Lee Jung-shin, Lee Yeol-eum headline fantasy romance Longing Heart

Lee Jung-shin, Lee Yeol-eum, Seo Ji-hoon

Mystery fantasy romance Longing Heart has secured its three main leads: Lee Jung-shin (My Sassy Girl) is set to play a man who can’t forget his first love from ten years ago, while Lee Yeol-eum (Monster) plays that first love. And playing the rival is Seo Ji-hoon (School 2017)… who is the hero’s own self from ten years ago.

Lee Jung-shin’s character, Kang Shin-woo, somehow goes back in time to his high school days when he met her, and is given the chance to redo history and set himself up with the girl of his dreams. The only problem is his younger self, who seems to be conniving to thwart him at every turn. Talk about being your own worst enemy.

Shin-woo returns to his high school in the past as a math teacher, where the object of his affections is the model high school student who has both brains and beauty. Although she appears to be bright and perfect on the outside, she’s hiding an inner pain from childhood. She’ll be caught in a love triangle between the older, mature teacher Shin-woo and the gruff awkward schoolboy Shin-woo.

The plot sounds really cute, and specially with such a young rookie cast, I’m sure it’ll have that youthful energetic feel that’s always good to see. Seo Ji-hoon received much praise for his performance in Solomon’s Perjury, and Lee Yeol-eum was lauded similarly for her work in Village: Secret of Achiara, but those were both darker mysteries, so it’ll be interesting to see their chemistry in this brighter rom-com-y drama.

Longing Heart will begin filming at the end of August, and it’s slated to air on SBS Plus by December this year.

Well this sounds interesting, but I wonder if the female lead will realize eventually that both of them are the same person. And if she does, it must be shocking to know that you're confused between two persons but it turns out to be the same person. It must be creepy at some point too. I'm gonna give this drama a chance since it's rom-com. ?

Okay, first the actors are about the same age, so please, do some cool acting to at least look like the 10 year difference.
Second, please she can't have romantic scenes with the teacher, do not make him retrubuate the feelings. Because for me one of the most wrong things in life is when a teacher has an affair with the student, it's simply wrong. I think I will need to check to see If it's not what i think. Please, do'nt be what i'm thinking.

It's probably going to be what you are thinking. From what I read, he goes back in time to win her over. I don't think this drama will be for you if you dislike that 'trope'.

I guess the problem is not him comeback, you know, the problem is that he will be her teacher. I like the plot of Manhole for example.
The reason why I need to watch is because apparently he will influence himelf younger to conquer the girl, but from what I understand the girl will fall in love with him, but it will be the teacher version? I just don't wanna the teach encourage the girl in his adult version.

I'm judging hastily, that's why I need to watch it first...

I guess, this would be the first drama where BOTH leads get the girl without any of them dying.

Oo perhaps that is what inspired the writer! 'A novel idea! How can I ensure that both leads get the girl!'

Wouldn't the older versions goal be to set her up with his younger self? How would having a relationship with the older version fix things in the present? It sounds cute but the plot isn't jiving with me. I'll definitely give it a go though. Maybe the drama will have an interesting explanation.

Was thinking the same thing so I went looking up their ages. Five years apart. At least they're halfway there.

I usually feel that way, that's why I haven't seen stuff like High School King of Savvy and Doctors. I think I'll give this a go just to see how the oppa romance--opposite of noona romance right?--trope works.

I hope Seo Ji Hoon's gives us another type of high schooler before he 'leaves highschool do good'!!! I loved him as,

1. Serious (Solomon's Perjury).
2. Airhead and bully (Legendary Shuttle).
3. Deep thinker (School 2017).

Seo Ji-hoon plays a meeky guy in the web drama "Matching! Boys Archery" alongside Baek Chul-min, another Solomon Perjury actor (who played the bully Choi Woo-hyuk)! I have not seen it yet but there were lots of cute scenes between Baek Chul-min's character who is like the gruffy male lead to Seo Ji-hoon's "heroine" hehe.

I only got through the first episode of Signal, but that was mostly Lee Jehoon's acting I couldn't get past. Still love Seo Jihoon and Lee Jehoon though, but I don't think I will ever watch signal to the end, no matter how good...sorry!!!

But thanks for bringing that up and denigrating the show. So now that's a complete write off...Signal that is.

Am I the only one who found it interesting that Lee Jung Shin's character name is Kang Shin Woo, which is also Jung Yong Hwa's character name in 'You are beautiful'?! Or was that intentional?

So many School 2017 actors are already bagging their next projects, it makes me incredibly happy :') The thing about a project like that (School) is even if it doesn't bust the ratings roof, it's a great place that pools bright young acting talents, and a springboard to their careers.

Seo Jihoon is quite the acting chameleon, and he's really good at expressing through his eyes, so I can picture him in that awkward gruff role already. I've only seen Lee Yeol-eum in High School King of Savvy, and she wasn't too bad there, but her character was quite straightforward so it didn't leave a deep impression.

The story, while fairly familiar, could still be very charming if executed well, so fingers crossed for the cast!
