Gyu become the bad chaebol. Why did he turn out like that when he's nice before? Because his character is supposed to be the bad one, says the writer.
And about the money argument, I was not saying that they should accept the money from JG and shouldn't waste money for flyers and banners, but I'm thinking of another option that may save Hyun Soo's live after what happened, because his recovery should be the priority here. Maybe I was a little too annoyed when KS said that Hyun Soo can wake up after putting those bad chaebols behind bars. To me, it's a foolish faith.

The writer's turning the whole situation too black and white. Kang-soo is fighting for justice for his friend therefore he is good and the one we should root for; On the other hand, Jin-gyu is a coward for trying to save his own ass and pay his way out of his crimes therefore he's bad.

However, I can't even celebrate Kang-soo and his gang's triumph at securing the evidence and having Jin-gyu arrested because like you said, their anger is misdirected. At this stage I just want Hyun-soo to wake up from his coma and say "Well bro, I did run the red light", and see if Kang-soo will drag him to the police station too.

"At this stage I just want Hyun-soo to wake up from his coma and say "Well bro, I did run the red light", and see if Kang-soo will drag him to the police station too."

LOL this statement is making me laugh so hard. I assume Kang Soo doesn't know about him ran the redlight. If he doesn't, it means that the taxi driver didn't tell KS the whole situation and just save his own ass from being the person who hit the victim. If he knows, then, KS is being unfair to JG to put the blame on him because it's his friend's fault at the first place.

It's true though, the situation was such that Hyun-soo on a motorbike, ran into a car, so he was the one injured more. Imagine if he ran the red light and hit a pedestrian, or a school girl on a bike and the victim ended up in a coma. There are a lot of variables involved that simple-minded Kang-soo is just not considering, or just choosing to ignore. Hyun-soo is at fault for causing the accident, the taxi driver is at fault for not calling an ambulance and Jin-gyu is at fault for blocking the highway. All three should be packed up and sent to jail if you want true justice.

That's true justice and for that you can criticize the Writer. I have seen this happen in many other dramas too(maybe all main leads of kdramas are blind faith idiots?)
It is all done to make their rivalry serious.
As per Preview - I think case against Jin-Kyu wasn't strongly built and that's why he is free now.
Blocking road(public property), Bribing Police, Illegal racing, Put public in danger. I don't think Manslaughter case withstand any trial. And mother-in-law can find any scapegoat+ has all in pics/video format evidence.

0

This is exactly what I'd said in previous recap. If Kang Soo is really all about justice, then all three of them should be at fault, not just Jin Gyu. And for that CatoCat, all the things I commented before are my criticisms toward the writer for making things seem black & white and somehow force the viewers to accept things as it is though it may or may not make sense.

With The King Loves, I also find myself being drawn to it because of all the little details. Just that little respect to Won't bodyguard when he decided to marry Dan was a nice touch. Or the beautiful close-up of San's hand when she was getting ready to take off her mask was a delight to see on big screen. The set design and costumes also add to the grandeur of the drama. The production team, the entire crew is doing an excellent job.

I do have to credit the writing this time as I did enjoy the politicking in this week's episodes. Having both sides knowing how to play the games make it easier to watch.

I like the body language detail a lot.
like how San reacted to Won's hand or Rin's touch.
How San eyes under the mask meet Won but Won doesn't know her.
How Rin wants to help San in the bridge but Won reached her 1st
How Rin used his hair string to tied her pants.
They literally zoomed on that small scene and the more I see them, the more I feel them.
It isn't written or being told to us but their body language speak a lot.

When I watch their fanmade MV for both couple or the 3 of them, there's so many thing that you can use out of context [since it's shipper MV] because they just have so many interaction.

It's funny how everybody has the same reaction to Rescue/Save Me. It's like an accident that you can't look away from because you really need to know what happens next, even though deep inside you know you are not going to like what you see. It's riveting and heartbreaking at the same time.

Most dramas that I'd describe as "an accident I can't look away from" I'd mean it in a bad way, because the show itself would be a car crash but I'd be watching it anyway. But for Rescue Me it's such a good show, but so many horrible things take place that it does feel like watching something awful happen, but not being able to look away

First of all : New journey to the west season 4. This week's episode - I was soo ready to start dropping the tears cause I was missing them.. And then they pulled the "Guy you wouldn't want your sister to date" and gave me the best finale ever. Thank you soo much Na PD !!!
Mon-Tue . Falsify - You are amazing. This week's episode was like a healing drama. I am watching an amazing drama. Aaaaaaa
Wed -Thu. Man who dies to live - I still want her to dump her husband, but overall this drama is so well balanced. Every moment makes sense except when the egos start playing and you enjoy it more.
Manhole - I can see how the circles are making people not want to watch it, cause I honestly thought we'd have less time-jumps. Other than that I love JaeJoong and I'm having female second lead syndrome.
Weekend - Save Me - OK.I'm here and I'm ready. Lay it on me you evils.

Old ones - I have been hearing about Lee Seung Gi since forever so now I'm watching New Journey to the west season one. And also wondering which next project of him to take this time.

I was busy during the last weeks finishing my master's thesis so I don't have much time for watching dramas :( But these two dramas helped me to rest my tired brain:
Bride of the Water God: it is a disappointment. It could have been such a good drama but it is draggy and boring. Its only a few episodes left so I will finish it.
Manhole: it is easy to watch and I like the humour but less whining would be good.

One Week Friends - Kento being Kento. I'm not Impressed. 7/10
Code Blue 3 - Waiting for ep 04 and 05 sub. 8/10
A girl and 3 sweethearts - Kiritani Mirei is kawaii and oh no Kento again. 7.5/10
Waiting for - 3 gatsu no lion, Peach Girl and Hirunaka no ryuusei's Blu-ray dvd release.

Korea
School 2017 - Put into c grade. 6/10. This 6 actually is 5.
Also remember that - Joong-Ki caused accident and real culprit. Prince Oppa is as much pure as an angel. Goons bully Prince oppa. School administration's illegal practices boiled the blood of Prince oppa and a revolution was started. Everyone is against oppa and causing mischief but Prince Oppa being the saviour of humanity can't take it. Everyone is at fault except prince oppa.

Strongest Deliveryman - I like the cheobals and have not much against the main leads. Story is moving ahead well. 7.5/10

Save Me aka Rescue Me - 8/10. Stranger - Circle and now Save Me.
Story is a bit weak but Direction and Music is awesome.

Live up to your name - ahh messy 1st week. 7/10

Manhole - no emotional impact at all. Watch it for crazy comedy. Writer knows well what he/she is doing and director is supporting him/her. 6.5/10

I was really prepared for mediocre high school drama when I picked this up, but so many things in this drama exceed my expectation!

Father is Strange: ditto at what @javabeans says. Out of all the siblings, Unni is really the rock to lean on. As long as she's there, I remind myself that things will turn out okay.

School 2017: A drama where I just break into smiles. I needed this. How Bo-Ra's case turned out was just so uplifting!

Criminal Minds: Last week's episode 6 was pretty good. But this week's set...the road rage story was good, but writing and editing went back to being messy. Despite the violence, still an easy watch since I'm not too emotinally invested in it.

finally gave up on Bride of the Water God. It had finally hit me that there wasn't much happening and I wasn't feeling the stakes.

I think Criminal Minds proves that a production cannot have two A list directors behind the scenes. It's so different than US tv shows which can conceivably have a different director for Every Single Episode and make it work. But, yes, I agree it is overall an easy watch, I think because it is a procedural.

I am only seriously watching School 2017 right now. And as obvious on my posts in the fan wall, like other beanies, I love this show. TaeWoon is really proving himself to be "the one" for EunHo. Cant help but love the character a little bit more each episode. As for EunHo, she is slowly realizing her feelings for him *I hope*. And I am also invested in the storylines like DaeHwi's inferiority issues and his broken friendship with TW. Also his fight to break the hold that another student has on him. Teacher Shim's constant fight for his students well-being and his antics towards his crush. Bo Ra and her struggles against bullies. Then her surge of confidence with the right reinforcement behind her. The eventual fall of the rich meanies who picked on her. Sarang and her friendship with EunHo, and the glimpses to her non-dates with Kyung Woo. Can not wait for the next episode especially when we have that last scene from episode 10. ?

I also checked out the first episode of Live Up To Your Name and I really like the hijinks of the time travelling aspect. Also looking forward the clashes between the two leads. Kim Nam Gil is really selling his bewilderment of the modern world really well. So will most likely check out the next episodes.

I got tired of watching Manhole. No matter how much I wanted to watch Jaejong in rom com. For 4 episodes, nothing much happened except, whining, regret, and winning a girl. Move on people.

Finally, Aboji went to trial and now it's time to mend broken heart. Can wait to see Ahn Joong Hee to comeback home and see them have a heartful dinner with no worries again. I cannot get over the scene in court, It was played out beautifully, how aboji cried from not being punished while no one believed him when he was framed for the murder. I cried a river. Hopeful Omma not diagnosed with breast cancer. Enough with another tragedy please.

Now off to watch 3 meals a day.

Live Up and Criminal Minds are the only dramas that I watch in time. I should finish AoY this weekend too.. and continue to binge-watch Secret Forest !

So I'm left behind from so many dramas; Water bride, School, King Loves, Deliveryman, Save Me, Manhole.. they don't really catch my attention at the moment so if I still have no time later, I might probably have to dropped them all at once

Diamond, Ruby, Kelly, Burkin, Alexander, Edward (It's so crazy that I can memorize fictional/public figure names in TV show better and faster than memorizing real people's name around me)

I had also enjoying some episodes of Knowing Brothers, it's the easiest way to memorize each name of an idol group members

BOWG - Hi, show. You're quite awful, no offense. 14 episodes has passed, and still, it feels like nothing much had happened. I'm only sticking with this one because I inadvertently fell in love with Im Joo Hwan. The love I felt for him and his Hu-Ye is enough to make me tolerate watching this drama. Lol. Rescue Me: I'm glad I wasn't the only one surprised by the timeskip! It was a good move, though, because now it has me intrigued to see how our main characters have changed, and how they got to the situations they find themselves in now--not to mention how the four boys will reconcile and help Sang-mi out of that cult. Sang-mi herself is an awesome heroine, and seeing her in such dire straits makes this show difficult to watch, but I can't look away

Strongest Delivryman: I'm only three episodes in so far, but I'm sold enough to keep watching. Kang-soo is such a gem, and even though I think Dan-ah and Ji-yoon have some traits stereotypical for women in dramas, they both manage to rise above them, and I'm genuinely rooting for both of them. Plus Ji-yoon's hate-relationship with Jin-gyu is hilarious

Reunited Worlds: I haven't watched this show since I came back from vacation, and given the reviews I've seen, I'm not sure whether or not I should pick it back up again. I just really wanted it to be good because of Yeo Jin-gu!

I don't have time right now, but as soon as I do I think I'll start School 2017. I wish there was a place I could find Live Up to Your Name because I always enjoy fish-out-of-water hijinks.

Posting it before reading the "what we're watching" :
◾ School 2017 : aka Swoon 2017 : I have an obTAEssion with it ?
For this week, Tae Knight for the win ❤ (side note : now that we know the past of Bo Ra and female teacher, I’m left with my curiosity about the police officer past).

◾ Falsify : Finally the big revelation I was waiting for, it’s one of the few times I’ve screamed so loudly watching a K-drama : that was so satisfying !!!! ?
I love that we’ve got many characters that evole on their own but also collude either on the good or bad side ㅋㅋㅋ. The fight scenes with the cop and the killer were great , Paksu for Namgoong Min ? ? ?

◾ Father is Strange : happy pills Cheol Soo and RaYoung are back :), wow Cheol Soo it’s his first relationship but he is such a nice/gentle/swoony boyfriend !!!
Desperate Hye Young, then Father demanded the judge to punish him saying it’s not right not to be punished when he’s guilty whereas 30 years ago being punished when he was innocent : both heartbreaking ?
Finally we’ve got a kiss , but I’m not as interested in Joong Hee and Mi Young as in the early ep of the dramas , but yeah for them ?

◾ Reunited Worlds : Usually I am not sensitive with bad performance from actors, I just tolerate it : BUT Lee Yeon Hee and Ahn Jae Hyun make me cringe so often that it’s painful to watch this drama sometimes ? , it’s a pity I love him in NJTTW and it was my first time seeing him in a drama
For the kiss : it is a big NO for me, it reminds me of The Best Hit : if those two dramas want to compete for my best cringe couple for 2017, well they’re doing a good job at that argh , do people in the drama realize that he is a ghost ! a ghost !! he is DEAD !!! I can’t swoon with this couple.
Now to myself : how did Goblin make me swoon so much but The Best Hit & Reunited Worlds failed to do so ?
Reasons I keep watching this show : Shin Ho Bang & Hong Jin Joo ? (Lee Si Eon ? & Park Jin Joo ?)
and Yeo Jin Gu’s smiles of course ?
◾ Strongest Deliveryman 3,4&5 : I love the humor esp. the master of delivery (don’t remember his name ?) but do we have to see such a Sseuraegi character ? really ? argh…
◾ Criminal Minds : still haven’t watched ep 6, 7 & 8 : so let’s say it’s on hold. I was so excited to watch LJK in this drama, hoping it’ll bring back Two Weeks vibes, BUT it doesn’t deliver as a drama neither as Criminal minds remake. Maybe next week, I’ll catch up with it, but for now I don’t know.

As for variety shows :
◾ I live alone : I laughed a lot with Henry and Sung Hoon
Henry is just like a little kid, so cute but then he can be such a gentleman and makes you swoon until they show you his shoe inserts ? ? ?
Sung Hoon OMG he ate so much food , then his coach made him regret his actions : they’re hilarious together , icing on the cake : Kong kong kong playing at the gym ? ? ?
◾ Infinite Challenge : was also a good ep , I was surprised by Park Myung Su acting : he delivers ! he wasn’t like that in Muhan Company movie : was he really giving his best because it was for Hollywood movies ? Jack Black got his revenge ㅋㅋㅋ, I guessed most of the songs in his humming quizz, he is really good with it
◾ NJTTW : it’s nearly program 끝 ? , I’m so glad that Lee Su Geun won I love him, it was a hilarious ep : one of the best part was KyuHyun being rejected as potential husband material ? but then reality : he won’t be in Season 5 ?
◾ 1n2d : was a good ep, I laughed many times, one of the best part was seeing Dong Gu so invested in his movie ㅋㅋㅋ, and Yoo Il Yong PD funny while doing the water effect then being sexy while editing like a pro ?
◾ HyoRi’s homestay : it was awkward to see the house empty but that led to such relaxing and touching moments for HyoRi, Sang Soon and IU : I love love love this show ❤❤❤
◾ 3 meals a day : I’m going to watch it now, the obTAEssion messed up my schedule ?

i get less laughter in this week episode of manhole,,i wish i'll get it again for next week episodes
and just had a time for watching strongest deliveryman, episode 5 is the most dissappointing this week ?

I’m not in a drama slump, but I don’t have any crack dramas at the moment. Maybe Live Up to Your Name will be one. The first two episodes were great. Funny and engaging.

I wanted Strongest Deliveryman to be one, but episode 5 was disappointing. I still want to see what happens next though. Really hoping it gets better and gives us a fulfilling story.

Criminal Minds’s latest episode involved an interesting crime that held my attention, but like American crime procedural shows, I’m not emotionally invested in the main characters/NCI team. Still gonna finish this show for Lee Jun Ki (seriously when is he going to get a good drama).

Fallen behind on old shows. Need to finish Duel so bad. OTL. Distracted with outside activities… Football season is back too.

I have this problem where School 2017 is so adorable and fun that I have zero desire to do anything else in my life but watch it. Usually I have multiple kdramas to get me through the week but I pretty much dropped all the others because my interest got sucked away. It's not that other current kdramas are BAD....it's just that somehow my brain wants to suffer in loneliness and rewatch my favorite clips until the next ep of School 2017 comes out. Rinse, repeat.

I think the show needs to change the main actress. Swap the main actress with the second lead actress then the drama will 100% be more interesting. Right now it's following a pattern we've already seen a hundred of times. Also the second lead character is the better written and acted out of the two, not to mention has better chemistry with the lead actor. I will definitely go back to watch the series if they did it!

Love O2O - It was a bit slow, but I'm at episode 11 and it's starting to exciting. I hate the male lead three best friends. They are so annoying and super overdramatic over little things. I just feel like smacking them.

Live Up to Your Name - Saw the first episode yesterday and so far I like the fish out of water story. It does sound promising.

The Crown (Netflix) - Super amazing. Claire Foy and Matt Smith are Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, they are killing it.

School 2017 and Father is Strange are the only two series I look forward to in my week. Casting is spot on.
Father is Strange: I actually wish this series was not coming to an end. The characters and situations are so sensible.

School 2017: The writer is doing great with character development and the actors are fantastic. I am so invested in Eun ho's and Tae Woon's (did I get that right?) relationship. Not only is the growing relationship and interactions fun to watch. It's lovely to see the support they give each other (even if these are fictitous characters)

I tried Criminal Minds and Rescue me (I love the rapport of the friends) but these two are a little dark for my taste.

Bride of the Water God - Lost interest in this since the initial setup was too dragging.

Return of Superman: This is my weekly feel good fix. Ko Seung Jae = adorable.

It's been awhile..I wish Na PD would do another Youth over flowers or Grandpa over flowers.

How are they not questioning how Hae Sung came back to life and what his future holds? Also, everyone in it is hiding secrets left and right that I wish they'd just express themselves (Jung Won and her depression, Hae Sung and his limited time, Hae Chul and his struggles, Ji Woo and her illness, Chef Cha and his father's relationship). I'm watching the show for Lee Yeon Hee and Yeo Jin Goo.

Bribe of the Water God - Currently on ep 13. A little more underwhelming than I expected... Makes me wonder why this show gathers higher ratings than its precedent (Circle).

Forest of Secrets: Currently on ep 1. The start seems a little slow to me, does the show pick up later?

Plan to start watching: Manhole, Strongest Deliveryman, Criminal Mind. Looking for recommendations.

Really enjoying Live Up to Your Name right now. Just watched the 3rd episode. It's effortlessly funny, no dragging moments so far, the medical part is pretty interesting, and chemistry's good. It'll be interesting to see how KAJ's character copes in Joseon! LOL

Ah man. Gotta admit, that last bit you mentioned would have been an exciting surprise for me and you kind of spoiled it...

Though it is probably my fault for continuing past "Just watched the 3rd episode", hehe.

OMG! I just binged the first 10 episodes of School 2017 and I am hooked. I love all these kids (except Hee Chan - he can die in a fire). I'm so glad I waited until ep 10, so that I got to see some DH redemption.

The teachers are hilarious, I love the sport guy insulting the former principal at every step. How can that guys still hang around the building! Ridiculous.

Love our two lovebirds. They're so cute as friends and their flirtation is so adorable. I'm squeeing.

I love Bo Ra! I hope she becomes core as well as Dae Hwi. They need to become righteous X avengers! Exposing corruption at every turn.

Gah can't gush enough!

I disagree with the opinions on bride of the water god. Hands down, it is my favorite drama to come out this year. Maybe there have been better written, acted, or directed shows out there, but none of them have stolen my heart the way Bride of the Water God has. A lot actually has happened! What I like the most is that the show's conflicts are all situational. None of them are easily solvable and no one is perfect. Everyone is simultaneously a villain and a hero. I like that there are no black and white characters in this show like in most dramas. The show is mainly about watching our characters grow and change and unfurling the secrets between the realms. I think it's a better show then people give it credit for, and honestly if the production team had just casted better, it would have blown up. Nam Joo Hyuk, Krystal, and Gong Myung were not ready for their roles. If the show weren't awesome, I would have dropped it because of them (and I see why people find them distracting enough to not watch). Also, the CGI is up to appropriate standards. Korean CGI has looked really fake for a while, but in this show I really believed all the magic stuff that happened. All and all, it's a well paced, written, directed show that has acting flaws, and is sticking to being a rom-com which it promised. If slice of life rom-com with drawn out character growth is not your cup of tea, it's not for you. Also if you can't get over bad acting it's realllly not for you. Anyways the show gets 9/10 from me.

I do agree with you. It is not by far the worst. I mean I didn't like Goblin and felt that it also went nowhere as well. At least here, I felt the relationship between Habaek and So-Ah are more convincing in that they fell in love slowly over time, rather than the love story in Goblin (he has never known true love in 900 years and he fell for a kid and suddenly she is the love of his life and he can't live without her? Based on what? Her catching a maple leaf or bounding across the road? I just can't make that leap).

I think BOTWG is for quiet evening or late night watches. When all is quiet and still and you need something that will put you at ease. That's how I feel about it. When I think of the plot, there is barely any, yet I miss the characters when I don't see them and I look forward to seeing them again. It's like getting a peek into what they are doing for that week. They slowly grow on me. I can say it's subtleness is it's charm. Plus everything else is so pretty, it's hard not to appreciate the production value.
