Thank you!

Now...who here agrees that Boys Over Flowers is the best DRAMA EVER? My reasoning? Well here goes for nothing...

1) It's a Cinderella story. Enough said.
2) Lee Min Ho's poodle hair suits him. Seriously, the guy should keep this perm forever. I don't know why he changed it.
3) Gu Hye Sun makes Makino's character (from original series) more lively. Her over-expressions are the best, do you agree?
4) because it's Boys Over Flowers, which doesn't sound gay at all.

Happy Friday folks!

err..no. Probably average, or top of the bottom 3 drama. Here the reasons why:

1) The male lead was a douche. Eventhough he repented later, still did not excuse him for what he and his group had done to other students.
2) The second male lead is just boring pretty flower boy as hell. Trying to be noble while being in the same big bullies group, the self centered I need some loves chaebols.
3) The fourth male lead have no development throughout the drama. He was like some side dish.
4) The only thing good about this story was the female as she stays true to herself and character, she remained as a strong headed and willed young girl in most parts of the series. Her noble idiocy was somewhat annoying though. But still, she charmed me enough.
5)Oh ya, the third male lead probably suited more as the main lead as he have the most character development among the F4. However, his loves interest somehow seemed bland to me.
Just my two cents :)

talks about BOF, the role Hanzawa Rui feels like a cold joke, almost every actor that play that role has very messy personal life that goes public, Kim Hyun Joong, Shun Oguri, Vic Zhou, like really messy .
while the one that plays Domyoji Tsukasa is still a superstar with barely any shocking scandal, Lee Min Ho, Matsu jun - Arashi still going so strong in the top, Jerry Yan.

Idk how this happen but it gets evidence through times that the contrast in the drama, real life, and that specific one drama they all acted is shocking to me.

disclaimer : you can correct me if I there's wrong information

I like him as an actor but, let's not talk about his private life,
*I hope DB can have this SPOILER thing
better googled for more clear information but there's tons of rumor about his married, affair, extramarital affair, he kinda a douche, some said he is Tiger woods of Japan (but I don't think he is at the level of Tiger woods)

one of person I better view from the screen and avoid the news about him,

ps : I am so sorry if I break anybody fantasy or perception, I really didn't mean that,

Now I love Boys Over Flowers. It was the drama that pushed me over the kdrama cliff and I have soft spot for it because of that. There are definitely some great moments in it, but when I talk about this drama with other people I use the Dramabeans rating system. How much did I enjoy this drama 10; How good do I think it is: 5. It's really not that great of a drama in my opinion. The thing that drives me the most crazy, is the editing. And that's saying a lot considering among other things the acting and the douchiness of the male. It was just so jumpy. Now that I understand the live shoot system I understand why it was awful, but still. However, even with all of it's flaws I like it :) :)

Uhhhhh...maybe the best Worst Kdrama of all time? I know holds a special place as the gateway drug for many of us addicts, but yeah, so bad. Oh god now I've got it stuck in my head, ahhhgh..... all together now: aaaaaallllmooost paaaaaradiiiiise......

For me the Soulmate couple were the best thing ever in BOF. ;)

And Gu Jun Pyo had the coolest noona.

All of the above! It drove me bonkers, yet I was also mesmerized by parts of it. In any case, it's a rite of passage for a true drama addict, so you may want to at least attempt it. Some find the experience particularly entertaining by watching it on Viki with the comments turned on. Good luck, lol!

0

Required fields are marked *

Yeah, I wonder if there will be another OT tomorrow, and if so, will it be #448, or #447 part 2 (since numbering it 448 would throw off the count in terms of the number of weeks that OT has been going)? I think this may have happened once before, years ago-- but my memory's fuzzy.

Ohhh, maybe we all have k-drama-induced dementia, and it really is Friday, but we just don't realize it. Or maybe we're having a collective vision of a future event, like DK in Oh Hye Young Again. Or perhaps we've entered an alternate reality, like in the upcoming drama W-- or maybe Heads#2's alter, Heads#1, decided it'd be fun to mess with us. Or Heads could be in Queensland (a place she clearly belongs) where it already is Friday...

In any case, I hope no one missed a meeting or class, etc because they convinced themselves that it must be Friday after seeing the OT!

Happy Thursday/Friday/whatever, everyone!

Hi Saema! How nice to see you again,... I hope you're doing well!

Thanks for your suggestion ... I have watched Oh Hae Young Again, but found parts of it a little OTT. I couldn't get into it as much as I usually can with shows, especially ones meant to be lighter and rom-coms. There was a certain dissonance in the tone, I felt, which puzzled me. However, I'll still keep watching, especially now since I see so many recommendations for it! Take care!

Lol, I freaked out. I have an exam today and when I woke up and saw this, I definitely had a moment of panic before my brain started working effectively.

Definitely agree with others that Oh Hae Young Again might be able to hold your attention! Although, maybe you've already tried it? It really steps it up with episode 4, if that's the case. The only problem is that I'm also really busy, but this drama has me thinking about it all the time. Which is a problem, lol.

HI! I didn't sleep I watched all the 4 episode of OH HAE -YOUNG AGAIN last night 12 to 5am (extra 15mins for re watching last hug ).

I fished half report which is due for Friday, took a nap and saw open thread. I Freaked that I slept for a whole day (I Live alone and my phone in silent mode so its totally possible )

Last time I got crazy about drama and watched it for complete night was HEALER. I really didn't expect OH HAE YOUNG AGAIN to be so interesting. (Still HEALER is best)

So many similarities with marriage not dating: Different kind of job for the main lead(no chaebol crap). They are polite and have manners . Sentiment about house they lived since they were young. closed of nature due to last love troubles. outspoken heroine. etc..,

It was also very good.

Aloha, MoniRosa...

Pleased to meet another SBH fan. ;-)

The entire cast was great, and I've been tracking down and enjoying work by a bunch of them.

Jo Hyun-Jae / Prince Myong Nong: 49 DAYS, SONG OF THE PRINCE, GREAT AMBITION (his first royal role), NINE-TAILED FOX / FORBIDDEN LOVE, YONG PAL, LOVE LETTER...

A while back I found one of Seo Hyun-Jin's movies, THE PEACH TREE with Ryu Deok-Hwan and Cho Seung-Woo. No comic relief in this one.

Will have to finish watching JUNG-YI, GODDESS OF FIRE. I think I got diverted from it before SHJ's character appeared. Just noticed on AsianWiki that she won Best New Actress (miniseries) for THE DUO in 2011. Her first series was Joseon-era HWANG JIN-YI in 2006, which I'll have to check out, along with THE THREE MUSKETEERS. More sageuks with her in them for me to look forward to. Joy!

Cheers!

Hey Gaeina Lee!

Are you in a mood to jump on trampolines in protest over so few shows that can hold our attention? :D I was so bored, that when I happened upon a review for a 2015 Taiwanese movie, I tried it, and I found it was pretty good!!!

The movie: Our Times ... simple, focused, and gave me a bit of the Reply series feel. Despite a few flaws, I like the characters that grow and the plausible development in their relationship. :)

I did watch the first 2 - 3 episodes of Flower in Prison. I'm thinking that I'll like the younger version of the female lead more than the adult (Jin Se Yeon) version. Yes, Go Soo always looks good!!! I'm not sure if I'll continue since I'm not really a sageuk person and 50 episodes (I heard) is a lot of sageuk to get through!!!

@growingbeautifully,yes young ok nyeo is such who is always trying to bring smile in everyone's face, and she seems eager and compassionate all the time, her desperate attempts to seek out the identity of her mom and the passion to learn all those traditional training was also tangible. However I keep telling myself that the older one should be ok to carry on the rest of the drama because the younger one's hidden inside her,['literally imagining that all the time she's onscreen].. :S.So far it's working out minimally I think lol. That fighting scene in the police academy also helps a bit.But the younger one's charm is missing yes.Anyway I am so far enjoying the drama cause this is the first time in a sageuk I'm watching that the girl is the center of the drama, not the other way around.Always love a story from a girl's pov.

Popping out of my busy bubble just to wish everyone a happy OT and to ask what has been bugging me. How do you guys juggle work, sleep, and kdramas? I feel like ever since I got my job, my work has been consuming and draining me. Every time I arrived home, I feel tired and I just want to eat and just sleep. Come weekends, I just want to feel lazy but I'm also dreading work days.

I might have the time to finally finish One More Happy Ending and Signal on Saturdays but I feel like I won't be as emotionally invested as I have been when it was airing and when I was unemployed. I really want to watch multiple airing dramas but I feel like I could just invest my time on one (looking at you Lucky Romance).

Or I'm just whining and need to realize that kdramas will be a speck in my adult. Or I just really really miss bum life. Miss hanging out and being active in Dramabeans discussing about dramas with my fellow beanies. Seriously.

Well, back to reality. Adios.

I do a lot of kdrama and k-variety viewing on weekends from Friday evening through Sunday night and an episode or two during the week (for instance, I'm keeping up with God of Noodles as the subs pop up, but watch Daebak/Jackpot later in the week). I figure I watch 6-8 hours during the week and 10 hours Fri-Sun, and it actually feels like very little time spent since it's usually at night, like a 20 hr/week hobby. :) Combine a couple of meals with viewing and it happily kills two birds with one stone. On I Live Alone, one celeb had a coffee table whose top opened and transformed into a higher table on hinges for a comfortable eating spot in front of the tv. Creative, no? But a simple tray works for me (although I do eat with the family most nights, heh. Kdramas haven't entirely made me anti-social. Yet.)

I find watching bits and pieces instead of a full episode helps! Although I do say watch 15 mins and it turns into a 30 mins viewing section lol

Kdrama has become my guilty pleasure, tho sometimes I do mix a bit of anime and gaming in between and poof the time just goes. Most times I have a schedule of what to do when I get home like eg. must complete 30 mins of pilates and then that way priorities get done.

I think Joonyoung knows this and is pouting a bit (unless he teams up with YSY which I think he'll try to finagle every time now). Those two!

1st Use DISQUS comment system. Most site-blogs are using it these days.
You get notification when someone replies to your comment and threaded comment system makes it far easier to follow the discussion.

Bad start of the year with Cheese in the trap and Dots.

But Another Ms. Oh and Ms. Temper and Nam Jung Gi made me uneasy and i was impatiently waiting for Episodes.

I've seen the blogs that use Disqus.... nothing against the system itself, but ime the Disqus commenter crowd is rather toxic and immature, and almost entirely composed of kpop fans (I have a feeling those two facts are not unrelated).

I would rather db stays out of anything linked to disqus, the current commenting system is far more user-friendly because it doesn't require us to keep yet another login and password, people can comment with far more ease.

Agreed with Pogo on disqus. That platform seems to promote the concept of popular comments more, so many times thoughtful comments are easily buried by the upvotes etc.

I clearly understand both of you. I have also seen followers of DISQUS but our site it worked quite well and we hardly faced trolling/meme and verbal abuse.

I think it all depends upon audience/visitors/traffic of the site. We have only a few threads where active discussion takes place and people make huge wall of texts.

For casual talk i always make temporary accounts and keep all their user/pass the same and then we have password manager and it always worked for me.

Though I completely agree with on up/downvotes system. I have seen it occasionally happen on reddit.
@sancheezy We are using Disqus for more than 2 years and till present no one posted any kind of media on our site. I think most of the audience of Dramabeans is mature enough to stay away from it.

ATleast they should give it a try for atleast 1 week. Without trying we can't make much judgement here.

I think people here are mature enough but sometimes there's a buried comment and maybe I just don't really want to see downvote, many people I see downvote comment they don't agree when I think it should be for non-contributor, false information and troll

Just watched "Another Miss Oh" One of the best decision I ever made in my life. Literally after marathoning "Marriage Not Dating" I watched it and I thought the directing and cinematography kinda similar and has the same feel, then I saw a comment from another dramabean user that they have the same director, no wonder why. I love how both every characters in each dramas are not perfect that makes them more relatable and lovable.

"Miss Temper and Nam Jung GI" I'm going to miss this show. OK Da Jung is my girl crush and I really like the childish second husband and also like all of the ex husband has their new life coming for themselves too, even though it's also not bad if OK Da Jung re-married the first or second husband. I still don't like the last husband for her even though he changed.

Watching "Back to 1989" it's OK. Sometimes I don't like the character of Ivy for being selfish but they have a great chemistry. What makes me continue on watching it is I'm wondering what will happen if one or both of them goes into the future, I'm really going to be disappointed if that will only happen on ending.

Just watched "Bromance" although gender-bender is already clichéd and the reason why the girl needs to pretend as a guy is kinda absurd it's still cute and can keep you busy. They also have a great chemistry and their kissing scenes are superb.

I saw a video from f(x) Amber where she's doing a skit, acting like a obnoxious singer and I think she can grasp a character so i want her more now on "Entourage" but her acting style is kinda suit on sitcom where people kinda exaggerate their characters, so it might not fit on the theme of "Entourage", and she will be like Krystal where she's only good on limited type of drama, although I think she did better than I expected on My Lovely Girl. I mean she can act on not a sitcom way but it's still not consistent and her sitcom style is still her forte. Well at least she improves.

It took me to ep 3 of Another Miss Oh to completely hook me, but I love how the story has developed so complexly already - there were two girls with the same name in my high school class and the mishaps it caused spanned from hilarious to embarrassing, but nothing like sending the wrong fiance to jail or anything like that. Ha! I am in love with the storage room mishap as well, neighbors by a broken through cheap wallboard. Hello, neighbor! (*waving*) And what a romantic save from the creepy delivery guy - gah!

Hi, Eule!!

I'm enjoying ANOTHER MISS OH, too. The show had me in the first episode, but I'm a SHJ fan, and am tickled to pieces to see her.

My kid brother had a similar fiasco in grammar school, although it was same surname with a one-letter difference in the first names. Someone confused my pacifist dongseng with one of the smart-mouth beauts in a higher grade.

The crappy sheetrock job hit a little too close to home for me. I live in a condo. They are infamous for shoddy construction, building codes be damned. In desperation, I took carpentry courses. But I'm a lot better at demolition than construction. Pass me my pry bar. ;-)

In episode 3, the heart-to-heart on DK's sofa while OHY was thawing out with a cup of tea was touching. I really like how it unfolded. And yes, that diving save to attack the noodles was a terrific way to run off the masher. -- DK parking his shoes by the front door... *swoon*

"Why does he impress me without my permission, huh? How would he handle the aftermath?" I think OHY was having a premonition of her own...

Also, Soo-Kyung's drunken gibberish scene, with Ji-Sang getting into the act and speaking nonsense right back at her. Her poker-faced brother smiled broadly. I about fell out of my chair. It was totally disarming.

Episode 4 covered a lot of revelatory ground for viewers and OHY, particularly as she finally met the rest of the lunatics who live in and visit the asylum next door. I half-expected Soo-Kyung to arm wrestle her during their drinking session. More of DK's premonitions came to pass -- the most noteworthy of which was OHY picking up Soo-Kyung's gauntlet and going ballistic in the original sense of the word. The wire-fu was so cheesy... maybe a tip of the helmet to all of her non-acrobatic sword fights in SU BAEK-HYANG?!

It's taken a while, but I finally realized that DK doesn't say much because he is a good listener, literally. His turning on the sounds of falling rain was the proof in the pudding.

Loving Oh Hae-Young Again. The show is my new crack and I wish I'd waited until it finished airing so I could marathon it. Waiting for every Monday to come around is torture!

Haven't watched yesterday's ep of Entertainer yet, but I do like the show a lot. The plot's going in circles but I love the band family and Ji Sung, of course, is stellar.

Currently marathoning Oh My Ghostess and absolutely loving it!

Awaiting Lucky Romance and Beautiful Gong-shim so hard.

After Signal I haven't been able to get into any drama, DOTS and Vampire Detective are quite meh.

I am currently watching oldies:

-Gentleman's dignity - solid first episode and rocking casts, but already bored by the plot on the fifth episode, there's literally nothing happening but the two leads having catfight like 12 years old

-Nice guy - Normally I don't like melos but this is quite addictive, still on second episode though so here's hoping SJK and MCW won't let me down

And I CANNOT wait for Police Squad 38! How does Seo In Guk get hotter and hotter??

Hello everyone, happy Thursday!!
So happy I can finally participate in OT, usually I have a night shift on Friday so it's there are already 200 comments by the time I get to it.

Anyone watching Refresh Man??
Nothing has happened for the last 3 episodes and I don't even care about the office stuff so it's harder to follow.
I used to love it so much, but Ji Wen Kai is getting more immature and wow, Yu Tang is oblivious. But I place the blame on JWK, because he's so hot and cold.

Loving Back to 1989, but it's slowing down as well, though still very enjoyable, especially the relationship between the main girl and the main guy (cannot recall their names arm, they will come to me!). However, she can be slightly annoying at times but love how she's not afraid of showing how much she likes him! Still have to catch up on the latest episode.

Kdrama are so dry at the moment, I am watching the first episode of Oh Hae Young Again, but it's not really getting to me like I hoped.

I'm watching Refresh Man, too. Yup. It seems to have stalled.

She really doesn't have to win over her boss anymore, her family is safe from gangsters and debt, and it's taken this "all about work" turn that isn't that interesting. I like the team, even though they are kind of stock characters painted with a broad brush. However, the romance is why I watch, and it's now just a strange game of waiting for either lead to confess their true feelings (which is not particularly compelling to me). I have a rotten fear that it's going to take a nose dove like his other project, "Fall in Love with Me" which started with a bang, ended with a thud. *Fingers crossed*

Count me in on the Oh Hae Young fanwagon! I love how the recaps have started referring to the main lead as Our Oh Hae Young. She is definitely ours and we are rooting for her the whole way! What a strong and quirky character she is - I wanna be like her when I grow up! ??

I am also watching Entertainer. I was a little confused in the beginning but it seems to be settling in. I'm still not sure about the lead couple as a romance - I think at this point I still want to see Suk-Ho/Min-Joo and Geu-rin/Ha-neul pairings. But we shall see. There have been a few recent interactions between Suk-Ho and Geu-rin that gave a little spark so maybe they will pull it off, if that is what the writers intend to happen. Romantic pairings aside, I love all of the bandmates. Yun-soo and his son are the sweetest and I just want to scoop them both up and give them endless hugs of encouragement. The scene in the last episode where Yun-soo rushes back to Chan-Hee after the performance and they see each other through the window - smiles lighting them both up, nose rubs and drawing hearts to each other on the window - it doesn't get more precious than that. Whether the romantic pairings work out or not, the love story between this father and son has my heart! ❤️❤️

Surprised by the Thursday OT but Happy Thursday!! I almost thought it was April Fools lol.

After trying first few eps of several kdramas, I jumped to J-dos. And it has been fun.

N no Tame Ni - SU-GO-I! I was hesitant at first but was hooked by the Heroine's story and struggles. There was something healing about the stories of these broken people. I also liked the connections and relationships between the characters. And of course the emphasis on hand-holding! I'll never see it the same way again T.T

The love triangle is also well-executed. This time I really only cared for our heroine's happiness. Ando was the sweet guy who I thought was good - er healthy? - for her. Naruse, on the other hand, was her comrade, support, accomplice. I found the ending very satisfying. I was also pleasantly surprised at how fleshed out Nishizaki was. And is it just me or does it sometimes seem like the present is almost b&w and without much vibrance. As if the present was the past. Lol must be something wrong with my brightness setting.

Running Man - Latest ep was fun. The Signal + Reply feels were overflowing.

Fuben na Benriya - I may not have loved it but I sure did enjoy it. It took me a while to finish it but it was worth it. I unexpectedly had fun with a show filled with misunderstandings.

Wakamono Tachi - Superb cast...

Also waiting for Lucky Romance and for Juhan Shuttai to be halfway through. :)

Both leads in Koori No Sekai super-charasmatic, and also EXTRA mesmerizing in this drama... I SO shipped them in real life, but alas, Matsushima Nanako married Sorimachi Takashi (now divorced), and...Yutaka Takenouchi might be gay.

For J-drama romances, the one to beat for me is still "Long Vacation." The entire drama has no moments that I dislike, honestly, so even watching beginning episodes is a pleasure.

Omg I got a shock when I saw the open thread post and had to go check my calendar because I was so sure it wasn't Friday yet. I guess Heads got the day wrong? Haha.

Not complaining though! I watched Sunny (2011) a few days ago and I've been dying to talk about it with anyone who has watched and enjoyed it. I love it to bits. Having gone through girls' school in my secondary school years, and being a big fan of nostalgic films like this, Sunny really struck all the right chords for me. The friendship between the members of Sunny made me miss my secondary school clique so much. I loved how the film balanced the comedic and serious moments so well, and how smoothly they weaved the flashbacks into the movie. There are many movies reminiscing the high school years like You're the Apple of My Eye (Na Xie Nian) and Our Times (Wo de shao nv shi dai) which I enjoyed a lot, but I love that Sunny's focus is on the friendship between the girls. It does touch on Na-mi's first love, but I like that ultimately, this film focuses on the mutual support and care that the girls provide for each other.

I cried so much throughout the movie because of the ironies in life that the various members of Sunny experienced. I cried so hard when older Na-mi was watching the old videotape of themselves and younger Bok-hee said that the future her must have already become Miss Korea and is dearly loved by everyone. Everyone's full of hope in life at high school, but no one really knows how life will unfold, and how different the life trajectories will be between a closely-knitted group of friends. I loved Chun-hwa so much - she reminds me of my close friend in secondary school, who was also fiercely loyal like that. (Kang So-ra's my girl crush now!!) The best part of the movie is that I can totally see a consistent image between the younger selves and the older selves. Older Chun-hwa is just as bad-ass as younger Chun-hwa, it's amazing how they share the exact same demeanour. The actresses in Sunny have all done a brilliant job.

Last but not least I think the director has chosen the perfect 80s songs to go with the movie. He mentioned that songs evoke emotions and feelings far more than scripted words can, he is so right.

I think I've found my favourite Korean film!

I totally agree with your sentiments on Sunny! Even though I'm only in my 20s, the thought of looking back at your younger self and the hopes and aspirations you had now, and hoping deeply in your heart "younger me, I hope I did you proud!", really moved me.

Hi Rachel, I'm in my 20s too! Yeah, and the thing about Sunny is that injects just the right amount of hope and optimism into reality. For some people, perhaps life didn't really unfold the way they wanted it to be, but ultimately, they were given a second chance to pick themselves up again.

Sunny is an absolute gem of a movie, I watched it because it was named after (and using) my favourite Boney M song (long story short, I used to be a fan as a kid because my parents had tapes, I didn't know they were German lip-syncers) but it's SO GOOD, it really should get more love.

There are very few movies out there in any language that genuinely focus on female friendship, but it's not just the subject, this movie is actually fantastic.

And the cast, like you said, was perfect. The young cast carries the most of it but I love the grown Sunny just as much. Yoo Ho-jung is love <3. And that dance at the end... I can't remember the last time a movie made me laugh and cry equally like this.

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

That last dance at the end was perfect, but honestly, I can't remember it very clearly because both times I watched it I was crying so hard my vision was blurred. My heart was bursting from happiness that Chun-hwa's last act before her death was reuniting Sunny to complete the dance, but at the same time I was soooo sad she couldn't witness it herself. Idk, just thinking about that scene makes me emotional. )':

I love Sunny the song. I play it on loop these days. Songs from the 80s are wonderful. I'm born in the 90s, but I wish experienced the 80s for myself because it was really a golden age for music.

but Sunny the song is from 1976 i.e. golden years of disco :)

Required fields are marked *

I think it's both! I think that's the exact magic of Sunny, actually. The film has its fair share of crazies and comedic moments, but just enough realism for them to be relatable to everyone who watches it.

Oops, I got it wrong! It's okay though, regardless of the year, I absolutely love oldies. Old is gold!

0

yeah, there are some ways in which Sunny is like comfort food and others in which it's just this new and awesome thing that I cannot get enough of. It's nostalgia done exactly right - a lot like Answer Me 1997 & co.

And I admit I only knew which year Sunny the song came out because I was a childhood Boney M fan. Old really is gold, I remain a sucker for disco to this day!

0

I've never been interested in the Reply series despite all the hype, but when you put it that way... I definitely need to watch it.

Ah, I'm a sucker for 80s Cantopop. Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui, Beyond... The golden age of Hong Kong music scene. Interestingly I still hear quite a bit of Cantopop inserted as background music into K-dramas and variety shows. The Koreans really love Leslie Cheung.

0

Totally agree on the all love for Sunny. I watched the first one by myself, cried and laughed so much throughout the movie. The fighting scene will never get old, just so so good.

Then I heard there was a directors cut I immediately searched everywhere for it. I ended up watching it with a friend of mine and I do believe the directors cut is even better. The film made me love Kang Sora even more, and adore Shim Eun-kyung.

It's funny thinking back in that scene where the older Im Na-Mi hugs her younger version crying at the seats. It seemed bittersweet but since I never experienced such heartbreak I couldn't quite connect as much. Now that I have that scene feels more healing to me because you know life eventually goes on and you will be in a better place. Ugh I can rant on and on about this film.

0

Required fields are marked *

I only watched the director's cut, so maybe that's why I found it so perfect. May I know what are the differences?

That scene of older Na-mi consoling younger Na-mi was heartbreaking. This kind of scenes where the older character finally finds closure and heals their emotional scars ALWAYS makes me cry, like in Signal when older Hae-young was trailing behind younger Hae-young (and Jae-han) and realizing that he was never truly alone when he was young.

Me too, to me this film is perfection. It's the kind of films that I'll keep rewatching on rainy days and never get sick of. I love Kang So-ra so much here, and I'm glad that it made me change my mind about Shim Eun-Kyung's acting. I found her too over-the-top in Cantabile Tomorrow because I kept comparing her performance to Ueno Juri.

Hi, pogo...

Oh, wow... what a blast from the past. I was studying in Germany the year this was a hit:

Boney M - Rasputin (Live) HD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JhyO9APH2I

Just segue into the Village People and Donna Summer. Oh, and the Brothers Gibb. ;-)

That's a very nice disco arrangement of "Sunny." (There were around 500 cover versions as of 2000!) I didn't realize that it was another flavor of this 1966 hit that made it to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart:

Bobby Hebb - Sunny
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubvYQxTXO3U

The original artist, Bobby Hebb, later recorded his own disco version in 1976 -- before Boney M's euro-disco treatment, which sounds like something Giorgio Moroder produced.

Now I really want to see this film! -- Vielen Dank!

Aloha, Kaylie!

Thanks for mentioning SUNNY. I've started watching films as well as series, and sometimes I'm in the mood for a short production or three to shift gears. Am presently about half-way through SPLENDID POLITICS, which I've been enjoying.

Your comment on the music in SUNNY grabbed my attention. '80s, eh? I'll enjoy the ride in the WayBack Machine. I went bonkers over COFFEE PRINCE and MNIKSS because the background music was terrific... I watched FAITH four times because the music was cracktastic, IMHO -- and the storyline or editing was so loopy.

Hi, Kaylie and "Sunny" fans...

I came across an interview with the composer and original artist. It is a great read:

One So True : Disc pays tribute to the song “Sunny,” and Bobby Hebb looks back on his creation

By Jonathan Marx
September 14, 2000 Arts and Culture

http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashville/one-so-true/Content?oid=1184764

Elsewhere I read that Bobby Hebb wrote "Sunny" within two days of US President John F. Kennedy's assassination [22 Nov. 1963]. His own brother was stabbed to death the day after Kennedy was shot. Hebb died in 2010, and the Manchester Guardian published a lovely obituary.

An excerpt from the interview link above:

BH: “Sunny” is your disposition. You either have a sunny disposition or you have a lousy disposition. Either you’re screaming at someone and angry, or you say, ‘No, uh-uh, I’m not angry. Let’s discuss this thing in a nice and pleasant way.’ Well, that pleasant way is a sunny disposition. Instead of confusing, and building chaos, let’s make this day a nice day for everyone. Spread that type of news so that you can become a little more relaxed and not filled with chaos, because chaos can become a killer.

Because this was a fight for peace—not necessarily a peace in Vietnam, but how about within?
---

It touches me deeply that this song that was written nearly 50 years ago still resonates with so many people around the world. Blessings...

Thanks Pakalana! I didn't know it was written so early. Music really transcends time. I remember you have a passion for music from our discussion in the previous open thread. I think you'll enjoy Sunny a lot, because music is quite central to the evoking of nostalgia in this film. Another song that I really enjoyed in Sunny was Reality by Richard Sanderson. Apparently the song choices were all made by the director, who spent a lot of time listening to music before he directed his first film. The music made an impact on his subsequent films.

Kaylie,

Thanks for that pointer to "Reality." What a lovely song. I'd never heard it before. Don't know the singer, either. Apparently it didn't make a splash in the USA... either in the New York area or Honolulu. Maybe if I'd gone to movies at the Foreign Film Society I would have heard it. ;-)

Dang! The spam filter must have snarfed the links I put up for you and

Here's the original version of "Sunny," which made it to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart in 1966... 77 WABC-AM in New York would have been playing it, and I would have heard it on my transistor radio. ;-)

This was a hit in 1978, the year I studied in Germany... Blew my mind after studying a year of Russian history. All I can say is, during Disco Madness, the darnedest stuff got turned into dance music. -- Oh, yeah: "YMCA" by the Village People was a monster hit that year, too, along with a German-language version.

NICHOLAS AND ALEXANDRA was a terrific British film that came out circa 1971-72. A gorgeous account of Russia's last tsar and his family... with plenty of footage of Rasputin.

Hi, pogo -- and Kaylie and the rest of the SUNNY fans!

Glad you enjoyed the links... Actually, the only time they seem to get delayed for moderation is when there's more than one per post. Now I've wised up and will only post one at a time.

I was so surprised to find a reference to Boney M on DramaBeans. Cosmic...

I watched SUNNY on 5/14, NYC time, and am game to continue yakking about it on the next Open Thread. You've been warned. ;-)

Oh Pikalana I went searching for your post on Sunny in the OT Part 2 but I guess you meant next week's thread. I'll be waiting! I love it so much that I'm just dying to discuss it with anyone who loves it!

Just listened to that great Placebo cover of "Daddy Cool," along with the original. Placebo blows that song into the stratosphere. Great guitars! Fuller sound, with a harder rock edge. Very, very nice.

The phrase "Daddy Cool" sounds like beatnik jive. ;-)

Village People - YMCA OFFICIAL Music Video 1978
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS9OO0S5w2k

Check out "Macho Man" and "In the Navy," too. Lots of double-entendre and plenty of camp.

It's useful to know some social history. The group's name refers to Greenwich Village in lower Manhattan, home of the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street. The neighborhood had a large gay population, and was the site of riots against police hassling the patrons (and shaking down the owners) of the club in 1969. Eventually laws that discriminated against homosexuals were changed. In keeping with the sexual revolution that had started earlier among women, gay men "came out of the closet" (began to live as openly gay), although that had already been going on in Greenwich Village for decades.

The Village People made a splash outside the gay club scene with "Macho Man," and had a monster hit with "YMCA" that crossed over to the disco charts. While it's cute to see girls dancing around to the song, it's a lot funnier to see a bunch of hunky, macho guys prancing around and singing about having a good time at that hotbed of hedonism, the Young Men's Christian Association. It was started in London in 1844 to provide a godly refuge for rural men coming into big cities for employment, and later provided safe, respectable, affordable lodging for single workingmen.

I used to live at a YWCA, and was grateful to have a safe, secure place I could afford until I could get an apartment. ;-)

But worse this series makes me toooo hungy..just liek answe me 88.. it was so difficult to endure even 1 whole episode without desire to munch creeping in..

2. Entertainer - liked it when it started..but doesn't leave any impact.. hyeri a letdown..guess she can't act..but was cast well in A88... and our lead singer...I thought he was good in heirs..but now i think he is like that in real life..and not a good actor.. ..BUT he is so darn cute.. :) .. Nirvana in Fire!! This is such a epic Chinese historical drama. The props, actors, everything about this drama is such a high standard. It may start off a bit slow, but from episode five onwards it gets so good. Alot of Chinese netizens always say not even one word is wasted in this drama. Everything is just stunning, it's more a tactic drama than battle, but there are epic fight scenes too.

I would honestly recommend this to anyone who likes historical dramas.

1. Secret Love Affair--not my favorite of the PD/writer's collaborations, but it scratches the torrid love affair itch perfectly. Could also try Lee Kyung-hee's melos--I'm Sorry, I Love You is particularly dark and intense. Que Será, Será also fits the bill. If you want to go all out, there's also What Happened in Bali, which has more heartbreak and misery and soapiness than most people care to stomach.
2. Resurrection (has a couple huge twists). The End of the World (thriller with no real mystery to it, but it has some pretty intense twists throughout the drama). Conspiracy in the Court (it is a sageuk, but it's a fusion with thriller elements, and the whole conspiracy part is twisty if you aren't familiar with Jeongjo's reign). White Tower isn't a perfect fit but it also comes to mind--it's got thriller elements and comes with a nasty twist at the end.
3. Hello Franceska is pretty funny, as is Harvest Villa, and History of the Salaryman is a hoot. I find Park Yeon-seon's dramas to be hilarious, though she mixes comedy with heavier stuff. I also found Heard it Through the Grapevine hilarious, but maybe not in a laugh-out-loud way?

OMG, how did I forget "A Millions Stars Falling From the Sky"?! It was dark, intense, thrilling and crack-tastic. One of my favorite Takuya Kimura dramas.

I've mentioned Secret Love Affair many times in past threads before, but in terms of intense chemistry between the leads, this drama really ranks up there at the top.

Nirvana in Fire felt like a 16-episode drama (even when it's nearer to 50)...that's how crackling it was for me. I am on episode 3 of Six Flying Dragons, but I honestly don't find it as addictive as NIF. Which is just so so sooooo good.

I watched many Kimutaku dramas (and enjoyed many) but not impressed with him like other people. I thought he did his acting more or less same in all his dramas. Million Stars was good, dark and intense- but that is all I remember.

I think the different between Nif and 6FD is the way it present. 6FD move forward to the event and follow the rough part of their journey and how they become who they are,
when NIF is all about payback, which make it feels more satisfying and for me is more thrilling in some way.

I agree that the shows focused on different things, but I think that's why I liked SFD more. NiF felt a little too neat and tidy for me at the end, with clear good and bad guys, while SFD was always messy, without any easy answers.

I have not yet see SIX FLYING DRAGONS, but would suggest THE KING'S DAUGHTER, SU BAEK-HYANG, which covers all the bases, IMHO. Don't let the 108 episodes fool you. They're about half an hour. The cinematography is gorgeous... the sets and costuming are a treat for the eye, assorted skullduggery, and about five love stories, a great ensemble cast, espionage, a couple of true-blue sidekicks who provide strategic comic relief, sword fights, boar hunting, etc., etc. Manes O' Glory (100% gat-free back in Three Kingdoms Baekche). The landscapes/topography are breathtaking. And great music. Seo Hyun-Jin, currently starring in OH HAE-YOUNG AGAIN, is the leading lady, and she's a knockout.

I haven't actually been watching any kdramas for a while now, but dipped a little toe back in the pool with Oh Hae-young Again, and I kind of, with great caution, love it. Seo Hyun-jin is so so SO charming <3

The drama gods have still not heeded my prayers and sent that unholy Kim So-hyun/Taecyeon pairing back to the hell of NEVER where it belongs.

Other than that my whole week has been eaten up by Captain America: Civil War. Which is a really good movie, and left me feeling all kinds of ways about everything in it, though it's not the greatness that was Winter Soldier (and it needed more Steve!). I remember wondering, in 2011, how Marvel was going to make a movie about the world's most boringly straight-arrow superhero seem worthwhile, but five years later, I have to admit that the Captain America trilogy is the best of Marvel's solo franchise films. Which is astonishing, considering how it all started out.

Also, I really, REALLY love the character of Stever Rogers, as played by Chris Evans. He's a great example of a non-asshole hero.

(I can't believe I am gushing over superhero movies on db, but there's a first for everything! And at least this wasn't like the Batman vs Superman movie, which annoyed me so much I wanted a drink - an alcoholic one - in the middle)

I'm still half in disbelief that Cap's trilogy turned out this good - the first one had its period aesthetics and really likeable supporting cast (Hayley Atwell <333) in its favour so I wondered how they were going to do the second one without either the setting or the supporting cast..... I was half-expecting an Iron Man 2-like fumble, but Winter Soldier just went full-on spy thriller and turned out to be the best thing Marvel's ever done. And then Civil War.

I'm also constantly surprised at how much I like Chris Evans in this role - I mean, who'd have thought I could love the guy from the Nanny Diaries/Fantastic Four this much? Before this, he always seemed painfully average but he just owns the role of Steve. I mean, sure he's not as charismatic as RDJ but he's not supposed to be - and it's really, really tricky to play someone as moral and essentially decent as Cap without coming off as boring and stodgy but he really pulls it off.

(oop I am really gushy over this series lol)

Literally the only thing I would have removed from Civil War is that ridiculous attempt at a love line with Peggy's NIECE.

It's a combination of poor writing and a lacklustre actress, the best decision the Russos made was downplaying it as much as they could in WS and turning Scarlett Johansson into the de facto female lead of the present-day Captain America movies instead of trying to play a traditional love line.

But about 6 months ago my oncologist wanted to try something more drastic, so I did this nasty chemotherapy that made me feel really crummy. I wrote to them saying I was not going to be able to work for a while. My editor said to take my time and get better and not worry about doing any toons until I felt better. This past April, I finally felt pretty good. So I sent in 2 toons. (The one on April 11 was an alternate ending for "Cheese in the Trap" and I got over 11 thousand views. My best ever.) Then 2 days later, I got an email informing me that I was being terminated. I know Warner Brothers bought them out. But I think it was pretty heartless of them to fire the cancer survivor just when she started working again.

I'm confused as to what the benefits are for paying for a DF subscription. I've been satisfied with my free account. I can watch 1080p on my roku, and I'm used to ads...so I don't understand why anyone would pay, is there some benefit I don't know about?

There's a newly launched app - Viu - that has most of the free to air stuff but also some tvN shows like Signal. May not be available in every country but you could see if it works in your country. It's legal - launched by PCCW a HK company. I know it's available in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong but now sure about other countries. It's free for now - there are some ads but not too obtrusive.

I am among those that freaked out when I thought today was Friday! Got important work to do and cannot missed Friday*tho I kinda wish today is Monday already!*

I hate Monday since it reminds me of piles of works waiting to be completed, but because of Oh Hae Young Again, I have been waiting for Monday and grinning alone like an idiot. Kinda similar with OUR Hae Young when she feels down she will think of a happy place and that is Park Do Kyung. But in my case, I am thinking of happy moments our favourite couple have when they are together.

Cant wait for next week! Ive been replaying the preview for episode 5 for so many times and it still cannot subdue my anticipation for next week's episode! I think I am falling in love. What should I do?

In my Plate

- Another Oh Hae Young -> my new jam, I can't wait for another Monday. Seo Hyun Jin is love. She caught my eye from Hwang Jin Ni era, it's weird, since she only appear several episodes. The Hug in last episodes, so much feels.

- Five Enough -> the story is entertaining, especially SangMin - YeonDoo Couple. All character are with flaws but so real. It's rare to encounter Weeend dramas without makjang elements. It is still at 24 episodes. 25 episodes more to go..

- I check Entertainer and Mr. Jo time to time and expecting, Go Hyun Jung new drama and Let's Fight Ghost

and the last I become fixed viewer for 2 Days One Night after Yoon Shi Yoon joined, he is adorable and also I am now stucked with We Are In Love for Orange Juice couple, I don't even a fan of We Got Married and only check this show because Song Ji Hyo. But Chen Bolin such a fine man. They are adorable together, and their date was a fairy tale, too good to be true.

hi hi hi hi . . .
Oh Hae Young Again : the show is fun and funny but I have this eery feeling because what I wanted the most is actually Taejin x Hae-young to be together again. I can't shake this uncomfortable feeling that does kyung begged to make the biggest investor pull out the investment which impact lots of people, not just taejin or haeyoung, then didn't feel bad about doing that, no matter to who. I think personal business should be handled personally not hijacked someone opportunity. I hope the show can handle this appropriately , one of my favorite is in Secret [beware of spoiler]. At the end bae soo bin character gets to realize that what he sacrifice is the happiness for their future family and cry to his knees seeing that flow by because of his action. Then he spends his time in atonement and goes to jail (he is a murderer in one way).
I don't like it if the show used this ill intention of dokyung just as plot device to show how taejin x heeyoung just not fated or not match or to make do kyung x heeyoung happen, they can live as they want without do kyung involvement. This need to be resolve properly and not just end because now heeyoung care about do kyung more than tae jin and tae jin do something illegal. This can't weight down do kyung ill wish, this make dokyung x heeyoung happen but this can't be just for that, how about tae jin's life? Don't sacrifice him writer.

The amazing boyfriend : This show is really funny and well thought. I think the police do their job, the villain do their job and the hero also doing their job. One of my fave scene is when the supporting actress in "the tyrant CEO" drama talks about jing zhi car accident with Xuan-Xuan's fiancee, Xuan Xuan "date" with JZ ex boyfriend, da qiao extra job as taekwondo master and then JZ overheard that. It's the things they and us (viewer) been talking and it feels so good when they give us those scene.
I also like the underlying back story like jing zhi, xiao yan and xuan2 is grow up together, ye zhen and jing zhi is comfortable friend that tried dating, all of small story between them.
This can be better in the execution but I think the story is really good and it's enough for making me stay.

Love song : just watch up to ep 2,
It's really hearbreaking when sakura at 1st doesn't think he needs to get cured for her life but to give the impossible wish to Maki, the speech. It also break my heart when she needs to help Maki but she just can't, she just can't do it, it hurt to see how she hates herself for that.

Tae jin seems like a good guy for hae yoong, no matter how he behaves as business man, he remembers the happy memories,

I totally saw how he made his decision regarding the marriage, I wished he would go "Proposal Daisakusen/operation Proposal" for his marriage cause they are okay, he just not ready and caught off guard in whatever come to him at the moment,

I also feel that Hae yoong not knowing what happen to him is plots hole , just how?
this is the stalker era, I mean information era

The way TaeJin pushed her away drives me nuts. Actually, just the way he decides to cut her off without letting her know drives me nuts.

These people were gonna get married! They were gonna live the rest of their lives together and he just one-sidedly pushes her away "for her own good" and keeps secrets thay big from her?

If they actually married, what would he have done then? Ask for a divorce?

0

Required fields are marked *

Marriage is a big thing,
for a man to face this - failure- just before he needs to have a woman he loves as his responsibility is a big decision,

in society, if they get married, imagine the backlash for hae young to have a criminal husband ,
he wants to face it alone without involving her bc all of this downfall (in his mind) is about him, he being afraid and decided to push her away is his defense mechanism bc he doesn't even know what he faced,
is not about hurting her but bc he himself realize he can't take care of her from now on, so he thinks, why get marriage and drag her down?
it's unavoidable that he will drag her down no matter how they keep spouting love, he may think she'll choose to stay but he choose to go down alone bc again society has this stigma around jailed.

I still think he did wrong with not telling her the story, but he also in difficult circumstances and his choice is understandable, esp if you add Asian perspective into account. So he deserves another chance bc his mistake , he even follows what she wants about the break up,

that's why I think hae young not knowing it and how it kept hidden is a plot hole in the series. Just how the hell she didn't knew?

0

Oh, I understand. But it still drives me nuts.

0

Hi, Peeps...

Another sterling example of Noble Idiocy.

But I'm thinking back to something OurOHY said, maybe it was late in Episode 3... She said she didn't love him enough, and wasn't deeply committed... and wasn't going to live that way any longer.

Truth to tell, I believe she was in such shock that she couldn't get it together to pry the truth out of him, whether he would have actually leveled with her or not.

Re: My Amazing Boyfriend For me this show falls into the BoF catagory, my thought process as I'm watching: "what is this even? This is so ridiculous! Why am I watching this? whyyyy did I just watch the next ep?? What is my life?" But then it has these small self-aware moments that go by so fast I'm not even sure they happened and now with the latest episode we have an honest-to-goodness legit morals/principals quandary that I never expected in all the fluff. I don't know, maybe I'm just so desperate for some of that og MLFAS magic that I'll take this through-a-glass-darkly, muddled taste of it...... *sigh ..my post-finals delirium everyone, where Thursday was already Friday, and DB just confirmed it.

I can't get into any dramas after Signal T_T I was recommended to watch Love me if you dare - a chinese drama but we shall see if that lives up to its hype. Definitely not as good as Signal, and nothing is as good as BBC Sherlock (which is what I've been rewatching these days). I might try Loving Oh Hae Young which is what peeps seem to be recommending but it's SOOOO HARDDD to move on from Signal, like it's been a couple of months now? And still no drama lives up to it.

Required fields are marked *

I think if you want to let go a drama, it better to try a complete opposite genre, so you don't have to check anything with the same logic you used in the previous drama.

The drama that will make yourself neutral and has no expectation cause there's no drama is similar with other when we have diff experience and hype about it.

when we already get used to a certain trope, using similar trope will make it harder to appreciate since we'll always compare.

I have similar experience with Nirfana In Fire and historical like hong gil dong and cruel palace.
I get it's what they do in other drama, I can't find it enjoyable, but when I watch Moon River (tw), I appreciate and enjoy it as it is without having to use the same logic as NiF,

just my advice since it may make you regard the new drama less than what it actually is bc you still in bias mode towards the previous one

if you've watched the 2005 P&P movie, you should also try the 1995 BBC miniseries starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle - it's longer and closer to a drama in form (and also closer to Austen's original book). Now THAT series knew how to do a slow burn.

0

Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle 1195 BBC version is hard to beat. Keira Knightley annoys the crap out of me. She was not my Lizzy.

0

Required fields are marked *

yeah i did, i liked it of course it was closer to the book since it had 6 hours, so longer the burn but i prefer the 2005 version, i liked the rawness+intensity of it and prefered the chemistry of lizzy and darcy in 005 version, and keira was definitely my lizzy, she was fiery, lively, witty etc not to say jennifer wasnt good because she was but that's not how imagined lizzy to be, too demure for my taste. anyways both versions are beloved at this point and i liked both although i do have my fav. but its cool that there's something for everyone.

Required fields are marked *

You are definitely not alone. All my friends love Keira's Lizzy except for me. They thought Ehle was too matronly for their taste.

0

Man I love that movie. The rain scene and the end scene where you can hear her intake of breath as he is walking towards her. SO goood!

0

@Kiara - I think the 2005 P&P probably works as a very Hollywoodised love story (and very close to expectations of a pure romanticised love story, as much as P&P can be) but the 1995 version catches atmosphere and character far better.

0

The Keira version feels like it's P&P rewritten by the Brontes.

0

My Janeite brethren, (sistren? Omo, that's a real word! Ekkk, I'm nerding out a bit.)

I'm with Kiara and Pogo, 2005 Lizzy just isn't right. 1995 Lizzie (yes the change of name was intentional) is perfect. She's "demure, matronly, etc" because it's the early 1800s. 2005 Lizzy needed to (my 21st century humanist mind is sorry to say) learn her place, at least for the historic representation.

But I can appreciate the 2005 version for what it was and it helped my 10 yo self get back into Austen so it has a special place in my heart. I think Emma 1996 does a better job of adapting a multiple volume book in 2 hours than P&P 2005.

On a side note has anyone seen the 1940 P&P? Now that's a wreck!

0

I just couldn't reconcile Austen's Lizzy with Knightley/Wright's 21st-century teenager version of Lizzy.

I mean, yes, she was sassy even in the original but she'd never have dared speak to her mother the way Knightley's version does!

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

Yes! To all of this. In the 2005 movie, the director made some strange choices that undercut the plot - like letting the actor make Darcy's impassioned love speech to her (under the gazebo thing) so fast it is almost unintelligible, and making Lizzy's most heartbreaking moment (when she finds out her sister has run off with Wickham and that DRcy wouldn't consider her now) into a comedic moment where she and Darcy are sort of chasing each other inadvertently. Bizarre

1995 PP is a classic. Ehle was exactly what I envisioned in my mind when I read the book. Keira was not the ideal visual. She looks too much of a model than a country gentlewoman of England. But LOVE the scene in the 05 movie where Darcy flexed his fingers up the stairs after contact with Lizzy. Colin Firth and Ehle's hand contact at the carriage scene in his park is hard to beat though.

0

Required fields are marked *

1940s PP had it's golden moments. Lizzie there is my aunt's vision. It had dialogues spoken in a different tone, giving a varied interpretation of what the speaker meant. It's interesting to compare the 1940s one to the 1995 one. Like the dialogue between Darcy and Lizzie in their first intimate meeting in her friend's home: the one being the marriage home to be far from the parents'.

Now I know the effect DB has on my life. I saw OT on my mobile but didn't open thread till I got home. I just accepted today is Friday until I read the first comment.

Can't get into any dramas after finishing Signal, 6FD and getting swept off my feet by Pied Piper. Watched GMB, Neighborhood Lawyer Jo and Miss Temper.

GMB is such a let down by horrible writing and even worse directing. Waste of MCW and Kim Kang Woo. Neighborhood Lawyer started well but I got so annoyed by the ridiculous ep 7 to 9 that I just couldn't get back to the show. Did it get better? I meant to check back in but I ended up finishing Miss Temper which I started earlier but dropped at ep 4. I got over my irritation with Nam Jung Gi. I think it was Woo Joo's growing crush on the next door lady that reeled me in.

I started Oh Hae Young because of the good reviews here but I haven't really got on board. Just finished ep 2, hopefully it gets better for me.

The only one which I am anticipating impatiently for new episodes is Master of Revenge. This show wasn't even under my radar. I was looking forward to GMB and Monster. Have not started Monster, is it any good? Master of Revenge is shaping up to be a well written, well directed and well acted drama. In a weird way, it is like what I had expected from GMB which unfortunately failed to deliver. It's still early and anything can get go awry. But by comparison, I was already frustrated with GMB from the first few episodes. I don't know if it got better since I had stopped. Now, I am wondering where can I find seabream fish noodles?

Oh, I'm totally the wrong person to ask about anything authentic concerning Korean cuisine. I just thought it sounded curious and probably tasty if made by the master like on GON. It popped out as something I hadn't heard of either. I am always amazed at the scenes in Korean fish markets at the variety and odd sea items (unfamiliar to me). Of course, so much of the dishes contain fish - again, not a common thing in the States. Anyhoot, here's a link to Wook's Food Odyssey, a 16 min show each week from a Korean chef. I loved how it introduced me to many Korean and other dishes.

Ohhhh OT on Thursday! A pleasant surprise! I did have a moment where I panicked thinking it was Friday and that I had deadlines I'd missed. I hope you've all had a wonderful week so far. Mine has been okay. I'm ready for the weekend, though I am coming into work on Saturday for our annual Spring Cleaning.

This week in Kdramaland:

OH HAEYOUNG AGAIN: Still haven't watch episode 3 and 4, but I have heard good things. I think I am going to watch it once I'm home on Saturday. It will be an afternoon of OHYA and Outlander. :)

HEARTLESS CITY- Watched the first episode on Netflix and I really liked it. Visually it looks great. I love the scene where Jung Kyung Ho is walking and everyone is fighting around him. Pretty badass. Looking forward to watching more episodes.

OH MY GHOSTESS- I watched a few more episodes so I am very proud of myself. Now they are getting to the mystery so I am not as annoyed with our lovely, horny ghost.

MARRIAGE CONTRACT- Only seen 2 episodes, but I am liking what I've seen so far. The little girl is so cute, BUT did anyone else get frustrated with how much she ran away, ran into the street, didn't follow her mother etc? I just kept flashing back to when I was child and if I'd done any of that I would have gotten into so much trouble.

Enjoy the rest of your week Beanies! :)

I really appreciate your pointer last week to LOVE ME IF YOU DARE in thread 1 on OT #446!!!

Resistance was futile. Totally. I marathoned LOVE ME IF YOU DARE in 2-3 days. Had a blast, although the plot kind of went south in the last 2 episodes or so.

Still, it reeled me in like a expired marlin. And even though the story had a bunch of creepy serial killers, the way they were handled did not give me nightmares or scare the pants off me while watching. The show has an interestingly calm vibe, given the subject matter. Also, it was nowhere near as gory as some of the CSI and NCIS scenes I've seen.

Thanks for the pointer to Wallace Huo. I really enjoyed watching his nuanced expressions and body language.

Loved the opening theme in particular, which reminded me of the X-FILES theme crossed with the opening of ANGEL, with its nice moody cello/viola.

By any chance, do you know the meaning of the tortoise Chen Mo's name? S/He seems to be a distant relative of Sherlock's Clyde. (But honestly, s/he would have been quarantined, if not confiscated, by the US Dept. of Agriculture upon arrival in New York! They should have left him/her at home with a sitter.)

Alas, the US geography and bureaucracy was mangled. Pelican Bay state penitentiary where Tommy was supposed to be serving his sentence is in California. But the city footage of the first trip to the USA is of New York, including the Roosevelt Island Tramway, a cable car across the East River. You don't just jump in your car and drive from Manhattan to Pelican Bay and back in one day! It would have made more sense for Tommy to have killed his victims in New York somewhere. Then he could have been arrested and put in the slammer at Sing Sing state prison in Ossining, NY, which is north of the city in the Hudson Valley.

I see what you meant about the "American" cast. FBI Agent Susan Block speaks very good English, but her pronunciation of forfeit, carcasses, and one other word stood out like sore thumbs. Her bureaucratic nemesis had a Germanic or Scandinavian accent... and was supposed to be from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Uh, we don't have minisitries in the USA. It almost sounded like he was from the NY Police Department's Internal Affairs investigation unit -- but NYPD wouldn't be in a position to take over an FBI case, let alone transfer jurisdiction to the in-house anti-corruption investigators. Picky, picky, I know -- but the wonky details undercut all the well-executed action back in China. -- To be honest, this probably made no difference to domestic viewers -- a much bigger audience than the US one. ;-)

As you mentioned, our heroine ran out of steam along with the plot, which is a pity. I really liked her initiative and persistence earlier in the story.

Oh, yeah -- the dialogue was snappy and humorous. Mr. Huo's deadpan delivery was great, and I liked his character's...

All in all, LOVE ME IF YOU DARE was great fun. Thanks for your hot tip! I definitely enjoyed my first contemporary Cdrama...

...while playing hooky from SPLENDID POLITICS. I'm about halfway through the 50 episodes, and it's been strangely appealing, and not just because of Cha Seung-Won as Gwang Hae. This show's spunky heroine survived volcanic eruptions at the Nagasaki sulfur mines and makes gunpowder...

Hi! ? I'm so glad you liked LMIYD! I completely agree with your assessment of the plot points. I have been craving another good contemporary C-drama ever since. Sunshine, the director's cut, was fun. I love Gu Man's work, especially Shan Shan Comes to Eat, which is almost Alice of life. Very slow build, but so fun. I am watching Refresh Man and My Amazing Boyfriend, but they have a slapstick feel. Fun, but a very exaggerated style. I wish that I could find another one like LMIYD. There is supposed to be a season 2. Hopefully, they'll keep the same cast.

Much activity in the yard, wife is setting her bricks for the flower beds. Once the beds are set, we can lay rock down. She hopes to be finished within two weeks.

Meanwhile, the backyard is in full bloom. Peonies, roses, and Clematis abound.

Speaking of jobs, I recently started working with a staffing company, We do ticket taking, ushers, bag checkers, etc. So far I've seen Amy Schumer in concert and worked a Monster Truck show at the beach this past weekend.

The company does work at various music festivals, so I am going to try to take as many of those as I can. It should make for an interesting summer.

Hi John,

The yard sounds lovely. Planted a large variety of herbs yesterday after several cold days of rain- 3 kinds of basil, 3 kinds of parsley, rosemary, oregano, thyme, mint, lemon balm ...in with the strawberries and wild raspberries. The purple flowers on the humongous chive plant are lovely. Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini and pumpkin will go in over Memorial Day weekend after we get the dirt turned.

God of Noodles is phenomenal - a surprise.

Thanks for the word on Love Song, enjoying the music, therapy, and semi-romance.

I miss She Was Pretty. After that drama, I don't exactly feel like watching any more. Oh... *sighs* What a shame it is that Siwon is in the army. He was my favorite actor of all time! Who else can make people laugh like he does? Even in the King of Dramas era, I laughed one too much because of Siwon, although I didn't exactly "like" him at the time.

Hi, LastJuniorStanding!

For me, Si-Won was the best part of SHE WAS PRETTY. Come to think of it, I watched SWP because I enjoyed his performance in HYANG DAN so much. Also in that short pseudo-saguek was Heo Jeong-Min as Bang-Ja, servant of the magistrate's son; he was in SHINE OR GO CRAZY, and is currently in ANOTHER MISS OH.) What a romp.

I also was surprised by how much I enjoyed Choi Si-Won in a Chinese costume drama called BATTLE OF WITS.

Hope this helps you survive his enlistment. Fighting! ;-)

Hi all:

God of Noodles: Me to drama: "WTF? Overly melodramatic much?" AND THEN, the drama focuses on the villain and moves away from the heroic protags...and I fall right in love with it again. The villain MAKES this drama; he's the only reason I stick around. It's stylish, but sometimes it just gets so unbelievable at times. More so than the usual.

Flower in Prison: Really liking this. It's not quite my drama crack but it's not disappointing me and I genuinely do not know where the plot is going.

Another Oh Hae Young: Predictable but love the quirky family/friendship dynamics. Am hoping Big Sis finds a true love. Other than that, there really isn't anything new to this, except the hero's flash-forward. And once again, waiting to see how the drama will make our hero a good guy by making heroine's (formerly) jailed ex a creep.

Mrs Cop: I wish I cared enough to watch the finale. I'm glad the writers reminded me again why I should hate the bad guy because I wasn't connecting to the police team. This is one plodding drama.

Unusual Family/Strange Family: A new daily I started watching. There is a good aunt and her selfish thieving niece. Three families with twenty-somethings who may or may not end up with each other, and with greedy class-conscious mothers.

Awaiting Mirror of the Witch.

Have a great weekend, all.

Hi, Carole...

You're reading my mind re: Soo-Kyung in ANOTHER MISS OH. Watching Jin-Sang volleying gibberish back and forth with her was great fun. And the gesticulating -- mama mia!

But then he translated.

Maybe Jin-Sang is as good a listener as his buddy...

Presumably he's known Soo-Kyung for as long as he's known her brother. I wouldn't be surprised if they become an item.

There's a precedent for guys falling for "aliens" in Kdramaland... I'm looking at you, Choi Han-Gyul. Soo-Kyung, phone home. ;-)

Everyone should watch Nirvana in Fire. That's all I have to say. Give it 10-15 episodes to familiarize yourself with the characters. It took me a while to get into it but I am loving every scene.

Greetings, Fiery Nirvana Fans...

I found some helpful background over at DramaPot, and am wondering if anyone has found recaps they enjoyed. I like to familiarize myself with characters, plots, etc., and don't mind spoilers. Not understanding what's going on is a bigger spoiler for me. My resistance to Cast-of-Thousands-itis is easily overwhelmed.

Thanks for any pointers. ;-)

For me, I fell into Nirvana in Fire instantly. No need to warm up through a couple of episodes, no half-hearted watching or spacing out through historic explanations... It's also SO beautiful cinematically. I thought all of the silvery greys and blues and pale lavenders were truly breathtaking. IF I were a blogger and trying to select screenshots, I think I would've had a hell of a time making up my mind with this drama.

The Chinese do court intrigue and revenge plots very very well. Many great dramas come to mind, NIF, Empresses in the Palace, etc.. but NIF is one of my favorites now, along with the Cantonese drama that came out a few years back, War and Beauty (also known as Beauty at War).

wow did I miss all the fun here?
Waiting for time to go home to watch two new shows - Dear my friends and Mirror of the Witch.
There was a production press conference for new JTBC drama 'Mirror of the Witch'. It is fantasy Sageuk about legendary Joseon doctor Hu Joon (during king Sunjo and Gwang hae's reign) and people? around him. The show interprets HJ in new light who treats people's mind, not just their physical health.[xportsnews, sports news]

The lead Yoon Si-yoon said on new Hu Joon in MOTW, "This is the drama describing how Joseon's famed doctor Hu Joon became Hu Joon. It starts with the imagination that He met a woman who he really wanted to protect and protect her happiness, and makes an effort to do so with passion, and eventually he became the famous HJ. People know the outcome of him becoming a renowned doctor, but I'd like to ask the viewer to watch how he reaches that path in fantasy way." He said he talked with PD Jo Hyun-tak (PD who did 'Maids') as to how to build up a new HJ character. "In Dongeuibogam (Famous medical book written by HJ), there is actually entry on how to be a ghost, how to be invisible, they say.. If the book is only about human body, it should be logical and realistic, but it mentioned such unrealistic stuff - why? All started from that idea. Hu Joon is a character who has interests not only in body, but also in mind and more."

About his return to drama after his army duty, he said, "Now the word 'return' feels real. Thanking that it took 2 years to sit on this seat, I feel fortunate and thankful." About his popular role Tak-gu in drama 'Kim Tak-gu' (2010), he said, "That was very special hat, but when I took off that hat, it left a mark. When I took off my hat, there were people who didn't recognize me. I think that is my reality... I am looking for a new hat since I am an actor. When I wear the new hat which fits like KTG, I think that mark will disappear. That attempt is Hu Joon in MOTW and I think it will be a cool hat for me."

The most 'hot' question was the age difference between Yoon Si-yoon and Kim Sae-ron. YSY defended Kim, "People mention if Kim Sae-ron is unnaturally trying to do an adult acting. But the lead character is 17 years old so I am 17 in the show. If you want to say bad things, you have to say to me. You can't touch our miss. Sae-ron. Since I am 17, I am the one causing trouble here, and Se-ron ssi is playing the role fitting her age." About romance, he said "There is grown-up love and boy and girl love. Boy and girl love is different from adult's love, and mixed with romance and friendship, which they share pain and fear/anxiety growing up. They protect each other, become a rest place to each other, and two don't even know if it is friendship or love, but they care for each other. That is what I think boy and girl's love.. If that is the case, I will have pure mind and renew the boyish emotion left in me, and I think I can create nice love...

love story" and he said "It might also be romantic and sweet but I wonder if we can expect the most pure love."

When this was asked to Kim Sae-ron, Ysy said to Kim "You got it right? Answer like I said before. Tell them I am nice, take good care of you and have a baby face. (You can do it) You do acting well." KSR said "He takes good care of me on the set, He is warm and have a baby face. (Really he made me feel at ease on the set) And maybe because he lives like a young person, I don't feel the age difference at all. Saguek is first for me, but people take good care of me on the set, so I am doing good. I felt great burden because it is first time, and worried a lot because Yeonhee and Suri are different characters. I will be lacking, but please watch me favorably." On the question if she exchanges advices with her closest friend Kim Yoo-jung(Angry mom), she said she talks to KYJ often, "But you don't give advice to your friend."

About ratings promise, YSY said "I lost my feel(intuition) when I came back after 2 years. I hope for 5%. If it passes 5%, I will go watch baseball with Gak Si-yang in Hanbok I wore in drama."
Lastly he said "There is title Witch, curse, pain, revenge -these things exist in the show, but eventually our drama hopes to talk about young people's fear and their hopes within that.. Even if it is Sageuk, it will be warm story telling about those young people, and that will be the color of this drama nicely wrapping up to the end.. Since this is fantasy, people can just have fun watching. In the end, it will be a drama which can ease anxiety and treat wound everyone has inside. I think people can just watch with trust. And you know, drama is more fun watching when airing than re-run."

Of course the sad news this week was Choi Seong-won (Duksun's brother Noeul in Reply 88) has leukemia (and pulled out from filming 'Mirror of the Witch'). He got hurt (not seriously) while filming, and went to hospital to get treated, and found out about his illness. He was playing Hu Joon's friend Jong-rae character. PD Jo said he will work with the writer and wrap up the character and create a new one. "Even though it is sad, production team feels fortunate about Choi's matter- What if he didn't get hurt and illness was not found out. All actors and staffs are cheering him and wish him to get well."

well,
It is nice Yoon Si-yoon try to defend Kim Sae-ron casting, I still feel uneasy. He said "She is playing her age role.", but wasn't it same way when Kim Yoo-jung played against Lee Je-hoon in Secret door? They defended she played her age role, but it failed horribly anyway. I just hope YSY can pull it off for his sake.

On dramaland, even though there is no drama I am anxiously waiting week after week, I am enjoying most of currently airing dramas, which includes 'Flower in the prison'. FIP seems to be excluded from the talk in DB (maybe due to unpopular Jin Se-yeon and Saguek genre), but I like the setting of the show (prison) and there is Jung Da-bin (16) who plays younger version of Ok Nyeo/Jin Se-yeon. Even though we are more familiar with Kim So-hyun (Page turner), Kim Yoo-jung (Angry Mom) and Kim Sae-rom (Mirror of The Witch) in similar age group who get lead roles, Jung Da-bin is an actress who is not far behind them. She debuted with Baskin-Robbins CF in 2003 (still called as 'Ice Cream girl' and already worked in industry for 13 years. We are familiar with her already as younger version of Hwang Jung-eum and her sister in 'She was pretty'. Here is some from interview. [OSEN news etc]
Q: How is your school life?
A: It was exam period in school when they had the first broadcast of FIP. My friends watched the show for me even postponing studying for the exam. These days I am called 'Ok-nyeo' in school. They tease me like 'Jung Ok-nyeo, wash the clothes.' When I worked on 'She was pretty', many friends watched, so I felt embarrassed. But FIP is a weekend drama and there are more grownups watching the show, so I feel less embarrassed. For 'She was pretty', many friends watched and asked me for spoilers for the show.
Q: You entered a high school this year. Anything different?
A: First, school life is different. It is harder to study and feel like I am more matured, including my looks.
Q: You chose regular high school not arts high school.
A: I wanted to study harder so I made that decision. I felt like I might become lazy if I chose otherwise.
Q: Did your mother find your acting talent?
A: I don't know when but I started to think I wanted to do the acting. There was time I took a break before I entered the grade school, but I felt something missing when I didn't do it. I felt something missing when I took a break after doing the drama 'I really really like you'. So I started again by doing the drama 'Il Ji Mae' and have continued to this day.
Q: When do you feel acting is your path?
A: First of all, going to the set is so much fun. I don't know when it started but I was having fun doing the acting and I even feel greedy I want to do more.
Q: Did you have puberty period?
A: I don't think so. When other friends talk about puberty, I think I played with my friends a lot- Chatting on the phone, chatting while eating Ddukbokgi. (There are so much things to say during that period?) right!
Q: You are in high school now. Is there any difficulty doing school life along with acting?
A: I couldn't go to school for 3 weeks, because exam period and shooting overlapped. I just went to school to take the test. It is coed school, but I haven't been able to talk with male friends yet. Oddly boys don't talk to me.
Q: Maybe boys don't...

Q: Maybe boys don't talk to you because you have a boyfriend?
A: I'd like to have a boyfriend, but nobody talks to me. When I said I dated, dad scolded me saying I should do it after I become a grown-up. So I said I dated in secret, and he said 'just don't get caught'. I don't even have first love. I have lots of so called 'male friends', but no boyfriend.

Q: How were you cast in FIP?
A: I got an offer from Production team, and I had a meeting with director-nim and writer-nim. When I had audition, I was so nervous that I couldn't think anything. I thought it would be nice if I could make it, but I didn't expect. So I was amazed and felt lost when I was chosen. I felt burdened, but mostly it didn't feel realistic that I was in.
Q: The show already had 20% ratings and became talk of the town/well-liked. It is not easy for Sageuk to have good ratings from the beginning. How do you feel?
A: I was surprised at this good ratings. It was different from 'She was pretty' which had popularity in the beginning of the show. I feel good to catch both of ratings and interests.
Q: In the show you play the role of a genius girl. Did you feel burden in expressing the genius part even if it is only in the show?
A: I paid lots of attention. It was not a character who goes around showing off her genius even though she was genius. PD-nim also asked me to 'Do not pretend you know all, you have to express not making her a turn-off'. Always smiling, saying daringly, expressing without showing off or pissing people off was difficult.

Q: What PD Lee Byung-hoon said?
A: When I heard I was cast in FIP, I felt burdened. I was the only child actor, and I had to kind of leading the show until episode 4. I have received the lesson from PD-nim for a month. I learned to use deep breath, and catch/get used to the tone of conversation. When I went to the set after all that, people complemented me and cheered for me.
Q: What direction did he give you to play Ok-nyeo role?
A: He told me to smile. She can't look ugly, can't frown, so I ran around smiling wide.
Q: Did you have a chance to meet Jin Se-yeon who has the same role? Did she say anything?
A: I met her coming and going to the set. She complemented that I did it well. Se-yeon Unni always complements a lot.
Q: People showed interests when you were cast as child actress for Jin Se-yeon. Did you have a contact with her?
A: Unfortunately I didn't contact her after the first broadcast. I don't know her contact address. But I met Se-yeon unni on the set before. She always complements that I am doing well. It was encouragement for me. I wish I could meet her again.
Q: You worked with Go Soo. It must be different working with the actor who played the grown up role rather than same child actor.
A: I was amazed. He is so handsome. My friends were all envious when I worked with uncle Go Soo. They seemed to even more envious of me after show aired.

Q: Go Soo calls you 'Ggomang-yi'(tiny) in the show. How do you call him?
A: I think I just looked at him not knowing if I have to call him Oppa or Uncle (She was shocked to hear that Go Soo debuted even before Jung Da-bin was born). On the set, uncle Go Soo said 'Oppa ga', but people around us said 'No, you are not Oppa, you are Uncle.' But I still don't know how to call him.
Q: You debuted such a young age, but these days there are even younger guys making debut.
A: When I see those in the show who are same age or younger than me, I am amazed thinking 'Oh, I must be aged.' It is amazing considering I am 17. Recently I went to an occasion in China, and Taeo (Actor Ricky Kim's son) called me 'Imo'(aunt). So I said 'No, I am Noona(older sis)', but he was so adorable.

Q:You only did 4 episodes of FIP. Is there any scene you remember the most?
A: It is the scene I was captured by robbers (ep 2). Emoting/expressing feelings, and Lines were all difficult. We shoot for over 6 hours, and I caught a cold so I had bad condition. I worried a lot if I could finish ok. I kept having runny nose, and I had to digest emotion scenes I cry, so I had hard time. That time I was sick so I felt sad that I kept teared up. Of course crying was acting 80%, but 20% reflected my sad feeling.
Q: You have a scene you learned the martial arts in ep 3.
A: I learned to do action scene attending the action school. While learning I realized I am really Momchi(stiff). I have never done martial arts so it was difficult. I did dancing once, but people told me not to because my legs kept spreading. Still I got used to do the martial arts, and I could do it easily on the set. I'd like to do an action dealing with a sword next time.

Q: You seem like having extra ordinary passion about acting for a teenage girl. What is acting to you?
A: Something I can't have without. When I started acting when I was 5-6 years old, I didn't want to do it. Felt too sleepy and tired. I did without any thinking that time. But when I entered the grade school and I didn't work, I felt something missing. It is something I have to do, and that is why I am doing it -so far having fun.
Q: You worked in the Saguek like 'Il jimae' 'Kingdom of the wind' 'Deep rooted tree', 'King's dream'. Situation of Saegeuk sets is painful, different from the mini-series, do you want to avoid Sageuk?
A: Saguek is hard to do for sure, but I'd like to do it again. There is one character in FIP who I want to do very much. That is Jung Nan-jung (currently played by Park Ju-mi). She is an evil character which you can't do in real life. I can't do it right now, but when I become grown-up and have experience, I'd like to play one for sure.

Q: Actually if actress Jung Da-bin reminds people 'Ice Cream girl'. Is that nick uncomfortable?
A: No. I think that is because no one remembers me from my projects. Even if they remember me that way, remembering alone is thankful. And I think FIP might be an opportunity to replace that 'Ice Cream girl' image.
This is first project I did after I became high schooler. I really learned a lot about acting from PD-nim. I think this will be turning point for my acting and personal life.

Q: What project or first character you want to play as a grown-up actress?
A: I'd like to a high teen romance. I thought I wanted to do the role like Suzi unni in 'Architecture 101'.
Q: When do you think you are happy becoming an actress.
A: Currently. After I shot FIP, people complemented, and said good things, I am satisfied and happy. (Do you read comments?) Yes I read them all. (Which comment did you liked the most?) I remember a comment which said I had pretty eyes. She said when she watched my eyes, she could tell I could do emotion acting well and make people immersed.

Q: Before Jin Se-yeon, She played child version of female leads-Choi Ji-woo (star's lover), Lee Da-hae (Mr. Reply), Seo woo(glass mask), Chae Jung-an(Prime minister and me), Kim So-hyun(Falling for Innocence), Hywan Jung-eum(She was pretty). Don't you want to do the project which has your name rather than playing someone's child character?
A: No, I haven't thought that. In my age I don't think it is bad to play someone's child character. Of course I will do if there is a good project that I can digest playing the character who is not a child. But I am not picky choosing characters to play.
Q: If you are to play someone's younger character again, which actress you want to do?
A: I want to play Jun Ji-hyun unni's younger character. Unni is cheerful, beautiful and pure/clean. So I'd like to play child version of her. I am real unni's fan.
Q: You will be twenty 3 years from now. When you are grown-up, what role you want to play?
A: When I become adult actress, I'd like to play an evil character. I'd like to play character like Yeon Min-jun(Lee Yoo-ri) in Jang Bo ri. It will be difficult. But once I get enough experience, I plan to do it.
Q: Is there a role model actress?
A: My role model is Kim Hae-sook sunsaeng-nim. In drama 'Life is beautiful'(2010), I worked with her. Teacher Kim I saw that time- any kind of acting fitted her well. I really wanted to be like her. I also want to become an actress who can master playing a character no matter what it is like wearing my own clothes.

Thank you, fan, I so appreciate the time you put into these translations.

I first encountered Jung Da-bin in I Really Really Like You, and she still reminds me so much of that smart little kindergarten girl. I wish she could've stayed longer in FIP.

Also, to me and (I think) a lot of international fans who don't see the Korean CFs, "ice-cream girl" is Wang Ji-hye's character in Protect the Boss. I'll always remember her fondly as one of the first lovable second leads.
