Before cutting my hair I used to bun up my hair, and I’ve always wondered how K-stylists make the tied-back hair (not the bun itself, but the part in front) look textured.

This video shows the trick! ✨ No subs but the visuals are easy to follow, no styling products needed (unless your hair is too silky smooth I guess?)

      Interesting. Didn’t understand a thing, but thankfully hair is universal. Would love to try this but I actually think my hair is too long! It’s so heavy in a bun. Headaches become a problem. 😒

        Oh yes if it’s too long don’t bun it up too much, it’ll stress out your scalp! Maybe you can try the same technique but just bun up the top part like this:

I have a present for School 2017 Beanies 🙈💝

PD Park Jinseok wrote a letter to all 30 students of Class 2-1. I decided to translate it because it speaks volumes about the kind of PD he is, which I believe is key to the warmth we feel from this drama.

It’s tempting to just skip to the main characters, but I hope that you will read what he said to the other actors too. Most of them only appear on screen for a few seconds over the whole drama, but each of them put in a lot of effort. To help put a face to each unfamiliar name, I’ve also translated Class 2-1’s attendance list.

Hope you’ll find this as heartwarming as I did ^^

        It definitely says a lot about him as a person. I’m sure PD’s are often rushed off their feet, facing tight deadlines but even then, he noticed all of them and left thoughtful, appreciative notes for all for all of them! Not only is it immensely charming but so touching as well. It definitely gives me the impression that he’s a sweet, kind fellow!

    Even PD-nim felt 16 episodes to be a bit short for this school drama. He could wish he can give a bit more opportunity to the other cast members to shine, but time constraints won't allow it.

      Yes, I read his blogpost in which he was explaining why the rooftop scene between Eunho and Taewoon got cut although it was in the episode preview. And he mentioned that sometimes they get too much material and limited air time, so they have to cut out certain storylines. I get the feeling he’s especially sorry to Seo Jihoon because his love triangle and story with Issue got chopped out entirely.

        Oh, too bad. With this number of characters, I think this ought to be at least a 20-episode drama. Even the minor characters are written uniquely in a lovable way that we want more of them. How can I move on? 😥

School 2017: Beneath the clumsy technicalities lay a heart of gold that wrapped me up in all its charms and made me love it, warts and all.

We may not have gotten Kyungwoo x Sarang, or Kyungwoo and Hyunil’s story, but in turn we were offered unexpected new friendships and estranged friends who find their way back to each other, a seemingly childish prankster figure that bound together a group of different personalities, the undulations of parent-child relationships, and comical but kind teachers who happen to have the right words just when you need it the most.

Goodbye show, thank you for giving me all that I wanted from a drama, and then some more 💜

    Beautifully written, @purpleteapot. It’s not a perfect show by all means. The writing definitely left a lot to be desired. But it has lots of heart and it explored all kind of different relationships which I really love. Cheers to more relatable and nostalgic coming-of-age stories like School 2017.

      I really loved the return to friendships and Taewoon’s relationship with his father in the finale :’)

      And also to my relief I fell back in love with our lemonade couple. Ep14 overdid their scenes and it became a bit cheesy for me, but Ep15 and 16 brought it back to the solid support system that their relationship was built on in the first place, and reminded me why I liked them so much.

    Seriously, loved it. He is able to navigate emotions and micro expressions pretty dang well. When he was giving up evidence against his dad was a really good example of this.

      This! Suddenly he felt so young and vulnerable, and this makes Sooji’s words to his dad—that he’s just an 18-year-old child who desperately needs his dad—all the more poignant.
