Namgoong Min, Minah are all smiles for Beautiful Gong-shim

Here’s our first look at Namgoong Min (Remember-Son’s War) playing the good guy for the first time in a long while, as the leading man in lighthearted romantic-comedy drama Beautiful Gong-shim. Previously titled Beast’s Beauty, this new weekend drama is about the love story between a set of sisters and a set of half-brothers and premieres next week on May 14.
The main lead played by Girl’s Day idol Minah (Sweet Savage Family) is Gong-shim, an unemployed girl with a warm heart but no prospects. Her sister Gong-mi, played by Seo Hyo-rim (Endless Love), received all the looks and intelligence in the family. The teaser hilariously has Gong-shim despairing how she inherited all the bad genes.
Namgoong Min plays Ahn Dan-tae, a wrongfully accused ex-convict who becomes a lawyer for the common people. His half-brother, played by Ohn Joo-wan (Village: Secret of Achiara), is a chaebol heir who thinks Gong-shim is cute in her own way. Previously published synopses also mention that Ahn Dan-tae has great body coordination that allows him to avoid punches easily. How that plays in with his role as kindly lawyer, I don’t know. But Namgoong Min has been reported to have been working out to match his character’s backstory (obligatory shower scene, anyone?).
It seems that even behind the scenes, there’s been great rapport between the actors and the staff, which makes me optimistic about the quality of the final product. Minah was seen dancing a funny dorky Macarena to cheer up the production team during a particularly late night shoot, and Namgoong Min has been reputed to take care of his surrounding people very well. Brought to you by the same team that put together Girl Who Sees Smells, hopefully we can anticipate something with similar fun hijinks and touching emotional beats.
Beautiful Gong-shim airs as a 20-episode SBS weekend drama beginning May 14.

Yay Nam Goong Min's first ever public channel lead role, I'm so excited!
Minah is so freakin cute, I love her eye smile and cute face, she's decent at acting, hopefully, she'll be better with this one. At least she doesn't ruin projects. I'll add that she's so pretty, I like her.

The mood on the set seems so good! But with moodmaker Minah, I can't imagine them NOT having a blast. Hopefully it will at least be entertaining. I wonder what the story behind Gong Shim's change in hairstyle will be, since she has her normal hair in some of the clips and stills and the wig in the others.

About her hair. It seems that will be a prologue, before Namgoong Min's character is wrongfully accused. That would explain Minah's short wig.
Her natural long hair would be after the prologue, the series original time-line, with the hero out of prison.

Last time I saw NGM as a lead role as a good guy was in the drama "My Lovely Family" back in 2004 on KBS. It was a daily drama though. That's actually how I discovered NGM. That seems like an eternity ago though lol. Very excited for this. :D

Or use the baseball bat to hit someone when he gets into one of his anger outburst. I can't separate his psychotic role with this one! YET. Hopefully Minah is able to pull it off. I know NGM definitely can. But isn't he much much older than Minah.. Argh, the uncle/father and young girl combo again.

My memories of Namgoong Min are all good ones - I liked him a lot in One Fine Day and I Need Romance. In both dramas, he was charming and sweet, in fact, I was rooting for him over Gong Yoo in that dark unhappy drama One Fine Day: he was all light and sunshine and wry humor in a drama that was filled with grim, unhappy people. I watched I Need Romance and stopped midway, and again, he was charming and flirtatious and sweet. I have never seen any of his psychopath dramas, so I can't vouch for whether he's a better actor at playing dark roles, but I'm pretty sure he's going to be lovely in this drama and I'm going to watch it for him. Really pleased he's getting a lead role finally.

I watched one fine day alooooong time ago that I don't even remember he was there, i am actually surprised to know he was there, anyway i liked his psychopath acting especially in Remember he was the best villain, so I am the opposite of you i wonder how he will do in a nice guy character

Ironically I recall NGM playing the corrupt antagonist in Remember, whose main character was a lawyer. Now HE is the lawyer, haha! I sincerely hope for this to be good.

I'm really happy about this. I really liked him in Sensory Couple. His friendly restaurant scenes with SSK at the beginning were the best.
