Suspicious Partner: Episodes 15-16
by LollyPip
Such a sad, pitiful puppy, and it’s all his own fault. Ji-wook’s mind is in turmoil, torn between what he knows and what he still needs to discover to correct his mistake. It doesn’t help that his feelings for Bong-hee are getting to the point that he can’t ignore them anymore. Something’s gotta give, or the poor guy is going to find himself in a true crisis.
EPISODE 15 RECAP
Ji-wook’s heart sinks as he sees Hyun-soo’s entire alibi for the day of the murder there in pictures on the bar wall, and he realizes that it was all made up. He walks back to the bar, and on the way he finds himself facing Hyun-soo, who’s walking his way.
Ji-wook somehow manages to smile, and he invites Hyun-soo back to the bar to have a drink with him. They return to find the rest of the team dead drunk, so they have a shot while Ji-wook asks about Hyun-soo’s family. Hyun-soo says vaguely that everyone in his family left.
When asked about a girlfriend, Hyun-soo admits that he doesn’t have one. He asks if Ji-wook wants to introduce him to someone, but Ji-wook gestures to Bong-hee, fast asleep on the table, and says dryly that she’s the only girl he knows. Ji-wook says jovially that he’s asking these questions to get closer to Hyun-soo, and Hyun-soo agrees that he’d like that. The others rouse and start acting goofy, and Ji-wook tells Hyun-soo to just think of them as crazy people.
In the morning, someone brings the very hungover Bong-hee some headache medicine while she’s still mostly asleep. She blinks up at him, unable to see clearly without her contacts in but fully expecting Ji-wook. She yelps when she sees that it’s Chief Bang, hurting his poor little feelings.
Chief Bang reports back to Ji-wook, who actually sent him in there, but he says that he’s not complaining about Bong-hee — he’s complaining about how stupid the both of them are acting. Heh.
Ji-wook asks him to find out everything he can about Hyun-soo, then he shyly thanks Chief Bang for all of his help lately. Chief Bang says with a big smile that quitting his job as a civil servant and coming here to work with such awesome people is the best decision he’s ever made. But a flashback to a drunken game of Truth or Dare last night shows him saying the exact opposite.
The guys both jump when they realize that Bong-hee is standing right there, and Chief Bang leaves the room so she and Ji-wook can talk (ha, they both snarl behind his back). Bong-hee asks why Ji-wook is doing a background check on Hyun-soo, and as he searches for an answer and tries to look innocent, he thinks back to a night when she’d gotten drunk after they first met Hyun-soo. When they’d gotten home, Bong-hee had thanked him for taking Hyun-soo’s case, since she felt like she was looking at herself whenever she saw him.
Ji-wook finally just tells Bong-hee that she doesn’t need to know why he’s looking into Hyun-soo. She argues that he’s her client, and Ji-wook says he’s not telling her because she doesn’t need to know. He asks how she’s feeling and she snaps back that he doesn’t need to know, ha.
She giggles at how petty they’re being, and Ji-wook reflexively smiles back. But his pretty smile reminds her of feelings she’s not supposed to be having, so she quickly leaves the room.
The team (minus Eun-hyuk) has their morning meeting, but CEO Byun keeps talking about how sick he feels, which makes Bong-hee and Chief Bang feel sick. CEO Byun vows that if he ever drinks again then they can call Bong-hee his mother, which has Chief Bang quipping that Bong-hee will have a son soon, and her firing back that she just wants his money. PFFT, I love these guys.
Ji-wook groans that his dearest wish is to have one normal meeting, but his dreams are immediately dashed when Eun-hyuk arrives with a cake. He tells them that he wants to take them all out to a fancy dinner tonight, but just the thought of more alcohol has the whole group slinking out of the room.
The murdered chef’s sister is charged with perjury and destruction of evidence, so she goes to the courthouse to be questioned by Yoo-jung. Afterward, as they’re all leaving, they run into Ji-wook and Bong-hee in the hallway. Ji-wook approaches the sister to ask why she hid the portrait of her brother, certain that the answer could help him understand the case, but she refuses to speak.
Hyun-soo walks in the park listening to music, and he sees a happy young woman walking towards him. He smiles at her, and as she passes out of his sight, she fades away to nothing.
He thinks about Bong-hee’s drunken lament, asking why the killer had to kill her ex-boyfriend Hee-joon and get her in so much trouble. We go back to the night of Hee-joon’s murder, and see that it was Hyun-soo on the roof of her neighboring building.
He’d thought she’d witnessed him moving a body and gone to her apartment to kill her, but Hee-joon had been there instead and saw his face. When Hyun-soo biked past Bong-hee on the street a few minutes later and she hadn’t recognized him, he’d realized that she never saw a thing. He decides to keep an eye on her, and if she never realizes who he is, then she’ll only know him as a good person.
He calls Bong-hee to say that he was taking a walk in the park and feeling thankful to her for his freedom. On her end, Ji-wook realizes who she’s talking to and gets right up in her face, listening in on the call.
Yoo-jung rounds the corner and sees the two of them, Ji-wook hovering inches from Bong-hee’s face, and experiences a surge of jealousy. Ji-hae finds her near tears and gets her head bitten off for asking what’s wrong.
Ji-hae spots Ji-wook and Bong-hee and decides to get a little revenge for Yoo-jung’s nasty temper. She walks past them as they bicker over whether Ji-wook can join Bong-hee when she goes to talk to Hyun-soo, and Ji-hae deliberately shoulder-checks Bong-hee right into Ji-wook’s arms.
Bong-hee quickly jumps away and walks off, Ji-wook trailing behind her looking even more shaken than she is. They call for an elevator, and when the doors open, they find themselves face-to-face with District Attorney Jang. Bong-hee freezes, remembering how he choked her the last time they saw each other.
District Attorney Jang asks nastily why Bong-hee is scared to walk into an elevator, so she steels herself and steps forward. But Ji-wook clamps down on her wrist and stops her, then steps inside first. She joins him, and he stays very close to her during the entire ride.
When they reach their floor, Bong-hee rushes out, trying to pull Ji-wook along with her. But he stays still and pulls out of her grip, giving her a look as he closes the elevator doors, leaving him alone with District Attorney Jang.
Ji-wook tells District Attorney Jang that he understands that he needs someone to blame, but he warns him that he if ever tries to hurt Bong-hee again, he’ll make sure he’s punished. Ji-wook adds that he’s an honest person and will use the law, but that he’s not afraid to get a little creative, either.
District Attorney Jang asks if Ji-wook is threatening him, and Ji-wook replies that yes, he most certainly is. He gets right in his face to say that if he touches Bong-hee again, then he’ll do the exact same thing to him.
Ji-wook finds Bong-hee outside, looking ready to knock his block off. She snaps at him to stay out of her business from now on, and when he tries to say it’s his business too, she says that’s only because he interfered.
Ji-wook defends that he would have interfered even if they’d been strangers. Bong-hee says that he did that once and lost his job, and Ji-wook admits that she’s right but that it was his choice.
Giving it some thought, Bong-hee says that she thinks this may really be an ill-fated relationship like he said. She tells Ji-wook that she expects him to listen and respect her wishes just like she does with his, and to stay out of it.
She leaves, but the minute she’s out of Ji-wook’s line of sight, she slumps against a tree and cries that she can’t stop her feelings for him. Ji-wook follows and sees her struggling, but he keeps his distance as she requested.
At the end of the day, Eun-hyuk asks everyone to go out with him again, but they’re all in craptastic moods. Eun-hyuk laughs his forced laugh and opens the cake he brought to work, only to find that the others ate most of it already.
He takes the last piece of cake to the riverside and sets up a little tent, then sits down to light some birthday candles and make a wish. Oh no… it’s his birthday and they all forgot. This breaks my heart.
He’s surprised to see Yoo-jung standing next to him, and she wishes him a happy birthday. She lets him know that she’s only here by accident, but she asks if she can join him. Eun-hyuk says no, but she sits anyway.
Still at work, Ji-wook suddenly remembers Eun-hyuk’s birthday and starts to text him. He rethinks the wording several times, which is adorable and shows how much he still cares what Eun-hyuk thinks.
He’s so distracted that he accidentally walks right into Bong-hee. With horror, Ji-wook realizes that he sent Eun-hyuk a one-letter text and mutters a very naughty curse, oops. He assures Bong-hee that the curse wasn’t meant for her, but she says she doesn’t care and walks away.
Eun-hyuk laughs when he sees the text, knowing what probably happened. Yoo-jung confesses that she told Ji-wook that she left him because he didn’t love her enough. Eun-hyuk says it’s too late to regret what’s been said, and Yoo-jung agrees that everything was her fault. She asks Eun-hyuk if he hates her, and he says that he does.
Another Truth or Dare flashback shows Chief Bang asking who Eun-hyuk hates most in the world. He says that there is someone he hates more than anything, but no matter how hard he tries, he can’t hate or stay mad at this person.
That night, Hyun-soo meets with Chan-ho under a dark overpass. He’s very aggressive, and Chan-ho looks so terrified that he can barely look Hyun-soo in the face. Hyun-soo says that Chan-ho never makes mistakes, wanting to know why his shoe-print was still at the murder scene, not to mention a button that he didn’t even lose there.
Chan-ho stammers meekly that he doesn’t know, and Hyun-soo says that anyone can make mistakes. Then he slams Chan-ho into his car and growls that he gets one mistake.
EPISODE 16 RECAP
With a menacing smile, Hyun-soo tells Chan-ho that if anything like this happens again, he’ll consider it a betrayal. He says that they have to continue their plans — three people have disappeared, and there are still four more to go.
Ji-wook is in a real funk, trying to give Bong-hee her space but unable to stop himself from staring at her pathetically all day long. Bong-hee notices his behavior, and later she tells Eun-hyuk that she’s starting to be able to see him as nothing more than her boss. She says she’ll just like Ji-wook as a fan from now on, but Eun-hyuk doesn’t see how that’s any different from a crush.
Bong-hee explains that as a fan, she won’t expect anything from Ji-wook. She says that she’s almost entirely over him, but Eun-hyuk remembers her drunk confession that she’ll love Ji-wook until the day she dies. He offers to help her, and motions her a bit closer.
Knowing that Ji-wook is watching them from the balcony, Eun-hyuk tells Bong-hee to laugh, then has her lean even closer. From Ji-wook’s vantage point they look awfully cozy, and he picks up the hose to spray Eun-hyuk again. But Chief Bang is there, so Ji-wook drops the hose guiltily.
Inside, Ji-wook overhears Bong-hee telling Eun-hyuk that she’s planning to meet with Hyun-soo in his neighborhood. He checks with Chief Bang, who says that Hyun-soo’s family are all dead and he has no friends. Ji-wook asks him to look into whether any of Hyun-soo’s deceased family members were the victims of a crime.
When Bong-hee leaves, Ji-wook follows her in his car. She meets with Hyun-soo for coffee and he tells her that he lost his job because he missed so much work after being arrested. He apologizes for not being able to pay her much for defending him, offering to buy her meals occasionally instead.
They’re both surprised when Ji-wook walks into the restaurant, attempting (very badly) to be sneaky about it. Bong-hee isn’t fooled by his awkward lie that it’s pure coincidence. After Hyun-soo leaves, Ji-wook tries to slink away, but Bong-hee calls him out for following her and orders him to tell her what he’s not saying about Hyun-soo.
Hyun-soo also gets a strange feeling about Ji-wook, the way he was asking a lot of personal questions and now showing up while he’s with Bong-hee. He turns back to see Ji-wook staring at him nervously and flashes an innocent smile, but the smile melts into an annoyed frown the moment he turns his back.
Ji-wook tells Bong-hee that he just has a bad feeling about Hyun-soo, but she gets a call from her mother so he says he’ll tell her more later. She goes to visit her mom at work, and while they eat lunch, Mom asks her about her boss. Bong-hee says he’s handsome and nice, with sparkly eyes, a heart as broad as his shoulders, and it’s like he has a light attached to his back because he always appears to be backlit with a halo.
Mom swoons a bit at the description, but something in Bong-hee’s voice clues her in that her baby girl is struggling. Bong-hee tearfully admits that she feels like a little girl around him, and that he rejected her. Mom tells her not to give up, because a man who makes you feel like that is special.
Ji-wook’s mom eavesdrops, muttering that a man that perfect doesn’t exist — except for her son, of course. He calls her, having dropped by to see her, and she comes outside to talk saying that there are two scary women in there, ha. Their love for each other is obvious by how much Ji-wook smiles around his mom.
She realizes how grown up he seems, remembering when he was little and they’d cried in each other’s arms after losing Ji-wook’s father. Ji-wook confesses that he doesn’t feel grown-up at all because he’s still afraid, then he sends her back to work.
Ji-wook wracks his brain for a way to connect Hyun-soo to the murder, but comes up with nothing. Then he remembers that during Hyun-soo’s trial, he’d seen Chan-ho, the forensics investigator, watching the proceedings and looking terrified when Hyun-soo was found not guilty.
He goes to the police station to speak with Chan-ho, asking if he knew the murdered chef personally. You can see Chan-ho’s guard go up as he says that he didn’t, and Ji-wook guesses that he must know Hyun-soo, then. Chan-ho denies it, so Ji-wook asks why he was at Hyun-soo’s trial, and Chan-ho lies that he was there to testify in another case.
Ji-wook says that he’ll be happy to officially confirm that, and that he’s certain that Chan-ho knows either the chef or Hyun-soo. He hands over his business card, offering to help Chan-ho if he ever needs anything. In his office later, Chan-ho watches the video of Hyun-soo’s arrest, then he seems to make a decision.
Ji-wook looks through the evidence again, wondering what motive Hyun-soo would have had to kill the chef. Yoo-jung calls to tell him that they found the missing portrait in the chef’s sister’s house, so he rushes to her office. Yoo-jung shows him pictures of the portrait, with the Bible verse written in blood. Ji-wook realizes that this was a murder of revenge.
Chan-ho tries to call him, but Ji-wook is so absorbed that he doesn’t hear his phone in his bag. Chan-ho calls Bong-hee instead, and he tells her that he knows who bought the shoes that were left in her office. They arrange to meet, unaware that Hyun-soo has cloned Chan-ho’s phone and is listening to every word.
Ji-wook misses another call, this time from Bong-hee. He finishes checking Yoo-jung’s evidence and leaves abruptly, then checks his phone to see a text from Bong-hee that she’s going to meet Chan-ho at the park. He races there, anxious to get to her before something terrible happens.
Bong-hee arrives at the meeting place, but something stops her from going to where Chan-ho is waiting. Meanwhile Chan-ho paces nervously, then he answers a call from Hyun-soo. Hyun-soo says that he’s having trouble finding Chan-ho in the dark, and Chan-ho’s eyes grow huge as Hyun-soo steps in front of him.
Ji-wook finds Bong-hee safe by her car, and he startles her by honking at her. He says that he’s the one who was scared, then he fusses at her for coming out like this alone. He calls her thoughtless, particularly after everything she’s been through.
Worked up now, he gets louder as he asks, “What if something happened to you? What were you going to do? And what about me? What would I have done??”
Bong-hee turns his question around on him, asking what she should have done when Chan-ho seemed so urgent and Ji-wook wasn’t answering his phone. Ji-wook says she should have waited and Bong-hee says she did, because going without him felt wrong.
She’d worried that something would happen and he’d scold her, but mostly, she admits, she was scared. So she didn’t go into the park and waited here for him. They both have tears in their eyes by now, and when Bong-hee wipes hers away, she loses a contact lens. It’s a reminder of how they first met, and she flicks it away angrily.
Ji-wook takes Bong-hee home, but when she starts to go to her room, he stops her. He says that he’s sorry and she asks if he means it, moving closer to check his expression and see if he’s telling the truth.
After a long moment, Bong-hee sees the sincerity in his eyes and she smiles. Satisfied, she starts to step back, but Ji-wook quickly reaches out and pulls her into a hug. He nestles his face into the crook of her neck and closes his eyes, relieved that she wasn’t hurt.
Bong-hee stands frozen, scared of being rejected again. Eventually Ji-wook ends the hug and pulls back, but only a little bit. He looks into Bong-hee’s eyes, then he gently takes her face in his hands and kisses her.
COMMENTS
I’m going to need a minute, having a little trouble breathing over here. (Screams internally for several minutes.) Okay, I feel like I can string some words together now. Maybe.
That kiss was every bit as good as I’d hoped. But even more than that, I just live for the tiny little interactions between Ji-wook and Bong-hee, the ones that show how much they care about each other even when they’re still denying it. For instance, the scene when they got in the elevator with District Attorney Jang didn’t have any dialogue at all, yet so much was communicated between Ji-wook and Bong-hee. From her tensing in fear, to his gripping of her wrist, to the look he gave her when she got out of the elevator, so many things were said that didn’t even need words: I’ll protect you… I have your back…I won’t let this man hurt you… Let me handle this. Ji-wook somehow managed to convey safety and protection to Bong-hee with just a touch and a look. It just goes to show how much in sync they are with each other (and what a gifted actor Ji Chang-wook is!).
That said, I was very proud of Bong-hee for sticking up for herself with Ji-wook, because until now she’s been a fun, sweet character, but she hasn’t really done much beyond pine after Ji-wook. It’s not easy to look the man you love in the eye and tell him to respect you or get out, but she handled the situation with his unwanted interference beautifully. I may not agree with her reasons for being angry, because I think that she was actually upset that his actions were displaying a level of caring that he’d already refused to offer to her, so she was confused.
But I can understand that she doesn’t want him sacrificing pieces of his own life for her anymore, particularly after he made it clear that he didn’t want a relationship with her. She’s correct that if he wants to keep a distance between them, then he also has to stop stepping over that boundary. And the way she asked for the same respect that she affords to Ji-wook was very strong, and really made me see her in a different light. She may be a marshmallow when it comes to Ji-wook, but she’s not going to let anyone steamroll her.
I don’t know what it is about Eun-hyuk that really tugs my heartstrings, but he’s really killing me lately. He did a terrible thing years ago and broke his best friend’s trust, but he’s not a bad person. He’s doing everything he can to show Ji-wook that he’s sorry and that he wants to reconcile, and to stay away from Yoo-jung even though he obviously still loves her. He’s actually pretty pure, and so sweet-hearted that I just want to hug him and make all his loneliness go away. I’m glad that he’s finding a friend in Bong-hee, and a place where he belongs. I’m still unsure how I feel about the potential of Eun-hyuk and Yoo-jung becoming a couple, because I just don’t feel that Yoo-jung has shown enough personal growth to deserve a wonderful man like Eun-hyuk. But on the other hand, I want him to be happy and loved, so if being with her would make him happy, and if she truly loved him (remembering his birthday was a decent start), then I want it for him.
I’m starting to get some I Remember You vibes in the last couple of episodes, what with the killer turning out to be a pair of men instead of a single murderer, and I mean that as a very high compliment. But it’s a very different dynamic here — rather than a father/son, mentor/student relationship, Hyun-soo and Chan-ho’s relationship feels more like a hostage situation.
It seems obvious now that Hyun-soo is the murderer and that it’s Chan-ho’s job to make sure the murder locations are clean of evidence. But the way Chan-ho responded to Hyun-soo when we finally saw them together, plus the dismayed expression on his face when Hyun-soo was acquitted, tell a very complicated story. Chan-ho appears to be an unwilling participant in this partnership, and I wonder what Hyun-soo is holding over him to keep him under his thumb. I’m also very curious about Hyun-soo’s statement that they’ve killed three and have four more to go — are they doing the seven deadly sins? We’ve already gotten a fantastic homage to The Usual Suspects, so it would be interesting to continue that trend by honoring the awesomeness that is Se7en.
But despite his assisting a murderer to go free, there’s something about Chan-ho that’s small and vulnerable, as if a part of him wants to get off this ride. It has me hoping for someone to reach out to him, and save him from the hell he’s stuck in. The evidence at the chef’s house seems to have been an attempt to get Hyun-soo caught so that Chan-ho could be free, and that his expression of fear and dismay at the trial was because he had failed. Maybe Ji-wook will be the one to rescue Chan-ho, and that together they can stop Hyun-soo from murdering again, and save each other in the process.

Does anybody know if dramafever episodes have cut out some parts? Because I'm on episode 10 and they showed the part where BH hurt her ankle and NJW carried her and took care of her as flashbacks. But I don't remember seeing this before. Also, does anybody know why BH's mom quit massaging and got a new job?

@littlemisssunshine Dramafever hasn't cut out any parts that I've watched.
She originally hurts her ankle at the end of ep. 7, then again when she beats up the bad guys in ep. 8, after which JW cared for her.
BH's mom quit massaging because her hands/wrists couldn't take the strain anymore. They showed her with the patches and trying to massage them out several times.

LOL, right? I swear, when these two can't help but smile at each other and get that loving expression in their eyes it is just the sweetest thing. A part of me wanted all this delicious longing to go on longer, but when they look at each other like that, it seriously makes me wonder how they fought it as long as they did!

Actually the whole OST is handled magnificiently, and I don't mean the songs and ballads but the orchestral OST. The melody that plays when Lawyer Noh is talking to his mother is beautiful.

I feel like it must be. Those two have had feels for each other for a couple of episodes now and neither flashed back to any previous kiss. Like if I were BH and JW kissed me while he was drunk and I was sober enough to remember it, how could I not be staring at his lips and replaying the kiss all the time?! And same goes for JW since he's had feelings for her for a few episodes now.

Such brilliant writing n brilliant pace. Last episode i was taken aback with the big reveal of the murderer. This episode i was shocked by the kiss. But the built up to the kiss was beautiful. With breadcrumbs starting from ep15. N the kiss itself was a great first kiss. Now only if next episode rewinds n resumes the kiss..

- I love how Chief Bang is always so disappointed that BH doesn't have an excited reaction to see him
- I love how they both have such fantastic relationships with their moms! It's heartwarming.
- EH playing fairy godmother and how JW was about to water them again when he realized Bang was staring at him with that "what the heck" look
- EH's happy smile when JW accidentally sent him a one character message
- Ahhh kiss! But also ahhhh Chan Ho! Noo!
On Eun Hyuk: Gahhh I spend every episode feeling heartbroken for this puppy. It was his birthday! They ate the cake without him and ignored him when he was doing the fake-happiness act. I don't blame them for it, but my heart just hurts so bad for EH. It's a terrible feeling to feel completely alone. And how he really wanted to let YJ stay but still forced himself to say no? I feel so bad for EH because he's been punishing himself for so many years. I can't expect JW to forgive him, but I want him to, because EH has been punished enough.
On Bong Hee: I understand BH's anger toward JW in telling him to not to meddle. I almost pulled my hair out in frustration because of JW's actions, and I understand where she's coming from - he told her not to fall for him, and yet continues to be sweet and caring. From BH's POV, it's wholly irresponsible, because it's like saying "I'm going to do all these swoony moves, but guess what? You can't fall for me, so deal with it yourself." It was difficult for BH and JW wasn't making it any better. On that note, I'm glad he finally decided to own up to his feelings.
On Hyun Soo & Chan Ho: Ok, eeks. HS officially creeps me out. I think CH probably committed a sexual crime before, and HS "let him off" on the condition that he repents by helping him take down the rest? HS saying 3 disappeared and 4 more would makes me think that whatever happened in the past had been carried out by a group of men and HS is taking revenge one by one. CH doesn't seem like he wants in anymore, but is too afraid of HS. Agh, I'm so afraid for him!
On Yoo Jung: Just a side note, but I don't think she's "poorly written" per se, she's just written so that we can't help but dislike her. She's perhaps not as fleshed out because we don't get that much airtime of her, but my POV is that she's just someone who's aware of what she's doing to attempt to get what she wants (she'd hoped JW would stay longer at the prosecutor's office, she searched for EH on purpose to wish him happy birthday and try to get him back on her side) but is selfishly expecting too much from a friendship that she broke. She wants things to be simple so that she can easily get her relationships back, but obviously it's not working out for her and we all dislike her.

I would like everyone to remember also that there are people who force a smile in real life, who are very lonely on the inside and would be happy at the tiniest gesture. at work there is this guy whose wife died last year and he´s resorted to drinking. He always makes these un-funny jokes and most of us have always snarkily and abruptly said it is not funny but I have become very careful... cause having people laugh at them is like that one letter text for him. to notice people who might be depressed, sad and lonely, please pay attention. they dont always look that way.

I'm going to voice will be a SUPER unpopular opinion (but please don't downvote me...hear me out...I may be waaay off, but I just want to think it through :). This is about YJ---I just don't actually dislike her. Oh, I hate and totally condemn what she did. Wrong on every possible level. But EH was just as wrong, and I find it interesting that it's easy to forgive him but not her. I don't think that's a gender double standard (though often in real life it is); I think it's because he's shown real and true remorse, and she hasn't. I agree with much of what's been said about her--she's selfish, immature, and deluded to think she could just come back and have things the way they were. But I also think that if she were brought to really feel regret and remorse, I could like her. The first scene of her (when she met BH) showed her to be totally awesome. The kind of female character I like. And she's a strong prosecutor, committed to justice; she also has a good sense for it. To me, it's her lack of remorse that's a problem. And I hope the show will bring her to that, give her a real moment of growth and enlightenment. Because I think her character has a lot of potential to be awesome. She just needs some growth and reflection.

No, I totally agree with you. I don't think it would be an unpopular opinion, because from what I recall in past recaps, people were condemning her because she showed no guilt toward her actions. I know a lot of us were halfway in love with EH but holding back because we suspected he'd been the other party in the affair.
But what makes EH different, like you mentioned, is the fact that he showed so much guilt and he's been paying for it all these years. That's what makes it so easy to forgive him. I think I read a lot of comments along this line too! It probably doesn't have much to do with his gender.
If he'd been like YJ, I wouldn't have forgiven either of them. YJ ran away and left the boys to deal with the hurt and broken friendship and this is the part of her character that I dislike. She seems like a spunky woman who I'd normally really like in a drama, but with the way things are going, she seems to have 2 characters: the sassy woman who's good at her job, and the whiny child who can't understand what she did wrong.

Yeah! I think you hit the nail on the head: she seems like two characters. And I guess I am hoping the show lets those two meld into one more mature, likeable one. I do think that her reaction is a little realistic, though. I mean, we'd like her to be repentant, but the truth is, sometimes its hard to admit when youve messed up that bad...and she may have been hoping that it would be easy to fix because that would imply it wasnt as bad as she knows (deep down) that it was. Now that its becoming obvious that it wont be an easy fix, hopefully that opens up the way for her to let herself see how wrong it was, and then try to fix things (as EH has been doing with JW).

same! I think the writers must have a plan, though; otherwise, why go to all the trouble of making her likeable at first? Not only did we like her at first, but so did BH. And I feel like you only do that as a writer when you want the audience to later come around to liking your character. It would have been easy enough to write her as just being hateable (sort of like her asst/BH's nemesis/cheater whose name i never learned). fingers crossed. so far the writer has not disappointed me, so...!

I could totally see her and Bong Hee teaming up and kicking some butt like when they first met (that was so badass to watch). But after learning that she's the ex-girlfriend who completed destroyed Ji Wook, my problem with her is that she shows no remorse. She simply expects to walk right back into Ji Wook's life and for everything to be like it was before. Eun Hyuk is far from innocent but at least he realizes the hurt that he's caused and sticks by Ji Wook's side even though Ji Wook hates, showing that he is sincerely sorry and still values there friendship.

They actually made her seem less delusional this week - her showing JW the frame without trying to hold him hostage to her emotions and remembering EH's birthday. She remembered his birthday tradition, sought him out to wish him happy birthday, and actually saw EH when she was speaking to him (when previously, he was more like a path to JW).
I did like how the lampshaded YJ's uncoolness with Ji Hae going like "YJ isn't as cool as I thought she was".
I really wish they hadn't gone the "I'm coming back for JW" route since she and BH had one of the best intros to each other. Since writer of Suspicious Partner wrote one of my favorite 2nd female leads, Na Yoon from Protect the Boss, I'm really hoping they'll work some miracle to fix YJ.

Hi Lezah. As usual, I liked your comment.
Yet, Abut Yoo Jung, let me tell you, she is not completely hateful. Do you want to meet a very, very, very hateful second lead girl? Watch "wish upon a star"... that one is like the worst in dramaland. I don't even remenber her name.
Anyway, Yoo Jung... yes, she is selfish, but we don't know why... as you said, we don't get that much airtime of her... there is nothing about her family, the way she was raised, her hobbies, or the true reason of why she cheated. People are not black and white... even if the show doesn't give us that, there must be a reason why she is doing what she is doing (or not doing)... if in 32 half an hour episodes we will never have them, then yes, I would say she is just bad written.
But then again, until now, I don't dislike her completely. I feel she is just unaware of what she did wrong, that is why she keeps on asking why they "hate" her...

I got the feeling Yoo Jung "coincidently" appeared at EH's birthday campout expecting to also see JW. I don't think she is aware that their friendship became estranged to the degree it did. When she ambushed EH, she said they were ganging up to avoid her. More of her self-centered thinking not to have thought what happened to the guys' relationship, just what she lost.

when Bonghee was describing Jiwook to her mom, i feel for her. the way she mentions things about Jiwook shows that she's fiercely in love with him, and there's no way she's over him. poor girl (but not so poor after ep 16 ends! bwahahahah)
and i LOLed when Jiwook's mom casually listening to their convo. and somehow i think Jiwook got his empathy from his mom - his mom could appear petty at times (Jiwook does this too) but they are easily saddened whenever people around them are suffering or sad. i thought his relationship and his mom is a bit distant, but it appears not. he seems to have easy rapport with his mom, and i love that.

me too! She even looked sympathetic when BH was tearfully saying how her perfect boss that she is totally in love with rejected her. Yes, she dislikes BH and her mom, but I think once she realizes that JW is the man that BH thinks so highly of and loves so much and that she will have BH's mom tied to her forever, she'll accept BH. Also, obviously, once they catch the person who framed BH.
I'm really surprised that she didn't recognize BH. Her son lost his prosecutor job because of BH. But she is probably one of those moms would be proud and accepting of anything her son does - even if JW decides to quit law and become a travelling magician.

"His shoulders as wide as the Pacific, and his heart too. there are only stars in his eyes, and he goes around with a light a the back of his head. you know, like a halo. like he was born to give me heart attack."
it might not *that* poetic but i could understand her. it's sad and beautiful and the same time. sigh.

That kiss.
Squeeeeeeeeeeee ?. I loved it. He had to show that he's interested in her but afraid to pursue a relationship. He couldn't keep his feelings in check any longer. I'm anticipating what will happen next. I really want to see the look on chief Bang's face.
I am intrigued with the villain story. I can't help but feel really sorry for Chan ho. Did Chan ho steal Hyunsoo's girl & Is he being punished for it by cleaning up the mess? Is chan ho related to hyunsoo?
In EPs 13-14, we saw our attorneys drunk and spilling a lot of secrets (blame the alcohol), in this episode we heard Hyunsoo tell CH that there are still more deaths to occur. I couldn't help but think, what if HY found out about Eunhyuk's sin? EH is definitely a target isn't he?
Eunhyuk's birthday is one of the saddest things I have watched. I just want to hug him. *sigh*

Yes! EH persisted in getting his colleagues to join in the get together at the end of the day, but nobody was interested in. Aww.. and it turned out all he wanted was people to celebrate his birthday with him. The poor puppy.. when he had to celebrate his birthday with his half eaten cake in the park, I felt so much for him. Although it was a consolation, I didn't like it that YJ was the one who remembered his birthday and brought along a gift. And what message did JW just send him? H? That was it? Why didn't he rectify the message when he realized he accidentally sent it? But I suspect EH knew what he meant anyway. So sweet.

Honestly with each episode I fall more and more in love with this drama and the characters (aka my children ♥)
I may or may not have cried when Eun-Hyuk sat down with his almost eaten birthday cake all alone (it was so mean that they ate his cake without him). At least Yoo-Jung came by. Despite the shitty thing they did to Ji-Wook, I am still rooting for them so hard. Eun-Hyuk loves her so much, but doesn't want to further endanger his already fragile relationship with Ji-Wook (and how cute was it that Ji-Wook wanted to congratulate him but also didn't? and so bittersweet that Eun-Hyuk was happy to even get one letter in a text.... I need them to make up, already. this broken bromance is hurting me), and Yoo-Jung is still to hung up on Ji-Wook and needs to move on. Gurl, you burned that bridge down by cheating, so just let it go.
Hyun-Soo creeps me the f out. And I need to know more about his relationship to Chan-Ho and why Chan-Ho helps him to cover up his murders. And I was also surprised to learn that Hee-Joon's murder seemed to be nothing more than wrong place wrong time. I thought Hyun-Soo in his deranged mind wanted to avenge Bong-Hee after Hyun-Soo cheated on her and was a giant dick, but apparently he was about to kill her.... I'm afraid for my children.
Also: I CANNOT wait for the mothers to figure out who their kids are in love with. I love the moms and their relationship.

Well, important things first: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. He went for it. He caught me by surprise. I was just expecting a hug/confession! Personally, my favorite part of a romance is the phase when they're just grappling with their feelings and figuring out how to start their romance. But something about this couple's interactions and their need for a stable, dependable partner in their lives has me looking forward to how their romance will go now that he's ready to take a chance!
Lol. So, perhaps, Hyun-soo and Chan-ho are not "Suspicious Partners" per say? Tell me, when even Villain #1 turns out to be frightened of Villain #2, what does that mean for us? I'm scared now, somebody hold me. No, seriously, though, Hyun-soo was so freakin' scary at the end, especially doused in that red lighting.
Haha, the kiss did give me temporary amnesia though and I had to remind myself that I'm should be fearing for Chan-ho's life, not swooning. Maybe this is the amnesia they've been talking about, LOL?
Thanks for the recap! Many more thoughts, but I'll have to come back later!

I was still mentally screaming at them to save CH. but you're right, they had no idea of the danger CH is in. I think JW suspected that CH and HS were close enough for HS to not murder CH. JW knew HS killed the chef out of revenge. He doesn't know that this guy is also killing people who inconvenience him.

Same here, what's the amnesia angle? He recalls a whole lot more for an amnesiac serial killer on the loose. Or is it, that he has forgotten parts of his life before he started his killing spree related to some crime and abuse and relives that scenario with new victims.
I also have a question regarding the first "Pervert" Bong Hee and Ji Wook encountered on the train which led to the first misunderstanding who later made an appearance in front of them. I don't if you guys remember but he stated that he wanted to be in jail because he was afraid. He had described watching a guy drag a body or dump a body on a rooftop while he was trying his peeping tom / daily dose of perversion routine. Bong Hee had done the same thing the night her ex died in her apartment, she had gone to her window/balcony to get fresh air. Except she can't see without her glasses but there was someone on the rooftop in front of her window again dragging a body. Was that just a random scene or does that carry some significance??

sooo.. not sure if anyone will read this by the time the next ep airs... but I have a theory about the amnesia angle.. I'm thinking at this point that its actually the crime scene guy (chan ho?) that has amnesia and is killing people, with the other guy (hyun soo?) cleaning it up for him... but then he (CH) forgets he committed a crime and maybe only remembers enough bits and pieces that he thinks he's being blackmailed by HS somehow, which is why he's trying to get him jailed for it.. anyone have some thoughts? @chandler

Thanks for the recap!
-Wow, JW is a good actor. The way he shifted towards being friendly and unassuming when he ran into HS was impressive.
-JW's habit of trying to listen in on BH's phone calls is one of my favorite things. I feel sympathy for JW when BH blows up at him and pushes him away, but a small part of me is satisfied cause the tables have turned and now we get pouty-sad JW, pouty-angry JW, and pouty-jealous JW.
-Poor EH. I felt bad about his cake because dang, I'd be sad too if someone ate my cake, but then we found out it was his birthday and I almost cried for him.
-Wow, I thought BH was bad at being sneaky but JW is somehow worse. I take back what I said about him being a good actor...His whole "What a coincidence!" thing was possibly the least believable sentence ever uttered.
-I really started to feel the suspense when everyone was headed to the park. I'm so worried for CH (who I didn't expect to suddenly feel sympathetic towards in the space of one episode), so I'm glad for the romance moving forward and all but like...Guys!! Why didn't you look for him!! He was trying to do the right thing!!
-That last scene though. My reaction went something like this: "He's gonna kiss her! He's going in! He's going...right on past her face...for a hug. Oh...Oh? OH OH OH." And then it was basically incoherent screeching.

Omgg how could they end it, when they just STARTED kissing?! (Which I totally wasn't expecting in the first place, I thought JW would withdraw as usual)
And what happened to Chan-ho after he got caught? I'm dying to know, but I just hope he doesn't turn up dead.
There was so much I liked in this episode:
-JW confronting the DA: I couldn't breath, that was so charismatic and hot
-BH's assertiveness: asking JW to respect her wishes and telling him she's angry
-JW's longing looks, gaaaawd! (as always)
-JW's interaction with his mom, aaawww that was really cute and sincere
-EH lonely birthday breaks my heart (all of HIM does), but the fact that a single meaningless letter from JW makes him so happy breaks my heart even more :'(
-EH shipping JW+BH by making JW jealous. Goossh, this boy deserves some love.
-Literally anything Chief Bang does! I've decided he's my favorite character.
-The flashbacks!! Wow, they worked so well in showing us everyone's true/untrue feelings. I kind of wish JW had been drunk with them, so we would've gotten something out of him too.
-We get to see Hyun-soo's true colours. Damn, is he a terrifying jerk. Now Chan-ho seems like a deer caught in headlights facing him. I'm curious about they relationship: what "mistake" did Chan-ho make? It's still unclear how the amnesia fits in, but that girl HS "saw" in the park is probably a hint.
Lastly, there are little things this show introduced, but I'm wondering if it intends to build up on them: (a) JW's father's death and who actually killed him (the DA?), (b) Back when BH's mom visited BH in prison and said it wasn't "the first time" she had to experience such a situation...referring to BH's dad (did he go to prison? Was he wrongly accused? Is it why BH decided to go into law?)
Thanks for the recap!!

I was so sad for EH when he found everyone had ate his cake. I could imagine that he was already upset to find out that no one would be joining him on his birthday and to have that added disappointment of not being involved of sharing that cake when he bought it in?
I am glad that YJ cared enough to come and try celebrate it with him because he obviously still loves her (even though I don't think she's reciprocating it) - side note, I thought it was adorable when JW sent that one character message when he was overthinking it to begin with, I'm so glad that it was sent!!
I was not expecting that kiss at all tbh, not until it came and then I was like omg. I thought JW would have confessed at the end of the episode and it end there. I am so not complaining about it though bc *happy grin* ? So excited for the next episode.
I'm worried about Chan Ho and I'm starting to feel sympathy for him because he clearly doesn't want to be clearing up Hyun Soo's trail. I think he left that button and those footprints on purpose so that's why he looked gutted after JW won the trial. I'm also terrified for BH because either hers or CH's phone is tapped (I always wonder how they figure out that their phone is hacked bc if it was me it would take me forever lol)

Yay for kiss-confessions! I haven't been so satisfied with the kisses in korean dramas for a long time as I am now with all the dramas I'm actively watching.
I think YJ came to celebrate his birthday for him because she remembered their friendship and... maybe she's trying to mend it back together, but she's not doing a very good job at that because what EH wants isn't her friendship, and what she wants is JW back.

Ah the killers, yes.
In the previous episode, I commented on the recaps that I feel like Chan Ho and Hyung Soo are Lee Hyun and Lee Min from I Remember You, but not really. Now it looks more like Lee Joon-Ho and Lee Min.
So sorry for always bringing up I Remember You---I LOVEEED THAT DRAMA--- and suspicious partners gives me feelings of nostalgia.
I really need an I Remember You crossover, I'd even take a Lee Joon Ho cameo. Oh right, what if Chan Ho and Hyung Soo are one of Lee Joon Ho's "k**s"? (filtering so as not to spoil any of you thinking about taking up IRY). And the whole CSI thing for Chan Ho too.
Waves to IRY fans---frantically-----
Writer-nim, my hats off to you once again. This is a total remake and you really really are nailing it again. More more more!
P.S. Though Suspicious Partners is not as nuanced as IRY had been, there's definitely that charm again. In fact, I think both dramas should be seen consecutively. Suspicious Partners will be the palette cleanser.

Thank you for the recap @lollypip. I completely agree with you about our leads. They are so in sync with each other that mere looks are enough to convey their heartfelt feelings. I have never seen a couple in a show more in tune with each other than these two. Even when they are trying to deny their feelings, they so naturally fall back into their bickering. I just love watching all those tiny moments that define their relationship.
There were so many things to love and squeal over in this episode:
1. THAT KISS.. *&(^()^)(^)!!! Enough said!
2. THAT HUG. It was so intimate and the way he squeezed her <3. It was like he finally found relief and relaxed in her arms..
3. Eun-Hyuk- Poor puppy. I got so heartbroken when I realized that it was his b'day and the others ate his cake without him. I just wanted to go into the screen and give him a hug.
4. JW longing after BH. You brought that on yourself, dood!
5. JW and BH arguing in that park. They both were running high on emotions that they were forced to confront their feelings.
6. JW eavesdropping on BH's call. That never gets old :D
6. Lawyer Byun in gloves and washing dishes. LOL
In my fangirling about the kiss, I totally forgot about the danger Chan-Ho is in. I was so scared for him ever since his call from Hyun-Soo in the park but JW and BH side tracked me. Hyun-Soo has gone into full creepy mode. There's a sense of danger whenever he is on screen.
I am so looking forward to the next ep <3

The scenes where JW always eavesdrops on BH's telephone conversations are so hilarious. I have a great time laughing at those scenes.
I love how BH is always looking at JW close up whenever she does not have her contacts or glasses. It makes the intimacy more palpable, and I feel JW cannot lie/has nowhere to hide his true feelings whenever she does that.
I love how JW is always watching out for BH. It's so sweet. I can understand why she would think the world of him when she's describing him to her mom. I would too.

I kept wondering about this 'loophole' from the earlier of this drama till now. Remember that before Bong Hee's ex bf was murdered like 2 years ago , we seen the murdered dropping a looklike wrapped up dead body into the water tank at the rooftop opposite of where Bong Hee was staying that time and he thought that she have seen his doing. Why throughout the 2 years nobody discover the body at all ??? The killer told that forensic guy that they have killed 3 so 4 more to go, so including that chef, Bong Hee's ex and the body he dropped into the water tank in total there are 3 that they murdered already.

I wondered if BH's ex counted as 1 of the 3 since he wasn't an original target. It seems like HS has a hit list of specific people that had hurt the young lady in his life.

The killer thought that Bh saw that he dropped the body and that's why he went to BH's house but BH actually didn't see what he did at that time nor recognize his face and that's why the killer said that he will be good until the end if she doesn't recognize him as the killer.

What if the killer sees the girl ( who vanished at the park) in Bonghee that is why he is sticking around her. I feel like he's experiencing this obsession after Bonghee triggered him with her determination to find him so maybe he thought "Ah I should stick with this girl to see how things will turn."

I think the killer did think that because BH was unable to recognize him when they passed by each other on the night of her ex's murder. That's why he kept putting off her murder. That's why he thought if she didn't know, he would forever remain a good guy to her.

How scary!
I also think that maybe he does want to be viewed as a good guy or he does see himself as a good guy. He isn't killing because he's a psychopath, but out of a revenge mission that twisted him to believe that the end always justify the means and that everyone else is just collateral damage.
The chef was a rapist. I wonder if the poor girl HS failed to protect was being abused and assaulted by all the people on the hit list.

Eun Hyuk what´s your number, I´ll send you a happy birthday message. I feel so sorry for him and I fear for him not cause he is in danger of being targeted by the killer but he is just too sad it is abnormal. He might think nobody needs him or something. Ji Wook-ah, please notice! I think the ice is melting for sure, but ...
the dilemma about the killer is so great, if JW tells her, she will be shocked, guilty, angry, hopeless... but he needs to tell her like right now. They cannot forget everything and be happy if he doesnt she needs to know. I understand that he wants to confirm it first and find direct evidence.
the staring game of Hyun-Soo and Ji Wook reminded me of the psychopath dinners in IRY, who else?

I truly love how this episode revolved around the truth or dare game they had during the celebration/drinking session. I really like how the Truth or Dare game was used in this episode - rarely have flashbacks been done well, but this was surprisingly good and showed the characters during a vulnerable time versus the tough words they used when sober. Sigh. As for Eun-Hyuk and Yoo-jung.... Not to sound like a broken record, but they are the weak link of this show for me, and their romance (ew). This is the one portion of the show that feels badly executed to me.

If they get together, I would feel that YJ is compromising on her ideals to get together with EH, not that she truly loves him. Unless her character undergoes a growth in trajectory throughout the show.

If I can give you a hundred thumbs up, I will, LollyPip, because week after week you post the recaps with such speed, I’m simply amazed.
Anyway, thoughts about the episode:
The last scene (naturally, obviously, and hell-yeah absolutely) saves this episode for me. There’s nothing wrong with the episode itself, I just can’t take it when all three puppies are sad!
Bong-hee. I agree whole-heartedly with LollyPip, it’s totally saying something that Ji-wook and Bong-hee are able to quickly grasp what the other is thinking/feeling without the other even needs to say it out loud.
But to me, the scene where she gets mad at Ji-wook is not just because of his contradiction (“You told me not to like you, so stop being nice and butting into my business!”) but also because she’s afraid that he’s once again jeopardizing his own sake for her. It hurts her that he’s hurting because of her, and I just want to hug Bong-hee after that scene. Noooo Bong-hee, never believes that it’s an ill-fated relationship!
Ditto Ji-wook. He’s conflicted between his fears of starting another relationship and risking to be left yet again (but Bong-hee will just cling to you forever and always like a Koala would, Ji-wook!) AND his desire to see her nothing but happy. Her tears clearly affects him so damn much and makes him equally miserable, and I’m happy that he chooses to take the leap after all.
And… Eun-hyuk! It’s his birthday, but the timing sucks because the lovebird are in a huge quarrel. But at least Ji-wook remembers. And I swear, seeing Eun-hyuk’s smile at the single word message from Ji-wook makes me warm inside. The writer’s incredible ability to switch between heart-wrenching to comedy then to heartfelt moment is simply incredible.
And I gotta sat that it’s awfully funny how often they’re drunk in this drama, even more so because the characters themselves are aware of it, LoL.
I swear, every week I question how am I supposed to survive five days(!) without any new episode.

I agree with your assessment that BH was angry and afraid that he's jeopardizing his career for her again. It has been a burden on her for years. And she knows that because of her, a lot of people looked down on this man that she looks up to so much. She wants to get a chance to save Ji Wook by clearing both their names. But she doesn't know when the real murderer will show up again and if he would leave enough clues for forensics to pick up.

Eun-hyuk made me cry, you guys. I just could not handle him alone on his birthday. COULD NOT HANDLE IT. I know, I know, after what he did, I get why they keep their personal distance, but just please don't let him be lonely anymore. I couldn't keep myself from getting just slightly bothered at everyone for eating his cake and not going to dinner with him :(
Luckily, Ji-wook texting him and, yes, even Yoo-jung giving him a present made me feel slightly better. I really just want Eun-hyuk to be truly happy by the end of this.

I think it's because nobody knows (in Ji-wook's case, he hasn't remembered) it's his birthday. They just think that it's just a normal cake and Eun-hyuk just feeling generous that day, so...
But I feel for him too, want to hug him so bad! Yes I agree, Ji-wook's mistyped text helps salvage the situation. He clearly wants to wish his (ex BFF? Soon to be restored?) BFF a Happy Birthday.

There are so many things to love about this show!
1. Ji Chan Wook - I loved him in Healer but love him even more here. He can truly say so much with just a look! That look he gave BH when she ran out of the elevator and he pulled his hand away - he perfectly conveyed his emotions and his intentions and even an apology for what he was going to do. The man is an awesome actor.
3. The rest of the cast and the acting overall - you can see in the group scenes, as well as in bts, how much the cast seems to enjoy each other. I can't get enough of the office-mates all together, whether at work or out drinking. They are too funny together (and JW's annoyance with them is priceless). I am completely sold on the crazy/evil vibe we get from our killer and the helpless horror at being involved from CH (and his fear of HS). And EH breaks my heart every episode. Kudos to the cast and writer for making every character compelling and getting me so emotionally invested.
3. The relationships. I love the affection between the lawyers/office mates - you can see how much they care for each other as friends, not just colleagues. The OTP is awesome and their respect for each other is refreshing and lovely. I love the mom's bickering, JW and EH's love-hate bromance, and the evil duo is perfectly creeping me out. (On a side note - please don't let HS kill CH!)
The story has turned out to be more interesting than I anticipated. (although I wonder what happened to the amnesia part of the killer as was originally described?) i love this show!

They kiss! Finally. Squeeeeeaaaalll! Ji Chang Wook does brooding tenderness very, very well.
Next to Circle, Suspicious Partner is my new crack! And I'm happy to have a favorite Mon, Tues and a favorite Weds, Thurs drama as well.
Lord I hope Chan ho is safe!. Something tells me Hyun Soo may murder him very soon. I love the development in the romance between Ji-wook and Bong hee but I fear they did it at the expense of progress on the investigation. I wouldn't have minded the kiss scene and the preceding scene of Ji Wook expressing his worry over Bong her if he had met with Chan ho first to get the information that he was willing to give. Now I'm afraid there will be a new victim and no traction on catching the serial killer. But thank goodness Bong hee listened to her instincts and stayed by her car.
Speaking of which, my heart broke for Eun Hyuk this episode. Celebrating his birthday alone when he planned to spend it with his friends! I am quite upset that Ji Wook remembered but couldn't even send a congratulatory text and was so relieved when Yoo jung remembered and was kind enough to stop by with a gift. Is it too much to hope that the three of them should recover their friendship? Maybe there will never be enough trust between them to rekindle their previous relationship, but they are all so lonely that my heart hurts for all three of them: Eun Hyuk, Ji wook and Yoo Jung. I can't help hoping that they can bury the past and move forward to being friends again.

Given that Hyun-soo was probably trying to prevent them from meeting him, it can be assumed that they didn't find him by the time they went to meet him or that they perhaps received a text that he wasn't coming (likely sent by HS from CH's phone). Remember that they have no idea he's in danger, even if they were a bit wary that something bad could happen. This show often has a way of retracing back to important moments to show more, so I'm sure we'll be revisiting the ending scenes to get more clear picture of how everything played out.

So, I watched this episode raw yesterday night, even though I was running low on sleep. I have watched dramas raw before but not fully, like 20 minutes or so, just enough to quench my curiousity before I spoil myself without understanding completely. But, with thus drama, I just couldn't help watching fully. Needless to say, I had happy dreams last night. Also, how cute is that eun hyuk calls ji wook "wook-ah", it could be even choi tae joon calling ji chang wook. ♥
Somebody put eun hyuk out of his misery, please. How sad it is spend your birthday all alone? Poor thing. Please reconcile already, ji wook and eun hyuk.
I am so happy ji chang wook decided to do this drama before enlisting. In K2, he was just this fighting superhuman, so it was utterly disappointing. So, I am so glad he got this character where he can show all his little expressions and the heart fluttering glances he sends bong hee's way. I loved the way he hugged her, his cheeks on her hair, his arms around her in this protective way. It was like he was comforting as well as getting comforted himself. I cried for JW when he said to his mom about him still the same as before. Its hard to admit that he hasn't change and that he is still the same coward boy that he was and that look he gave to his mom, he was smiling but tears are threatening to fall. And the next clip was him pulling his ears so that he could stop the tears. Gosh!
But no one can ever be so lonely and pitiful than Eunhyuk. The way he patted himself and greeted himself a 'Happy Birthday' with that eaten cake was so heartbreaking. Its just a bad timing that his co-workers are in a bad mood right on his own birthday day.
...
In this episode you could see almost everyone are hiding their true feelings but its great to know what they really feel thru the 'Truth or Dare' during their drunken scene. First Chief Bang, who by the way my fave right now, said that he loves his job at Noh's firm ( Did they agreed on their firms name yet?) and didn't regret resigning from his previous job, but his statement from the game says otherwise. Then we have Bonghee (oh poor you not until the kiss happened), who says she is currently 98% over her one sided love but during her drunken state spills the truth that she can never ever un-loved him for the rest of her life. Next is Eunhyuk who said to Yoojung face to face that he hates her but the truth is that no matter what he do he just can't hate her.
Then lastly, the biggest liar among them all - Jiwook, who tried to deny his feeling but failing badly. But what made him different from those who played the 'Truth or Dare,' is that he is the only one who told the truth by the end of the day and that is finally admitting he is in love with Bonghee and that soft yet passionate kiss sealed it.

Yes, both the scenes were sad. I think dad's death has to do something with ji wook's insomnia. I think he is afraid people he care about will disappear if he sleeps as his mom kept saying that she is here and won't disappear. That's why I think it makes it easier for him to sleep when bong hee is around because he doesn't have to worry about her disappearing when she is right there?

I think we have a little time jump by the end of this ep. I bet JW and BH only come back home after waiting for Chan ho but we won't pick up his call... Thus, I guess Chan ho will be forcedly taken away by Hyun Soo... or even worst if he becomes the next victim. This writer always has a way to make any suspects have a tangle back story, and sometimes I even feel worried or a bit understand why they go that far into their crimes... Today, Chan ho makes me feel nervous for him, and I hope him safe. Praying!
The kiss scene, I kinda expect it from the storyline. I was more hyped for previous episode, mostly becos of the scene when she removes his tie. The tension is much more than this kiss scene imo... and the fact that he needs her to sleep soundly, and that she stays by his side and fall asleep on his knees... Love that scene.
Actually, I must be too worried for Chan ho's safety... sigh...

Btw, I love the trio Eun Hyuk - Mr. Bang - Chairman and their shares in JW - BH's love progression.
Mr. Chairman, he witnesses all the important scenes of our Otp but it seems he can not connect the dots. Haha. He was there when JW "accepts" to sleep with BH. He clearly saw them hugging but was easily fooled by their denial. Not even EH or Mr. Bang knows their "history".
Mr. Bang is no.1 shipper!!!!! Poor him whenever he replaces JW and gets disappointed/scared by BH's reactions. He's the one who knows JW's attention towards BH is not normal from beginning and clearly shipping them. Someone on Youtube praised him as #1 shipper for JW-BH, I totally agree!!!
EH: ok I need him to make JW becomes even more jealous! He knows his friend well! I like how he roots for BH as he also has an unrequited/hopeless love that he can not get over with. He's the only one who understands her feelings... and how difficult it is... It's very nice to see that he truly cares for her like a close friend, even though he looks cold and jokingly indifferent at first...

Suspicious Partner is smartly-written with witty dialogues which leaves the audience guessing where the plot may go. I am glad that Ji-Wook chides Bong-Hee for going to the park alone to meet Chang-Ho and Bong-Hee explains that she does realize that it is not wise to do so. But why does she leave the cellphone in the car? It frustrates me when little annoying things like this happens in the story but I suppose it is difficult to come up with new plot devices to escalate tension in a scene.

I also thought it was weird that her phone was in the car. I thought the scene had enough tension already without needing to show the shot of her separated from her phone.

She seemed to leave everything in the car - phone, purse! I never saw the keys in her hand... and where was all that stuff when they got back??

It's understand to be absent-minded if I read that she was feeling iffy and scared about the impending meeting. Her mind could have been in a state of blank w.r.t. other things around her.

The third is the body that Chan-ho dropped in the tank, which is what led him to BH's house because he thought she saw him.

First kill- the one that the pervert saw
Second kill - the one where he saw Bonghee and thought she saw him.
Third kill - Chef Yang
Heejon's death might not be part of the count, I guess.

Ah, thanks for this! Looking forward to what SP has in store for us in terms of Chan Ho and Hyun Soo - love a good murder/mystery angle.

Yes! I was wondering about that. The subs told to wait for the epilogue but the video ended abruptly at the credits.

I think... the Epilogue was murdered. The weapon... is a sharp pointy arrow-shaped virtual object.

Dramafever had the epilogue. It showed that it was JW that gave BH the first cup of water the morning of her hangover. He gazed at her longingly and then reluctantly walked out. Maybe that's why he sent Chief Bang in the second time - he just couldn't handle it :)

Does anyone know if all of the even episodes actually have epilogues? I know I've seen some, but I don't think I've seen all...

Thanks LollyPip!
Ooh.... so many suspicious partners. This time, the show's title and it's plot really match up well! We have possibly (or not) Ji Wook and Chan Ho, Chan Ho and Hyun Soo, Ji Wook and Eun Hyuk since they're frenemies, and of course the original partnership of Ji Wook and Bong Hee ... but they are no longer suspicious of each other ?.
This episode had so many lovely scenes where the reactions and interactions were gold:
- All the drunken lies told while the listeners knew the truth.
- Ji Wook wanting to spray Eun Hyuk with water while Chief Bang gave him that "you've got to be kidding me" look.
- CEO Byun not only giving up on bullying the maknae to bring drinks, but ending up washing the mugs was to die for!
- And I loved how Chief Bang and Bong Hee teamed up to talk about Byun in front of his face!
- Or how Eun Hyuk just understands Bong Hee, and got Ji Wook jealous on purpose. Those 2 boys still have lots of growing to do.
And the scene of pathos:
- Eun Hyuk giving himself positive strokes while celebrating a lonely birthday really got me. And it was sad that he rejected Yoo Jung again, out of loyalty to Ji Wook, although he probably would have liked her company that once.
It's so good that despite the hurt and embarrassment, Bong Hee remains so truthful and open with Ji Wook. However I fear that when she finds out why he is suspicious of Hyun Soo, she will also not be able to hide her fear and suspicion, and this will trigger Hyun Soo to finally try to kill her.
I've also been wondering (as others have) where the amnesia comes in. So far we seem to have a killer and his accomplice with perfectly lucid memories, carrying out their evil deeds systematically.
It's going to be a nerve-wracking wait for the next episode!!!

I'm wondering if that scene with Hyun Soo walking in the park and the image of a girl disappearing has something to do with the amnesia part of the plot... Seems to me like that girl was either his sister or girlfriend, and maybe something traumatic (rape/assault/etc...) happened that erased her from his memory? Not sure if this makes any sense LOL

That thought did occur to me too. However I thought that her fading into nothing was to do with the fact that she is a memory and that she died or is out of his life for good. Her "appearing" at all was part of his memory. He seems to remember very well. That's why I cannot see where the amnesia comes in. ?

Episodes of revelations! Simply thee best! Another rollercoaster ride of emotions; filled with giddiness (simple, silly basic interactions between JW & BH), laughter (drunkenness & it's after effects) frustration (you love her, you know it!!), hope (are you going to finally kiss her???), fear (that Dongha is one helluva an actor...on point as a scary, threatening mofo), pride (yeah, defend the woman that you love against evil!) and complete & utter satisfaction with joyous and ecstatic borderline crazy idiotic jumps of joy (hell yeah..psyche us out with what we thought would just be beautiful HUG, only to be followed shortly thereafter with the long, awaited kiss!! no music...more concentration on the magnificence of JW pulling her in, hands on her face and finally, KISSING her!! acccckkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!)
I need a drink.

That kiss made me forget that a two-faced killer is still on the loose, and that poor Chan Ho's life is on the line. But what the heck. I'm going to enjoy the bliss until new ep is on. Life is too short, and that killer scares me.
