Kill Me, Heal Me: Episode 8

This episode had me in stitches. So many stitches. What’s great about this show is how increasingly grounded it becomes in its own reality, letting the humor run high and the pathos run deep. Although the metaphors aren’t subtle, the emotional delivery and throughline are everything I could wish for, and I’m in awe of Ji Sung and his power to inhabit a character (…inhabited by other characters). Just in Do-hyun, he draws out the painful mixture of loneliness, fear and isolation which serve to make him a man apart — less a beast and more an alien, the only one of his kind.

So we can cheer up that Do-hyun — whose inner circle is more like a line with two points — gets to add his third point, making it at least a triangle (and about time, too). And we all know triangles have mystical magical powers. In this case: Friendship! Bromance! Romance! Lipstick!

EPISODE 8 RECAP

Do-hyun struggles in Ri-jin’s grip. He forcefully frees himself, which surprises Ri-jin and Chief Ahn. They simultaneously exclaim, “Shin Se-gi?!”

“I’m Cha Do-hyun!” he yells at them. They’re not used to seeing gentle Do-hyun mad. As if he isn’t there, Ri-jin and Chief Ahn discuss him, worried his fit of temper might provoke a switch. He insists that he’s not annoyed, but when Ri-jin encourages him to express his feelings, he bellows at her. Ri-jin and Chief Ahn reel and ask again, “Shin Se-gi?!” Hahaha.

Do-hyun drops a ton of reading in front of Ri-jin, and enjoys her dismay. They include his patient histories from Dr. Seok, detailed profiles on each alter, and his personal diaries from the last eleven years.

Ri-jin asks where she’ll be living — is it somewhere nearby? She hasn’t looked at the contract yet, so they explain that since she needs to keep an eye on Do-hyun 24/7, she has to live with him. She has a little meltdown.

Composed again, she asks what they’ll do about when he’s at the office. Chief Ahn cryptically mentions a disguise while Do-hyun is a picture of innocence. Haha, he’s relishing this so much. It must be the first fun he’s had for years.

Outside, the chief asks Do-hyun what’ll happen if she turns it down. He repeats Do-hyun’s earlier words about not letting her get close to him, and notes how Do-hyun contains his own emotions so strongly — but for the first time in eleven years, Chief Ahn saw him get annoyed because someone got past his walls. (Do-hyun: “I didn’t get annoyed!”) His parting advice to Do-hyun is, “Don’t lose her.”

Do-hyun catches Ri-jin trying to sneak away, but he pulls her back by the collar. Ri-jin: “Shin Se-gi?!”

“I’m Cha Do-hyun,” he says, and marches her back in.

She complains about the “slave contract” (apparently the disguise is to be his “secretary”) and he says it’s her fault for not reading it first. He tells her to check her account, and the amount deposited makes her eyes pop.

If she takes the secretary-guise, he offers to double it. She laughs in his face and even refuses triple (though it clearly pains her) and tries to run. He holds her back again, and reminds her that they agreed that she can’t turn back, and he can’t send her away.

Maybe she’s looking for a way to stay now, because she’s grinning madly at him the whole time, no longer refusing. She feigns a leg cramp as an excuse, and he goes along with it. He kneels at her feet to massage it out, and they share a sweet moment.

Chief Ahn brings Grandma Seo up to speed on Do-hyun’s trustworthy new doctor. She orders him to investigate her background anyway. Before leaving, he asks if she actually knows what ails Do-hyun. Instead of answering, she tells him his discretion was a big part of why she employed him and saw to his education. Hm, so she owns him? She warns him not to hold hands with the other side, and to stay with Do-hyun.

Ki-joon’s interview with Dr. Seok proved unfruitful. He had tried to probe for information on Do-hyun’s condition, having noted his strange behavior. Ki-joon’s guess is drugs or alcohol, and he pleads worry about his cousin. Dr. Seok merely explains Do-hyun away as one of his many students — a scenario Ki-joon doesn’t buy. He thinks Do-hyun is trying to outmaneuver him for control of the company.

He’s surprised to receive a call from Do-hyun’s blind date, Ji-sun, who asks after his and Chae-yeon’s relationship.

He looks for Chae-yeon, and orders her to apologize to Ji-sun, so as to quell the rumors going around about her. He censures her for making a scene at Do-hyun’s blind date, despite her engagement to him. The juicy story causes people to question her motives, especially since Do-hyun emerged as the prime successor to the company.

Livid, she says she did it for Ji-sun’s sake, because she couldn’t stand Do-hyun coveting her friend’s stocks. Ki-joon wants to cut off the rumors by getting engaged already, but his mode of proposal upsets her. He shouts that she’s the one showing him up and making a making a mess of his engagement. Oh you two are as bad as each other.

Chae-yeon flips out and tells him she’s not getting engaged until after the shareholder meeting.

Meanwhile, Do-hyun tutors Ri-jin on the alters’ personalities, and she’s particularly interested in the two she hasn’t met, Nana and Yo-na. He also familiarizes her with the people he needs to hide his illness from at all costs, including Grandma and Ki-joon’s dad.

He authorizes her to use any means necessary to keep the alters in line. She meets the instruction with a cute salute, distracting him into a warm smile. It brings Chief Ahn’s question back to his mind, whether he’s confident about keeping her at a measured distance.

The next slide is Ki-joon and Chae-yeon, whom she teases him about — she’s so pretty, he must have like-liked her. The doorbell saves him from responding.

It’s Chae-yeon. Upset, she beats on him for making her into the “protagonist of a makjang drama” — isn’t she his first love? Who is really in his heart — is it that woman, Oh Ri-jin? Inside, Ri-jin has her ear to the door and listens in shock.

In answer, he calls Ri-jin to come out. Ooo. Reluctantly, she complies, and he makes a show for Chae-yeon…who answers him with a slap. Ri-jin tries to explain, but Do-hyun wordlessly holds her back while the other woman leaves.

Examining his face, Ri-jin offers to be his drinking buddy if he’s not okay. He just tells her their lessons are over for the day.

At the Oh house, Mom and Dad mope and pick at their breakfast, worrying about Ri-jin. Ri-on, on the other hand, is all appetite and scolds his parents for their over-concern — that’s why Ri jin is all messed up inside, he says, taking on everyone else’s pain as well as her own. He leaves the table.

Instead of working, Ri-on looks through old photos on his computer and each photo brings up a memory. A childhood snap takes us to little Ri-jin and Ri-on. Mom urges them to smile — they’re oppa and dongsaeng now. Awww Mom, I love you.

Dad joins their hands and Ri-jin smiles shyly at her new brother. But he throws her to the ground with a glower, so she launches herself at him in a retaliatory headbutt, as the parents try to break it up.

The memory makes Ri-on smile. Next is high school, where their fighting relationship continues, although it’s now full of affection (sort of), as Ri-jin grabs him by the throat for stealing her homework. The arrival of her crush saves him, as she goes all googly-eyed. But later, Ri-on catches the guy getting kissy with another girl, and protects his sister from seeing it.

Mom bursts into his room and he slams the laptop shut. She confronts him about his nekky posters and grabs the computer out of his hands. She’s subdued when she sees what he’s really been looking at. He totally plays it up and runs off wailing like a toddler. Lol.

Dad starts to ask Mom something to do with the twins, mumbling something cryptic about rumors abounding about “that family,” but she shuts him up.

Chief Ahn updates Do-hyun about the Omega fan club reading, which is today. Ri-jin pops in to make coffee, and her ears prick up when she hears her brother’s name. Chief Ahn hasn’t been able to procure a photo of the elusive author, but shares the rumors he heard (from Ri-on, ha) of Omega’s “Won Bin-level looks.” Ri-jin sprays her coffee all over Do-hyun in incredulity. HAHAHA, say it, don’t spray it!

Do-hyun maintains his careful indifference to her and suggests to Chief Ahn that they head out for the event. But Chief Ahn has an unavoidable appointment and excuses himself, so both men turn to Ri-jin, who wails at her bad luck. Lol, Chief Ahn just appointed himself Chief Wingman.

Chief Ahn recites Rule 2 of the contract that stipulates that she has to be by Do-hyun’s side 24/7. She counters with Rule 4: Except while they are secretary and VP, she and Do-hyun have equal standing. So her condition for going along today is that she gets an hour of counseling with him each day. Not for treatment, she tells him: “Let’s be friends.” She badgers him until he finally agrees.

Chief Ahn’s appointment is with Do-hyun’s mom. She doesn’t mince her words and asks him whose side he’s on — is he Grandma’s spy, or is he faithful to Do-hyun? She warns him that he’d better not backstab Do-hyun.

Ri-on’s mom watches him from afar with concern. He wishes his sister had stayed after all, chaebol doctor or not. His editor calls to tell him his fan club reading is on. But he has a bad feeling about it and warns Ri-on not to go, since it might risk his cover. ID Entertainment is going all-out to try and secure the film rights for his books, he adds. Ri-on casually confirms that that’s a Seungjin subsidiary.

The reading is atmospheric and lively. Among the audience, Do-hyun is on the edge of his seat, caught up in the mood. Aww, that unguarded laugh. It concludes, and Do-hyun turns to Ri-jin to share his excitement…HAHA WHAT. He wonders if being all covered up isn’t more noticeable, and she warily unwraps — just as Ri-on bounds in. She panics, almost spilling his secret identity to Do-hyun.

She makes a save by saying her brother is Omega’s fan — but she can’t be seen by him because he thinks she’s in the U.S. Do-hyun catches her panic now, too, and helps bundle her out.

Ri-on spots Do-hyun and calls out, “Perry!” The two escapees freeze, and Do-hyun tells her to run while Ri-on pounces on him.

Do-hyun distracts him from Ri-jin by grabbing his ears in greeting. HAHA. Ri-on squirms in his clutches and points at all the people. Once he’s sure Ri-jin got out safely, Do-hyun lets his ears go with an apologetic laugh.

Away from the hubbub, they have a quiet conversation. Do-hyun tells Ri-on that he came looking for Omega, and is surprised to find him a fan. Ri-on mentions two books in particular. One is the “Switched-twin Murder Case,” and the other is “The Child in the Basement.” Those happen to be the only ones Do-hyun hasn’t read.

Ri-on outlines the plot of the latter: A boy and a girl became like siblings after an accident. It then sounds like the story Ri-jin told Do-hyun about herself — a girl who is afraid of basements, whose parents send her there on chores to cure her of her fear.

Ri-on adds more, and we’re given a flashback with little Ri-jin and Ri-on. Every time she had to go down there, she took him, too — and he would go, despite his own fear. But eventually, he began to question why he was afraid. Although he discovered the reason, the girl never remembered. The boy, Ri-on says, made it his mission to find her lost memories.

Do-hyun becomes increasingly agitated by the story, and relives his fragmented memories of his own nightmare-basement. He nearly collapses, and Ri-on runs to get him water.

Sweat beads on his face, and Do-hyun struggles to stay conscious. Then, a hand takes his — it’s Ri-jin.

Ri-on returns to an empty room, and he goes out just in time to see her get Do-hyun into his car. He frowns, “Ri-jin?” He runs after the departing car, but it’s already out of his reach.

In the car, she tells Do-hyun to hang in there. He clutches his head, and she keeps up a stream of reassurance. She’s worried when he knocks out, and keeps calling his name.

His head snaps up, and…it ain’t Do-hyun anymore. With a head-toss and a ton of attitude, this has got to be Yo-sub’s twin, Yo-na. S/he orders Ri-jin to stop the car, and complains, “Girl, you’re so noisy! Stop talking! Close your mouth!” The bossy alpha-teen girl-talk coming out of Ji Sung’s mouth is…omg I’m dying — I don’t know what’s funnier, Yo-na’s scolding or Ri-jin’s startled compliance.

Ri-jin recalls what she knows about Yo-na. Dr. Seok nicknamed her the “manager of suffering.” When Do-hyun is extremely distressed but needs to keep his head down, she absorbs it. Do-hyun considers her the most dangerous — a boy-crazy, idol-chasing sasaeng fan. It’s hilarious how outraged he is by her behavior.

Yo-na filches Ri-jin’s hair clip, and we see her as she sees herself, in pink lipstick and a pink school uniform blazer. She agonizes over her ajusshi face. Ri-jin is speechless.

Suddenly spotting an idol-oppa, she’s out of the car in a flash. Oh man, that flaily, girly running. HAHA. Ri-jin gives chase.

There’s a fanmeet for idol group “Rocking” (special appearance by LU:KUS), and they explain how their edgier music attracts more male fans — and look, here’s one of them now! Yo-na pushes her way to the front, squealing for her oppas…except to the rest of the world, she still looks like Do-hyun. She nearly dies when she’s invited on to the stage.

Her moment is interrupted by Ri-jin, who gets her with a missile to the head. Oh no, now it’s on: It’s a catfight, with hair-pulling and screaming. A crowd surrounds them, filming and snapping photos (not good!), shocked that a guy is beating on a girl.

Yo-na gets out of Ri-jin’s grip and runs for it — thwack into a post.

On a subway station bench, Do-hyun comes to. With tissue-plugs in their noses, he struggles with the hair clip while she explains the situation. The car got towed, it was cold, she couldn’t take him to hospital…so here they are. He apologizes, the weight of the world back on his shoulders.

Ri-jin asks what his extreme suffering was that brought Yo-na out. Was it something Ri-on said? Or Chae-yeon? But then she cancels her questions, since they’re not friends, and he doesn’t answer them anyway — she’ll settle for being rich. Or asking Se-gi, because at least he talks to her, “Although the problem is that he says what he wants.”

She’s ready to go, but he catches her arm. Sitting back down, he hesitantly asks if she wants to go for a drink, and reminds her of her offer to be his drinking friend. She replies that he doesn’t like drinking or friends. Still faltering, he says they could start those counseling sessions.

Ri-jin is impressed by how much alcohol Do-hyun can put away for someone who doesn’t drink, but figures that Se-gi and Perry must have done his body’s share. He tells her they’re in session and she can ask him questions — but first he apologizes for the night before. That friend, Chae-yeon, was his cousin’s fiancée, and he confirms she was his first love. But when he found out she was being nice to him in order to get closer to Ki-joon, he was hurt, and moved on.

Ri-jin observes that he didn’t look like he was over it. But he explains that he’s never taken anyone into his heart since his diagnosis, afraid of putting them in danger. But when he sees Chae-yeon, he remembers the time when he was able to love someone freely — maybe it’s really the freedom to love that he loves. That actually explains a lot. He asks if that answers her question. Ri-jin: “I…didn’t ask.” HA. Way to undercut the deep moment, lol.

Do-hyun marks that they’re halfway through their session, but Ri-jin objects — that was just a conversation, not a consultation. If he wants counselling, they can start now.

He reaches for her wrist and, tapping her watch, tells her to take note. “January 29, 2015,” he notes as he waits for it to strike the hour exactly. “10 o’clock. First consultation… commence.”

The echo of Se-gi is not lost on Ri-jin. “Shin Se-gi?” she asks him. His exasperation is never going to get old: “I’m Cha Do-hyun!” He wonders if she’s secretly hoping for Se-gi to appear, and she teases him for being all jealous of himself. Flustered, he denies it.

They walk home, and Do-hyun asks her why she stayed by his side. “Was it pity? Or so you could meet Se-gi through me?” She thinks about it, and gives two reasons. Firstly, Yo-sub. His “Kill me” message seemed to her like a call for help. Secondly, Do-hyun himself. When he told her he wouldn’t return the ball that went over his castle walls, it made her realize how much he needed her.

He asks if she isn’t afraid of all the people living inside him. She’s not — she wants to be close with all of them, and she has things to say to them. “From now on, instead of ‘kill me,’ ask, ‘heal me,'” she tells him.

Being healed doesn’t mean they’ll die, she says. Rather, they’ll carry on living in him — she points to his heart. But instead of being scattered fragments, they’ll be a connected puzzle, fitting together to make a wonderful picture. “With the name of Cha Do-hyun, you guys will become an even more wonderful person,” she finishes.

He stares at her, heart in his eyes. Clasping the hand she’s pointing at him, he leans in and kisses her. When he pulls back, she searches his eyes. He smiles at her and says unasked, “I’m Cha Do-hyun.”

He draws her close again, this time slow and deliberate. She closes her eyes — and Se-gi’s threats about messing with his woman rise in Do-hyun’s mind. He pauses, but looking into Ri-jin’s eyes, he kisses her again anyway.

COMMENTS

Aww. That happened sooner than I thought it would. I expected him to hamstring himself a least a little longer with his belief that he can ration and measure the exact distance at which he can keep her. But maybe that’s why it happened — the case against that belief has been building all episode. When she sees him at his most vulnerable and most raw, how can he expect to maintain and manage that distance?

I don’t think for a moment that he couldn’t help himself: Wanting to kiss her was spontaneous, but actually kissing her was intentional. But whether he means to follow through, that’s a different subject. Is a kiss just a kiss, or is it more? We can see that Do-hyun is no flip-flop. He’s resolute, and hasn’t budged on Chae-yeon — not just recently, but ever since he first gave up his feelings. The same determination drives his dealings with Ri-jin, but whether that will hold when it comes to kisses…we’ll have to see.

Their subway conversation was poignant and intense because it’s so clear how much it costs him to let Ri-jin be that close — that moment when his reality settled in, followed by his feelings of shame and helplessness. I can understand why he wants to draw that line between himself and Ri-jin, and why his willingness to let her in as a doctor isn’t followed by letting her in as a friend, even if the former is in some senses more intimate.

But also, it was the point where he decided there was nothing left to hide from this person who looked at him like a friend, even after seeing his demons. It’s beautiful not just because it mirrors what happens in any normal relationship — that point where maintaining an ideal image of yourself is not only futile, but also holds back the relationship — but because for him it also comes at such a greater cost and serious consequences.

Although Do-hyun gives us the most to talk about, Ri-jin’s character also deserves credit. She’s fun and real, and offsets his seriousness. I don’t think he likes her because she “challenges” him — this show is too trope-savvy for that — but with her ability to sympathize and also practically manage a situation, she creates an avenue for him to escape his castle. Because although his fortress keeps people out, its primary purpose is to keep himself in.

The best thing about this whole episode is Do-hyun’s assertion of his identity. While comical, it also marks an important shift in his character, and works at multiple levels. He is literally more assertive, which is what makes them question who he is. Hotter emotions closer to the surface made him lose composure so many times this hour, and that is an EXCELLENT development. In my head, I imagine that he’s pulling that assertiveness from Se-gi, and the more heat he taps, the more wind he takes out of Se-gi’s sails. I actually sort of miss Se-gi — by being more like him, does Do-hyun mitigate his outings? At the least, it has to be a good foundation for integrating their identities. I wonder if his rigid self-control perpetuates his problem: Because he forbids himself from properly experiencing his feelings, they internalize and feed the likelihood of raising his alters.

Speaking of which — Yo-na was worth the wait! Much of the humor in this show lies in incongruities, and Yo-na brings them all out, while also giving a nod to the more abstract questions of identity versus appearance. The way we were shown Yo-na alternately as the outward person everyone else saw (Do-hyun in his suit), against how she sees herself (lipstick and pink uniform), was both funny and effective because it was jolting. It takes a little mental work to see the teenage girl under the ajusshi crust, but ultimately, you could buy it when it’s played against her self-awareness.

This hour reveals some important pieces of the mystery, although not one of them adds up — I do expect it to add up, but right now, they are more puzzling than illuminating. For example, I reckon it’s purposely ambiguous which twin is the lost chaebol child. Does Ri-on have all the memories? I’m certain he has an actual motive in telling Do-hyun the basement-children story, and I don’t think he has it in for him (he took him to his parents and introduced him to his sister!). We don’t even know if he’s a reliable narrator — after all, he makes up stories for a living. However, whatever happened in the past, all three of them are victims. That much is clear. I wish we actually got more Ri-on, he’s such a hoot. And I take back what I said about his and Ri-jin’s unsiblingly chemistry — I think they are fabulous as siblings. Forget biology.

I really really love this drama :)

My favorite this year :)

JS and HJE's chemistry is off-the-charts!

I still can't get over the last scene. I really didn't expect that :)

Looking forward to see Nana and Mr. X in the future episodes.

The ending scene was so familiar looking - you know, kiss at night, with a lit structure in the background - much like their first (?) kiss in the carriage a few episodes ago. Wonder why that is.... like what significance is (night + twinkly lights in background + kisses)

I'm not sure about the twinkly lights, but I feel like that giant statue with two people from opposite sides of a mirror(?) holds more importance. Connecting with your inner self for Do Hyun maybe?

Now that you mention the background, I was reading this other recap in some site and they mentioned how the giant lit snowmen looked like Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters, now every time I see that scene, I can't stop laughing. Also, the structure with two men facing each other as if mirror image, it felt like the writers and directors intentionally are trying to hint at the war that is about to start between Se-Gi and Do-Hyun over Ri-Jin. The whole team is doing a great job.

Pfft. Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. I think I'll end up staring at the snowman and comparing it with Stay Puft every time I rewatch/see clips and GIFs of that scene. XD

I feel the same way too about that giant statue, whether its the beginning of reconciliation or war between the personalities, cant wait to know what its all about, and its still 12 episodes left...long waaaay to go...and anything can happen....*tears

I'm emotionally ready for the roller-coaster emotional ride and may the writer continue giving us a great episode each time. Just don't make DH and RJ siblings and I'll be alright. Or else, I might end up crazier than all of DH's personalities combined.lol

0

at the end of this drama I guess we are all gonna be crazier somehow...LOL...welcome to the crazy, madly but happy club ^__^

0

yeah that giant statue was pretty symbolic like you said it could be se gi and Do Hyun starting reconcile or the total opposite.

@cyril i know i foresee a really crazy emotional journey till the end, im ready with my tissue box, lol i doubt the writer would make them sibling aint no body that crazy. im already feeling sad at the thought of this drama ending

Oh doy!

Totally obvious big alert that I forgot as I was looking at the screencap. Yes, episode ended as it panned up/out to show the big lit structure - which was pretty blatant duality/interaction thing....

I agree with Do Hyun that Yo Na is the most dangerous personality. Remembered what Se Gi had done on Do Hyun's arm, ok, I can tolerate it.

But I hope Yo Na doesn't manage to get the plastic surgery,, b'coz if Do Hyun wakes up in the middle of surgery... errrr... I think it would be the most horror drama ever. :D

Me too, I don't think do hyun will do that. He already started to open up to ri Jin, and I believed that when he hears se gis warning in his mind, he's probably thinking "she's also my woman". Can't hurt the woman "we" both like, can we?

I agree that Yo Na is the most dangerous.

Imagine...
Hair extensions, waxing, mani/pedi, shopping for clothes.... If she was doing any of these things and he returned in the middle.....

I think she's dangerous because she's the most public so far. they haven't touched on how they're going to deal with all the videos taken right? did i miss anything here? when Do Hyun thanked Ri Jin at the subway station for being someone who could keep him in check and keep things secret, I was about to burst out laughing at how that was far from the truth based on how Ri Jin just handled his situation.

I was kind of confused by the plastic surgery comment to be honest. I mean they're showing scenes with her as she thinks she is - cute outfit and makeup, etc. So why doesn't she see her own face? Even when suicidal boy painted them all, they had completely different faces because they should see themselves differently. She should see Do Hyun's face when she looks in the mirror.

This show is so powerful and I love every character portraited by everybody~

Damn good! Ji Sung wow me in this drama with his acting skills. Omg! Am I the only one noticing he looks more handsome in this drama than the other dramas? *drooling*

Is it some special ampoules or cc cream? LOL!!!

0

Hahah! LOL! I guess I'm not the only one too!

@eileen: it could be the filter used in cameras or they change the tones (more technical stuff I think) after they filmed the scenes. Or maybe it's the angle used by the PD to film them. somehow I always notice MBC's camera always very bright in colors and have this moody tone on the screen.

that "I'm Cha Do Hyun" line was killin' me whoa ♥*♥

0

oh i love both the kisses from secret, my fav of course is that last one, good lord that kiss was everything i always hope a kiss would be between 2 people who love each other .

yeah i feel like we will be seeing everything we wanted to see in secret between these two here, even though secret did offer up lots of things to, that was a very intense and melo so its awesome to get rom com with ji sung and jung eum and all the cuteness, and flirting and of course intense emotions as well.

@lara4liwa totally, i loved the way he loved her, what girl wouldnt want a guy be loved so much like that and the way he would look at her *swoons*

I LOVED THIS EPISODE.

and Apsala was back! You die, I die....

Everything was brilliant, from Ri On´s guessing game with the secretary and Do Hyun to Yo Na omg when Ki Joon and granny see these photos he is gonna get it, but at least he wasn´t REALLY in a pink uniform. though I don´t know how much difference it makes. I want to collect all those damn phones, seriously, modern people don´t have any respect towards other people. I mean, DH is a stranger to them, cant they think before they take pictures that might ruin his life. but then, tehy dont know the harm it might do. but then, when has anything good ever come out of pictures taken without permission?

to be honest, this time it was the stereotypical teenage girl, with pink and oppas and stuff but they are so not ALL like that. But I guess Yo Na HAS to be a stereotypical opposite of Yo Sub (I wonder if there is any twin bickering, and if it means DH has a twin in real life....

But I think I would not say she is a manager of SUFFERING, I guess it would be more accurate to call her a manager of STRESS, even just to differenciate her from Se Gi. Se Gi manages physical suffering, fear and danger, Yo Na the mentally straining and fearful situations, like the fear of being exposed to the family as a "psycho". So "suffering" is a little misleading. Stress would be more accurate, IMPO

so I am still not making much sense can you blame me. Yo Na has to be this carefree, stress-free, "my only worry is a pimple!" which is forgotten in 2 seconds as well kinda person while Yo Sub carries the weight of the world and Do Hyun was, in the start, a person who was afraid to feel anything. I guess he is learning to express both negative and positive feelings now, showing a bit of every personality in himself

to be fair all his alters are not 'full' people per se, they each only contain a facet of his personality so i guess it would follow that each of their 'personality' would be quite extreme/stereotypical as they don't have the full spectrum of emotions and reasoning to balance out their tendencies. idk if i'm making sense here haha

The Healer Hospital takes all patients! They only demand your heart in payment, and you can pay in twice-weekly instalments. But they're also only open one more week :(

After that, the only place you'll have any luck is the Yo-na Sasaeng Hospital for Swooning Women (they're all mad there), but they have a waiting list longer than Lee Jong-seok's unecessarily long leg.

Such is the life of a fangirl.

AHN YONA IS FREAKIN AMAZING !!!
Seriously, Ji Sung for the real. THANK GOD THAT ACTORS BEFORE HIM REJECTED IT ! Sorry for the caps, I can't keep my happiness !! I love this show so muuuuc.
I gotta say that during Ahn Yona scenes, the chemistry between Hwang Jung Eum and him were great. Not chemistry as romance but like synergy between characters. Like, has it be another actress, I don't think it would have worked that well. Those two need to get paired for whatever KDramas. And seeing how KMLM is a success, I am pretty sure that tons of PDs are going to flood them with scripts, haha.

lol oh i hope so, what are the chances they get paired up again, the secret couple. i read some people saying JS and HJE are like a brand now put them in a drama and success haha. honestly we are lucky to get these two in a melo romance which was addictive as hell and the chemistry was amazing as well as the romance and a rom com, a unique one at that which has been awesome from the get go, chemistry and all. we get the best of both worlds in two awesome dramas, if they ever get together again in another drama that would be amazing.

i really love this episode.. well this whole series actually. it was a sweet surprise from a drama that was deemed to become a "train-wreck" at first.

when i was just thinking if i would watch this show at first, i tried watching an episode and skipped into the parts that would get my attention.. and what do you know.. Perry Park got me at the end part of episode 2. :D it wowed me how Ji Sung got a grasp of this role immediately within just seconds, i guess. well he IS an actor but not all actors can pull something like this off. Ji Sung is amazing and he leaves me anticipating what his other identities would be like. so far there's Shin SeGi and his hot guyliner, ajusshi Perry Park, Ahn Yo Sub and his suicidal tendencies, and now there's pretty Ahn Yo Na and her fan girling. this drama is so fun to watch, can't wait for the next episodes and the next identities to appear. bring it on, Show! :D

KMHM has been such a great drama thus far. Each scene was not wasted to make a connection elsewhere. I really liked how it all tied in. The scene where they were in the basement and she was pointing at him, which made him pull her in for an almost kiss, was rewarded this time around, where he followed through. It's like, he wasn't sure at first (as he kept questioning himself that episode) and now he was . Also, for the first 5-6 episodes he kept remembering Ri-jin's words (what's your name?) and now he is assertive and claims his name. It's weird because Ri-on is supposedly the second lead, but I think he's become more like a third lead cos Do Hyun and Se-gi has taken one and two. Is it still second-lead-syndrome when it's played by the same person? XD

HJE's portrayal of Ri Jin though loud, sometimes obnoxious but overall grounded in reality has had me from day one. She has made me laugh so much throughout this series with her contorted faces and screeching (annoying at times). So glad this show introduced me to her and I will seek out her other dramas.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, JS can act! He transitions from one personality to another so effortlessly. The only other show I watched of his is "Protect the Boss" and I really liked him in that, too.

Love the point that CDH keeps reaffirming his name. It is funny. It is poignant. It is reassuring. It works on so many levels.

The YN scenes weren't just funny, they were funny 30X after watching the first time. It just kept coming at us, I had to stop to breathe a little. The cat-fight - look at JS and HJE expressions - they are SOOOO into it. It was perfect.

And the kiss, with the challenge to SG, THAT was awesome.

honestly i really really really love this drama. its just its so amazing like you said it grounds itself in its own reality, its comical but has depth and complexity and takes the struggle of do hyun seriously. and i love how ri jin is actually very smart, understanding and sympathetic. she is doing exactly what she is supposed to be doing and everyone hoped for, to help piece himself together and make a bigger picture also she has so much agency and she is a no nonsense person when it comes to do hyun. that just makes me so happy, its like yessssss.

another thing i was researching DID and came across a person who has experience in the field of psych and pretty much helps me confirm that this show has done its research and has incorporated the psych aspect really well. im just really impressed cause one story i read was of a women named ruth dee with 9 alts and her story echoed that of whats been shown in KMHM and i was like wow.

also the kiss my jaw legit dropped, i wasnt expecting it, well ind off, it was a surprise but given everything leading up to it and that whole convo, i could feel what do hyun must have been feeling that led him to kiss her, like i got it and i loved it, he took charge yaya.

also whats awesome is, is that we are given clues but like you said cant piece the together, which i am happy with it, all the more fun cause it makes it more unpredictable and more of a twist. also loving ri on.

this ep was seriously hilarious, i love ri jin and do hyun relationship and the chemistry is off the charts with ji sung and jung eum its ridiculous. ji sung by the way nailed yo na, my god his acting skills are great. anyways i loved the ep and i love you recaps/review cause you really have wonderful insight. cant wait to read this weeks.

I like what you said about DH showing his real personality this episode. With his guard down, DH is an assertive, charming and cool guy. That's pretty hot. I think you're right in saying that the more he expresses himself, the more he "diffuses" the other personalities.
As much as I want DH to be whole, I'm glad this process will take a while cause im loving the other personalities. Yo na was a hoot! I almost peed my pants watching her.

The ending scene was soooooooooo romantic for me :)
The way DH still kissed her despite Se Gi's warning, I was amazed by his bravery.Later, it'll be no surprise for me if ever SSG is the first one of the alters to be overtaken by DH.

"A show that haunts your mind by making you think of what really happened back then than just laying down the information " You are so right! What irritated me slightly about Pinocchio was the fact that we all knew exactly what had happened and having flashback after flashback to the same moment in time wasn't helping. Here, there's just so much delicious speculation that I'm hooked (due that's 99% due to Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum's utter perfection, and the goofy babe that's Park Seo Joon). I wonder though, whether raising expectations for just what happened all those years ago is a wise idea. 'Cause if things don't pay off, then quite a few viewers will be disappointed. I'm expecting great stuff from this show though, and it's far from the hot mess I though it was when casting rumours first came out. I'm so so glad that Lee Seung Gi and Hyun Bin turned it down so I could fall in love with these two!

@ aria i love the thread as well it s so much fun and it is super fast. your totally right, im glad they havent given everything away, it really makes you think so many theories that could be possible and its fun cause you have no idea

@shalimi, i actually havent seen pinocchio but i usually like things to be more of a secret thats revealed slowly, much more fun for me. im sure the reveal will be good, i mean the trauma that DH went through has to be pretty bad for him to get DID. im totally ready for what they throw at us. im sure im gonna cry

And I love that Ri-jin looked like she wanted the kiss to happen - both this time (her soft, wide-eyed expression killed me a little) and the last time, when Do-hyun wanted to "confirm" something in the basement and she yelled at him to finish what he started. Thank god for a heroine who is at least allowed to acknowledge the existence of attraction instead of pretending she's some frozen nun who would never dream of wanting a kiss, ha.

Not sure if it's a plot hole or not, but isnt Ri On supposed to know about Do Hyun's DID, or at least suspects that something is going on in Do Hyun? He had a full wall of research materials about Seung Jin Group, including a picture of Do Hyun playing football in his US days. Sure when Ri On met Perry he will notice that Perry and Do Hyun looks awfully alike to be two different persons.

Ri On surely knows about Do Hyun's DID because that's the main reason he followed DH in the states.

RO is the most mysterious of all the characters and based from the characters description in the MBC website, it was written on him that although he had placed RJ in his heart a long time ago, "His gaze will start to falter when RJ start to focus on one man."

We don't know where his character is gonna go but I think It will be darker judging from the change of hairstyle on the preview of Episode 9.

I am curious about his motive. It doesnt seems like he is researching Ri Jin's birth family background just out of his brotherly love - he seems to hold a personal grudge against Do Hyun and the chaebol family. And to think that all these while he just acts along with DH while (probably) purposely evokes DH's memory...He sure has a not-so-simple motivation.

Required fields are marked *

from what I read somewhere is that he decided to know about the lost memories Ri Jin had and what triggered them not to be remembered hence him being a writer and searching about DH.

Maybe he already know the reason with the relationship with DH and RJ in the past or he really just wanted him to remember the past that bad.

I still think that whatever decision he makes, RJ will always be a first priority.

Now, I think eventhough RO has some answers to the questions, one thing is still remain unanswered. And that is "WHO?" (The one behind the mysterious accidents which maybe only DH knows thats why RO is trying to make him remember).

It's not a plot hole, he most probably just pretends to not know. If he shows that he actually knows in front of Do Hyun it'd even more weirder right? Since he's supposed to research about Do Hyun silently. He acts like he doesn't know so that he can approach Do Hyun carefully. Who knows, maybe going to America and being in the same flight with CDH is part of Ri On plan too

he knows but he try to act like he doesn't or at least he suspected it, he knows his family background, knew perry park, has knowledge about D.I.D (he stated about having 3 personality for himself and his sister is psychiatris),

like his career in writing, the editor said he continue write an old novel and go to America to research the material for that novel, but he can't find something more
he also said that he will continue that in early episode because something just happen, and that novel maybe the one when he narrate Ri-jin decision to Johns Hopkins

Lol the way lil' Ri-jin launched at lil' Ri-on tho (is it bad that i was like "Oh yeah!! u go little girl) I love that she's always been feisty and doesn't take crap from anyone..

Ji-Sung is one hell of amazing actor. How he portrays each personality is just mind-blowing. Has anyone noticed how the look in his eyes is always different in each personalities?

I wonder what Se-gi is going to do when he finds out that his woman is also Do-hyun's (well technically they are the same person. lol this is confusing) but its not like he can do anything to her considering its HER!!!. Lol am not making much sense here.

And i can't wait to see Ri-Jin interact with Perry Park, i wonder how they going to react to each other.. HEEE!!! so many scenarios going through my mind now.

Thank you for the great recap :)

I am weirdly stressed out about all the photographic and video evidence of their very public fight in front of the idols. I have no idea how one would be able to suppress all that, short of taking every girl's phone and deleting it personally. I hope this doesn't come back to haunt them, especially when I feel like they already have so much on their plate already with juggling all these personalities and hiding it from his family.

From what I know, South Korea has very strict privacy laws when it comes to people who are not celebrities or public figures - their faces are not supposed to be shown on any news outlets (including online ones) and are usually blurred out. And even idol fans often blur non-celebrity faces out of pictures, to protect the privacy of the individuals involved.

Hopefully Yo-na's outburst isn't going to lead to Do-hyun's face being revealed.

I can explain away the phone-videos as "drunk in the daytime" or "a crazy couple fighting." I'm way more concerned about what might happen when one of the personalities comes out in the office/in front of grandma or Ki-joon's family/ or board meeting.. that would be hard to explain away + impossible to supply with "he was drunk" especially at this important meeting or place or people thing.... you know?
There was already a close call in ep 3 or so when Do-hyun was late to the meeting because of Perry Park.

Yeah, if that happened, it would be a way worse situation!

However, since he seems to be aware when a personality is coming on (via his choking and heart attack-like acting) and the constant survellaince of his secretary and now a live-in doctor, I am hoping he would be able to be whisked away to a safe room before another personality emerges. While it may seem unprofessional to cut out on meetings, if he is obviously in physical distress, I think (I hope) the other people will cut him some slack.

Thanks for the recap, I patiently waited around for this recap to come, its nice to hear thoughts about your current K-drama unhealthy obsession here in this site. Coming to the episode, it was so good. Ji Sung, just give him his that Daesang already, no actually give him 7 for all the 7 characters because he deserves them and has rightfully earned them. It takes a certain amount confidence on your abilities and a whole lot of talent to portray the roles the way he is doing it here. Hwang Jung-Eum is matching his steps and these two, their chemistry and the fact that they get along so well together is just evident in each scene they share. I absolutely love the confidence and hidden emotions that Do-Hyun lets flow freely around Ri-Jin. All throughout the episode, his character shows a lot of change and in my eyes growth already. He doesn't want to let go of Ri-Jin and he actually is getting more and more comfortable showing his emotions instead of keeping them under lock and key. Ri-Jin is also a strong character, she is not afraid to stick around knowing full well the dangers that lie ahead and also she is a damn good doctor. And that kiss at the end. For me the highlight isn't that that Do-Hyun kissed her(He already loves her and just doesn't fully acknowledge or realize that yet and we viewers know that already) but the fact that he knew Se-gi won't like it yet he opened up his heart a little and took a chance. That spoke volume about how far our OTP and Do-Hyun has come.

I think all chingu here already mention all the great things
but I just keep laugh when remembering how Ri-On's dad amaze on his "girl" picture that lied on floor, that totally natural observation for that thing

and like everybody else, I need more Se-gi to appear because we need him to show what he can or want to do and what he hides from Do-hyun, Se-gi need to understand himself too and try to understand do-hyun as friend

I hope Ri-On also will have big part on revealing the mystery (in a best way, he can be more dark but still on good purpose) and I actually feel great when they give clue on narrative since all the cue is complicated and confusing

Ahn-Yoona maybe not your ideal teenage girl but she is total opposite of Yo-Sub, she shows how she need to live to the fullest for happiness (get a girl face or meeting her fave artist), telling how ri-jin is noisy, just like every woman would say in a time to her

The kiss in the end is totally steal the moment because it just look and feel so sincere, (try to top that Se-gi! you can do it!)

and for Ri-Jin, she is a girl with words, I mean she shows her best and he compliment every scene, she is so supported and she told him the right thing, she is being useful (that's the only word I can think of), she's there and she is being a great companion

the other small moment but great for me is ri-jin avoid the slap and do-hyun get it
i mean, slap is dangerous, we should try to avoid it,
I mean all kdama people, it is really hurt, try to avoid a slap,

yeah, like I said yesterday, I'm well and truly caught. Hook, line and sinker.

I'm not under any illusions that KMHM is flawless - the chaebol plotting is a big meh and it sucks that Oh Min-seok and Kim Yuri get hardly anything to do when I know they can do better (Misaeng/Master's Sun).

But what really makes this drama is the growing connection between Ri-jin and all of Do-hyun's personalities. I'm in awe of Ji Sung for not just managing to make them all seem like fully realised and distinct people, but doing it in such incredible style.

And hats off to Hwang Jung-eum for actually backing that up - we've all noted how great their romantic chemistry is, but find it incredibly impressive that when Yo-seob, Perry and now Yo-na appear, that chemistry goes from sparks sizzling everywhere to plain old friendship, concern or worry - no romance at all. It's quite the feat, to be able to turn it off like that at will. I'm impressed by the way both of them have committed to their roles and set aside actorly vanity, when needed. (and Yo-na is a hoot. No wonder sweet, sober Do-hyun thinks she's the most dangerous of his personalities - she is, in a way. The others may scare him, but she causes a much more common human affliction - embarrassment!).

And that ending kiss - so much to analyse there! I think it's worth noting that in his entire life, Ri-jin is the first person to indicate to him that she thinks of his alter egos as more than just inconveniences to his daily life. Which is probably a novel way of looking at things, from his point of view even he likely isn't used to thinking of the alter egos as anything else since in his eyes they make him a 'monster'.

Do-hyun's healing is never going to happen without a certain acceptance of the alter egos on his part, and like you guys pointed out, his rigidly compartmentalising his feelings might be exacerbating his problem - but we see him starting to be assertive and even playful here, which are traits we'd associate with Se-gi and Perry, while still remaining very much himself. And that last kiss was totally deliberate, which feels like he's doing it despite the knowledge of what Se-gi threatened him with. (also, Se-gi is hot with the guyliner, but Do-hyun's sweetness and developing genuine friendship with Ri-jin is just getting to me - it really felt like a comforting kind of relationship before it started feeling romantic)

Also, I now think Ji Sung and Hwang Jung-eum deserve the title of the Mr and Ms Fixit of kdramas - this is the second drama they've done together that, before airing, looked like it would be a forgettable mess, but turns out to be crazily addictive and actually good.

(I remember being so 'meh, whatever.' on Secret and also on KMHM when I first heard its concept, but both times I was wrong!)

I am so in love with this show! I honestly lack the words to express just how addicting it is, and how much I adore all these characters. Hwang Jung Eum continues to delight with the sort of characters she plays and Ji Sung is one HELL of a talented actor to be able to pull off seven personalities so seamlessly while integrating them into the wonderful whole that is Cha Do Hyun, gentle, controlled, and as Saya says, with the weight of the world upon his shoulders. Yo Na is every fangirl who's ever existed, and I love how accurately (and hilariously) he brought that to life.
Don't even get me started on that kiss *swoon*
The preview for ep 9 shows Dr. Seok exclaiming incredulously upon hearing that all seven of Do Hyun's personalities came out within the span of a day, meaning that we get to see Se Gi's reaction to the kiss. Which is greater because I seriously missed the charismatic, guyliner-wearing, sexy drawling man-boy that is Shin Se Gi.
Mr. X also has be curious, I can't imagine what facet of personality they've left unexplored. The fellow doesn't appear to talk, so could he be the one repressing Do Hyun's memories?
And as for Nana, "Peace!"
I'm dead.

Thank you for recapping!

Random thoughts - the editing was soooo dragging this episode. He kept repeating "I am Cha Do-hyun." After the third time in a row in the first 5-8 minutes, I was like "I GET IT". But your comment about it being his assertion of identity - ok, it has more meaning & relevance than lazy time-draggy-out editing.

I love that Yo-na cleared up how they saw themselves & how it looked to everyone else (the pink uniform vs man in suit). At first I was like "Ridiculous costume change! ahahahah! Instantly in makeup? Where did she find the time?!" but soon it was made clear that it was just her perception vs the other people who saw things 'as they are.'

Yo-na and Do-hyun mutual dislike of each other is perfect! Just what a respectable adult vs teen queen-ka attitude would be! It's not antagonistic like Se-gi vs Do-hyun, but just ...like fully formed separate people - one who dislikes the crazy fan behavior and one who dislikes looking like an old ajusshi! (but he's so good looking! you've got a lot to work with, Yo-na! Be happy!)_

Lastly - that cafe with the indoor cherry blossom tree--- it looks like the one from Heart 2 Heart. I was watching over the weekend and was like Dejavu! or Super popular PPL or something o__o

KMHM is so entertaining and JiSung is killing it!
The multiple personalities are so relatable in the sense most of us have a little of it in us . The personalities are portrayed to the extreme for effects in the drama. Sometimes we are mean like Segi, we enjoy life like Perry Park, we fangirl like Yona, we feel depressed like YoSub,etc....
It will be interesting to see how the writer deals with treating it or will it be something CDH will have to manage for the rest of his life.

This may be really far fetched, but my thinking is Ri-On is Do hyun's relation, but instead of half brother could his grandfather have been Ri-On's dad with the wife of Do hun's father. (Meaning she slept with her father in law and had Ri -On). (ICK)

Why did my mind go that way?
1. Well, it's not logical that Chairwoman Grandmother is not at all interested in finding the second child because she has an illegitimate grandson in Do Hyun. Also, she 's not concerned with anything but saving her comatose son's seat.
2. Do Hyun's mom seems to know something about a second child.
3. Why would a legitimate heir not be know by all even if he was born after Do Hyun?

I would love to know if someone else has a better idea because I think I've read to many twisted novels. Kind of like Ri On.

hmm... I hope I don't spoil the story for you.
1 & 3.

To be honest, I think Do Hyun is the illegitimate kid (not grandson, technically stepmother) And Ri On is actually the true 3rd generation chaebol. So she might thought that her grandson is dead during the fire and now she have to suck her thumb and make sure her son wakes up to take the seat. This probably explain why she is so cold towards Do Hyun.

2. Do Hyun’s mom seems to know something about a second child.

and yes, I think she knew about it but she does not have much details yet.

Okay I didn't read properly your comment but you get the vague idea that I still think that Ri On is the 3rd generation chaebol instead of Do Hyun with the same reasons above.

To add on, I think Ri On thinks he is the illegitimate kid because he is also in the fire and he never regain his memories. So his induction about it should be in the wrong direction, that he supposed to be the child that should never be named, (LOL). This probably will explain why he act like a snob when he first met his sister. And I guess that is the plot twist for him?

You think Do Hyun is a step brother? Hmm.... that's a good idea. So not related to the chaebol family at all. So perhaps his mom put Ri On up for adoption or something when everyone thought he was really dead. Perhaps Do Hyun's mom took advantage of the fire, I don't believe she's capable of setting it up and the car accident was just a freak accident. (Could such a thing really exist in kdramaland!?) Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better. My mind just kinda kinked on the relations and I couldn't unkink it. (That just sounds weird.)

Actually I think it should be grandpa putting him up for adoption. You know, to protect Do Hyun (his son) from his family. Using Ri On as his last card but he didn't expect that he will die? I think the car accident was planned by Grandma because she hates her daughter in law and her husband (since I already assumed that Do Hyun is the illegitimate son).

Lol! You are welcome!! I also trying to figure out wither Ri on is the child or actually Ri Jin is the child. But I think it should be a son since no one question Do Hyun'd identity. (LOL super linked to DID theme also.)

Thank you for the recap! I appreciate your thoughts and think they're very warm and insightful. I'm really, really loving this show and I continue to enjoy how well they balance the gravity of his situation with humour. The Yona outing was hilarious and ridiculous but it worked to get DoHyun to truly open up to RiJin. It's true that we're seeing DoHyun pull from his other personalities, namely Segi more and I think that's a good thing because hopefully it will help him start merging them instead of keeping them locked apart. I also am so impressed with JiSung. I've never seen him act before but he is really doing an amazing job portraying each alter as well as the depths of DoHyun - it's so impressive.

I continue to love the Oh family, including RiOn. I'm still very confused over the mystery but agree that all three children seem to have been affected by the same trauma, although it does make you wonder then what the original connection is between RiJin and RiOn if they aren't actual siblings.

ChaeYeon confuses me deeply. What does she want and why won't she go away and what is her narrative purpose in this story? I appreciate DoHyun saying that his crush on her reminds him of a time when he was freer though - that was very introspective.

Secretary Ahn is awesome, even if he does sort of work for Grandma. I love him.

Also, also, also it was really nice to see a kiss on a major network that is warm and sweet and not awkward and creepy. Granted the woman still doesn't get much to do but react but at least she doesn't seem totally paralyzed or traumatized like normal.

I really didn't expect there to be another kiss between them so soon and I think it's really interesting that they're having DoHyun expressing his feelings for her so soon, at least physically. Man, SeGi is going to be PISSED the next time he shows up.

Contrary to popular opinion, I don't think Se Gi is aware of what's going on with Do Hyun. He only knew about the first kiss because Se Gi lost consciousness and Do Hyun returned in the middle of that moment. I don't think any of the alters know what's happens outside of their moments of awareness. They learn about each other from context clues or information from outside parties, like Dr. Seok.

After lurking in the KMHM recaps for so long, I just couldn't hold it and finally started watching from this episode onwards. Ugh just so GOOD! The chemistry is off the charts, and Ji Sung, oh Ji Sung, you are just one fab actor.

Nana is just so adorable, like I know you guys were all raving about how good Ji Sung's acting is but honestly until you watch it, does it really hit you. Damn that transition was so smooth and epic.

I feel sorry for Chaeyeon, but that doesn't make her any better. At least she did put in effort to fight back against Ki-joon, I'd dislike her even more if she just accepted what Ki-joon proposed without an opinion on the matter.

Just wondering did Chaeyeon go out with Ki-joon just to get Do-hyun's attention or? I did like how Do-hyun talked about his view on his relationship with Chaeyeon, it's a nice subtle reflection that shows his growth compared to his past.

Another thing I realised is when Do-Hyun was gonna kiss Ri-jin again Se-Gi's words about hurting his woman flashed before him. I just find it funny if Segi's is gonna hurt Do-Hyun's woman, because then wouldn't he also be hurting his own crush?

Thanks for the recap!

I think at that time SG knows that DH likes CY but RJ hasn't entered DH's heart yet, so to SG, CY is DH's woman. But now that DH likes RJ, he ignores SG's threat coz they like the same woman now, so that's probably why he goes ahead with the kiss.

Ah yes that makes sense! But I bet Se-Gi won't be happy with his crush being shared haha

Well, Se-gi thinks that Chae-yeon is Do-hyun's woman. He's the one (I think) who stole her photo & she's the one he threatened in the video to Do-hyun in like episode 6?

So in Se-gi's understanding :
Se-gi + Ri-jin = tru luv 4eva
Do-hyun + Chae-yeon = first loves

EH Forgot to conclude:

So even if Do-hyun and Chae-yeon aren't together, Se-gi's misunderstanding may put Chae-yeon in danger or jeopardize Do-hyun's job/social circle.

In fact, I bet this is a future plot point for angst! (not a future-reader or spoiler, just guessing at how the story will play out)....

Now that you mention it, that could be a potential plot. But then if that's the case isn't it more Se-Gi hurting people whom DH cares about? I mean even if DH isn't into Chaeyeon anymore, he still cares about her to an extent.

Se-Gi could hurt Secretary Ahn and he'd still be hurting DH, though that would be a different type of pain.
