Healer: Episode 16

Is that the “oh shit” face you’re wearing right now? Because it’s mountain after mountain for our Healer, whose every step forward is dogged by setbacks that land him in some new kind of peril at every turn. On the upside, the Scooby gang is solidifying and gaining members, and I absolutely love that. On the downside, all that new peril I just mentioned.

EPISODE 16 RECAP

Young-shin gets picked up by Moon-shik, thinking he’s taking her to meet his wife for an interview. She seems uneasy, but there’s no reason for her to refuse, so off she goes.

Jung-hoo locates the home of an ex-detective, intent on tracking down what happened to his father’s missing police statement. The man seems locked inside his head as he plays cards alone, and his daughter explains that he doesn’t speak. Jung-hoo sits down anyway and tries to ask questions about the 1992 case.

He finally gets his attention by playing a turn in the card game, which gets a reaction from the ex-officer, and Jung-hoo presses him to talk about the old case. Particularly the statement he took from the suspect named Seo Joon-seok.

The officer repeats that name, then says that “we” had to quit the force because of him. The daughter confirms, remembering being evicted from home in 1992, and provides the name of the other officer who met a similar fate: Park Dong-chul.

Jung-hoo gives the name to Min-ja to track down. She grumps that she’s not a machine who just spits out answers, to which he retorts that she pretty much is. Then she spots something on her map that sets her on alert.

She calls Moon-ho just as he arrives at the newspaper and hears that Young-shin scored the interview with Myung-hee after all. Ajumma informs him that Young-shin’s cell phone is being tracked, and she’s just arrived “at a place I don’t much care for.” She decided against informing Jung-hoo first, predicting that he’d go charging in.

Moon-shik takes Young-shin to Jeil Newspaper, and his string of praise for her recent work is puzzling, since her recent work stained his name and all. She explains having an interview scheduled, but Moon-shik says that he has already informed his wife of its cancellation. Over at the house, Myung-hee prepares freshly baked cookies and deflates when her housekeeper gives her the message.

He asks Young-shin not to meet his wife just yet, and explains that he has heard that there are dangerous people in Young-shin’s orbit. Well technically that’s not a lie if he’s talking about himself, but he specifically drops the name Seo Jung-hoo. When she pretends not to understand, he muses that “maybe only Moon-ho knows the relationship.”

Moon-shik takes out that old photo and identifies himself and his wife, and watches her reaction carefully as he points out Seo Joon-seok. He also points to Teacher and says he recently died, which is enough for Young-shin to start connecting dots in her head, though she does a good job of keeping a poker face.

Moon-shik describes meeting Teacher recently, who’d said he’d turned Jung-hoo into the Healer. Teacher at least stopped at reasonable limits, but Jung-hoo, that kid… well, he’s “started to cross the line.”

Young-shin asks plainly what she’s doing here. Moon-shik replies that his brother has joined forces with the Healer to oppose him, and he’s been told that Young-shin is quite close with Moon-ho. So he asks for her help in stopping them, “before they commit even bigger crimes.”

He calls in a certain Manager Ahn to brief her, saying she has to know the full story in order to join their side. Manager Ahn handles special investigations for Jeil Newspaper and introduces her to the Healer investigation team, and while she doesn’t place a great deal of stock in their accounting of Healer’s crimes, for now she has to sit through it.

Moon-ho charges into his brother’s office and warns Moon-shik to mess with him, not the kids. Moon-shik replies that he’s going to help the kids: He’ll turn Young-shin into a good reporter, and get Jung-hoo a good lawyer so he can turn himself in and be reintroduced to society. He has the gall to say he’s doing it “because I am their fathers’ friend.” You mean like Teacher said before you had him killed?

It’s so absurd that Moon-ho can only laugh incredulously in his face.

Young-shin practically rolls her eyes while the Jeil team presents the Healer as a loose cannon and cold-blooded killer. She fidgets impatiently, knowing the full story, but her old panic response starts to kick in—her breathing grows labored and her vision blurs. Is it from seeing Jung-ho’s photograph on he board?

The Jeil team gets a phone call from the ex-officer’s daughter, reporting dutifully that somebody came by asking after Seo Joon-seok. As instructed, she supplied the name Park Dong-chul. The Jeil employee informs Manager Ahn that their bait was taken.

Young-shin approaches the board and reaches a shaking hand out to the (mostly obscured) photo of Jung-hoo. She’s still rattled when she leaves the meeting, which is when Moon-ho finds her.

As they head to the car, Young-shin fills Moon-ho in on what his brother said about Jung-hoo being the Healer and working against him. Moon-ho readily confirms that he’s working with Jung-hoo.

But the strange meeting has made her start questioning things that don’t make sense—like why such an important person as Moon-shik would personally come to give her a ride, and why Moon-ho would do the same. It’s suspicious enough that when he approaches, she involuntarily steps back. He clocks her reaction and stops, while she asks him about the piece of fingernail he hired Healer to take from her. Why?

Moon-ho sees that there’s no more delaying and says that the time has come to tell her. Without further ado, he reveals, “Your biological mother is alive.” Oh phew. I was so nervous that he’d find yet more excuses to prolong the discovery.

Her first reaction is to laugh, but it soon becomes clear that he’s not joking as he explains that Myung-hee is her birth mother. “And your name is Oh Ji-an.”

He apologizes for not saying so earlier, admitting, “I was afraid, so I kept pushing it back.”

Young-shin struggles to take this in, blinking back tears. When Moon-ho steps toward her, again she backs away instinctively.

Ajumma traces ex-cop Park Dong-chul to a seedy club, and the whole thing leaves both her and Jung-hoo with an uneasy feeling. She thinks it’s too easy, and while he agrees, he decides to see the lead through: “I’ll have to turn a trap into a road.”

Jung-hoo steps inside and asks for Park Dong-chul, which prompts the employee and the club manager to whisper and stare at Jung-hoo. She quietly makes a phone call and Jung-hoo is told to wait. This could not look more suspicious if they tried.

At home, Dad casts worried looks at Young-shin’s bedroom, not sure how to approach her. In the aftermath of all this news exploding in her face, she has retreated to a corner of her room, huddling under a curtain. She reaches for her phone.

Jung-hoo lounges around the club until two thugs arrive to take care of him. Before they can get down to it, Young-shin calls, and he carries on a normal conversation with her while taking down his two attackers, barely even paying them any heed.

At first he doesn’t catch on to her strange mood when she tells him of meeting Moon-shik, who knows he’s the Healer. But gradually he clues in that something’s wrong; her voice is dull and her gaze vacant as recounts Moon-shik’s warnings that Jung-hoo is dangerous.

Then she mentions hearing from Moon-ho about her birth mother, surprising Jung-hoo so much that a thug sneaks in a punch to the face. He tells her he’ll call back, then quickly takes down his attacker and demands Park Dong-chul’s information from the scared club manager.

Jung-hoo slips outside just before the thug’s reinforcements arrive. He sticks a tracker on the vehicle, then tells ajumma to find out who these guys are—they’re not Double S guards.

That question gets answered for us when Jeil’s Manager Ahn issues instructions to bring Jung-hoo in on the Elder’s orders.

When Jung-hoo returns Young-shin’s call, however, she ignores the phone. Slumping to the ground listlessly, she picks up a photo of herself as a child with her mother. In flashback, we see Moon-ho providing her with documents and an explanation:

In contrast with her current condition, Young-shin is brusque and calm as she listens to Moon-ho describe the accident in 1992. He hands over Myung-hee’s hospital records, which list epileptic fits, brain injury, and depression; stress is a particular trigger. Moon-ho describes possible further damage if the oxygen supply is cut off to her brain, or even death.

Despite improvements over the years, Myung-hee can’t control her reactions to mention of Ji-an: “Your death memorial and your birthday—it’s like she lives just for those two days a year.”

He asks if she remembers anything, but she says dully that the only childhood memories she has are of standing by the highway with cars whizzing by.

Moon-ho asks her to understand that he didn’t tell her because he wanted to keep her mother alive. She replies that it’s easy to understand that she can’t tell Myung-hee she’s her daughter, but asks why he didn’t at least tell her.

In the present, Dad enters Young-shin’s room and sees her lying on the ground, ignoring the phone. Locked in flashback, Young-shin asks Moon-ho why she was abandoned. He says she was lost, then supposedly dead. Then when he admits to preventing Jung-hoo from telling her, she says with a bitter smile, “He wasn’t on my side then, Seo Jung-hoo.”

He has more to explain, but she shuts him down here, saying she’ll handle it herself. “Because you can’t trust me?” he asks. She says yes, then tells him that her name is Chae Young-shin, not that other one.

Now in her bedroom, Young-shin seems like she’s ready to burrow into bed forever, brooding—until suddenly she’s not. She shakes her head clear, gets out of bed, and starts picking up the mess. Aw, she’s back. Way to go, you.

Then one document catches her eye, and the name crashes into her brain: Oh Gil-han. The friend killed by Jung-hoo’s father. She rears back in horror.

At the bustling Someday office, the constant ringing of the phone has Reporter Yeo so on edge that he hilariously snaps that Chae Young-shin has disappeared on her beleaguered team and probably got dumped. HA. But since it was Myung-hee calling, she hangs up in disappointment.

She calls Moon-ho to ask about Young-shin, wondering about the interview. Moon-ho tamps down his own emotion as he says that Young-shin is dealing with a difficult personal issue, so asking to meet her would be “cruel.” Myung-hee scoffs at his exaggeration, but she gets the point.

Jung-hoo charges into the cafe to see Young-shin, slipping past Dad when he tries to insist on a talk. Upon his entrance, Young-shin freezes up to see him, but he just envelops her in a relieved hug, saying he was worried. She starts to return the hug, but drops her hand at the last moment.

He picks up on her strange mood, asking if she’s upset because he didn’t tell her about her mother. When she shakes her head no, he encourages her to get angry with him. She says that he did nothing wrong, which isn’t convincing to his ears, and he asks why she won’t look at him.

Then she starts crying, and he looks for something to say, mentioning how Moon-ho’s not such a bad guy for accepting the beating he delivered for lying. When he says he met Myung-hee, she asks, “She met you, and she was okay?” It’s a weird thing to say, and now Jung-hoo is sure something’s up. Grabbing the papers from her, he sees her father’s name and realizes, “It was this? It was about my father and your father?”

He admits that he knew but couldn’t tell her, “Because I was afraid you’d be like this.” She says that it doesn’t matter, but he points out that her reaction says otherwise. And when he steps toward her, she backs away. Ah, that hurts. You can see that she’s conflicted with herself for reacting this way, but she can’t help it.

He steps back to give her space and explains that he was looking for evidence to clear his father of the crime, and that he was going to tell her after he’d found it. With that, he quietly exits.

But moments later, Young-shin flies downstairs to stop him before he leaves. She entreats, “You have to find it and come back.” Oh thank goodness she isn’t giving up so easily. He nods with a small smile, “Okay.”

And then she adds, “Even if you don’t find it, come back.” He agrees.

She promises to look for that evidence too, and tells him, “You’re not a bad person.” Full of emotion, they embrace, while Dad and ajusshi drop their utensils in shock.

Jung-hoo wipes her tears from her face and leaves, since they’ve got an audience and all… and then he turns back, Dads be damned, for that goodbye kiss.

That night, Manager Ahn’s minions follow ex-detective Park Dong-chul and slip a tracker on him. The club lady provided Jung-hoo with this address, so now they’ll wait for the “target” to show up.

Thus Jung-hoo’s arrival at the scene gets spotted by the team. Thankfully he notices them, and more thankfully still, they don’t notice that he noticed. He manages to whirl Park Dong-chul into an alley unseen, and when Ahn’s team follows his tracker, they’re just led to the other half of their team, and find the tracker stuck to their car. Outsmarted!

From hacker central, Min-ja mutters at their stupidity and starts singing “I Am the Best.” Yes, we know, ajumma.

Jung-hoo takes Park Dong-chul to an empty church, and the man has already guessed that he’s Seo Joon-seok’s son, because “they” warned him that he’d come. They offered payment in exchange for being alerted to Jung-hoo’s actions.

Park Dong-chul says that it was Jung-hoo’s father’s fault that his life went down the drain. Jung-hoo remarks that all he wants is his father’s statement, but it sure is curious how violently the opposition is reacting.

He explains how the statement went missing, so he decided to track down the man who took it: Park Dong-chul.

Park scoffs that finding the statement is pointless, because it was falsified from the start: The one Dad gave is not the one that got recorded. Park Dong-chul and his colleague reported the offense internally and suffered for it. And now, I suppose it’s easier for the man to blame the dead Seo Joon-seok rather than some nameless, faceless evil.

Jung-hoo asks what his father said in his statement, and whether he admitted to killing anybody. Park realizes, “You… really don’t know anything, do you?” So tell us!

Late at the office, Moon-ho finds a pleasant surprise when Young-shin drops by bearing snacks and smiles. She admits to being unable to stay angry for long, and has a lot of things to ask him.

She starts by asking if they knew each other when she was young. I love how happy he looks as he confirms how super-tight they were, and he tells her about the parents working together and being incredibly close. Young-shin asks if she knew Jung-hoo back then, and Moon-ho says that they cried every time they met. “Because we fought?” she asks. “No,” Moon-ho answers. “Because you didn’t want to split up.”

Young-shin laughs, and decides that Jung-hoo must’ve cried first. “It’d be nice if I remembered,” she says wistfully.

She laughs more when Moon-ho informs her that Jung-hoo’s her oppa—by one month. (LOL. This was briefly mentioned before, that Jung-hoo was born in December and Ji-an in January, so technically he was a “year” older and therefore oppa, since Koreans count their age by birth year.)

Then Moon-ho tells her that her birthday is tomorrow, for which Myung-hee’s probably already busily preparing a bunch of food (which explains all the cookies and cakes). It sparks an emotional response in Young-shin, to finally know when her birthday is. Then she mentions the bad blood between Moon-ho and his brother, and his mood grows heavy as she asks why.

Back to Jung-hoo. Park Dong-chul drops a bomb when he admits to safeguarding a tape recording of Dad’s statement all these twenty years—and he told the other guys about it too, angling for a price. Jung-hoo immediately quadruples the offer, desperate to have the tape.

Park senses the chance to wring even more money out of the deal and tries to play Jung-hoo against the Elder. Jung-hoo tries to impress upon him just how very much he does not want to mess around with these bad guys, who would think nothing of killing him for it.

Jung-hoo begs the man to take his money and hand over the tape, and to save his life in the process. But Park fishes around in his pocket for something…

Moon-shik checks on Myung-hee that night, tucking her into bed before heading to his office. He smiles down at a photograph of himself and Myung-hee, not noticing that there’s a tiny device mounted to the underside.

He answers a call from Manager Ahn, who reports that the target just now turned on the cell phone. Crap, that was the thing in the pocket, wasn’t it? But on the upside, Myung-hee is totally listening to the call—she must have planted that bug! Go you, awesome lady.

Myung-hee listens to her husband ordering Ahn to mobilize everyone: “If that kid is the Healer as I suspect, he’ll be particularly skilled.” Ahn asks for a list of priorities to dictate how they respond in a worst-case scenario: Is it more important to get Seo Joon-seok’s recorded statement, or to get rid of Jung-hoo?

Myung-hee contains her gasp of shock as Moon-shik replies that the Elder cannot have such a tape leaking. At least Jung-hoo’s hit takes the backseat for now.

Moon-ho and Young-shin are heading out when he receives a call from Myung-hee, who hurriedly tips him off about Jung-hoo being in danger.

As she and Moon-ho head out, Young-shin calls Jung-hoo right away, warning him of the situation and urging him to run. Ajumma’s linked in too, issuing directions to the church and planning to send police at the right moment.

Jung-hoo turns sharp eyes on Park Dong-chul, who realizes he’s been sniffed out and tries to run. Jung-hoo grabs him, and Park makes excuses about how he had to do this. Jung-hoo turns the phone off, cutting the tracking signal, but the henchmen are already on the way.

Desperate and feeling time slipping away, Jung-hoo says that his father’s tape is the most important thing. He tries to usher Park away for the time being, but the man resists, naively thinking of all the money that’s been promised him. Jung-hoo bursts out that those thugs aren’t going to let him live, but the man doesn’t see that.

So Jung-hoo begs for just one thing, needing confirmation that his father didn’t actually kill anybody. Park Dong-chul promises to tell him when the others arrive, just as the screech of tires sounds outside. As henchmen storm the church, Jung-hoo grabs Park whether he likes it or not and pulls him along.

But Jung-hoo has to stop to fight the men who come at him, alternately running away and then running after Park to keep him from running away.

They escape the church, and again get stopped when the men surround them and charge Jung-hoo with fists and feet flying. He holds his own despite being vastly outnumbered… and then a car pulls up and a man steps out wielding a heavy metal pipe.

Jung-hoo freezes in alarm, and watches as that pipe swings straight into the back of Park’s head.

Park starts to go down, and the world goes silent (in a frankly weird edit) as he falls in slow motion.

Jung-hoo lurches forward to catch his fall, but gets knocked aside. Park’s head slams into the sharp brick staircase with a sickening thud.

Jung-hoo stares in horror. Police sirens sound in the distance and Moon-ho’s car arrives, but the army of goons retreats swiftly. They’re gone before you know it.

Jung-hoo rushes to Park’s side and begs him to answer his question, but comes away with bloodied hands. Park makes a wheezing sound and struggles to open his eyes, not quite dead yet, and Jung-hoo leans in close to hear his words.

Young-shin runs up and takes in the scene: Jung-hoo kneeling before the man, the bloody pipe on the ground.

Jung-hoo rises to his feet and meets her eye with literal blood on his hands. Moon-ho joins her a second later, followed by police… and Jung-hoo runs.

COMMENTS

Ohhhh no, this doesn’t look good any way you slice it. It’s bad that he ran, but it’s also not like he should have stuck around to get arrested, especially when he’s already in murky waters with the law.

Even so, while I find this scenario itself highly angst-stirring, I’m not too worried about Young-shin’s reaction to the incriminating tableau. In a different drama I probably would be concerned, but this writer doesn’t pace her major plot points haphazardly; there’s always a certain thematic cohesion and direction, and not for nothing was this hour the Trust Episode.

For plot reasons it was important to see Young-shin’s reaction to learning the truth of her past, and I appreciated that we were shown the layers of conflict in the moment. It hurt to see her pushing both Moon-ho and Jung-hoo away, but I liked that I could see Young-shin disliking that about her own reaction—she doesn’t want to be suspicious, but she can’t just will herself into ignoring the doubts.

It was important to watch her work through her response, and I wouldn’t have wanted the drama to gloss it over—but given that it was such angsty material, I’m also relieved that this wasn’t belabored. I’ll attribute this to the writer’s skill, which isn’t in necessarily crafting wildly original stories (as we’ve noted, Healer has a lot of conventional elements, pulled from familiar stories), but in knowing what to draw out, and how much.

It’s one of those almost invisible skills, because there’s less of an obvious wow factor when your writer is gifted at finessing a scene for emotional impact and teasing out beats that make us squeal—or cry, or hurt—rather than, say, dropping amazing new twists. I think that may be part of why Healer has sparked a particularly fervent response amongst its fanbase, leaving even the fans wondering what exactly its pull is rooted in. Maybe Song Ji-nah is just a master puppeteer of heartstring-pulling. Like I said, that’s a gift.

Another thing that Song is deft at, which is something I particularly noticed and loved about Story of a Man, is the way she draws conflict out of people being weak and human, instead of purely evil. Okay, sometimes there’s pure evil in there, but many of the antagonizing forces are problems because they are weak, such as Park Dong-chul.

Granted he made me want to reach into my screen to beat some sense into him, refusing to see that he was playing with fire, but I found it so compelling the way he was half-talking to himself instead of Jung-hoo, trying to justify his reasons for betraying Jung-hoo—almost like he was asking for Jung-hoo’s understanding, or even blessing. He’d clung to his identity as a righteous cop whose life was ruined for sticking to his morals, and now he just wants to cash that in a little bit to make his difficult life a little easier. It’s too bad you can’t only sell a little bit of soul and keep the rest; it’s sort of an all-or-nothing deal when you’re talking about core integrity. That makes Park’s last-ditch effort woebegone and pathetic, and because it’s so desperate, it only deepens Jung-hoo’s own desperation.

You see this trait in other characters too, with various people creating complications because they’re just living out their own lives and doing their jobs, like Detective Yoon. I love these worlds that Writer Song creates, where everybody’s the hero of their own story, and there are lives being lived beyond the screen’s confines.

So back to the trust issue: Yes, Jung-hoo’s up a creek at the moment, but I don’t believe the writer gave us that awesome “come back to me” scene only to yank it out from under our feet in the same episode. My favorite moment was when Young-shin asked him to find the truth, and then asked him to come back even if he hadn’t found it. She trusts him anyway, and her faith isn’t contingent upon the existence of decades-old evidence. Which may in fact be just the thing Jung-hoo needs to hear, actually, if his last hope of having certainty is now dead and gone. He’s so desperate to hear the words telling him his father wasn’t a killer, even though he believes (mostly, almost entirely!) that Dad wasn’t—and maybe Young-shin’s display of faith is the example he needs to have faith himself.

(One last reminder: Please don’t live-watch the next episode in the post for a previous episode, because that makes every recap post a minefield of spoilers. I know not everybody harbors as much hatred of spoilers as I do, but those are the house rules. Don’t make me go over there and delete you!)

Healer OST Part 2 (When You Hold Me Tight) - Yael Meyer

Published on 22 Dec 2014

When You Hold Me Tight

Love, it isn't just a dream
now that you are everything to me
oh love is the sweetest thing
I smile at every being with a skip in my heart

the moon, the sky, the stars can shine all night long tonight
but I only have eyes for you and I'm home when you hold me tight (so just hold me tight)
oh oh oh oh oh
you hold me tight

Love, dazzling at first sight
challenging now everything we thought we knew was right
oh love, it is our destiny
we're caught up in the daze of only you and me

The moon, the sky, the stars can shine all night long tonight
but I only have eyes for you and I'm home when you hold me tight
oh oh oh oh oh
you hold me tight

Even through high tide and tempestuos rainfall
I'll be by your side with bated breath and (together) we'll sail through it all

(together) we'll sail through it all
oh oh oh oh oh
(together) we'll sail through it all

There are still some sweet moments! Plus a kiss! ...and I loved that throwaway line when Moon Ho said that every time JH and CYS met they would cry, and clarified that it was because they didn't want to part (that totally explains clingy Healer!) and then CYS says (somewhat smugly), "He would have cried first." (clearly a reference to what she told JH when he asked her to leave in the midst of his angst). But yeah, I miss the cute clingy moments in Episode 15...time to rewind and watch!

Yeah, I love that little tidbit as well but I would have said Ji An would be the one to cry first based on the MoruMoru Island flashback, she kept chasing JH to play with her. But then, we saw clingy Healer (!), so yes, I agree with you, CYS, you got that right.

Ahem ahem, up until now I totally heard the line as

"we’re caught up in the TASTE of only you and me ;)

LOL! I used to think its odd that R rated lyrics could come in a Korean OST but now this totally makes sense!

Ji Chang Wook recorded his OST for Healer - a sweet ballad about loving Young-shin.

As much as I love our OTP, I wanna highlight Jung-hoo and Moon-ho here.
Love it when JH told CYS that MH is not a bad person and at the same time MH also protected JH by telling CYS that JH wanted to tell her about her mum but he's the one who asked him not to.
They're defending one another! How sweet it is.

I've always looked forward to their scene together, and now that they're bros (they had reconciliation beer yo), they're like my fave bromance couple.
YJT and JCW are both awesome.

Yes yes yes... I also noticed that. Especially when JH said that Moon Ho was not a bad person . Reason for as more funny because he did not avoid a single punch received all :D

Thanks JB for a wonderful recap as usual - and also for reminding people about trying to stay spoiler-free in the comments! I'm particularly appreciative since I've resorted to staying away from recaps and/or threads when I know people are starting to chat about previews (especially for the even-numbered episodes!) as much as I'd love to hang out.

I'm impressed by the restraint and control that the writer and cast has put in the story and in the characters - despite all the spilling of truths in this episode (CYS's Mom! JH's Dad! Outing that PBS/JH belongs to CYS and vice versa! CYS, JH and MH's entwined (and happy) past! Myung Hee realising the depths that MS was willing to sink to!) everything felt very grounded, and thus realistic.

Once again, the writing has been outstanding in layering the story and the characters - how JH had met Myung Hee (someone important to CYS) when she hadn't...and CYS had met Ahjumma (someone important to JH) when he hadn't even seen her face despite working for her for 8 years; CYS's admonition to JH to "come when you find (the evidence)" and then to "come even if you can't find it". I like the attention to detail in terms of the narrative that this writer pays, despite some minor plot holes (like that bug that Myung Hee planted, cos seriously, how is that woman getting access to such stuff when she's been painted as a homebody who only bakes and cooks when she's not being ill??).

Despite all the seriousness of this episode, I also love the small comedic beats that the writer managed to slip in, e.g. Dad and Coffee Ahjusshi's scenes in the cafe and their astonishment at seeing JH together with CYS; Ahjumma singing to "I Am The Best"; the newsroom office when everyone was so busy and the guy who picked up the phone was so miffed that CYS wasn't around that he rattled off that she was probably dumped (LOL - clearly, the furthest thing away from the truth, cos seriously, clingy Healer helllllooooo).

But that ending. THAT ENDING. I hope JH at least got something useful out of that ex-detective before he kicked the bucket, given that he's caused JH to look super suspicious in that context! And also, surely if it came down to it, and they analysed the weapon and JH's fingerprints, those would come out different right? (Unless they falsify the forensic analysis, which isn't entirely implausible!)

Um. OK, I just rewatched the episode again and realised something - how did Myung Hee know that Moon Ho knew JH and would be able to contact him? ...I feel like there were some leaps of logic there LOL after all, she met JH once (after a chat) and it's not like he revealed that he knew Moon Ho...

Also, thinking about it Myung Hee doesnt have anyone else to turn to really and can only trust Moon Ho.

I actually think it makes sense if you consider that her character has been becoming more awake and aware in these last few episodes. She may not know the specifics, but she knows that Moon-ho and Moon-shik are at odds and she clearly trusts Moon-ho.

I actually think she deduced a while ago that Moon-ho is trying to uncover Moon-shik's wrongs, particularly those concerning Seo Joon-sook's father and she also knows that Healer is involved and is likely Seo Jung-hoo. When you think about it, Moon-ho's really the only person she could call and the only person within her sphere who could even possibly be connected with/on the same side as SJH. It's an instinct I would have definitely had if I were her.

Moon-hoo used to babysit YS & JH, so he knew him. I think Myung-hee was just taking chances whether MH would be able to contact JH, as Moon-hoo just reported Teacher's death and his murderer with the help of Healer. And Myung-hee heard Moon-shik suspecting Jung-hoo as the Healer. I don't know if I am right though.

when did she start listening into her husband's conversations? maybe they were talking about how MH and JH were working together, so she didn't have to put 2 and 2 together but just hear about it.

and she was one of the initial group of five friends, so she knew about the healer idea, she HAD recognized JH even in his healer appearance (and later played it safe in front of KMS), but, most of all, she watched MH's report on the arrest of teacher's killer.

she knew MH was onto secretary oh - and obviously knows secretary oh and who's his boss - and the way MH linked the murder with the mayoral campaign was telling. she's not stupid, just was a long time drowning in depression, and drugs.

now she's keeping watch, she can read all info in-between the lines...

question now is... will she ever start wondering if her daughter is not actually dead, since she started doubting much of what KMS is telling her?...

p. s. and she met JH's mom, who told her about how JH's safety was threatened by the man myung-hee is living with.

it makes sense completely, once you think about it. they just skipped a few scenes connecting the dots, lol, cause they probably trust us to find the reasons or pick our own explanations :D

my peeve with the later eps is how everyone seems to be talking on the phone a lot, instead of face-to-face. i miss extreme emotion shown in the eyes of people talking directly - though MH's reaction to his brother's claim of caring for the youths was superb. he CAN act with this eyes too :D he's learning from JCW, and JCW is learning from him. win-win all the way :D

I'm with you on the use of phones in this episode. They surely talk on the phone a lot. And I mean A LOT. Everybody's talking to everyone on the phone. JH-YS, MH-MS, Mhee-MH, MJa-MH, everyone! I was literally shouting at my screen, Not another phone call!!

0

I was thinking about that too, but then I remember that Myung Hee told Moon Ho about the first time she saw Jung Hoo (as his father). So I guess it's not a huge leap of logic to think that Myung Hee also told Moon Ho about her second meeting with Jung Hoo and that they talked about it. Also, I think Myung Hee only called Moon Ho because she literally has no one else to call - she only has Moon Ho and Moon Shik in her life, but obviously Moon Shik's out of the question, so the only one she could turn to was Moon Ho.

Required fields are marked *

@ latewatch Chandler Giegie shelly es siesta So the call to Moon Ho is one of the things I've decided to suspend disbelief on and just let go, cos even if she decided that Moon Ho was the only person she could turn to, there was still no way for her to have known he would know Jung Hoo (especially since she wasn't privvy to everything that happened between him, CYS and MH), although I don't rule out the possibility that she might have guessed that he had worked with JH aka Healer to bring Secretary Oh to justice, or she'd overheard her husband and Sect Oh talk about MH and JH working together to bring Elder/MS down. The deck looks stacked against JH for now, so maybe Myung Hee will play the counterbalance to that and help rebalance the deck - that's what I'd be excited to see. Thanks everyone for chipping in with your comments though!

And @shelly and pastmidnite yeahhh way too many phone conversations and not enough f2f - but that kind of reflects what's been going on in the show too. A lot of 'broken telephone' where the truth is distorted because it goes through so many different parties, who only have one part of the truth and not the whole truth.

that's an idea... you think the excessive phone use is maybe a secret theme running?

i thought maybe it was along the product placement lines, rather. and it might be saving lots of filming time, given the live shoot and all.

re: product placement... the first time it works on me. i want a coffee bay drink sooo bad. i wonder if they have places open in europe (is this a korean brand, or an international chain?)

and i SO much want a winter coat like JH's and MH's - discovery expedition? but i'm a woman :(
they look sooo comfy and it's so cold here now lol. so, official request to the sponsor - send me one of those winter coats for men, with the man inside it too. i'd rather have JH if you don't mind, thank you.

I see the plot hole with how Myung Hee got the bug on the photo but I think it's fine that way when they didn't show how she got it. If they were to show everything and explain every little single thing....then it would get dragged out. So when I watched it, I felt it was great to see her skills come back into action. We know they were all reporters back then and I think it's great to see something we can take a guess/stab at instead of revealing every single thing about every single people. And I know the writer has been consistent with bringing back small details. So we may find out in the future episodes...we may not. But I like guessing sometimes.

Now my list is:
1- Ji Chang Wook (I feel a bit Cougarish about it, but there it is...)

and a distant 2 - Lee Dong Wook because he seems like such a great guy all around. And frankly I can't even remember the reasons any actor caught my eye for skills or any other equally UNSQUEE reason because I'm completely smitten. I am Wookie Saturated.

1. Ji Chang Wook (as Jung Hoo)
2. Ji Chang Wook (as Park Bong Soo)
3. Ji Chang Wook (as Healer - ninja/vigilante)

He is just killing this role!

This is really funny. I loved @RooPoo143, that list is hilarious and I love it!

To be perfectly honest....I fall in love with a lot of actors....but eventually they lose their place when a new or old one comes along. No one really stuck around but let me tell you guys this: after Empress Ki, I was swooned by JCW and he's the only one that stuck. And hes still sticking to me. I usually am able to watch other dramas even while being obsessed with another but nope, not this time. I'm fully invested in only JCW! Cant even watch Hyun Bin or Ji Sungs new drama. There is a first for everything.

It has made watching this daebak drama so much more fun, exciting, and totally enjoyable!

I'm glad that Moon-ho told Young-shin who she is and about the past, as that was the only real advantage Moon-shik had even if he was reluctant to use it. Had Moon-shik told her the truth I think her trust in Moon-ho and Jung-hoo would have been shaken more than it was since Moon-ho told her first.

I'm sad that Jung-hoo and Young-shin have had so little romantic time together because now the crap has hit the fan and all I see is danger for our heroes, especially for my beloved Jung-hoo (yes, in my world, he's mine). Danger and angst as the bad guys seem to be a step ahead now. I do love where the story is heading but with only 4 episodes left I want the angst to turn into some serious ass-kicking by our heroes. I don't just want to see our OTP happy in the last 15 minutes of the final episode, because I'll be crying my heart out knowing it is the FINAL episode, damn life. I can't even think about it. Oh, and Moon-ho told the Someday crew that Bong-soo was on a leave of absence. You better reappear again Bong-soo, even for a little bit.

All the actors on the show are just amazing. JCW's portrayal of Healer/Jung-hoo/Bong-soo is what grabbed my heart first. I'm so in love with his character that, although JCW is hotness, I know the other characters he's portrayed in other shows just won't do it for me, so I'm just not going to watch them. Jung-hoo is not perfect, but I still love him, flaws and all.

This is PMY's best performance for me. Young-shin is just so beautiful, so real, so strong. I wish I was like her.

YJT is a sweetie, his overbite is the cutest thing. Moon-ho frustrates me too, he has stuffed up big time but I can see redemption, and it better not cost him his life. I won't be happy. No more tears please!!!

KMK is just awesome in everything.

My guess ... despite the dangers and risks thrown at our OTP, they will find ways and means to re-connect so that couple time will not be nil. Ahjumma and Moon Ho will probably help out if necessary :) This is what the writer has been giving us all along, I trust that she will not forget that more than 50% of our hearts are invested in that OTP relationship!!!

And yes, now we want serious action to take the bad guys down. The battle truly commences, brains and brawn will all required, and I really want to see Healer in action fighting those goons so coolly as he did in this episode!!!

I was thinking that this is a possibility.

Now that YS knows everything ,... her birthdate and that mum is preparing food for the remembrance of it ... and she did tell Moon Ho that he could have told her earlier, (that her birth mother was alive) ... and she could have pretended in front of her mum that she did not know.

Also, he knows that Myung Hee felt disappointed in not meeting the reporter for the interview. So he is the person to set up a meeting on Ji An's birthday.

It will be sooooo touching. YS will have to pretend and not cry and not have a panic attack! Moon Ho too with his expressive eyes (they turned teary, did you notice?) will have a hard time holding back the tears.

But all this would have to take place without MS becoming aware of it and putting another block to it.

I dont' know if I'm not only one who feels this way but I was perfectly fine with how ep 16 went. I was sad but I love watching and observing how the main couple goes through a tragedy like that. If they are a happy go lucky couple without the context of the generational impact then it would make sense to see them suddenly sad but I always expected something like this to happen because they lived in such a corrupt world. And straight from the beginning, things were rough for them already when we found out the three main leads were all connected to each other. I loved this episode because of the action as well, we got to see SJH kick butt again and it was pretty awesome how effortless he was fighting off the first two goons in that abandoned store.

I also love where the story is going....about time MS hit them back and hard. I am interested to know what goes on the last 4 episodes because I didn't come into this drama wanting romance (honestly). I saw the action and plot first and then was intrigued that romance was thrown in it as well. So I am super pumped for next week to see how the story continues to unfold! So exciting! I love when trouble comes....hopefully no more deaths but I wouldn't be surprised either if a couple more people died.....I think.

You're not alone! Actually, I'm pretty okay with everything that has happened. What's a story without its obstacles to conquer, yes? Maybe because I have too much faith in our OTP and Healer team. Ooorrr... maybe (and most probably) I still have the feelings left over from Ep 15, that nothing can sway my sensations of giddiness.

4 episodes left and dayum I've never been so excited! Usually, in my past drama experiences, I can't wait for a show to finish so I CAN FINALLY BE DONE WITH IT and take it out of my mind. I'm impatient that way. But in Healer, there's still so much plot to cover and so much to look forward to.

So..... this episode was out to test the thing holding our three heroes as a team, named aptly "trust". In my own interpretation this show doesn't have one lead but three, Moon Ho, Healer and YS. All of their stories are equally important to building the whole picture for us. There haven't been many comments on this, but I really enjoy the portrayal of how manipulated the media is and how difficult it is for a real reporter to do a real job. Moon Shin is such a good example of someone living in that situation. This seems to be a repeating theme, with cops unable to be cops, Politicians who are not really serving the public but are puppets etc...the story questions the fabric of how genuine the fabric that holds society is after all? After this episode I can't help but be scared the most for MH Noona. She seems really vulnerable and trapped, and I worry that Moon Shin will go balistic with her, when he realizes his only reason for doing all this just woke up.......on the sit of our pants until next episode!

I actually watched Punch and Healer at the same time, and was not moved by Punch to continue it actually, which really surprised me because I was expecting this to be better because I actually knew and liked both leads of Punch in other dramas I watched, while Healer, I never heard of Ji Chang Wook and Yoo Ji Tae. I am very surprised how much I like Healer to the point I delurk in dramabean, and I have been a reader for years. It is fantastic and exciting.

And appreciate that Healer and the actors have made a fan out of me, and happy for them. Ji Chang Wook is really impressive here and what a delivery. He has proved himself to me as a standout actor and wish him the best, because he deserves it based on a fantastic performance. All the best as I will be watching for his next role.

From the South Korean ratings, they are all pretty much around 10%. Not one drama is running away with the ratings here and it shows that in Korea, they all have appeal in different ways because they are all three different genres.

What surprised me more is the international appeal of Healer as it is the most talked about and watched drama outside. There is a fever behind it and good for them as it is well deserved.

I don't really get these people (I know, it's just me). What I like in an actor is not just his looks, he needs to be able to act with his whole body and soul, and for soul I look into his eyes. Eyes are really important to me, that's why I can't really stomach that guy who played in Hotel King and Iron Man; the look in his eyes never changes, no matter what situation he is in and what he's going through. I love Jang Hyuk's eyes, for example, so expressive. That makes him loveable in my eyes, and it has nothing to do with abs, honestly. I really liked Lee Min Ho in Boys over Flowers, but not in the following dramas, because his acting is too stiff for my taste. Take Heirs for example, I felt NOTHING as I was watching the drama, I don't even know why and when the leads fell in love with each other. But take that scene in YS's room for example. You could see JH conveying so many various emotions -relief, surprise, hurt, resignation, understanding,etc- in less than a minute. That's what I love about this actor. He didn't really have to be so handsome into the bargain. What good is a pretty face when they can't ACT, huh? I think a part of LMH's popularity is because of his looks and height. As an actor, I don't really find him that good. And I'm posting this while I'm ready to be murdered by LMH's fans here, but let's be practical, shall we?

I do get exactly what you are talking about. I like many actors but a lot of them are popular based on looks too. And not many can act like JCW who uses very little words but is able to convey so much with just his eyes. And he also pays close attention to his body structure and how that impacts his portrayal of SJH. So I agree that I don't love JCW based soley on his looks, I love that he is extremely handsome but his acting is what really captivated me. Others need to start seeing that...but they may have other standards that are different from ours as well. I just want to be objective as possible. And it's been consistent in JCW's acting projects. Empress Ki was amazing because he made it amazing along with his costars. He pays attention to sutle things that many other actors overlook.

That would be an awesome scenario RooPoo143! She's already so badass and she was a cop too! I would love to see her storm in like she did at the coffee shop and act like she is the Boss that she is. It is so fitting that her anthem is I Am the Best.

i think JH actually is in a pretty good situation. despite CYS saw him with the dead detective, meaning CYS probably could testified against him, their team sort of has good source for they to fight the elder publicly.
they already have CYS daddy who is a lawyer and his ex-con gang, the oh-so-famous reporter KMH and someday gang (u know, the power of media can make good people looks bad and vice versa) and also ex-detective ahjumma with the cctv.

we gonna get a happy ending.
(i hope)

I just added 2 below under 140 and 141 I believe.

Which sub-threads are you looking for?

I was thinking of putting up the Lovely Links later (like Saturday or Sunday) when we have reached the stage of being lost and looking for something to do while waiting for the next episode LOLOL! But it's below on this page. :)

Did not healer already surpassed the average number of kisses??? I mean as far as I have watched generally I find 3 kiss scenes max in kdramas irrespective of types ( you accidental, fake, onesided, both sided etc etc)

Healer had already 4 ( stolen kiss in the kitchen was best) and we can hope for at least one more in the end..

Before I think secret garden, marriage not dating, I need romance I saw many kiss scenes..I did not finish watching Pinochhio, but there were already 2 till where I left :P

I know it's a weird topic to discuss , I am just trying to be in pleasant mood :)

And the kisses (and other displays of affection) seem natural rather than stilted which is like almost every other k-drama. Not to mention the main broadcasting stations tends to be stingy with signs of affection.

I so agree with you. Some k-drama actresses stiffen up when they were doing kiss scenes making it look unpleasant, like they were being forced or something and sometimes the kisses are overdone. But in this show the kisses so far looks natural and sincere. Kudos to PMY and JCW.

up to now, i think the record holding of most kisses in KDrama on the Big 3 is The World That They Live In aka World within : Song hye gyo and Hyun bin. Almost there's 1 kiss in each episode. I remember that once hyun bin being interviewed that when they do the first kissing scene, most staff are watching them, but since they filming kissing scene a lot, the staff got boring eventually, lol. So i wonder, when JCW and PMY did the kissing scene, did the staff all are line up to see them on action :D

oh, one thing that i notice in the healer bts scene. when the director say cut, JCW was run his hand gently yet slowly down her back. I found it really sexy, lol. I think that he's still in the JH character and don't want to be apart from PMY

The best thing for me, it is not a cardboard kiss like the usual Kdrama kiss. The way you just pressed your lips and the woman with big open eyes gasping for air. So annoying, I hate sometimes how Kdrama played us with 16 episodes of angst and just give us a cardboard kiss in the end, and then that's it. That's supposed to quench our thirst for romance. #eh, I use us, when it is actually just me. I want more romance!!!! More kiss! That's why I usually detest PSY, cos she acted with hot men, and always have stiff, suprised 'oh, you kiss me?" look, though I read she was better in Pinnochio, still... More hugs and kisses and love for JH next ep! He deserves more human touch, after all the sh$@£ he has been through.

Thank you Javabeans for a great and pretty insightful recap.
While the logical part of my mind agrees with the characters motivations; my reactionary mind is running a loop that I need to get out. So here it is -

Idiot! Why would you get into that car with HIM!/ You evil B@#@#@./Thank goodness for Ajumma./Idiot - why are you listening to that piece of evil and his minions? How have you survived so long? Do you even have reporter or personal safety instincts?/ Finally she knows!/ Yep - it's a trap. Cool fight./ Ah, you poor thing (seriously - no sarcasm) - reverting to hiding again. This sucks. Oh beep - this really sucks./ Yeah he came! Oh crap. Deeper crap. Yeah- that a girl!/ Pop 1 & 2 reactions - Ha!/ Wohooo kiss!/ Ajumma you ARE the best and you better not die!/ Trap! wooh, bypass trap/ Yes - ask everything girl/ Still a trap! Man you are an IDIOT, how did you ever pass the police exam?/WOW - Mom you are not as helpless as I hoped you weren't/ Go! Go! Go!/ Dude - I hoped you passed on where that tape is./ Girl PLEASE do not be an idiot! Let that just be editing for suspense./ I have to wait another week!!!!

Sigh, I should be able to sleep now. Sorry for the poor grammar, but I just had to get it out. I'll read y'alls comments and respond with my morning cup of brain juice. Night!

no matter how much we love our otp moments, this kind of angst filled episode is just as important to conclude the storyline. but we'll still have our happy ending, right? ;)

i love the moment when YS back away from JH.. ahhh.. it hurts. but then when she told him to come back no matter what.. aww.. so cute! and when they hug and kiss.. the faces of father and ajhussi are just daebak! i laughed so much after that! hahaha!

and that ending... argh.. i don't like YS's eyes when he saw JH and the dead guy.. but let's hope that it won't lead her to distrust him. and that she'll just trust him until the end.

come fast monday.. the wait is killing me!

I loved this analysis of the end! Just wanted to share. Credit goes to Tumblr user: dreamingsnowflake2013!!

dreamingsnowflake2013:

The history that repeats itself

What a cliffhanger! What an episode! It was epic in that SJNesque heartwrenching way, which made me wish I had made an appointment with a cardiologist or at least called for an ambulance prior to watching it. At first, I tried to selectively forget those last 5 minutes and re-watch episode 15 for 10th (read: 110th) time, because when I was livestreaming it, the first thought which occured to me was that YS suspected JH of killing that man. However, after I calmed down and my brain started functioning again, my view of that scene changed completely. YS is visible shaken by the sight before her, yes, but for different different reasons than I initially thought - she’s shocked by the violence, the extent to which their enemies would go to achieve their ends, and her Jung Hoo, a victim, ending up being drenched in blood. She is aghast at what JH has had to go through in his search for the truth, how much he is actually putting himself in danger by pursuing it. I can even spot a certain hint of sadness in her gaze as if she blamed herself a little because she knows that he is doing it also for her. But what I really love is that her foremost concern is JH - when she hears the police sirens, she is alarmed that they would catch him and when he runs she isn’t disappointed but relieved.

If she will think logically, just as I think she will, YS will realize there is no way in hell JH would kill the only man who to his knowledge knew the truth behind his father’s case, not after she heard how desperately he’s been looking to uncover the truth. However, most importantly, this is HER JUNG HOO - the man she made love with without knowing his name, the man whom she trusted with her deepest secrets, the man she believed in despite knowing his past, despite knowing the worst of him. Despite operating on the different side of the law, JH is a man of strong principles; he has never taken a job which would hurt or cause death to another person no matter how much money the client offered him. Even in his blind rage following the attempted murder of YS and his teacher’s death, he didn’t kill anyone no matter how much they deserved it.

For a moment, let’s look at the bright side of things. JH’s already been framed for 2 murders so what does one more change in the large scheme of things, right? Don’t you even think that MS is overdoing it - he is basically making JH into some crazy serial killer. However, MS is all alone, while JH is the HEALER and now he has MH, Ahjumma, Myung Hee and YS to fight by his side, there is no way he could possibly lose against MS and his pathetic, foul tactics.

Now, the heartbreak aside, how narratively epic is the fact that JH is following in his father’s footsteps not only by searching for the truth and fighting against the Elder but also following his...

Wow simply beautiful. @Alienkay thank you so much for posting this. I always admire dreamingsnowflake's analogies. I think she always writes with the mind set of the writer, she knows where the writer wants to take our characters, throws a few hurdles and obstacles their path just to strengthen their bond and love for one another. I'm sure young shin truly believed in the innocence of her beloved even when all the circumstances price otherwise.

It's incredible how this show makes us so in love with the otp, yet we are not only in it for the romance. This episode proved to me that I will still watch Healer, even without the romance. I've never watched a show where I was rooting for the romance, without having to fast forward every scene they weren't in. In Healer, I've never... not even once used the fast forward button, which is so alien to me.

That says a lot about the writing, because I actually care so much for the characters and their back ground story. Now that is great story telling.

@TurkishRose

I am feeling the likes of something I havent felt since Harry Potter ended. Granted that is a 10 years of my life and this is 10 weeks. And both are totally different to be compared.
But the entire post-Harry Potter era has been in search of something that filled that whole of magic and home. And am still searching.

So am pretty sure am gonna go on hunt for dramas to fill that whole and come up with the conclusion that nothing ever would measure up to THIS.

@Divyrus, so that must have been so tough post Harry potter. I've never watched it, but I could imagine I would probably do the same. Try to keep marathoning different series, so I can be occupied. I've had this horrible idea for the past week, and after watching this episode, my feeling is becoming a bit stronger that somehow this show might not end in happiness, but in a tragic sorrow.

For some odd reason, I feel like in the end jung hoo will somehow die in young shin's arm, because he was trying to sacrifice himself for her. And she by that time will be pregnant with their child.

I know, I know...call me weird and call me crazy. But I pray that it doesn't end in sadness and pain for our characters and for all of us watching here :(

Lol @fantasy, of course I'm not offended dear. But, I realized that this writer doesn't mind sad endings, and that jcw as well doesn't mind a tragic ending for his character. So with how the story is going so far, I hope I'm wrong of course. Who wouldn't want them to have a happy ending?

So far Healer is my top kdrama that I've ever watched, simply for for the fact that it brought out so much emotions from me that I wasn't aware a show could do for me. Be it sadness, happiness, or pure love, I felt all of them, and had my heart flutter and break while watching it. So if a show can do so much, it definitely needs to be on top list for anyone.

I normally don't mind sad endings much, but for Healer a sad ending would be a bad ending, to me at least, cos I want them to be happy, every one of them! Ajumma included, minion too; M Ho of course, M Hee absolutely. Our OTP needless to say.

I don't think it's gonna happen tho, not for everyone I don't think.

0

@KDaddict
"But for Healer a sad ending would be a bad ending" Yep! Don't do it writer, please! Or else!! ! >.<

0

On the contrary, I actually loved the ending. xD Although I agree, that kind of ending is not for Healer. But for SoaM...watching it, it felt pretty awesome. It was the first drama that I ever felt for a villainy character. How clever he always was. It's hard to really see in recap form.

I really hope the loose ends are tied up for Minion! Dae-young has been too good to Jung-hoo and Ajumma to forget, right?

I recall Ajumma mention 'replacing' the Healer, perhaps Minion will be Healer 3.0? That would be lots of fun. I can imagine Jung-hoo fussing over his dongsaeng like he did in the early episodes (If it is not obvious, I quite like Minion very much despite limited screen time. The characters in Healer all are very wonderfully fleshed out, even the minor ones)

We have four episodes to go where just about anything tragic could happen right up to halfway through the last episode. @TurkishRose, it's got me worried too. The script is so brilliant we may not even be able to imagine what we're in for. But I think the writer is in love with her characters quite a bit and I bet anything she has her mind on the pulse of public sensibilities and is way too smart and sensitive to break the hearts of thousands of people around the world through a tragic ending.
Personally, I've always fantasized a wonderful last scene where a seaplane lands next to that tropical island and Jung hoo carries carries Young-shin through the gentle surf to the shore. You can see by the rings on their hands they are married and they head to a thatched cottage in a clearing only to hear music and find her dad, all the ex-convicts, her mom and Moon Ho all waiting for them with a party. YS laughs and starts dancing in the middle of the circle and pulls JH in with her. They are surrounded by love.
And so are we.

I imagine the same ending...well not as detailed as yours are, but YS and JH going off to the tropical island or Healer running and bouncing off from building to building on a new job.

And Min Ja dancing around in a grass skirt holding a pineapple drink. There's a white covered box on a low table with a bottle of Soju beside it with a paper umbrella in it. JH has brought Teacher's ashes to be spread by the group later from outrigger canoes!!

Don't jinx it, guys.

What you just spelt out would be the 'go-to' ending if the one they give us doesn't satisfy.

@Lunatic4kd, simply love what you wrote. I hope the writer stays witty, thoughtful and intelligent until the end. I mentioned earlier, I'm only afraid because I know some of her dramas have sad endings, and looking at jcw's resume, he also doesn't mind tragic endings for the characters he portrays.

I'm loving this show so much and it's my number 1 so far, and I know the ending determines how high it will stay on my list :)

I have just find this site a few weeks ago and been reading the recaps since then. This drama oh this drama is soooooo GOOD
!!
All the comments above, i agree with every single one of them. I hope the writer can read all of your comments and make our wish come true ?

Tbh, i feel so crushed after watching this ep, but reading the comments here has made me feels relieves and have a good sense of hope that CYS would think only on the positive side about her boyfriend. I believe that she's smart enough to assess the situation first before making a judgment. About the cut out part that JB mentioned earlier, i am dying to know what MH actually tells CYS then. I think he probably had spilled everything on her, knowing that CYS didn't even ask for reasons when MH tells her to warn JH after he got a call from hs sister in law. She must have known now that MS is not to be trusted. She has to, please? Now i'm doubting myself. Haha.

Gosh, monday please come soon!!

@mels welcome :) Healer has brought most of us out of the kdrama darkness. I never had the need to post anything about a show, but healer made us want to squee, be happy, be sad, and enjoy the ride :)

I'm so happy that your handle is now Kgroup instead of Kaddict. Kgroup makes more sense, cos Kaddict is just one person.

Or it may be also Kaddict, which I just saw on the thread for Hyde, Jekyll Me ep 3 recap.

I realise the obscurity of this comment, and I haven't exactly read through all the comments so I'm not sure if someone's already said this:

While I totally love and understand the crazy we feel for Ji Chang Wook, can I also put it out there that Yoo Ji Tae deserves just as much love? That guy is amazing. So matured. So poised. So cool in ways I can't quite explain. *fans self*

I knew it after all the cuteness, something horrible will happen and since my heart isn't up for it this is where I check out until everything gets resolved, then I'll watch it all at once less pain time that way. This is how people end up with high blood pressure, bad things happen, awesome cliffhanger which is what I assumed happened, you're left on edge the whole week because all you think of is healer. I'm thinking of healer but atleast I'm still under the influence of the last episode, cuddles.

I can't stand it, I am not going to watch it again, not after it is finished, though I am going to read the recap by miss JB. If I like the recaps, then I watch it.
