Battling for survival at the workplace in Radiant Office
by tineybeanie
A new comedic trailer is out for the upcoming drama Radiant Office, which is a refreshing surprise given the initial setup of the show with a lead character, Go Ah-sung (Heard It Through the Grapevine), who discovers that she’s terminal. I’m also glad to see it since I’ve only seen Go in serious roles, and it’ll be fun to see her taking on a lighter, funnier role.
In Radiant Office, Go’s character starts off as a young woman who’s growing desperate to find secure employment, who tries to make ends meet doing any odd jobs she can find. At the end of her rope, she attempts suicide, but when she’s rescued and taken to the hospital, she finds out that she’s been stricken with a terminal illness and has only months to live.
After this shocking diagnosis, she makes a total change in mentality and things begin to look up for her, starting with securing a full-time job with a good company. The only downside is her boss, played by Ha Suk-jin (1% of Anything), whose nickname “King of Jerks” doesn’t do justice to his uptight and heartless personality. Fortunately, she has two awesome co-workers, played by Hoya (Answer Me 1997) and Lee Dong-hwi (Entourage, Answer Me 1988), who make life fun at the office.
The teaser shows the initial not-so-positive interactions between the main couple, Go Ah-sung and Ha Suk-jin. A montage shows her doing every part-time job under the sun, including working as a retail clerk, waiter, delivery girl, and so on. When she interviews at his company, he tells her to buzz off because he doesn’t need someone who is so without potential that she’s held a 100-plus part-time jobs before. But it looks like his outright rejection of her doesn’t keep her down, because she gets right back up and starts saying she needs this job to live. The voiceover ends with her saying that she wants to take this last chance to test fate and prove that she’s a useful human being.
Meanwhile, Lee Dong-hwi’s character starts off unemployed, having tried three times already to pass the national civil service exam. After studying and failing for three years straight, his materialistic girlfriend, played by Han Sun-hwa (Rosy Lovers), leaves him to pursue better options. He eventually enters the same company as Go Ah-sung, and hijinks ensue once he runs into his ex again. The company rumor mill says that she’s a two-faced fox, but while her sly tricks are obvious to her fellow women, the men remain oblivious. Will Lee Dong-hwi fall for her tricks again?
MBC Wednesday-Thursday workplace comedy Radiant Office begins on March 15.

Yes. Terminal illness is a guaranteed "don't watch" for me.
But that's just as well. I find myself trying to watch more shows than I have time for and I need things to help me filter some out.

I really want to know why this girl has anti-fans who call her ugly. For the life of me, I can't see anything ugly about her, let alone 'unbearable ugliness'!
Just share with me what's your real reason for calling her ugly. I am more curious than anything.

How ironic. i came to the comment section to write about how pretty she looks in these stills/this teaser. She's really not ugly though, your standards must be unbearably high.

It's very sad you go around calling people ugly, I'm sure you are not perfect yourself! She's very talented and that's what matters!

I've been drawn to this actress because she doesn't appear to have had her face resurfaced and cut like many other actors. Koreans don't normally have ski slope noses and doll-like eyes. I like her natural face.

Ahh, these trolls are uglier in both personality and looks than anyone they comment on. The amusing thing is, a lot of these haters are pretty unattractive themselves. If you have nothing nice to say, then shut it. Cheers!
Frankly I think she is quite pretty and has unique features that make her memorable. So many actresses nowadays all have the same redone chins, cheeks and noses.
Also, until I know if there is a plot twist in which she won't die, I am saying no to the drama. Hee

Ditto. Any "terminal illness" label on a drama and I stay away from it, can't bear thinking the character will die :(

Reminded me of Scent of a Woman too. I'll probably still watch this - I need a good drama to cry to.
maybe I'm just tired of the type of character but I feel like I've watched too many dramas / read too many drama recaps that start with the main female lead being poor and working a million part time jobs. I know that it's popular but I'm getting tired of it - I want some variety!

Another jerk type character for Ha Suk Jin. Sigh. This actually looks interesting but I'm also the type who can't watch 'terminal illness' dramas. So sadly, this is automatic pass for me. (But I'm hoping for a Twenty Again scenario)
Also, thumbs up for using a Radwimps song for the trailer. I was pleasantly surprised at that. XD

It's billed as a comedy. Not a dramedy or a melodrama. I highly doubt she will actually die.

I'm still in HSJ-JSM of 1% ship (hehehehe) but will still watch this. Looks fun especially with Hoya and Turtle/Dong-hwi! And I'll be crossing my fingers and toes for the terminal illness to be a misdiagnosis.

"she wants to take this last chance to test fate and prove that she’s a useful human being".
been there. "Why am I even doing this? Will anybody ever say "Thank you!"? Am I just wasting my time, what if it is meaningless? Does anyone even know I exist?" I have been at that point, creatively though, but it is the same, when art is the meaning of your life, but seems like nobody needs it. No matter how cheerful this drama looks, I don´t think looking for justification to your existence is a very funny business.
that said, positive attitude is still necessary. Not to fret over meager human achievements. That´s just sand. Who knows if world would end tomorrow. Human problems are so minor. Even when facing death, to not think "I didn´t achieve much!" or "I wasted too much time!!", but to think you did your best in any circumstance. I like the saying "No snowflakew ever falls into the wrong place!" So none of our deeds might not be meaningless, even if it feels like that at the moment. Every loose end will be tied at some point.

Suk Jin is looking good in trailer - maybe using fair-skin products properly.
The Heroine doesn't have striking features like many other female actors have but she still is beautiful. Character matters more than an actor. That's always the case.

Go Ah Sung is seriously one of the best actresses in her generation. If she picks this drama for her comeback to small screen after HITTG then it must be something. The drama might have very positive message for the ones battling terminal illness or who doesn't have proper job.
