Rock the vote with Suspicious Partner

The production team behind Suspicious Partner is really putting some effort into their teasers for this drama, which I love. Continuing with the election theme, the latest teaser videos feature a runoff election between the Suspicious Party and the Partner Party.
In the first teaser, Ji Chang-wook (The K2) runs for the Suspicious Party, looking every bit the polished politician as he points grandly at the sky and the caption reads, “This is my first romantic comedy as an actor, I will make it the best romantic comedy of my life.”
Next up is Nam Ji-hyun (Shopping King Louis), running for the Partner Party, looking determined in a traditional black and white “people’s” hanbok as she raises a fist in the air. The caption reads, “Amazingly suspicious and insanely lovable.”
In the second set of teasers, Ji Chang-wook stands stoically for a moment before turning on the charm with a thumbs-up and wide grin. The caption reads “Look at my eyes, in unity, we stand together.” Nam Ji-hyun is up next, this time dressed in modern clothes. She starts out sitting stiffly, but then switches to a carefree attitude and flips her hair jauntily. Her caption reads, “No more genre dramas, now I’m making a heart-racing rom-com.”
Each teaser ends with the phrase: “May 9 is for the presidential election, May 10 is for Suspicious Partner.” The Suspicious Partner production team said they planned the teasers as an idea to raise awareness about voting day for the presidential election, which is a hot topic in Korea right now, as well as for their drama. In addition, they have other promotional events planned both online and offline and they ask for the fans’ participation. Personally, I love how they keep reminding us how important we are in the success of the drama, just like how politicians are always telling us how much they need our vote.
SBS’s Wednesday-Thursday drama Suspicious Partner will start its run on May 10 (the day after the election), following the end of Saimdang, Light’s Diary.

These teasers bring a cute sense of what they are trying to do in the show. I hope the show is as great as I hope to be. I just have to see more...MORE!!! Hoping for more trailers later in the coming days or weeks. MAY 10TH! WHERE ARE YOU!!????

It might be the only thing I have yet to see in a drama (as a regular plot-device that is, not as a one-time thing).

If you are interested in meta you must watch W (Lee Jong-Suk). It is probably the most meta show I've seen. I could go on about it for hours. My alternate title for this is "Who Controls the Narrative"; free will, agency, fate, identity, a god (creator) afraid of his creation, art controlling the artist, fan pressure on creators. Really close to brilliant.

W's first half is incredible. I got super excited at all the writing meta.
The second half kinda... loses the strength the first half had though. :/

Thanks for the rec! I've already seen it :) Had completely forgotten about it though lol. I wasn't exactly the biggest fan, as it didn't really feel original when you've read/seen lots of sci-fi. It felt kind of flat for me. But you're right, definitely lots of meta there, in a way.

I have noticed you don't get notifications to actual post comments. Just fan wall threads... which is weird. Probably on their massive To Do List.
I think I just really liked the first half of W because I hadn't seen that done well on screen in a drama before.
Of course, there are far more extraordinary ideas I've read in Sci Fi but I haven't seen many translated to screen that I like. (I've yet to see Interstellar... I know I'm two years late shush)

There are a lot of movies with the same concept as W. Lol I haven't seen Interstellar yet either. It's. Just. So. Long.
It's on my list though. Guess movies just moved way down my todo list once I started watching dramas :P

I'm totally on board for this kind of get out the vote. Drama-wise, I'm looking forward to seeing JCW play a different role than Healer and K2. That being said, a good chunk of my dramaland heart is dedicated to Healer-ya.

Omg Nam Ji-hyun looks SO mature in the second teaser. Like, she looks old enough to be a real politician. It's amazing how different she can look depending on how she is styled. So looking forward to this drama! Everything seems fun and cheeky so far.

I thought the exact same thing when I saw her. It's a relief, because I was afraid she would look like a little girl next to Ji Chang Wook. While I don't mind the age gap, I prefer not seeing someone looking underage being paired with a person that looks like an adult. *looks pointedly at Mirror of the Witch*

I like it but.... Riding on the current political issues to promote the drama sounds like they don't have much imagination or that the plot is kinda lacking? I hope I'm wrong. ^^ Those leads deserve a good plot for a good rom-com :)

They just start shooting so I dont think they have many scenes to make teaser yet.
And Park Bo Gum teaser had nothing to do with the drama but it still turned out well.
The teaser is bringing awareness than promoting the content.

Korean entertainment production companies always have BMI, ASCAP, and/or KOMCA (Korean Music Copyright Association) usage licenses in place before embedding any music into their dramas. If the music used is covered by any of those catalogues (or in public domain), then the production is in the clear.

Also I'm pretty sure it's prefectly fine to use only smaller bits of a song, right? At least that's what I've been told from streamers who uses a bit of a song for their pop-ups in streams. But maybe this only applies for a few second + not in Asia.

It's actually the 20th Century Fox fanfare music. Star Wars just developed it into their own opening theme, legally ofc. (I thought Fox just owned the rights to the music cos they bought Lucas Films, but apparently their fanfare was around before Star Wars...)

To clarify, the Star Wars theme was composed in the same key as the 20th Century Fox fanfare music. It was meant to be an extension of the fanfare, as the fanfare plays at the beginning before the film actually starts.

I really like Nam Ji Hyun's styling for this drama (hopefully it's not just for the teasers)! I wasn't a fan of her country bumpkin character in What's with My Family and in King Louie. She looks really good here and I'm happy she gets to play a different type of character this time.

---- Fighting Ji Chang-wook. Healer is still my ultimate JCW drama, the plot, the production and chemistry is awesome but I really wanna see him in romcom for a change.
