I am preparing for marbling workshop, so just briefly dropping by. as always, I delve wayyyy too deep into each theme, brought 8 books in english from the library and plan to test around 5 types of size & colors. artistic idiot...

anyway, this question popped into my head: any drama where the OTP did end up together but felt like a mismatch for some reason? Or where there was a OTP that had no chemistry at all?

Jaejoong and UEE in Manhole: No chemistry at all. I don't even understand their characters' love storyline.

Park So Dam and Jung Il Woo in C&4K. I don't why, but I felt so off looking at them together. Both are good actors, but I guess no chemistry.

Sung Joon and UEE in High Society. Their love storyline should be intense, but I don't feel it at all.

Yesss, Uee and Lee Sang woo were great together. But Uee and Sung Joon? Not so much. I guess she's the kind of actress that has chemistry to certain actors only. She's really good chemisty with Lee Seo Jin in Marriage Contract.

I've only liked Uee in Marriage Contract. In High Society her character just turned me off. I guess while I'm used to the leads lying to each other for any number of reasons . I couldn't stand the way she lied to what was supposed to be her best friend. Whose scenes with Park hyun shik were the only ones I liked to watch. They were good together.

Dr. Jin Song Seung Hoon & Park Min Young ... dryland
School 2015 Kim So Hyun & Nam Joo Hyuk

And sorry if I offend anyone, this is not personal attack
Heirs Park Shin Hye & Lee Min Ho
(tbh, I ship Kim Woo Bin & Kim Ji Won, they are such a wrong hot turn for step sibling story haha)

Yes!! In School 2015 Kim So Hyun didnt have any kind of chemistry with Joo Hyuk, but with SungJae was of the charts.. the second lead syndrome hit me really hard with that drama.

Required fields are marked *

Lucky Romance I don't know if the leads had no chemistry or if the writing was just---gah--bad. But, I remember watching the final episodes and there is a time jump and fingers crossed hoping that when the leads bumped into each other the male lead would be happily married to someone else. And the female lead would be sitting there...sad and alone.
This is before I learned how to drop a bad drama.

Whats worse is when you end up dropping the good ones and sticking with the bad.

2

Required fields are marked *

It was a mixture of both imo. I really thought Ryu Jun Yeol did his best to try and create chemistry between him and HJE but it just didn't work and her character needed psychological help (one of the worst written female leads I have ever seen) so it was very hard to buy into the romance. I have seen alot of HJE's shows but I don't find she ever has much chemistry with her leading men. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2
reply

Required fields are marked *

Oh I have 2 where I despised the OTP and really wish the dramas cut the romance from the show.

k2 Ji Chang-Wook and Yoona -- This would have been in my top dramas if the romance wasn't there. So jarring no, chemistry and totally unneeded.

Gaksital Joo Won and Jin Se-Yun -- There was absolutely no chemistry between her and either of the male leads. Gaksital is my favorite kdrama but it would have been perfect without her character, or a better actress.

Hullo everyone! Commenting again after lurking backgrounds for a while (again). Is anyone else experiencing a drama drought? I only had School 2017 to look forward to and now that's gone. Nothing else other than Age of youth ( with super late subtitles) and strong deliveryman is remotely appealing. I like Save Me, but I need something else to counteract the shivers it sends me(even though I've been a thriller/horror watcher since I was a kid and nothing fazes me).

In other news, I have inculcated my family into kdrama watching - though they still only watch thrillers. But one step at a time eh? After all, my brother is now asking about the OSTs and Kpop! ( giggles maniacally)

I'm feeling the same way. I have never watched a long kdramas because there were so many other kdramas on my plate. with the drought, I started Father is Strange (50 eps) and boy am I glad I did! I am waiting for Temperature of Love, it looks really good.

started it too, not quite as raving as everyone else and I skip a lot. But Kim Hae Sook! it doesnt matter what she is in, there is no discount in the acting. even the smallest scene, full on emotion. She should lead big movies (instead of the recurring directors´ pet ahjussis). I am just amazed at her level of quality. role model of professionalism.
Father is well-played, too. Haven´t gotten too far yet, seen less of others.

I'm kind of in one...such an inopportune time. I have nothing but time on my hands so, I'm ready to watch and there's nothing appealing. I just finished watching Love in Tokyo which is a few years old. But I had just realized that it was an adaptation of Itazura na kiss that I hadn't seen yet. Thats a tried and true way for me to get out of slumps.
The only currently airing drama that I'm watching is Strongest Deliveryman I was watching Save Me and I just moved into a new state and...it was a bit too close to home! Once the dust settles I'll try again :) And I keep forgetting Reunited Worlds exists.

Father is Strange is love! Enjoy it, guys!

Same here chingu! This past year, I had the horror of dropping a ton of dramas (which I had never done because im a loyal pup ) and after School 2017, I'm only watching Age of youth. I tried watching 50 ep drama but I got too frustrated on how horrid and annoying some of the characters are (*throws side eye at The Man Who Sets The Table). I thought i could just skip past some of the scenes but ughhh

But I hope you'll find a drama that will destroy that drought of yours ! I know I'll keep digging to find mine :)

What is almost worse than a drought is when you have a very full schedule of dramas that your enjoying and suddenly it's just too much and you just let go of the reins and drop them all, I did that last year. I still have a couple I want to pick back up and complete. I think I've heard it called drama fatigue in one of the podcasts.

Anyway, so I watched the knowing brother episode with EXO , and I discovered another soul mate RBF-serial killer wannabe DO.
I really couldn't stop laughing when Hee-psycho started to imitate DO, and instead looked like a psycho himself :D

I can't imagine how SM's mind works in having a idol that looks at others like he loves them (Suju's Sungmin) and a idol that looks at others like killing is possible (DO).

All I can think of is how vivid Bus scenes in K-dramas are filmed. I think I should watch all my favourite bus scenes again. My favourite one has to be Lee Jong Suk in School 2013, when he got up to 'peacefully' run away from the bullies. But there was nothing romantic about that, just the one girl from class cross-questioning him — hilarious!!!

That's it you should cross-question him if you want to be friends.

And you should tell him your real name if you want to be more than friends – circa School 2013, wrong 'ship'-'shippers'.

Good luck, maybe this is your ultimate OTP.

Drama law says if you left your umbrella in the bus, chances are your lead hero will take the umbrella and bring it to you, be it immediately (he follow you take off the bus) or on the next meeting.

But seriously. Be careful. Stranger danger. No matter how cute he is.

I am all caught up with The King Loves and boy, am I glad there's a place like Dramabeans where one can freely express one's opinion and not get attacked. Things can get heated up especially when it comes to such a drama. However, you just need to defend your POV when there's a disagreement and call it a truce when there's no resolution.

I think they aren't seeing anything beyond the love triangle.

I haven't read all the pages but I'd imagine that it started as a preference for one pairing over the other, then arguments escalated between the two camps and things got ugly.

Heorine Shikkaku - I disliked part of manga so kept a certain distance from movie but after completing it. Kiritani Mirei is awesome in it. Kimi Ni Todoke in 2010 and 5 years later Mirei still looks the same - 1.5 years later - A Girl and 3 Sweethearts - still looks pretty young and slim. I won't say manga source is any good but Mirei alone carried the movie.

@alua I'm watching Kahogo no Kahoko now. As soon as i saw 1st 15 minutes of it several weeks ago, i put it in watchlist and then most of my time was taken by Kdramas. But after reading your criticism of it and the way The 10th episode trended on Twitter Japan i'm now watching it. As soon as ep 10 aired Twitter Japan had reached 40k+ tweets.

Akira to Akira was in my pending list from the start but after dumping most of the kdramas i'm ready to fly over Nippon-Land. No fat guy and his missiles can restrain a tv viewer.

Kurosagi - 3 days - 11 episodes and skipped the movie. A better manga to live-action adaptation. 7 out of 10.

Waiting for Tori Girl. Tao Tsuchiya is like Kento. Taking all manga-to-Live-Action adapations and all the popular ones.
Orange, P to JK,
2018 - My Little Monster
Kasane - This is mature content. From evening Magazine.
Bride for 8 Years.

She has made it big.

Yui Aragaki's - table tennis movie MIX looks good too.

Kento - Hyouka - popular light-novel to manga to anime to Live-Action Movie. But trailers doesn't look good.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K - not much known manga among forign audience to anime to Live-adaptation. Why Kento

Seriously Japanese season is too awesome to be ignored.

@CatoCat I have found the last couple of episodes a bit wanting. Plot is moving too fast (I really don't think Kahoko should get married – it's much, much too soon and I don't think it makes sense, nor is it necessary). And I have the same complaints as before – I'd like this better if the hero wasn't just a device and if the side characters were quirky but loveable. But the Kahoko actress is doing very well. I actually went & rewatched "Love that Makes You Cry", where she has a supporting role, and she's just so, so different there – really shows that she's got some acting range.

I have heard that the director wanted to cast an actress who got acting chops for Kahoko and the actress was chosen.
Indeed, she should not have married this stage but again, I have heard many cases, including my brother, where couples decided to get married soon after they got to know each other. Some are nearly as clueless as Kahoko!

I think it just spoils that drama. Well, I guess ultimately this is what makes it a good, but not an excellent or outstanding drama (knows it down from 7/10 to 6.5 or 6 for me now). I don't think the writer had such a solid grab on the plot and the material as the one for NigeHaji did. It's just a bit of a pity, that's all. But it should get the Kahoko actress some roles in the future (I think they underused Mugino, I think the character could have been playing by others as well, but Kahoko was perfectly – irreplaceably – cast).

Yeah, I know some people get married very quickly... but I can't think of anyone where that involved someone as inexperienced with life as Kahoko. I would think that there are very few Kahoko's in the world, as she's really at an extreme (but probably many people with elements of Kahoko, that yes).

I kind of guessed it will end up with marriage but it really did? :/ aww, I think I'll keep watching and keep my opinion till the last ep to rate the drama :( but true, underused Mugino and Kahoko was irreplaceable. With other actress, I might dislike her.

But what I liked most from the drama is the heartwarming feeling it has :)

When comes to newsroom and news broadcasting drama, I still find that Korean dramas still have a long way to reach the level of Japanese dramas in this genre. The subjects and issue touched in Korean dramas always centered around corruption by higher political figures whereas Japanese dramas covered wider issues including personal issues like ratings, competition between networks, age etc. "News no Onna" and even the campy "Bijo ka Yaju" resonated a lot more than any newsroom/broadcasting related Korean dramas.

News no Onna is gold. Definitely on top of my J-dorama classics. I love the subjects touched in the drama. Tamaki is such a conflicted character and yet Honami Suzuki still made that character so endearing. We sadly have not seen any interesting female character like that in K-dramas.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you're all doing well today and I hope you've had a good week.

This week:

Falsify - The tattooed killer is quite the baddie but he has this air of emptiness though.  It would be interesting to get his backstory, but with multiple subplots going on, that may not be possible.

Live Up to Your Name - I've been a fan of Kim Nam-gil for the longest time and his performance here shows that he continues to know what he's doing once the camera starts rolling.  He's like a kid one minute then seamlessly moves to desperation, or sadness the next and it all works. It works, I tell ya!

That's all for now. ...... Take care everyone and have a great Friday!

the girls have done well this year, too, maybe because the roles have started to divert from clichés. This acting with the flair of "I know my worth!" and giving a very strong impression that people dont even expect coming. Like Lee Sung Kyung, currently Chae Soo-Bin and Go Won-Hee. and 30-40+ actresses too! Cho Yeo-Jeong. one ahjussi who turned around his image and totally won me over is Lee Deok-Hwa! totally lovable.
Kim Nam Gil has some sort of old-fashioned quality about his acting, he plays a guy from joseon in LUTYN but it feels like he came from the 1950ies.I didnt like his new haircut first, but then I was sort of reminded of Humphey. The humor on the other hand is more a mix of pre-Pirates Johnny Depp + Paul Reubens as Pee-Wee Herman (in short, if Tim Burton would cast korean stars....he should cast KNG)

Hi Beanies !

So far my first week in Düsseldorf was good. I didn't start classes yet (only in October). My landlord is an awkwardly cute or a cutely awkward human being haha. He always tells me that he doesn't know what to do with hi life when he wakes up in the morning. Well, I'm not any better.

The weather is strange but I like it so far. In a day, it's raining, sunny and windy. Luckily it's not as cold as I thought.

Since I don't have Internet in my room, I sometimes go to the train main station or in the mall center. Funny story : I wanted to activate my German prepaid SIM-card and I had to show my ID card doing a webcam with one of the phone's company employee. I spent 20 minutes flapping around my card in front of my phone looking ridiculous. Result : Failed. The video quality was too bad for the employee to see my ID card. A guy was sitting on a bunch next to me and saw everything ha. He actually talked to me in French (I'm French btw) and wished me luck. At least I brightened someone's day with my antics.

If @swunnie happens to read this. Hey I would like to contact you :D

Happy Friday :)

Next week is fine with me :) I have time on Monday and Tuesday.
I'm a little bit confused because of your problems with your SIM-card. From which provider is the SIM-card? If it still doesn't work, I recommend the SIM-card from Aldi. Just ask for a 'Starterset einer SIM-Karte' at the checkout in Aldi. You will get a SIM-card with a registration code and after the registration you can book one of the packages. This is one of the easiest (and cheapest) possibility here.

This weekend promises to be a busy one. Inbetween getting some work done, I am also getting three new tattoos, watching ten miles of peach blossom, secret forest and catching up on the latest episodes of age of youth and girls generation 1979. Bonus points if I am able to watch the new Argon episodes as well ☺️☺️☺️☺️

How do you care for your tattoos right after you get them? I'm not getting one anytime soon though I'm considering it seriously, but I'm anxious that it may not heal well as I have slightly sensitive skin. (Any other tips on what to look out for/ consider when getting a tattoo will be appreciated too!)

Oh so sorry I'm just replying this. I had an uber busy day at work. Way, the usual tattoo care comes in. Everything must be sterilized and I keep the bandage and plastic wrap on for like 6 hrs before I take it off and wash with unscented soap. Usually I find like a small bowl, pour some of the soap in it and just pour it in small streams over the tattoo to get rid of the blood and scabbed skin. Speaking of scabs, no picking at it when it starts coming off, just let it do its thing. And I moisturize like 3-5 times a day. Lubriderm is an amazing moisturizer if you can get it. If I can't find it around, I fall on coconut oil or cocoa butter as the last alternative. Most importantly, let your artist know ahead of time that your skin is pretty sensitive so they can be careful about the ink they choose to use. I know it's not so extensive but I recommend this link as it is more detailed: http://uniqueinktattoo.com/tattoos/tattoo-aftercare/

All the best with when you decide to get the tat :).

Hi Beanies!

I've been busy with running errands this week and I'll start working on Monday. I'm nervous and excited at the same time!

About kdrama, I watched the first two episodes of Lingerie Girl's Generation and I love it! I wasn't planning on watching it at first, but somehow ended up watching it anyway. I hope I can still squeeze in this drama in my schedule after I start working as next week will be Temperature of Love premiere! Not to forget, it'll be the finale of The King Loves! Ah, I really need to work on which drama has the top priority.

Anyway, I'm out of dramas for my Wed-Thurs. I've dropped Reunited Worlds and I just follow the recap now. As for Manhole, I really dislike the drama now, it's really getting on my nerves, but I love watching Jaejoong though I hate his character in there. It's so hard, you know. Ahhh how I wish While You Were Sleeping drama airs already to fill in my Wed-Thurs drama. Nevertheless, my weekend dramas (Save Me, AoY2, LUTYN, SDM) have always been the best! However, I still haven't watched LUTYN ep 10 because I heard that it's a sad episode and I couldn't handle the heartbreak yet. I might pick it up tomorrow before ep 11 airs.

Have a nice weekend. I'm going to spend my time at home and be lazy, opps not so lazy. I'm re-watching King's Daughter Su Baek-hyang and now at epi 25. Watching this drama made me realize more and more (not that I never realized it) Seo Hyun-jin is really a gem and now it made me miss her more in sageuk. Hopefully series of sageuk next year would be better than this year - drama itself and the castings.

Happy Friday Beanies!

It's been a long week, and I'm hoping the week gets better for everyone, what with the horrible bombing in London and the missile launch by N Korea. ☹️

Only watching Live Up to Your Name now but looking forward to the pretty that is Temperature of Love and While You Were Sleeping! I hope they will be good.

Question: Do you watch dramas that are based on your real life job? Love it? Hate it? Avoid it like the plague?

I've had a week where real life is crazier than fiction but strangely enough watching my job dramatized on screen actually helps me distress and forget my real life frustrations. Wonder if it's the same for the rest of you Beanies?

Have a good weekend! ?

Hi @michykdrama! *waves with both hands enthusiastically* Your week was rough! I'm glad we have a place like DB to decompress. To your question, I've waffled a bit on this one. In college, during pre-med, I organized an ER watching party in my dorm and we had a gathering every week. (Now you know that watching parties are my thing.) That was a great show initially, then it got bogged down and stopped watching it after Carter *swoon* left. The medicine was fine I thought and because it was before I actually had any experience in medicine, I probably overlooked a lot of things. I then watched Grey's Anatomy--no drama watching party here--until Mc Dreamy and Meredith got engaged (the candle house was so romantic), but I didn't pay any attention to the medicine at all. It was purely to turn off my brain after a long day in residency and inpatient/ER. And yes, I had crazy days and their lives just seemed to make my life look better, so that's why I watched. Then I swore never to watch any medical dramas ever again, because I got too nitpicky, and I had kids. Fast forward to last year. Only because a non-medical friend recommended Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim (because her friend was in it) did I watch it, but with a huge grain of salt, and a pretty big bias against Kdramas. I really wasn't going to see it, but my hubby was deep into Kdramas at that point and I didn't want to keep watching the same two that he loved for the rest of my life. And now, I'm back to trying them again. RDTK was just that impressive. However, I hopped on board Hospital Ship immediately, and immediately abandoned ship after the 2nd night. So, now, I'm a bit gun shy. I'd rather just watch something that doesn't annoy me than something that does, so in practice, I think I would avoid a medical drama unless it was done like RTDK.

I never recovered from ER, I watched the same as you, until Carter left, i still watch some episodes, but the one when Dr Green died.. it was so sad, so perfect send off, and then "All in the family" when Carter and Lucy get stabbed.. wow, i miss them, watch "Doctors" or "Doctor Crush" is the same drama, take it from a former ER fan... and is similiar to Grey´s beginning (when it was a good show)

Open Thread Week 31! So much happening this weekend that I may need to clone myself (#circle/#duel). Actually, my mom is coming into town today to help with the kids as hubby and I and our two friends are GOING TO MONTREAL/QUEBEC CITY next week! Love this forum because you all understand how amazing this will be for a Goblin fangirl like myself. Been preparing for the past several weeks, getting everything ready to make this a dream come true!

Otherwise, we are still hooked with The King Loves. With the hubby out of town, I had to give him the summary of the last few episodes—my favorite comment, Him: “She’s dead? Who killed her?” Me: “Won.” Him: “NO, really???” *in utter shock* *goes to pull up the episode, comes back* Him: “I just FF it and she’s at the end of the episode, when does she die?” Me: “At the beginning.” Him: “Then why is she at the end?” Me: “He’s delusional and talking with her if she’s actually there.” Him: “Wait, who killed her?” Me: “WON, W-O-N”; Him: “Whoa.” *still in shock* Me: “My mom’s coming to town, you can watch it with her as I’m sure she’ll be watching it again this weekend!”

And, I am LOVING White Christmas. I’m not a psychological thriller type girl usually, but the psychiatrist character in this one is amazing and loving the thinking games going on. And Lee El! It took me five episodes to figure out that she is my “Lady in Red” in Goblin. I love her. And, of course, still enjoying all the eye candy in this one.

And, I hope everyone in the US got through Irma safely. My dad and I spoke a few hours after Orlando was hit.

Me: You have a generator? Brother posted on FB that you had one.

Dad: It’s just running the refrigerator, and the TV for your mom.

Me: Is this so she can watch “The King Loves?”

Dad: You know her and dramas.

Me: *Laughing* I certainly do.

Moral of the Story: Hurricane generator priorities: 1. Food and 2. Kdramas. LOL!

Second Moral: Dreams do come true!

Third Moral: My dad is not nearly as funny as my husband, but he dotes on my mom, so that’s ok.

Not sure if Olympics 2018 wil happen because of the NK situation, but bringing that relevance to KDramas, I hope the writers for late Winter dramas prepare for it and the breaks and ratings (its the Olympics happening in SK so no way will any broadcasting channel not air something about it). I was following W at the time of Rio and it was a shame that the episode count was messed up and it also messed with the cliff hangers and weekly feels.

Also I bet a whole slew of kpop groups will be invited to perform - if so can we get all of the Kings and Queens from Masked Singer to get a stage, maybe starting out in their masks even? Not possible huh :(

Good morning! Been only watching the Chinese dramas King's Woman and Lost Love In Time this week.

Lost Love In Time Really liking this one. Love the fantasy elements of the show and that love you know you shouldn't have but just can't resist. The main actors which I've never seen in a Cdrama before aren't my favorite. The main guy (William Chan) only ever has 2 looks on his face. Cecilia Liu feels kinda bland also. Don't know if it's the actress or just her character. But I am still really enjoying it and am personally liking it better than The King's Woman. The story and fantasy and romance is more compelling for me.

King's Woman This one I am enjoying less and less but I am happy Li has finally begun to succumb to the king. However, I think she is feeling Stockholm Syndrome rather then love. The king was wondering why she isn't coming to him and loving him but it's probably because he forced her to be his concubine, took her away from her family and friends, and is an abuser. He will grab her by the neck or face or physically force her to look at him and then will turn around and say 'I wont let anyone hurt you', anyone but himself that is. Exact sign of an abusive spouse. I try to look past it though as the two of them are adorable in the later episodes, and the king is like a cute love-struck puppy. I think the actors are much better in this drama compared to Lost Love In Time.

Sadly I have caught up to the episodes that are out for both dramas. This weekend I am heading to my Mom's and we will binge watch 7 Day Queen. YAY! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

That's my struggle with The King's Woman. I LOVE the leads but sigh it's totally a weird abusive relationship. Y'know what's crazy though? His behavior isn't even the worst for that time period.
Zhang Vin is such a charming actor and Dilmurat Dilraba is enchanting so it's hard not to watch their chemistry. Hopefully they will get parts that are less morally conflicting in their new dramas.

Ya women were not kindly treated in the past but I still don't really want to see it in my dramas. Now that Li is falling for him he is much better, but I am honestly not sure why she likes him. She went from not liking him to liking him in a very short period of time and I wasn't convinced of her change of heart. I'll keep watching it as long as the cute side of the king sticks around, I was getting uncomfortable with the abusive side of him.

Good morning everyone!
I have been a slug this week. I'm 2 1/2 weeks in to my new adventure. The first week I was sick and the second week I was *ahem* indisposed and miserable. The days that I have been well enough to go out and explore the new state I have been in too much of a panic to actually--you know, go.
I buckled down and signed up for temporary employment agencies yesterday (and more today) as well as keeping an eye out for librarian positions. I'm considering moving to a new state sometime in the next month. I don't know if its an actual good idea or if I'm just reacting to things not going how I want them to go. It was disheartening to apply for temporary work on the same day that I got an email from my school saying that my diploma was in the mail.
I heard back from the job I interviewed with last week and they told me that while my storytime and personality are excellent they need someone with a few years more experience than I have. Which is fine. I left knowing that I didn't get it--they need a more aggressive personality than I have and even if I were willing to change such a fundamental aspect of my personality (I'm not) I wouldn't even know how to go about it. Besides, the position is so specialized and considering that I JUST graduated I want to spend a few years (at least) doing what I went to school for before leaping into something like that. Shrug.
I'm grateful for a community like DB as it gives me a place to fangirl out (often) and distract me from the mess that is my life. I think 57 times a day, "Can't someone who is much, much, MUCH, smarter than me please come and fix my life? I'll wait. Thank you."
Now that I've brought the room down...I hope that you all are having a much, MUCH better week than me!

Battle Trip: Kangnam wants to raise a flamingo. It was neck in neck with the Tequila Brothers in Cancun and the Libra Cuba! team. But Cancun was a bit more exciting and exotic and Kangnam is just fun!

Fantastic Duo: I nearly cried when Vegetable Vendor lady and Z Young sang, but Darling Slam Dunk Taeyang Bromance, wow, that’s it! I am going to watch You’re Beautiful, one of the first kdramas I ever saw with Jang Keun Suk (♥) after hearing Z Young sing the OST. She really is a legend.

I Live Alone – congratulations on the 200th episode! Love looking back at this season’s highlights.

The Man Who Sets the Table – old school father/husband filled with patriarchal fury for not being obeyed on demand by his wife and daughter – I don’t think I can follow this for 50 eps.

Girls Generation 1979 – this has all the feels that uncertain friendship, crushes, and the internal struggles of high school bring. I love the nostalgia and innocence of it all.

Code Blue S3 (jdrama) and Hospital Ship – I watched episodes back to back and forgot they are two different dramas.

Looking forward to virtual date night with a kdrama friend - we catch an episode of Infinite Challenge on Friday nights at the same time, coordinating our different time zones. The best part is a face mask and running comments on the antics of our IC team. Have a great weekend!

p.s. Manhole – speaking of time zones, I’m sure Pil and Soo Jin will eventually find each other in the present (if he gets there), but what is with Pharm boy? We see him angry and attacking someone every episode, but why and what is the Jekyll/Hyde thing? Is he drinking a concoction behind the drugstore counter?

Hi Beanies! Anyone watching Hospital Ship?

I gave up on the medical realism this week - it's beyond ridiculous - and found myself watching an otherwise great show! I am enjoying the dramatic, over the top characterization; Ha Ji Won and Kang Min Hyuk has pretty good on-screen chemistry; and Ha Ji Won and Kang Min Hyuk are my latest celebrity crushes [let's face it - Ha Ji Won is badass, and Kwak Hyun is uber perfect] .

I can see why it's doing so well with ratings at the moment. If one isn't a doctor, it's the perfect show to unwind to, after a hard day.

The medical part is crap. It's also soooooooooooo dramatic – beyond belief. And I actually thought after the most recent episodes that I don't like HJW's character? She's just cold and it's kind of boring. I guess sometimes she cool when she's in super-doctor-mode, but even then she's often just trying too hard to do the absolute opposite everyone else (well, that's how the writer sets it up). And I don't care for her character. There should be something lonely and heart-breaking about her given her story, but somehow it's not moving *my* heart (well, maybe my heart is made of stone).

Your heart is perfectly alright. <3 I have nothing else but Age of Youth 2 as well.

To be honest, I'm in it for the noona romance - my catnip and there's not much I won't watch for it. Ha Ji Won's doctor won me over in episode 4 (8?) when she said she wanted to return on her own merit and not by pulling others down. I thought at that moment that this is a character worth watching the show for - she does have compassion and principles, just not immediately obvious. I'd have dropped it last week were it not for that one scene. There was more this week - for instance, how Kwak Hyun could tell her about his father. It was obvious she would never tell another soul [desperately praying the show doesn't ruin this].

Well, the problem with Age of Youth 2 is the lack of subs..... (I would very much like to be watching that.)

I've watched up to 8 and still feel nothing for her. Nah, she won't tell anyone else because, actually, she doesn't really talk to others. :-/

Oh not even after the last episode when she was so desperate to save the teacher but he refused? And she talked about her regret and broke down.. and finally got the hug she deserved?! Oh well.. I guess to each their own.. I am really enjoying her character.. of course I wish she emoted more.. but she is getting there!

Yessa! Finally another beanie enjoying hospital ship! I was beginning to feel quite lonely on fan wall.. I don't really watch the show as a medical one either.. more a slice of life.. the character arcs are quite beautiful.. and the scenery.. and Kang Min hyuk! <3

@silverdrafts - I'll take Kang Min Hyuk or Park Hyung Sik, since you'd have a tough time pulling Im Siwan out of the army. ^^

Alternatively, I'd be happy with Bogummy or Hyun Bin. Take your pick. ^^;

LoL, I want to kidnap Ji Chang-wook myself, so while I'm breaking into the army, I can grab Im Si-wan for you as well. And I'll see which idol I can grab too...

I re-watch I Hear Your Voice for xx-th time while (im)patiently waiting While You Were Sleeping to air.
IHYV is the drama that can make me like noona romance. Before, i don't like noona romance in dramas especially when I was a teenager, felt like all handsome young men would be snatched by older women and left me none (Haha silly me).
Now think about it, noona romance isn't something unfamiliar in my life. All of my mother's younger sisters married to younger man. The age differences are 5 years, 6 years, 1 year and 9 years. From what I see till now there's no problem caused by the age difference in their life. So, now I believe that age difference is nothing in relationships, whether the woman who is older or the man that is much older, as long as there are love, commitment, trust, honesty and good communication.

Is anyone watching Man Who Sets the Table? I enjoyed episodes 1-2, and then drama unleashed the parents from hell and went all melo. must have really back luck picking long dramas. *wails*

I did have a self-realization moment though: watching too many kdramas has conditioned me to think it's CUTE to watch the male lead whine and pretend to be sick so that the girl would stay near him, and an excuse for 'skinship'. Now, do that same exact routine with a 60-year old abusive man who's trying to manipulate his submissive wife into not leaving him (because he wants a nurse in his old age), and it's DISHONEST and makes me furious.

Man Who Sets the Table, I'm flipping the table in frustration.

hi fellow kdrama fans,

Lately, I have fallen into kdrama doldrums - no drama interests me much. I watch a few episodes of Live Up to Your Name and Reunited Worlds randomly. LUTYN because of Kim NamGil (haven't seen him in anything after Queen Seon Deok) and RW because I started watching when it first started - it doesn't really hold my interests, just to pass some time.

Gone are the days when i used to watch a kdrama everyday and can hardly wait for the next episode - even though the internet line was terribly slow and there were not as many sites as now to watch. Those were the days I discovered "live re-caps" and recaps (love you and TQ so much DB!)

no drama holds my interest and attention much these days. Last kdrama i liked and watched all the episodes was 7 Days Queen. Oh, and New Journey to the West season4 - not a drama though.

What's wrong with me and is there any cure for this?

fellow beanies HELLLPP ME pls

I didn't take to any of the "school" series.

didn't try Age of Youth 1 either - I think that was around the time the "slump" started.

I've been watching Kdramas for around 10 years. Is it because i'm tired of the "almost same old same old" storylines? or is there a drop in the quality of the kdramas lately?

I tried changing to variety shows but apart from New Journey to the West season 4, others do not interest me much. Knowing Brothers occassionally has guests that interest me - otherwise meh ..

haii .....

Guys! I think I've finally made some kdrama converts! I convinced a friend of mine to watch Boys Over Flowers (the only other kdrama she had watched beforehands was Can We Get Married and it didn't really hook her right away. BOF is another story XD) AND - and this is the big one - the man in my life is now WILLINGLY watching them with me. As in, he even asked if we could watch the second season of Let's Eat after we finished the first one.

Anyway, just wanted to share. I'm spreading the love. I'm practically a kdrama missionary by this point (not really. but it's good to have goals) <3

AGE OF YOUTH

I figured I'd try again - I was wondering if anyone could talk to me about the type of abuse discussed/shown in the show? I really want to watch it, but am worried about it being too triggering as a survivor. I'm okay with spoilers!

Thanks <3

Hi, to fill you in - *SPOILERS*

One of the girls is in an abusive relationship. Her boyfriend doesn't particularly care for her and pretty much just wants sex. He is also jealous of her for being in a better university than his.

They start out okay enough, but it is soon revealed that he has mood swings and exhibits violent tendencies. She attempts to break up with him, unsuccessfully at first - she apologizes and asks to start again - but with resolve the second time. This is when he loses it and kidnaps her for a couple of days. She is found beaten, lying in her own urine - these scenes are shown and you may want to skip them.

The majority of the show is pretty amazing. Ye Eun's relationship isn't unwatchable at first, either.

You can also just start from season 2. The first season is of course, essential to the back story - but you will understand all of it in Season 2 as well.

I may be too late posting here, but what are people's thoughts on the new DramaFever? It sort of looks like it's trying to be Viki. I think there are no longer commenting capabilities on the episodes, too. I come here for commentary anyway, though! :)

i think everything is too big, visually... it's all "in my face". what i don't like is that DF is licensing fewer kdramas... or the licensing is being snapped up by others. i think it's great for cdrama viewers, as DF seems to be licensing a ton, and uploading lots of chinese dramas. they do not upload jdramas anymore, there was a time when they seemed to start, but then interest apparently wasn't there for the japanese doramas.

Anyone know what's happening with KBSworld live(English)? Has it been taken away because of the new streaming service in the US? I used to watch it all the time with my husband on YouTube but now even the button has disappeared. ? So now we can only watch a few shows or the show fragments they have.

The lyrics to this song rain reminds me so much of goblin.

Cause baby, when you're gone
All it does is rain, rain, rain down on me
Each drop is pain, pain, pain when you leave
It's such a shame we fucked it up, you and me
'Cause baby, when you're gone
All it does is rain
