The Best Hit: Episodes 11-12

As much as I enjoy watching Hyun-jae and his obsessive relationship with his smartphone, I have a greater appreciation for all the human relationships he’s either building or working hard to repair. Kwang-jae shines as the man of the hour acting as the best dad he can be, and though it may seem like Hyun-jae is the only one interested in learning about the past, the consequences of his mysterious disappearance are about to become everyone’s problem.

EPISODE 11 RECAP

Kwang-jae books his idol girl group for a bi-weekly gig at the shopping center stage and sees Ji-hoon dancing on that same stage and Hyun-jae waiting offstage for his turn. He heads downstairs to face them after the singing competition is over, and instead of lecturing Ji-hoon, he pulls Hyun-jae away to talk in private.

He tries to look composed while reprimanding Hyun-jae, knowing that the kids are watching them through the cafe window. But Hyun-jae thinks it’s odd that Ji-hoon would insist that his one and only engraved watch belonged to Ji-hoon’s “late father” when Kwang-jae is supposed to be Ji-hoon’s father. “Isn’t Ji-hoon your son?” he asks.

“Ji-hoon isn’t my son,” Kwang-jae confesses. He hesitates, but then finally adds, “Ji-hoon… is your son.” It takes a few seconds for Hyun-jae to catch on, and then he looks at Ji-hoon incredulously through the cafe window, saying, “He’s my what?!”

Hyun-jae keeps sending awkward glances at Ji-hoon in the minivan while Kwang-jae swears that he’s never met “this kid” Hyun-jae before. Hyun-jae uses that same informal speech to say that he’s never met “this kid” Kwang-jae either, and that disrespectful tone earns him a smack upside the head, so Hyun-jae begrudgingly issues a respectful apology.

When Woo-seung asks what they were talking about earlier, Kwang-jae says he thought about signing Hyun-jae to World Agency after seeing his performance earlier. But he found out that Hyun-jae was too rude and stresses the idea that he values a person’s character over talent.

Having seen Ji-hoon perform on stage too, Kwang-jae warns that he’d better not find out that Ji-hoon is secretly trying to break into the music industry. He accepts Woo-seung’s reasoning that Ji-hoon only entered the contest on her insistence to win the first place prize, and Ji-hoon asks Dad to drop them off so they can take the subway.

Later that night, Kwang-jae looks at his own fancy watch, which was given to him by Hyun-jae on the same day he received his engraved watch. He sighs thinking of how Hyun-jae had asked him to trust and follow him.

He’s drinking soju alone in the dark when Bo-hee emerges from her bedroom. Noticing his crestfallen expression, she offers to whip him up a snack, and as she rummages through the fridge, Hyun-jae pops his head into the house and quietly calls Kwang-jae outside.

Kwang-jae is gone by the time Bo-hee turns around, but now Grandpa is up too, and he scolds Bo-hee for indulging in a late-night snack. And then Mal-sook’s voice rings out asking if Grandpa is eating something.

Kwang-jae leads Hyun-jae out into the street, but the idea of being seen by anyone is the least of Hyun-jae’s worries. Hyun-jae leads him away, but then the dads double back and crouch behind the car upon seeing Woo-seung and Ji-hoon approach the building.

Woo-seung is still looking for a stable part-time job, ideally one with high pay and little work. She doesn’t want to get caught heading up to the rooftop with Ji-hoon when she’s supposed to be a secret roommate, but he pulls her back and places an arm around her and they head in together.

Once the coast is clear, the two dads crawl out of their hiding place. Kwang-jae notes how those two are spending a lot of time together, but Hyun-jae has more important things on his mind—namely how he has a grown son.

He asks who Ji-hoon’s mother is because he genuinely doesn’t know, then he remembers Bo-hee’s handwritten message behind the picture frame and makes the connection. The last thing he remembers is his announcement that he was moving agencies, so he has a hard time believing the story that he secretly dated Bo-hee for a year and disappeared without a trace while she was pregnant with Ji-hoon.

Kwang-jae says he searched the entire country looking for Hyun-jae, but none of that matters now. He says that Hyun-jae has no business caring about either Bo-hee or Ji-hoon, so the best thing he can do now is to do nothing and disappear quietly.

Hyun-jae tries to protest, but Kwang-jae won’t hear of it, citing that Hyun-jae has always lived for himself. “Just this once, for all of our sakes, please don’t do anything, keep quiet, and leave us,” Kwang-jae pleads.

Hyun-jae returns to the rooftop apartment to find his male roommates scrubbing the bathroom floor with toothbrushes. Woo-seung orders the boys to get rid of every speck of mold, and seeing Ji-hoon obey her commands makes Hyun-jae wonder how Ji-hoon could ever be his son.

It keeps him up all night, and he’s still convinced that Ji-hoon isn’t his son when he runs into him exiting the bathroom the following morning. Unable to move forward one step because they keep sidestepping in the same direction, Ji-hoon tells him to pick a side. Hyun-jae suddenly takes issue with his disrespectful tone, but Ji-hoon doesn’t know what he’s talking about and pushes him aside.

Little Mal-sook enlists Grandpa to help with her spelling homework, but just as he’d about to read the list aloud, he answers a phone call, and Mal-sook writes down every angry word he spouts.

Grandpa finishes the call outside, where Young-jae’s rich wife Cathy greets him as “oppa.” She can’t talk long because Young-jae is here to pick her up, and once they’re gone Grandpa tells Kwang-jae that he pities Young-jae because his wife is so afraid that he’ll run away with her money that she won’t get their marriage legalized.

In his office, Young-jae complains about Cathy talking to CEO Lee and Kwang-jae, but she doesn’t see anything wrong with it since they’ve known each other for years. She doesn’t think her husband will get CEO Lee to sell him that building so that he can set up a new training facility in its place, and promises to find him someplace better.

She tries to feed him some food, but Young-jae refuses like a petulant child, complaining about her always treating him like a kid. He’s surprised when she agrees not to get involved with the building then, and he obediently eats the sushi she guides into his mouth.

Cathy pushes him aside and opens his safe to grab the seal inside, and Young-jae is shocked to learn that she knows the combination. She shifts uncomfortably when she’s accused of doodling in Hyun-jae’s music notebook, but she replies that her scribbles were just a joke.

Knowing that Young-jae needs his seal for his business deals, she teases that he can have it back if he catches her. While he’s busy chasing her around the office, the camera zooms in on the notebook. Under Cathy’s message on the back cover, a new inscription from Hyun-jae magically appears: “Son???”

At the same time, Hyun-jae sprawls out on the floor after having written that note, wondering what horrible thing he could’ve done that led him to be sent to the future where he has a grown son.

Speaking of whom, Ji-hoon practices alone and gets frustrated when he slips on his own sweat. MC Drill finds his buddy looking discouraged and proposes they go shopping to blow off some steam.

They’re both taken aback when Hye-ri pops out of seemingly nowhere. She asks to borrow Ji-hoon and distracts MC Drill with an online shopping mall. They head to the roof, where Hye-ri passes Ji-hoon a box of pastries she claims she received from her fans. She can’t eat any because she’s on a pre-debut diet, so she asks Ji-hoon to tell her how they taste.

She disagrees with Ji-hoon’s assessment of her always appearing confident and superbly talented, bringing up how she always sympathized with the evil queen in Snow White because she was always anxiously asking for reassurance to the magic mirror.

She figured that that was how everyone kept their anxieties hidden from the world, an idea she found comforting. Ji-hoon nods along, and when she asks if that makes her sound crazy, he jokes that it does. She then pesters him to describe the pastries in great detail, only to say that she’ll tell her fans that they were “good.”

Bo-hee notices Kwang-jae acting strangely in the bakery as if he has something to tell her. Kwang-jae insists that it’s nothing and promises to ensure that her belching parade during her filming of Challenge! Go Star gets edited out.

She doesn’t think it’s a big deal, unaware that Hyun-jae appears in the window behind her and mouths to Kwang-jae to meet him outside. By the time she pops her head back up, Kwang-jae is gone again.

Kwang-jae pulls Hyun-jae to an alley and berates him for not doing as he’s told. But Hyun-jae pouts because he has no way of contacting Kwang-jae otherwise, so Kwang-jae gets the new phone Hyun-jae won at the singing contest activated.

He also enables the GPS tracker so that he can always keep an eye on where Hyun-jae goes, and while Hyun-jae excitedly giggles over having mobile data, Kwang-jae quietly explains to the sales rep that his younger brother is unwell.

He has Hyun-jae promise to keep this activated phone a secret from the kids and to only call him for emergencies. He wonders what was so urgent that Hyun-jae wanted to talk to him, and when Hyun-jae says he wants to meet Bo-hee, Kwang-jae grabs him by the collar.

Kwang-jae reiterates that the best thing Hyun-jae can do for her is to stay out of her life because whether or not Hyun-jae can remember, Bo-hee was the one who suffered most following his disappearance. Hyun-jae concedes.

Elsewhere, Woo-seung gears up for one of her odd-end part-time jobs of distributing flyers in the sweltering heat wearing a full-body animal costume. While she tries to stay focused as the temperature rises, Grandpa sits Kwang-jae down to confront him about his longtime crush on Bo-hee.

He thinks Kwang-jae has waited long enough and urges Kwang-jae to “confess” anything he’s still got on his chest because life is short. He doesn’t know that Kwang-jae has more than his own feelings to relay to Bo-hee, like how Hyun-jae is very much alive and in their midst.

Meanwhile, Hyun-jae goes to his own online fan cafe and types in “peanut butter,” hoping that will give him access. But then another window pops up prompting him to wait for an email invitation to be a member, which leaves Hyun-jae frustrated.

He peruses the study guides on Ji-hoon’s bookshelf and flips open a spiral notebook which depicts dance choreography diagrams. But his curiosity is piqued when he starts to read the rap lyrics written inside.

Woo-seung receives an alert that one of her academy lectures has been moved up, then answers a call from Hyun-jae. Realizing that she isn’t supposed to know about his new number, Hyun-jae lies that he borrowed someone else’s phone.

She snaps at him when he asks to hang out because he’s bored, but before she hangs up, she gets an idea. She offers to cut his debt to her in half if he helps her out.

Grandpa dresses up to attend another manager meeting and reminds Bo-hee that tomorrow is Kwang-jae’s birthday. He makes her feel guilty for forgetting every year, instead remembering it as the day Hyun-jae went missing, but he hopes that Bo-hee will prepare a birthday meal for Kwang-jae this year.

Bo-hee says nothing at first, then breezily says she’ll take care of it. Grandpa asks if she doesn’t ever feel bad that Kwang-jae works so hard, and adds that if he were in her shoes, he would’ve already gotten together with Kwang-jae, before dropping the subject mid-sentence.

Hyun-jae shows up where Woo-seung is working and reels in disgust when the life-size raccoon removes one of her eyes to drink some water through the eye hole. He makes his presence known and expresses that he really doesn’t want to do this, but Woo-seung looks up at him and reminds him of the debt he owes her.

Woo-seung changes into her normal clothes and gets a call from her mom asking if she can borrow her daughter’s savings to avoid going to jail. Mom promises to pay her back with interest as soon as things look up again, but Woo-seung has had enough of Mom trying to mooch off of her and bitterly levels at her, “If it looks like you’re about to go to jail, you should just go.”

Tears welling up in her eyes, Woo-seung asks how Mom’s initial questions aren’t to check how her daughter is doing, to ask if she’s been eating properly, or to ask how her exam went.

She hangs up and swallows her oncoming sobs. Hyun-jae, who has since returned wearing the raccoon outfit and overheard the entire conversation, places the raccoon head over Woo-seung’s head, parks a seat next to her, and matter-of-factly explains, “I thought you might need that.” Aw.

EPISODE 12 RECAP

After Kwang-jae returns some sponsored jewelry to the jeweler, he asks to see their ring collection. Later that night, Woo-seung walks home with Hyun-jae and remarks that his hard work today earned her a bonus. Hyun-jae scoffs that he’s good at anything he puts his mind to.

Hyun-jae asks if Ji-hoon is studying for the civil service exam and learns that Ji-hoon is actually aspiring to break into the music industry. The words “idol” and “trainee” sound foreign to his ears, along with the idea that anyone would train for years to become a singer.

He’s told that Kwang-jae has always been staunchly against the idea, which is why Ji-hoon has kept his dreams a secret from his family. She bops Hyun-jae on the head when he refers to Kwang-jae by name, then shares how Kwang-jae caused a scene at every one of Ji-hoon’s auditions when he was in high school.

Woo-seung wonders why Hyun-jae has taken a sudden interest in Ji-hoon, to which Hyun-jae blusters that he isn’t at all interested. Then she tells him that she bought him something “brand new” that he’ll like as a bonus for working so hard today.

He runs home and sees a shopping bag by the bed, and thinking that this must be what Woo-seung was talking about, he opens the box to find a pair of sneakers. Hey, those are for Kwang-jae!

He tries them on and notes how she correctly guessed his shoe size. Ji-hoon returns and sees the sneakers meant for Dad and yanks them off of Hyun-jae’s feet, saying that they can’t continue being roommates if Hyun-jae keeps overstepping his bounds.

Woo-seung arrives home just as Ji-hoon storms out, and explains to Hyun-jae that the new sneakers are Dad Kwang-jae’s birthday gift. She points to the “brand new” gift she left him on the desk: a melon and spicy beef triangle kimbap. Yay…?

She then joins Ji-hoon outside, and he stiffens when she places her head in his lap. She tells him not to dwell on Hyun-jae’s misunderstanding about the sneakers and says she’s still doing odd-end jobs. If she could, she’d travel to an island and sleep for four days straight.

“Lee Ji-hoon, are you happy right now?” Woo-seung asks. He thinks there isn’t much when it comes to happiness, and she agrees, “I’ve learned that in life, happiness isn’t something that’s far away. Happiness is neither around us nor is it far away. It just doesn’t exist.”

He admits it hurts him to hear her say that, since she should at least think it’s nice to have a friend to lean on at times like this. But he looks down to see Woo-seung fast asleep.

MC Drill entrusts Hyun-jae to pass along Ji-hoon’s belongings that he left behind in the Star Punch locker room. Problem is, the black bag and white shoebox containing Ji-hoon’s ID card and training schedule look identical to the shopping bag with Kwang-jae’s birthday gift, and Hyun-jae tosses that bag next to Ji-hoon’s backpack before checking to see if he’s been granted access into the online fan cafe.

Naturally, Ji-hoon takes the bag next to his backpack and presents it to Kwang-jae for his birthday, who’s moved by the thoughtful gesture. But Kwang-jae doesn’t get to check what’s inside because he’s called downstairs by his idol girl group. Grandpa tells him to come home early so they can enjoy a family dinner.

Woo-seung comes across an online posting for an intern at Star Punch Entertainment while Hyun-jae sits at home and realizes that Ji-hoon took the wrong black bag to Kwang-jae. He puts it aside, deciding not to worry about it, but the idea of Kwang-jae flipping his lid to find out that Ji-hoon is an idol trainee nags at him, so he tiptoes downstairs with the right bag.

He sneaks into Kwang-jae’s bedroom and carefully switches out the bags before slipping out into the hall. But when he hears footsteps approach, he panics and hides in the bathroom. It’s Bo-hee, who unloads her heavy bags of groceries before answering a call from Kwang-jae.

Kwang-jae is hoping to surprise Ji-hoon at the academy with lunch. Ji-hoon freaks out when he gets a text from Dad saying that he’s downstairs in the lobby. He calls Dad back to lie that class is still in session, hoping that will buy him some time while he runs over from the Star Punch building.

But as luck would have it, the dismissal bell rings seconds later, and Ji-hoon hollers at Dad to wait in the lobby. Dad is already on his way to Ji-hoon’s classroom by the time Ji-hoon arrives at the academy, out of breath and ragged.

Lying that he’s on a different floor, Ji-hoon tells Dad that he’ll meet him on the same floor and arrives dripping in sweat and gasping for air. He attributes his flustered appearance to bowel movements, then takes the lunch Dad bought him.

Dad is pleasantly surprised when Woo-seung runs into them and he learns that she also attends this academy. Then to make matters worse, a lecturer approaches Woo-seung and asks if “Ji-hoon” has completed the printout.

To avoid outing Woo-seung as the Fake Ji-hoon, Ji-hoon answers by speaking in the third person: “Ji-hoon hasn’t had a chance to solve those problems, but Ji-hoon will finish them today.” When asked who he is, Ji-hoon carefully explains, “Ji-hoon’s friend… Woo-seung.” It’s definitely odd, but it works and they manage to get through the encounter.

Trapped inside the bathroom for hours now, Hyun-jae carefully turns on the faucet to drink some water from the sink, and when he neither hears nor sees anyone in the house, he figures it’s safe to venture outside.

He hops toward the front door, only to retreat into the living room when Grandpa enters. He hides behind the couch and waits until Grandpa is gone before attempting another escape. But then he hears Mal-sook’s voice calling out to Grandpa, and Hyun-jae hides underneath the dining room table.

Hyun-jae crawls out from underneath the table while their backs are turned, but he’s unable to escape because Bo-hee arrives, forcing him to retreat back to the bathroom. Back in the living room, Grandpa keeps a sharp eye out, assessing if each ingredient Bo-hee is cooking with is meant for a birthday meal or a memorial service.

Upon learning that Young-jae plans on tearing down the World Agency building to construct a new training facility, Kwang-jae beelines for the Star Punch building. Ji-hoon has to think fast when sees Dad coming up in the elevator, so he runs in front of the pre-debut group standing nearby, pulls his shirt over his head, and asks them for an autograph. With a permanent marker.

Kwang-jae witnesses the strange sight of the boys signing a faceless boy’s bare stomach and joins the other trainees in the elevator. Ji-hoon barely escapes another run-in with Dad, but he cringes in embarrassment over what he had to do.

Young-jae is in a meeting with MJ when Kwang-jae barges in, which MJ takes as his cue to leave. Kwang-jae gets right to the point, asking how Young-jae could go behind their backs and plan on constructing a new building where World Agency stands now. Young-jae fires back that Kwang-jae should be arguing with the bank about this matter, and has his secretary drag Kwang-jae away.

Back at home, Bo-hee struggles with the locked bathroom door. On the other side, Hyun-jae looks around anxiously for an escape route and spots the vent above him. So he’s gone when Bo-hee successfully gains entry, and Grandpa is so relieved… that he relieves himself then and there.

Kwang-jae returns that night and places the ring he bought for Bo-hee in the glove compartment of his van. In Bo-hee’s bedroom, we see a date circled on her calendar: June 17th. Is that for the day Hyun-jae disappeared?

Grandpa is disappointed when he finds out that Bo-hee has spent all day cooking to prepare a memorial table for Hyun-jae instead of Kwang-jae’s birthday feast.

She replies that Hyun-jae didn’t have any family and she never once set up a memorial table for him because she held onto the belief that he was still alive somewhere. She calls this her way of accepting that Hyun-jae is dead, so that she can move on.

Despite getting an alert from the bank that their building will be repossessed, Kwang-jae slaps on a smile for the family. He’s told that they’ll be having a memorial service for Hyun-jae before they celebrate his birthday.

No one knows that Hyun-jae is trying to navigate the narrow vents above them while Ji-hoon is instructed to help pour the liquor, and everyone bows in respect. Hyun-jae happens to see his own memorial service taking place through the vent above the living room and tries to cross above them in silence…

…But then there’s a loud crack and Hyun-jae falls through the ceiling and lands right on top of his own memorial table, to everyone’s shock.

Epilogue

Hyun-jae sits in front of the laptop and looks up how to create an email account. We also see Hyun-jae look up birthday present ideas for Dad and ways to win a female friend’s heart. Later, MC Drill inputs his name into the search bar, but there are no results other than for the word “drill.” Aw.

MC Drill quickly shuts the laptop when Woo-seung emerges from her room. He vehemently denies that he was looking at porn and opens the laptop again to show her the truth. And in the corner of the screen, an email notification pops up for Hyun-jae—it’s a welcome email for Hyun-jae’s online fan cafe.

COMMENTS

Well, that’s one way to drop in. I honestly find this scenario of Hyun-jae accidentally crashing his own memorial service rather hilarious since I was worried that he might have to spend more time sneaking around the house and end up revealing himself to Bo-hee in a more dramatic moment. Now is he going to tell the family the same honest tale he told Kwang-jae?

I must say I really appreciate how The Best Hit has hit many a possible burning question head-on. Even in this hour, Kwang-jae leveled with Hyun-jae and named him as Ji-hoon’s biological father right away. Hearing that actually makes me admire Kwang-jae even more because he’s dedicated his life to raise the son of the woman he loves. A part of me can’t help but wonder if there’s a twist regarding Ji-hoon’s parentage on the horizon, not because I don’t trust Bo-hee’s claims, but because I’ve been trained as a viewer to be suspicious whenever a story keeps driving a point home, like Hyun-jae being told that he is Ji-hoon’s father. His response is understandable since he had no idea that he was involved in any kind of romance with Bo-hee, but now I question if what I’m being told isn’t actually what’s true.

Of course, it’d be simpler if Hyun-jae remains as Ji-hoon’s father because I think they do have a lot to learn from one another. Even though Hyun-jae may doubt that Ji-hoon resembles him that much, he doesn’t take into account that Ji-hoon grew up in a different family environment and that some quirks (like their unique sleeping positions) have been passed on without him knowing. And it looks like the songwriting gene may have been passed down as well, which is hopefully something that Hyun-jae will foster in Ji-hoon.

As Hyun-jae spends more time in the present, I do have to wonder how the passage of time works in this dramaverse. If Ji-hoon is Bo-hee and Hyun-jae’s son, it would mean that Hyun-jae would either still need to be alive in 1993 or that Hyun-jae somehow returns to the past to conceive Ji-hoon. It occurs to me that Ji-hoon’s entire existence is dependent on Hyun-jae returning if he had no idea that he fathered a child, unless time has stopped altogether until Hyun-jae’s return.

That’s the tricky thing with time travel stories, because it seems like life went on for Hyun-jae up until 1994, and he didn’t even know it. I’m hoping his fan cafe will be able to give him some clues because I don’t feel enough of an urgency in figuring out why Hyun-jae was sent to the 21st century. Solving that mystery and searching the web seems to take up most of Hyun-jae’s time here (and seriously, what happened to that other broken watch?), but I love that he’s doing it all while rocking those classic ’90s bangs.

Everything leading up to the ending was very predictable and the spontaneous humour was lost with this episode.

You're right that the ending was very predictable. I saw it coming a mile away. It still cracked me up so hard I had to pause so as not to miss the epilogue due to excessive laughter. I'm sorry it didn't work as well for you.

I knew the last moment of the episode was coming ever since Hyun Jae looked at the vent, but I still laughed so hard when he feel down from the ceiling.

So, the question is, does Ji Hoon know that his dad is the famous Yoon Hyun Jae? Even if he knew or not beforehand, doesn't he see the resemblance now that he has lived with HJ when he sees the photo on the memorial table?

This drama gives me Reply feels and I feel like whatever they throw at us at this point (e.g. father and son similar sleeping style) may be red herring. And the way they go back and forth for the loveline with Woo Seung - last episode it was Ji Hoon's moment, this episode it's Hyun Jae's.

That epilogue - I feel a bit sad for MC Drill, I hope he gets his success soon.

I've been wondering about the same thing. At first I though Ji Hoon didn't know that Hyun Jae was his dad but that's clearly not the case. How could he not even think twice about this guy who looks exactly like his dad? Even if it's because Hyun Jae hasn't aged a day, it's weird that it hasn't even made Ji Hoon pause once.
As for the back and forth with Woo Seung and the two guys, I'm still sure her and Ji Hoon are the OTP, her moment with Hyun Jae was more of a friendship moment rather than a romantic one.
P.S. if this show ends without MC Drill becoming ridiculously famous and millions of people watching his ridiculous self-vidoes, I'll be thoroughly disappointed.

My thoughts exactly. I've been wondering when the show is going to give these guys a good break. So far, all they've been experiencing are misfortunes and i feel so bad for them. How many episodes has it been already and still no improvement on the quality of life our main cast are living?

They mention in the episode that Hyun-jae came from 1993, but his relationship with Bo-hee didn't start until 1994. So it hasn't happened yet as far as HJ knows.

If HJ is indeed JH's father, something should had happened (dating, scandal or whatever) between HJ and Bo-hee in '93 because JH is born in '94. I mean did the "escape from the goons" scene happened in 93?

No I think he's conceived in '94 born in '95. Bo-hee is not visibly pregnant in the scene where GJ offered to raise the child with her last episode, and that was presumably pretty soon after HJ's disappearance, so he was conceived right before HJ disappeared in '94. The escape the goons was definitely in 93 because HJ remembers it.

Jihoon is now 23, right? So he's 1994. :/

No peichis right jihoon is born in 95, it's confusing because they're referring to jihoon as being 23 in Korean age,, he'd be 22 international age

1

@sojusommelier - Korean age my friend, so subtract a year. He's a '95er

2

Lol of course I didn't thought of Korean age ahaha

0

I'm thinking their "relationship" didn't start until after the escape and if this scene did happen in 93, JH wouldn't remember them dating.

If Ji-hoon's real Dad is Park Young-jae... Then, he probably save the nation in his previous life lol.

It'll be pretty impossible for Kwang Jae to be JH's real dad, but Hyun Jae may not be the father.

Now that the show made us ship KJ with BH - when Hyun Jae gets back in time, they cannot have him hooked up with Bo Hee right?

KJ has to get the girl at the end, I mean that guy waited for 20 years! Bo Hee has to conceive at one point so Ji Hoon would be born, so my bet would now be the other J2 guy (CEO).

I ship Hyun Jae with Woo Seung because Yoon Shi Young shares a good chemistry with the actress but from the drunken scene, it feels like he's not interested in the least. Ji Hoon is also an adorable puppy when he looks at Woo Seung and I hope at one point he gets the girl, instead of waiting for 20 years like Kwang Jae.

Hyun Jae's true love is his cellphone.

If I'm the writer then I'll make it possible... Probably one night both are drunk, Hong Bong-hee mistakenly hit Lee Gwang-jae as Yoo Hyun-jae and our noble idiot ahjussi as the collateral damage of her blinded love.

1

Totally agree with you, HJ going back to the past and having an affair with BH just doesn't sit well. And I bet at some point he will learn about the love that KJ has for BH, that would make it even more difficult for HJ to go after her...my guess is that HJ is not Ji Hoon's father, and if anything, he will try to set her up with KJ.
And regarding WS, as much as I like them together, I don't think WS and HJ are destined lovers here...what would happen with the time travel issue? Although, if I think about it...could it be that when HJ disappears in 1994 is because he is going back to the future to stay? Ahhh, so many possibilities!! ?

2

Curious if he is indeed his son will do a type a la "Will You Be There",only he does return to his timeline and knowing so he goes into a relationship with Bo hee conciving Ji Hoon on porpose because if he goes back and never has anything with her he won't ever exist...

I personally think the only way this story works (and any potential love triangle with Woo-seung doesn't get REALLY icky) is if Hyun-jae isn't actually Ji-hoon's father. If Hyun-jae hasn't slept with Bo-hee yet back in 1993, for Ji-hoon to exist, (despite him not seeming that interested) Hyun-jae would have to go back in time and sleep with her now. That's just... ew. It only makes sense if Ji-hoon is actually someone else's.

And does anyone else feel like they're teasing us with a Hyun-jae/Woo-seung pairing but all the while actually intending to pair her with Ji-hoon? I have the distinct impression that my chain is being yanked. Which got me thinking... I'm really confused by the writing of this show. Because another reason that I don't think Ji-hoon is Hyun-jae's son is that the show hasn't been pushing them together at all. You would think, narratively speaking, if they really were related, they would be pushing Hyun-jae and Ji-hoon together in the same way they've been doing with him and Woo-seung. They would be giving Ji-hoon the chance to get to know his dad, and Hyun-jae his son. But even now, they've spent almost no one-on-one time together. Hyun-jae still spends the vast majority of his time with Woo-seung. But that doesn't make narrative sense either because (even this far into the story) there appears to be no romantic inclination on either of their parts. So he's not getting to know Ji-hoon. He's not developing feelings for Woo-seung. He doesn't seem to want to see Bo-hee for any other reason than to get answers. His stolen song only occasionally seems to concern him. So, what IS he doing here? Where are the writers going with this? Don't get me wrong, this is my favorite of the currently airing shows, but I'm beginning to get a bit apprehensive about its trajectory...

I am really questioning Hyun-jae as the father of Ji-hoon as well and the problem if he is with him returning to the past and having a relationship with past Bo-hee with the knowledge he will disappear. I mean, if this is what happened and he doesn't then Ji-hoon wouldn't exists. But with the knowledge of the future wouldn't getting in a relationship with Bo-hee feel more like a chore than a real relationship? Does my question make sense?

I don't think there's chance of that happening. HJ hardly even registers her existence in 2017, and as everyone noted above, it would be all kinds of ew if he goes back and dates her just to produce Ji Hoon.

Y'know, all of this would be solved if JH was 100% an adopted kid, though I don't know why Bo Hee would go through makjang levels of deceit to pretend he's her son. Maybe the drama is poking fun at birth secrets?

And I love how Hyun-jae is a total softie. Whether to Woo-seung who just had another painful conversation with her mom, or to help Ji-hoon hide his trainee status from Kwang-jae. He might acted indifferent, but he just itched to care about them. He would be such a great mentor and best friend for all those lost kids who tried to pursue their dreams when he allow himself to be one.

In other sites, many are wondering why Ji-hoon couldn’t recognize that his late father and Hyun-jae looked alike. Here are my theories:

--Until last episode, I thought Jihoon was raised to believe that Gwang-jae is his father. But with that watch scene ep 10, I think he knew who his real father and what he looked like.

--Remember the time when he and the rooftop gang sent HJ to the hospital? Before leaving, JH actually looked back at HJ, who was still unconscious in bed. Also, remember when he Youtube-d how to become an idol and saw an old video of HJ? I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he saw that. I think he already knew what his father looked like and who he is in the past. Upon meeting HJ, I think he has been contemplating on why this guy looked like his father. When Woo-seung mentioned that Ddabong looked like HJ, he just looked straight at Ddabong. I’m just basing my theory on Kim Min-jae’s acting. I felt like, script-wise, he just didn’t involve anyone (including the audience) in his reflection. So, I wouldn’t be surprise if later on we will have an episode showing JH’s perspective on things from the time he saw HJ.

--During the first episode, when JH said that that’s how he met his father, I felt like he somehow had an impression that this guy looked like his father or he could possibly be his real father. Maybe he was just more introspective about it because, you know, who would believe that someone just time-travelled or perhaps rose from the grave?

--Speaking from the production’s perspective, I would like to think that the crew wouldn’t think of putting the photo of HJ during the memorial service, and not expect people to question JH’s stupidity to not recognize the glaring similarity between his late father and HJ.

--Ergo, I don't believe in some theories that there were no photos of HJ around the house for JH to not recognize his father's face.

TBH, didn't expect I'll be overanalyzing this drama LOL. Anyway, I’m enjoying my overanalyzing-but-whatever phase in my KDrama viewing. Since this is a light-hearted comedy drama, I’m okay with anything actually. Just give Gwang-jae a good ending LOL.

Other points:
-I think the pager number is the code for that vault.
-CEO's wife is shady
-I enjoyed the side-by-side hide-and-seek of Hyun-jae and Ji-hoo, who were both hiding their respective secrets.
-Of course, Hyun-jae’s “descend from the heaven” LOL

its not that JH doesn't recognie or relate HJ with dabong.. but that he has outrightly rejected that idea in the firs tplace..

he was the first one to notice similarities in ep 1/2.. then when WS mentioned it .. he again rejected it.. so that's that

However, should they not be questioning why there is a 20 yr old looking just like HJ.. genetics is real.. in the leas they should think of HJ having an illegitmate son..

I'm surprised that JH's parentage isn't some sort of secret and JH knows he's not KJ's biological son. I wonder if he knows thathis biological dad is the singer, Yoo Hyun Jae or if he's just been told it was some non-celeb guy who died too soon.

As someone who has only known KJ as his dad, it's not surprising that he doesn't feel any sort of emotion towards his biological father. I'm guessing that HJ doesn't get mentioned in that house at all. This is the first time they've even held a memorial for him.

Well, this isn't a typical kdrama. Maybe they revealed it to us just to get it out of the way because they didn't want birth secret nonsense. But they forgot that we are savvy drama watchers who will assume it's a red herring and come up with a ton of complicated theories instead of accepting the simple answer. Or they did know we would do that and did it on purpose to troll us.

Ji Hoon knew KJ isn't the dad - based on their photoshoot session early in the drama. I forgot though, who did they say the little kid was?

the little girl is still a mystery. she said KJ was not her dad. and during the photoshoot session, JH said he's KJ son.

0

The little kid is grandpa's (Lee Soon-Tae) granddaughter.

0

I don't think JH knows what his biological dad looks like, at least not until the memorial service. Bong Hee explained to grandpa that it was the first memorial service she held for HJ because all this time she believed he was still alive (and no one holds a memorial service for someone who's still alive). I'm not sure if JH has been shown a picture of his dad; if he has why doesn't he keep a copy in his own room? He doesn't have any notable reactions when he first met with HJ either. If he thought HJ shared an uncanny resemblance to his dad I would expect more from JH, but all this while he's been treating HJ like he would a stray kid.

Required fields are marked *

Thanks for listing out all the show's glaring questions. I have been wondering about JH's level of insight - I did note that at the end of the 1st/2nd episode, the narration of the reveal of HJ as JH's father was made in JH's voice. As in, from a scriptwriting perspective, it would seem to be a deliberate choice - since it was a narration, they could easily have it in KJ's voice "That was the first time JH met his father" and the story that has followed since would still flow well.
Do you think HJ would finally be revealed to the rest of the family, or would he successfully hide his face as he worms his way out of the memorial crash?

"[Hyun Jae]’s still convinced that Ji-hoon isn’t his son when he runs into him exiting the bathroom the following morning. Unable to move forward one step because they keep sidestepping in the same direction, Ji-hoon tells him to pick a side. Hyun-jae suddenly takes issue with his disrespectful tone, but Ji-hoon doesn’t know what he’s talking about and pushes him aside."

HJ dealing with the revelation that JH is his son was like he was going through the 5 stages of grief lol. I especially loved him asking WS more about JH and stealing all those glances at JH, and when he choose to risk getting caught to switch the bags. I am 100% on the JH-HJ father-son ship and I will die for this ship. I NEED THIS TO BE TRUE. OKAY, SHOW? I hope HJ falling onto his memorial food won’t be a fake out, I don’t want them to drag out JH and BH finding out about HJ. Because I REALLY need JH and HJ to bond as father and son. This is what hooked me in the first episodes and I will 100% drop this drama if they aren’t father/son and it will probably go down as one of the most disappointing dramas ever for me (especially if the real dad is peeping tom YJ NOPENOPENOPE). I think spending all this time on HJ coming to terms with JH being his son only to have it be a misunderstanding (thereby making all the time spent on it meaningless) would just be bad writing imho.

I admit having HJ as JH’s father causes a lot of problems with the time traveling. But even if HJ isn’t JH’s father there are still so many issues with the timeline that need to be resolved. Why doesn’t anyone remember HJ disappearing for at least a few weeks in May 1993 when he traveled to the present? I suppose he could go back to the same moment in time (I’d hate that though), but still you’d think people would notice a change in him or something. And how does that work if him traveling back hasn’t actually happened yet? Is Bo-hee delusional and crazy then to have imagined a relationship with HJ that produced JH? She’s a bit naive and childish, but I would note that she isn’t delusional when it comes to her career, she knows she won’t be famous again and only wanted to help pay off the debts anyway. How can there be two of the items HJ took with him to the present? Shouldn’t they have simply vanished in the present with no one remembering them? Then there is the issue of whether HJ stays in the present or goes back to the past. Either way it causes problems.

My theory is that HJ did not actually go directly to the future, instead HJ traveled from a separate parallel universe where it was 1993 to another universe where it was 2017. If there is one timeline where HJ time travels in 1993 and doesn’t father JH even if he does return and a different timeline where HJ never time traveled, fathered JH and then disappeared in 1994 for unknown reasons, and these two timelines are in fact separate universes that diverge the day of the typhoon, then the problems are pretty much resolved. That way if HJ goes back to his own time it wouldn’t affect the present and if he stays in the present it wouldn’t affect the past. Alternatively it could be that the time traveling created another HJ (kind of like Tomorrow With You where the MC had a bunch of time traveling selves running around). One HJ just fell down the stairs normally with no time travel in 1993 and stayed there until he...

i am going to put my understanding of timeline again.. since i doubt anyone would be reading the previous thread.

Original timeline:
HJ disappeared in 1993 ( time traveled to 2017), returned in 1994 ( with the knowledge of 2017), and disappeared again (dead for all we know)

BH timeline:
she started dating YSY sometime between 1993-1994 for a year ( according to CTH's comment, at the time of first disappearance itself BH was dating HJ)

HJ has zero interest in her at the moment, but BH is already in love with him in 1993 by the time of 1st disappearance (maybe rt at the moment he saved her from the goons)

Future course of drama:
Why would HJ keep his affair with BH a secret or leave her pregnant.. when he already knows that that is exactly what is going to happen..

a) since he has already seen 2017 why would he disrespect BH by keeping this relationship a secret.. when he knows how she got hate from all

b) he knows she is going to be pregnant

Therefore, no matter how i think.. i can't see BH and YSY having a relationship in any god damn timeline..

And i don't know what to make of BH.. is she that stupid? Is LJ even her son?

***********

What's with CEO's wife.. who hasnt registered her marriage.. and clearly obsesses over her hubby.. how does she know abt HJ's notebook

CEO doesn't seem smart enough to pull sly plans.. she could be the one to hand over the notebook to him and ask him to use it to make music and earn a name for himself..

ceo clearly stll likes/loves BH.. can't be that wifey doesn't know abt it..

Why does wifey want to maintain a good image in front of the other group? when hubby and the other group just don't get along

**********
i don't want hye ri to get hurt or LJ.. but isn't LJ too deep into WS to pay HR any attention..

I am okay with HR and HJ too :)

I want MJ to have a love line.. the boy is just too cute.. real life and as a character

Not sure where you are getting that Bo-hee and Gwang-jae both think BH-HJ were an item before may 1993 when HJ goes to the present? I don't remember anyone saying that, just that they had dated a year (which probably means about a year, not exactly 365 days) before HJ disappeared which I believe was in June 1994.

1

Required fields are marked *

to my theory that point is immaterial, whether they are dating or not dating at this point in 1993..

if HJ knows what happens in 2017 and basically what happened up until 2017, it does not make sense for HJ to act the way everyone thinks HJ acted in 1993-94

Ah I think you have confused the disappearances. No one in the present seems to be aware of HJ's 1993 "disappearance", it may be that time in 1993 has stopped until he returns meaning he really didn't disappear at all then or there is some other explanation. But whenever anyone talks about HJ disappearing they mean June 1994.

so time by itself (or because someone desperately prayed in 2017 to meet HJ).. time decided to rewind itself and then go back to 1993, pick HJ from there and throw him into 2017.. so that he can learn lessons go back and correct the course of history.. or well just satisfy the wish of that someone who in the first place wanted HJ to be alive and kicking

The writing in the notebook and how it's showing up in real-time bothers me. I think by classic time travel rules, even though he's writing on it in 2017, in the timeline of the notebook it's before it went into the safe so it should already have been written on. My theory is that this is a chance for him to live life differently - like the notebook is from what would have happened if he had just lived life normally and not traveled to 2017. But then, why would he disappear? My other theory, which I think is more narratively sound but doesn't explain the notebook, is that he goes back to 1993 to live until the 1994 disappearance, when I hope he returns permanently to 2017. It seems like his life up until the storm he didn't know Bo-hee very well, and if she's pregnant when he disappears, that would mean she doesn't get pregnant until sometime after he comes back from the future.

Also, now that we know they're all musical misfits, I want them to start a band. Or all debut under Kwang-jae's agency and earn all the money back.

This is possible.. and someone else also pointed out the same in one of earlier comments..

I am gonna say time does not make decisions on its own.. something has to trigger it..

Maybe it was one desperate call from JH to universe for his dad ( ep 1 starts with him dreaming of becoming someone like HJ who is also his role model somehow)... now we also know that JH is already aware that CTH is not his real father but HJ is..

so maybe that is the trigger that set off universe to replay the timeline

i for one think that notebook already exists before HJ's timejump to 2017, and HJ have multiple music books. the current book HJ has is one of them. its just connected because the real owner of both books is HJ. the book in the safe obviously already have the song MJ sang (i cant remember the title).

this is what i think, because, why would he not publish that song within 93-94? HJ only remembers up to 1993 and he remembers that song. thats why i think theres multiple or at least 2 identical music books. its either the book was stolen earlier or theres a loophole in the writing. hahaha

or there's only 1 world, where hyun jae able to go back to 1993 & gone missing again in 1994.
either way, it just boggles my mind, it sounds impossible.

Wow so many people not wanting Ji Hoon to be HJ's son, I wonder why ?. Anyway this is what I feel.
1. Even If HJ ends up not being ji hoon's dad, I think the show is projecting the hijinks that would occur if they were father-son for real. To add, even the context of them being related and HJ being ji hoon's dad brings so much possibilities that I don't mind the idea at all just to see what the show throws at us lol.
2. I don't know how it's going to be technically possible considering the back to the future scenario but there would be a probable bonding between jihoon and hyun jae, and possibly the gang will start doing something like forming a band which will save kyung Jae's building and everyone lives happily ever after ?.
3. But after everything it doesn't make any sense if hyun jae stays in the present time, even if he isn't ji hoon's father. The story can't progress in the past without him in the picture, since him running in the past with bong hee hasn't occurred yet. There are so many burning questions that whether he is the father or not isn't important right now imo. Regardless, the show 'is' going to show us the new found bonding between the pseudo father and son...and of course it's going to break Ji Hoon's heart later on when he finds out that HJ isn't his dad for real. If that's where the show is going I don't think I'll mind, as it seems like a classic trope which has been used a lot in films.
4. I still think WS-JH will be end game since romance isn't the biggest concern of the show. It's just one of the sub plots that's running the show, and with HJ not being that much interested 'romantically' about WS, I can't see WS-HJ happening. I could be wrong too, don't know. But in any case, I see HJ being interested in WS, same way he's curious about Ji Hoon, as a mentor or a well wisher. That's one of the reason I am still in doubt about the idea of him neglecting his son or potential mother of his son. But then he seems to be really immature back in the past timeline , so it could have been an accident. Or a drunken one night Stand. Lol I don't want JH to be associated with YJ, plus YJ won't have forgotten it since he is not the one to have missed such a big opportunity to claim bong hee. He probably has this this big infatuation with her since the earlier days.
5.I kind of feel sad about bong hee, seeing how some are writing her off as someone idiotic.. I do feel what we do in life can often not be justified, I mean we all are human and it's natural for us to make mistakes. So I don't judge her for loving HJ for such a long time. She may had had her reasons, plus love is something you can't account for. Anyway I'll wait to see how the mystery unfolds and her side of the story. I do appreciate the writers though, to have juxtaposed so many different ideas in the same wavelength. We don't see dramas these days where adults have as much importance in storylines as the younger characters.

I don't think commenters here *dislike* the idea of HJ being JH's father lol. Doubtful maybe because the mystery is really on whether HJ "did it" with BH so they had JH XD.

0

Required fields are marked *

i may be wrong, but i thought him running with BH has already occured? i thought all past scenes are those HJ have experienced and remembered in 1993 and theres no flashback for 'lost HJ' from 93-94. the clothing he wore during the running scene is exactly the same as the one when he took the money, gave the watch to GJ. and the money incident occured before he jumped to 2017. i'm assuming all of these events happened in a day. he gave the watch to GJ, met the client(?) and took the money, went to a club and ran with BH, then he returned home. as he remembers there is supposed to be money in his car trunk, i assume all those flashbacks we have seen have already been experienced and rememberd by HJ too.

i dont mind BH loving HJ for a long2 time, but i do mind her living with GJ from 1994 until now (or 23 years) and not even once celebrated his birthday. GJ is so kind, he gets pushed aside so easily. huhu

reply

Required fields are marked *

Oh, you could be right, did that running incident already took place? Ah, I see. But even if it did, what about the balance of time and the different eras. Like YSY has to exist somewhere right? He can't just stay in future, as that won't justify him vanishing back in '94. Also, he is now in 2017, so that means the events in 94 is 'past' too now. So if we assume that hyun jae by chance time traveled to 2017 back in '94, then another hyun jae should exist in 2017 too. Lol, don't know if that makes sense.
At any case, I feel like the writer would mess up the plot and give us an open ending. Dang I hope not.

But sometimes things aren't what they seem. Some so-called 'dating scandals' are nothing more than the media sensationalizing a platonic relationship. Or they're arranged by entertainment power brokers to divert public attention away from something else that they don't want people talking or speculating about.

What I like most about The Best Hit is the fact that Hyun Jae is smart. Even though he might be anachronistic with his dressing, expressions and happy go lucky attitude, he's able to read situations and get to the right conclusions rather quickly.

I hope they build the romance between Woo Seung and Ji Hoon, especially when I see how crazy he is about her, though I did wonder what the point of all those "fake" kisses between Woo Seung and dad was, if she's going to end up dating his son!

I like Hyun Jae more with each passing episode. I know his disappearance and his taking the money had some chain reaction that had some devastating effects. But the more I see him, the more I can't match him with this person who bailed on a pregnant lady and his friends. Is he perfect, no? But no way is he inconsiderate. In fact, he seems talented and hard working to me who has a laid back approach to life and can rise up to a challenge. He is awfully smart too and can be kind to those around him. Was Bo-Hee mistaken about the identity of her child's father?? I keep asking myself that?? But if she was who might that be? Ughhhhhh, I have so many questions.

I don't think bohee is heartless she clearly cares for gwang jae and keeps asking why is he so nice to her (might want to hear he likes her hehe) it's just hard for her to let hyun jae go since he went missing and not dead, apparently she finally made the decision of letting hyun jae go and accepting gwang jae by arranging a memorial for hyun jae (for the first time, and she did say that he is dead in her heart now) and birthday feast for gwang jae (dates for tasteful rice just like our ajhusshi likes lol) too bad everything was interrupted by hyun jae haha it was epic to watch though

1. His stair fallout during the storm (jinxing himself 3x)
2. accidental kiss with WS (is it badluck?) also 3x
3. Getting hit by KJ ( 3x with xtra headbutt)
4. Almost encounter ppl in the house (the president, Malsook and BH) in ep 12.
p/s: that epic ending tho hahahaha..., legendary crashes on his own memorial service table. Only HJ can do it.... Idk why, i'm kinda expecting that scene but still laughing hard when it came out. Gosh Hj, that's literally the Best Hit of him.

If this show wasn't hilarious at all I guess I would see through the holes in its story, but the show is at a good pace and the comic timing so far is amazing I can't help myself but enjoy the ride. I almost don't mind what could possibly happen. Almost, haha. Just keep being hilarious, show!!

There are so many different theories on Ji Hoon's parentage, but I'd like to believe in what the show is giving me (for now), mostly because I find it much more fun to watch that way. I don't want to think of future episodes or time travel implications because I will probably bust something doing so, hahaha. I just hope that whatever the show gives us remains logical. Might be hard as time travel has all sorts of loopholes. Hmm, maybe a parallel (or would it be an alternate?) universe is possible, like what other theorized. It would have been easier if Hyun Jae's disappearance was because of this accidental time travel, but there's a year between that (although how would that work though...).

Just make sure Ji Hoon's existence is secure whatever happens! And that he isn't Young Jae's son! Huhu

I'm trying to just enjoy the drama as well when watching. I don't think of any theories at that time.

It's when I go here to DB that gives me headache reading all these conspiracy theories. It's fun at the same time to read them.

And I'll try not to think of them as we go forward. I'll keep doing what I've been doing. The drama has tried its best not to be makjang. So I'm expecting the same in future episodes.

OK, I have 2 theories about how situation with Bon Hee pregnancy could resolved.
First one. Good old amnesia :)) With variations. Either Hyun-jae forget about year in his life while he was in the past, so he travelled in time in 1994 thinking that it's 1993. Either he travels back to the past life forgetting about events in future, develop romance with Bon Hee and after that dissapears. Maybe back to the future returning all memories again.
Second one. Parallel worlds. Hyun-jae travelled not only in time but also between worlds. So in 1994 dissapears Hyun-jae-2 and he also a father to Ji-hoon. It's more complicated version but with many possibilities. :) And it could explain link between notebooks.

I find it curious the way Ji-hoon interacts with Kwang-jae as his "father" but I have not really seen him interact with Bo-Hee as his mother. She doesn't seem to dote on him, call him 'adeul', worry about his schooling, ask if he has eaten or anything the way typical Korean moms are portrayed to do. I don't think it's malicious but maybe more of an oversight in how the script was written, in order to emphasize the good relationship between Kwang-jae amd Ji-hoon.

Remember, Hyun Jae originally from 1993 not 1994. If Ji-Hoon is Hyn Jae and Bo-Hee's son AND their relationship hasn't started until 1994, then Ji-Hoon is in danger of not existing. Let's say if Hyun Jae and Woo-Seeung became the OTP then what would happen to Ji-Hoon. We know by the notebook, that Hyun Jae goes back in time again.

Reading all the comments, I think this show has introduced a new genre to kdrama "who's your father?" ...lol. I honestly think they could do a series out of this with different settings (1994, 1997, sageuk). I vote Young-Jae as the father since he still comes around looking for Bo-Hee.

I laughed so hard at JH's abs signing, drinking water through the eyes, GJ saying HJ is unwell after getting data plan, mc drill searching his name (sad but funny) and finally, HJ crashing his memorial. MC Drill needs more lines (what does he do all day anyway?).

For some reason...

I just have a feeling that the main emotional impact the show might bring later on is when there's uncertainty of Jihoon's existence?

Maybe I'm being too imaginative but what if there's an unexpected change in history due to Hyunjae's current choices made in present times which might lead to the danger of the erasure of Jihoon's entire existence? Seeing as what he has written on his 'past' notebook in the current time has an effect on his 'current' notebook that is currently in the hands of another, Jihoon's existence is definitely on the line if Hyunjae is really the father.

Sure, we can debate on whether Hyunjae is Jihoon's dad or not but we can't deny that there is a connection between them. It's being blatantly highlighted throughout the show from the very beginning.

I even think that's the main purpose of the show putting up the blatant message of Hyunjae being Jihoon's dad. It was on purpose so that us, as viewers, would pay attention to the connections between them even with our doubts.

Thus which leads me to believe that the choices Hyunjae will make in the future will still have a butterfly effect on Jihoon's future as well even if it has been revealed that it was a fake-out and that they are not related by blood. What sort of effect? I'm not sure.
