Beanie level: Eunuch in drag

I really like the vibe that Temperature of Love is giving off.
I like that Hyun-soo is (currently) an everywoman/girl trying to make it into the world, and I love Jung-sun’s straightforwardness and that small streak of eccentricity he has going on
And wow, the chemistry between Yang Se-jong and Seo Hyun-jin!
—>Let’s hope it’s good and that it stays consistent.

I am looking forward to seeing this drama, but first I am catching up on Save Me.

Once upon a time, I started Age of Youth and never finished it. (It was great, but I wasn’t really in the mood.) NOW, with the hype for season 2, I picked it up again and it cured my 1.5 month FOS-induced drama-slump! I’d forgotten how much I liked the characters! Only 3 ep to S2!

lol this is exactly what I did 1 month ago. Didn’t exactly helped me move on from FOS as it only made me forget FOS for about 2-3 days. After binge-watching this, I was both missing FOS so much and waiting (begging) for AOG2 to come fast haha.

Seeing posts about Forest of Secrets, increasingly makes me think that there should be a FOS Support Group. #StillinWithdrawal

I basically blaim this show for the slump I am currently in now. Everything after just seems to pale in comparison. Hahahaha

Go for the extreme opposite, it kinda works for me (something like crazy OTT live actions or variety shows)

Hi my name is Katrina and I’m here today to admit I’m a FoS addict, its been 30 days since my last fix, and I’m while making a sincere effort to move on, life is still at times bleak and without zest. For all you fellow sufferers – you are not alone, and we’ll get through this together. Fighting!!!

As an update, I’ve been tring to replace Cho seung- woos subtle expressions with Park bo gums chiseled jawline and mega watt smiles. I can attest it does ease the pain somewhat.😁

I took a 3-day trip and it was SO packed that it felt like 3 weeks instead.
Guess now it’s time to see if I’m over that drama-slump

I didn’t think the Forest of Secrets withdrawal would be THIS hard, but it totally left me in such a drama slump.
This feels like a breakup

I agree. Nothing can entice me back, not even Lee JunKi and Lee JingGu. 🙁

I literally went from watching almost everything in the last block to watching nothing in the current block. The slump is real.

That’s my situation as well. I did watch the premiere of Strongest Deliveryman, but idk if I’ll be watching the rest.

Even if something does catch my eyes, I’m pretty sure it won’t be a crime/mystery thriller any time soon.

          0
          1

Then you’re missing out on like 1/3 of all dramas. You got sejeuks, romcoms, and crime/mystery and that covers like 90% of dramas. 😀

Every character in Forest of Secrets deserves a standing ovation, but this is a shout-out to Yoo Jae Myung in particular, for perfectly portraying Lee Chang-jun as a character who was always on the fence, unreadable and unknowable till the end.
I genuinely cried in this scene, despite the vile things LCJ might’ve done. I could feel his shame and pain. This was fantastically filmed and acted, with all those close ups, the sheen of tears in both Shi-mok and Chang-jun’s eyes. I knew what was coming the moment Shi-mok showed up and I was holding my breath the entire time, but I stilled gasped out of shock when it happened.

I already expected what happen next (special thanks to the traumatic Lookout experience), but it was still shocking to see it happened. Now thanks to this, I have 2 traumatic experiences with half-done buildings.

    1
    1

I haven’t watched Lookout, but this is the second time this year that I’ve watched someone jump to their death on a construction site, the other one was in Tomorrow With You but the character was pushed.
I guess construction sites in dramas are now on my blacklist too

      0
      1

Yeah, I wonder if “death by jumping from construction sites” will eventually become the new truck-of-doom. *shiver*

    That sunbae moment. It hurts.

    2
    1

That broke my heart. For both LCJ and HSM, but especially Shi-mok.
Even though he later on called LCJ a monster, he was still his role model and the one person that inspired him to be a good prosecutor. I truly felt sad for SM, bc everyone just keeps dying around him and being the person that he is, I’m sure he must’ve seen LCJ as yet another death he couldn’t prevent.

Exactly! Nodding at every word. Honestly I’m at a loss of words here because there’s just too many things to say about this Show and thinking about it makes me teary-eyed so yea. 😆

      Me neither!
I will miss it so much. I guess I’ll feed off of the BTS
Their deserve all the awards for the hard work. Best Actors, Best Diretor, Best Screenwriter, Best cinematography. Everything

I probably won’t be able to pick up a crime/mystery thriller so soon.

TOTALLY agree. I wanted to start Falsify (mostly because the journalism angle is an interesting one to take), but I just know I’m going to be making constant comparisons lol. There’s no one I don’t like in the drama though, so I’ll probably pick it up eventually.

Yes, the show reintroduced me to a few good actors I used to watch in the past, CSW, BDN… I love this cast so much, especially their BTS. OMG! Who knew they can be so goofy behind the scenes?

    1

This show made me love BDN even more and introduced me to JSW’s acting, since I’d never seen him in anything.

Gosh, even in its penultimate episode FOS still manages to pull the rug from under me.
My mind is @!&%?ASDJKF!
I’m already contemplating what to do with the rest of my life after this.

Me too. I cannot wait for the big reveal, and how LCJ ties in with all of this.

    1
    0

I’ve been getting the feeling for a long time that LCJ feels trapped by his horrible in laws and he’s been slowly falling on his sword to drag them all down. Also, that EunSoo’s murder was a copycat. I knew that was coming.

    1
    1

Yeah, I also suspected both those things. But I didn’t expect LCJ to be so deeply involved. I wonder when he started his plan.
And I also wasn’t expecting Yoon to be in cahoots with Secretary Yoon

Quick question: can a doctor reveal the medical history of a patient so easily to just anyone?
That doctor in FOS had no qualms about informing YJ of SM\’s condition. Or was she acting as his guardian?

2
3

The same thought crossed my mind..! I also felt that the doctor’s acting was a tad awkward, so I kinda wondered if it was there just to have Yeo-jin learn of Shi-mok’s condition, to further cement how their relationship is one of trust and deep understanding of each other, or something like that. Like, even if it was okay to reveal the medical history of a patient in times like this i.e. sort of like an emergency, I wondered if there was a need to go to the extent of showing her the brain scans… 😅

Perhaps Yeo-jin asked though, about the reason for his fainting. Supposing that doctors would have their patients’ well-being in mind, and when you have a relatively unknown patient there being treated in the emergency section, with only one person who shows up as the point of contact… maybe the doctor felt that it was better to have someone know of his condition given that he had had serious surgery before. Though really, they should have called his parents first or something.

I’d say the scene is largely being used as a plot device 😑 And maybe as a wish fulfillment to the audience since everyone wants Shi-mok to have true friends who’d know him and care for him. 😐

    1
    1

I was glad that YJ found out about him…. but you’re probably right in saying that it was largely just a plot device. Fortunately, this show is damn near perfection, so I find I can forgive such minor missteps.

And I really do want Shi-mok to have someone who truly knows him. In this episode, I really just wanted someone to give him a hug and tell him that what happened wasn’t his fault, bc I think he was sort of blaming himself. >.<

      1
      1

I agree with you.. >.< I feel like his gruffness with Eun-soo had partly been because he wanted to shield her from the investigation, because she does sometimes investigate too openly and aggressively in a way which endangers herself. And having this happen to her before he could clear matters up, possibly as a threat to him since he'd ignored the first warning (though of course we later find out the real reason), must have been such a terrible shock…

Likewise, I'd secretly wished Yeo-jin could have stayed longer by his side at the hospital, and held his hand or something just to reassure him.

We all need a Yeo-jin in our lives. Someone who truly knows us, accepts us, gently nudges us when we're over certain lines of human decency, but stays by our side to the end.

Awww, that’s really sad to hear.
I love this so much, I feel like everyone in the world should watch it. But it’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea.
I LOVE mystery-thrillers, and as far as they go, this is pretty solid in every aspect. So, I devour every episode like there’s no tomorrow.
(sorry, I ended up rambling. hahaha)

This show is on my top atm but I also understand if some ppl can’t get into it. It’s a complicated drama when you have to focus on each lines and expressions to understand what is happening. This is not a drama when you can see the prosecutors & cops are ‘actively’ solving the cases with some action scenes. This drama focus a lot more on gray & dark area in the prosecution and police institution and how these two linked with each other, unlike with some other procedural or legal drama which the plot is quite straighforward and easier to understand.

I view this drama as an upgrade version of other kdrama that I like – Pride & Prejudice, & Whisper.

      I didn’t watch Best Love…
But my issue with such endings is that it feels too much like the happy ending is forced, and all endings become predictable.

True. I’m a sticker for it but it doesn’t always make sense.
It felt right in Fight My Way (they’d been teasing with it since that bus scene), even if the pacing was fast.
In Suspicious Partners it was jarring. They went from fighting over everything to a ring. It didn’t feel quite right.

Despite all the eye-rolling and pain that SUSPICIOUS PARTNER caused me in its last few weeks…. this was a really good final episode.
I’ll miss the funny office politics and ofc Ji Chang Wook❤️
