Untold terror and strange happenings in Rescue Me teaser
by tineybeanie
Oooh, shivers just went up my spine from watching the latest teaser for Rescue Me, the upcoming psychological thriller on OCN. It captures both the youthful tone and the frightening mystery that the main characters become entangled in. Set in a small sleepy town in the countryside, a religious cult begins to take over, its insidious teachings slowly pervading the minds of the townspeople. A neighborhood gang of four young hot-blooded boys led by Taecyeon (Bring It On, Ghost) try to rescue their first love, played by Seo Ye-ji (Hwarang), from its clutches.
The teaser opens with the cult leader, played by Jo Sung-ha (The K2), telling a young naive-looking Seo Ye-ji, “The embrace of the new god is open to anyone.” Her eyes are shut tight in what seems to be prayer, but they suddenly jerk wide open when hands grasp at her thighs. Then the scene changes to one where Jo Sung-ha is in front of a large audience of prostrate followers who sway fervently to his preachings. She passes out flyers on the street, presumably promoting the cult, and Taecyeon and one of his school buddies watch her on their motorcycles from afar.
A fight breaks out at the school, and Taecyeon and his crew, being the brash youths they are, are amongst the first to send flying kicks to their opponents. Seo Ye-ji is cornered against a wall, and a man’s voice tells her “You will soon earn salvation.” In between, the copy reads: “Hot-blooded youths save the world from a religious cult.” Then there’s a blur of clips that show Taecyeon running with his friends right behind him, Seo Ye-ji struggling to break free of her captor on the ground, and Taecyeon arguing that they should do something.
A woman’s sinister voice says, “We don’t give up” in the background, as Jo Sung-ha glares creepily. Then the teaser closes out with a close-up of Seo Ye-ji’s face, bloodied, shivering, and covered in sweat, as she whispers, “Rescue me.”
So far, this drama has been doing a fantastic job of setting the stage for its chilling mystery. According to the production staff, Taecyeon became so immersed in the emotions of his character that he couldn’t stop crying even after the PD yelled cut in the bus chase scene pictured below. I’m looking forward to his simple but heartwarming country bumpkin character in this drama, and watching him and his gang bring down the creepy cult.
OCN’s next weekend thriller drama Rescue Me begins airing on August 5.

Reminds me of Hulu's The Path, which I really enjoy. Hopefully it can deliver a story interesting enough to deliver on the tone.

This reminds me of a Light-Novel series where mother of heroine becomes member of cult and heroine is almost raped.
It is a very popular series. I just won't name it here.

I was thinking the same thing. The Path is one of my favorite shows right now, and I'm really looking forward to seeing if this show can manage the topic convincingly and interestingly.

This feels dark even for OCN.
They gotta stop pretending Taec can still play a teenager though.

You can always count on OCN to deliver shivers down anyone's spine. I usually love watching OCN dramas because it amazes me how well the thriller aspect is portrayed in their dramas. I'm going to hope that this vibe stays with it the entire way ?

I'm just so excited about the subject matter they're choosing to explore and I really, really hope this doesn't let me down. I love 2PM but I haven't watched Taecyeon in any dramas so I hope he doesn't disappoint :(

I hope OCN make this drama with a good intention, coz the theme is very interesting. About a cult in a town. I mean, they should make it good, eventho the rating might be not that good ((like Duel who got promoted very often but the rating isnot that good and ocn just neglect the story)). Nope, I dont want Save me become like that, coz ocn must deliver the precious theme precisely.

How many ways can I express my excitement for this show? I'm pretty religious myself, I believe in God, the afterlife and everything but I'm also extremely fascinated with the concept of cults. I've always wondered what it is about them that draws people in, especially small town people, and how they cannot see that they are being led down a dangerous path. Like I said, I'm very religious but while I am, I am also not stupid. I take my time to pay attention to what someone is trying to tell me about my religion and if I think it's suspicious I do some research.

YAS. CHILLS. And the boys' accents, omg. I'm so ready for you, Show.
Excited to see more Seo Ye-ji since I've only watched her in two projects–Potato Star and Moorim School, which I'm currently watching atm. Heyo, @sicarius, where you at? This is yo' gurl's new show.
Choi Jin-hyuk and Ryu Joon-yeol lookalike now also looks like Seo Kang-joon here. What. Who ARE you??? Well, whoever you are, I'm ready to see you in action and I'm already liking what I'm seeing just based on the posters and teasers, alone, which is a good sign.

Oh heyyy! Yes I found all the teasers this morning, as you suggested.
I don't know if I will watch it yet, but if I do it will be for Ye Ji. So far her role looks good!

I'm a big fan of OCN thriller dramas! And I can't wait for this drama though I'm a bit sad that next week will be the last week I could see Yang Se-jong's superb performance in Duel. This drama sounds so dark and so intriguing, which kinda make me excited to watch this. Please be good, show!

I'm wondering if it's going to be too entertaining. As in, should I marathon it later so I am not caught up in that desperate wait for new episodes?

I have a somewhat morbid fascination with cults, so I'm so looking forward to this. I'm skeptical about Taec's acting, though... I'll believe it when I see it, I guess.

I've watched Jo Sung-ha play a variety of baddies and villains before but he looks downright creepy in this, giving off that unsettling vibe.
