Bring It On, Ghost: Episode 6

We get some focus on the main characters in this episode, and a chance to see them drop the ghost-hunting and just be college kids having fun. But while the living are enjoying themselves, Hyun-ji is in an emotional crisis, coming to terms with feelings that have been sneaking up on her. But at the same time she’s also reminded that she’s a ghost, with no place in the living world, which may be the hardest thing Hyun-ji has to accept.

EPISODE 6 RECAP

A man hikes through the forest, lost, and stumbles down a steep incline into a deep pile of leaves. Something catches his eye and he looks closer… and screams. It’s a dead body.

Back in town, Hye-sung burns the contents of a bag containing, among other things, his filthy clothing and the student Hyun-joo’s school ID.

When Bong-pal wakes the next morning, Hyun-ji is still by his bedside. She’s fallen asleep with her head on the bed, and her hand in his. He vaguely remembers waking from his nightmare last night and seeing her there, and he smiles. But Hyun-ji also wakes and they both jerk away from each other, and Hyun-ji quickly poofs away.

Bong-pal realizes that today is his mother’s memorial day, and dresses in his best suit. He tells Hyun-ji he’s not going anywhere fun, but he doesn’t object when she insists on tagging along. Hyun-ji watches as Bong-pal performs the memorial rites, while monk Myung-chul chants prayers for her spirit.

Afterward, Myung-chul asks if Bong-pal has heard from his father, but the truth is that nobody has, lately. Bong-pal is quietly thoughtful on the trip home, and Hyun-ji tells her best silly jokes to make him laugh.

With two new members and a fistful of cash, Chun-sang and In-rang attempt to convince the school to reinstate their ghost-hunting club. It’s too late to re-establish the old club, but Chun-sang thought ahead and applied to start a new club, Soondae Soup, and already has approval.

They even get their old club room back, and enter the room with awe and reverence and even a few tears, ha. They snuggle happily on the couch, hand in hand, just so happy to be home and together.

It’s a lovely day, so Hyun-ji proposes a picnic, which of course Bong-pal turns down because they both need to study. He leans in very close to pluck a cherry blossom from Hyun-ji’s hair, and the contact makes her heart speed up and her cheeks go all pink. Embarrassed, she poofs away again to collect her emotions.

Kyung-ja finds her, and says that she’s determined to stay on campus until she finds her newest man again. Hyun-ji asks if ghosts can get fluttery feelings and Kyung-ja says they can, same as when they were alive. Hyun-ji admits that whenever she sees Bong-pal her heart flutters and she gets nervous, and Kyung-ja theorizes that Hyun-ji is in love. Well that, or she died of a heart attack.

Appreciating the nice weather, Chun-sang and In-rang cook up an idea to take the whole club on a camping trip. They know Bong-pal won’t want to go, so the way to get him on board is to get Seo-yeon on board. They lay a heavy sob story on her about how they’ve never been on a school trip, batting their eyelashes at her and convincing her to go.

Distracted by Kyung-ja’s theory that she’s in love, Hyun-ji doesn’t notice a baseball coming right at her face. Luckily Bong-pal arrives in time to catch it, and Hyun-ji swoons hard when she sees him again.

Of course, as soon as he opens his mouth he breaks the spell, fussing at Hyun-ji for not paying attention. He asks why she keeps disappearing today, but when Hyun-ji flirts that he must have missed her, he just snarks that it was nice to be able to focus on his classes for once. Ha.

Chun-sang and In-rang approach Bong-pal, all smiles, and tell him about the trip they’ve planned. Bong-pal isn’t so sure, but everything is paid for (Hyun-ji: “You love free things!”), and when the boys drop Seo-yeon’s name, it’s all over. Heh, suddenly Hyun-ji doesn’t want to go anymore.

Hyun-joo’s body is finally identified, and it’s determined that she was strangled to death by hand. But her neck was broken, which would indicate that someone uncommonly strong killed her, but the only other suspicious detail is that she was absent from Hye-sung’s class the day before she died.

Seo-yeon brings the little stray puppy back to Hye-sung’s clinic to ask if he can stay there while she’s out of town. Hye-sung shows a worrying interest when Seo-yeon mentions that Bong-pal will also be on the trip. Seo-yeon also brings Hye-sung a new pen to thank him for everything, and leaves the dog with him.

When Hyun-ji tries to whine Bong-pal into staying home and skipping the trip, he tells her that she can stay home if she wants, and use the time to study. Yeah, that’ll happen. She goes along anyway, and he just warns her not to call attention to herself since there will be so many others around.

On the drive down to the cottage, Chun-sang teases that Bong-pal and Seo-yeon look like a couple, since they’re wearing the same color shirt. Bong-pal and Seo-yeon just smile, but Hyun-ji yells that it’s not even the same shade of light blue, hee.

The boys take them to a really nice little cottage, which just happens to belong to In-rang’s family. I’m gonna laugh if he turns out to be a chaebol. But then they can’t even get in the house because In-rang’s grandmother doesn’t know they’re here, and has changed the passcode.

In-rang ends up setting off the alarm, and In-rang convinces his grandmother to let them use the house. He has a bad fall on the stairs once they’re inside, hitting his head and ringing his bell pretty good, and for a second he sees Hyun-ji when she comes to check on him. Chun-sang slaps him sober and Hyun-ji disappears, but In-rang is convinced he saw an angel.

Chun-sang decides to play Cupid and sends Bong-pal and Seo-yeon to get ramyun, not that either of them object. After they leave he hauls two huge bags of ramyun from the bottom of the food box, and Hyun-ji figures out what he’s doing and smacks his water bottle while he’s taking a drink, ha.

Hyun-ji runs out to tell Bong-pal that they don’t need ramyun after all, but he wants to go with Seo-yeon since she said she needed to get something else. Hyun-ji argues that she can go alone, but he leaves with Seo-yeon anyway.

Seo-yeon is confused when Bong-pal buys an extra ice cream at the store, but he just claims he really likes ice cream. On the walk back, Seo-yeon admits that she only came on the trip because the boys begged, but now she’s glad she came.

She adds that she feels closer to Bong-pal now, which makes him shy. As they get closer to the cottage Bong-pal notices Hyun-ji sitting alone on a pier over the lake, but he doesn’t stop.

In-rang is still nursing his bonked head when they get back, and Chun-sang tosses his ice cream to him, whacking him on the head again. Bong-pal has to grab the extra ice cream away from greedy Chun-sang, and he takes it down to Hyun-ji who’s still brooding on the pier, unaware that below, a water ghost waits.

Bong-pal gives Hyun-ji the stink-eye at dinner when she gets excited to see alcohol, hee, but he does surreptitiously set aside a little plate of meat for her. When Seo-yeon passes Bong-pal a bite of sausage, Hyun-ji demands it too, but Bong-pal has to eat it or draw suspicion.

Chun-sang starts talking about what a good couple Bong-pal and Seo-yeon would make, so Hyun-ji gets jealous again and blows the smoke from the grill into Seo-yeon’s face. Bong-pal glares at Hyun-ji and switches places with Seo-yeon, leaving Hyun-ji feeling left out again.

Back in the city, the police approach Hye-sung regarding Hyun-joo’s death, since she missed his class the day before she disappeared. Hye-sung plays innocent, feigning surprise to hear she’s dead, claiming not to really know much about her. He gives nothing away, but something about him seems to bother one of the cops.

Chun-sang and In-rang gleefully splash in the lake after dinner, and they end up pushing in the reluctant Bong-pal and Seo-yeon. The four have fun playing in the water, while Hyun-ji watches from a nearby hill. They take a break for selcas, and Hyun-ji inserts herself between Bong-pal and Seo-yeon, flipping Seo-yeon’s hair in her face petulantly. Ha.

Back at the station the cops discuss Hye-sung, and we see that the suspicious one saw Hye-sung smirk at their business card. After some research they learn that Hye-sung has an opportunity to teach at a foreign veterinary college, but he canceled his acceptance at the last minute and took the position at Bong-pal’s school instead.

That night, Hye-sung breaks into Bong-pal’s apartment and skulks around, looking at his family photos. He goes into the room containing Bong-pal’s mother’s belongings and takes one of the books (diaries maybe?) labeled April of 1993.

Out at the cottage the group bring the party inside, and Seo-yeon asks why they named the club Soondae Soup. Chun-sang gives an inspiring explanation about soondae soups being a healing food, plus Bong-pal first agreed to help them at a soondae soup restaurant. They launch into some fun drinking games, and even Bong-pal gets into the silliness. But this leaves Hyun-ji feeling left out again, since she can’t participate in the games.

Myung-chul goes to Bong-pal’s place and passes Hye-sung on his way out, and something about the man seems to give Myung-chul a chill. Hye-sung also senses something, and recalls a memory of Myung-chul in stronger days, wielding a sword and looking strong and confident.

He turns to Myung-chul, murmuring, “It’s been a long time,” and continues on his way. ~shiver~

The club friends end up playing a truth game, and Chun-sang asks Seo-yeon if there’s anyone she likes. She smiles and says there is, which makes Bong-pal smile. It’s In-rang’s turn to ask a question, but something about being drunk as a skunk has him suddenly seeing Hyun-ji sitting next to the table. He starts to babble about an angel again, and Chun-sang just grabs his face to shush him.

Chun-sang continues the game, asking Seo-yeon if the person she likes is here in the room. Bong-pal watches eagerly, but he wilts when her answer is No. Awww, poor puppy. He asks if she likes that person a lot, and Seo-yeon nods that she does.

It’s Bong-pal’s turn to answer questions, and Seo-yeon asks if he likes anyone. He doesn’t answer and just gulps his drink, and Hyun-ji, who was smiling to herself at Seo-yeon’s answers, now looks upset for him.

Bong-pal and Seo-yeon both leave the table, so Chun-sang spins the bottle again, and this time it points to Hyun-ji. She recalls Kyung-ja saying that she probably fell in love with Bong-pal, and she admits the truth to herself, “Yes, I think so.”

She’s sitting by the lake again when Seo-yeon unwittingly joins her, and dangles her feet off the pier. The water ghost grabs Seo-yeon by the ankle and yanks her into the lake, but before Hyun-ji can think of what to do, Bong-pal sees Seo-yeon struggling and runs to the rescue.

He shoves Hyun-ji out of the way and grabs Seo-yeon’s hand, and Chun-sang and In-rang come help pull her out of the water to safety. Seo-yeon weakly tells them that it felt like someone pulled her into the water, and as Bong-pal heads to the store for some medicine for her cut knee, he gives Hyun-ji a little “follow me” nod.

Once they’re alone, Bong-pal accuses Hyun-ji of playing tricks on Seo-yeon, and he doesn’t believe her when she says she didn’t do this. Since he’s not listening anyway, Hyun-ji takes the blame angrily, and Bong-pal yells that she should have stayed home.

Hurt, Hyun-ji agrees that she shouldn’t have followed Bong-pal. She poofs away, back down to the pier, and Bong-pal walks on with just a glare in her direction.

He asks the store owner if there’s a pharmacy nearby, and she grows alarmed when he says they were in the water behind the cottage. That water is famous for being haunted, and people drown there on an alarmingly regular basis. Hearing that, Bong-pal runs panicking back to the cottage.

At the lake, the water ghost reaches up and grabs Hyun-ji’s ankle, pulling her down into the water. As he runs, Bong-pal recalls Hyun-ji’s insistence that she didn’t hurt Seo-yeon, and his own accusation: “You were the only one around her. Who else could it be?”

As her head breaks the surface of the water, Hyun-ji has only a second to call Bong-pal’s name. He hears, and runs even faster. He dives into the lake, just in time to see Hyun-ji sinking into the depths. He swims deeper, but she’s out of reach.

COMMENTS

Oh, good cliffhanger. Normally we introduce and wrap up each ghost in one episode, but I liked the focus on the strengthening friendships in this case, with the actual ghost-hunting put on the back burner for once to let us learn more about the characters and their growing relationships. And what a beautifully-shot final scene by the way — I loved the slow motion, and the melancholy music to go along with Bong-pal’s fear that he could lose Hyun-ji.

This is what I’ve been waiting for, for Bong-pal and the ghost-hunting goobers to finally get to spend some quality time together. Having everyone stuck together on their trip really brought out a lot of fun stuff — Bong-pal’s crush, Seo-yeon’s apparent reciprocation of his feelings and ultimate rejection, and Hyun-ji’s growing jealousy and realization of her own feelings. The close proximity finally brought the ghost-hunting team together to interact in a fun way like I’ve been hoping to see, where they can become friends and not just business partners. Bong-pal especially needs a friend or two, and goodness knows Chun-sang and In-rang would be loyal for life if he’d only let them in a little. Hopefully this is the start of something great.

But on the flip side, this episode also made me start to feel a little bad for Hyun-ji — it’s good that she’s found Bong-pal, who can see and hear and touch her, and who feeds her and gives her new clothes. I even like their bickering and sniping at each other, and Bong-pal’s adorable irritation at her constant presence. But the poor girl has to beg for everything she gets, and the club trip really seemed to hammer home how truly excluded Hyun-ji is from the things that the living take for granted. She’s just a college-aged girl too, but she can’t even do simple things like go swimming with her friends or participate in silly games. She has to rely on Bong-pal’s good nature for everything, and even though Bong-pal can see her, he’s still forced to ignore her when he’s around others or risk finding himself an outcast again.

I actually think Chun-sang and In-rang would accept Hyun-ji’s presence once they got to know her, though it would help if they could see her, and hopefully In-rang seeing her when he conked his head, then again after he was drinking, is the start to them bringing her into their little group as more than a hanger-on. The show has already established that regular people can see ghosts under certain circumstances, so for Hyun-ji’s sake I hope the boys figure out a way to see her on a regular basis.

And all that is before we even get to Hyun-ji’s feelings for Bong-pal, which are more bittersweet than I expected. What more futile feeling can there be than for a ghost to love a human, when they can never be together? Yes, Hyun-ji’s feelings are way ahead of Bong-pal’s because of the torch he’s carrying for Seo-yeon, but eventually I’m sure (and maybe even soon, after this scare with the water ghost), he’ll realize that he has feelings for Hyun-ji in return. But even if Bong-pal falls in love with her, it’s not like they can ever have a life together — he’ll eventually get a career and want a family, and she’ll perpetually be 19 and, you know, dead. Not to mention his deep desire to stop seeing ghosts altogether.

For that reason I really hope the show has a solution to Hyun-ji’s past that doesn’t have her truly dead — I would be very happy if she turned out to be in a coma, for example. Normally I’d find that sort of convenient “twist” a storytelling cop-out, but I love these characters so much already, I just want them to be together and happy. If that means a predicable twist in the plot, I’m all for it in this case. There are some shows that you want to surprise and amaze you, and some shows that you just want to see the leads in love, no matter how they get there. For me, this is definitely one of the second kind, and I’m happy to accept any trope if that means Hyun-ji isn’t really dead.

First, I sincerely hope she is also in a coma. I would hate for lonely Bong Pal to lose her. Second, isn't there some sort of double jeopardy rule for ghosts? Once you die you can't die again? How could she drown? I hope they explain this in the next episode.

I think it's sort of similar to the boy who continues to be abused by his stepfather as a ghost. She won't die, but she can still experience the feeling of drowning. Pretty scary.

The "second death" will probably serve to jolt her memory in some way?

I was also thinking that maybe she isn't. There are a few things that made me hoped for it. The fact that her ghost powers don't work when she is tired and that she actually can bump into things for example or the fact that despite being dead for five years she still looks like a human when all the ghosts that we saw are sort of glowing or very pale (except for the little boy at the very end).

Disillusion?

She has been trapped in a coma for five years, I think. that is the reason why she is a ghost, but not totally a ghost. She will gradually recover toward the end, and we will have a happy ending to swoon!

They should do a Bond movie with that title.

The other ghosts have this monochrome vibe even with the colors and pale look, Hyun Ji is colorful and almost like an angle so I still think she isn't dead. Lying in a coma somewhere and probably won't remember a thing when she wakes up.

True! Maybe if she really did die as a ghost, she'd truly vanish...and I certainly hope she's in coma...she's too...human, to be truly dead..

Yes! If she is in coma, maybe she can die while being a ghost and then really die. I was also thinking that unlike the other ghosts she doesn't have an obsession (like her friend with guys for example)

I've been trying to figure out why Hyun Ji gets to look so pretty when all other ghosts look so, well, dead and corpsified. Not actually being dead would be a good explanation. I like it.

I do have to say that she is somewhat less attractive now that she's all corpsified and gross.

but there is the argument that she is just too pretty for God to let her die.

I felt SO SAD for Hyun Ji in this episode. She loves to have fun and watching all of them playing games and fooling around on the retreat must have been so bittersweet for her. But in a way I am also glad she went with Bong Pal on the trip because if she had stayed in the apartment, she would've run into the creepy professor!

I bet Seo-yeon likes the professor, which just makes me ughhhh. Like please get away from him - he killed your classmate! And now I am really curious about the backstory between Myung-chul and Hye Sung. Because it seemed that they didn't really recognize how the other looked but as soon as they walked past each other and sort of like sensed each other's energy, they realized they had met before.

While I'm glad the cop seems to have sensed something wrong with Hye Sung, now I'm really scared for him, too. I can't really imagine Hye Sung being effectively contained by a prison or jail. I think the only way for him to be stopped is by Bong Pal or someone like that.

The ending was beautiful but I REALLY cannot handle waiting another week for another episode!!! aghhh the cliffhanger :((( I love this show so much...

About the professor (Hye Sung), I think he's possessed just like in Oh My Ghostess. He probably sold his soul to the devil or smth to be smart and perfect lol idk.

Well, he got a raw deal if he sold his soul to the devil to be the perfect veterinarian, but now cats (and possibly other animals) can't stand to be around him. This is why you should never sell your soul to the devil.

On a second note, is it not an established myth in most cultures that dogs can sense evil presence and will almost always bark if they're around some sort of supernatural energy. What I understood from the nurses back-talking is that he was very popular and gifted just like now before but suddenly chose to move bases and joined the university. I wonder if that has something to do with Bong Pal, why the fixation on him though, he was child when the mother died and doesn't seem to be hunting down the yellow eyed monster so why chase him around, to get to his Dad, Dad's a mystery too.

I'm kinda puzzled. How is it that he was so nice to the little dog even though it bit/scratched him, but killed the cat when it did the same thing?

How is it that the dog was ok with him, but the cat was not?

Required fields are marked *

Lol. That reminds me of my daughter. She can't get near my cat and he loves everyone. It kills her because she is such a cat lover, to the point that her first word was "cat." Thankfully she has her own cat that adores her. This proves that she is not possessed by some evil spirit.

Required fields are marked *

That's funny. I'm guessing that the evil spirit had knowledge that Bong Pal was at the university and he took over the vet to be able to find him and get close to him and find his papa. After all the vet had a successful practice somewhere else and was offered a teaching position in the states. But he turned that down and now has a less successful practice. Just feel sorry for the real vet.

Well i think its safe to say its confirmed that he's possessed by the evil ghost that killed Bong pals mom. I also wouldn't mind Hyun Ji being in a coma and coming back to real life. She does look different then the other ghost that we have seen and maybe her lack of memories is because of the trauma to her head in the accident. I'm sure a quick internet search could have found the accident report but hey its a drama right haha I've never read the source material so I'm not sure how the story goes.

I guess the drama needed to prolong the mystery surrounding Hyun-ji's death so they made her into an amnesiac ghost. They didn't really have that problem in the webtoon...since Hyun-ji never really lost all her memory there. She just didn't know how she died. So she definitely knew that she lived all her life just studying for the SATs. And that's why she's convinced that her regret is not being able to take the exam. So after she fought with Bong-pal when they first met...they ended up striking a deal that Hyun-ji will tutor Bong-pal so he could get into university (at the same time she gets to use that time to study for her own SATs too) and she gets to stay at his place. Hyun-ji was actually smarter than Bong-pal in the webtoon. She was also only dead for 2 years in the webtoon instead of 5. The drama had to change a lot around since they had to change Bong-pal into a university student.

Hyun Ji is not as dead-looking(?) than the other ghosts, so I hope it really has a connection or a hint that she's not dead yet and not just for a fact that they want the main character to look pretty in pink, and In-rang seeing Hyun ji as an angel instead of a ghost, that says a lot. I really don't care if I will not get surprise on a plot twist either, as long as Bong pal and Hyun Ji can be together with no boundaries then I will be happy.

Seriously it's a crime if Hyun Ji is not alive.

Chun-sang and In-rang!!!! they're funniest in this episode

Well, now the coma theory has been mentioned in a recap. My hopes are officially up (dangit--I really, REALLY don't want to be heartbroken by the romance at the end of this...)

Did anyone else think she was flickering in an out a bit during that last scene? Like she was going to disappear?

I totally agree, LollyPip, about Hyun-Ji being the odd ghost out. The game scene totally broke my heart, with all of them going around and around and playing... and never passing it to her. Oof.

Side note, I've totally played one of the games they played. The one with the snappy hands and stuff. It's called Bunny bunny (at least, that's what we called it) and it's hilarious. Thanks for the recap!

I DID noticed she was flickering, but since no one said anything I was starting to think it was because I was without my glasses. Now I'm worried that the drowning thing works for her like an exorcism. I mean, Bong Pal and Hyun Ji always beat up ghosts until they dissapear, what if she DOES dissapear if "dying" again?

Required fields are marked *

Now that you guys mentioned it...she really was flickering. I wonder if it was intentional or just a lighting effect. But Hyun-ji's neck also suddenly went ghostly white when Miz was strangling her in ep 3. I wasn't sure if it was just a make-up or CG error. But it makes sense...Hyun-ji can weaken other ghosts whenever she helps Bong-pal exorcise other ghosts. So it probably just goes both ways...if another ghost harms her...then she can get weakened too and maybe even also 'disappear'.

I've got to say I love the whole GhostNet club (including Hyunji, because she joined the MT, she's automatically a member in my eyes). Even Seoyeon seems to be a great girl - she's kind, confident, and caring. I don't know whether she knew of Bongpal's crush, but she doesn't appear to be a cruel person and she didn't try to lead him on. If I'm reading correctly, she's just a very goodhearted girl who's willing to hang with three (four) misfits because they all seem nice.

The Dumb & Dumber Duo are so cute and funny, but as weird as they are, these guys are also great sports. They found Bongpal different but didn't really think he's weird. I like that when Inrang hit his head or got drunk, he sees Hyunji too - this only fortifies that Bongpal is not totally a weird dude for being able to see ghosts. It's just that some have ENHANCED ability, some need help from alcohol. Lol.

I absolutely adore this show. Everything about it feels just right .. and that hasn't happened in a while for me! :p To begin with- how mad funny are in rang and chun sang! Hahah.. in rangs hilariously high pitched freakouts get me LoLing pretty hard! And i really haven't seen any other dramas of bong pal but he's totally nailing this role. When hyun ji keeps asking him about why he is alone and doesn't he want to hang out with other people..his response really got to me.. because it felt to me like he was trying to convince himself as well. And hyun ji is note perfect.. she really is a tremendously talented actress...expect more awesome stuff from her in the future! The villain was beginning to feel just a little flat but his interaction with the shaman did give me the chills!
Ps- sorry for the superlong comment. But i love this genre.. supernatural and spooky with feels but also not ouright in a im-gonna-die-of-a-heart-attack scary!! #cannothandlehorror

Translations only go up to chapter 62...you have to buy the rest of the chapters from naver...but I think you also need to have a korean account (i.e. have proof that you live there). You can just type in Let's fight ghost chapter 49...until you get to 62. I think mangapark has until chapter 62.

Hyun Ji is acting too childish in this episode. Yes Bong Pal would give her food but demanding him to do it in front of his friends is just a no-no. Also messing with Seo Yeon. I feel bad for her that she's like an outcast in which only Bong Pal can sense her but she doesn't need to act so childish.

I'm sad for Bong Pal that Seo Yeon doesn't like him though I can't be the only one hoping that she was just purposely trying to avoid answering. I have a feeling that she actually DOES like him. I mean why else would she agree to just join Sang and Rang's sketchy club AND MT just because Bong Pal is (supposedly) there? She probably would have just avoided Sang and Rang at all if she had absolutely no interest in Bong Pal. I hope Seo Yeon has a more active role in the ghost hunting club other than being bait for Bong Pal.

The drowning scene. Well she can't die if she's already dead can she? I hope it triggers her memories and she remembers committing suicide by jumping off a bridge because she was bullied... oh wait wrong drama. Or what if this was the aftermath?

Am I the only one hoping Hyun Joo comes back as an enemy ghost, fights with our leads, then later gets recruited by Bong Pal so she can help stop the vet? I'm pretty sure she's got to have some grudge that would keep her from passing on if she was unjustly murdered. Then maybe Seo Yeon can have a better role other than being bait for Bong Pal.

Seo Yeon don't get too close to the vet, or if you do, don't get killed. I can't be the only one wanting more screen time for her (She's seriously really pretty.).

I too kinda expect Hyun Joo's ghost to show up sometime.

Meanwhile, the ghost of School 2015 seems to be haunting us both.

Excuse my intrusion, but I don't think Hyun Joo's ghost will appear. Did you notice how pale her dead body is? Dead people don't normally look like that. My theory is that the professor feeds off on souls..or something sinister that is in line with that...

I hope she's not dead too. She deserves to be alive.

I think they might have her in a coma and with the condition that she'll forget everything about BP, kind of like that movie with Mark Ruffalo and Reesse Witherspoon, she awakes from coma and can't remember him... Something like that.

I felt sorry for her reading this recap, cuz to me she's was hoping/wishing to be part of all the fun the others shared :(

I like the cliffhanger. Can't. Wait 4 next week.

Thanks for the recap! :D

i am with you guys on the coma theory (think: Gong-shil three years coma in Master's Sun), but wonder if the name on her uniform is really hers. Flashbacks of her accident scene showed her staring at the signboard of a language school. That seems like an impt clue.

Since this is dramaland, I also wonder if her accident is related to Prof Hye Song or the death of BongPal's mom in any way (think: Oh my Ghostess where the female spirit was killed by the demon who crippled the male lead's sister).

Anyone remembers the scene where Myung-chul was at the recycling station but ended up arguing with the neighbour Ajumma? Ajumma said Bong Pal's apartment had been vacant for years and nobody is living there. Is Bong Pal deliberately hiding from his neighbours? Why?

There's also the scene where the little kids call Bong Pal a ghost. It jolted me cause I had read a theory on here that he might be one when the ajumma said no one had lived there for years. But that doesn't make sense because too many people do see him.

I guess there's always a chance there are different kinds of ghosts and ghostiness. Not expecting it but there's a chance.

It was weird that girl gave the vet a pen of all things too. Coincidence much? I actually started to suspect her. Maybe the vet only started getting weird after he met her?

Paranoia maybe but I think there might be more going on below the surface that hasn't yet been revealed for more characters than than the vet.

Yes, SeoYeon is odd. She seem too composed and too deliberate. By that i mean, she had been the trigger for several key events thus far..

eg. the death of her fren HyunJoo. If your lecturer's pen fell out from your fren's bag, won't you be curious and ask the fren first? Why did SeoYeon return it directly to the Prof and told him HyunJoo had picked it up?

eg. she asked Prof to babysit her dog and mentioned she is going for team bldg with BongPal etc. Perhaps she was just creating more opportunities to spend time with her Crush, but, this seem out-of-character. Her role has been quite classy and cool.

Perhaps, she too, can see HyunJi.

I am so tempted to read the webtoon now!!! But no, i shall be patient...ugh!

What are the washing instructions for ghost dresses? That pond probably isn't exactly the cleanest water ever. Is it time for a new product-placement dress next week?

If Bong-Pal buys a slinky little black replacement dress and reaches for some matches, does Hyun-Ji have any choice about wearing it?

How deep is that pond anyway? It seemed no more than waist deep when they were playing around earlier -- only in Korea can you sink 20 feet in 3 feet of water.

Maybe the burning only works if she wants to wear it?

LOL! I remember those BOF scenes! I yelled at my TV each time, "Listen carefully to my instructions: STAND UP."

Same here until I saw the depth changed magically once the girls got pulled under water.

Also, I'd think that Bong-pal would've had many broken bones from diving into such shallow water. Details, details...

Yes, to a non-ghost-seer, it would look like Bong-pal was leaving half the seat empty just to squish up against Seo-yeon. Awkward much? No wonder the comic-relief guys think they're a couple.

But anyways, it's dramaland so i am not going to harp on this point. Am just hapy he get to sit so close with his Crush...haha!

Anyone notice that the girl the professor killed seemed to be buried in a pink dress like Hyun Ji's? I think the professor (or the thing possessing him) had something to do with her death.

This was a sad episode for poor Hyun-ji all around. When Bong Pal blamed her for Seo-yeon's accident, I really felt for her. He knows she can be childish but for her to go to that extent seemed beyond her character. And he should have realized that.

Also, I agree with it ending with her being in a coma! I love them together and would hate for her to be an actual ghost and they don't get a HEA.

"He should have realized that." How? By watching the drama like you and I? It's a logical assumption on his part, considering she was the only known ghost around at the time. Plus she was constantly messing with Seo Yeon before that.

Perfectly understand why BongPal would jump to the wrong conclusion at first. But when HyunJi denied hurting SeoYeon, a true friend would had taken a moment to reconsider the situation. HyunJi is playful but never cruel...

No matter how i look at it, it boils down to BongPal being so love-struck that he placed the Crush above the Friendship.

Oh well. He is just being human... :P Still, he done HyunJi a huge injustice.

Yes but we've also seen ghosts poof out of another ghost's grip when being physically harmed. Plus again, this ghost isn't actively hurting our heroine, just pulling her under water, since she's dead it shouldn't affect her the same way.

Hhrrghgg, this show has me so conflicted. While I'm super into the story telling and find the characters to be wonderfully written I just cannot get over the age gap of the actors. And to be honest I don't want to. It is one alarming trend that hopefully will not gain any more traction.

Hyun-ji is sooo cute. I hope she is just in a coma and would soon wake up to see Bong Pal. I want them to have a happy ending. Well, it is just a wish.

I will be watching this till the end no matter how can a ghost die twice or thrice. i don't want to hurt my head thinking about a logical reasoning and besides this is just a drama/story.

I just love this show.

I was slightly annoyed with Hyunji this episode. I mean, I feel for her when she obviously couldn't join in the fun with the gang, like eating and playing with them. But in the same time, she does have to understand that Bongpal can't cater to her needs everytime when he is around people. And I thought blowing the smoke towards Seoyeon and messing with her hair was petty. But, I've never been a big fan of kdrama characters doing something jealous-petty anyway, so that's just me.

I do believe that Hyunji is in a coma. I'm not sure if they're linked, but in the past episodes, there was a time when she couldn't go through Bongpal's doors, and then there was that time when she couldn't *poof* to where she wanted to be. Hyunji thought it was just because she was tired, but I'm more inclined to think that it's because she isn't really a full-on ghost.

I think this episode gave too much time to the (supposed) comic relief guys (that I don't find comical at all, just stupid) and not enough to our leading pair and/or to the (serial?) murder plot by the evil professor.

I am thinking more and more she is a coma patient as she lacks the deeply pale nature of the ghosts we have seen.

I am still creeped by the evil doctor. My roomie and I think the reason the police could not get fingerprints from her neck is the level of strength used cause them to smear making them impossible to get.

I'm confused that so many here have trouble with the thought of her dying.
Did any of you watch the episodes before this one?
All the other Ghosts were either killed or send to the afterlife. So Ghosts can be killed or destroyed or whatever
they can also suffer and be hurt by other Ghosts
all of this has been established already.
So of course he is afraid of what might happen to her.

Wondered what happen between the monk and Hye Sung after that chilling meeting, did they just went their separate way? I thought they were going to start a duel then and there :O
Tho by this episode it seems Hye Sung has been validated as the bad guy, am still hoping that this is one big red herring. Mainly because the show make it super obvious, like the police ajushhi seeing his smirk when usually nobody catches bad guys doing blunder like that until the penultimate episode, but also because of under influence of Squad 38 and the conning spirit...
He could be possessed by a sort of police ghost trying to catch the one who killed Bong Pal's mom, maybe? Like a guard dog from the other side.
Absolutely loving the romance development but are afraid since we haven't even reach the halfway mark, which means there might be angst and separation in the middle, oh noes. Also, hoping adorable baby In Rang won't fall for Hyun Ji and left his other half Sang!

I haven't finished watching the episode. But i am so compelled to make a comment with the most ridiculous thing that just happened.

A flower petal got stuck in our ghost heroine Kim Hyun-Ji's hair. How on earth is that possible? Objects goes past her unless she tried to hold them, don't they?

Wouldn't it be ridiculous if petals float in the air because it gets stuck in ghosts' hair? I cannot...

Taecyeon and Kim So Hyun in one screen is just sparklingly beautiful, but the show is poorly written. Like a webtoon with one ghost fighting episode every time. And we just get some cute budding romance every end of the episode to make us forget that we spent an hour of bullxx*t. And I can't decide if that's crafty or a bigger bullxx*t, which I'm buying.

I really enjoyed the ride so far, but I'm in serious need of some character development. I really hope for 2 things to change after this episode:

a) It's time for Bong Pal to stop hurting Hyun Ji's feelings and not make her literally beg for every second of his attention (him saying the magic word 'sorry' is way overdue by the way!)

b) Also it's time for Hyun Ji to give me a break and drop doing those childish things to get his attention...please let him miss you for once girl.... you won't make him realize how he likes being around you by annoying him

This said, I really felt sorry for Hyun Ji in that episode. This time she didn't succeed to override her loneliness with her happy go lucky attitude. On top of discovering her feelings she must have felt hell of rejected by Bong Pal, since he pushes her away in an extra cold and ignorant manner when his crush is around. At this point I'm slightly annoyed at his self centered attitude, his lack of empathy and compassion for Hyun Ji since more than anyone he should know how unpleasant loneliness feels. I even had this little outburst when he got rejected -> HA! Karma Baby!!
Although I give him one little benefit for not completely forgetting about Hyun Ji while buying ice cream :)

I tried to reduce waiting time by sneaking a peek at the webtoon.. but I somehow can't manage to connect with the drawing style. So I'm back to waiting for the next episode

If any of you want to go back to that very scene, you could see those petals weren't falling as fast as they could.. Heck, these were falling petals in slow motion.
Logically, objects pass through ghosts, so technically the petal was passing through Hyun-ji in the slowest manner enough for Bong Pal to notice.
That should make some sense out of it all.

Here are my thoughts.. (I had to watch oh my ghostess again and then re-watch all 6 episodes of this show..)
1. Hyun-Ji's cause of death is unknown. From the flashback, it seems as though she fell prey to a hit-and-run and she got banged up good.
1.1 If she did get hit by a car, it's possible that the same evil doer is the one that offed Bong Pal's mother.
1.2 So the question leaves us with why her? Like every murder, there has to be motive. I'm more keen in finding out the why than the who.
2. Bong Pal. Unhappy childhood. Unfortunate gift of having to see ghosts. Forever loner.
2.1 Any of you notice the scar on his left shoulder? I'm sure that had to do with the monk saving him before.
2.2 He's saving a ton load of money for his eyes. That could either mean, a.) transplant b.) deciding to go blind for good c.) some powerful talisman juju
2.3 Bong Pal's mom is pretty. The vet seems overly invested and interested in her which leads me to believe that this is a crime of passion and not just some evil ghosts tripping on a random pedestrian.
2.4 If Hyun-ji ends up in a coma and Bong Pal by fate, saves her, then the storyline is predictable. I don't think the writers would make such a mistake. There's a pretzel twist here, she could really be dead --brain wise, with only a ventilator keeping her alive. It's like her parents are waiting for closure and Bong Pal might just be the key.
2.5 We should all be prepared that Bong Pal and Hyun-ji might not end up together.
3. Monk. I love this character. He's crazy in all the right ways. He gave up his powers (I'm assuming) for Bong Pal (acupuncture scene) so I would love to see his story arc and how he'll end up fighting with that lunatic vet. He's close with Bong Pal's father so we have yet to see why Bong Pal and his father had a falling out.
4. Vet. He's your local veterinarian-professor who is downright creepy and evil. He's possessed alright but I think he has always been bad from the on set.
5. Bong Pal's crush. I forgot her name but she seems relevant to the story. I think she'll discover that she in a way, killed her friend by handing over that fountain pen back to the vet and she'll also be the one finding out evil vet's true identity. Bong Pal will save her as he also saves Hyun-ji but since she's dead, he'll end up with this chic. Ugh. No. Please.
6. Chun-sang and In-Rang. I love this comedic duo. They really got the scooby gang together.

This show has disappointed me yet so I'm still a fan. I hope the coming episodes will bring light to how tjings got to where they are. I do hope there's a Hyun-ji is not dead moment. That would be so daebak!

Hyun ji is supposed to be older than Bong Pal so are they gonna do this thing where Hyun Ji is in a coma and has aged but her ghost self is still the same body as when she got into the accident but the real her is like an older actress so that they can have an actual kiss ?

I don't think so.. They might end up making Hyun-ji look older with blacker hair.. She probably "died" somewhere between the age of 17-18 since she was right about to take her SATs.. With the 5 year time jump, she wouldn't have aged significantly.
