Kwon Yul in talks to join Bring It On, Ghost

We’ve got another possible casting addition to tvN’s supernatural horror-comedy drama Bring It On, Ghost, the webtoon adaptation about a ghost and an exorcist becoming roommates. The series has confirmed Kim So-hyun (Who Are You—School 2015) to headline, and Ok Taecyeon (Assembly) is considering the lead role opposite her. I appreciate that you guys did your best to shield me from the news; it was the most thoughtful reason anyone’s ever had for cutting off my internet access. But until Taec is 100% confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt, I’m just going to keep hope alive.
In any case, I’m happy about the drama courting Kwon Yul (One More Happy Ending) to play a ghost-seer in the drama. If he signs on, it’ll be a reunion with PD Park Jun-hwa of Let’s Eat 2, which is the drama that made me really like him.
Bring It On, Ghost is about a young man (surely no longer a teenager, if they’re going to cast Taecyeon?) who can see and touch ghosts, and takes on a side job as an exorcist by chasing spooks out of people’s homes. Kim So-hyun plays a schoolgirl ghost he faces off with, and she puts up such a good fight that he can’t get rid of her like the others, and she takes up residence in his house. All she ever did was study when she was alive, and she’ll discover a whole new side of life after death, including boys.
Kwon Yul is considering an offer to play a character who’s been able to see ghosts from a young age. It’s the reason why he was abandoned by his parents, though he did get adopted and grew up to become the youngest professor of psychiatry at a prestigious university hospital. He also owns a mortuary, which seems like the last place a ghost-seer would want to be. But maybe he’s not afraid of ghosts… maybe they’re afraid of him? Great, I just creeped myself out.
Bring It On, Ghost follows Oh Hae-young Again on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning in July.

Gosh I am already sick of the age gap trend drama world is having this year. And I really don't want Kim so hyun to be paired up with a guy much older to her. Can't we just have one couple that we can actually ship?
Or, is that too much to ask for?

I actually like the story line of this drama. I am willing to watch it Just hope they fix the casting a bit.
I don't think Yook Sungjae has any projects lined up, that, and the fact he will be leaving WGM gives hope the he can take up the lead here. No one would mind a who are you? reunion. Even Nam Jo Hyuk can pop in for a cameo.

Sigh. This drama had so much possibility to cast range of young actors and it would have been their time to shine.

Still crying over the fact that they even considered Taecyeon casting on this drama, more over as the lead. Sigh. If they would cast an idol, they should have went with Sungjae instead. I'm pretty sure more people (aka those who were disappointed with School 2015) would anticipate for this.

There's one naver article about him confirming the drama but it has like 14 comments with like 45 upvotes which are most likely from his fans... I was hoping that KSH would drop it and just move onto a next drama because this pairing is not going to work at all. And I doubt that taec is going to drop the drama.... JYP will probably pay them lots of money to make sure that he's cast.

Glad for your positive comment. I actually like the way his acting is developing. He's not a natural but working very hard and getting better with each project. Great smile and body. Just hope he doesn't end up on the scandal heap like that other young guy.

This new update is like drama Cheo Yong by Oh Ji Ho. He is the detective can see ghost since small but his power is know and accepted by his parents. His use ghost to catch bad guys/bad ghost.
Will watch this drama if Taecyeon in. He need one more drama before doing the military services. Well, if Kim So Hyun not doing this drama, maybe other actress that older than her can replace her.

I don't think this site is full of people who hate Taec. Lots of people here like him(just not as an actor etc). We can all agree that he's pretty(to look at). It also has to do with miscasting. Well, if they follow the webtoon, hero's supposed to be 17. Taec is far from 17 and doesn't look the part. And there is the age gap issue. The age gap wouldn't be much of a problem if Kim So-hyun(heroine, age-appropriate for the role) wasn't underaged. She's 16 and that makes it icky not romantic. So while Taec may or may not show heaps of improvement in terms of acting ability, it won't change the fact that Kim So-hyun won't magically age up.

I really like Taecyeon as a person. He is nice and dorky. But that doesn't mean that I can't find his previous acting cringy. There is a chance he has improved. But that means he should show his improvement through a small role and moves up from there. Why insisting on a lead role?
Because there is a huge probability that his acting is still bad. I can totally see why the audience does not want to take that risk. On top of that the big age gap (with Soohyun being a minor) is not very appealing either.
Even some very talented actors like Park Bogum or Song Joongki start with small roles, learn, and work their way up, and only lead when they have enough skill, star power, and recognization from the public. People who want to lead even when they are not 100% make me think they don't take acting seriously and just want the fame that comes with it.

Believe me we love him. I think there's no bad comment about him on three meals articles (or maybe there is, one or two. I dont know. It just not significant.) the thing is the only character he played well is Ok Bingu. On othee dramas, his expression is limited in angry face, or confused face. Even in a happy scene all his expression is awkward grinning with confused eyes.
Thats why a lot of people concern about his casting. Just like when yoona and nodame. No matter how crazy yoona can pull, noone can picture her in frizzy dirty hair living with garbages (even the drama turned out not as drastic as real japanese nodame)

Taec is awesome, just not as an actor. I am not bandwagoning either since I have suffered through watching him in Dream High all the way to Assembly and just about every drama in between (Wonderful Days was probably his least cringe worthy attempt at acting). I'd hate to see him get out-acted by a teenager.

Hate is strong word. Think about it, do people on this site really HATE him? I don't think so. They just don't like his acting very much and don't think he is right for this role. But when he is performing with 2pm and doing variety like Three Meals a Day he is okay. Personally, I don't dislike him one bit. He actually has a great personality. As far as his acting goes I don't think he is terrible, but he is not that good either. The problem here is that I think he is not right for this story. I can only assume they will change the story a bit, since I can't see him as a romantic lead with a young girl.

Wasn't he given enough chances by now? If you mess up at your job time and time again or only barely manage to be adequate do you expect a promotion? He cannot act and has no business being an actor. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but main roles aren't given or should not be given for nice personality. There are enough young talented actors to choose from in South Korea, but they're losing jobs because pretty idol boys with nice personalities are getting all the good opportunities while doing nothing to deserve them. It's nice that you pity him for getting hard comments and getting his feelings hurt, too bad you're not pitying talented actors stuck in minuscule crappy roles or indie movie land as well.

Fangirls are always pleading for viewers to 'give oppa a chance' but c'mon, Taec has had chance after chance and his acting has merely gone for absolutely terrible to stolid and workmanlike. When there are so many talented actors out there, and so many others who would fit the part better, it is ridiculous to try and shoehorn a mediocre, aging idol into the slot.

Everyone has seen Taecyeon act. And some more than others. He just doesn't have it. It's clear that the people casting him are doing so for his looks at this point–and those looks are outstanding–but I think everyone would much rather have someone who can act the part rather than look it. No hard feelings; I really do like him and I'm sure we all do...just not in dramas.
Also, I'm sure years of idol life has taught Taec either never to read the comments or that he'll never have time to read the comments (or much of anything). So I doubt he's scourging the web reading our opinions on his talent.

Taec is a nice guy and I like him. I'd probably be positive if he tries acting again and hope that he'll improve. However, this casting is just absurd. I don't understand why they will cast him for a role like this. He doesn't look the role at all and it's not like there are no other younger actors out there.

Ah, hit submit, prematurely! I wanted to say that Kwon Yul is great and I'm glad I'm starting to see him around more. I'll forever love him for his role in Brain as the attending doctor who kept falling asleep in class. I was watching that drama while in college and that character was 100% relatable to me. It also made me realize I was doing all that falling asleep because I was stressed out! So I have fond feelings.

People are justified in their criticism of his acting and the fact that he is way too old for her as long as they aren't adding unnecessarily mean comments along with it. He isn't a good actor and should probably stop or take serious acting lessons.
Taecyeon isn't the only victim of acting criticism. People tear Jin Se-yeon apart in ever article that mentions her.
Criticizing someone's acting isn't the same as calling them ugly and saying they should go die.

KDY is really perfect for the lead role. Unfortunately it seems FNC has scheduled him in mnet survival show, Band or Dance (BOD) in June. Kang Chanhee the actor who play the Hyung in Signal also will take part in the show. But still there's no confirmation about this yet.

Does age really matter in acting career. I mean it is the beauty of acting that boss you are playing an older age or younger age in spite of the fact that It is not your real age. thanks God all this age matter is not in my country. I already feel like taec has been cast already.... JYP probably made sure because the dude is for sure not getting all of these acting gigs for the last 6 years with talent...and of course all of his fan girls are already here defending him... but then actresses like jin se yeon or other idol actresses like seolhyun (who only had like 1 lead drama) gets unanimously teared apart.

Yes, it does. A young girl should have a young guy as her co-star if there is to be some type of romance. Kim So Hyun is still a minor and Taecyeon is very, very not. If she was 20 or 21–no problem. But she is not. And there is no shortage of much better and age appropriate actors for the [male] part.

Is Park Ji-bin still in the military? I wonder if they can cast him instead of Taec for the main role. He's older than Kim So-hyun but at least he's still a teenager. I like Taec the most in 3MAD but I'm not sure he's as terrible an actor as everyone thinks he is. Then again, I have a hard time picking out terrible acting unless it's like really, can't emote terrible.

Bring It On, Ghost is about a teenager who can see and touch ghosts. However, the teenager ages physically each time he drives out a spook, to the point that the teenager now resembles a 27-year-old man with abs.

I agree, I think the writing sort of painted him into a one-dimensional corner (is that possible?). His character was only interesting in that it was ironic, that this princely character that all the females chased was actually very cold and unappealing once you got to know him.
But they didn't do anything with that, they didn't show any growth in his character, his realization of his own cold nature did not lead to any positive change in his actions or his manner. He was manipulative, then felt a bit sorry for it. Really, a waste of a character but then there were a lot of loose threads and half-formed characters in that show.

That's a good example why I dislike these idols in drama. Let them take a supporting role rather than a lead which their acting does not merit.
(JGS is a good example of that too. His drama is doing so well because of Yeo Jin-Goo and Choi Min-Soo, and not because of him; But he will get the credit as the lead.

Umm, I agree with you, but JGS is definitely not a good example for the point you’re trying to make since he's been acting for like what? almost 20 years? He was a child actor for crying out loud. He went from acting to singing and not the other way around. And to say he has nothing to do with his drama doing well, that is both harsh and presumptuous.

I simply can't stand the fact that a Drama with a plot like this will fall into the dark side of my "dropped list" because of a leading man who can't act.

They're not busy. The casting crew wanted Taec, that's all.
Pretty simple.
And he took the role, so it's done. I'm sure there are plenty of other dramas and gigs left for those you like :)
