Beanie level: Eunuch in drag

Second leads need to ask themselves this question every day.

This image is often used to demonstrate how awesome Song Yi is but she’s a real jerk in this scene. She’s at her friend’s wedding and all she does is try to one-up Yoo Ra. It just shows her immaturity

My re-watch of Shut Up Flower Boy Band is sadly over. It was still so good. Guys, if you haven’t watched it, you seriously need to drop everything and do so. It’s worth it.

I’ve gotten sliiiightly addicted to watching Fantastic Duo clips. This is one of my favorite performances. Their chemistry was on fire, and their voices are just daebak.

7
3

Yessss. I think I prefer their duo to the original.

    1
    1

Me, too. I mean it was a good song originally, but this just took it to that next level.

      1
      1

That and I really like watching the reactions in the audience. 😃

His smirk gives me life. Too bad none of Sung Joon’s other projects have ever caught my attention. Mojito sounds kind of interesting and kind of weird. I’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.

1

Su-ah is awesome. She stands up for herself, but she also stands up for those around her whether she knows them or not. She refuses to judge others just based on their appearance or their social class

Who takes a shower with a towel on? But, hey, I’m all for fan service within a minute of the series. Cheon Song Yi gets better, right? Not really sympathizing with her in the first episode. #YFAS

6
3

Haha ikr! It does get better. If I remember correctly, I think you just have to get through the 1st 4 eps ish. Then you’ll really see her charm and that she’s one of a kind. Especially when she’s with Do Min Joo and her brother 🙂

    3
    1

Yeah I hope so. I mean the first episode wasn’t bad by any means, but I thought I would be way more addicted to it right off the bat than I am.

      1
      1

I understand. It was the same for me too cause I watched after hearing all the hype about it. It’s not perfect but in the end, I think it was worth watching its magical charm and its a fun ride!

        1
        0

Re-watching Shut Up Flower Boy Band. I didn’t realize how brilliant it’s intro is. Literally, in the first two minutes, you already know so much about the motivations and character of each member.

This is one of my all time favorite dramas. And the only drama I can say I have watched more than once!!!

    2
    1

I’ve been getting more into rewatching shows. I have a long list of shows I want to rewatch. I figured I’ll watch one new and one old, rotating between the two. I think I’ll watch My Love From the Star along with this one since I have yet to watch it…

      1
      1

Love that you’re tackling your rewatch list! I’ve got tons of dramas I’d like to rewatch, too, but I barely have time to manage my currently airing dramas first. You From Another Star is definitely on my rewatch list!

        1
        1

I haven’t been too excited for the currently airing shows. I’ve been barely keeping up with the recaps, so that’s part of the reason for the re-watches.

          1
          0

I almost want to jump on the School 2017 bandwagon, except I have a weird thing about watching series in order. I know the seasons aren\’t connected, but still…and 7 seasons are a lot to catch up on.

6
5

OoOOO me too. I watched AM 1997 and loved it but AM 1994 is next and I haven’t been able to really get into it and I realllly want to watch AM 1988. But the ORDER..of filming sorry if that was confusing. But yknow what maybe we can do this. You start your order backwards. School 2017 first huh? Let’s trick our brains.

    1
    1

I totally get you. I’m exactly the same way. I’ve read 3 or so books just to get to the one that I really wanted to read in the first place just to read the series in the correct order. I just don’t know if I can bring myself to watch it out of order with School, especially since the other seasons do sound interesting with all the now-famous names in them.

      1
      1

OOoOOo yeap I feel you I read the Narnia series in the current popular numbered order only to later learn it isn’t that actual publication order. Which means I read the last FIRST. 😐

        0
        1

That drives me crazy. There’s been a few times where I’ve really had to research what order a series is. I’m just like I shouldn’t have to work this hard just to read the first book first…

          1
          1

Woohoo! I’m a Eunuch in drag…wait, what?
I haven’t run into a eunuch in drag that I like yet, so I’ll just post my favorite cross-dresser. Coffee Prince was the first k-drama that I binge-watched 😀

10
6

I keep a list of all the kdramas I’ve seen (79), then I rank them. The 1st pic is my original ranked list started in 2010, and the 2nd pic is one I just did. How do y’all organize your kdramas?

5
19

I also have lists have favorites scenes and favorite lines. I hope I’m not the only one crazy enough to do all this lol

    1
    0

I used to organize my list using word doc, but ever since one of beanies here told me about mydramalist.com, I’m using that website to organize my completed dramas, watchlist and currently watching.

    3
    1

I had thought of checking out that website, since alot of beanies seem to be into it. If I did, I probably would maintain all three lists though lol

      0
      1

I maintain an excel list as well, but mine is a bit ridiculous. I have the following columns: Drama Name, Lead Cast, Supporting Cast (I need to stop doing everybody cause this get ridiculous), Director(s), Writers(s), Channel, Type (K/C/T/t/J-Drama), Genre(s), No. of eps (total), No. of eps (aired), My current ep, My progress (completed/stopped/finished), Year, Day(s) Aired, Date Started, Date Finished. Finally the ratings are broken down as follows: Visuals, Sound, Story, Acting, Watchability, Pacing, Extra Credit (Cause no drama is perfect and I want by favourites to get a perfect score, lol), and finally, Average Points/Grade. Yup, kinda ridiculous, I know, but I find I get to sort exactly how I want this way. Started using it before I heard about mydramalist, but I put so much effort into this dang thing. I would use both, but don’t see myself abandoning my excel list anytime soon.

        1
        1

Wooow, that is extensive, but pretty cool. I had thought about adding lead actors/actresses’ names. I’ll probably do so in the future or maybe have a column for stand out performances whether lead or not.

          0
          0

I have a pinterest page with dramas worth rewatching and in my bullet journal I write down dramas that I really loved and actors that I want to follow. In my bujo I also try and write down something random about the drama because its never the plot, or the actor, or the OST that I remember. Its always something like: he has a really cute face and the mom and son in law really love each other and every time they see each other they run to each other and do an elaborate happy dance that sometimes isn’t elaborate and is just them holding hands and jumping up and down and twirling in circles as they smile happily at each other. While the daughter is off in the corner like…how are these my people?

    2
    1

That’s a good idea to write out random points. I’m always surprised by what sticks with me about a drama long after I watch it. I usually think of the grand showings of love or emotion right after I watch it, but then looking back, it’s other, smaller moments that really stuck in my memory.

      0
      0

I have a piece of paper which was part of a bank statement once upon a time that I’ve been writing my kdramas down on for four years now. It’s folded in half, and my writing is tiny on it. I’m running out of space on the last “page” now and I don’t know what to do. (I’ve debated posting a pic because I’m also curious as to what others do to keep track.)

I’ve been debating transferring it to a notebook or doing an Excel/Word doc to be more organized, or to write an impression or rating along with the title but that seems like so much effort. Also I have a My Drama List so that I can keep track of Japanese, Taiwanese, and Chinese dramas, and keep track of where I put some kdramas on hold, so it feels almost redundant?

    2
    2

That would be interesting to see. I would have been afraid of losing it by now!
It only took me an hour or so to do mine, but of course it would depend on how many dramas you’ve seen. I always update it after I finish the last episode so that I don’t have to play catch up later. If you already do My Drama List, I could see not wanting to make a whole other list though

      1
      1

Yeah…I’m at the 150+ completed point, I believe. I really only like MDL for organization and looking for new things. I only have about an inch of space left on my paper (it lives in my desk drawer, so I can’t lose it) but maybe I’ll start transferring it to a notebook one day soon.

        1
        1

Yeah that would be alot to organize. If I were to watch all the kdramas on my to-watch list, I probably would be somewhere along there. I’m so far behind XP

          0
          0

I have a mydramalist–but I always forget to check it. Once every few months or so I go through and make sure that its up-to-date. Its kind of like my goodreads. I use it to keep track of what I’ve read/watched but I don’t use the other features. Although, they do let you add notes to the dramas and I can see where that would come in handy. Like I said, I remember moments (a week or so ago I wanted to see the honeymoon ep from Playful Kiss but I’ve seen so many different versions of that drama that it took me ages to figure out which drama I wanted to see it actually came from!)

      2
      1

It’s super helpful for sure, but I’m not enamored with it. I think it leaves something to be desired, honestly. But it’s definitely useful. I like that when I’m trying to remember the name of something or someone I can consult it really quickly. But I don’t love that they take some of the less common drama titles sometimes (e.g. “Stranger” for “Forest of Secrets”), as it makes it a bit confusing.

        1
        0

That’s a lot of work ! I only use mydramalist to organize my dramas like @hannaehh

    2
    0

An Excel spreadsheet? That’s some serious dedication. Hahaha. I just try and remember what I watched with varying results. 😂

    2
    0

It used to be just in my head then a lot of beanies recommended mydramalist.com so the site keeps it for me now. So handy. 😊

    1
    0

Wow, I’m impressed. I just write out my lists in a notebook. A page or 3 of completed shows and movies, dramas on my to be watched list, and a list of dropped dramas with the episode I stopped at so I can pick it up later, with a few notes to remind me of memorable moments, or actors names.

    1
    1

The dropped drama list is a good idea. I’m a bit of a completionist so I don’t have too many dramas that I’ve stopped halfway. I did drop The Best Love and Miss Korea, but hopefully, I’ll go back and watch those…eventually.
I have my to-watch list on my phone where I can cross them out as I go. I keep getting yelled at by my friends for continuing to add to the endless list. lol

      0
      1

My -to watch- list is reaching scary proportions. The keep coming out with more exciting sounding shows!

Omw the feels this brings back. I love how Hong-ki is just as excited to hear this again as I am

4
2

Haha but true. I like Yong-hwa’s live performances of “That Girl” so much better than the official version, although in the song he’s trying to claim a girl he barely knows as his lol

6
2

    Love Yonghwa and YHY interaction

    3
    1

I got into YHY after Youth Over Flowers. He has such a good rapport with his guests. I also love that he makes all his guests sing live, so you know you’re going to get a good and genuine performance.

I’m already stuck XP what the heck is this drama??

It’s a right of passage for a k-drama/pop fan to bid farewell to an oppa going into the military and to celebrate his discharge. My first send off/welcome back was Hyun Bin. Yours?

i did for all DBSK members 😅😅😅

          3

Blame it on sleepiness, I initially thought your 1st send off was Yoochun. Then I realized, you commented he’s coming back next week 😳

            1
            0

I was technically around for all their enlistments, but I’ve only loosely followed DBSK so I didn’t really note their enlistments. I do love “Mirotic” and I just got into “The Chaser”. I really should look more of their stuff up since they’re such legends.

            1
            0

@crysta you’ll not regret for looking more of their stuff hihi 😇

Oh I have a lot. Since I’m an elf, it’s Kangin, Heechul, Leeteuk, Yesung, Sungmin, Shindong, Donghae, Eunhyuk and Choi Siwon. Oh god, I feel old….

    2
    1

Lol well at least they’re almost done. They just sent off the last SJ member, didn’t they?

      1
      1

Yes, the youngest and the one who responsible for my k-craziness just enlisted. Counting days to May 24 2019 😅

        1
        2

Lol it always seems forever. I’m going to be heartbroken when Shinee, FT Island, and CN Blue start sending off members. It’s probably coming soon since they’re getting to that deadline.

          1
          1

None of the members enlisted yet? Wow it’s gonna be a long waiting. Fighting!

            0
            0

nope. 😕 it’s going feel forever but at least there’s only 4-5 members each and not 9+! Lol

My first send off ji chang wook

I\’m balancing the tragedy of 7DQ with…a happier tragedy? I think I\’m speeding through my re-watch of Marriage Contract faster, but only because that sadness is *slightly* tinged more with happiness.

3
9

That would be overload to watch both at the same time. I wish you have a good stock of tissue.

    2
    1

      I should get on that.

Usually it takes a lot for me to cry while watching a show, but there’s been a couple of scenes in MC that have gotten me already.

      0
      1

I envy you. I cry a lot so you can just imagine how much I cried watching that drama. I’ve watched it twice and still cried as much the second time.

        1
        1

I think I’ve cried more this time around, and I know there’s more scenes coming up that are probably going to get me, too.

          0
          0

But I love love love that even when the premise of “Marriage Contract” seems so doom and gloom, there’s still so might hope, so might fight, and so much love shown and given off… Most of it from Hye Soo, the one that’s going through and having to face all the doom and gloom– not to say that Ji Hoon isn’t facing his own battles of doom and gloom, because, yea, the guy is trying to deal with the fact that he just discovered the love of his life and is going to lose her so soon

    2
    1

Exactly. I love how there’s underlining hope through the whole thing. Not necessarily hope that she will live a longer life, but that she will a life to the fullest with whatever time she has.

I think even Ji-hoon embodies that strength, and I love how the show develops that strength in him throughout the show. The Ji-hoon at the beginning of the show would have left so fast if his girlfriend showed the slightest inclination to lean on him for anything, but after meeting someone who sees right through him to the wonderful person he has the potential to be and has seen her stand tall in front of all the adversity thrown at her, he will emulate that same attitude by standing tall next to his love no matter how desperately she pushes him away.

      2
      1

Oh man, Hye Soo’s strength is just so *awestruck* But I love that her strength comes from, then extends back to those who love her, Eun Sung & Ji Hoon.
In terms of Ji Hoon, Hye Soo wil never ever know the (positive, good) life-changing impact that she had in turning him into the man that he became by the end of the drama compared to the person he was in the earlier episodes. Her simple, but honest, remark to the Chairman in Episode 6 about how she thinks, feels, and can see that Ji Hoon is actually a very warm person under all that gruffness that he gives off to everyone— you can just SEE and feel the heart eyes that Ji Hoon was shooting towards Hye Soo lol

        2
        1

I love finding the moment that a character falls in love, and I think that Epi 6 scene is one of them for Ji-hoon. He has never met anyone who has ever seen him for more than a spoiled chaebol. Hye-soo has such a balance of straight-forward honesty and loving-kindness that he knows she truly means every compliment she says about him even when he doesn’t believe it about himself.

I also think he’s amazed about how well she can think on her feet in that scene. When he learns that she never has been to Japan, he’s just astounded by her. I think that’s when he really sees her in a different light and starts encouraging her to pursue her dreams.

          1
          1

I agree! I believe that he admires her for her wit and ability to think on her feet (she has to, she’s been running from loan sharks due to her ex, with a daughter attached), but I really believe that he loves her for her loving heart and her ability to see the good in people and give people the benefit of the doubt— like how he explained it to Eun Sung in Episode 14 when he brought Eun Sung out to play hide and seek in the park… ahhh such a heart-warming scene <3

This was a hard decision, but I’ll take the Seo In-guk on the left and @ObsessedMuch can have the one on the right. I’ll go for attitude over looks.

    So reasonable! Bravo!!

I feel you, it must have been a very difficult decision 😄. Can’t you have both though? ?

Oh no! Don’t you get swayed by beanies! They want another Oppa War! I got similar comments too! Let’s just learn to share! 😉

Aw, I guess I missed the Oppa Wars of 2017, but that’s ok. While y’all were distracted by Park Hae-jin, I ran off with my Oppa Seo In-guk.

Hahaha! Oh no you didn’t! Do you want to start a war with me now?!?

Now that we’re talking about SIG, how is he btw? Last I heard he had to cancel military bec of some injury 🙁 Is he better now?

            1
            0

No news man! 🙁 He has even left his old agency and joined a new (not that famous) one!

        1
        1

Aww 🙁 Maybe he’s up for changes? At least, he didn’t get bashed like Yoo Ah In was when in the same position. 🙁

          1
          2

People were saying crap that he delayed treatment so that it would be worse enough to get out of serving. The theory though is that the media site that was spewing such nonsense is owned by TOP’s label company and they just were trying to distract people from that mess. I’m not sure how well it worked…

            1
            0

@crysta – Now, that is crazy. calling military off bec of sickness cannot compare to drug scandal.

            2
            0

Nah he was bashed.. specially around the time that YAI started getting bashed.. cuz the knetz were like look- 2 of them are trying to wriggle out of their duties!

So unfair! He literally had no other option than to not be able to enlist!

        1
        1

So unfair indeed 🙁 Its not like its their fault for not getting treatment when their agencies are making them work like a horse 🙁

I do too! I love it when others love Oppa, Oppa deserves all the love, just don’t go challenging my love for him! I’m a good person, I don’t fight for no reason *cries*

He has no sense of shame or remorse or decency. It just astounds me how horrible he is. I really wish there was a truck of doom with his name on it.

I do like the consistency though. He was trash from beginning to end. I would have hated it more if the drama tried to redeem him.

True. I was so happy when everyone finally just left him because despite (and really because of) all his manipulations to avoid ever being alone and abandoned, that is exactly what happens to him.

Yesss! I’ve always liked that kind of “punishment” for villains. More than death, I wish them loneliness. To live their miserable lives alone.

Oh hey!!! I am, too!!!!! One of my top dramas =) But since it’s such a recent one (within the last year), I’m contemplating if I should dig deeper and watch something even older—which will definitely have some of the more old-school drama plots and devices i.e. amnesia, fanx-cest, etc.)– and see how I react to it now LOL But maybe after I finish my 100th rewatch of “Marriage Contract” =)

I started it before the DB challenge, but I was debating the same thing. I don’t know if I’ll do a write up or not. I feel like I should be watching something older too if I were to write something lol

I might go back and rewatch “Save Your Last Dance for Me” (2004/05) if I do decide to do a write up lol Oh wow, all the leads of that drama are now married–2 of them, to each other lol— …..times flies!!!
