Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching

It’s been an amazingly full week for me, mostly because I’ve been hit with the disease where I have been finding everything interesting. Nothing has fallen off the watchlist yet, but time will tell if I can keep up this pace (I’d bet on no), and which shows will have to be put on the back-burner. For now, though, I’m reveling like a glutton. A glutton with a stomachache and dark circles from all the drama gorging. No regrets! –javabeans

The Best Hit: There’s nothing variety about it, but I do find it very funny—and also a little sobering to realize that I lived through all the ’90s references that, in the context of this show, seem so ancient. The first episode felt a little scattered, like skit after skit, but toward the end we started seeing how the characters fit into the same world, and I liked that much better. Yoon Shi-yoon was barely in the premiere, but I have a feeling he’s going to be awesome.

My Sassy Girl: It’s about what I expected: an in-your-face romantic comedy, with very little realism (did they have to make her a princess, which seems completely unbelievable, rather than a mere noblewoman?). This isn’t a sageuk so much as it’s a parodied version of history with all the modern jokes and intentional anachronisms, which can be either hilarious or hokey, depending on your take. (I’m half-half on that.) But while I wish the tone weren’t quite so juvenile, I did really like Joo-won in this, Oh Yeon-seo is playing her part to the hilt, and I foresee myself watching for the romance.

Circle: Omg this got so exciting! Every time I’m in one time period, I think I like it best, then we move to the other time period and I think that’s my favorite. It’s so rare to find a show that’s not just good, but so unpredictable and assured that I feel safe just diving in head-first and putting my full trust in the drama to deliver something awesome. Plus, every episode keeps upping the ante and throwing even better twists our way, and I’m just really happy to be watching this.

Fight My Way: Park Seo-joon is so good—all that disappointment and heart and hope! Sometimes I watch ordinary, serviceable actors and think that they’re good enough, they’re adequate, whatever—and then I watch emotionally genuine actors like Park Seo-joon (and Yeo Jin-gu) and wonder how I could ever be satisfied with lowered standards when good actors can bring so much more to the table. Kim Ji-won is great too, though it was Park who made me cry this week. I’d like to drop-kick that ex-girlfriend out of the show, though.

Suspicious Partner: I was SO loving Ji-wook’s struggle with his denial (it was played in such a nicely subtle way) that I almost am disappointed that he’ll have to move out of that zone of indecision, even as I applauded that he finally stepped it up. I feel such satisfaction when he does things for Bong-hee against his own intentions, as though his caring for her is uncontrollable, and I’ll miss that. But surely the progression of the romance will make up for that, right? *taps foot expectantly*

Lookout: When it’s in action mode, the pull is constant and fast-paced, and I really enjoy how fast things fly. The show lacks some subtlety on the good-versus-evil front, which makes the fight pretty black-and-white but at least also produces satisfying payoffs. Suji is badass, but so hotheaded that I facepalm regularly—but on the other hand, Kim Young-kwang is my favorite character because of his layers and duality, and I find his hidden agenda fascinating.

Ruler–Master of the Mask: My interest is starting to wane, and I keep wishing this drama were more exciting, more smoothly written, more even in quality all around. I find myself wishing Pyunsoohwe were a better villain, because while they are effective, they seem rather one-note. I have a feeling I’d perk right up if the show actually let the three leads be in the same scenes together, but they spend so much time frustratingly apart!

Father Is Strange: I died laughing at Joong-hee’s eagerness to explain away his interest in Mi-young as brotherly caring. It’s because she’s my sister that I want to buy her gifts and feed her and make her happy! Because this is what brothers do for sisters! With Oppa admitting that he feels usurped by Joong-hee’s arrival, I have hope that Dad will be prompted to admit the truth to the family soon(…ish?), and that he’ll realize that it’s the healthiest path for everyone.

Man to Man: This was the first time I actually felt some romantic connection between Seol-woo and Do-ha, and I thought it cute that they were going through this very elaborate and contrived “dating mission” to have an excuse to be together. And I did laugh at how our movie star is so fixated on his 5 million bucks and kept guilt-tripping Seol-woo about it. This show won’t ever make me feel emotions beyond a surface-level amusement (I still don’t really know what’s up with those wood carvings or why I should care), but it does still make me laugh.

My Secret Romance: Well, that was lame. They must have split the planned 12th episode into two (after being pre-empted a few weeks ago and needing an extra episode), and that resulted in a whole mess of filler flashbacks and empty scenes that dragged down an already dreary slog to the finale. Two weeks ago I thought this show was silly and cute. Then it nosedived with the stupid separation angst and overserious tone, and now I’m kind of annoyed that I watched it. I suppose I’ve seen worse.

odilettante

Super Family 2017: How can a sitcom be so sad? I’ve enjoyed Won-kyun as reliable comedic background fodder, but never really paid his character much attention until now. My heart first broke when he handed in his resignation letter, and then proceeded to break even further during the rest of the episode. At least Manager Choi continues to be the pillar that I — and everyone else — leans on. In happier news, I love that Mom has officially declared she has a boyfriend. She needs someone in her life that isn’t just there to raid her fridge!

Chicago Typewriter: I love that we’re finally figuring out what happened back in the 1930s, but I’m also suitably stressed about the cracks in my favorite ghost. I don’t know how its possible to have a happy ending for someone who is already dead — maybe once the whole story is told and we figure out how he died, he’ll be freed from his typewriter and finally be able to be reincarnated with a new chance at love and happiness. At any rate, I hope the finale lives up to my expectations, because I can’t wait to see how everything resolves itself — both in the present and in the past.

Fight My Way: What is this? An actual friends-to-lovers drama with actual chemistry and cuteness?? It’s subtle, but I love how the two characters have this underlying connection that makes them trust and confide in the other person no matter what. It’s this type of bond, stemming from their long-time camaraderie, that I think makes a great foundation for a permanent relationship. And surprisingly, I’m pulled in by the secondary romance as well. It may be too early to say, but perhaps Fight My Way could redeem Park Seo-joon in my eyes from the disappointment that was Hwarang.

SailorJumun

Seven Day Queen: Wow. Tragedy has never looked so appealing. The opening left such a strong impression that I’m pretty much on edge the entire time even though we just entered the happy stage. But how adorable is the happy stage? So, so adorable. I already love these characters and the way they’re being portrayed. I’m still amazed by how much the child actors resemble their adult counterparts.

My Sassy Girl: Well, this is certainly different! But like Queen, it has this charm that instantly pulled me in. It’s colorful and beautiful (I was practically drooling over those hanboks) and pretty darn ridiculous. They’re really going for it and despite some lingering doubts, I’m really into it so far. That slow motion vomiting scene? PFFT. I laughed way harder than I should’ve.

Fight My Way: What an awesome group of friends. I’d love to see all four together more often, but I do enjoy the individual couple moments. Dong-man and Ae-ra’s blossoming romance against Joo-man and Seol-hee’s withering(?) romance is turning out to be a very interesting juxtaposition. I just hope whatever happens romantically, the four will never stop being best buddies.

Suspicious Partner: OMG THAT KISS. I mean, yeah, all the other stuff too but THAT KISS.

Ruler — Master of the Mask: I’m gonna have to leave this one. For now, at least. I’ve got too much on my plate and this is the one show I don’t go scrambling for when an episode is released.

Signal: Am I the last person to have seen this? It took me forever but I did it, I watched it! *throws confetti* In fact, I didn’t stop watching until reaching the very last episode around 8 in the morning when I thought my eyeballs would fall out. Was worth it.

Tunnel: I fell behind on this and finally pushed through to the end, but it was a bit of a struggle. At times, the writing was flimsy, then other times, fresh and warm. The reveal of the main villain’s motivations felt lazy and dissatisfying. I’m sure in there is something poetic about the random cruelty of life and the tragic senselessness of it all, but instead it left me feeling hollow. Lee Yoo-young is outstanding, and that Sun-jae/Jung Ho-young fight scene was raw and powerful. Kudos to the actors.

Whisper: When I was watching the finale I kept imagining myself as a fictional member of the public in this world — someone watching the news and trying but failing to understand all the players’ convoluted relationships. It was headache-inducing, and perhaps only second to the headache I feel everyday reading the real news.

Lookout: Shi-wan is fun to hate, but his hypocritical father isn’t an equal replacement, so when they shift the focus to Dad, I kind of lose interest. I’m hoping that will all change when we get Do-han’s backstory, because so far I’m not feeling that delicious tension or suspense. The music gives this show its funky, urban vibe, but overall it feels unpolished.

Fight My Way: I never thought I’d say this but: why isn’t it Monday!? God, this show hurts so good. I’m so obsessed with this that I’ve pretty much been telling everyone I know (and some I don’t…) to tune in. The friendships are to die for, and Dong-man’s developing (instinctual?) love line with Ae-ra is everything. Let’s not kid ourselves though, they’re both nuts; but there’s something so perfect about their I’m-with-you-150%-even-if-it-kills-us-both relationship, that pulls me in and grabs me like a death grip in the best way. I’ll take two more servings please.

Circle: I really miss shows that have a distinct and bold sense of directorial and atmospheric style, which is often used to update a hackneyed genre (no hate, I love sci-fi). I thought this would be the one to satisfy that craving, but instead I’m left pretty disappointed with the look and feel. I’ll stick around for a few more episodes and maybe marathon it at the end, but I don’t feel any urgency to keep current with it.

Suspicious Partner: This show is enjoyable to watch. I think it does a good balance of rom-com and murder-mystery, and I like how the story keeps morphing as you go. We think it’s supposed to be about proving Bong-hee’s innocence, or Ji-wook’s fall from grace as a prosecutor, but now it’s about the moral complicity of defending (and letting go) the murderer they’re looking for, and how to catch him again. The fact that we have a lot of story to cover makes for great pacing and that’s always a good thing.

Fight My Way: I couldn’t make it past the first 15 minutes when I first checked out this drama, but I tried again a few days later and I’m so glad that I did. Park Seo-joon and Kim Ji-won anchor the story with their chemistry, but I love the extended cast as well. The writer has vividly portrayed that stage of life where youthful dreams clash with the reality of day to day life. I can’t help but root for everyone to get their happily ever after.

My Secret Romance: This show was my guilty pleasure every week, but I was disappointed with the ending. The final episode felt rushed, which was a shame, because I think the fans deserved better.

Mystery Queen: I was sooo on board with the housewife/amateur detective scenario in this drama and stuck with it, but that ending was so very strange. I think that our ahjumma and her partner in crime solving deserved more closure than that and I’m a little bitter.

Father is Strange: What I find really strange is that I haven’t lost interest in this drama at all. I like the idea of a 50 episode family drama, but I usually take a break at some point and then jump back in 10-15 episodes later. That’s not the case here. The pacing of the story has been fast enough that I haven’t felt the need to shelve it and I have watched every episode. As the drama passes its halfway point, there’s lots to resolve in the episodes that are left and I’m looking forward to every single one.

tipsymocha

Chicago Typewriter: Well, things certainly came to a head this week. I loved that Seol moved in with the boys and their cohabitation hijinks, but all the happy scenes felt like the calm before the storm in both timelines. I’ve always felt my investment in the show was disproportionately with the 1930’s story, but the present half can’t really compete with the life-and-death stakes involved, the unfulfilled romance, and the heartbreaking camaraderie between the freedom fighters. I get chills every time they talk about their country’s as-yet-unrealized liberation and when they show the human-level sacrifice they all gladly accepted for their cause. At its best, this show feels like an ode to those young independence fighters, and that’s what’s going to stay with me long after it ends.

Circle: AAHHH. This show is amazing. I love the memory theme linking our main players together, and I’m surprised that they revealed the identities of our resident alien and amnesiac detective so early on. I’m also intrigued that the baddies in our show could very well be humans doing what they think is right, because there ain’t nothing as scary as determined, smart people acting on good intentions. I just hope that the show can keep up this fast pace to the end, since all we’re going to get is 12 measly episodes.

Suspicious Partner: I finally managed to find the time to catch up on this show, and I ended up bingeing the three weeks’ worth of episodes in one night. Ji Chang-wook is just as swoony as I remember him, Nam Ji-hyun is an adorable ball of puppy energy, and I love the underdog team of lawyers and their bickering, fun dynamic. Also, I’m all for both of our main leads making their way out of the land of denial, but it’s so much fun watching Ji Chang-wook try sooo hard to hold back his budding feelings that I’m happy for this situation to continue for a few more episodes. Delayed gratification is the answer, people!

Lookout: I’ve gotta give kudos to Lee Shi-young, she really sold the grief as a bereaved mother in the first week’s episodes. Yeah, her character went a little off her rocker, but I was totally with her and I wanted to punch that high school sociopath’s smug grin right off his face. I can’t wait until our Lookout team assembles and starts doling out some vigilante justice. Also, I think I’m going crazy because I might like Kim Young-kwang in this, fake smarm and all. It might be his hair though; it reminds me of grass heads I had as a kid.

Currently in a drama slump and looking forward to Lee Jong Suk and Nam Joo Hyuk dramas to start.
Now I only watch Chicago Typewriter, which gives me contradictory feelings, because I really love it, but I don't like sad endings, and I see the end of this one is going to be a cry fest. I have been suffering along for our poor ghost, and I want him to leave happy to wherever he is headed to.

Chicago Typewriter: I was slogging my way through this, but it had enough pull to keep me curious and coming back for more, and now... it might have to go on my Top 10! Ugh the last few weeks have been amazingly good and well executed.... the writing is so good, the acting and directing is superb, and the story is unique. This show has so much heart, and I just love our trio!

Fight My Way: This is better than I hoped it would be, and I had high hopes! Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won are portraying their roles perfectly, and I LOVE their friendship! PSJ is sooo cute as a jealous puppy!

Suspicious Partner: Ji Chang Wook and Nam Ji Hyun is LOVE. The plot feels a little draggy to be honest - they can definitely tighten it up and get the pace moving a lot more.. sometimes it feels like not much happens each week, but I love all the characters - Chief Bang kills me with his little expressions and comments, Eun Hyuk is like a puppy I want to protect, and CEO Byun is a hoot. I even like the villains because they so layered and I'm curious about the backstory.

Tunnel: Just started this one with my husband and now that it's finished I'm so happy we can marathon it. On episode 6, and dying to watch more!

I went from not wanting to watch anyyythinga month ago, to having more than I can handle on my plate! I need to get to Circle too, the sci-fi-ness of it all is just right up my alley!

"Suspicious Partner" is my absolute crack show right now. Everything hit's my sweet spot. I saw Nam Ji-hyun before in SKL, which I loved, so I was looking forward to this. Combined with the writer from "I remember you" and being a romantic comedy, I simply had to at least check it out.

Just before this started I watched Healer, to have a feel about Ji Chan-wook. I liked it, but it didn't grab me. But with this, I will definitely make sure to follow his projects in the future. But damn, this is his last drama before enlisting.

Nam Ji-hyun definitely knows how to send her leading men off to military. First Seo In Guk and now Ji Chan-wook.

Anyone else having flashbacks to Seo In Guks dramas? Because here are a lot of people with whom he worked in his last dramas.

I try almost every drama that premieres, but Defendant is the only one I've finished in over six months, I think. I'm hoping that will change with Fight My Way. I love it so far, and I so hope it doesn't go off the rails because it gives me so many feels.

Father is Strange: I finally caught up, and I'll definitely finish this one. I like weekend dramas, but none have fully engaged me in a long time.

I haven't had a chance to try Circle yet, but I'm a sci-fi lover, so I'll definitely given it a try.

Watched so many dramas this week since it's the off peak season for me. Chicago typewriter wins hands down. I bawled so badly. It is way better than all my favourite hits from tvN. Great storyline and OST.

The liar and his lover: enjoyable. I marathoned it. I like the lead actor. I must go and read the recaps. Not sure how it became so popular with beanies though.

Suspicious Partner: enjoyable too.

Third rate my way or fight my way: ok, but so so. Think I want to learn how to do flying turning kicks. Probably will get my sons who are learning Taekwondo to learn it someday. Their teacher just put up a video doing something similar.

99.9 Japanese show. It's about how the conviction rate is that high in Japan, but the defence lawyers try to find the loopholes to save the really innocent ones. Quite interesting.

Radiant office: late to the game, but it's quite nice. Marathoning it too.

Dang, Japan's conviction rate is actually that high?! Wow. Makes you wonder how fair trials are in some systems. I believe it's quite high in the US too, but not that high.

That also shows that the prosecutors only proceed if they have very strong cases. That means there may be a lot of cases that don't go to trial if they don't solve them.

Ah I really loved 99,9% and it's not only because I love the main actor *cough*.

I wonder why the prosecutors are alway the bad guys though, it seems a bit unfair since a good friend of mine is a prosecutor lol. Maybe Noh Ji Wook will turn out to be a good prosecutor (and go back to be one in the end).

FATHER IS STRANGE: I hope Dad tells the truth ASAP. It would be so much painful for JH if he finds out later what really happened. Plus, I'm not a fan of fauxcest, even if I know they are not real half siblings.

FIGHT MY WAY: Love AR & DM and how they got each other's back. They may have other BFFs aside from each other but the 2 of them just click together. Maybe because of underlying attraction or maybe they just care about each other that much even as friends (at least for now)

MY SECRET ROMANCE: skipped Ep 11-12, watched a few minutes of Ep 13, just to satisfy my curiosity.

CIRCLE: Keeps getting better. I'm still surprised by the revelations these week, but I end up having more questions. Started watching this cause of GK, ended up being totally into it. I hope the drama keeps it up until the end. Please don't fail me Circle!

RULER-MASTER OF THE MASK: I hope Fake King will have more motivation to fight off DM and not just because of GE. Fake King is not only at the mercy of DM's hands, but he's in the middle of DM's and QD's power struggles. How long can HG keep on threading that line between her family and the man she loves? Who is keeping tabs on CP through the Gisaeng? I love Kko Mool's matchmaking!

SUSPICIOUS PARTNERS: got more interested on HS & CH's relationship and motivations. EH still keeps tugging my heart. Now I just don't want to push JW & EH bromance, I'm also looking forward to EH's and BH's friendship. Girl's gonna need a wingman.

THE BEST HIT: liked it but there's something missing for some reason. I'll give it a chance for a few more episodes. Drama, I so want to love you, you got CTH & YSY.

PS: SP's Yoojung & FMY's Hyeran seems to compete at most annoying ex-girlfriend making a comeback...

I think I am affected with the same disease as you, JB. I am hanging onto all the dramas I started except for ruler. So, that's lookout, fight my way, suspicious partner and seven day queen. I want to watch circle, but I am thinking of marathoning it. Also, ever since I heard your podcast, I want to check out father is strange. I have not watched weekend shows before. But I feel like i need to watch this one. LEt's see.

Also, I am scared to even check out best hit and duel in the fear That if like them, I ll have more dramas to watch. So, withholding myself.

I like fight my way but except park seo joon I dont like the other two male leads. I got so angry when joo man got that dress for sul hee, it was not for her to feel better but for him to feel better. It felt like he was ashamed of her and that got me so mad. And the other guy being all territorial about ae ra. Also, I would like it if the drama focused on all of them together as friends, instead of making them into couples. I want them to be couples too, but I also want to see the friendship. But of the four, joo man is the only person I don't like, so I am hoping the drama does something to make like him.

Suspicious partner is love and seven day queen is also getting there for me. Lookout is not as grippy as I want it to be, but I still like it.

I am not really a melo drama fan . I rarely watch dramas with terminal illness or nonsense sad endings and avoid them like hot potatoes.

But, now I am in melo crisis unintentionally.
Currently watching 'Chicago typewriter ' and still crying over epi 15.
A while ago,I watched "Downton abbey " .After witnessing the death of my two favorite characters , I tried some movies and dramas in order to forget about it.
Then, I found this new crush " Chicago typewriter " and this happened.

And worse , I am somehow addicted to this new show " Seven days queen " which will have a sad ending.

I think that they ended the drama in a rush due to many pre-emption the drama is having so that's why it felt weird to me. But I'm just glad that in the end, Se Na and Ji Sang are together, because I've loved them since they bicker the first time and I love Se Na's honesty. She always complains, but in the end she loves her family with her whole heart

And yes, I think that's what makes me love Golden Pocket so much. The heartwarming family moment that touched me in the heart. I said this because I was watching four different daily dramas at the same time (Golden Pocket which is good, Shining Eun-soo/Still Loving You which is a bit of meh, I'm Sorry Kang Nam Goo which is soooooo makjang, and Person Who Gives Happiness that's too full with tears and sadness) and it's Golden Pocket that I waited everyday for the new episodes to air. I guess I fell in love with the drama in a whole :)

It's a rare experience for me to be watching AND loving more than one drama at a time, but here we are. Lol.

FIGHT MY WAY - This drama hurts me and heals me. Park Seo-joon and Kim Ji-won are knocking it out of the park as bickering best friends who are becoming increasingly attracted to each other. The conflicts hit so close to home to me as a millenial, and sometimes the show is painful to watch. But their triumphs, no matter how small the scale, make me glow with pride for my babies.

CIRCLE - The plot drives me crazy in the best possible way. I have to keep my eyes wide open all the while lest I miss any important clue. The characters are emotionally engaging and the acting is on point. So far, it's as close to perfect as a k-drama can be. Thank you fir existing, show.

SEVEN DAY QUEEN - This drama evokes memories of my all-time favorite, Moonlight Drawn by Clouds, in the best possible ways. There is sweetness, emotional connection, and a sense of growing intimacy. It's a gorgeous, gorgeous show, and it's a meaty one too. Lee Dong-gun carried the first two episodes, giving a magnetic performance as Yeonsangun, but the teen actors more than held their own. They made me root for Yeok and Chae-kyung as individuals and as an OTP, and I despair thinking of their inevitable doom. I hope more people watch this because it's really a gem of a sageuk.

I've tried watching BEST HIT but it's a chore to get through the first episode. Things livened up when Yoon Shi-yoo re-appeared in 2017, but I've just lost all interest in the show. Maybe if reviews improve.

I'm going to try DUEL. OCN has been the most reliable broadcaster at putting out quality content so far. I hope it delivers.

Danggg, long lists from almost everybody! O: I’m still drowning in shows and slowly catching up. Excited for OCN’s Duel premiere today~!! :D

My must-watch of the week is Fight My Way. Just loving the main leads. ^^ PSJ+KJW are nailing their roles~!! I also like the secondary couple & want to know more about them. ^^ And Chicago Typewriter is a must-watch! But I haven't watched EP 15 yet (will do later today lol).

Circle is good. Very fascinating and leaves me full of questions, but not my crack drama like FMW.

Still need to watch The Best Hit, but kinda bummed to hear that it didn’t turn out to be much different from a standard drama format.

Watched Man to Man EP 10 yesterday night. Kinda meh about it. The romantic scenes and the NIS dilemma didn't capture me. It was a delight seeing Nam Goong Min for his cameo though. :)

And then last month happened. I am now watching all Monday/Tuesday and Wednesday/Thursday dramas: Circle, Fight My Way, Best Hit, My Sassy Girl, Suspicious Partner, Ruler, and Lookout! FML sleep is for the weak! *laughs hysterically*

Suspicious Partner: It's been a while since I have watched a romantic comedy, since of late I have been addicted to cop shows. Something I never though I would say because I used to avoid them just I do with medical dramas. The chemistry between the actors and the humor is what sold this show to me since episode 1 and even though I am one episode behind I am not concerned that I will get behind because I know that once I start watching the latest episode I will watch it till the end.

Circle: This show is my crack right now I truly didn't know what to expect because it was the type of premise that it could go very wrong if it wasn't executed properly but I am glad to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I am truly enjoying week after week and I find myself impatiently waiting for the next episodes.

Seven Day Queen: I am relatively bad at sticking with historical dramas since most of them tend to be too political and while they can be interesting they can also become boring. But I have found myself invested in this story, even though I know that politics will become more involved eventually, I am invested in the story of our leads and the brothers. I have to attribute it to that heck of an introduction in episode 1, how did they end up in that situation and why was she supposed to kill him before? I guess we will find out.

Fight my way: I started watching this show about two days ago because I needed something to get me through the week as I waited for Duel and all the other shows I am watching and even though I am just in episode 2 this show has already been added to my current watch list. Who needs sleep right?

I marathoned Oh my venus as well.... like a year ago, maybe... and I loved it, except the separation, yes....
and I liked very much, particularly, the health approach of the show... She was overweight because of the hipothyroidism, which makes totally sense, and it is a very common problem, and it can be cured with proper diet and exercise and good sleep and correct body posture. I suffer from hypothyroidism myself, although I am not overweight... but I anyways, I learned a couple of things with this show and I really enjoyed it. I could watch it again and again, because it is cute and fun.

On Mondays and Tuesdays Circle remains my crack drama - the one I'm on pins and needles to watch; and once the episode is over, I'm itching for time to fly so I can watch the next episodes. That's not to say I don't love the other Monday offerings: I absolutely adore Fight My Way, there's something so endearing about the whole cast; Lookout remains highly interesting- with a kickass badass heroine. However, I feel everything moves so fast that I can barely absorb it all. I'm not crazy about My Sassy Girl, I'm actually considering dropping it.

Suspicious Partner is my mid-week darling. Ruler remains tolerable, but only barely so, it's become disappointing - I'm only watching it because of my love for YSH. But 7 Day Queen looks interesting, I just don't know if I have the stomach to fall in love with the heroine, only to watch her die later. For the weekend, I'm looking forward to Duel as Chicago Typewriter has finished its run. And I'm still fully hooked on Father Is Strange - loving the chemistry between Lee Joon and Jung So Min; loving Lee Yuri (she is gold) and the rest of the cast.

Finished CT - I loved the show. My favorite watch this week was Circle, Chicago Typewriter, and Fight my way.
Fight My Way: So fun to see leads' bickering but loyal friendship?
Lookout: Lee Se-young is great in action scenes. And really, KYK is the leader?
My Sassy Girl: "I wish the tone weren’t quite so juvenile"- this.
My Secret Romance: Meh. Glad it is finished.
Circle: Wow such engaging episodes

Seven Day Queen:I like spunky female lead (for now)
Ruler–Master of the Mask: It is ok, but lacking something to be another "MoonSun"
Suspicious Partner: Ji Chang-wook is eye candy, but story is a bit slow.

Father Is Strange: Fun. Like actor An/Lee Joon's story.
Man to Man: I like Seol-woo's development. And didn't Beanie guess about mrs.ghost agent?
Duel: Acting is good. Girl's shaved head and Kim Jung-eun reminded me of KJE's debut? drama (sunflower).
Chicago Typewriter: So sad, so good. great music. And ENDING!!

Too many dramas and too little time. sigh.

My Sassy Girl: This is going to be my new crack drama. I just know it. I love the two main leads and I can't wait for more.

My Secret Romance: It's good, but I hate the epilogue at the end of each episodes.

My Secret Romance was truly lame - on a same par, but actually worse, than last year's Cinderella and the Four Knights. I was truly annoyed at myself for sticking with Secret Romance all the way to the end. Why??? Everything else is so good right now !!!! No drama holes for me this week!

My first ranked shows (because I watch mainly for rom-coms and love it when it's done right):
Fight My Way
Suspicious Partner

Second-rank (not rom-com but really well done, I'm intrigued)
Seven Day Queen
Circle

Still watching (hasn't grabbed me yet):
My Sassy Girl
Lookout

Dropped:
Ruler: Master of the Mask
Man to Man

Chinese Shows Ongoing That I Enjoy, Worth a Look
Fox Fall In Love (the main actress is a joy)
Fighter of the Destiny
Ode to Joy 2 (just started)

My Secret Romance: Yeah, it was one big cliche but still serviceable until the last 3 episodes. Just bad. What were they thinking.

Suspicious Partner: I like the romance and the office stuff but not the serial killer aspect. It's solid without being great.

Fight My Way: Probably my favorite right now. Definitely one of the best of the friends to romance at least so far.

Chicago Typewriter: On hold.

Ode to Joy 2: The writers must want us to hate all these characters. I get flawed but not infantile. I might give it a go again if commenters get more enthusiastic but right now....I'm out.

I'm waiting for Man to Man to end up on Netflix and that will be my next drama to jump into.

I haven't been able to watch any dramas this week because finals are coming up. And there are so many new shows I haven't been able to get to. Chicago typewriter ended this week. Maybe I should try to squeeze it into my schedule despite finals coming up. Looking forward to starting Fight for my Way & Circle. Maybe Lookout & My Sassy Girl as well although I'm not usually into action or sageuks.

With Circle and Lookout on my Monday-Tuesday plate, I have to admit that I drop Fight My Way. But I'll come back to it when dramaland isnt so overwhelming.

Ahhh. This season is shaping up well! Or at the very least, it has brought me back to watching while the dramas are currently showing.

Loving Fight My Way - the friends to lovers and even the longtime lovers are so believable! I am rooting for everyone to succeed and find happiness as if they're my actual friends. I can relate a lot with that feeling at mid20s of being frustrated in not being there yet.

The Best Hit - I am watching for my love of CTH and YSY. I didn't watch the producers or the after the show so I don't have variety-drama expectations. So far, I'm hooked. In fact, heading to watch subbed 3&4 as soon as I'm done with this comment. ;)

@teriyaki I don't know why but I'm only realizing your avatar is my fave PSH and LJS drama, can't wait for your staffer spotlight to find out why you chose it

I am only watching fight my way, suspicious partner and chicago... I really liked them all. But I feel more related with fight my way. I suppose I am also living a third rate life... ?.
Looking for a job, let's see if I find something at least similar with what I studied.

Watching Fight My Way and it's so adorable! I am planning to start watching Seven Day Queen, The Big Hit and My Sassy Girl. I think I might drop Ruler:Master of the Mask because I find the other ones more interesting.

Too many dramas to watch! They all seem interesting...
For now, I enjoy Fight My Way, Suspicious Partner, Ruler and Chicago Typewriter. However, I lost a bit interest in Man to Man, I'm not sure why..
I've checked the beginning of The Best Hit, it seems funny.
I will marathon Circle when it will be over. I will take a look at Sassy Girl, especially for Joo Won <3
Can someone tell me how are Lookout, Seven Days Queen and Duel? They're also appealing me....

Re: Javabean's comments about Yeo Jin-Gu...I'll have to give him another try. I only saw him in the episodes I watched of Orange Marmalade, and his character seemed so dopey that I had trouble envisioning him in a more serious role.

He is actually at his best when doing serious roles, like in Giant and Hwayi (especially in Hwayi). You could check out the trailer to see some bits of his acting in that movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlQ5I4jUtlg

Haven't you watched The Moon embracing the Sun? The child actors of that drama are what got me hooked on kdrama in the first place, I have no words to describe the cuteness and incredible acting. If you like romance and Saeguk then you should try it.

Movie-wise you could try Hwayi or Shoot me in the Heart, they are both very good, Hwayi has a darker theme and Shoot me in the Heart is sad but funny too.

Sadly his works haven't been especially good lately, I blame it on the script and late puberty = =

I have yet to watch TMETS because it seems such a heavy undertaking, though I have been considering it for a while, also partially to see YJG in it!

Tbh I kept rewatching the first 5 or so episodes for the children. I can't remember having seen such pure love and romance on screen ever before. With them all having been young children but not too young, it's believable that emotions are starting to bud but nothing at all sexual is involved. It was just about two children who liked each other and each decided for him/herself that they would like to hold their little hands together forever and ever. It's so cute!

Chicago Typewriter- underrated kdrama as man to man is sooo overrated (sorry man to man fans). It just feels like CT doesn't get the love and support it deserves. Story wise/plotwise it is way better than any kdrama i've seen this year (excluding Tunnel).
Ruler: Master of the Mask - this drama could have been a great drama if it were given to a better writer/director. At times i don't even know who the heroine is supposed to be. So many scenes were of the Crown Prince and Hwa Goon that i started shipping them instead of the OTP. KSH is such a wasted talent here (pity). I hate to like Hwa Goon's character but i do. If this is their way of giving us strong second lead syndrome i guess they're succeding. As of now, my favorite character is Hwa Goon.
Suspicious Partner - Need i say more?
Father is Strange
Fight My Way
My Sassy Girl
Lookout
Man to Man- seriously i don't know why i still havent dropped this show.

Circle: This is the show I've been most looking forward to but also fearing to watch the most, because I love YJG but feel that he's been playing to many distraught and unhappy roles lately that it's getting a bit boring. In the beginning I felt dissapointed because mind/psyche-control with modern technology in a future world to ensure peace and reduce criminality? That theme is really old as age and I felt like I got my fill already with the anime Psycho Pass not all that long ago. But things are starting to get intruiging and unpredictable so I got my hopes up again that it will be interesting after all.

Suspicious Partners: This one is ok, I'm watching it for JCW because K2 really got me hooked. At first it just seemed like another romance with a heroine who's loud and energetic but can't seem to get herself together and a guy who's intelligent and cold on the outside but caring on the inside, now who's seen that before? But I'm also interested in this one because I loved I Remember You and the mystery part better be good from now on, I'm pretty optimistic about it (?)

Fight for my Way: I went into this show without any expectations, maybe that's why I felt my expectations exceeded. The dynamics between the friends is superb and the characters loveable, I find this one very funny and cute. To think about it though, if this was real life I don't see any of them really getting anywhere, fight or no...

Ruler: Master of the Mask: This one is really mediocre. The actors are pretty and all, but the characters are really really one dimensional and I feel like nothing much is happening, keep waiting for more action. Oh well, still watching it for the pretty.

The Best Hit: The first episode seemed funny and cute, then the main character (?) showed up and turned out to be an egoistic and narcistic jerk. He better change soon and repent his ways or I'll stop watching this show.

Seven Day Queen: How can a noble little girl in Joseon times be so uncouth and rude? She really turned my stomach. Dropped this.

I wish I could have so many shows to watch that I'll have 1-2 episodes everyday, but of those shows I'm watching most are concentrated on 4 days of the week which is a kind of a pity....

"My Secret Romance: Well, that was lame. I suppose I’ve seen worse."

This is EXACTLY how I felt about the drama. It started out cute but then the annoying break-up had me stop watching. Finally forced myself to watch the last 3-4 episodes. While I was watching I was Skyping my best friend telling him 'here is another flashback, in case we all forgot', 'oh look, more sad looks' and 'oh more flashbacks of the flashbacks'. It's like they ran out of story and just filled it all in with flashbacks. And what was with the 5-10 min. epilogues every episode that was literally just the same scenes from a different angle?
