The Best Hit: Episodes 17-18
by gummimochi
It’s the string of humor followed by lovely contemplative moments offered in every hour that often makes me feel that The Best Hit could go on forever. But time waits for no one, making it the most valuable commodity for our characters to spend. Opportunities will be swift and unforgiving for everyone—if they wait too long, all they’ll be left with is a bowl of bloated noodles and regret.
EPISODE 17 RECAP
Ji-hoon confesses his feelings to Woo-seung, adding that these aren’t recently developed emotions—he’s liked her for a long time now. He’s not looking for an answer right away because he knows she needs time to process this information, but Woo-seung cuts him off and backs away, ready to give her answer now.
“Sorry, Lee Ji-hoon, I don’t think of you as a man,” she replies, believing that it’s best to be upfront. She heads for the door, but when she opens it, Hyun-jae tumbles outside, hides the bowl of jajangmyun behind him, and says he didn’t mean to eavesdrop in on their conversation. She steps inside anyway, and Ji-hoon lets out a dejected sigh.
While Woo-seung pulls her hair in frustration over Ji-hoon’s confession in her room, Hyun-jae also mulls over the confession and digs into the now solid block of bloated jajangmyun that was meant for Woo-seung.
Afterward, Hyun-jae spots Ji-hoon curled up on his bed. He turns to leave Ji-hoon alone, but then whips around to admit that he’s terrible at doling out comfort because he’s never been rejected by a girl before. Eep, not helping.
He tries giving Ji-hoon the ol’ speech that “there are plenty of fish in the sea,” but those words hurt more than they help, and Ji-hoon closes the divider in Hyun-jae’s face. Tonight’s confession keeps the boys and Woo-seung up all night, and in the morning, Woo-seung quietly slips out of the apartment (and ha, MC Drill belts out Taeyang’s “Eyes, Nose, Lips” in the bathroom).
She’s spooked when Ji-hoon happens to return from his morning jog just then, and he asks if she’s decided to avoid him by leaving early this morning. She denies it and bluntly reminds him that he was the one who was rejected. She feels bad when he admits that’s true, but Ji-hoon declares that he plans to do as his heart tells him from here on out.
“I won’t give up on you,” he clarifies. It may have been Woo-seung’s prerogative to reject him, but he’s free to keep liking her. To that, Woo-seung acknowledges that he has a good eye for women, but as friends, she believes there are boundaries that should never be crossed.
But Ji-hoon no longer wants to settle for being friends—it took him eight years to tell her how he feels, so he won’t give up that easily. He heads inside where MC Drill stands on the other side of the door and asks him if everything he overheard is true.
While Woo-seung is distracted at work, Ji-hoon catches Hyun-jae trying to sneak into Woo-seung’s room. Hyun-jae pretends to be exercising on the steps and asks why Ji-hoon is still at home.
Hyun-jae stops in his tracks upon hearing that Ji-hoon quit the trainee life. Thinking that Ji-hoon has succumbed to Dad’s opposition than leading his own life, he asks how Ji-hoon’s biological father would feel knowing that his son chose to live in frustration. “Wouldn’t he tell you ‘please get a grip’?” Hyun-jae huffs.
Annoyed at hearing Hyun-jae speaks of his late father, Ji-hoon replies in an acerbic tone, reminding Hyun-jae that he’s just a burdensome amnesiac. Insulted, Hyun-jae throws his towel to the floor, where a cockroach crawls at their feet.
Both Hyun-jae and Ji-hoon freak out and jump on the bed. Neither of them notices that the force pushes the missing broken watch out from under the bed, but they do hold each other for a few moments gripped in terror before breaking apart.
The boys are screaming at each other on the bed when Mal-sook comes in looking for Ji-hoon to help her with her homework. The frightened pair of oppas point to the cockroach on the floor, so she immediately kills it with her workbook and picks up the dead insect with a tissue.
Now that the danger has passed, Hyun-jae and Ji-hoon’s bravado returns and instructs her to throw out the bug. While Ji-hoon helps Mal-sook outside, Hyun-jae opts to check his online fan cafe and sees that the last internet search query was “how to get out of the friend zone.”
Just then, Ji-hoon rushes inside to hurriedly close the laptop, calling this an invasion of privacy. Hyun-jae scoffs at Ji-hoon’s lie that this search query wasn’t his, adding that Ji-hoon doesn’t need to rely on the internet for an answer when he’s got a dating expert sitting here before him.
Now it’s Ji-hoon’s turn to scoff, but he acutely tunes into Hyun-jae pinpointing that the problem is that Ji-hoon and Woo-seung are too comfortable as friends. According to Hyun-jae, what Ji-hoon needs to do is create an opportunity for natural skinship. Or shall we say cheesy ’90s-style skinship, and he uses Ji-hoon to demonstrate his first tip: point out “What’s that on your lip?” and use a thumb to wipe the girl’s lips.
Ji-hoon sputters in disgust, but Hyun-jae immediately moves on to his next move: literally knocking a girl off her feet and catching her in a dramatic dip, topped off with a wink and the line “Be careful, or you’ll fall.” His point is that all it takes is one suave move to make a girl fall in love with him and that physical closeness leads to romantic interest.
Ji-hoon thanks him for the unhelpful advice and leaves to help out at the bakery. Once he’s alone, Hyun-jae’s smile fades, and he wonders aloud with a tiny sigh: “I suppose it’s good to help those two get together.” Oh?
Kwang-jae is both surprised and disheartened to see Ji-hoon working at the bakery, since his last advice was for Ji-hoon to pursue whatever he wanted to do with his life. Ji-hoon reassures him that working here is what he wants to do right now and ushers Dad out to take a break.
Moments later, the trio of MJ’s fangirls enters the bakery. They happily recognize Ji-hoon and sadly conclude that his presence here must mean that he didn’t make the cut. But they do admire his good looks and secretly snap a few photos of him to upload online.
Meanwhile, Hyun-jae enters Woo-seung’s room and sees the doll he won for her from the claw machine on its head on her desk. After putting it back upright and cleaning up her desk, he hunkers down to peel back the flooring to reveal the hidden safe.
He forces the hatch open and looks inside and gasps… to discover that it’s empty. Kwang-jae isn’t surprised when he learns from Hyun-jae at the convenience store later that the money is gone. He figures Other Hyun-jae spent it all because he knows of Hyun-jae’s past spending habits all too well.
But Hyun-jae is convinced that his other self couldn’t have burned through all that cash in a year. His gut tells him that the money must be someplace else, and Kwang-jae leans in and tells him that his gut instinct is useless now.
Over at Star Punch, Young-jae yells at MJ’s manager for not keeping a sharper eye out on the pre-debut team. Evidently, one of the members was arrested on drunk driving charges and now they have an open spot to fill. He refuses to pick from the trainees who didn’t make the final cut and wonders if they can bring in a trainee from a different agency.
Remembering how Woo-seung’s ideal vacation was to kick her feet up in a hammock on an island, Ji-hoon sets up a hammock for her on the rooftop. He declines Hyun-jae’s help when the latter sees him struggle, wanting to do this on his own.
Curiosity eating at him, Hyun-jae asks why Ji-hoon likes Woo-seung so much. He doesn’t believe Ji-hoon’s answer that there is no particular reason, but he does accept Ji-hoon’s forthrightness that he likes Woo-seung, period.
Hyun-jae shoves him aside to help him hang up the hammock, and when Ji-hoon bosses him around, he starts to wonder who Ji-hoon takes after before dropping the subject.
At the office, Woo-seung and her boss prepare a powerpoint presentation on MJ’s next album concept and connects her laptop to the projector prior to the meeting. But her messenger app is still on during the actual meeting and a desktop notification from Hyun-jae pops up on screen for everyone to see.
Woo-seung tries to be discreet, but Hyun-jae—who is saved as “Thumbs Up” in her contacts—sends another message asking if that jerk MJ is still treating her like an underling. Cue the “Underling” aka Ji-hoon, asking her to call him after work because he has something to show her.
Embarrassed, Woo-seung closes her laptop while MJ guesses that she must be in a love triangle with “Thumbs Up” (dda-bong) and “Underling” (kko-bong). The common syllable the nicknames share makes him think of “ssang-bong” or “double-stick,” and he stows away that lame pun for future use. Back at home, Hyun-jae and Ji-hoon wonder why Woo-seung hasn’t replied.
He approaches Woo-seung after the meeting, asking if she acts nice to him to his face while bad-mouthing him behind his back. He drops his phone on the desk and warns her that she’s doomed if she’s lying to him, so she admits she did make a few negative comments about him.
He instructs her to clean up later because he plans on taking a short nap here, and as soon as he’s out of sight, his stern expression turns into an amused smile. Woo-seung scowls and picks up the phone on the desk, thinking that it’s hers.
MC Drills stops her on her way out of the conference room to bark that he won’t dare to see things work out between her and Ji-hoon. He can’t bear to see his buddy give up on his dream and ruin his life over a girl, then orders her to follow him up to the roof, but Woo-seung walks away from him instead.
She returns home to find Ji-hoon waiting for her with an array of tropical fruit and the hammock set up outside. She takes a seat and sweetly tells him, “‘Ji-hoon, I had no idea you would care for me this much. Seeing this hammock makes me like you!'” before matter-of-factly telling him that better not be what he was expecting to hear.
Ji-hoon masks his disappointment and reiterates that he won’t hide his feelings for her anymore, but Woo-seung knows that all this lovey-dovey behavior makes him feel embarrassed and shy.
He says that’s not true, but then he sees a trickle of watermelon juice spilling down her chin. Recalling Hyun-jae’s tips on skinship, he reaches over to wipe her chin, but the touch startles Woo-seung, and she spits up watermelon seeds on his face.
She demands to know who taught him that tacky and dated pick-up line: “It was Thumbs Up, wasn’t it?!” Hyun-jae, who happened to witness that moment from the slightly ajar door, rushes back inside. Woo-seung points out how awkward that forced move makes her feel and asks if they can’t continue being good friends.
She sighs when Ji-hoon refuses, and he urges her to try out the hammock. He helps her in and catches her when she slips. She immediately swats him away, saying to act like he normally does, then asks for her bag to use as a pillow to settle in.
Satisfied, Woo-seung admits that the hammock is comfortable. Seeing her so happy makes Ji-hoon smile.
MJ swings by Young-jae’s empty office and wonders why his agency CEO is almost always absent. He settles into Young-jae’s chair and charges what he think is his phone, only to discover that it’s actually Woo-seung’s. He calls his manager to track down her address.
That’s how MJ ends up outside the nearby World Agency building, which he remarks is so close that he could’ve walked here. He heads up to the roof just as Ji-hoon steps outside to tell Woo-seung to “shower first” (which is typically something couples tell each other before sexy times).
He awkwardly asks if this is a bad time, and Woo-seung climbs out of the hammock and stammers defensively at MJ that this isn’t what it looks like. MJ recognizes Ji-hoon from Star Punch and learns that Ji-hoon has quit the agency.
He then declares that his business here is to get his phone back, and Woo-seung is about to return his phone when MC Drill marches in. Guessing that MC Drill is the notorious “Thumbs Up” and Ji-hoon is the “Underling,” MJ uses his lame “double-stick” joke.
Inside, Hyun-jae peruses photos of MJ, wondering how he’ll ever get to hear his side of the story when it’s near impossible to approach a star like him. He surmises, “Should I just barge into Young-jae’s office?”
EPISODE 18 RECAP
Woo-seung starts up the job search, believing that her internship at Star Punch will soon come to an end. Hyun-jae appears with a can of beer he swiped from MC Drill’s secret stash, and they toast.
He takes a few steps before noting that Ji-hoon seems to like her a great deal, and when she says she likes Ji-hoon as a friend, he says there’s no such thing as friendship between a man and a woman.
She sighs that it must be nice for Hyun-jae to have a simple-minded perspective on life, but Hyun-jae counters that it’s her and Ji-hoon who are making their own lives complicated. He doesn’t understand why Woo-seung rejected Ji-hoon so coldly, and she explains that Ji-hoon is all she has left and doesn’t want to risk losing him by going out with him.
She tells Hyun-jae to find his way home soon because she shared too much with him, and then shuffles back inside. Hyun-jae admits to himself that those were hurtful words before shaking himself out of those thoughts.
The next day, Woo-seung hands over her camera to Ji-hoon as collateral until she can pay him this month’s rent. She declines his leniency, believing that they should set clear boundaries especially when things are awkward between them. So Ji-hoon accepts and snaps a photo of her to test out the camera before she heads out.
Downstairs in the bakery, Grandpa is busy trying to persuade Kwang-jae to apologize to Young-jae and accept his standing offer to lend them the money they need. But Kwang-jae stands firm on his refusal to accept a dime from Young-jae, arguing that he’d rather take out a private loan instead. Knowing that this conversation is going nowhere, Grandpa walks away in a huff.
Neither of them is aware that Bo-hee has overheard their entire argument, and Grandpa heads up to the roof to drink away his disappointment. He polishes off the bottle and drunkenly climbs into the hammock to take an afternoon nap.
Hours later, Mal-sook comes up to collect him and her jaw drops at Grandpa’s half-sunburned face. He later worries about his appearance in the bathroom because he’s promised to officiate a wedding.
Bo-hee sits down with Young-jae in his office, where he makes a big deal out of serving her fancy tea, only to learn that he already consumed it all.
She admires his success and cuts to the chase, asking him to lend them the money they need to prevent the bank from seizing the World Agency building. Young-jae hems and haws for a bit, then tells her that he’ll just give her the money instead.
It’s only when Bo-hee thinks back to that conversation during dinner do we learn what Young-jae’s offer was: he’ll give her the money if she signs a contract with Star Punch.
But Bo-hee isn’t the only one with something on her mind at the dinner table—Mal-sook confesses that she has a crush on a popular boy at school and asks, “What do you think love is?”
Mal-sook describes her emotions like a pain ointment slathered over her heart, and when Bo-hee empathizes with that feeling, she asks if Bo-hee gets that same feeling. She dejectedly says she lost her appetite before chomping down on her food, which makes Bo-hee softly laugh.
Hyun-jae is lying in the hammock when his beeper notifies him of the same incoming message as the previous time. He presses a button to see the date and time and notices that both messages arrived at 1:20 AM—the same time his watch stopped.
Grandpa notices his granddaughter Mal-sook is in low spirits when she helps him apply cucumber slices on his half-sunburned face. He encourages her to share her woes and even agrees to let her use his phone if she tells him, but she grumbles that Grandpa won’t be able to understand and turns to Bo-hee instead. Bo-hee agrees to let Mal-sook play with her phone and unlocks the keypad with the digits: 22198.
Woo-seung is passive-aggressively persuaded to join the Star Punch employees on a hike today. She complains to the boys about giving up her free day like this, but declines Ji-hoon’s offer to accompany her.
Hyun-jae points out that her sneakers aren’t ideal for a hike, and she snaps back that he can buy her some hiking boots then.
Hyun-jae finds the bakery bustling with customers, and when a pair of high school girls ask when the other handsome part-timer starts his shift, he shoots back a joke at them. The girls mutter in abbreviated slang at how lame his joke is.
Upstairs, Ji-hoon is confused when he answers a call and hears the voices of excited fangirls on the other end. His phone number must’ve gone public because there are countless messages from fangirls who wish to meet him, and then MC Drill calls to share the happy news that Ji-hoon is internet-famous.
Apparently someone uploaded a series of photos of Ji-hoon on social media, which has since gone viral online. His fans have even given him the nickname Part-timer “Oppang” (a play on words of “oppa” and “bread” aka bbang), and Ji-hoon hangs up to check the photos for himself.
Woo-seung works up a sweat on the hike with the other employees, struggling in her sneakers and sneaking in time to study her notes. But on the way down, she slips and twists her ankle. She urges the employee willing to help her to go on without her, and she takes a short break before continuing the journey down the mountain at a gingerly pace.
Kwang-jae looks for Bo-hee in her room, and although she isn’t there, he discovers the Star Punch contract. He waits in the living room until she returns to confront her about it, asking how she could make him feel so small about their debt by meeting with Young-jae behind his back. But Bo-hee says the meeting was for her and announces that she’s moving agencies.
That’s even harder news for Kwang-jae to swallow, and Bo-hee says Star Punch has promised to produce an album for her right away. Infuriated, Kwang-jae storms out to confront Young-jae, and Grandpa remarks that Kwang-jae always creates trouble whenever he sees red.
Kwang-jae stares up at the Star Punch building for a few minutes before storming into Young-jae’s office and interrupting his putting green practice. Alarmed, Young-jae asks him what this is about, and a few seconds pass before Kwang-jae says, “I’m begging you.”
Young-jae wonders if Kwang-jae is here asking for money again, but that’s not what Kwang-jae is here for: “I’m talking about Bo-hee. Please take good care of her.”
His voice breaking and on the brink of tears, Kwang-jae admits that Bo-hee’s talents are being wasted at World Agency and pleads with Young-jae to ensure Bo-hee a successful comeback.
Woo-seung parts ways with the Star Punch employees, reassuring them that she’s waiting for a friend to pick her up. She picks up her phone and contemplates calling Ji-hoon, but then changes her mind and calls Hyun-jae instead, offering to erase the rest of his debt if he picks up her up in the mountains.
Hyun-jae is on the road with the idol girl group when he picks up, and after he drops the girls off at their destination, he realizes that this is an opportunity for Ji-hoon to sweep Woo-seung off her feet.
He tries calling Ji-hoon, saying,”Your dad is going to back you up.” But when Ji-hoon doesn’t pick up, he sends a text telling him to go pick up Woo-seung waiting in the mountains with an injured ankle.
But Ji-hoon doesn’t get that message because he’s turned his phone off to stave off the endless calls and messages he’s been bombarded with all day. This means MC Drill has to seek him out in person to tell him the happy news that Star Punch has gotten wind of Ji-hoon’s internet fame and wants to see him.
Pulling him into a hug, MC Drill says this could be Ji-hoon’s last chance. Ji-hoon is on his way out to the agency when Hyun-jae arrives home, and he thinks Hyun-jae is talking about MC Drill’s news when he’s asked if he “got the message.”
It doesn’t help when Hyun-jae calls it “an opportunity” and urges him to hurry. Hyun-jae huffs when Ji-hoon leaves without thanking him for creating this great opportunity to go get Woo-seung. He sighs, then tells himself again that it’s good if things work out between Ji-hoon and Woo-seung. To make matters worse, Woo-seung’s phone dies while she waits in the mountains. She worries if Hyun-jae is on his way, then carefully hobbles down the steps.
Later that night, Hyun-jae finds MC Drill praying for Ji-hoon, explaining that he’ll be part of the debut team if he passes his final audition. Realizing that means Woo-seung is still waiting, Hyun-jae runs out.
Over in Young-jae’s office, MJ’s manager comments on how the stars aligned for both parties: just when they needed to fill an empty spot, Ji-hoon became internet-famous. He advises Ji-hoon to show Young-jae all of his talents tonight, and Ji-hoon says he has a few songs saved on his phone.
So when the manager steps out to grab Young-jae, Ji-hoon turns on his phone and belatedly reads Hyun-jae’s message about Woo-seung waiting for him in the mountains. He runs out of the office as Hyun-jae runs through the streets, and Woo-seung waits for anybody to come for her.
Epilogue
Grandpa follows through to officiate that wedding he worried about, where he speaks of duplicitous nature of man. He advises the couple not to be two-faced to one another, but his own half-burned face frightens a little girl in the audience, who cries in her seat.
COMMENTS
As someone who would’ve been perfectly happy without a main love triangle, I’m honestly unsure of how I feel about The Best Hit pitting Hyun-jae and Ji-hoon as rivals in love. But this hour and the cliffhanger drills in the notion that these two characters may soon be dueling it out for Woo-seung’s attention (and perhaps even affection), even if one of them doesn’t know it yet.
I’m wary about extrapolating the threads of Hyun-jae’s reactions of playing Cupid for Ji-hoon and Woo-seung and attributing that as Hyun-jae trying to bury any growing feelings for her because those moments alone aren’t enough for me to draw that conclusion. If anything, I might be disheartened if Hyun-jae does fall for Woo-seung in 2017, not because of any weirdness of a same-age dad liking the same girl as his alleged son, but because I’d prefer that Hyun-jae’s purpose and influence in the present extend further than a traditional romance.
So while Hyun-jae is harder to read at present, Ji-hoon remains open about his feelings for Woo-seung. I thought Woo-seung’s straightforward rejection made her a good friend, but I was even more impressed by Ji-hoon for calling her out on her behavior toward him the following morning. I can’t blame Woo-seung for not being a better friend by moving out because she honestly doesn’t have the financial means to do so. And while I sympathized with her fear of abandonment if she risked her friendship with Ji-hoon if she ever went out with him, I have to wonder if that fear, whilst understandable, is keeping her from actually taking the next step with him.
But if there’s one lesson that this episode wanted us to learn over and over again is that timing plays a crucial role when opportunities are at play. Wait too long and you’ll miss the golden window (like Ji-hoon’s confession and subsequent rejection) or sometimes the circumstances have to align for another chance (like Ji-hoon’s shot at the debut team). But then there are times when one must take a chance at that very moment, like Ji-hoon abandoning his audition created by his fifteen minutes of fame to go after Woo-seung.
Then there’s Kwang-jae and Bo-hee in the older generation. I was fully prepared to watch Kwang-jae fly off the handle again and give Young-jae a piece of mind for trying to steal Bo-hee away. But it takes a greater amount of courage for him to step aside and let Bo-hee accept an opportunity he knows will hold a brighter future for her than spending any more time trying to fulfill a promise to her he’s tried decades to see through.
Speaking of Bo-hee, my mind is still trying to process how her keypad lock is an exact match to the digits that appear on Hyun-jae’s beeper. We still don’t know what supernatural force is at work that allows the beeper to even work in this century, but that’s not the only mystery that’s hanging over Hyun-jae’s head because now a large sum of money has officially gone missing. Would it be too much to hope that another clue will magically appear in Hyun-jae’s music notebook?

maybe I'm just mentally weak, but I don't think I've felt this anxious about a drama love polygon since reply 1994... and look how that ended :(

Nope, not just you, 'cause I don't think I even got this angry at the Answer Me love triangles for NOT PICKING A DARN SIDE ALREADY! Pardon my outburst... it's just that I know chances are I'm on the wrong ship (is it second lead syndrome if you're rooting for the lead?), and at this point, if it's not meant to be, I'd much rather they just put me out of my misery.

Thank God, it's not just me. I found myself so infuriated with this week's episodes when this drama used to be my relaxing show. I now understand the feels of picking the wrong side of the triangle.

Totally agree with you, & I'm in sync with your outburst. The show should stop juggling the audience along with its character.
Just let something definitive happen already!!

I kind of feel like whatever happens with these three, it'll be okay. Ji Hoon's the most volatile, and he's picked the wrong time and subject to be decisive about (he gets frustrated by his career so decides to "not give up" on a girl who told him to back off? Down, boy). Woo Seung seems driven and steady and blunt, but was also determined not to let the confession derail her, so I think she'll make her friendship with Ji Hoon work no matter what form it takes.
Hyun Jae's the wildcard here, but also a complete chameleon. It seems his strongest survival skill is adaptation, and he doesn't get precious about what parts of his own personality or perception he has to adjust to survive in new circumstances. So no matter what happens, it feel like he'll adjust. Ji Hoon and Woo Seung date? He'll congratulate himself for wingmanning for his son. He never goes back to the past? He'll just forge an identity here. He has to work as a baker? He'll charm the pants off of anyone who comes in the door.
The Reply series gave me heartburn because that felt like it would cause a fracture in the friendships. But here? They're a gang of survivors, mostly, so they'll just figure it out.

Completely agree with you! When JH confessed I immediately dreaded that she was going to turn into the typical Kdrama heroine who suddenly doesn't know (or have?) her own thoughts. But yay! She was honest, clear and concise about what she wanted. JH on the other hand....boy, no means no, and to continue to press the matter turns you into a stalker. Don't do that!
When she told JH that she didn't want to risk losing the friendship if things didn't work out, it was a totally valid reason to pass on dating him. Because at the root of it, the fact that she was feeling that says deep down she knows that a relationship with him won't likely last. Again, good girl! Love it that - rather than jumping into an ill-conceived relationship with her good friend - she makes a healthy, wise decision. Don't jump into anything before you're sure it'll go the distance.
And honestly, JH is floundering in life. He should use his energy to get his career sorted out before he focuses on settling down. Then she might feel different about his prospects as a mate.

Part of the reason why she was feeling that the relationship wouldn't last was because of her mom, who keeps falling for guys who leave her. And Woo-seung having all these different last names and having to change schools all the time was a result of her mom chasing after some boyfriend. She's staying at JH's place because when she was about to ask her mom to stay at her place, her mom hung up on her with the parting message that she's gotten back with an ex. Then, that mom finally calls back to mooch off her daughter. To her mom, these romances were more important than caring about her child. We've also got a "romantic relationships suck" example in Bo Hee - who was left pregnant and abandoned by HJ. In contrast, something like Bo Hee and Kwang-Jae's non-romantic relationship seems to work and has lasted 23+ years.
I don't think she can pursue a romance with JH or anyone until that trauma is somehow resolved.

I don't think it's about 'healing' per-say, but walking a different path than her mother did. Due to her upbringing she has to doubt whether he'd be a stable partner. She's seen what that does to a family.
But -- after thinking about it -- I'm coming around to see it like GF (in the 'What We're Watching' feature.)
Deep character analysis is probably a bit too serious for what this show is really trying to achieve...
I'm starting to think the show's central conflict isn't as much Reply 1988 as it is Misaeng: How do uncredentialed people who've been kicked around by life find a way to gain traction in this world?
Along the way it's like a collage of weekly SNL-like satirical skits on:
The 'who is it' conflict from Reply 1988.
The plight of temporary workers.
Beta males (and females).
The anti-enrepreneurial folly of a professional culture that only respects people with wealth or high-level academic credentials.
The entertainment industry.
Stars and their images.
The fandom.
The reversal of traditional gender roles (the main theme of the latest episode).
It's brilliant how they've been able to weave the weekly themes into a cohesive overall narrative arc.

Oh dear, gummi, your discussion of 'timing' just gave me the chills as it's reminiscent of Reply 1988's husband hunt shenanigans. Please don't go there, show.
I laughed a little harder than I should at Grandpa's half-half face. It would be perfect if CEO Byun showed up in Suspicious Partners with that face.

The Reply 1988 deja vu was strong is this episode. All I could think while watching Hyunjae and Jihoon was that someone was Taek (got the timing right) and someone was Junghwan (missed the timing). Now, the question is who's who.

In 1988, Junghwan originally blamed timing, but then realized that the reason why the timing was bad was because he hesitated every time he had a chance. He contributed greatly to that bad timing with his cowardice. I think JH has a better chance now that he got himself to confess and is working hard to show WS how much he likes her. He isn't giving up.

The husband hunt in Reply 1988 wasn't bad. It was very soft. I really like it. And Reply 1994 hunt husband was bad if you was in the wrong ship. For me in Reply 1994 it was very obvious who was the husband so I never feel anxious.

I'm pretty happy with the slowly-building reveal that Hyun Jae has feelings for Woo Seung. He's the type of effortlessly charismatic guy who might act on it, might not, and I'm entertained by him trying to wingman for Ji Hoon at the same time.
Ji Hoon... Man, sometimes it just won't work out for you. Korean dramas tend to lean heavily on the idea that if you've liked someone for ages it'll all work out in the end, but in reality that's not true. The vast majority of us crush on a friend for years or decades, and sometimes we confess or kiss, and then it fizzles or flat-out never happens. Ji Hoon's decade of slow-burn crush doesn't necessarily merit response. It's sweet, but has its limits.
This doesn't even feel like a love triangle to me, because it's got too many elements ricocheting around to qualify. Ji Hoon's side is probably the most straightforward part. Both Woo Seung and Hyun Jae are much more erratic, with different (valid!) reasons for acting the way they do, and besides the two of them don't even realize they like each other yet. But overall this story reminds me a lot more of the mixed-up relationships of friend groups I knew as a student, so I'm enjoying it.
I don't want Hyun Jae to go back to the past anymore, at all. I don't want any of the present state untangling, and it seems like he's a better person in the modern day than he was in the past. I want him to stay.

That's what I'm seeing, at least - he's concerned for her in a way that sidles right up against the line of romantic interest. I really appreciate the way they're showing it though. Instead of overt interest, he just goes that little bit over and above in their interactions, like when he puts the mascot head on her when she's crying. Or when she's blind and he's helping out at the store.
The big tell was the food/sighing combo though. He remembered the details of that story enough to think of the store, then raced home to give the food to her, and then the final whistle and sigh really sealed the deal. Out of all the options (call and tell her he saw the store, text and tell her to come home because he brought her noodles from the store, etc) he apparently wanted to surprise her with something that would please her. So he's not excited about finding the food at that point, he's excited about pleasing her. Huge, huuuuge tell.
He may not know he likes her, but he likes her. And he might not be thrilled about that fact either! But yeah, he likes her.

" when he puts the mascot head on her when she's crying. " that was the best part. What he did was so appreciative.

I hate love triangle, but this show has the foreshadowing of this trope since the first episode, and it's kinda a relieve it's out it the open now. But, show being what it is, there's a slim chance that Hyun-jae is not really in love with Woo-seung..?
Also, so far the angst is pretty minimum, I can still stomach it. Love how matter-of-fact Woo-seung and Ji-hoon with each other and their own feelings. Woo-seung's fear of changing the only constant thing in her life is very understandable, her past experience probably makes her feel is a bad girlfriend but a good best friend. Am believing that these two's bond is strong enough to endure whatever change coming.
The mystery is getting even more baffling, with 22198 being Bo-hee's important numbers. Is it the power that be telling Hyun-jae to break in her phone and find some secret there..?

22198 seems like a date for Feb 21, 1998, but I can't figure out why that would be important. HJ disappeared in 1994. JH was born probably 6-8 months after his disappearance.

I ship them, but I'm also sick of the love triangle and don't think they are developing either potential pair well, so I'm not that passionate about JH/WS anymore. Also I think unfortunately this drama is kind of becoming about romance. To me HJ cutting his hair and getting a modern makeover signaled a shift in the show from being a comedy with some romance elements, to a romcom. Basically it made him more appealing as a romantic lead to both WS and the audience, but at the sacrifice of a great amount of comedy around his 90'sness. Ever since that scene the romance seems to be the main focus now. And yet it is what I am least interested and invested in. *sigh*

As much as I love Yoon Shi-yoon's swoony appearance (that smirk and whistle at the end of ep 16 still makes me melt ?), I have to agree that there has been a change in focus of the plot. I still absolutely love the show but i felt like the modernization of Hyun-jae kind of caused the recent episodes to lose some of it's 90's charm and lightness. I know HJ is great at adapting but I want more time travel high jinxes dammit!
I also don't really care much for the romance either....Woo-seung can honestly get with MJ and I wouldn't care LOL. I just want them focus back on the lost money and HJ's mysterious disappearance. Hopefully the romance won't get dragged out (maybe more bromance instead?? haha)

Someone who's smitten by his kid apparently.
I feel like Woo Seung may be attracted to Ji Hoon, or just realised the attraction after the skinship, but she's trying really hard to shake it off to preserve their friendship. Which makes sense considering her situation, this gal is so lonely and fighting against the world by herself.

I LOLed at that scene when HJ was doling out his unsolicited advice where JH's ear was CGI-ed to look bigger to show that even though he was disdainful of HJ, he was really all ears.
I hope the catching a girl when she falls backwards doesn't include kicking her legs from under her!
My other favorite scene was the one of Kwang Jae begging Young-jae to take care of Bo Hee. Just when you think this proud man was going to fly off the handle... I think Bo Hee likes KJ now, but may be convinced that KJ doesn't like her back romantically especially since he's never said anything in the 20+ years they've been together.
The timing thing is so important and it really sucks that JH keeps missing his timing. By being WS's steadfast friend for 8 years, he created a situation where she's so afraid to lose his friendship and therefore, has rejected all notion of a romantic relationship with him. Maybe if he had confessed 7 years ago, it would have worked out? It is a little frustrating how HJ just lucks into all this timing while JH is always hustling to get there.

They have amazing chemistry and there is something extra-sweet when characters are attracted to each other but try to ignore this attraction due to their other concerns, that makes it more satisfying when they get together in the end. That being said, I think I will be happy as long as WS ends up with someone she likes, and so far I don't see any signs that she might be romantically interested in others than her Da-Bong. :)

I'm with you on this Helena. I'm preparing myself for the terrible heartache of Second Lead Syndrome, and I'm hating the show for letting us believe it could happen... At the same time I am in love with all the characters, I love how HJ's unique perspective reminds us all of life's uncertainty: if you traveled 20 years into the future, you would probably be dumbstruck by how everything does not fit what you thought would happen. We all operate as if we know what the future will be like, but we most probably don't have a clue.
More than anything, the show is an ode to being in the present and doing whatever you can for loved ones while your are here.
HJ is stuck right now because he doesn't know if he can legitimately do something about the present, when really he cannot do anything about the past either. He has to realize that and start making decisions in this timeline, no matter if he has to disappear in the end. Because really, the future is always uncertain. The only thing these characters have (and are teaching us about) is the present.

For me is not uncomfortable because Hyun Jae has the same age that Ji Hoon and although he is biological father he don't live with him. Hyun Jae of the future never date with Ji Hoon's mom because he disappeared before that. So tecnically, Hyun Jae of the future is not Ji Hoon's father but Hyun Jae who is currently living in the past.
I Think is not uncomfortable because they are not in a normal relation father-son. How many fathers and sons of the same age do you know?

Could there be a twist and Hyun Jae is NOT actually Ji Hoon's biological father? Bo Hee has pined over HJ for 20 years, but Hyun Jae doesn't even remember being in a relationship with her, let alone having a passionate affair with her. He was involved in a lot of scandals in his heyday, but could it be that as a friend, he was covering for her relationship with someone else in the past?
Maybe I missed something - has Bo Hee actually admitted Hyun Jae was the baby father? I think Kwang Jae was the one who said so.

I too don't really want Hyun-jae to fall for Woo-seung because I'm loving the way Hyun-jae is trying to help Ji-hoon get the girl and be more of a guiding force for our characters. It's not that I want Ji-hoon and Woo-seung to end up together (because there honestly are plenty of fish in the sea and they're still young) but I think this will really help them grow up. I like how comfortable they are with each other but I always hate how being "childhood friends" means that you must act like children or that you must see the other person as a child and never a love interest. Woo-seung's cold rejection felt more like a knee jerk reaction, not something she really thought about and more like a way to protect herself. I want her to really consider Ji-hoon and I want Ji-hoon to keep trying so that no matter how they end up they won't have regrets.

I've always felt this towards Kim Minjae. He doesn't have that extra "umph" to him. His aura can get easily subdued in the roles I've seen him in. It's sad because I like him but then his characters don't give out that "I'm the one" feel to them.

Rather I guess Kim min jae never gets roles which will make it look like he 'is' the one..he does do the part of jealous boyfriend/suitor part to the T, so I don't mind that, plus jealousy can be healthy if driven in the right direction, but with this show you can't tell.
I don't understand the use of fate for HJ-WS, it puzzles me as in how does that serve any purpose for Hyun Jae's coming to the future? Before I thought part of the reason why he traveled is to meet his son, and solve the riddle of that money and redeem himself maybe? But now it seems like his reason to timetravel was to meet the love of his life, WS. And it could be any other kdrama if the 'time travel' twist wasn't there, so now I'm lost with the main objective of the show. I truly hope though that the writer isn't changing the script to appease the audience who want more romance of HJ-WS.

I actually really like Kim Min Jae in this? From the beginning he grabbed my attention with his career story line. I was more interested in seeing him succeed in becoming a celebrity than in the actual time travel plot....and that's saying a lot because I love anything timey wimey. However, the love lines don't interest me. Period. The only one I think is kinda cute is the interest MJ shows for the main girl. And I did like the intense debut group girl but my interest waned when she became more clingy honestly...

I don't know how to feel about the love triangle. HAHAHA I'm personally torn, I love them both, and their great romantic choices, each with their own strentgs and charm, but this isn't a normal situation - there are very weird circumstances that are too difficult to explain, even more so understand. I hope the show focuses more on HJ's relationships with the people he left behind, rather than a new romantic relationship. Don't get me wrong, it's cute and their chemistry is off the charts, but JH and WS just make sense. Maybe the timing isn't right, but I have a gut feeling that they're end game.
But I think that everything we've seen so far is just a small piece of the bigger picture. And it's only a matter of time before everything comes together. Either way, good job show! I'm hooked and you have me until the end!

I really wish he would've gone missing after bong Hee got pregnant because he would care more about how everyone is doing. He'd truly understand how his actions have ruined grandpa and Gwang Jae's life. As well as him being worried about bong Hee and his son. And heck- maybe even care about Young Jae. It'd just be nice for him to act as a motivating figure in EVERYONES life and truly see how everyone has been affected by him

Yeah I agree. That would've given HJ a much more emotional stake in the present and a better purpose for being there. It would've been interesting if he had to struggle with feelings for Bo-hee that just cannot be realized in 2017 and also feeling very guilty about having left her even if not on purpose. I just don't understand what's the point of him coming to 2017 and barely interacting with the people who knew him and his own son, instead developing a loveline with someone from the present he had no connection to.

Yes!! This is the story we needed. When they original mentioned the time travel I assumed that if there had to be a love triangle it' did he between Bo Hee/him/GwangJae or Ji Hoon/him/Gwang Jae. It'd make more sense for Hyun Jae to spend with the people who he already knows not Ji Hoon and Woo Seung.

My heart aches for Gwang Jae. Ugh this whole take care of her scene with Young Jae. Has anyone ever been more noble huhuhu
Will let go of time travel age conflict etc and enjoy this love square or whatever with Woo Seung and her suitors, hahaha. I quite enjoy Hyun Jae confused about the way he feels as he tries to help Ji Hoon and Woo Seung together. And I'm happy MJ is in the mix. He's such a joy to look at. But fight Ji Hoon, fight!! I am rooting for Ji Hoon to win Woo Seung's heart the most. What he repressed for 8 years is finally out in the open and I hope he finally gets the girl. Woo Seung might be holding back too out of fear of losing him. Ah they're just good together please happen hahaha
Bonus - Mal Sook with a crush!! I found this so funny how old is she anyway hahahaha

Yess!! Where can I find a man like Gwang Jae?? He's constantly looking out for everyone he cares about and serving as a positive role model. He's constantly letting Bong Hee know how valuable she is and that she shouldn't do humiliating things just to be a star. Gwang Jae has believed in her ability 100% and the scene where he stormed in the CEO's office made tear up. I was expecting him to get angry but instead he put Bo Hee's well being first and let them know how precious she is. I truly hope those around him show their appreciation for him.

I hate love triangle and uncertainty of who is the OTP, but I am shipping Hyun Jae with everyone /everything inc WS (but exc Bong Hee) lol. I do feel bad for JH missed timing but I am biased towards Yoon Si Yoon so I want everything for him lol ? Hyun Jae is being cool actually, because he tried to connect these two. It's now up to their faith, if they're meant to be, they will be. I don't feel too bad for JH because he waited or actually 'wasted' 8 years to confess his feeling. Missed the right timing is not a good excuse. It will be acceptable if he just realized his feeling, but nope he realized it long time ago. He needs to prioritize his things. Now not only he missed many of his chances for WS, he is probably will never get the chance to do the audition again. Love is not everything in life, bro.
Anyway after watching epi 19-20, I think I'll con't to watch this drama. This love triangle is just a small thing in this drama that would make me want to drop it. There are other things that I love - including but not limited to Grandpa & Mal Sook.

Hearing the word "timings" sends me back to Reply 1988. And I get chills thinking about how important timing truly is. I can name dozens of dramas which consisted a scene where the two male leads were rushing to get to the female lead. And the guy who got to her first was always the first lead (*cries just thinking about she was pretty*). The preview for the next episode gave away who get to her first and that strangely makes me more anxious. The odds are really not in Ji Hoon's favor... he keeps getting obstacles thrown in his way.
Can MJ join the rooftop squad permanently?? Him and Hyun Jae can bond over their corny jokes

But I just hate it because it's really only in dramas that timing is this important. In real life, timing is important sure, but it's a lot more forgiving and a lot broader. Timing irl doesn't come down to a singular moments where whoever gets there first gets points and the points are added up and whoever gets the most wins. We don't decide to love someone just because they came to our rescue a few times before this other person could get there. I just did not expect this drama to play all these super cliche contrived romantic tropes so straight. I thought it was going to subvert them, challenge them, parody them, avoid them, etc. Really if I wanted cliche romance and love triangle there are many dramas that pull it off way better than this drama.

That is the charm of dramaland, they make it seem as if timing is extremely important, & the guy who saves the damsel in distress first gets to sweep her off her feet; & honestly speaking the way it is shown with the music & setting & everything, even I get swept off my feet even if I know that things will be different in real life scenario.
Maybe they show it because the audience like the swoony moments....??

I mean that's fine, I like that sort of thing on occasion, but as I said there are lots of dramas that do it better than this drama. I don't really find anything here very swoony mostly because none of the lovelines are well-developed. I just wanted this drama to stick to being a variety drama, a comedy with some small romantic elements, but not the main focus, so I'm disappointed. There's just not anything unique about this drama anymore.

I also don't think the romantic part of this drama is very swoony. BUT, so as the time-travel part which is not so thrilling. Or the complex family/relationship which is not so makjang. Or the slice-of-life attempts which were not as dry as other slice-of-life comedies. It has a little bit of everything, but not too much of anything. So I took this "loveline" plot as lightly as how I took other plots in this drama.

Honestly, I don't think timing was important in reply, even if Jung Hwan could reach Deok Sun first before Taek, it won't matter, since Deok sun already chose Taek subconsciously, as we saw Dong Ryung told her to ask her heart, 'who always comes to her mind no matter what.' And it was Taek, she was always taking care of her, so the zone between love and friendship merged IMO. Dramaland always makes a big issue of timing, but sometimes even if you're able to confess that doesn't work out. And I don't think there is anything called fated relationship either. It's just how we are being told stories in the make-believe world of kdramas lol. Coming back to TBH, I 'am' kind of annoyed that they are imitating reply to some extent with the love angle.

There's also something else that bothers me, & that is, a wasted effort in the dramaland. IDC who the leads are, who'll end up with whom, or even if the a person is a minor character, but it frustrates me when they go to great length to do something fir someone & it doesn't happen or they don't get the credit.
And in today's episode I almost pulled out my hair when HJ couldn't give the
jajangmyun to WS.
I mean why? She won't fall in love with him over a bowl of food! But this would've been a sweet moment because she's searching for that shop like forever & then she doesn't get to taste the food.
I already knew this would happen from last episode. All the shows do that. They show this super important thing but just toss it to the side. (Remembers the hairpin from Cinderella's sister ugh!!)

I've been shipping HJ and WS, but at this moment, I'm more curious on what happened to the $2 Million. Is the other HJ (1993-1994) really exist? And why do I get the feeling that JH is not HJ's son as time goes by. If HJ took the money and went missing, how did GJ knows that HJ's the father of BH's son? Or did I watch it wrong and misinterpret the timeline? I know it's kinda confusing to solve the mystery, I want to ignore it and just enjoy the drama, but I don't think I can just let it go.

Not just here, but also Naver. When these episodes aired, people were complaining about the slow development of the story (when Ji-hoon was the active "mover" of the episode). Then when the next episodes aired, comments were about Hyun-jae and Woo-seung LOL. I know Hyunjae is the main protagonist of this story so the movement of this drama is highly dependent on his decisions, but I can't help but ugggghh LOL So yea show, let's put the loveline on the sidelines because the shipping mentality is getting out of hand and taking the focus away from the actual story LOL.

Um no. I really don't care about ships anymore because I just hate this love triangle. It's poorly developed compared to other dramas. This show has just gotten significantly less funny now that it's focused on the love triangle (which is the main focus hence why it's been the cliffhanger for the last few episodes). You cannot seriously say that these episodes are anywhere near as funny as the earlier one. There are just way less jokes if you bother to count. As I said above this show lost its spark for me when HJ got modern makeover. Doing so was in service to the romance, but in great disservice to the comedy.

From the start I thought it's gonna be beautiful story about a guy winning his crush over by his sincere desire to help her achieve some sustainability and more. And they had so many moments back from the very first episode.
And don't even get me started about hints about her feelings to JH. Are they gonna just ignore it? (Her reaction to cheek kiss, jealousy in restaurant and Game Center, speech about JH being the only one person in her life and etc).
Sorry, WS-HJ shippers, these both are cute together, but what is their story really about in comparison to JH-WS ship? Pretty bickering? I am just not sure how to react.

Thanks for recapping, gummimochi! I love THE BEST HIT to pieces. Its crew of underdogs are endearing, and I enjoy watching their stories unfold.
The mysterious 22198 that shows up on Hyun-jae's beeper -- and that Bo-hee uses as the lock code on her handphone -- could be a date after all. Day 221 of 1998 = Sunday, August 9, 1998. As to its significance, I have no clue.
I know exactly where Woo-seung is coming from with regard to risking a longstanding and cherished friendship. I don't blame her one bit. It's how I felt about a couple of my Friends Who Are Male back in high school and college.
Ji-hoon's taking eight years to tell Woo-seung how he feels is another variation on the theme. On some level, he, too, may have feared risking their friendship, but did not recognize it as such. Now he realizes that he'd better throw his hat in the ring or forever regret failing to carpe the diem. I see his plighting of troth as a different issue from pursuing his dreams of stardom, however.
The frequent pronouncement in Kdramas that men and women cannot be friends raises my hackles. We're all bozos on this bus, dang it! If we're blessed to find kindred spirits as we make our way in life, who cares whether we're male, female, "alien" -- or Kdrama fans who enjoy each other's company on DramaBeans even if we'll never meet in person?! ;-)

Unlike others, I am quite fine with the romantic development here. The show has made a good job making us care for all the characters, so the romantic struggle between HJ, JH and WS does not seem a mere obstacle for the main couple to get together, but part of character growth for all of them. I'm fine with it and it does not detract from my enjoyment of the show... in fact I love HJ as dating advisor and I was ROFL when he was teaching skinship to JH. @ 39 Yuki,
I'm with you. Hyun-jae's skinship demo was hilarious. I love how he's doing his darnedest to be Ji-hoon's wingman. If anything, it shows that he's becoming less self-centered and more thoughtful of other people. He's also mirroring Kwang-jae's care for Bo-hee.
The scene in which Kwang-jae entreats Young-jae to take good care of Bo-hee's comeback is so doggone touching. As is his looking at the ring he bought her, and stashing it back in the drawer. It seems he and his son are both cursed with bad timing. -- Or maybe the universe is just giving them lots of practice jumping when opportunity knocks?

Agree, I don't see the problem, it's better to just relax and enjoy, this show is still awesome...of course, the romance may be an inconvenience because we all have a favorite and don't want to see our ship sinking. As for me, I'm a HJ+WS shipper, but as long as WS ends up with someone she likes and HJ also ends happy, I will be in peace.
The only thing I don't want to see is any of them suffering, moping about unrequited love or making silly sacrifices. But really, HJ or WS do not seem the type to cry in the corners for these things, so I can see them moving on if nothing happens. As long as the show doesn't go strong with the drama, I will be happy.

Also, his daughter (Mal Sook's mom) stayed in the attic room for a while... On my police board she's a suspect for taking the $2 million.

Hmmm. The fact that Mal-sook's mom and her hubby/boyfriend died in a traffic accident is also suspicious. Was thuggery involved? I wonder if Hyun-jae's being chased by thugs in the club is related to the missing dough?
It occurs to me that Grandpa might have somehow gotten the money back, but has forgotten because his memory has been getting progressively worse.
I also don't trust Cathy. There's something underhanded about that woman. Just sayin'.

Nice. I had forgotten about the club chase. Bo Hee would know. *sigh* We really need an episode about Bo Hee reminiscing about the past. I think the show has purposefully not shown us much about her.
Cathy is mighty suspicious and still ridiculous. The actress suits this role better than as Sorim's grandmother in Liar and His Lover, that's for sure!

It looks like the focus of the story changed after HJ changed his styles. I miss the 90's feel this show gives.
I just have a few guesses:
1. Mal sook's mom took the money since she stayed in the room after HJ left.
2. 22198 might be the code for HJ and BH to meet while they are secretly dating.
3. YJ and his wife probably knows the secret of HJ disappearance.

I also feel that HJ 2017 and HJ 93-94 are two different person. I don't see HJ 2017 as a selfish, self-centered person.

Wow, It didn't occur to me to view YJ's wife as a suspect to HJ's disappearance! That is really plausible since she seems to be obsessed with YJ.
I think the circumstances of 2017 helped 1993 HJ mature quickly. 1993 is flushed with fame, cash, and independence. Sure he didn't have friends, but his life was still pretty sweet - there was nowhere for him to go but up. 2017 HJ is a nobody squatting in his former manager's home. He is forced to interact with lowly mortals every day. He now knows that he will disappear in 1994. Whether he died or not, it still sucks. If he was dead, it sucks to know that his life was cut short. If he was alive and in hiding, it means he abandoned BH and their child.

My theories are NEVER right, but it is fun to try to guess anyway. So here it goes. Hyunjae is not really the father, but helped Bohee during her time in need, probably by paying off a blackmailer at the meeting point by the lake. That is when he disappeared. That is why she owes him a debt of gratitude. She also feels guilty about the money so she has stuck by the agency all these years without saying anything. I'm sure I'm completely wrong, but it would resolve the Jihoon-Huynjae triangle. Plus it would clarify why he took the money without explaining his reasons, and it would make him into a good guy.

@ dramamama,
Your theories sound plausible to me. Good job! Now lets see how they pan out. ;-)

When KwangJae went to Star Punch to ask Young-Jae to take care of Bo-Hee, I had a onslaught of memories from Sassy Girl (THE MOVIE). And is it just me, or Cha Tae-hyun is losing a lot of weight? I think balancing directing, editing, acting, 1n2d, and being a family man is taking toll on his body. Take care, dad!

I'm so frustrated with this drama. HJ-JH has all the dad-son chemistry ready but they make everything about WS. I truly can't get what I wanted from this drama. Dropping the show
