Drama viewership ratings for the week of Feb. 8-14, 2016

A week without Cheese in the Trap feels like a very long week indeed, though I’m not quite sure if anyone shed too many tears over Moorim School’s pre-emption. The only reason why the latter is more tragic than the former is because it didn’t have the audience to spare over the one-week span—next week will be the true test for the embattled youth show.
Signal seems to be continuing its upward climb, and it seems very likely that it might break the 10% mark before the end of its run—which would be huge, given that it’s on cable network tvN. I wonder if, after this latest season, it won’t be so novel when cable shows on tvN do well. They just seem hard-wired for success lately.
Otherwise, no big shakeups on the weekend scene. Please, Mom is ending its long run at last, and while I’m not entirely current (almost!), I’ll be sad to see it go—along with almost 35% of the Korean viewing public. Come back soon, Eugene!

I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to a long weekend ending because it means the return of Cheese! tvn's really been knocking it out of the park lately - yet another drama headed to double- digits AND a weekday drama with numbers comparable to previous smash hit weekend dramas? The programming directors must be celebrating.
(also as I was typing this, I realised the header is none other than Kim Hyun-joong.....don't know if this is the right place, but can that one please be retired? Hope I don't have to go into the reasons why)

Kim Hyun Joong is in the army at the moment and should not come back before early 2017 =) the lead of CITT is Par Hae Jin (http://asianwiki.com/Park_Hae-Jin ).

I must be an exception bc i was waiting to see moorim school...and when it wasn't posted the next day. I realized (and forgot) it was preempted. I'm still watching signal and loving it... happy ending , on the other hand, i can wait a bit unlike the other 2 where i try to watch it as soon as it is posted.
I can't wait for the next batch of shows ;)

Son's war is almost ending hopefully that will bring the ratings up, it is a good show the only problem is that it has tough competition.

Yeah, I hope they at least finish out with double digits. I always feel kinda sorry to the cast/crew when dramas have such poor ratings- I would help your numbers if I could show! But I don't count T_T

Wow that is a big drop in ratings for Six Flying Dragons, even after taking into the account that it was during the Lunar New Year period. The rating for SFD on Tuesday was only 14%, but Dazzling Temptation had already returned to 11%. Seems like Dazzling Temptation is really catching up.

Dazzling Temptation will never get the lead while 6FD is airing, I guarantee that. 6FD is the leading programme so it probably lost some viewers to new year, but it will go up to 15 percent again soon.

Hopefully! It's just a little worrying how Dazzling Temptation quickly returned to pre-New Year ratings but SFD is still hovering at 14%... I thought now the drama is down to its last 12 episodes (so sad I can't believe it's ending) the ratings would increase and stay in the higher teens.

Feb 10 was the last day of the New Year holidays, so neither SFD nor GT actually got any return to pre-New Year ratings there - they were both aired during the holiday, and SFD viewers are more likely to be in the demographic that actually goes out/skips tv for a bit during that time (i.e. young).
But like @pigsnout said, they didn't actually drop by too much, and are still very safely in the lead.

SFD's ratings should increase heading towards it's last few episodes. I am surprised that it hasn't reached 20% given it's appeal to a wider range of audience who are most women and young viewers. I think if it came out before Jeong Do Jeon it would have been in the 20s already.
JDJ was a hit with the male viewers 30+yr old and up. It managed to top at 19.8%. Which goes to say that there is still a place for authentic sageuks on tv.

Yeah precisely, I thought since they've reached 18% last week the ratings would stay in that range or even break through the 20% mark since we've almost reached the climax - Bang-won completely consumed by his desire for power and turning against JDJ. Hopefully this week's ratings would increase further! It's an awesome show minus the inconsistency for Nameless.

It hasn't gotten to 18% yet. The highest so far was last week at 16.8%.

What I think we're seeing here is that tvN is like HBO or AMC with certain blockbuster shows with ratings way outside the norm. I think it really started here when True Blood first took off for HBO and had ratings grow with every episode; people on forums were admitting they were subscribing to HBO to watch the new episodes. Then HBO followed that kind of success up with Game of Thrones and AMC had breakout hits like Mad Men and Walking Dead. Now it's not terribly strange for a cable channel to produce a flagship show like this.
Since tvN is a pay cable channel, I bet if we had subscriber numbers we'd see a solid upward trend. When you keep delivering shows this good (and those 4-9% ratings don't lie) people develop expectations. Even people on this forum and similar forums are saying things like they'd just subscribe to tvN if they could.

Yes, he knows how to play the piano, he did in "Roommate" but he is just ok. If you watch that episode (can't remember which), EXO Chanyeol (If i remember correctly) was better.

The ratings for "I Have a Lover" episode 45 (Saturday) was wrong. It's only 5.2% according to Daum (the Nielsen website also did not indicate it as having 8+% ratings).
You also forgot "Yes, That's How It Is," which premiered on Saturday to... oof, 4.0%. That's got to hurt, especially since it's Kim Soo-hyun we're talking about here.

Remember and Signal are my favs with CITT so it's nice to see good ratings. Happy for YSH....he's so young and his comeback show was a good hit. I'm expecting big things from him especially since he finished military.
Bless the Gods CITT is back tomorrow! Also how is it that Signal is already half way through its run??! I don't want it end ever!
Kinda sad about OMH's ratings.....I dropped the show but JKH is doing such a good job.

Remember reached 18% on episode 18! woohoo! Congrats to all the cast and writers! The drama may be hella sad and frustrating but it's worth it(: Or at least the good actors make it worth it haha

Remember is fighting the last length of his war. after ep 20 ended. the Son will be continuing with his neverending Alz war, the worst is yet to come, which is what angst me, and make us wanna plead with the Writernim to allow InAh to stay with Jinwoo forever. while i have no problem YSH will soar in career after this, his crystal eyes that can emo fear, tears and pride and danger all at one ep, his cherry lips that oozed charm... promised a neverending horizon.
but what will happen to jinwoo after that, and the many Jinwoos in the world, getting Alz is a taboo topic, the Writernim, should handle with care, better don't give a surprise sad ending just to take it thrilling.... i will do more than flip laptop. but worst will be those Alz patient or Alz loved ones watching this.

hmm, are there are no ratings for 그래 그런거야? it's not on the dramabeans drama schedule either. i think it's a new sbs weekend drama from writer kim soo-hyun that aired its first episode yesterday (saturday).
i haven't had time to watch it, but have the episodes downloaded ready to go. i skimmed the first few minutes cause i had no idea what the show was about, but when i saw the super A-list veteran cast, i remembered that writer kim had a drama due this year and started suspecting it might be hers. did some research, and sure enough, it was hers. so funny how you can recognize a kim soo-hyun drama by the quality of its cast!
can't wait to delve into those two episodes later today. writer kim's dramas aren't always hits for me (a thousand day promise was so depressing), but her dialogue is so amazing. you really have to be fluent to appreciate it. i just never cease to marvel at her wit, and gift!
anyway, i too have missed cheese! last week was so empty without it. i like it when there's a fun mon/tues drama going on, it makes the beginning of the week a little easier :)

4.0% on Saturday, 5.8% on Sunday. The first two episodes went head-on against the finale of Please Mom, and I doubt the numbers will improve this week because of the finale of Mom. Maybe, by the third week...
