Fairytale-like posters and teaser featuring disheveled leads for Shopping King Louis

New posters and a second teaser have been released for MBC’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama Shopping King Louis, and if they’re any indication, it looks like we’re in for plenty of cute and physical comedy.

Shopping King Louis is a youth survival romance drama centering around Louis, an amnesiac chaebol heir played by Seo In-gook (Police Unit 38), who gets dropped in the middle of bustling, consumption-central Seoul, and Go Bok-shil, a country bumpkin mountain girl played by Nam Ji-hyun (What’s With This Family). Our second leads are played by Yoon Sang-hyun (Ms. Temper and Nam Jung-ki) and Im Se-mi (Goodbye Mr. Black).

The wacky teaser introduces us to a disheveled and scuffed up Louis creeping on a stranger’s cup of coffee, chomping with his mouth full, and yawning lazily. His copy reads, “Amnesiac hothouse-grown flower that ignites your maternal instincts.” We then meet self-proclaimed “Odae Mountain’s flying squirrel” aka Go Bok-shil, standing in the way of Yoon Sang-hyun’s character, tussling with a group of girls, and sitting next to Louis all busted up and weary post-catfight. Her copy reads, “100% survival instinct. Dirt spoon from Gangwon province.” Louis repeatedly seeks her out and gets on her nerves, but at the end, he tugs on her shirtsleeve and stares at her intently, and says in voiceover, “That feeling I’ve never once experienced before.” Aww.

The two posters featuring our four main characters are sweet and whimsical. In one, they’re all perched atop an illustrated castle like storybook characters straight out of a children’s fairytale, and the pretty pastel pink-purple color scheme adds a delightful touch. In the second, they’re housed in doll boxes, and I’m sure many of us would jump at the chance to take home a Seo In-gook of our own.

There’s also a standalone poster of Seo In-gook, dapperly dressed and surrounded by tall stacks of shopping boxes, along with a poster of our main couple with Seo In-gook leaning against a shopping cart with Nam Ji-hyun inside. The shopping theme is evident, and the caption is stamped on the bottom right-hand corner like a special promotional label: “I found something I really want.”

Shopping King Louis will premiere on September 21 after W–Two Worlds ends.

Weeelll, I am 95% sure they intended it to be "Louie". Why? There is a brand of clothes called King Louie, and they must be making a reference to that brand. Why else would they choose that name? Now i'm not 100% just because I don't know if the brand is called "King Louie", or "Wang Louie" like the poster (wang = king) in Korean. But on the other hand, they need not to have the exact name of it, you'd still get the reference. So it's very most likely to be "Shopping King Louie".

This is kind of tricky. Hangeul have no choice but to write is as "루이". Because regardless if its "Louie or Louis" it's still spelled that way because of how it was pronounced.

The only way to know is if there's gonna be romanization of the name in the drama. Lol.

This looks ridiculously cute. I'm so excited for it. I'm so thankful that Seo In-gook takes on a variety of projects. From genius criminal profiler to charmisatic con-artist to (seemingly ultra-adorable) amnesiac chaebol heir, he does everything.

I don't even care if this is just cotton candy fluff. As long as it's funny, sweet, and entertaining, as long as I can see Seo In-gook on my screen one more time before he leaves us for two years (TWO YEARS!!!!!), I'll be happy.

You completely described why I like SIG and look forward ti his projects. I dont find him very charming-oppa type like many people here but I love that he isn't afraid to choose different than the usual roles and shows. Versatility is what makes an actor for me.

he reminds me of a fox and thus a kindred spirit. he not only looks like one, but his behavior seems similar too: active, restless, cant stand still, must NOT get bored or it is time for tricks and pranks, expresses emotions loudly etc. plus he plays double edged so well.

and now that I have thought about it a little, it is very objectifying and it showing a girl in a shopping cart makes my brain draw a parallel to human trafficking. after thinking about these, they are not cute, they are gross. people in barbie dall boxes? do we only worship packaging, looks, appearance, lifeless beauty? it is not the symbolism I meant to think about, but cant help it.

Let me guess, before he lost his memory he was very cold, cynical and hard, and it is only the fact that he does not remember his life that now allows him to give free rein to his sweet emotional side! ;-)

Eeeps! This doesn't look like a normal Seo In Guk show. It's too, umm, can I say mainstream?? But hey- he looks adorable (as per usual) and the overall feel is magical and cute- so I hope it works well for him. Its about time he gets the popularity he deserves.

Also this being his last show before going off our screens for two years (!!!!), I really hope that Shopping King Louie becomes a ratings hit so that when he comes back he has awesome offers lined up for him (I know they would still be lined up- as he is an awesome actor, but I guess the fan-girls would understand what I want to convey).

OT, but related, did anyone watch Law of the Jungle? SIG is funny in it, and adorable. He actually cried, almost. Oh and he such a goof. Looking forward to the next episode.

Yes, i've seen him in the new eps LotJ. He's such good in nature, born to be the leader, unselfish and good hunter. With this qualities i have no doubt he can survive in the jungle, even it can reflected in entertainment industry. And i like his chemistry with Lee Sun Bin there.

Seo In-Guk can come to my screen and smile looking at me and I'd still watch that for an hour. Bonus is Yoon Sang-hyun who is an excellent actor and I am so glad that he is a part of this. His connection to odd-ball leads with love for tracksuit seems to have stuck with him, can't say I don't love that.

Honestly the best thing about this drama is a) Seo In Guk and b) Seo In Guk's impeccable taste in choosing dramas, because I know and trust and believe that this time we can actually get a quality rom-com drama that dOES NOT THROW IN CANCER AS A MELO TWIST A FEW EPISODES IN.

Really hoping this drama succeed despite the lead of JI and On the Way to the Airport. It seems that this drama will fit the light-hearted fluffiness that the Korean audience prefers. Can't wait to see Nam Ji Hyun onscreen again since I didn't watch her last drama. Definitely one of the gifted child to adult actresses.

It seems that the writer n PD is throwing ALL the kdrama tropes to us. Even the posters look, formulaic? They ARE cute. And SIG is always ADORABLE, no matter how many birthday celebration he has had lol.

Crossing my fingers there's something MORE in the story. There must be something that made SIG chose this drama.

She is, indeed. I remember at the time when I was so amazed at the actress who played little Deokman, because she was so good at acting at such a young age. Then I watched all her previous work, and it dawned to me that this girl is talented at acting even since she was a very little girl. About time she got her much deserved leading role in a drama, and with my bias to boot!

I mean, he's already a bit older than the other cast, but do we need that rubbed in our faces with that farcical moustache??

Yeay Seo Inguk! Haha I love the fact that Seo Inguk continuously chose different roles and always did his best to all his characters. Take Lee Min Suk for example(first SIG drama that I fell in love right away), he is such a charmer that I forgot SIG was acting as Lee Min Suk, so does the other characters(Yun Jae,Lee Hyun, Jung Do). So I am confident that SIG are gonna portray this Louie character with flying colours, and I need to confessed something here; never in my experience of many years as k-drama lover have I encounter such a charmer actor as SIG! I have liked many actors in my k-drama resumes, but SIG now residing at the to of my heart without any doubt, he is such a natural; be it in a dramas or variety shows. Haha and I have watched SIG in the LOTJ in Mongolia too! What a charmer! Aish!
