I loved him in RDTK; he really grew on me in that drama.

5

I haven't finished RDTH. Forver paused on ep 2. Does it get better?

1

@kayedrama RDTK is one of my favorite medical dramas! I don't really like medical dramas tbh, but this one is one of those that make me stick until the end. It also gives me an opportunity to discover Yang Sejong. I fell in love with him for the first time there though his character is a bit bratty.

3

It took me until episode 6 before I was really invested in RDTK, and then it was my favorite--until Goblin, of course. ? Still in my top 5.

0

Yes, I've only good things about RTDK. Not a med drama fan too, but will try to pick it up this weekend. Thanks :)

I only learned about NJH and LSK dating a few weeks back, when someone here mentioned the “swag couple”, and I didn't know what that was. This was before I watched “Weightlifting Fairy…”. Now I’m reading that they broke up, and I wish them both the best in their careers, as for their personal lives it is none of my business.

I just wish that NJH, LSK and SSK will pick good future dramas, since I like all three as actors (after watching Weightlifting Fairy and BOH). I look forward to their future projects.

Under-age reckless biker (don't know whether he has any learner license or not). Young Blood wants some fun at the expense of others life. Causes accident. People severally injured( many could have died). 1 innocent guy+ friend did die. Cry over dead friend but shows no remorse over his own acts.(no mention of inured citizens and 1 lost human being). Gets Violent. Destroy school property. Break school rules. Still Drives reckless and cause minor harm to the heroine again. Fights with other bikers in the middle of the road. waaaah.
This is just few initial episodes. I need to say anymore about him?

Jin-Kyu the cheobal looks like a innocent being compared to this dude.

Hi CatoCat! I follow some of your comments and notice that you are very selective about your drama preference. You know, you have quite a good taste. However, some people (me for example) may not be as selective as you are. Us seeing a drama in different light is very possible and I do find treasure of what you find trash. This world has a lot of space for each people to love thing they love afterall, doesn't it?

Did i threw rotten eggs on any viewer? I just talked about a character and his glorified actions. Each fact is already proclaimed as none-of-Prince's fault and conveniently his school actions are omitted.

"Did i threw rotten eggs on any viewer?"

Do I have to answer in more blatant manner? Because of my limited range of English vocabulary, I definitely can't do that. If someone talks to me in sarcasm, I won't get it.

I do hope we can have smart discussion about a character. That is, talking about both of the character's good side and bad side. Now that you have pinpointed Taewoon's bad point, what do you think his good point is? Unless we analyze both side, it won't make a fair and proper character analysis.

He wasn't the one who caused the accident, though. It was Joonggi who got distracted by the phone call and almost ran into oncoming traffic, then both of them swerved and the bus tried to avoid them. He wasn't fighting with the other bikers either, they were going after him, and Eunho got a shock from the bikers coming from both sides and lost her balance.

He is by no means a flawless character, but if you want to assess him, you have to look at the character as a whole and not cherry-pick and/or misread events to present a one-note judgment.

18

Required fields are marked *

Also, it's true the show didn't confirm whether he has a license, but he's not under-aged. You can get a motorcycle license in Korea at 16, which is why you sometimes see high schoolers working part-time as deliverymen.

>> He wasn't the one who caused the accident
>>>both of them swerved and the bus tried to avoid them.

Now i know how Tae's name wasn't in any news. He was riding bicycle while Joong-ki's bike was streaming fire and causing all the accidents. This is some woahdude level defense.
Taw is such an innocent and nice guy How dare those 2 low-life bikers picked fight with the Prince. Eun-Ho is such a dimwit. Everyday falls here and there.

A character who always cries over his dead friend doing dangerous acts on a road. yeah. yeah. I completely misjudged him and misread his intentions. We should certify Tae being the model citizen of the society and school is den of illegal pratices and only 1 hero is fighting all that and so Tae Deserves Model student award too.

you really have a way to turn people away with your word, do you know that?
you are not a troll, but your word is as bad as troll.
you are judging him so much, did you even watch pass ep 1?
@sangmaharani and @purpleteapot , you guys are great. i wish i can be as rational as you when explaining things like this.

7

technically the points that you raise are not wrong..
No ifs and buts, that was rash bike riding..

But given a high schooler.. its a story of a character.. his anger, his struggles.. and his emotional journey.. for kids friends are the universe.. and he lost both of his friends that day.. now he is back to realm of happiness with Eunho.. which brings about the positive changes.. (owning up the responsibilities of his actions)

Rest blame the world too if they keep giving rich people's kids free passess..

End of the day, he is flawed.. but the story being told is interesting for some people.. some see that at the core he is not a bad human being..

6

I do have an issues with his quick to threaten/fight mentality at times. He isn't perfect by any stretch. However, as @purpleteapot has pointed out, you were way off on your facts with some of your points.

The guy is teenager dude, you forgot that about your equation. And what's good in every story is the character development(e.g. Latest episode). If they're perfect, how can we relate us humans? Imagine if his doing drugs, cause for some teenagers it's a factor. Just saying.

Hi Beanies !

Dramas became a huge part of my and other Beanies' life so I have a question : which dramas had a strong impact on you and on your life ?
Dear My Friends, Reply 1988 and 1997 made me treasure more my friends. What Happened to the Family gave me a glimpse of what it feels to have a loving and heart-warming family even if I'm not close to my family.

Happy Friday :D

I'd have to say Cheese in the Trap, Reply 1997 and Reply 1988! (I just realized that they're all slice-of-life dramas) ? CITT is the first drama which I found quite hard to move on. I particularly loved Hong Seol's character and she's now the heroine whom I identify with. With the Reply franchise, I loved all the character developments and how everyday life may seem mundane, but when you look at the bigger picture, they become so significant in your life.

4

Required fields are marked *

Slice-of-life dramas live up to their genre. Hong Seol is a great character that feels real and I even began reading the webtoon to see what's happening to her.
Reply franchise is good and relatable. I recommend it to my non-dramas watching friends and they all love it :D You explained exactly what is appealing about it !

7

Required fields are marked *

I actually wrote an essay why Hong Seol is such a relatable heroine! haha
It's hard for me to recommend the Reply series to my friends since they're not so into slice-of-life dramas (and I respect the fact that it's not everybody's cup of tea).

Misaeng as well. I am Jang Geu Rae, personality wise. I did not suffer like he did. But I saw myself in him.

This show also made me realize how my complaints of having too much work is nothing compared to other countries where workers stay until late at night, drink with coworkers, and then be looked down upon.

8
reply

Required fields are marked *

Misaeng. I cried. So much. Even at the happy moments. That was how much it got to me. I did not experience Jang Geurae's situation in real life but it felt like I did while watching the drama. It felt like I was the invisible member of their team. The last part when they were riding through the desert and Siwan's voiceover talked about life's paths and roads, I had a serious life reflection moment. Still thinking about it now.

Now I want to rewatch Misaeng.

Misaeng - because I think there is a JGR in every intern, employee, contract worker. That show did change how I see work and colleagues.
Reply 88 - I just started it, Deok Seon's rant over being the middle child probably came from my life.
Dear My Friends -This show was so relatable that I stopped watching it after 6 episodes but whatever I saw changed my outlook of those around me.
CITT - It didn't really affect me but HS is so relatable to many girls. Very apt and thoughtfully written character.

Definitely Reply 1997 and 1988 and What happened to my family and Father is strange made me treasure my friends and family and my everyday moments with them. My favourite dramas are the ones that have a deep impact on me and actually made me a better person. Also I found Seol in the Cheese in the trap webtoon to be a character I found very relatable with her worries and anxieties. I love slice of life dramas for their ability to find the joy and beauty in everyday life. I need to watch more of them.

Goblin for me. It's take on life and death struck a chord with me. There are a lot of quotable quotes in that drama but one of my faves is: “The ones left behind should live even harder. We might cry from time to time but we should smile a lot and cheer up. You are obligated to do that in return for the love you received”

I regretted not watching Goblin earlier. I checked the synopsis and I seriously didn't understood anything and it didn't made sense to me but when I got to binge it I didn't regret and perhaps the reason why I enjoyed it so much was I was going thru some tough life-and-death times. Yes, the drama's got some of the loveliest script I've watched. :)

I would have loved if you watched this live! I bet you and I would have had great discussions. The script was on another level. Did you get to read the recaps? I still go back and read them. There are so many deep thoughts there. I was always, like, these people really get it! It was a wonderful little recap community!

2

I think just the beginning and end recaps I've read. Also, I've never been active commenter before the recap so even if I Iive watched I would be only lurking - If I was alive while waiting for the next episode after all the cliff-hangers. lol.

1

**Before the revamp

0

And my favorite line--for a reason that I haven't figured out yet--was "You had a hard time growing up." And the "I Love You." Deokwa said to Kim Shin after giving him the credit card! And the other line I just love is; "If God only gives you no more than you can handle, then he must have thought too highly of me." No other drama had affected me as much as Goblin.

2

Goblin has a lot of life/living quotable quotes. Bonus: most were narrated by Gong Yoo and his wonderful voice. Double... No triple the effect on me.

On another note, I wasn't surprised with the Sung Kyung-Joo Hyuk breakup at all. I had a feeling that they won't last long.

Happy Friday Beanies :) Though it's not weekend for me yet, I still have to go to work tommorow..

Curious about beanies' fav, would you like to tell me : What's your most favorite OST from 2017 dramas (choose only one song if you mind ^^), and why?

So far, my most favorite came from Rebel OST. I love all of them but if I have to choose one, then I'll choose Sangsahwa/Magic Lily, sung by Ahn Ye Eun. I'm drowning in feelings whenever I listen to this song. It's sad, heart-piercing, yet beautiful. I could replay the studio ver, live stage ver, the instrumental ver and listen to it for hours..

I realized that through years of drama watching, you can't help but notice other factors about a drama like its OST. I have only watched super few dramas this year. Currently, it's a tie between Fight My Way's OST and School 2017!

6
reply

Required fields are marked *

Nooooo..... how could you ask me to choose, it's like asking who is my favorite child? Kekeke...

If I have to choose an OST from this year, it would be the second OST from Tomorrow With You, aptly titled Tomorrow With You by Kim Feel. Just so melancholic, my kind of music.

Special mention - 7 Day Queen OST's Dreaming by Fromm - another melancholic song that rips my heart apart

I've too many OSTs from 2017 dramas that I love. But if I have to choose one, I'd go for Duel's OST : Nightmare by Mad Soul Child. I've been listening to that song for everyday nowadays.

Can Goblin be counted as 2017? Because its premiere wasn't that long before year end, if I recall it right. My favorite OST of the year are:

1. Goblin: each song in this drama is simply legend. How can someone not recognize Never Far Away's guitar intro?
2. School 2017: clapping hand BGM is really captivating and also Gugudan's ending OST really fits the mood.
3. TLAHL: While I think the songs are rather weak for music-themed drama (Heartstring imo has it better), Joy and Crude Play boys makes them so easy listening.

But in the end, old drama's OSTs have special place inside me. Bogoshipda (Kim Beom Soo), Sincerely (Yoon Chang Gun), Emergency Room (Izi), From Beginning to the End (Ryu), My Memory (Ryu), all of Yiruma pieces, You and I are Fools (Stay), etc always bring sentimental value.

I watch drama beside my Mom and Grandma as kid. When I've grown up, I vaguely remember the drama plot, but the OST still lingers in my mind. Not only once or twice I was so frustated for suddenly humming familiar-notes-I-dont-remember-what-song. And I am tone deaf that I can't get people understand what song I'm on search. ?

Also, old songs resonate in me more because the singers are simply singing and there are no such things as synthesizer and autotune.

Sorry for the long rubbish oot.

If Goblin is counted in 2017 then I'd choose Sam Kim's Who are You. Love how it feels epic especially when used for Kim Shin's scenes.

Never Far Away is epic too. I will always remember that hero walk in the fog (and the second round that's so hilarious leeks and all lol).

Good question, @keiru! If we're talking this year so far, as much of a train wreck as the show was, I couldn't stop listening to the Introverted Boss OST for weeks. It worked really well within the show itself, and there honestly wasn't a single song that I didn't like. More recently, I've been loving the Suspicious Partner and Seven Day Queen OSTs - I alternate them to balance the upbeat and the melancholy!

Well, yesterday Viki announced they are fully in bed with Kocowa and you can get that other service's exclusive content by upgrading Viki Pass to a higher tier of premium. It ends up being about $10 a month which is comparable to DramaFever's original premium price so I just did it. I read people had trouble streaming Kocowa and that their app was terrible but if I can get the content from Viki on my Roku then I'm down for it. Plus it's been killing me I was missing a Namgoong Min show.

I won't do those unlicensed sites. I went to one once to look at what they had and had attack ads immediately pop up and take my tablet to a completely different site. When I went back it just did it again! They have to be virus minefields on PC.

When it comes to Unlicensed sights, it's best if you download addblocker or some version of it to keep it from redirecting you. Some sites its fairly easy if you don't have addblocker, others are not.

No I was on a phone and the browswer had built in pop up blocking and it was not effective. I couldn't even scroll down the front page before being on some website with a gibberish url with a "warning your phone is infected click here to download virus cleaner" thing. And you can't back up from those either, it's like it wipes your history. Crazy.

I did this too - for the same reasons. I like to watch shows on my TV with the Roku. Kocowa couldn't do that, plus I heard the terrible reviews. Oh well, at least we have more access.

Read about this too.

I noted that if you have the standard Viki pass, you will also be able to access the Kocowa content, but after a 19-day period. I can live with that. I'd much rather use the Viki interface.

The only drag for me is that I won't be able to participate in recap discussions for those Kocowa exclusive shows due to the delay.

Btw, I wonder what all this will mean for DramaFever?

Good question on DF. I see they are picking up a lot more Taiwan/China/Japan shows, but few - especially the Chinese ones - match k-dramas for directing and writing.

3

Required fields are marked *

Imo Taiwanese dramas suck most. Sub-par plot, sub-par cast, sub-par production, sub-par acting and sub-par vocalisation. Just terrible. Chinese dramas are suffering in quality because of production companies trying to milk as much money as they can. But they are definitely pretty to watch, and you can see the money they throw at it. There are also the occasional gems. I definitely won't say that C-dramas are the worst of the lot.

Kocowa is based on the 3 major networks. DF has a deal with CJ E&M which owns TVN and MNet and I think OCN. So basically they're going to have the cable shows.

I'm glad there is a way to get Kocowa content as I watch K-dramas on my Roku, but man, a $50 increase a year for the upgrade is ridiculous IMO. I don't even pay that much for Netflix. The whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

2

Required fields are marked *

This is my biggest gripe with the Viki Pass Plus. It's the same as I pay for Netflix. That's insane. Netflix has significantly more overall content in their library plus their original content. At the moment, I can live with their price. Viki is a niche based service, has significantly less content, takes a decade and a half to sub--you're not going to get the same subs from Kocowa, Viki will still be doing their own--they don't have a PS4 app and the list goes on.

3
2
reply

Required fields are marked *

The subs issue is the biggest thing for me. Some shows on Viki get subbed pretty fast - but there are some shows that have been up for YEARS, and are still not fully subbed. Gonna try the Viki Premium for a month, then will see. I don't understand why they don't use the Kocowa subs, unless it costs more.

2
1
reply

Required fields are marked *

From what I remember reading somewhere, Viki prides themselves on their very accurate subbing. That's what they see as one of the things that sets them apart from everyone else, and their defence for taking so long with subs. So they want to keep that accurate subbing with the Kocowa stuff as well.

2

The Kocowa app for both Android and computer pretty much suck. I signed up for the 30 day trial for Kocowa, but will probably cancel it and try the Viki premium pass. And I agree on the pirate sites - I have used them occasionally in the past when that was the only choice. But anymore even with adblockers etc., they are more trouble than they are worth - constant popups, redirects, low quality video.

3
reply

Required fields are marked *

Yeap I heard that too. I'm actually glad that Viki found a good way to survive by partnering with Kocowa. Not that I'm a fan of Kocowa sigh...the desktop and the app have been giving me problems lately. Also what is with the app and not letting you get screenshots? I had hoped they would get rid of that feature. It's WEIRD.

Anyways I guess it's still this strange 2017 fluctuation going on between Kdramas on Netflix, Kocowa, Viki and Dramafever.

DO I???

Note: These are all very campy and stupid and should in no way be taken seriously.

I'll stick with only Japanese ones to make sure this list doesn't get to big ;;

Hana Kimi 2007: It's basically about a girl who cross dresses to get into an all boy school. (12 ep)

Hana Kimi 2011: The exact same thing, only a bit less funny, but I found it still a nice watch (12 ep[?])

Tokujo Kabachi: It's a law drama, the main couple bicker, they both can smackdown people with 'THE LAW' and it's stupidly awesome (10 ep)

Otomen: A guy who is girly but has to hide it by being extra manly, and a girl who can kick some butt. Umm... yeah. The guy is major eyecandy. (ep 12)

Ghost Friends: Stay.Away.From.Spoilers. (It's about a girl who can see ghosts and helps them out) (ep 10[?])

Mei chan no Shitsuji: Oh my gosh this drama is so so so so so stupid. I love it. Basically, it's about a girl who used to own a Udon shop, but then through a series of events she ends up at a rich girl school where al the girls there have a butler to do all of their things for them! (12 episodes of pure madness)

These are all anime-like dramas. (Just restating. don't expect to use your brain much during any of these)

I'd reccommend Kamenashi Kazuya's dramas:
1. My most favorite is Kami no Shizuku. It is about competition between two men searching the best wine called Kami no Shizuku (lit. Drop of God) according the will of world's wine critic. For people who love plot driven drama, this drama won't appeal you as it deals more about self discovery journey.

2. Youkai Ningen Bem. Who'd guess a story about three half artificial humans-half monsters could be this touching and heartbreaking?

3. Tokyo Bandwagon. Slice of life, cute young main couple, sassy family, and cool weird grandpa.

I heard Boku no Unmei Hito is great, but I cant find time to watch it yet. I havent watched Kaito Yamaneko either.

Anyway do you guys have any idea what drama it is:

It was very old j-drama. I watched it on TV like nearly 18 years ago and I think it's a morning drama, not regular one. The story about two sisters: Kyoko and Reiko. Reiko is stellar child who does well in study and basically everyone's darling. Kyoko is more like a rebel. She prefers spending time with a neighborhood grandpa and playing japanese chess (Shogi?) together. And there are two boys too: not-so-handsome boy who has a crush on Reiko. But Reiko has a crush on school's handsome boy. Meanwhile, this handsome boy, which happens to be grandson of neighborhood grandpa, is interested more in Shogi (and Kyoko, naturally). Oh, both of them are especially gifted in Shogi as I remember them being pro in future.

I dont think this can make into Name of That Drama section because it isn't korean drama. So, if any of you has idea of what drama it is, that would be a great help. My mother and me desperately want to remember the title.

One really bad but fun drama is the Taiwanese version of Hana Kimi/For You in Full Blossom/You're Beautiful...It's SUPER cheesey and I watched it early in my drama watching days when I didn't know any better because I had read some of the manga (and I got such a kick out of the crossdressing story, I didn't realize it was a thing!). Even so it’s pretty cute and has a fun OST with members of S.H.E. and Fahrenheit. I don’t actually follow TW or K pop but I found those bands so puppy cute.

In fact :
1) I haven't watched any of Park Si Hoo dramas, years ago I've seen youtube MV of funny moments in Cheongdamdong Alice so I associate him with it, but it's still on my to watch list
2) seeing Shin Hye Sun immediately reminded me of FoS not her character but more the whole drama and how amazing is was (past tense ???)
I checked her dramas : I didn't remember seeing her in Oh my ghost and She was pretty until reading it , and I dropped Legend of Blue Sea mid-way : so agree with you she only left an impression with FoS ?

1

I see! I watched some of Park's drama but my fav are Princess Man, Queen of Reversals and strangely I liked Prosecutor Princess too lol?

2

Princess man has been on my to-watch list for many years -_- why so many shows and so little time ? , its OST is so beautiful ?

2

I agree Shin Hye Sun did a good job in FOS, but I really disliked her and her pairing (unpopular opinion, I know) in Five Kids, and I thought she was forgettable in everything else I've seen her in. To me, she just doesn't have that thing to be more than a supporting actress. Maybe she'll prove me wrong, but I won't be watching since Park Si Hoo was cast.

Open Thread week 28. Phew! What a fun week! “Our” golfer WON his tournament last weekend and I’ve been so happy for him. We’ve kind of adopted him and his wife (they stayed with us last year). His wife could not make it this year, so I was texting play-by-plays throughout the weekend to her in Florida. When he won, she was floored! It was SO AMAZING to be able to tell her, before anyone else, that he had won. Then, it was back to the grinding stone. I had to do a maltreatment seminar for work, which was oh, so riveting, NOT, but it had to be done. Bottom line: BE NICE TO PEOPLE, even if they’re horribly incompetent and you’re vexed at them. Ha.

We also had friends over whom we haven’t talked with in FOREVER (February) which is sad, because she and I are in the same practice group and are partners. She works in the hospital, though, and I’m across the street. But, I did get to share the drama that swept the Beanie world, “Oppa-wars,” and she was so smitten with Park Hae Jin! It was hilarious. I’ve been sending her oppa-pics all week (which isn’t hard when you stalk the Beanie’s walls in your spare time) and another K-drama fan is in the making!

And, if that’s not enough, tomorrow is my monthly K-drama club meeting—so lunch AND Goblin, episode 7! If I’m not sharing the love, I don’t know who is! And, yes, I have a charmed life. ;)

“The King Loves” has surpassed any pre-conceived notion I had of this drama. It’s really well-done, better than I had hoped. I think that being pre-produced really helps the story-telling here. I think my hubby has dropped it though, after I told him that it is based on a novel, and in the novel a certain nobleman ends up with the girl and not the crown prince. I said in the last recap that my hubby is the ADMIRAL of the WON-SAN ship and he’s now refusing to watch the rest for fear his ship will be at the bottom of the ocean! I never thought of him being a shipper, but here we are! @celine asked why he’s shipped them so hard. I think it’s because Won’s the more complex character. He’s cheeky AND sensitive, and reminds him of him. He’s totally upfront about his intentions with San, and it’s refreshing. He has a fire in his belly too, and is now stepping into his role as leader, to the absolute chagrin of the King. And he loves Yoona (and wishes that he’s with her as well).

And I started “White Christmas,” just the prologue. Here’s our conversation about this:

Me: OMG, White Christmas is on VIKI! *clicks on the pic of the beautiful models*

Hubby: There are no girls in that picture. There’re all dudes.

Me: *laughing* That’s the whole point!

Hubby: *rolls eyes as he’s leaving the room*

Me: Aren’t you going to watch this with me?

Hubby: No, I’m not gay.

Me: Okay, your loss!

(20 minutes later)

*Hubby is in bed, watching his iPhone*

Me: What are you watching?

Hubby: Nothing.

Me: *Scooching my head next to him so that I can see—“You’ve...

Happy Friday everyone!! It's been a crazy week in real life, so thank goodness for dramas as an escape.

The King Loves is my favorite currently airing drama. It's just soooooo good, and one that I went into with low expectations. The first couple of episodes were just ok, but it really ramped up the amazingness after that. I love the romance (even the love triangle, which is rare for me), but most of all the friendships and other relationships. Even the political plotting is interesting, which is rare! This show needs more love! Also - Rin <3

School 2017 - really enjoying this one! I'm glad it's getting lots of recognition here, and especially the main actor. He was heartbreakingly awesome in Rebel, so it's great that he is getting his chance to shine. The main couple is aces and I love that we are seeing the stories of lots of the students and teachers.

Thinking of starting Manhole next, or maybe Strongest Deliveryman. But I need funny, so it will probably be Manhole. I really want to watch Live Up to Your Name but can't find it anywhere.

I like Hana Yori Dango and I always Criticise Tsukasa Doumyouji's actions. He deserves it. 2nd season is like Soap-Opera and i still like it.

Hi Wag-a-muffin
I feel it too, but I feel the onus is on the writers. If they want to reach out to many and be easily understood, they need to write so that this is possible for the majority of readers. As some of us may come here (tired) to relax and read for fun, it can be rather hard work (and therefore off-putting) to try to figure out what the acronyms are, to research etc, just to understand the posts. It's no longer fun and relaxing.

I guess it's ok on a definite one-show thread to use acronyms of characters' names or of actors' names, since the pool is limited, but on the OT, I may not even know what show is being referred to! ?

So I feel ya. ?

This is not uncommon problem, I guess. I can relate to that too. Sometimes I need to scroll back to the main article, especially for the drama I'm not watching. And it hurts, because I browse dramabeans through my smartphone. *my thumbs hurt*

I get so lost in the acronyms. It's one thing to refer to really popular actors by their initials, but then to include character initials and then show titles! How do you even search? I mean YWCFTS, YFAS, MLFTS are all acronyms for the same show! I'm going cross-eyed, trying to read the secret code.

Hello, all:
Tension has ramped up in Love in Bloom. Loving this KBS daily.
Avoiding The King Loves coz I can't deal with all that stress and I feel so sorry for our prince. I didn't think he'd be second lead to the heroine's heart so...not happy, and avoiding.
Watching Chinese dramas:
Eternal Love-- fun as ever and one seriously murderous royal family
The King's Woman -- Loving this as well.
Not sure if I want to do Kocowa over at Viki. Am feeling a bit bullied into it.
Not much else going on. Am judging a writing contest so I'm kinda tired. Bad writing does that to a person apparently.
Have a great weekend, all.

Good Morning Beanies,

I am very happy that The King's Woman is now in Dramafever. THe first two episodes is really good. I know I am behind as they have six episodes out. I am hoping that they have Princess Agent next on DF or Viki instead of watching it on YouTube. I think in order for DF to survive is to put more Chinese dramas.

Hi beanies
I have not been in the open thread in ages..it is raining so much now, ? Britain.. Now I am heading to university a long way from me at a uni by the beach (so used to leaving in a city). I wrote down a list of dramas to watch then including Misaeng, Cheese in the trap, Another Oh Hae Young etc. I feel both excited and slightly scared at the same time.

Anyway with NJH and LSK breaking up, I am not surprised by it at all. I saw it happening, life does not work like dramas. I loved them together in the drama but when they got together in real life, I was slightly cautious about being happy. I sound like such a pessimist but I thought about the possibility of them breaking up. I struggle with shipping as a thing really especially with real people because I feel it is getting into other people's business. I guess it can be fun but when it goes too far...I am thinking about writing about it but I am currently writing about the school series as a whole, looking at its history etc. etc. Happy weekend.

Good luck with school! Congratulations. I hope you really enjoy the change in environment. Coastal life is quite nice. Interesting drama list by the way. Lots of variety. :)
I thought NJH and LSK getting together was adorable. They're young and had time to enjoy each other. Sometimes people come from just a season in your life. ::giggles:: I was happy was then got together but I'm totally understanding that they broken up. I hope they continue to grow as artists and live fulfilled lives. I think that's how I ship real life couples...from a distance more of "oh that's nice" "oh okay good luck next time" kind of way. Where I don't need/want to interfere with their private lives but just send them out some good vibes.

With shipping, I think my dislike of it comes partly from my cynicism about relationships ?? I am fine about supporting the relationship from the side lines with positive vibes but those shippers who send death threats and try and infere in their lives ?? I definitely hope that the two of them remain friends especially as they are under the same agency and it was not a bitter breakup.

hahaha I totally get the cynicism.
Ughh the people who get wild & dangerous are really too much...Are you even a fan then?
I never understand that. Let them live their lives. I dunno I think it's that part of Korean entertainment world that I don't really dig. If my favorite actor, kpop person, bias whatever dates, gets married, talks to someone, smiles at the postal worker then I'm happy for them...I'm not going to get angry, bitter, sad or pull out the crazy death threats about it.
I hope NJH and LSK stay friends too!
I also hope LSK sings in a drama and that NJH will play loveable cute character like in CITT and WLFKBJ again.

Hi Everyone! ..... A little late to the OT gathering this week. Schedule a little crazy this week with one thing after another!

Interestingly, I'm only down to one drama. That hasn't happened in a while. This week I managed to start watching Falsify. Only watched episode 1 but that was enough to get me interested. Right off the bat there's a little mystery, a little puzzle, a lot of questions. I'm kind of liking that.

I'm still trying to find out where to watch Live Up To Your Name that's virus-free. After a virus scare a week and a half ago, I don't need another computer nightmare!

That's all for now! Everyone take care and have a great Friday!

Hello and Happy Friday Beanies!

It's been one of those days when I want to crawl into a hole and just hide because I'm so unmotivated to do anything. Not having a good week and breaking out with pimples. I'm way way way past my teenage years! What is this rubbish skin? Consoling myself that it means I'm still young. ?

Thank goodness for Manhole because Jae Joong being crazy as Pil really makes my day and he gives the best looks to his lady love that are so soft I'm melting. UEE is still kinda stiff but I'm enjoying too much to care very much.

Feel bad about the ratings and wondering if I'm just the only mad one for enjoying it so much. I do hope this show won't be cut but really the ratings are so ???.

Hwaiting show! And Hwaiting to me for a better week ahead!

I am so behind BOTWG and just following the comments of Lollypip. I am surprised that the romance is better than the overall plot. At the same time, I look forward to watching because of this. I need a good otp to gush about and Habaek and Soah just might be it. Although, I predict I will be dragging my feet watching. I am not a fan of the pacing of the drama. Anyway, will marathon when it's done.

I plan to start SD because I have a soft spot for Chae Soobin and Go Kyungpyo.

Goooood Morning! Hope everyone is having a fabulous day!

Currently watching: My Sassy Girl and Forest of Secrets.

My Sassy Girl: A little wacky and not much plot right now, but it's an enjoyable mindless watch. I didn't go into the drama with high expectations and I've not seen the original so I think I've been able to enjoy it more because of that.

Forest of Secrets: So I am up to episode 5 but for whatever reason I'm not getting into it. I am actually a bit confused on the plot which is lowering my enjoyment. But the direction, cinematography and acting are all excellent so I know this will be an excellent drama. I think I'll read recaps to see if I missed something. Some of the subs were a little wacky and I was also sometimes doing other things while I was watching so I could have missed some important things.

Heading to my Mom's this weekend. We will be watching Bride of the Water God (we watched the first episode the last time we got together) so that's what we will be watching this weekend. Seven Day Queen will be the drama we watch after BotWG.

That's how a felt about Forest of Secrets when I was watching it. I continue for the reasons you did and I didn't notice when my feelings became stronger but they did. A good chuck in the middle I made myself watch the episodes but they have such amazing small moments and everything builds to a fantastic finale. I think it was the last two episodes or maybe just the finale where I was crying and crying. Anyways the leads are AMAZING.

I do like the leads, so I don't think it's because of the characters, but the story is just not as gripping as I thought it'd be based on everyone's raving comments.

I hope the finale is something totally unexpected but still makes sense to make it worth my while to watch all the episodes. Hopefully I'll join the bandwagon sometime soon.

yeah I remember the show's plot feeling oddly predictable to me. Since the beanies wall was always full of comments that they were so shocked, surprised or it was suspenseful I kept waiting to feel that way...but that really never came. I just got really emotionally attached to some characters and the actor's performances. Also the plot wrapped itself up in a way I could understand towards the end.

Which is TOTALLY different from how I felt about Circle. I was edge of my seat for that show and always surprised. I also had an easier time following the plot.

This is exactly how I felt watching Healer. It seemed everyone raved about it. I got excited. I watched and each episode I found myself waiting to feel something. The excitement. The squee. The ending rolled in and still nothing. It was just an ok drama for me. Enjoyed it enough but forgettable. Goes to show varying perceptions and tastes. Although, I also have to say that there have been shows that a lot enjoyed here so I decided to check them out and I ended up loving them too.

Manhole - ep 3: It's A Wonderful Korean Life: Not a Christmas Story.
ep 4: 30 minutes in and Pil is still flailing about in the sand mumbling. Dal Soo - saddest character ever. I am not sure why I'm watching this, but I can't stop.

My Father Is Strange - ep 47 and yet another kdrama k-tastrophe has been thrown in the mix. But, I love Lee Joon and the fam. I'm recapping all 52 episodes at http://www.cimiart.wordpress.com

Law of the Jungle - Komodo Island - is camping with a few thin sticks as a baricade between a group of idols and entertainers and the top predator in the world, the Komodo dragon - 3,000 on the island if anyone is counting - a good idea? Kangnam, what are you doing? They even watched with speechless fascination as a dragon caught a deer and chomped it right before their eyes. The island rangers are cool, I gotta admit.

Heart Signal - not sure I'm particularly fond of any of the guys.

Happy weekend, and safe solar eclipse viewing!

Whoa, how ideally suited is the OT banner today for the post I was planning?! I finally watched Dal Ja’s Spring last week reading things about it on various places here! I know javabeans is a fan!

That drama is wonderful. Even 10 years after production I enjoyed it fully...(until the final episode!) Some things about it felt fresh even now so I’m sure it was even more so when it originally aired. It surprised me over and over and it kept me laughing and smiling. I loved that three episodes in, the antagonists from the beginning became friends. The secondary characters were awesome. I loved the office crew! I loved Yang Hee Kyoung as Team Leader Kang with her Oh Dal Ja SSSSSI! And Dal Ja’s fantasies were hilarious. And until the last couple episodes, the main couple had what I found a particularly healthy growing relationship for Dramaland.

A few things did feel particularly dated. One of them~ I was very frustrated by ODJ pretty much wearing a scarlet letter and taking so much blame (public scorn as an adultress, possible loss of job!?) for going out to dinner with a guy like once. That was weird. I’m glad that we see some dramas have moved passed excessive and unnecessary apologetic behavior these days (IE in Bride of the Water God when So Ah says “Why should I feel guilty for that?!”)

I was also shocked, like open mouth shocked at the last episode. The couple had only about 4 minutes in it together! It wrapped up everything so sweetly for everyone but them. Since the main characters relationship seemed to grow so healthily, naturally, and sweetly throughout, I just took the “mandatory separation” of 2 years very hard! Especially since it was obviously a decision she made to run away, and not because she had been hoping for or working toward the internship. One thing I don’t like about dramas that are produced as they air is that the whole thing takes place in those three months, so they often squeeze so much development into that time, and then when there’s a time hop, it’s like years go by but those three months were everything. Not that that can’t happen in real life, but it happens so often in dramas. The fact that Dal Ja decided to not keep in touch was so frustrating. The “If It’s meant to be…maybe” GAH! I wish she had put in effort and not left it to fate, just rejecting the first person she ever loved who loved her very much as well on the first occasion she felt very overwhelmed. Others commented that the final episode just deflated. Good way to put it. For me it’s one of those dramas where the last episode is best left unwatched.

But up until then I loved Dal Ja. I thought it was interesting how this character so much defined herself by her age. I wanted to give her a pep talk. “Dal Ja, I relate to your stress eating. ? But girl, not to your feeling ancient (and I’m around the same age!) ! You’re gorgeous, you’re kind, you’re competent and successful, but you’re not THAT OLD!” Very ironically...

1
5
reply

Required fields are marked *

CONTINUED!

Very ironically and tragically, after watching it, I have been thinking much more about my age and my stage in life! Dal Ja how did you do this to me?!!! It really messed with my brain!

I know it’s a classic Noona Romance drama, but so much of her headspace revolved around feeling super old at 32/33. She even said at one point that she thinks she’s getting special treatment because of her old age, when she wasn’t the oldest or second oldest person there. I thought she could use a new perspective and hoped Kang Tae Bong brought the youthful spirit out of her!

Kang Tae Bong! In my opinion he is really one of the best, most swoon-worthy male lead characters I’ve ever seen in a kdrama. It completely changed my view of Lee Min Ki, who’d I’d seen in three other productions and never felt strongly about. Now I think he’s dreamy lol.

I loved the drama! Thanks beanies for the recommendation!

I also re-watched Dal ja´s Spring last week and I loved it. I wrote about it too. I found myself being in it for all the people not the romance. team leader Kang is hella glamorous woman who loves cookies and red lipstick! Love her! I surprisingly found I am laughing at jokes that I didnt find very funny before. I think it has a mature humor and meta that needs some life experience to understand, but I was laughing my head off.

Dal-ja's spring is a truly wonderful drama, especially by todays standards. I watched it a while back and I remember being shocked by how progressive it felt. It is rare to have cohabitation in a drama, let along frank honest dialogue. There have been some dramas recently which have broken the mould on this, but I feel like this and Coffee Prince were so ahead of their time that they should have been seminal works. I completely agree with you on most of your points, especially with Kang Tae-bong. The character made me a fan of Lee Min-ki's. Can't wait for his new drama to come out later this year.

Just the same as you, the ending pissed me the heck off. For the most part I feel like the drama doesn't need to a remake because it's that good, but I would welcome one if it does justice to the original work and it changes that damn ending. Oh, and I would hope it changes the shaming of Dal-ja for seeing a man who is separated from his wife and didn't tell her about it but makes her look like the biggest sinner and home wrecker on the planet.

I feel so bad for Manhole's low ratings. But then I watch it and don't connect to the romance or acting - not at all. I'm still half watching but thinking of dropping it after episode 4.

I think the time travel really hurts the development of a relationship. In a romance I like to see the misunderstanding, grudging attraction, and push/pull. But between him jumping around all manic and UEE's blank face, I just don't get the sense that they are in love.

All the characters keep talking about how much he likes her. But for me it's all tell, no show.

I'll remind you guys every now and then. Having said that, I do look forward to what you guys have in store in the future. Fighting!

Since the theme of the month was revisiting old dramas, I decided to rewatch few of the Taiwanese dramas (since I needed some Aaron Yan in my life). After breezing through some episodes of Refresh Man and Love Keeps Going (God, this one's bad. Why did I love it so much in the past? It might be because of Mike He... Definitely Mike He), I was in the mood for some more, so I figured I'll pick up a drama or two. I watched Bromance from 2015 (after an amazing coincidence. It was destiny! But a lame one...). Well, I'm still wondering why the hell I didn't drop it midway. Probably because I had fun "modifying" the characters' dialogues and trying (with a pretty bad outcome) to learn some words. It was a cheese-cringe-wtf fest all the way through. Would definitely NOT recommend.

One the other hand, I found dramas that have just began airing, mainly Attention, Love! and Memory Love (so much love...). Gotta say, they both caught my attention, especially the latter. They both have a lot of clichés right off the bat, but I enjoy the leads and the premise. But the update... They'll go on for four(!) months, one episode a week. This is beyond cruel...

Finished Ruler last night and I must say it was a solid C+ drama. I felt most of the cast did a decent job in their roles; however, the role of Han Ga Eun just seemed too big for Kim So-Hyun. She wasn't bad in the part but I think the lack of maturity really showed. There were times where I just wanted more depth from her and just the lack of living failed to produce it. I didn't really feel the chemistry between her and Yoo Seung Hoo. Overall, though, I think it was a good first step into adult roles for her. I wish she could revisit the part when she's 27. I think she'd do a much better job then.

dear me, what a night. the situation in our museum right now reminds me of the reptile cafe scene in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. We can´t stop here, this is bat country! I have never actually been literally inside Hunter Thompsons book before. too much booze and people who have not a dimes´ worth of respect towards culture. their own or ours. some Round Table that served food but it was all tacky and it smells and they wear viking hats, reindeer & santa claus suits and sexy maid outfits christ, that´s not something you do in a museum. there was a sea of beer on ground and mines were used as trashbins.
we didnt expect that cause it is arranged by a prestigious establishment.

anyway, dramas are so neat and tidy compared to that. has any drama ever shown a thorough chaos and orgy? yes, people do get drunk, but I think it never gets bad enough to trash cultural heritage? there are still boundaries.

filming itself can leave a mess behind. that scandal with Terry Gilliam where he was thought to have altered a church in spain, turned out to be false alarm. I guess filmmakers are mostly responsible people (even though I have some experience where they weren´t). Dramas always film in historical palaces and places. seems like they have great respect towards the location. hopefully. and clean up their trash.

watching: Strongest Delivery Man, Criminal Minds (parkour clips on Insta from teacher!) and started Live up to your name cause I like "into the future" plots. annoyed that I Can See Your Voice s4 has no more episodes. when is s5? is there any similar game format /music show? I NEED that show.

question: what is the worst chaos you´ve witnessed?

So I started two TW-dramas, after a long time of not watching any (because I couldn’t take the goofiness). However these two dramas are good so far.

The first one is “Attention Love”, and this drama reminds me a bit of “It Started with a Kiss” if the heroine had a backbone and the hero wasn’t so mean. The male lead here is also very cold and very smart, but he is not mean (at least not yet, and hopefully he won’t be). The female lead here has a backbone, but she has already fallen for the male lead. The male lead knows that she likes him, but isn’t teasing her about it. He seems to be interested in maybe exploring a relationship with her (while she is trying her best to hide her feelings), but again his character is still inexpressive so I don’t really know. But so far, 3 eps in, I am really liking this cute show. I can only hope that it won’t fall apart.

The second is “Memory Love”, and in this one the heroine has lost her memory and ended up working at the male lead’s farm. So far, I don’t like the male lead and find his character and actions confusing. However I like the heroine, she is so sweet and has a lot of perseverance. I just hope she will end up with a worthy male lead, and not an annoying jerk. So far this show is okay (only 2 eps in), and the setup has potential, so hopefully it won't disappoint.

I also plan on checking out “When a Woman Chases a Man”, to see if it is any good.

Girl, I was writing about the same two dramas literally four comments earlier (yay, I'm not alone!). I also decided to pick up some TW dramas, and since I knew both female leads from their previous works, I chose Attention, Love and Memory Love. Same as you, I'm casually optimistic (I know that TW dramas especially can hit you with an ubearable level of idiocy and cheesiness sometimes, so I'm careful for now).

I think for now, I like Memory Love more, the premise is interesting (though kind of melo like, lol), so I'm curious how are they going to execute it. As for the main lead, I won't agree with you. I think Shao Tian is an adorkable tsundere, at least that's the vibe I'm getting from him. He is a jerk at times, but I treat it more as a plot device. You know, same old, same old: he keeps misunderstanding heroine, then realizes his mistakes, influenced by her he slowly changes and becomes a loving, sweet guy (he definitely has that in him, as shown in the thunderstorm scene ?). My shallow self also has to mention that he's very (and I mean veeeeery) nice to look at. I mean damn, so hot... ?

As for Attention, Love, I started enjoying it for real in ep 3, the first two seemed a lot like an introduction. What I appreciate is the fact, that we don't get standard smart handsome jerk, who would throw the heroine around just because she's in love with him. And the heroine herself is so sweet and innocent, even if a little bit silly in her reactions at times.

I just went back up and read your comment, what a coincidence that we're both watching the same two dramas!

Okay I will try to view the male lead in "memory love" in a more positive light, but I hope that his tsundereness will make sense, and like you said he will most probably become a loving guy towards her as the show goes on :) But yes, so far I am liking "Attention Love" more, even though I agree that the first two episodes were just setup. However who knows which I will end up liking most in the end, they both are still at their beginning. But let's hope that neither turns into an idiocy and cheese fest!

That's my biggest fear! I really enjoy them for now, to the point that I'm agonizing over slow update and ONE episode per week (got used to Korean two episodes a week schedule and it's weird to have only one) and rewatching some of my favourite scenes while waiting. That's why I'm really anxious that they'll turn out bad later on.

I have completely given up on Taiwanese dramas. Now that their bigger actors are turning to the Chinese market, the current leads are really just the "leftovers" and also not-that-pretty. I'm sounding real mean here, but really there is no one that I'd want to watch. In fact, I literally looked up all the upcoming dramas for the year and there is not one drama with an appealing cast. Just a bunch of unknown names. Not to mention that the plots are often very very cheesy.

I've actually checked out the trailers for both dramas and my takeaways are:
1. The leads for AL are too old for their roles.
2. The plot for ML is too dated.

Or perhaps I'm just a little too harsh on the productions. They are constrained by limited budget and there is little they can do really.

I, on the other hand, can't get used to Chinese dramas. This re-dub thing they're doing, though I understand its necessity, is ruining my viewing pleasure completely. I was really eager to watch Love O20, since it's such a big hit, but I couldn't get over this weird thing with voices.

I'm not really well-oriented in TW-Chinese actors, I only know those that I've seen in a drama before (and this list is not very long), so I don't have a problem with 'unknown' cast. I know female leads for both AL and ML, and that's enough for me.

1. I agree on that one, but I don't really have a problem with that. Kim Jung-hyun (Tae-Swoon ?) is also clearly too old to play a high schooler, but I don't mind it in a slightest. As long as the actor-actress is doing a good job, I can overlook the age problem. Also, we might get a timeskip, who knows.
2. Also true, but I'm in here for the angsty melo ? And for Andy Chen. I figured it will be something like Falling for Innocence on memory loss streoids, so I'm curious. Also, Andy Chen ?

I don't watch TW dramas anymore, because I also see the decline, nothing catches my interest. I simply figured that those two will be a nice touch of something different in my dominated by Korean music and Korean dramas life. And I'm really enjoying them for now.

Finished Forest of Secrets yesterday and boy what a ride it was. Am so glad I waited for it to finish airing as I can't imagine having to wait for the next episode to air. Even till the last 3 episodes I was still unsure of the true mastermind behind everything. Everyone was suspicious and full of secrets. My verdict - drama is so good, cast is awesome and I mean everyone, up to the side characters. Yet another drama that shows you don't always need romance to make it worth watching.

Drama I'm currently watching as it airs, Falsify. Can't help but giggle when the truck of doom makes an appearance. Also, can't help but draw similarities to NGM's character in Chief Kim....

Also, saw that Netflix has more awesome dramas like Misaeng and Age of Youth (on top of their fantastic English shows). Gosh, I'm gonna have to give up something to finish watching everything!

So now I'll just enjoy reading Beanies' comments about each show. Perhaps I'll have more dramas to watch in Oct. ;)

Late to the party once again, but here I am!! :)

In real-life news, the US is fighting an infestation of effing nazis (and we will win, make no mistake.) As one twitter person said "First, they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT THIS TIME, mother#@*"

So it's been super-stressful but we're all doing what we can. What can you do? Be kind to people, especially people who are different from you, no matter where you live.
****

In fantasy life, I have stopped watching Bride of the Water God because it's getting too ridiculous. (Making a grown-ass woman with a Ph.D act like she's 13 because of her sexual attraction to her houseguest? That's where my disbelief is too heavy to lift.)

I picked Strongest Deliveryman back up because my son got hooked on it (the family that watches K-drama together, stays together, I guess.) I still hate the writing. But it has provided interesting discussion about responsibility and the role of punishment.

I also picked up Forest of Secrets, which: WOW. I'm thrilled it's over so I don't have to wait impatiently each week. The writing? Awesome! The acting? Awesome! How did I not know about the awesomeness of Bae Do-na? I'll be so sad when it's over!

In Library news, three new people went home with dramas, and came back to demand more. I'll be buying "Mystery Queen" next.

Hi! I'm trying to get involved here and comment more - apologies in advance, lol! - it's hard because I rarely ever chase a drama while it's airing, I usually wait until it's done. I'm currently watching "Falling in Love With Innocence", having finished "Healer" in the Spring this year (with a few other older dramas in there).

On to the reason for my comment/post: is it possible to have a page here where we can ask for drama recommendations?

Like, "I just finished watching 'Go Ho's Starry Night' (and seen 'High End Crush') and would like to watch something similar. Can you recommend something?"

Because, I have just finished just finished watching 'Go Ho's Starry Night' (and seen 'High End Crush') and would like to watch something similar. Can you recommend something?

Wednesday 3:30 PM is similar, in that it's a shorter web drama. It's pretty cute too. Secret Message is really good, as is One Sunny Day. There was also Noble My Love which I didn't really like as much, but it's cute.

Also there's Thumping Spike and Love Cells each of which have 2 seasons. I didn't like them as much, but they're cute.

If you're looking for longer drama recommendations (i.e. 16-20 one hour episodes), I'd suggest going to the recaps and looking at the ratings tab, which has a pretty extensive list of all the dramas covered here. Clicking on the titles will take you to the recaps or articles posted about the dramas so that you can find something.

For web or short drama, Splish Splash Love is one of the best! But... you've probably already seen that.

Can you tell us more about why you liked Go Ho and High End Crush? Rom-coms are so convoluted these days, we might have to dig for classic recommendations. And let us know what other dramas you liked in the past. ^__^

Thanks, Mary, I didn't know I could do that.

I liked the humour and the way the relationships developed in both "High End Crush" and "Go Ho's Starry Night". I guess maybe it's how they went from (seemingly) "enemies" for lack of a better word to romantic partners, but also in both the male lead is already "there" when the female lead is still thinking he's an idiot.

That they have Jung Il Woo and Kim Young-kwang as the male leads *maaaaaaaaaaaay* have helped as I lurv them <-- purely in a noona/ahjumma way, of course. O:)

I am a huge fan of rom-coms, occasionally I need something like "Healer" for a change. Right now, thought, I'm in the headspace where something along the lines of both "High End" and "Go Ho" (probably because there's no real "drama" in them and there's a lot in my life right now).

Thank you for the replies!

Ah, I feel you about needing a proper romcom recently. I can't think of a recent one that will fit exactly. The closest is probably Fight My Way. But you're right about looking for shorter dramas since FMW still has some downer episodes. :( I didn't see SnarkyJellyfish already replied when I wrote my first comment. Huge Kim Young-kwang fan here! *waves excitedly* Have you seen all his other dramas? LOVE RAIN was when I was introduced to him and never looked back. I know you don't like too much drama now, but LOOKOUT was amazing and recently aired. Also, for a short web drama with him, try KARA: Secret Love, episodes 3-4 (I posted where you can watch this on my fan wall). It was only a couple hours. And if you haven't seen Nine-by-Nine Boys, that's also a good one. Actually, just watch everything he's in, you won't be disappointed. I even watched Man Living in our House for him--and skipped all the mob boss/mafia parts--and he was ADORBS. I'm watching White Christmas next which is NOT rom-com. I don't know if you'll actually come back and see this, but I'm kind of obsessed with him right now--but like you--purely in a noona/ahjumma way, of course ;-) .
