It's been a long week Beanies and I'm glad it's Friday.
Being in a foreign country, only with son and husband, I'm awfully lonely and have taken to living through dramas- I watched 3 dramas this week! Beautiful Gong Shim; Thumping Spike; I need Romance 3. Decided my heart can only take 1 real time drama at a time and will watch Oh Hae Young when it's done.
Beautiful Gong Shim is my happy place and I wish I had all the episodes, now! Hope tml's epi bring Gong Shim and Dan Tae closer.
*spoiler?* Getting whiplash between mature/caring Vs I'll-pretend-to-be-injured-to get-attention Dan Tae and I'd prefer the childish antics to be less.
I'm totally crushing Nam Goong Min and I want the show to be good so I can relive those moments where you just want to Squee Over Oppa ?
This is random but I had a total Gong Shim moment when I tripped over the sidewalk curb and fell flat forward in front of too many cars and people :( sadly there was no Nam Goong Min to catch me, but thankfully there was also no Nam Goong Min to hoist me up horizontally airplane style ?
Because of another blog I started watching Thumping Spike and because the epi are 15 min, I was addicted by epi 8 and marathoned it.
@Mary, you have good taste- Song Jae Rim helped make my day.
He doesn't look like a high schooler at all, but it actually helped visually sell the romance more to me. And he should definitely do sporty roles. Any other shows with SJR to recommend?
I realise I quite like sports related dramas. Enjoyed Buzzer Beat and Pride (J-dramas). Any to recommend?
Thanks Beanies! Have a good week ahead :)

Hello~ I'm one of those Mary converted to the Church of Rim. It's not a sports drama, and prepare yourself for major WTFery, but Rim in Nail Shop Paris is SO. HANDSOME. SO SWOONY.
You may also want to check out, Surplus Princess, about a mermaid trying to become human. It's very funny and quite meta, and Rim's also in it. I won't spoil it for you, just have smelling salts ready just in case. Enjoy! :)

Church of Rim! That's awesome.
So... Sounds like for both the only redeeming factor is SJR. One I'm going to go WTF and the other I'm going to need smelling salts. ?
But swoon worthy SJR sounds worth suffering a bit for.

Where are you? How long have you been there? Have you figured out ways to reach out and meet people to feel not quite as lonely?
Sports dramas: There's a whole bunch of Japanese sports dramas (a rowing one, a boxing one, etc) but the one that I really enjoyed was Waterboys. Lots of bromance and very funny. There's also a Korean sports drama, 'something' National Village, I think with Lee Min-ki if my memory is not betraying me. I don't think it has the greatest review but I remember liking it though I would have preferred a focus on friendship over romance in that one.

Hi Alua!
I'm in Sydney- husband working here since Dec, I can't get a job here so I'm stay-at-home-mom.
When we came I was super busy with the kid and home and it took me a long time to get used to cooking/cleaning/kid routine. Now that my kid is more settled in school and I'm freer its gotten a bit lonely cuz I'm not so busy!
But it's really nice to have you guys to chat with and I would have never found Dramabeans and started posting on OT if not for us moving here. So in a sense I'm meeting new people here too! ;)
Will go check out the dramas you mentioned! Thanks!

I haven't done this in a while. Just dropping by to say hello and Oh Hae-young Again is crack. That BBQ kiss was da bomb. I'm still swooning.
I'm nervously waiting for the shit to hit the proverbial fan next week for our favorite couple. Poor Thighs though. His business got wrecked, he was imprisoned and he's going to lose his girl to the guy responsible for it all.
MOTW is very pretty and interesting plot-wise but they need to cut at least 15 minutes per episode.
Beautiful Gong Shim's OTP is...weird but very watchable.
Thumping Spike I checked out for Rim and Climbing Tree but so far (ep 8) I'm bored.

Oh hae young again... It's an awesome drama...truth will pop later... but I really wanted the kiss to happen so their bond tightens... He won't die right!!!! (drama gods you better grant this.. )
Luck romance.. So-hu almost gives me L (death note) feel. Bare feet, siting style, drooped eyes,sweats.... (Only cake is missing..) I would die to see his love story.. Not so comedic but watchable...
Goong shim... That kindergarten crush ADT has is the cutest thing in the world.. I know second lead is all good and Goong shim has a crush on him but ADT is perfect for her...
A drunk cuddling bear, love puzzled L & a pig tail pulling kid..I love them all?

Hey guys! Watching. Mish-mash of dramas right now.
Still LOVING Oh Hae-Young Again, it's so surprisingly thought-provoking and I love reading the fan theories. Seo Hyun-jin continues to kill it!
Unsure about continuing Lucky Romance, it's just so typical.
Mirror of the Witch is still enjoyable and pretty.
I finished both Sassy Go Go and I Remember You this week. I am sooo sad they are over, especially I Remember You. It was so good and has me excited for Police Unit 38 to hurry up and start! I need more SIG.
Started both Best Love and White Christmas. As you can tell, I like to watch one light drama and one dark drama at the same time. Both are really good so far. Best Love is a riot and has great acting. White Christmas reminds me of a Jdrama, in a very good way. It's super chilling.
Which upcoming dramas are you guys most excited to start? For me it's Police Unit 38 and Wanted!

I have got to tell you, Mindy. That is a very nice list of dramas. I rewatched Sassy GoGo yesterday and oh... My hatred for that evil girl almost had me tearing out my hair again. I watched it as the show was going on, and had these one week intervals where I would stew in my hatred of the girl, and then the next week, she would do something even worse. By the end, she was completely unredeemable to me.
Watching Lee Won Geun right after Park Bo Gum... now there is an eye candy week.

Happy Weekend everyone
I still stuck in the loop of Weekend Drama
Happy Home : the sweet date with Lee Seung Woo bittersweet face is damn good. I don't know what to feel since it's really complicated. Will Hae Ryung still together with Dr. Seo if she knew about the surgery?
or she'll go back to her husband? or he will choose to be alone?
Will the husband leave his mom cage?
I actually more open to the chance of dr. Seo, his son and Hae ryung become a new family together. They looked matched.
Five kids : I have still torn apart by the conflict about marriage again or not, it solely depends on the couple IMO. The Golf couple need to get married....lol
Gong Shim : I also was torn between Dan Tae and Jun Su. They both nice guy with diferent charm. It feels like so long when we have guys that just nice and proper with different traits.
My personal preferred is Junsu because I just like people I can converse rather than play with me, I do like someone who played but I prefer it after we knew each other normally,
btw open question
what do you think about drunk honest talk ??
for me, I prefer the not drunk sequence bc it makes the acceptance or the way it leads is start with trust and willingness.
Honest by drunk make it seems more like a chance given by opportunity to know someone, Kdrama land just usually place it with the right person.

I agree with the drunk scene that doesn't look pretty,
maybe SK drinking culture is different but sometimes I think they throw up to other people a lot, hit people and I have to say, they behave annoyingly to other people,
why can't they stop before become too drunk?
1 overly drunk scene is enough for me,
alcohol doesn't need to always become the wingman of truth

Re: Five Kids. I really hate it when a guy is forced to choose between his mother and his girlfriend. I think it's really selfish of mothers to do that when she's not the one the guy will be spending the rest of his life with. It's unfair to the guy and the girlfriend because they're not gonna want to offend the mother.
It made me hate Lee's mom so much.
My mom is so good to my sister-in-law that I don't get how other mother-in-laws can be that overbearing.
Re: Drunk talk. I'm a control freak. I absolutely hate losing control of my body, so I never get myself drunk. I think the litmus test of a person's character is if they can be 100% honest when not drunk so I prefer that.

I really like how Lee confronts her mom with the question about her reasoning, even with that conversation, her reason looked obviously dull , she can't even answer him,
she just doesn't want his son married to a single mom with kids cause "she thinks" her son will be happier with younger-single lady,
it made me disdain her,
I also really hate how she confront Ahn mi jung in the restaurant, she is a mom and a woman, how can she said that to her...

Regarding five children: YES YES the four youths need to meet up and go on a double date already. Stop dragging it out, show!!
And yes, I think ST's mum is being very unrealistic. Has she forgotten it's taken sooo long for him to actually find a woman he likes? And now that he has and is happy, she wants him to break up because that woman is in the exact SAME situation as him? Sigh. Her logic really... But hopefully this means that she's easier to convince?? /crosses fingers/and also WRT HT and SY's baby out of wedlock, I can't believe they expected people to be happy for them, haha. This week has been filled with so many amazing developments in the myriad of dramas I'm watching that I'm considering making it a week of remembrance for myself. For this year (27th of May to 3rd of June 2016) I commemorate the:
1. Amazing wall & BBQ kiss of Another Oh Hae Young
2. The my boss is better than you moment of The Flower in Prison
3. The heartbreaking discovering of Sung Hyun's tragedy in Entertainer
4. The satisfying downfall of chief prosecutor Shim in Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho
5. The start of the fascinating relationship Bo Nui and Soo Ho will have in Lucky Romance
6. Seok Gyun's other side which knocked me out of orbit in Dear My Friends
7. Seol Rim coming into her powers (and what amazing powers they are!) in Mirror of the witch
8. Dan Tae's you look absolutely beautiful even with those pigtails stare in Beautiful Gong Shim
I haven't watched Master God of Noodles yet, so... I can't comment. But basically, it's been a great week, dramawise for me :).

Hey guys, I just happened to notice that most of the dramas usually come from a main theme. There is less versatility in themes in kdramas.
Do you happen to remember any dramas that were different? With a completely new theme never heard of before.

This may not be what you meant when you said different, but I find the heroine in Five Children to be unique and refreshing in the way that she stands up for herself. True, it's not the same way that we westerners would tell someone off, but considering South Korean values and culture when it comes to speaking to elders, I find it hilarious that her in-laws that oppose her relationship, and repeatedly cross the line, can NOT handle her.
I also think it's very different that she has to deal with her ex-husband and his new wife, who is her ex-best friend and her mother. I've never seen that in a K drama before.

Tbvh I think Kdrama tend to have diff conflict but the resolution more often comes with finding love, or the loved one.
The theme is always >>Love<<
it all surrounded in finding you someone that you loved and loved you, which is a good support for life
The drama that tends to be different for me is like the procedural drama and workplace drama like Misaeng or the detective drama.

Honestly, I think ALL Television revolves around love... whether Korean or otherwise. It is such a central and universal theme. It might not be as obvious in American television, because there is a LOT more distraction 'Oh, I got drunk and had sex with that guy. And now it is over with the guy I love because he slept with my sister and now I am having an affair with the president' -_- ... So, it feels more like a slice of life kinda thing, where love just happens to happen to our character, rather than this mission to fall in this grand love that heals everything. But the truth is, at the end of every piece of television I have ever watched. Not always romantic love, it could be filial or even self-love, but LOVE all the same.

but I think kdrama has more tendency to have romance love invoIve in the lead's life.
more j-drama like doctors or doctor x or western drama has the romantic relationship but it doesn't have to stay true until the end or make into the big deal later on the episode, they can go off alone at the end while still solve the problem at work then end the series.
meanwhile, in kdrama almost everything will fall into a romantic relationship with the lead, the lead's friend or the lead's sister, like the equal of solving the problem, is getting the relationship going,
it's not that I totally dislike it,I do like it but Kdrama achievement to end the series depends mostly on how the love romance relationship going and that's pretty much also solve the problem they had with the parents, the workplace, the trauma and so on.

unwarranted romance is not needed,
idk why they just can't leave the romance to be ambiguous so they can make a sequel with that material.
I knew sequel is not the norm but there's no need to rush everyone into a relationship

True. Some storylines are just better without one. What I really hate is Insta-love.
Speaking of Liar Game, I'm on the fence on whether I want there to be a romantic element in Liar Game 2. I suppose it will depend on where they are going with the story. I imagine it'll be different from the Japanese versions; it'll go its own way, I think.

I'm in a k-drama dry spell, haha. The only show I'm really invested in is God of Noodle, though I do slog through Vampire Detective because I apparently enjoy torture. Probably gonna write a long, long comment at the end of the series with how I would have paced out the episodes and characterization.
Not really feeling the romance genre (not that I ever really do, but sometimes I'm more up for it). I just can't get into OHY which is sad because I really want to like it but something about the characters just doesn't work for it. Oh well.

I think Misaeng and Signal are kinda different than usual kdramas.
I also love food-themed dramas like Let's Eat and Let's Eat 2. Well, there's romance, but the focus was more on the food and neighboorhood. Both are feel good dramas and will make you crave for foods! (honest)
Healer is also kinda different than your usual romance and the leads are not chaebol/doctor/lawyer/overused professions in kdrama. I'd love to recommend King of Dramas for dramas behind dramas, it's crazily funny and presents how kdramas being produced and mocks it. Hahaha.
It's hard to find kdramas without usual formulas, but I think few dramas attempted that, some are successful and some are not. I do wish kdramas would have more variety and less chaebols!

I don't know about new theme (it is a romance, after all) but I did think Master's Sun with it's horror movie (a lot of it rather comedic) elements plus romance was different .

Not completely different but not mainstream. Flowers for My Life starring Cha Taehyun and Kang Hyejung. It's about death told in a witty, matter-of-fact way. I liked the humor and it's jut awesome overall.

I can just think of Joseon X-Files. It is like the title suggests, aliens and hanbok :p I don't think there is anything like it. It is a good mix of sci-fi, crime drama, supernatural and sageuk.
It is also really well done. If you are a fan of sci-fi or supernatural, I definitely recommend!

I haven't seen another show like Joseon X-Files.. While Misaeng marked 2015 for me, and Signal and Six Flying Dragons mark 2016, I don't think I've quite watched anything quite like Joseon X-Files sci-fi sageuk. Awesome, thought-provoking, beautiful to look at...makes me wanna go watch it again, right now, straight away!

I finally caught up with »Dear my friends«. The reason for watching is a rather shallow one. Drama was partly filmed in my country and that made me curious about it. While watching dramas I was always wondering how people feel when they watch a drama or a film that was shot in their neigbourhood or in a place they visit often. And now I got my chance thanks to »Dear my friends« that was filmed in my favourite places. Gotta admit - when the first scene of Wan and Yun-ha at the seaside came on, I became quite emotional. (Not to mention that this drama itself makes me cry. Those who watch will know.)
I'm curious, have you beanies also experienced things like that?

Yeah, I experienced that, when they filmed Misange in my country, i was so excited, i had my eyes wide open, i felt like watching those places for the first time, i never paid much attention to the places they filmed they were just a places, specially the downtown but it made me have more appreciation

I also experienced that. Not a kdrama actually, it's a movie in my country. The movie is mostly filmed in the city i currently live and the way they take the scene really reminds me how beautiful this city is. Meanwhile the movie got so very popular that people starts to make a city tour based on movie location haha ?

I fell in love with Seoul when I made my first visit to South Korea last April. For two weeks I wandered in joy through the city and parts of the countryside. I tool loads of photos of downtown Seoul and the fantastic architecture everywhere. I smile BIG-TIME when I see one of my favorite buildings or a familiar street. I can you this; The streets are NEVER that empty and it floors me they can film so much right in the main terminal at Incheon because it's always SO busy and full of people. By the way - a silly thing - I cried after going through customs and coming out into that main airport lobby. It's the real thing!!!

Happy Friday!
It's been a while since I've had time to stop by OT. In RL I started a new job a few months ago and no longer have Friday mornings free to hang out here. No time to blog or watch many dramas either so my poor blog has been virtually abandoned and it's going to take ages to catch up on my dramas. Even though new job is seriously affecting my ability to indulge my K-drama addiction, I'm excited to be finally practicing appellate law full time now. Supreme Court here I come! (Not likely but I can dream, lol.)
So the only thing I am watching is Another Oh Hae-young but I behind on this week's episodes. I am really liking it but a bit annoyed at our Hae-young. I'd like her to not be so needy about DK. Eric is his usual smexy self and I love the drunk sister. She's hilarious!

Re: Eric-- definite QSS flashbacks. It's crazy how he sets the small screen on fire (or is it just me!?). I'm glad the AOHY is good, but even if it weren't he's among the select few who I can watch no matter how bad the drama is. (For ex, I thought I could watch Gong Yoo in anything until that drama-that-shall-remain-nameless came around.) In Spy Myung-wol I didn't care what the heck happened or how bad the plot got, as long as Eric was on the screen I was a-ok.

Eric is one of the few k- actors who is overloaded with sexiness and masculinity at the same time and his acting is quite versatile (despite his idol bacground) is so intense and poignant that can draw anyone attention no matter how good or bad is a drama. He is rocking here because the drama is receiving good reviews from the majority of the audience. But for me he was always excellent even in a very bad production show like Spy MW he was superb in his role.

Feeling pulled in a lot of directions lately, but not one of them toward Kdramas. One daughter is now in Vienna for a month on a college course, another leaves this week for a two-month job in Japan, another is just finishing school and I am looking for a job. I just can't seem to connect to anything out right now, even though I sortof half-heartedly started Mirror of the Witch and liked it. There are just so many life interruptions going on.
So what are some recommendations for what to watch (doesn't have to be current) when life is chaotic?

Is anybody else as excited as I am to see Lee Kwang So in an American commercial? It's running on DramaFever. I'm probably late in observing this because DramaFever is my last place to go to watch dramas.
Also, is anybody else watching High-End Crush on DramaFever? If so, what's with the tapdancing clowns? When I watch on a site without commercials, they don't show up. I would think is a DF ad but the music is the shows theme song. It wouldn't be so bad but these are not sweet Bozo or Oopsy type clowns. These things look like Pennywise pee-your-pants clowns.

Have just marathoned High-End Crush in one day, not sure about the clown, maybe the embodiment of a dapper but clueless CEO Choi..?
Have to rave about the drama tho! Jung Il Woo is superb (tho reminds me a lot of his character in Flower Boy Ramyun Shop), his comedy is all about the spot-on expressions that just make you burst out laughing. Jin Se Yeon is not bad, but for me the real OTP is CEO Choi and Heo Bin :D
Lee Shi Un is awesome! I do wish he won't be typecasted as the forever loyal secretary all the time, but damn, he's so good in this kind of role.
I do wonder about the logic of wearing short pants with long coats tho *scratching head

About Punch, I also felt the same way that you do. I, too, marathoned the show and wondered why people find the drama so captivating. It felt really, really repetitive and after about halfway through I was constantly looking at the clock to ensure myself that time *is* ticking by.
After I successfully watched the whole drama, I do think that the drama felt like that to me because I marathoned it so everything just felt more or less the same.

Hmm... for me, Punch is repetitive in the way that chess or checkers us repetitive to the ordinary person's eye.
Even though they backstab and join hands over and over again, with each move, they win and lose something and are never truely back to where they were.
That was what was so captivating for me.

Ok, guys. I just finished Scarlet Heart (Cdrama). Wow. It was amazing. I'm very cuerious how they're going to do the Korean version. I can see now why they picked the Goryeo period, the story would be impossible in Joseon.
So, here's what I need to know now: 1. Is Scarlet Heart 2 worth watching? I'm okay with a silly plot as long as... 4th prince is still 4th prince, you know?
2. Imperial Doctress is already on my to-watch list. What other historical Cdramas or Taiwanese dramas should I watch?

Nirvana in Fire - not based on historical events but is an amazing story set in ancient times. Just give it at least 10 episodes. I wasn't hooked until about the 12th episode, but so very glad that I stuck with it. It's worth every praise people have been giving.

If you're into Cdrama, Too Late Too Say I Love You, Love Weaves Through A Millenium, Nirvana on Fire, Cruel Romance, Ballad of the Desert are recommended. 1) No, don't watch Scarlet Heart 2, it has no relation with the 1st one since it set in modern day and kinda messy, overall I prefer not to watch it, cause you not missing anything by not watching it.
2) My List
The Legend of Zhen Huan
About a lady in the harem that rise to the eyes in the emperor and the harem hierarchy,
ps: this also about yongzhen/4th prince but older one so if you watch BBJX/SC, it feels a bit weird to see yongzhen that diff from the one in BBJX
Nirvana in Fire
About putting things right, in the mid of power battle on Jinling's Kingdom, a man comes to put things right,
please trust me and watch at least 5 ep, you will like it
Prince of Lan Ling
about prince of lan ling who is a great warrior and beautiful face. Then a girl foresees the tragic fate of Lan Ling Wang, the general of Northern Qi, she nonetheless falls in love with him and helps him win the war against Yuwen Yong, the king of Northern Zhou. But destiny can not be altered.
(I still in love with yuwen yong anyway)
The Vigilantes in Masks (2011)
Iljimae, for me the better version
hope this helps

I'm so hoping that the k-version will be good. Though parts of the story might change/play out differently. Think we just need to keep in mind too that they are adapting the novel and the the c-drama.
Like other people have said Scarlet heart 2 is not worth it. Mostly because all the things that would have tied it together with the first one has been cut out (due to censorship and a ban on time travel themes in dramas and movies). The drama that was planed could have been good. The drama we got, not so much.
I liked Song of the Desert. I've also heard really good things about Niravana in fire and Legend of Zhen Huan. I'm enjoying Imperial Doctress so far too (on ep 25)

June 3, 2016 at 8:47 AM
Faith:
Yes it's banned (also why China doesn't have doctor who). I can't remember all of it, but a lot has to do with not messing with history. So basically a historical drama should stick to the established history. Time traveling means adding people and events, and potentially screwing with events, that didn't or did happen, thus altering, or messing with the understanding of the past. So a drama using historical events and people should stay true to the known history and life of said people and events.
Which is why for instance Song of the desert drama uses different names (and calls itself a wushin(?) drama rather than historical) than what is originally in the novel, because the novel suggests an alternative reality/endings to historically known people.

http://koalasplayground.com/2014/05/30/period-c-dramas-pushed-back-to-fall-as-sarft-orders-all-summer-dramas-to-be-about-the-chinese-dream/
... the agency wanted all networks to broadcast shows from July through October that further exemplify “The Chinese Dream”. Accompanying the SARFT announcement was a list of 127 suggested dramas that have all passed SARFT review and been deemed to fit this theme. There were no wuxia or period dramas are the the list, naturally since the very genre has nothing to do with the Chinese dream unless the modern Chinese dream involves fighting for the throne or learning kickass martial arts skill to defeat a villain.

Happy Friday! Weekend is nice and all, but I can't wait for Monday to come to see what is the deal on Do-kyung(Eric) in OHYA.
As to other dramas I enjoyed Entertainer. (Ji Sung! -I see currently there are four actors people refer with prefix 'God'(for their god-like acting) -GodJiSung, GodSinYang, GodMinSoo, GodJaeHyun)
anyway I read some comments that they watch 'Monster' to get Park Gi-woong fix. I found his interview done not long ago.[OSEN]
He went to do his army duty (Special police) on May of 2014 and finished last February. "I worked until one day before I reported for my army duty. When I came to my senses, I was in the training camp. I did it in Seoul, so it was less hard, still the camp was on the mountainside, and we had joint operation with other units and ran the mountain with equipment's on my back. I did 'Monster' right after the duty, and at first, sunbae-nim scolded me what was wrong with my way of talking. Park eagerly talked about his army story and said "Even though everyone has hard time in the army, this is only thing I can talk about since I just came back."
About him picking Monster, Park said, "Literally I started this project right after finishing my army duty. After a meeting, script reading, praying (for show's success) ceremony, it was first broadcast already. I was so busy that I even wondered 'Did I ever go to the army?' But the reason I started to do a project right away was that I felt I shouldn't show the longest vacant period during my over 10 years of acting. I think that is my duty as an actor. Also I wanted to work with this PD-nim and writer-nim for sometime. PD-nim called me. Frankly speaking, I have never gone on a trip for myself in my 20's. Fan meeting or shooting was the only trip I had. I was wondering if I should travel to a English speaking country for a month and start fresh. Then I got this offer and since it was something I wanted to do, I couldn't turn down. Well, no trip for me again."

One of the character signifying Park Gi-woong as an actor is Kimura of Gaksital. That time he'd been having hard time from his villain character roles in previous projects. "I think the evil character I've played is separated into before and after 'Gaksital'. In Chuno or Arrow, I was short-lived(screen time) evil character which I just had to play the role, but Kimura had his life described in the script. I had hard time (emotionally) because I could understand him. You know, he lost his love to his best friend. His real brother was beaten to death by closest friend. His best friend killed his father in front of his eyes. So I could understand his transformation and since I could understand him too well, playing him became very hard. But in Monster, even though Gun-woo works opposite of Gi-tan/Gang Ji-hwan, you can't say he is an evil. Rather I act thinking he is expansion version of Lee Hae-rang in 'Secretly greatly'. Even if I turn to be a villain later, I plan to relay the justification (as to why he became one) fully."
In the show, he is like Hong Gil-dong who can't call his father father. "I am weak on the family code, I remember the scenes like when he was running after being ignored by his father (ep 8), when he just stared his father and siblings in the elevator (ep 11) the most. Also I can't forget difficult (shooting-wise) scenes. We traveled far and did shoot with difficulties, but then again that became a chance to get closer to other actors. There are many people who love the character of (Jin) Ta-hyun (chairman Do's crazy son- Personally I am fan of him from 'White lies' and 'Queen Insoo' - excellent actor), so I imitate hyung, and shoot having fun. People call us 'Lunatic large, medium, and small' looking at our three siblings (Jin Te-hyun/Do Gwang-woo, Park Ji-woong/Do Gun-woo, Jo Bo-ah/Do Sin-young). I just wish/wait there are more scenes where three of us appear together. I think that will be fun."
In 2006, beginning of his career, He did millstone dance in a commercial which people still remember.lol

Q: Do you want to get rid of you still showing up on search word related to Millstone dance?
A: It was so long ago I wanted to eliminate it. (But people never fail to ask me to do one in a variety) It has been 14 years since I started acting. In the Daehakro (university road where there are many small playhouses), from the time I did cleaning instead of performing on the stage, I wanted to become an actor quick. I was an art student, so I think I was attracted to a character where I could show my acting. But as time goes by, I found that mindset is not important. (Acting is something) you don't get intimidated, but delicate work you make carefully.
Q: You look like a flower boy, but looking at how you talk, you feel like a real man.
A: There are more men than women around me. And I have more close hyungs since I love to do work-out. I believe I can do anything and I yell I do well. That is like promise to myself, that way I work hard.
Q: In the past MBC variety RADIO STAR, The Flower boy special (Jan 29, 2014) where you were in with Son Jo-joon(Reply 94), Baro(Reply 94), No Min-woo(My girlfriend is Gumiho), and Seo Gang-jun (CITT) made quite a stir.
A: Actually I didn't make any preparation before the show. I just went, but all other came with all prepared. Gan-jun even prepared to play Piano. I think that was New year's day special. I said I'd sing a TROT since it was holiday. I also did orang hutan act which I usually play. It must have had good response.
Q: What variety you think fits you the most.
A: I like cooking programs. I watch 'Taking care of fridge', 'Cooka daepyo'. Cooking talent? Since I've lived by myself for a long time, I can make a taste somewhat. I usually use scissors rather than a knife. I put many of this and that so food becomes edible. I can make all stew dish even though I can't make side dish well. And I am fan of 'Infinity challenge' which I never skipped watching.
Q: What is the watching point in Monster?
A: I hope people to keep watching. Since it is 50 eps, there are many actors and stories are complex and twisted, and it is still in the process of becoming firm.

(Women) audiences gave Park Gi-woong the most popular votes.(No min-woo didn't get any vote, heh -this man is seriously beautiful tho) Park Gi-woong(he grew up in Andong in KyungSang province - heh he could be my relative -same last name and same hometown) said on valentine's day he got so much cake (from girls), that valentine day was cake sharing day among relatives.
Seo Gang-jun was called 'Vitamin' because girls came to see him to get energy after a few hours of classes.
PGW said his private life was that of a priest. Q: what do you do on lonely night? PGW: I... just sleep.(No min-woo nodded)

Thank you for that Fan :))
I don't really know why I keep watching Monster (I get bored and fast forward through the elder's plotting parts) but I think it has to do with Park. I loved him as Shunji Kimura.
As far as Monster, I personally like it best when it's being a comedy and when the team of players are all on one side.

I watched that clip (thanks :) and the rest of them. I was cracking up.
Huh, Park Ki Woong actually can move his neck like that (when he does the re-enactment of the commercial dance).
My personal favorite is when he said his personal life was as pure (?) as a priest. Hur. Idk, that just sounds funny coming from a celebrity although it could be true in his case (heavy schedule and all).
@ Saner
I admit I fast forwarded through SKJ piano playing (poor kid) and here I thought I'd recovered from CITT -_-.

on other stuff:
1. On TVN's List 2016's latest 'Ajae fatale'(fatally attractive Ajussi) episode, Jung Woo-sung(Padam padam) was chosen as No 1,
Jo Jin-woong(Signal) was No 2, and Eric (OHYA) was No 3.
No 4 is Ha Jung-woo (actor)-thanks to his romantic side from the movie Assassination.
No 5 is Hwang Jung-min. He has very cheerful personality with good friendship with many actors/actresses.
No 6 is Eun Ji-won (Reply 1988). He who currently shows manly side was used to be called Eun ChoDing(Elementary school kid).
No 7 is Yoo Ji-tae (Healer) -Romantic guy for his actress wife.
No 8 is Jin Gu (DoTS). He is manly sexy and best husband doing all housework for his pregnant wife.
me like- huh? Eric is Ajussi?
2. On-line research company did a survey on the drama started strong and ended with a whimper:
The results(from 14800 participants): No 1 was Cheese in the trap(21.4%), No 2 was YongPal, No 3 was DoTS.
Other dramas mentioned included 'The time we were in love', 'Once more happy ending', 'Who are you', 'Mask prosecutor', 'Gakju' etc.
I am surprised it also had Master of Noodle which didn't even finish. I guess there were too high of expectation after DotS.
3.And King of mask singer: It says among MBC video clip posted on Naver TVcast, Music Captain's 'Lazenca, Save Us' got the most views (close to 4 Million). This is the song which made him the king first time.

Re: Eric--ajusshi?
I guess he would be considered an ajusshi b/c he's nearing 40. I was thinking about this in reference to myself just yesterday. I'm around Eric's age (and I'm married & have children) so I'd be considered an ajumma. But I sooo don't feel like an ajumma & I don't see people my age (women & men) such as Eric as ajusshis and ajummas either, but technically I we are. Now I finally understand what my parents used to say when I called them old.
Either way, Eric is stil hot so I guess that's all that matters.

Happy friday guys!
Today was the wrong day to be cycling to work. There was snow, hail, rain and a tiny glimmer of sunlight. All withing the span of the 25 min it takes me to get to work on my bike. Thank god for the speed dryers we have at work... (home had intense rain, but no snow or hail)
Still in re-watch land as far as dramas goes. This time rewatching My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. I had forgotten how cute it was. And how much I liked this drama.
Kdrama Toddlers style (storytime)
There once was a girl, so cute and smiley. But behind the smile was a loneliness as she was cut off from the kids around her due to a hearing problem. She was always alone, even as the grown ups thought her and the others how to communicate.
Then one day, a blond haired boy arrived. A bit of a troublemaker, always stealing toys and pushing the others. wanting to rule and get his will.
The boy pushed the girl, she pushed him back. And speechless it rendered him. Since that day they were inseparable. Always holding hands, talking and communicating with words both spoken and silent.
He rides the bike with her on the back. She runs to hug him whenever she can. She makes him nicer, and he makes her happier. Always together
(sorry, couldn't resist telling this more as a fairy tale than just a retelling of events)

AHha I really did feel like I had a cloud o misfortune over me today. Especially since I also dropped all the cups (thank god they're of plastic) when I was getting them ready for breakfast for the kids. And burned my had on the pizza we made. And twisted my ankle. Hey guys, this is my first time posting on Open Thread so I'm not really sure what to say hehe.
Finally completed Remember - Son's War after putting it on hiatus for a month (life just got in the way). Namgoong Min played villains so well I kinda get disappointed when I watch other dramas and the villains aren't as scary as how Namgoong Min does it lol. Perhaps I should give Beautiful Gong Shim a try since the general consensus is that it's a nice show.
I'm still lagging behind on Mirror of the Witch and Lucky Romance; I love the former but it's too creepy for me to watch when I get back (I'm staying alone in my room and by the time I reach home it's already late lol) but I'll try to make some time for it. As for Lucky Romance, I can't comment much except that it feels like a standard rom-com but I hope it will pick up along the way.
I just came back from watching Agasshi in theatres and my only comment is that it's kinda probably too...visual for my liking haha well I guess it wasn't my type of movie. But it was rather good (although I was disappointed that one major part from the original novel wasn't incorporated into the movie) Which other Park Chan Wook's movies would you guys recommend?
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Another Oh Hae-Young is my first kdrama in real time and it is really hard to wait for Mondays! The characters, story and acting are terrific. Not to mention Eric really knows how to wear a cardigan.
Also watching Beautiful Gong Shim mainly for Nam Goong Min. His facial expressions and physical comedy are top notch. To fill in my Kdrama time between these shows, I have been watching Lucky Romance 3. Didn't realize NGM was also in this drama and it's interesting to see how different his character is.
I've been watching kdramas for about 3 months and am totally and happily hooked. Dramabeans really adds to my addiction and I so enjoy reading all the posts. Thanks!

Beautiful Gong-shim - What a delight so far! I've only watched the first 2 episodes and I really like it. The quirky main characters as played by Namgoong Min and Minah are oh so interesting!
Master God of Noodle - It is quite good still! ....... Some of the characters' decisions are often questionable, but that's ok. ...... And she found the room! Uh oh.
Entertainer - Oh my gosh, the tiger outfit! .... *laughing*
Marriage Contract - Seeing Lee Seo-jin in every single episode is such a treat.
That's all for now. ....... Everyone take care and have a great Friday!

Hello fellow beanies!
I'm glad Friday is here but for me I still have one more work day.
I was slightly disappointed that Ha-neul didn't get rejected in Entertainer because I really just wanted that part of the story over, you know? It was hilarious when he was giving Geu-rin those hypothetical scenarios and she was just not getting it! She is utterly clueless.
I was searching for Mrs. Cop 2 because you know Kim Bum and I finally found it! I tried the first Mrs. Cop and it wasn't my cup of tea but i am enjoying Mrs. Cop 2 if only for Kim Bum. He is really doing his thing as a villain and I need him to do a couple of more roles just like this. He is pretty fantastic!
Is anyone else else not wowed by Lucky Romance? I tried the first episode but it seems really generic. I was actually going to watch that instead of Beautiful Gong Shim and I am glad I dropped LR for BGS because it is so awesome! The plot is typical but the characters are what keeps me coming back. With the exception of Gong Mi of course.

I was on loose end mid of this week, and on one restless night I stumbled upon Jung Il Woo's "High-end Crush". I marathon-ed it in a night, and my restlessness went away. JIW cured my restlessness with all his antics.
It was silly, yet entertaining and addictive. I guess JIW should stick to such genre where he played best. Although he used to be so good as Il Ji Mae. I missed him and his mane of glory.. *sigh*

After five days we'll have the month of Ramadhan, and this time I promised myself that I'll pause my K-drama addiction! I'll miss commenting and posting my thoughts on dramas I'm watching, some of them will end before I'm back but I'll catch up later ;)
So dramas I'll pause:

Happy Friday, Beanies! Here's what I'm watching.
Oh Hae-Young Again -- As I've stated previously, this show is my crack. I cannot wait to come home on Monday and Tuesday nights because I can run and watch the next episode. Agh. And that second kiss we got, holy ravioli! I love our Hae-young to pieces, and of course, Eric's dreamy eyes.
Entertainer -- I like it a lot more now that we're nearing the end. I'm okay now with Geu-rin and Suk-ho potentially getting together, although I still think the age gap is weird. Hyeri is okay but she really hasn't wowed me. Ji Sung, of course, is stellar. But Minhyuk and the other band members are really the stars of the show. It's not a great drama, but it's entertaining enough.
Lucky Romance -- Only checked it out because of Hwang Jung-eum, but now I'm sticking with it because of Ryu Jun-yeol. (His deadpan humor is so funny! And the faces he makes...!) Even Lee Soo-hyuk is cute. I like all the actors and I'm enjoying the story so far. There's nothing new with the plot or anything, but I'm liking it. And I don't think it's moving too slowly, I think the pace is just fine.
Beautiful Gong Shim -- My second crack. This drama is so weird and wacky but I love it so much! I laugh so much at Dan-tae and Gong Shim! They're really terrific together. Namgoong Min is winning me over more and more with every episode, and Minah even really surprised me! Love love love this show.
Now I just need to find an old show to marathon on Fridays so I can watch a drama every day of the week, ha! Any suggestions? I'm thinking of watching Page Turner since that's short, but what else..... THERE ARE TOO MANY DRAMAS TO WATCH.

Hi! Hope you're all enjoying nice warm summer weather if you're in that part of the world :) My house currently feels like a baking oven at times, it's getting so hot here!
I finished a couple of webdramas this week:
Choco Bank - Meh. Honestly, I have no idea what it was about and the fact that Kai was the best actor here is kinda sad lol. Maybe if I was an EXO fan I wouldn't care?
Speaking of which, I've been watching lots of random youtube vids lately and stumbled upon one where some Norwegians are introduced to Kpop. They were asked to pick their favorite EXO member after watching one of their MVs and their picks were really unusual. The girls found the guys I would find attractive attractive, rather than the ones South Koreans and a lot of other international fans (mostly North Americans I think?) usually are drawn to. Beauty is really such a cultural thing. A lot of the time I don't get why a certain member is the visual of a Kpop group or why, say, Lee Min Ho is considered attractive, but now it makes more sense. I think us Scandinavians just have a completely different aesthetic. And now I probably sound extremely shallow ha, but things like cultural differences fascinate me and beauty standards is one of the things that's often most talked about and noticeable when it comes to cultural tendencies. Anyways, moving on!
Bong Soon - a Cyborg in Love - This was really cute. I've seen many comments on the unoriginality of the story, but since I haven't seen any others like this, it didn't bother me. Sure, the plot didn't really make sense 90% of the time, but Kyuhyun's character was pretty moving and it was a fun way to spend a couple of hours. I don't know whether he's considered a good actor or not, but I really liked KH's acting. Which probably should be expected, considering his years of musical theater. Or do South Korean theaters not tend to care whether the idols are good actors or not and just hire them anyway?
Still watching Entertainer, though I haven't finished ep 13 yet. It's hit or miss for me with this one. The episodes are either awesome or completely boring *sigh*
Also sticking with Lucky Romance for now. Didn't plan on watching and not at all on continuing after trying out the first ep, but RJY is way too addictive. The premise of a shaman telling a woman to sleep with some guy to save her comatose sister is really grating though. Not only is poor Soo Ho being used, but Bo Nui kind of is too, by this quack whom I honestly think needs to lay off the mushrooms, cause wading into your new company at night, in a weird outfit, to put salt and talismans everywhere, probably isn't the best advice for a succesful career. CCTV anyone?
d.o.b - really liking the dance group vs band setup. It adds something new to a worn out concept. Plus, Seunghyun's dancing in the newest episode was priceless *tears of laughter* It's a good thing he became a guitarist instead...

All FT Islandmembers, excluding Jonghun, have done musicals, but except for Seunghyun they all debuted on TV first. Key has done lots of musicals, but he hasn't been on screen yet, except for a brief appearance in Salamandar Guru. Changmin (2AM) has done lots of musicals, but no TV debut and Jo Kwon debuted on TV before doing musicals.
Onew started acting in musicals before he had his drama debut though. And so did Woohyun, but he hasn't really done much of either type of acting.
The whole idol-crossing-over-from-musical-acting-to-on-screen-acting seems not to happen a lot. Mostly it seems to be the other way around or they just stick to either or. Maybe because musical acting requires more/different skills and doesn't get you the same amount of exposure a drama does?

Choco Bank was meh. I like EXO and follow their activities so that's the only reason I watched it. I also watched EXO Next Door and even Falling for Challenge. EXO Next Door was funny but so corny. Falling for Challenge, Xiumin's drama, really didn't work for me.
I might watch Bong Soon - A Cyborg in Love purely because of Kyuhyun. Glad to hear you at least liked his acting! Also glad to hear from @mk that South Korean musical theater actors tend to be pretty good. (Wasn't/isn't Ji Chang-wook a musical theater actor? <3)

I'm not an EXO fan, or even a Kpop fan (except for the less pop-y stuff), but I love webdramas and I find it fascinating how much Kpop and Kdramas intertwine, so have seen all three you mentioned ha! I now know all EXO members' names, even if I still can't tell them all apart. Who knows, maybe one day that information will come in handy? Like someone will tell me to name them all or I'll never be allowed to watched another kdrama? (Ok this is getting silly and random. I blame the heat).
I completely agree, Falling for Challenge didn't work for me either. It's not that it was bad. It was just... not really anything? Xiumin's acting was even pretty decent, but the plot and cinematography was too random.
And yes EXO Next Door was so cheesy, but still kind of fun, despite the acting being somewhat lacking (D.O. excluded, of course). They all seemed like sweet little kids though lol, which seems to be common for all idols these days. I wonder how many idols have bad personalities irl?
Kyuhyun is hit or miss for me, sometimes I love him on TV other times he bores me. But he really did so well here and it was a really nice watch :)
A lot of actors start in theater and they tend to be really good as you can't exactly make mistakes on stage and everything will be fine, you'll just do another take. But idols turning to musical theater might have been a different story, glad it seems it's not :)

Hmm, this whole max characters thing for posts isn't really working. It cut off my original comment even though it shouldn't have.
The last sentence was supposed to say:
"It's a good thing he became a guitarist instead of joining SM way back when!"
The way it cut it off makes it seem like it's some guy from the trainee dance team having been moved to the trainee band *headdesk* Oh the difference a few little words can make! :P

Since you're talking about web dramas featuring idols, I wanted to just take a moment to ask if anyone has seen The Secret Message with T.O.P and Japanese actress Ueno Juri? I think DB had an article about it when it was first announced, but have never seen any one talk about here. I'm not really involved in KPOP at all or a BigBang fan, so I was surprised by how much I liked it. Thought it was a hidden gem among DF's library.
Re: Beauty Standards
I still don't really understand exactly what a "flower boy" is. I'd imagine that the closest Western equivalent would be the appeal of bands like One Direction? It's seems as if men in SK, or at least idols, are allowed to be more androgynous than what Westerners would consider attractive. For instance, I don't think a male singer could come out in the U.S. with eyeshadow and pastel hair (besides maybe Bowie or Prince back in the day) and be considered the top proponents of male sexuality. It's interesting to think about.

Secret Message is definitely on my list of webdramas to watch! :) It's moved to the top now, thanks for the recommendation.
I find the flower boy term confusing as well. It seems to sometimes be applied a bit loosely. But I think in general it applies to guys who look more boy-ish than "man-ly" and more pretty than handsome, if that makes sense. But it does get confusing as everyone from Lee Hyun Woo to Ji Soo to D.O. to Kim Soo Hyun to Choi Min Hwan have been labeled flower boys despite the huge difference between all of those celebs' facial features, clothing style, personality, body type etc.
And yes, despite the less than favorable attitude toward gender identification and sexualities outside the "norm", South Korean idols seem to be encouraged to be more more androgynous even to the point of what kind of PS they get (the jaw-shaving for example. Westerners tend to like strong jaws as they're seen as man-ly, while South Koreans favor small faces). Ha, the only singer that popped into my mind when you mentioned eyeshadow is Adam Lambert lol! And while he's definitely embracing, ehhh, let's say, sensuality lol, he probably doesn't fit what you were thinking ;) There are a few exceptions though, like A) Johnny Depp (dude wears a lot of eyemakeup, though no pastel hair) and B) some rock/punk/metal/emo musicians (but again, no pastel hair). I'll never get what's so "feminine" about makeup. Lots of cultures have had trends of men wearing makeup, as far back as ancient Egypt. I do think there's a difference between what, often female, Kpop fans see as attractive and what non-famous South Korean guys would consider manly. They might find the eyeshadow and pastel hair as bad as many Western guys do.

I'm so glad you (all) just recommended Secret Message! I adore TOP and I just saw the show pop up on DF. Maybe it was added recently? I think I'm foremost a fan of him as an instagrammer, then acting, then musician.
Regarding flower boy, I really thought that it was a very loosley applied term, and is certainly used much more than on idols. I think it would be like calling someone a "pretty boy" without the sneery connotations; just indicating this guy is in the flower of his youth, he will never look better or be more youthful or be more ambitious or athletic or all those fluffy concepts all together... So of course a lot of famous boys are flower boys, but also just any old guy could be a flower boy to his grandma, or his neighborhood or whatever.

THE SECRET MESSAGE!! It is by far my favourite webdrama to date. I am not big on kpop and I only knew who T.O.P was because my friend loves him (well mostly loves his look and voice lol ) but I was so surprised by his performance.
And it is so true, the drama is such a little gem. I love the cinematography and how the story is told. So simple but so very effective and memorable. I am happy to hear that others have loved it too :D

YES! I should have said cinematography + mise-en-scène. I sometime lump them together and the film student in me gets peeved :P The two together created images that are still stuck in my head even months after I've seen them.
The warning for Rei is true. Also, the webdrama does have a somewhat slow pace (not to confound with draggy, maybe a better term would be quiet). But it really grabs you.
Hopefully I did not raise your expectations too high and that you won't be disappointed if you check it out :)

Don't worry, I've seen enough of webdramas to know not to expect a L'Année Dernière à Marienbad level of cinematography ;)
Even the best webdramas I've seen were lacking in some ways, it's a tough format (We Broke Up (LOVED it. Even before I knew who Kang Seungyoon was) and Romance Blue (really disappointing, but had SO much potential)).

I think webdramas in general tend to be overlooked among international fans. A bit surprised at Secret Message being unknown though, it is T.O.P after all. I mean, they have some of the most viewed music videos and even some of their v-app broadcasts have millions of views (not an easy feat).

It's also the first drama I've ever seen to somewhat address alcoholism (albeit, veeerrryyy subtly).
And Ueno Juri is just lovely.

As Scandinavian myself and danish. I believe beauty is overrated entirely and when I say this I mean as entirely since there is different sort of beauty.
Example You mentioned someone like Lee Min Ho as reference in your comment so lets use him as an example here. Imo Lee Min Ho is more then beauty and if I had to rank his looks I would say his a guy who is little above the average looking guy but what makes him who he is in generally is charismatic way of being and his smile, what he do while being tease etc etc and just being around him and if you watch some of his dramas you will fall into him and thats what most do generally. I think it's his playfulness, smiles, and emotions that is way more catching then anything I have seen. His really magnificently captivating individual while I consider guys like Jo In Sung, Won Bin, Hyun Bin, Go Soo, and many more better looking then him but still not even close to him in the charismatic department. When he gets loose and starts to be playful and all smiley then you are taken right there. It's honestly amazing

Oh! I've never seen a fellow Kdrama-watching Dane before, hej! :)
I'm with you entirely on beauty being overrated - for me a guy being attractive is about personality and charisma as well. My talking about beauty standards honestly does come from a deep interest in cultural matters and aesthetics.
It's funny, because I actually don't find LMH all that charismatic. Yes, he carried BOF, but imo that was such a horrible drama that it's not a hard thing to do and I have yet to any geniune interest in any of the characters I've seen him portray. Also, the guys you mentioned as handsome are ones that I consider ordinary handsome, not handsome-handsome. Maybe there aren't really any Danish beauty standards? I mean, there will always be personal preferences no matter the cultural tendencies on the subject, but I think a lot of people I know would agree with us both in that attractiveness is based on charisma. I can't really think of a single couple I know where looks were what made them start dating. When it comes to short term flings, sure, but not where longterm relationships are concerned.

Hej. Det smukt ved det hele er smag og behag.
I thought he was charming in BOF despite the hair and everything and also in City Hunter and Personal taste while in Faith he was just trying to be good looking and strict soldier. I actully fall deep in love with him from after watching Boys over flowers and in the beginning I really didn't get all the hype because it was popin up in my feedback all the time and always ran into it. But the posters of his hair turned me down in the beginning and said to myself you know what F' it and just start watching. In the beginning he was the thing I hated most in this life and as the drama kept going and he kept getting rejected and all of sudden he became more and more charismatic to the point I started following him around. He became addiction.

His hair was actually the only thing I liked about his appearance in BOF lol! But I know what you mean, lots of other actors like, for instance, RJY, I will be like "nah, don't get it" when just seeing photos, but once I see them on screen I aboslutely understand ;) Mangler stadig at se City Hunter, har ikke kunnet komme forbi den første scene i første afsnit hvor hun skal føde.
kaybee
June 3, 2016 at 9:43 AM
HCA, JJH + LMH.
Kalun
June 3, 2016 at 10:02 AM

Hi mary, thanks for the reminder! :) I just realized after my last comment that I was writing in Danish in an English site *headdesk* Too many languages in your head at once can get seriously confusing. Sometimes you'll switch languages without even noticing lol.
The conversation was basically about the fact that the new LMH drama is an adaptation of HC Andersen's (Danish author) "The Little Mermaid". I commented that China must be going crazy with anticipation since they love LMH, JJH and HC Andersen. Sooo many tourists from China actually visit The Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen every year. According to Kalun there are already rumours about them buying the new LMH drama for $500K per episode (!).
I'm a bit worried, since I think HCA adaptations tend to veer completely off course and be nothing like the original fairy tale (Frozen being a fairly recent case in point) and Kalun mentioned worrying about the cinematography since it takes a lot to make a world like the one "Legend of the Blue Sea" is gonna require realistic.
Whew, think that's pretty much it :) Again, so sorry! I hope this made the conversation make sense and made you able to join in if you so wish. I will focus more when writing from now on, so that I'll keep to English instead of random languages only some people will understand ;)

Hallo Kaybee, thanks for translating ^^
Wah, I didn't know Chinese tourists love Little Mermaid that much. :o
Is it going to be a full adaptation though? I haven't watched a kdrama with 100% fantasy setting yet. Maybe MoTW is close. Or Surplus Princess? But mostly when they say Little Mermaid, I'm preparing for a sad heroine in a normal modern setting threatening to be a noble idiot.
Wow, writing this made me realize how many mermaid shows we have locally. They have sets where everyone is nekkid waist up with just long hair covering the "seashells". Yet for some reason I never expected the same from kdramas. I wonder why....
kaybee
June 3, 2016 at 11:39 AM
Yeah, we get so many Chinese and Japanese tourists. For some reason they have a fascination with parts of our culture like the castles, HCA and smørrebrød (a really common Danish dish. It's a common joke that smørrebrød is to the Japanese what sushi is to us. It's an everyday dish in its own country, but something exotic and rare when placed somewhere else lol)
Hmmm, good question actually. It probably won't be a full adaptation. The mountain of cash it'd take to make that happen might just rival Mont Blanc.
I think the only mermaid show I've ever come across is the Australian Disney one, H2O or whatever it's called lol.

I think cultural standards of beauty are interesting too.
Especially where they overlap and where they diverge from one culture to another.
As a Korean-American who grew up in the US since the age of 4 (which would make me 1.5 gen. Haha), I really don't get why small faces are good. I believe my first reaction was, "wouldn't that just make you a pinhead? O.o" I think it has something to do with them (us?) liking more delicate features?
Growing up, it was confusing when I'd go to Korean American church and people would say I was good-looking except for my naturally curly hair and why didn't my mom have it chemically straightened out? Then I went to school (no other Asians) and people voted me #1 for best hair. Thats when you realize there's no objective standard for beauty.

Relative Symmetry seems to be the only objective standard for beauty. It seems like in many cultures it's also desirable for men to be tall.
Anyway, I still do not understand the small head thing. I like it when guys have bigger heads. It's looks really strange to me when someone's head is almost the same diameter as their neck. I'm glad for the diversity of beauty standards though, so long as we're not all pineing for the same person.
kaybee
June 3, 2016 at 12:25 PM
Wow, that must have been confusing. But maybe healthy for self-esteem in that you realize that what's not pretty to one person will be beautiful to another?
I used to be a bit selfcouncious about my tiny face, but then I saw JJY on Happy Together or something like that and they were praising his small face! *gasp!* I was so excited to see that something I didn't feel good about was valued somewhere else :) The same with my big eyes, as here they're mostly an inconvenience (as they're often connected with innocence and annoyingly so, with stupidity), yet in SK they even get surgery to make their eyes bigger. It was so nice to see other people want what you dislike about yourself, as stupid as it sounds.
I think you're right about the delicate features, yet on the other hand they tend to like long noses? (The one thing a lot of people here will get PS to "fix")
It's funny you bring up the curly hair, cause that is one thing I will just never get. I LOVE curls. I simply will never understand how a Kdrama heroine is ugly just because they gave her freckles and curly hair.

June 3, 2016 at 12:32 PM
@JesO - I will just go hide my freakishly small head in the sand then. Or is it fine, since I'm not a guy?
Please don't feel it's okay to say something negative about looking a certain way, just because some people/cultures/trends find that feature beautiful. It still hurts. For instance, a lot of people have no problem making fun of you for being skinny and making negative comments, judging you, since it seems to be a desired body feature in many countries, but as someone who's experienced that ridicule and the prejudices people have firsthand, I have to say it still hurts like crazy and it makes you really insecure.
I actually used to think my headsize looked strange too, but fortunately I love it now :) No one should think they look strange.
kaybee
June 3, 2016 at 12:51 PM
@JesO - Also, I know you probably didn't mean anything by your comment, it just kind of hit where it hurts, since it's exactly what I used to think about myself and something that made me insecure.
So I just thought I'd mention the whole "negative comments on appearences always hurt, no matter if it's a commonly liked one or disliked one", since most people don't realize it.
Sancheezy
June 3, 2016 at 12:53 PM
@jesO
I think the small head mean that your feature is striking, the smaller your head is, the most your feature will resemble your face rather than the wideness of your skin,
IMO it's like having a defined jaw line, well-defined nose and not so much fat in the face,
smaller head makes shoulder looked broader than people with bigger head,
basically, make your proportion better since people with bigger head have it harder to build the right proportion if they didn't have the big build,
just in mind that Asian generally shorter and small build, so the small head size fit better than trying so hard make your shoulder broad,
so I think their preference on a small head is actually the preference on a proportion too, they just used one body part to count
kaybee
June 4, 2016 at 3:33 AM
@Sancheezy - Wow, the observation about it possibly being about proportions rather than actual headsize is pretty neat! Your possible explanation would definitely make their fascination with headsize make sense :)

My first comment in Open Thread
I just finished watching OHY episode 9-10 today, so I was late at the comment party in the recap. I was surprised to see that OHY recap has more than 200-400 comments, it's too much for me to read them all but I'll try it because that's how much I love to read beanies insightful opinions for the show.
I am watching Liar Game too because I need to distract myself from the urge to re-watch OHY former episodes again and again.
I had watched Liar Game until episode 10 and so far this drama is good.
Ha Woo Jin's skill as the human lie detector in the first 2 episodes reminds me of Sherlock Holmes played by Benedict Cumberbatch. I know they are different, but I could't stop myself to compare both of them XD
I am still annoyed by Nam Da Jung character and I found myself rooting for other character instead (especially Jamie), am I weird?
That's all for now
Happy Friday, beanies :)

Beautiful Gong Shim – I adore this show. Namgung Min and Minah are rockin’ it big time! On Joo Won isn’t half bad, either. It is so NORMAL. Like real life. Well, kdrama real life. I love that Gong Shim doesn’t take crap and tells Dan Te, “You sound like a leader of a cult” when he rambles. They take care of each other in such an off-handed way and Gong Shim reacts to him “like a little sister who doesn’t listen.” Norrrmall. Then there’s the most unaffected rich guy, Joon Soo and gosh darn if I can’t choose between the lead and the second lead (although Joon Soo is more dream boyfriend material and definitely second lead syndrome worthy). How lucky is Gong Shim that both protect her although she does deserve it even if she doesn’t think so herself. Oh yeah, but um, Dan Te and Joon Soo are both allergic to eggs, you know, because that’s right, there is the kdrama twist after all – you should watch it!
Witch in the Mirror – This fantasy sageuk is hard to follow but the style of getting to the backstories works better the more you watch it. Heo Jun’s lot in life is pretty crummy (not to mention his mother’s especially and Man Wol’s). But there is so much going on and I’m not feeling Heo Jun and Seo Ri’s connection (I don’t mean romantically, but in terms of how their stories will mesh). Poor Yo Gwang is a little underappreciated. The underworld tug between the shamaness and Seo Ri is pretty cool and I thought older brother Poong Yeon’s convo with the bad lady was gutsy. 6 more episodes, I wonder - can they make a good ending of it?
Master: God of Noodles - This is the best kdrama I’ve seen in a while! I thought I was caught up but realized I’d missed ep 10 last week so I marathoned 10, 11, and 12 until 3 AM this morning. It was like watching an amazingly written movie with superb acting and I covered my eyes and peeked between my fingers at the awful depths of depravity of our resident sociopath, Mr. Ha. I love how the story has brought together the four orphans under one roof again, so to speak, although it is a bit curious to me that Yeo Kyung can’t put two and two together to realize that Tae Ha would have a bigger reason to be working as Mr Ha’s assistant. (I am really happy to see Jung Yoo Mi as co-lead actress) I love Tae Ha and Da Hee’s attraction to each other. And I love the Restaurant of Doubt and Mistrust where everyone is connected like noodles tied together under the table and no one can suck in a mouthful without yanking on everyone else’s portion, too.
Another Miss Oh, Vampire Detective, Lucky Romance and my kdrama week is full!
Have a great weekend (I am, hanging out at 10,560 feet above sea level in the mountains). \/

Happy Friday everyone. This is my first time posting on this thread.
What I've been using to feed my kdrama addiction.
OHYA - like everyone else this is my crack and as I work from home, I can watch it when it first airs without subs. That way I can at least guess what they are saying. Also it helps to just look at their faces and acting as sometimes the subs get in the way as I'm too busy reading. Usually I watch each episode around 3 times (pathetic isn't it?) But I love everything about this show. The acting, writing, cinematography, lighting - and oh the chemistry - those kisses!!!
What I've noticed is about halfway through most kdramas the main couple finally gets it together and decide to "go to the end" and then the true angst and struggles come at them. Now that Our Oh Hay Young and Do-Kyung have come together, everything will happen to pull them apart. The two exes, evil mom and her parents will all work to destroy them. I'm prepared now for more pain. Sigh - as long as we get more of Eric's hot kisses - please!!!
Master God of Noodles - this is very intense, very dark but excellent. When it first came out I remembered that I liked Chun Jung-myung in Cinderella's Sister, and so I watched him in Heart to Heart and LOVED that show. He is so absolutely adorable - completely opposite than MGON. However in the latest episode he is smiling a little more. Overall I recommend this show for just about everything. I just wish it was being recapped here. Then maybe some things would make more sense to me. Anyway - I highly recommend this.
Dear My Friends - love love LOVE this show! Especially when it is about older beautiful women. But you really have to hang in for at least 3 episodes. The relationships are unfolding as we learn about these strong women. Interesting how they are weaving in social commentary on abuse of all kinds.
Remember - It is over but also an excellent show. I was sorry it didn't get more viewership. What surprises me is how many kdramas deal with Alzheimers and I don't think I've seen one American drama with that as a subject. Then again, I've stopped watching anything but kdramas. They got me through the past year which was very hard.
Mirror Of The Witch - dark and mysterious and beautiful.
Lucky Romance - I'm still watching and holding out to decide how much I like it. There is enough funny moments to keep me watching.
Thanks to Dramabeans for helping me understand some things that I otherwise miss not knowing Korean.

Re alzheimer's in media: From about 2012 or so, there's an American trend in literature of writing about characters with Alzheimer's. And I've seen a couple of characters get it in TV shows as well, though never as the main subject, but I think that's more to do with the difference in formats.
And I agree, lots of kdrama deal with it, even MVs! Actually just finished a drama where a character has early on-set dementia. (Pretty sure Alzheimer's and dementia is not the exact same thing, but it seems that dramaland thinks it is as they called it both)

Actually Alzheimers is one form of dementia. You can have dementia from various reasons and they have different names. But Alzheimers and dementia are the one and the same.
Memory was the most realistic portrayal of a person with Early Onset Alzheimers and it was painful to watch. But the show handled it very well.
Both my parents had dementia when they passed, but it never got so bad they didn't know me. Still now i work with people with dementia so I'm especially tuned into that topic.
Kudos to kdrama-land for tackling that issue.
I've read many books about it, but not too many on US TV.

I think he/she meant that Alzheimers is a type of dementia so that saying someone suffering from Alzheimers has dementia is not incorrect. It simply isn't specific because, like you pointed out, they are many different type of dementia, Parkinsons and Alzheimers being two of the most common.
My grandfather has dementia but he has Lewy Body Dementia, which is similar to both Alzheimers and Parkinsons.
Dementia, in all its forms, is a cruel disease. My heart goes out to everyone who either suffers from it or whose loved one has it. Hopefully someday there will be a cure

Wang Kai and Jin dong make me miss Hu Ge,
it's gonna be fun if he came as cameo, it's a nice but less likely to happen,

Hi Beanies,
OHYA continues to reign supreme in the current dramas I'm watching. I've had trouble with my other dramas this week though.
Beautiful Gong Shim: I was really enjoying our weirdo couple, but haven't been able to make myself watch episode 6. I really, really don't like an abundance of pettiness in my male leads, and Ahn Da Tae ruining GS's dates and pretending to be injured seemed too much, and too possessive. She doesn't even like you yet! The extra drama with the familial relations continues to weigh the show down as well.
Lucky Romance: This one is weird. There's moments where the cinematography and music come together and my heart stops for just a second, but what is supposed to be an emotional moment falls flat because I'm just not that invested in the characters yet. The "tragic" back stories of the main characters aren't Incorporated with the rest of the episode well, and it just makes the show really weird tonally.
Dear My Friends: This is a good show. I recognize that this is a really well done show. But I think it's just a little too cripplingly sad for me right now, so it's really hard for me to be motivated to watch the next episodes. I'll have to try watching it again when I'm in a different mood.
I'm still searching for a C-drama or T-drama to win my heart. Something weird I've noticed: the dialogue of the characters often seems like it's being "dubbed" in these. I know that dramas will sometimes hire international actors and dubbed their lines because they cannot speak the language well. But when ALL the dialogue seems this way it just seems weird. Is this a sign of bad sound design? Or does Viki just have an audio lag on my phone? It's really distracting when the characters lines don't look like they're coming out of their lips.

for the dub, they indeed dubbed it for a lot of drama, not just the one that includes foreign actor/actresses
TL;DR they did it to make the language used is standard Mandarin. It's not just about the foreign actor/actresses but they sometimes hire actors/actresses that have all the different dialect/tonal variations and they didn't speak the standard mandarin.
**
China is a large country with many dialects and even people in the same city will have very different tonal/dialect variations of speech. Re-dub is a very complex / expensive process. It is because of background noise and clarity reasons. Cheaper productions will cut corners & quality.
Voices are dubbed in sound enclosed rooms using voice actors/actresses w/ very clear, precise, & standard Mandarin. So, as to provide the largest audience. Also, subtitles are almost always included so that certain Chinese regions will understand the true meaning behind the speech.
that also why you will notice different actors in different productions having the exact same voices.

Happy friday!
Only 3 more weeks of work until my summer vacation!
Also I'm too tired to cook so I'm eating mozzarella sticks and tomatoes. And I was supposed to loose weight, sigh. Well my excuse is I take poledancing classes which is super fun so I work out at least.
Watched Kamogawa shokudo, it's really charming and watching it makes me miss Kyoto sooo bad. I really want to live there again.
And the dorama has food! Kyoto cooking makes me sad that I can't have it. sigh
Still watching the amazing kiseki no hito which is being subbed as well so I highly recommend it.

I heard about this drama,
is it has similar vibe with Shinya shokudo?

Yes, Kutsuna Shiori and some other familiar faces.
It has a similar feeling as Shinya shokudo and another food dorama (can't remember the name)
It's very slice of life dorama that I wish they'd make more often.

This is a very personal comment:
less than a half way of the first episode of Kamogawa Shokudo, I gave up the drama. I could not stand the girl's fake accent which is quite off ! She should at least master the Kyoto accent if she were professional. Because the location is in Kyoto, her accent in this particular drama is so crucial.
By the way, I live in Kyoto and I must admit that Kyotonians are snob who often look down on other Japanese from other areas. I laugh with their subtle superiority complex. Kyoto people are disliked by people around the area( because of their attitude towards, let's say Nara, Shiga, Osaka and Kobe) but Tokyo people just adore Kyoto, my friends in Tokyo said one day, if a magazine's topic is Kyoto, it sells. Having said all those criticism against Kyotonians, Kyoto is a very livable cit, y maybe more than Zurich ( which is always ranked high for a livable city and I often used to visit Switzerland, in particular Zurich)

Happy friday everyone!!
Hopefully the weather is nicer where ever you guys are :D
I started Nine (that time traveler drama with Lee Jinwook) last night/this morning and I don't know what to make of it after just one episode. It was nothing like I expected, especially the directing and tone of the drama which has this very 90s vibe...I don't know if that's just me. I spent the first part of the episode completely confused and a bit bored because I could not grasp the story or the characters. It felt like I was pulled into it too quickly and missed the setup, but the second half was much more interesting. Now I am really intrigued to see where it goes. I heard good things about this drama and I really hope it won't disappoint!
Still watching Amachan. It really is meant to be a morning drama. I watch it to wake me up and while eating breakfast. It's lightness and cheery mood is effective in sending me off to work refreshed and in a good mood. I am 55 episodes in already. I am not yet hooked like I was with Mare but it sure flies by fast.
Does anyone else get impatient to finish a kdrama (whether they like it or not) just so that they can start a new one?
That's how I feel now. Although I am not hooked on any of the currently airing dramas, I still enjoy them. However, I am so eager for them to end so I can get my hands on new ones. I guess this is a side effect of my addiction. I always need more.

it took me 5 years of kdrama watching to be able to drop dramas in the middle that i did not like... i was too nosey or something, and couldn't skip to the last episode just to see the ending.
i don't peek at the endings, i just drop dramas now. there are too many good dramas to watch (old and new)!

I still can't get myself to drop dramas (unless it is L7CS...can I get those 17 hours of my life back please) or fast forward (scenes or episodes). I just like to enjoy them as wholes and I don't like the idea that I could miss something. Maybe in a few years I'll have a lower level of tolerance lol
I used to peek at endings when I read books...but I always ended up reading the whole thing anyway because reading the ending out of context added more to my curiosity than it satisfied it.
The biggest problem: too. many. good. dramas.

Amachan was super cute. Asadoran are really nice to watch sometimes. I wasn't to hooked on Mare, I guess Mare's choice of guy was a let down haha (I was rooting for Yuya Yagira's character)
I should finish the one with Haru and Tamaki Hiroshi.
Have you seen Gege no nyobo, it's really wonderful. I was hooked on Umechan sensei when it aired. Watched the SP episodes too.

I was on the Mare x Keita ship from the very beginning (although I was a bit disappointed about how their relationship took the step from platonic to romantic but they made up for it by the end).
That's probably why I enjoyed it more because I was rooting for Yamazaki Kento's character instead haha
I haven't seen Gege no nyobo or the one with Haru and Tamaki Hiroshi but I will take note of them and check them out eventually. Thank you for the rec :)

If the drama already finished, I tend to FF forward just to know what happen cause I realized that I don't have much feeling to the character anymore. I don't care to do the journey with the character and just want to know how the solution happen.
I once check only the last 2 ep to sort the end game. So, I dropped the middle part.
If the drama in ongoing, I just dropped it and pick it up later if I heard good things or randomly watch the newest ep to check things out.
not enjoying what I watch feel like a waste of time,
ps: if I watch drama while eating, it means I started to lose interest so I got a sign that it's not my cup of tea atm

@Am-- Actually I felt the same way you described when I watched the first episode of Nine. It definitely felt like I'd fallen onto a treadmill that had already been clipping along at a healthy pace, so the rhythm to me felt off. And it did/does seem a little outdated. Yet, I still advise you to stick with it.
And to answer your other question: I'm ALWAYS kinda impatient to finish a drama (any, not just korean ones) in order to get to another. I feel that way about books, too, and...just most things in general. I figure that means that I'm not really living in the present and now as much as I could be. It's the monkey mind described in some books (such as those by Eckhart Tolle, and earlier, in Buddhist tomes), where most of us are either preoccupied with the past and can't let go, while others are just hankering after the future, wondering where the next thrill is coming, why isn't it yesterday or next week already, etc.--i.e., basically a relentless discontentment with the present.
Addicted to dramas, yes. Needing more, yes. Wondering about the likelihood, when I've only just finished watching a memorable performance, of repeating the experience any time soon...triple yes!

Oh don't worry, I stuck with Nine and I am now more than half way through. I am really enjoying it and it keeps me guessing. The first episode was definitely jarring and oddly paced but the story eventually came together nicely. Now I am hooked and I understand why the first episode ended up giving this off feeling.
I am glad that I am not the only one who feels impatient for the next drama. I love your take on it. I never considered myself as someone who lived "in the future" instead of the past or present. Maybe there is some truth about being discontent with the present but hopefully it has more to do with the fact that there are just too many dramas and movies that I want to watch and too little time in the present to watch them all lol

No Mirror of the Witch today, beanies. Because they aired the Baeksang last night, we'll get both episode 7 and 8 tomorrow instead. I waited so long for it though :(
Speaking of Baeksang, I really felt like Six Flying Dragons has been ignored. It deserves so much more. But congrats to Yoo Ah In!
I'm so behind all my dramas except MotW. I kinda paused on watching Dear My Friends coz it's too much for my heart. OHYA has become too much for my brain to process. I've been putting off watching the latest Infinity Challenge Wedding Singers coz I know I will cry hard but I can't do that now. I've been getting really bad nosebleeds these days so trying to put less strain on my nose. ㅠㅠ
Anyway, I'm halfway through subbing episode 5 of Youth Over Flowers in Peru and I just fall deeper and deeper to the awesomeness of the three ahjusshis. Their music gives me life!
Have a great weekend, Beaniessss~!

I'm with you on this one. I liked the directing in Signal better than Reply. I feel like SFD is just a different league for writing. First of all, it's three times longer in episode length and the characters the writers had to handle are A LOT. They kept the show interesting for freaking 50 episodes. If that doesn't deserve an award, I don't know anymore. I also love Signal a lot but the last episode is quite a disappointment and the radio thing never got explained.

This will make three of us in the minority.
I prefer SFD for wrting as well. It would have been nice if they won either writing or Best Drama. Directing was a tough choice, but I'm happy with the winner.
I'm glad Yoo Ah in got Best Actor, but it would have made me more happy if he won both categories he was nominated in. I was shocked he lost in the film category.
Overall, I'm happy with the winners in TV category. There were none that I would have been angry about.

June 3, 2016 at 5:20 PM
Yes, in terms of sheer technical achievement, juggling 6-7 protagonists over 50 episodes while interweaving actual history with fictional story lines is a lot harder than writing 16 episodes. And SFD did all of that without ever losing sight of its central themes or dropping narrative threads - all the pieces felt thought out and relevant, and the payoffs really paid off. Signal started promisingly, but the timelines weren't fully thought out and devolved into nonsensical loops (So just how did anyone know to go to the abandoned hospital to look for a body in the first place? You can't claim that the folks in the past found out about it from the folks in the future if the folks in the future found out about it from the folks in the past.). Also, the secondary characters were pretty much one dimensional villains or victims, something that was definitely not an issue in SFD.

Anyone watching Return of Superman?
If so, what do you think of the new format for the new families? Do you think it's easier on the dads, or harder?
I only saw the first episode with the new format. I think it might be easier on the dads, in the sense that they might be able to get help, and with a group, they might have more things to show/shoot. An alone dad needs something prepared for the show (an activity, a guest, a trip, etc) and might get overwhelmed when babysitting his own kid(s) and guest kid(s) too...

I am not sure yet, but I think it might be a good thing because it allows us to see the relationships growing between the dads too. When you think about it, a lot of mothers go to mommy and baby groups but dads don't usually have that type of community. I am interested to see how they support each other.
I also think that the new format is a smart move with such young babies. Right now the kids are too young to do much, they're still in the blob stage, not a lot of movement. The main entertainment is what Dad is doing...

Watched Happy Home and I bawled like a baby in the first 3 episodes. I love the intensity, the angst, the dramas, and most of the characters. I still hate the twin brother and his immature behavior. I pity his wife. Kim Ji Ho really impresses me and I hope to see her in more roles. Kim So Yeon is nailing her part too. And Lee Pil Mo is deliciously, extremely, dashingly hot too! I sort of wish he was the lead male. And then his sexy deep voice just adds another layer of heaven. What a dreamy and dashing guy. :D

so i have something i'm curious about, a "why do dramas do that?" it may have been answered in the DB book but i haven't read it so i'm not sure.
i've been watching dramas for almost a decade i think, although a lot less in the latter half of that time period. i've seen a looot of dramas, and i've almost never seen the female lead call the male lead 'oppa'. even towards the end of the drama, when they're really close. the other girl will usually call the male lead oppa and the main girl will sometimes call the other guy oppa, but what does it signify or what is it meant to signify, the male and female lead don't usually end up in oppa territory?

I think Na jung in Reply 1994 called Oppa to her boyfriend.
Many weekend drama couple did call the boyfriend oppa, I remember one in All about my mom, one in five kids and many other.
I think they will not end up in oppa territory if they didn't start it as oppa-dongsaeng introduction. They often start with bickering and not acknowledging each other presence in age system since they supposedly don't get along at 1st.
other reasonI think is bc they are most often a sunbae, or in a higher position/boss/manager/the director, the same age or called by the profession (like Dr....).
So the oppa is replaced by sunbae or other position in the drama before used their name. There's so many drama have director XX
I also think it bc they just start the relationship or even just meet at the beginning of the drama so they are not that long into a relationship to be called oppa.

Hi all:
Loving the weekend dramas only.
Mirror of the Witch keeps amazing me with its commitment to working out the organic ramifications of its storytelling. No overabundance of coincidences so that when a coincidence does occur one genuinely feel it is fate.
Flower in Prison surprised me by having our heroine actually meet up with Her Majesty. What more can happen? I'm intrigued.
I will say though that the clothing these heroines in Mirror and Flower wear defy all logic. In last week's episode, our heroine was wearing a hanbok in her cell, the bad guys were just a step behind the good guys in their quest to murder our heroine. Next scene, heroine has changed into her badass spy outfit. It begs the question, did her rescuers turn their backs while she dressed in her cell? And how did she get those duds? Did she carry them into her cell when she was imprisoned? Or did one of the guys happen to carry it for her? They didn't even ask her why she was dressed the way she did. As for oori witch in the cave, who is her launderer? Heck, who sews or buys her clothes? Or does she use her powers to clothe herself?
Other than that, I'm really liking them.
Love Dear My Friends.
Reading recaps of the modern romcoms. Having my usual problem with trying to sit through the Master of Revenge.
Saw some good movies.
Marathoned the j-drama "Mother Game." Now there was a Mary Sue if ever I saw one. And the weird love interest that came out of the blue. Saw a few movies but none touched me as much as Forget-Me-Not. That is still with me.
Happy weekend, all.
