The Water God so powerful and beautiful that he knows it

We’re less than a month away from the premiere of tvN’s Bride of the Water God 2017, and the show’s released another short, beautiful teaser that doesn’t really reveal anything about the plot. If the last teaser showed Nam Joo-hyuk’s (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-ju) water god in his deity form, this newest one brings him back down to earth, being flirty with Shin Se-kyung (Girl Who Sees Smells).
In the newest teaser, our water god, Ha-baek, and his human “servant,” So-ah, stroll through a field when dark rain clouds roll in. Ha-baek uses his magic to create a little air bubble around him, and pulls So-ah in close to shield her from the rain. Ah yes, who needs umbrellas when you have a water god around. He goes, “Did you see? This is the power of the water god,” to which So-ah replies, “Your powers are quite nice.” Pffft, did you purposely make it rain to show off?
According to some newly released info on Ha-baek, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. He’s described as a “god fatale”—as in femme fatale—because of his good looks and his high divine status. It sounds like there’s definitely a clear hierarchy among the gods, and Ha-baek descends to earth in order to find a stone that would legitimize his succession to the throne among the gods. So, he’s not just a god, but a royal god? Lol, no wonder he has such a big head. Even in this teaser, he refers to himself as “water god-nim,” which is essentially like calling himself “your majesty/divinity.” I can’t wait until he goes head-to-head with So-ah, a pragmatic doctor who initially thinks Ha-baek is clinically delusional.
I’m actually starting to look forward to this show: The cinematography, if these teasers are anything to go by, is gorgeous, and the additional information on our titular water god has me grinning ‘cause I can see some great comedy being mined out of it. I’m crossing my fingers and toes that Bride of the Water God turns out as a beautiful fantasy rom-com as all these promos suggest.
tvN’s upcoming Bride of the Water God 2017 will follow Circle in the Monday-Tuesday slot, and will premiere on July 3.

Everything looks so beautiful whether it's the cast or the stills. I love how SSK thinks NJH is clinically delusional and I'm definitely looking more forward to the show. Hopefully, it proves to be as good as it looks right now.

Me too. haha! When I first saw Joohyuk filming for BOTWG I thought to myself that something's off about his look. Then comments here on DB pointed out the back of his hair! Aha! That's what's been bothering me all this time. Oh well maybe I'll get used to it the more I see it.

yeah, I see that so many actresses are cutting their hair. It's a little sad, since some of them look so pretty with long hair, but then when I see them with short hair, I'm like, "Oh, she looks pretty like that too." So unfair

i knoow. I'm kind off put off that they'r keeping the name but changing almost everything about it... I love the manhwa, but what was the most awesome part was (besides the clothes!!) the fact that Habaek wa sa child during the day and Mui during the night because of Nakbin's (his first love) curse??

Haha I was just about to comment that I watched the teaser with the audio off and I immediately thought: Laundry detergent commercial. NJH being Mr. Clean's competitor, with alllll the hair instead of none.

I suppose we can just turn off our memories of the manhwa and enjoy this drama for what it is, a completely different drama which just happens to have the same name and characters as the manhwa. I hope it's funny at least.

I am glad it is not going to be angsty. I stopped reading the manhwa cause of it. The pretty could not distract me with the unnecessary drama.
On the other hand, this has nothing in common with the manhwa. The water palace, costumes, child Habaek. I hope his friends and family are the same.

I didnt read the manhwa so the premise if the show sounds ok to me. The leads and the overall atmosphere (at least in the teasers) are beautiful for sure. One thing that started to worry me is the chemistry between the hero and the heroine though. Something is off, I cant put my finger on why.

NJH in WLFKBJ is just lovely. I think I like his 'emotionless' expression. Think he's kinda cute. : )
As for the female lead, she doesn't draw me in yet. The stills look kinda strange and the zoomed-in picture of her face looks a bit awkward. Please be good.

Tvn turns out visually compelling dramas, no doubt, that sometimes I'm upset that I'm so superficial falling for it. But between Goblin, TLAHL, Circle, and now Bride if the Water God, I feel they can do no wrong when it comes to production quality.

The aquarium scene reminds me of Romeo+Juliet movie.
It's not going to be tragedy, right?
Anyway, love that the heroine thinks the god is clinically delusional. I mean, with ego that big, the god must find someone that can really match his personality (god-ality[?])
Though I'm not reading the webtoon, I wish the drama will deliver well.
