Yoo Da-in becomes latest addition to SBS drama Doctors
by tineybeanie
I wasn’t going to watch this drama. I really wasn’t, but it keeps on casting actors that I absolutely love: Kim Min-seok, who is riding a wave of popularity from Descended From the Sun, and the ever-adorable puppy dog Ji-soo (Page Turner) have already signed on. And now actress Yoo Da-in (One More Happy Ending) has just been confirmed for a role in the upcoming medical drama Doctors.
She will be playing the role of Cho In-ju, a down-to-earth surgeon who happens to have a one-sided crush on our leading man, Ji Hong, played by Kim Rae-won (Punch). Doctors is the story of a girl who has hit rock bottom and a practical man who wants to love with his mind instead of his heart. Taking place in the hospital, it will be a medical workplace romance in which a sunbae-hoobae relationship blossoms into something more. Park Shin-hye (Pinocchio) is set to star as our spunky downtrodden heroine Hye-jung, and Cho In-ju will be the long-time female friend of Ji Hong, who inspires jealousy in our heroine.
Yoo Da-in’s past work includes indie film Hye-hwa, Child (aka Re-encounter) and legal thriller The Client, and dramas like Plus Nine Boys, Tasty Life, and the Drama Special Ordinary Romance. In her most recent project, One More Happy Ending, she played the role of a breast-cancer-stricken working woman in a failing marriage, giving life to what could have been a very dislikable character. She successfully portrayed the insecurities of a woman who feels as though she is losing her femininity and, as a result, also her husband, in a relationship that arguably displayed greater emotional depth and realism than the main couple. So I’m super excited to see what she can bring to the table in her role as chic doctor Cho In-ju.
Writer Ha Myung-hee, who worked on High Society and One Warm Word, and PD Oh Choong-hwan, who worked on Birth of a Family and You from Another Star, are helming this new project. SBS Monday-Tuesday drama Doctors plans to air in June after sageuk drama Jackpot finishes broadcasting.

I personally don't plan to watch this show. If I do it would be because of some of the actors but I personally don't like medical dramas. Might be the same for tinybeanie.

I understand that you personally do not like medical drama, but it would be really nice of the author of this article if she were more specific, why she were not going to watch it - rather than turning people away from the drama without being more specific

My understanding is the author don't really like medical dramas (like some of us too) but he/ she will consider to watch because there are some of his / her favourite actors.
I also dont watch medical dramas, but might watch because it has Kim Rae Won.

Could we please have her husband from OMHE join in as her love interest? In this show... in every show... they need their own show! How beautiful were they together!!*sigh*

You've seen the character archetype in dramas and other television shows or movies before probably.
The ones who believe that love is an emotion like the rest which relies on chemical reactions to stimuli or the fulfilment of certain needs.

I think it's the reason he took the role.
We shall find out soon...

Maybe they mean he weighs in factors like money, background and status so he wants to love a woman who has all that. He's described as practical, so.

Kim Min-seok, Ji-soo, and of course Park Shin-hye. I'm liking this casting but the story doesn't interest me at all! I tend to veer away from both medical and police procedurals, so I hope this brings something new or at least entertaining to the table.

So I guess I'm in the minority who likes medical kdramas? The reason why I like them is because they're more about politics within the hospital, rather than solely about saving patients (like how some jdramas are) which I find boring lol. I haven't watched many medicals kdramas in recent years, but I remember binge watching one after another when I first got into kdrama.
Not to say this one's going to be good or bad, but I'll give it a try. I think there's way too many lovelines though, that's the one thing that lowers my expectations in it.

On the contrary, my sister do like medical drama, but she prefer jdrama more than kdrama, because less politics. Aha

Curious about Ji Soo's role,my first impression the first time he was casted was that he was like an cameo type(used in the flashback type of scenes from the heroine memories)rather than the full time character

"I wasn't going to watch this drama. I really wasn't..."
Ummm...Okay.
ANYWAY,
For a sixteen episode drama, this seems like it has a huge cast, and I'm kind of surprised at the lack of any idols thus far. I don't see this doing well ratings wise, but it will probably sell really well overseas, especially to China because PSH is leading.
I'm not too crazy about medical dramas, but will probably check this out for the cast, at least the first couple of episodes.

I really wish that Kim Min-seok won't turn out to be a second Ahn Jae Hyun(who also got a lot of attention after his role in you from another star) and be ever the more careful in picking his future projects(Blood: URRGHH . made my blood boiled). But Kim Min Seok reminds me a little of Ji Hoo, who in turn reminds me of Yoo Ah In, so fingers crossed that all of them will be able to advance far and well in their acting careers. Cheers!

Oh! Blood. Checked out early,I was tired of snooty male leads acting arrogant for no good reason. So you're a hot shot, okay, don't you think you'd have an easier time if you lowered your nose and took off those Damn Glasses and wore proper LONG PANTS FFS?!! At least Do Min Joon had a good excuse, they guy is 400+ years, older than anyone he knows(well, except CSY),saw his friends die...that is,if they stuck after learning his secret and he was distant and isolated not arrogant. Who else had a good one? I haven't watched Master's Sun so I don't know, maybe his dead girlfriend drove him to...you name it. Thank God for people like Healer,YongPal(Money Bug),Dae Woong(ManChild) and the likes with glaring or pecieved imperfections,at least Chef Sun Woo was lovable in his haughtiness and it was immediately apparent that he cared for his staff and friends. I hate when it takes so long to get to the good qualities. I call it the Gu Jun Pyo Syndrome. Thank God the trend is dying.

The way the author started her paragraph was so wrong.if Javabeans or Girlfriday wrote this, they would've given their reasons like 'not liking the lead or don't like the writer or the storyline not being good enough'.but with the way tinybeanie started hers, just turns people off.I don't like medical dramas but I love the casts.plus, this is one of the few upcoming drama without idols

Author is so bad. Starts off with a pessimistic sentences and doesnt even give her reasons. Do you know so many people depend on this website fot reviews and thoughts. That sentence will directly or indirectly sway our thoughts.
Please be more careful. Mistake wont be forgiven twice.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the way the author started her article. There are plenty of people who can be swayed to watch something they were not planning to, simply because it features their favourite actor/actress.
You're doing great, tinybeanie. I hope you don't get discouraged by a couple of rude comments.

+1 I totally agree. I loved the article, personally, and am ecstatic to get to know you better, Tinybeanie. So far as I can tell, all the DB authors have their favorites in both actors and show style--and it just makes the site more fun! I believe in you!

+1 I don't see anything wrong with it. I am the one who watch the drama and decide myself regardless what people say (Then again, I watch what people recommend in OT etc when there are too many to watch- esp. for non K-dramas).

I don't know what's up with the comments on DB these days.
The author is very free to express his/her opinions on any drama, there doesn't need to be a reason why. They're his/ her preferences. It's only an opinion after all. There is no need to get all up in arms about it. The reader also can read it and form their own opinions as well. And I think statements criticizing the author or comparing them to other writers are quite rude. We should appreciate their efforts, as where would we be, if they didn't write at all?

I'm not a big fan of medical dramas myself, but I am watching for puppy Jisoo and, hopefully, Yoon Kyun Sang (Has he signed on yet? I need more warrior cutie turned handsome young doctor in my life.) I actually don't hate the plot, and while I'm on again off again about Park Shin Hye, I really loved Pinocchio and her performance in it, so I'm going to watch this with an open mind where she's concerned. I believe she's grown in her acting, unlike others *cough KuHyeSun cough*
Articlewise, the author has a right to express that they did not want to watch this originally. There are a lot of dramas I don't watch because I don't like the genre, or the synopsis, or the cast, or what have you. Whatever the author's reason is, it's personal.
For example, I have yet to watch DoTS because I think it's overhyped at present and I'm not in the mood for its genre either. Does that make me a horrible human being who shouldn't voice how I feel about it? No. Perhaps I'll watch it later; perhaps not. I don't watch dramas because other people are watching them. Now, if someone gives me a recommendation; sure I might check a drama out that's not my normal fair. However, if I decide against it or perhaps don't care for it the same way, they aren't offended. There's no need to be.
