Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching

I’m still bleary-eyed from our eventful week (we hope you’re enjoying the new site layout!), and I let a few shows fall by the wayside for the moment, although they’ll make it back on the list eventually. But I still managed to squeeze a few episodes in, because that’s what we do. And also because I needed a sunny spot to push me through, and thankfully I had a couple that delivered that. –javabeans

Chicago Typewriter: This is a weird show. I only watched the first episode, and I’m reminding myself that I really disliked the first episode of Kill Me, Heal Me (also from this writer) and came around later, so I intend to watch a few more. But I’m not enjoying this yet.

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon: This show makes me happy. There are things I don’t love about the plot or the kidnapper or some of the jokes, but the show gives me a warm glow and lifts my spirits, which was something I really needed this week.

The Liar and His Lover: Okay, so this was the show I’ve been waiting for—the kind that makes me eager to watch episode after episode, rather than feeling I have to try to keep up, and sticks in my mind even when I’m doing other things. It’s not perfect: The dialogue can get unrealistically drippy for my tastes (I cringe when it gets cheesy and push through it), I find the editing occasionally choppy, and the supporting cast is inexperienced. But despite all that, the show speaks to me with its breezy feel-good spirit; the tone, the mood, and the heart are all very engaging. And for once, I can absolutely see why everyone is fascinated with the same girl, and why they find her special. Joy is delightful.

Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People: It was really hard to see Gil-dong so broken, but I know how important this is for his character—he was skating by and living large, doing good deeds and punishing the wicked, but not with any sort of conviction. And if he’s going to become the legendary hero of the people we know he’s destined to be, he has to believe in something. Now, I don’t know that they needed to practically crucify him, for pete’s sake, but I know we’ll be rewarded soon… Soon, right?

Whisper: I don’t really trust Lee Sang-yoon yet, but I started to like the show the second he was betrayed and knocked off his high horse. I really just needed him and Lee Bo-young to be on the same side, I guess, because I wasn’t really invested until that moment he was drugged in the club. Now it feels like there’s a proper balance, because our heroine has at least ONE ally in this world, even if he’s probably going to betray her every Tuesday.

Chicago Typewriter: I’m not sure I like the characters as people yet (he’s just such a diva), but the thing that sparked my interest was seeing Im Soo-jung suddenly turn into a badass sharpshooter, which was much better than her just being a fangirl stalker. The directing is certainly snazzy, but I think it’ll take some time to connect with the characters emotionally? Methinks starting with their past lives might’ve been a better way to hook me.

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon: I love that this show makes it absolutely clear that Bong-soon is the superhero of the story and the boys are her sidekicks. I was all verklempt when she got her powers back, and it was so important to me that she went through all that to figure out just how much her strength was a part of her identity. It may be on the nose to have a strong woman take down a woman-hating man, but I love it—it’s simple, empowering, and goddamn satisfying. Now the real question is how many times I can rewatch jealous shenanigans and kissyfaces before the finale…

HeadsNo2

Mystery Queen: I was still mourning the loss of Chief Kim, so I wasn’t quite sure how I’d warm up to this new comedy when its predecessor handled comedy so darn well. And while the comedy in Mystery Queen hasn’t quite hit my funny bone (I can honestly say I’m over poop jokes in dramas lately, all of them), I can see where it’s objectively funny. Having never really warmed to Choi Kang-hee before, I’m surprised by how much I’m liking her in this role, because she does embody this sort of sad-sack ajumma with an incredibly keen intellect. I love the rapport she’s building with her Watson and his grudging acceptance of her superior sleuthing skills. Plus, the cases of the week are quite good, unlike…

Tunnel: Really? We’re going to pull a the-killer-is-someone-in-this-room? And then we’re going to advertise who the killer is with a flashing neon sign without even throwing one semi-believable red herring in? Oy. The episodic cases are so completely forgettable that all we’re left with is the overarching mystery, which is sorely lacking in mystery. I like the side characters at least (Yoon Hyun-min is life), but I really do wish I could feel more for the hero. Maybe next week, maybe never.

The Liar and His Lover: I really like how the show is giving So-rim higher and higher stakes as it progresses, because she’s just so good at portraying raw emotion. Everything you need to know is written on her face at any given moment, and while her tendency to cry at the drop of a(n admittedly important) hat could sometimes nag at me, the show does a great job of reminding me that these issues really do matter to her. She’s still a teenager at the end of the day, and with all these forces suddenly pushing and pulling at her, it’s no wonder that she finds herself at a crossroads. I’m kind of not rooting for the main couple, actually—not unless Han-gyul can learn to separate his personal feelings from his music, but then again, what kind of composer would he be if he could?

Whisper: I got behind on life and hadn’t had a chance to watch this one yet, even though I love the team behind it to bits. I’ve only just watched the first episode, and… OMG I LOVE IT NOW I CAN MARATHON THE OTHER FIVE EPISODES. GET INTO MY BRAIN FASTER.

Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People: Okay, if Missing 9 got sanctioned for violence, then Rebel is going to be bathing in pink slips after this week. Or do sageuk dramas get a bit of leeway? The violence is technically historically accurate, and I kind of love the permeating sense of darkness, dread, and death. I don’t know what that says about me, but it’s probably not good.

Currently recapping: Whisper

Super Family 2017: It’s been a weird and stressful week for me, but this was the first show I reached for once I had some free time. It’s my comfort drama. There’s something reassuring about spending an hour with this family, knowing that any mishaps will somehow be remedied and, no matter what, they’ll still love and support each other.

Tunnel: I’m pleased Sung-jae is starting to realize something’s fishy with his new partner, mostly because I can’t wait until he has to wrap his brain around the fact that Kwang-ho was the same guy that held him when he was a baby. I’m also loving the awkward burgeoning romance between Sung-jae and Jae-yi. Emphasis on the “awkward,” but then again even two damaged robots need someone to love and be loved in return.

Chicago Typewriter: I usually can’t connect with this writer and her dramas, and this one is no different. I want to like it, but something isn’t quite clicking for me. Even so, I’m not ready to give it up just yet. I love the brief glimpses of the 1930s so I’m hoping for more of those flashbacks to keep me hooked, plus I need to see more of Go Kyung-pyo!

chickachunga

Radiant Office: The only show I’ve been loving these days. I came for Go Ah-sung, and I’m staying for Go Ah-sung and Lee Dong-hwi! Someone give the bespectacled scene-stealer a lead role ASAP! I appreciate the handling of discrimination in the workplace — against rookie employees, women — as well as the depiction of office politics; it’s ugly and infuriating, but alas, it’s the truth. I recently found out that both the writer and PD are women which only makes me love the show even more. The comedic, dramatic, and humanistic elements all work, so what’s not to love?

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon: Zzzz…Someone wake me up when there’s actually an episode worth watching. I think I’ll stick to the bloopers and snippets of cuteness on YouTube. I managed to somehow make it through Episode 9 (trust me, it took effort to get this far), and I’m still wondering where all the hype is originating from. Sure, the main couple is cute as buttons, yes the villain played by Giant Im Si-wan is creepy, but neither of these selling points are keeping me engaged. I find myself bored and scanning through the accounts of Instagram-famous puppies on my phone for 90 percent of each episode since there’s always an inexplicably huge chunk of filler that consists of the incompetent cops who aren’t at all funny (the references to old police procedurals have yet to amuse me) and the annoying and abusive mom who just wants to marry off her daughter. For such a fun premise with so much potential, the writing is pretty horrendous which slows down the pace tremendously. To end on a positive note, I will say this — Kim Won-hae is the man!

tineybeanie

Currently recapping: Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon: I’ve been playing catch up with this one. But the feminist in me is slowly tearing her hair out because this drama is SO not what she wanted it to be. Like that scene where Bong-soon was trapped with a bomb strapped to her chest, and Min-hyuk was coming to save her. Thankfully the entire cliche of prince-rescues-princess was averted because he wasn’t actually able to break through a solid steel door, BUT then she was saved via deus ex machina instead, which is almost equally as disappointing in my book. I’m literally only holding out till the end because I think Park Bo-young and Hyung-shik are absolutely adorable and beautiful together.

Laica

Currently recapping: Mystery Queen

Father Is Strange: Lee Joon continues to be adorable and/or make me laugh (as does his turtle Al), but I’m disappointed we didn’t get to see Mi-young face off against her former bully this week. Now that their future relationship has been revealed, I’m ready for Mi-young to break out the judo skills and take her revenge on Yoo-joo. Also, Hye-young is awesome in every other way, but I really wish she would tell Jung-hwan why they broke up eight years ago, because it makes absolutely no sense for her to keep this secret at this point, and hasn’t for a while.

Radiant Office: I’m a week behind, but gosh do I love this show. The glimpses we got into both Ho-won and Woo-jin’s relationships with their families were heart-tugging and illuminating. Also, how precious is Woo-jin when he jumps and squeals in fear of kittens? His unexpected weird character quirks are as hilarious as they are cute—and I have a feeling Ho-won agrees. The flickers of awareness growing between them are giving me the flutters, and I can’t wait to see what changes the big reveal will bring to their dynamic. I also vote Ki-taek for Best Oppa of 2017 and possibly ever. Because he is.

tipsymocha

Tunnel: I love how Sun-jae and Kwang-ho are slowly but surely (but mostly slowlllyyy) coming together as partners, although the revelation at the end of Episode 6 may put a wrench in that for a while. Speaking of which, my interest in young Kwang-ho’s story just upped several notches, and now I’m tapping my foot impatiently for the next episode. Can’t wait to see what twists and turns Tunnel has in store for the main mystery, ’cause the crimes of the day aren’t nearly as twisty and turny as I’d like. Although the last episode did have a good one, mostly because I’m irrationally afraid of identity theft, and so the chills were real.

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon: I didn’t have time to watch Episode 13 on Friday, because life, and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I was so angry at the writer and the show at the end of that episode, that if I had had time to stew, all my affection for the drama would have soured. Okay, maybe I’m being dramatic, but I was mucho pissed. Thankfully, I could watch the next episode immediately, and it was much, much better. I do wish that we would have stayed with super-strength-less Bong-soon for longer than an hour, but the comeback was as epic as I wanted it to be. Except for the random bomb fireworks. That was kinda weird.

Chicago Typewriter: Just a week or two ago, I was in a drama glut, but with Chicago Typewriter and Tunnel, my weekends are full of dramas to watch, so yay! I’m cautiously optimistic about Typewriter; it’s super stylish with a fantasy bent I’m digging, has interesting characters portrayed by great actors, and THAT DOG. I want him in my life, now. I think the present storyline has a lot to offer on its own, but the 1930s timeline is what I’m really here for. I mean, our heroine was a sharpshooter independence fighter—how much cooler can you get?

Mystery Queen: Kwon Sang-woo should only ever do comedy, EVER. I’ve seen him in a whole bunch of projects since Stairway to Heaven waaay back when, but I don’t think I’ve ever liked him more. His grouchy detective to Choi Kang-hee’s persistent, sassy ajumma is pretty much comedic gold, and it’s making me enjoy Mystery Queen a whole lot more than I thought I would. Also, Lee Won-geun’s hero worship of Choi Kang-hee and his budding puppy love are the most adorable things ever. Now, if only they can find a way to get her to team up with Kwon Sang-woo without her having to run home every time her in-laws call. Maybe she can be a consulting detective a la Sherlock?

I've not made use of the free viki pass so far (dramabeans, you guys are AWESOME!). the only reason i would use it though, is to watch chicago typewriter, which Viu didn't pick up. The many lukewarm comments about the show puts me off watching it though. I know, I know... I shouldn't just rely on other people's opinions. Right now, I'm only watching Mystery Queen.

I also rely on availability of latest eps in Viu and DB recaps to decide which series to watch (live or binge-watch in the future). Have you tried dramafire.com? I think they have Chicago Typewriter.
Loved YAI in SFD and Sungkyunkwan, but I haven't picked up CT as yet either.

I'm actually loving Chicago Typewriter. It's eclectic, like the writer's earlier shows (Kill Me, Heal Me, Capital Scandal) so it may not work for everyone, but the mix of supernatural weirdness, off-beat comedy, and serious musings on the role of artists in society clicks with me.

I'm so jealous you can marathon Whisper, Heads!
And -LOL- yes GF, Lee Sang Yoon is love, but it's set on stone that he'll betray Lee Bo-young every Tuesday, the same woman who's saving his life every time his wife and her lover send out the goons to kill him.

Chicago Typewriter is something refreshingly different. I needed the second episode to give it that 5 stars though, and I'm here for Yoon Ah-in's tormented writer persona.

I'm with chickachunga and tineybeanie concerning SWDBS. Honestly, as cute as Park Bo-young and Park Hyung-sik are, every episode felt like a chore to watch. I'm disappointed because I really liked it in the beginning, I really did! But it just couldn't keep my interest and after episode 10 I checked out.

Unfortunately, I have to admit, I watch while doing other things and mostly tune in for Min-min and Bong-bong. There's just too much either boring me or trying my patience. If the show had been more like it was in eps 7-8/ep 15 than I probably could have adored it to bits.

GF perfectly describes how I feel about Chicago Typewriter. I'm more intrigued at how the story is going to unfold than I am invested in the characters. Im Soo-jung turning into a badass sharpshooter was the moment for me too.

And JB perfectly describes how I feel about The Liar and his Lover, which has been such a charming and engaging little show! Caught up with it fast and now I can't seem to wait for my next dose. I agree that the dialogue occasionally dips into cheese, but the characters are ultimately realistic and refreshing enough to pull me back in despite their cheesier moments.

I'm loving Bong-soon lately! I just wish it weren't ending now that it's this awesome. I see all it could have been.

I'm scared to watch Rebel! I don't know if my heart can take it.

I am watching:
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon: When this show ends I will miss it, one more episode to go! This is one of those shows that really was carried by the heart-fluttering hero and adorable heroine, and the H/h’s banter/relationship/moments.
Mystery Queen: This is the type of show that slowly grew on me, and I hope it continues to get better with every episode, it is an easy watch. I am interested to see where this will go.
Chicago Typewriter: I haven’t watched ep 3 yet, but by the first two eps I can say that this show is beautifully shot, but that so far it lacks heart (I don’t feel connected to it or the characters). However I hope it gets better.

@sweetsour: It's the pointed/ triangle brackets, not the rounded or square ones. I used the rounded ones because the triangle brackets wouldn't show up. You used the square ones and rounded ones previously in your posts :D

Or you can look up 'HTML bold tag' or HTML b tag on google. They'll have the code for it and you just need to copy it from there. Here's the reference page:

Can't believe it's finale week for SWDBS already. Haven't been watching any other live dramas these days. Maybe I just love this cast too much and wanna watch something that is light-hearted instead of using too much brain power. Haha... Waiting to see what else I wanna watch that will be part of the line-up soon, and they're all sageuks. LOL

I'm watching up till ep 6 of Ghost Writers. It's really a good drama, It's a pity the acting from several cast is not on par with the brilliant writing (Nakatani Miki is the main suspect).. And the production is quite well done as well, keep aside all those random boyband song which don't fit with general tone of the drama, the overall mood they set and all those instrumental is quite good and fit with the overall atmostphere. But the real star is definitely the writers who are doing a good Job exploring the complecity of human nature in theme of novel writers. It's quite unique topic! I find the topic they arise is quite refreshing.

Perfect Wife: I'm surprised that the drama is letting Jae Bok get away with being so smart, sensible, and understanding. The actors are all killing it in this drama. Wish we got more eyes on it.

Mystery Queen: This is now my go-to pick-me-up drama. I didn't expect to love it this much, even with the incompetent cops. It's just so cute and quirky. I love the chemistry between Seol Ok and Wan Sung and Choi Kang Hee and Kwon Sang Woo.

Radiant Office: I like this drama a lot. It also stresses me out because everyone in it is stressed out. But then you get these happy moments of relief and small triumphs, which makes it worth watching. Laica, I also vote Ki Taek as Oppa of the Year.

Chicago Typewriter: I really want to like this drama, but I have still yet to warm up to it.

Hwang Jini: I originally came for all the dance scenes, but got really into the storyline. I am surprised how the love story and the rivalry really isn't about the romantic relationships, but it really is about art and dance. It's been a beautiful watch in terms of acting, writing, directing, and cinematography so far and I love the music.

Skipped Whisper and Father is Strange this week because of my Hwang Jini marathoning and real life being extra busy this week.

I was also debating whether to see The Liar and His Lover! Most people I know who like it wouldn't recommend it right away, but I guess I'mma try it soon, now that Javabeans seems to enjoy it! I've been a long reader of DB to know that my drama preferences seem to align more with yours, heee.

Im currently only live watching Whisper & SWDBS. Whisper for the re-pairing of one of my first few favourite OTP couples; and SWDBS for the Park-Park couple.

I only discovered DB about a year ago, and found that the recommendations/recaps/opinions were a hit-and-miss for me. Maybe I should keep a keener eye on which recappers' taste are similar to my drama appetite.

Btw, a huge thanks for the Viki pass giveaway, though I didnt redeem it (trying my darnest not to get hooked on kdramas and burrow back into my introverted self)

Im also currently marathoning Drinking Solo to try and finally get it off my NEVER-ENDING "To watch" list..... Will probably pick up CT and/or Rebel after SWDBS ends.

Father is Strange: the big sister is so awesome I was cheering for her the whole time she defended mom and I understand why she broke up with her bf but why not tell him what happened 8 years ago? Chicago Typewriter: I decided to give this a try cuz I was bored and I'm loving it. I love all the characters so far even the diva writer lol. The female lead is so awesome and the cinematography is so good but it makes want to watch a kdrama with a 1930s setting in its entirety like it's either modern or segeuk why not some variety?

Looks like there's a lot of good kdramas out there to watch! Chicago Typewriter is just in time to fill the "other" kdrama slot, while Strong Woman and Liar Lover are more typical kdrama stories with familiar tropes. The last weekend kdrama I watched was Yoona's Street, but I'm loving the Byun family in My Father is Strange and am having fun recapping it. Add Infinity Challenge, Radio Star, I Can See Your Voice, Immortal Songs 2, LoJ, and I Live Alone, and I had a pretty full k-entertainment viewing week! Oh, I checked out Procude 101 guys, I dunno. There were a lot of pretty boys crying.

I already have Viki pass. Therefore, I am not sure how the free Viki pass will apply it for me. In another note, I am trying really hard to enjoy Whisper. But, I fast forward to 2nd lead couple because I love their story more than the main OTP. Is that wrong. Also, all the going to different scene make me dizzy. Therefore, I think I am stopped watching and just read the recap. I think I will stick to Tunnel for now. For Chicago Typewriter, I am not amused with first episode although I do love the 1930 scene. I might watch it if they go more into 1930 scenes then the present scenes. I am loving Across the Ocean Between Us Chinese drama. Have a wonderful week-end and Happy Easter everyone!!!!

I'm currently watching Tunnel and The Perfect Wife. Tunnel's mysteries can be a bit of a hit and miss, sometimes they really drew me in, like with the identity theft case and sometimes not, like with recent suspect-is-in-this-room case that seemed very cliche. But I watch this drama mainly for the characters, their relationships with each other and, of course, to see the ending, so it isn't as big of deal as it could be. The Perfect Wife has a quirky, slightly creepy atmosphere (especially in the beginning) that I love and there something about this drama that is very addictive even if the situations are a bit too melodramatic. The female lead is also likable and easy to root for. She's not a damsel that's waiting to be saved, she isn't a blank slate sort of protagonist, she fights her own battles and has a down-to-earth, honest personality and she is considerate/caring to those around her. The latter is especially important to me, it seems like a trend for the "nice girl" female leads in kdramas to be dismissive or uncaring of anyone who isn't the love interest and that never fails to piss me off. This is what turned me off from A Liar and his Lover when I gave the drama a try and watched the first two episodes. She's so self-absorbed, so caught up in being "in love", that she isn't considerate of her friends. She just seems... very thoughtless and vapid to me. But everyone else seems to really love it. Maybe she gets better as the drama goes on? Or is this aspect of her character not as important to other people?

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon may have had an interesting and good premise on paper but in its execution it fails horribly. The drama is homophobic/ trans phobic, sexist, has turned domestic violence into comedic fodder and made a mockery of another country's religion/monk. I understand that the OTP makes people swoon but there is not enough cuteness that they are radiating that is going to change the fact that this drama is problematic. It is lazily written with little to no character development and this drama has been over hyped too much and the ratings that it has received isn't worthy.

Watching a lot but surprisingly the only show that got me totally invested is You're Too Much for now. Jang Hee Jin is doing well, to be fair she is doing better than expected within short of time. She has more similar vibe with Uhm Jung Hwa - in term of sexiness which Gu Hye Sun didnt have. GHS did have better singing voice that JHJ but overall, I think JHJ suits this drama more.
Still loving Radiant Office. Perfect Wife and Whisper - not that I have not enjoying it, but I decided to put in hold for a while. PW i am going to pick up it again after finished. But I already watched up to latest epi. Mystery Queen and Chicago Typewriter were quite good so far, but not fully invested yet.

Short of time this past week so I know that my favorite go to dramas right now are Radiant Office and Perfect Wife because Tunnel has to wait and Strong Woman is on hold. Radiant Office is the rare drama that actually gets better as it goes on. Yes, there is some over the top office stuff but it is a drama after all. I especially have to give it respect for the newbie writer who is managing to provide such a satisfying drama. Perfect Wife has one of the strongest most down to earth lead female characters of any I've ever seen which meshes perfectly with the other gal's creepy, manipulative vibe. Oops forgot I'm also watching Mystery Queen. Loved the first episode but am liking not loving it right now.

Watching 1) Strong Woman Do Bong-soon, mostly for the leads' chemistry, which is lovely. I also really like the OST; 2) Whisper - nice to see Lee Bo-young kicking some ass; and 3) Quartet, which is pretty fun but missing that x-factor. Sakamoto Yuji's dramas are a bit hit and miss for me, and this one just feels like I've seen it before. Still, the leads' acting is saving it and I'm looking forward to discovering what's the deal with Matsu Takako's character.

Chicago Typewriter - i choked on the cookie i was eating when the camera backed up from YAI's bandaged head to reveal the COLLAR OF SHAME... what a riot, and so unnecessary! not to mention the syringe with jook.... omg.... : D

Tunnel and Mystery Queen are my primary fixes at the moment, though I may try out Chicago Typewriter at some point. I abandoned Strong Woman and Radiant Office, which were both hit or miss for me from the beginning, despite their likable qualities. Since the cast in Mystery Queen is sort of hit or miss for me, too, I can't believe how much I like the show, which is just really fun to watch. Tunnel is a bit slower, but it doesn't feel like a waste of time, even if aspects of the series are a bit derivative. (Enough with the atmospheric shows about serial killers, already! How many times can you remake Memories of Murder, with or without time travel or other fantastic elements?) In general, both Tunnel and Mystery Queen have adeptly used plot to develop characters in compelling ways.

I'm currently following TLHL and Radiant Office only. Dropped SWDBS few episodes ago prob because I don't get most of the jokes, the suspense isn't thrilling enough, and the sad scenes not sad enough. I admit that the leads' chemistry was on point tho.

Radiant Office: watching this for Go Ahsung. I'm so sad this show is underrated. Go Ahsung's acting is, as always, superb here. I especially love her crying scene. She doesn't overact, but it's enough to break our hearts to pieces. The way she cries is the way normal people cry, it just looks so real. And there are some scenes where she just does a dialog with tears brimming in her eyes (latest episode's hospital scene I guess?) That was so remarkable. I'm quite picky about actress' acting, so it's a joy to watch such great acting.

The Liar and His Lover: I loooove that Lee Hyunwoo picked such layered character for once. I see a lot of people don't like Han Gyeol. I'm probably a bit biased here but I find his character very interesting. I haven't read the manga so I don't know what his character should be like, but it's nice to see a male lead with hate-able traits. He really suffocates people around him. I fully understand why his friends mad at him, but I strangely also root for him. I like characters that make me feel conflicted like this (like Dr. Seo in Radiant Office too). Sorim's bluntness about her crush on Han Gyeol is such a breath of fresh air too. I felt disoriented at first because I'm not used to this kind of character but it's cute and I like that despite her liking HG so much, it's not a reason enough for her to break her promise. I'm liking Jinhyuk's character too (Sole Music's CEO? Kinda confused with the office hierarchy). He's very shrewd and manipulative but not all about him is despicable.

Currently loving
Radiant office - i love the relation of the three friends and the realistic potrayal of the desperation that youth face today wrt finding a job. Also i adore the growing awareness b/w HW and SWJ. I hate it when dramas portray love/ romance as the first look, accidental kisses etc. Glad the writer is taking her time building their relationship. Also HSJ..he plays similar roles bur always manages to make them different. Love!
Mystery queen- loving it. The deduction process she uses is interesting n i love the bickering between the leads.
Chicago typrwriter- 1st episode was a lil random but the 2nd was much better. Can wait to see how this story proceeds.
Super family- this show majes me happy. I relate to so many of the storylines here. Its a must watch.
Dropped
Strong woman do bong su- i wannlted to love this drama but the silly side stories of the gangsters, the useless cops and the abusive mom who keeps pushing her daughter to catch a ceo..seriously!! I resort tp instagram to check up on my cutue PHS.

I'm in a little bit of a lull right now with my drama watching but Strong Woman Do Bong Soon was my light during this drama round. It was zany and wacky but Min Min's complete adoration of Do Bong Soon was just too cute to not love! Gotta give credit to Park Hyung Sik for making me squeal every time he did.

I used to watch strong woman DBS, but after I think 8 or 9 episodes, I dropped it. I might pick it up again. Though nothing else was palatable, so moved on to chinese dramas for a while. Ended up searching for the best chinese dramas and watched "Nirvana in fire" from the list and pretty much got blown away. Marathoned 54, 45 minutes, episodes in 3 days. And it was all so so worth it. I don't know if anybody has watched it, but it had the most intricate and poignant plot with mind blowing political strategizing that was so FUN to watch. I was glued to my screen for most of these episodes. I think this has become number 1 drama on my personal best dramas list now. I usually don't like korean historicals, so was really skeptical about liking chinese ones, but this one seriously blew me away. HIGHLY highly recommended to everyone! First episode was a bit slow because there were lots of characters being introduced, but from the 2nd episode it picked up so well! It was pretty much is a braingasm (if that's even a word). If anyone wants to watch it, Viki did a great job subbing all of 54 episodes. Pretty much in the drama withdrawal state right now! Might just pick up strong woman DBS again right now to sort of move on or just rewatch nirvana in fire all over again. T_T

Mission accomplished! This weekend I've (finally) finished watching Moonlight Drawn by Clouds -and currently having withdrawal symptoms plus puffy-eyes. I still have the special ep to live with for now but I'm not in the mood to watch anything else yet...

Except Tunnel. Wahhhhh that cliffhanger from eps 7 wahhhh! Half of me want Sun-jae to find out already but the other half want to see him in confusion much longer. I love Yoon Hyun-min but I still want to smack Sun-jae across the head sometimes. I've lost sanity thanks to this drama.

Reading this post makes me realize how everybody has their own taste in dramas. The same drama may receive both love and sneer, and I guess it comes down to how honest a drama is to itself that makes it matter in the end.

That deus ex machina in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is not my favorite, and the firework conclusion reminded me so much of Marvel's Avenger. But I guess there is no other way to put it, since it's been quite a while since they insinuate the question of whether the power that was lost can be regained. I guess, in this case, desperation to save other people is the answer? I can flow with that.

Tunnel.
Identity theft is scary, and I honestly feel glad that someone put it in drama to gain more awareness of such crime.
I hope we get more info on the 1988 Park Kwang Ho's case. And btw, it's about time Robot No.1 realize that his partner is not from this timeframe, it might be messy, but just as they say, all good relationship needs honesty.

Typewriter
Ahhh Go Kyung Pyo. If only all ghosts are this pretty. I want him in more scenes! I want more stories! I agree that he's a spirit. I mean, isnt it strange that nobody really look at him in the eye? Only Se Joo so far. Next question is, is he a good ghost, or a bad ghost?

Mystery Queen
Now we have a glimpse of her prosecutor husband, things may get more interesting. Another thing that pops in my mind is how the best friend always tells her to stay married. Is getting a divorce is even on her book? With the current "mother calls, I gotta go" mode, I dont think she wants divorce (as of yet). But honestly speaking, I cant say she's in a happy marriage, moreover when his husband is practically non existent.

I just finished SWDBS finale, Im' so happy with the ending and the whole series. I followed it from the beginning to the end. Absolutely loved it, but I'll save my comments for the episode recap.

Now that my SWDBS fix has ended (sadly :( I'm currently watching Tunnel, Whisper, and added Defendant to my list as well. I'm gonna need a rom-com drama to lighten this load hmmm..

The liar and his lover: this is my weekly favorite. I enjoy every character and every story. I understand every character and its dilemmas, issue and I love how complex the relationships are. I love the music too. A well-written show so dar.
Chicago Typewriter: how I love this! I'm intrigued and just can't wait for the following episode. And really what not to love abt this cast (YAI ??)
Other shows I'm watching:
Perfect wife: I absolutely loved this in the beginning, I love the main character JB. But i have to admit the crazy is getting too much and too unrealistic for me which kind of tunrs me off.
Whisper: it's an okay watch so far. Every thg is just too convenient but well. I'll stilm watch it.
SWDBS: just watching it for the main leads. The plot is just ... bleh. I was expecting more so i kept watching but nope it didnt deliver.

I was thinking of watching Mystery Queen. Can anyone tell me if it seems like the leads will have a loveline? I just like to know beforehand so I don't get invested in it if it isn't going to happen.

I've been reading the recaps and also waiting for some romantic chemistry between them (she is married in the drama - so it might be a little difficult to happen soon) or for the story to evolve a little more. I love the main couple so I might end up watching even without the romance, sometime later.

Tunnel:
Yay! I managed watched until Ep 7 last weekend and I'm proud that I made a good decision. "You're grown up, Sun Jae~~" kkkkkk

Whisper:
Uh oh, this fast development drama is really Jjang! Gimme more thriller scenes juseyooo~~~

Radiant Office:
Dr Seo please don't break my heart... Not ready to see you become an evil person TT *wallscratching

Mystery Queen:
She remind me to Miss Marple (Agatha Christie)

Chicago Typewriter:
Writer Han is really weird, outrageous & complicated species but I think it's part of his charming.

Hey guys! I'm so sad Do Bong-soon is over :(
It was one of the few dramas I was actually following every week and it made me laugh out loud and squeal so much. Now I'm watching some behind the scenes footage because the actors chemistry are amazing and the NG's so funny.

The other one I've been watching is The Liar and His Lover. Maybe it was easy for me to accept Joy as an actress because I used to watch a lot of variety and I found her adorable in them, even though I don't know much about red velvet. So I warmed up for the show just knowing of the music theme and because it's from TVN.

I'm not on the mood for a lot of different genres nowadays, least of all mistery or office themed dramas, so it's been difficult to find something I want to watch. I hope the spring dramas help me out of this mood. Tomorrow begins "My Secret Romance" from the same producers of 100% of anything and I REALLY hope it's at least an easy cute watch. Good week to everyone!
