Beanie level: Noble idiot

Also, it’s been a month since I last posted on my fan wall, so hi guys!

I recently got a boyfriend (squee!) so it’s been hard to find time for dramas/dramabeans/books/Netflix/social media. Between work, dating, friends, and family how am I supposed to find time!?

Time Travel or Cloning? I really don’t see how you can let any of those great things go. 🙂
    Also Buuunnnyyy gifs!! <3 <3

Right!? In my attempt to not be one of those girls who ditches their friends and family after they start dating, I’m now practically never at home. As if maintaining adult friendships aren’t hard enough…

Yeah good job there. Never ignore your girlfriends. It seriously hurts. 😂

Give it time. Balance will come back into your life. I stayed away for two years when I had my kiddos before I got back in!

Lol at the 🐰!!! And you’ll figure it out. I keep saying that I don’t have time be on DB, and watch dramas, and work 1.5 jobs, and spend time with kids and hubby, and exercise, but somehow I do! I don’t watch as many dramas as a lot of you do, just one or two, but just keepin’ it real!

Love how they broke the fourth wall right at the end. So cute. #FightMyWay

I usually enjoy scenes breaking the 4th wall.. but somehow I thought this one fell a bit flat and was not very well segued into the show… but FMW was such an awesomeee show!! 🙂

    2
    1

TRUE, but I liked it because it was awkward and came out of nowhere. But yeah, it would not be a good example for how to break the forth wall. LOL Not like House of Cards or Deadpool, or even Malcolm in the Middle, where it feels more natural and is in executed in such a way that it fits snugly into the scene.

Excited to see next week\’s episode of The Best Hit. We saw a lot of romance recently but with that cliffhanger with Ji-hoon, hopefully, we\’ll get solve more of the mystery behind Da-bong\’s past, etc.

That La La Land scene in the Best Hit though… But damn Yoon Shi-yoon is so good looking. I felt weird about Hyun-jae & Woo-seung b/c of the whole dad thing, but I don’t even care anymore. So cute.

I don’t really care about the romance but Yoon Shi Yoon alone is enough for me to keep watching. He looks so good in this!!

    4
    1

He really does! I feel like large part of the reason I do care about the romance is the looks he gives Woo-seung. Oh my goodness, this boy!

I don\’t follow Korean entertainment news (Soompi, Allkpop…), but now I get updates anyways thanks to beanies posting on fan walls. 😂 Song-Song couple is getting married…but OMG WHAT? (congrats!)

YUS! Sul-hee was so great this last episode of Fight My Way! She acted with strength, fairness, and honesty. Glad to see her stand up for herself and finally see that she deserves more.

This show. Yoon Shi-yoon is just killing it in this role.

The only good thing about Mondays is that there will be new episodes of Fight My Way.

(I’ve fallen behind on Lookout and Circle, but that’s what weekends are for :D)

The weather is beautiful, I became a Noble Idiot, found out that Dear Evan Hansen won 6 Tony’s yesterday, and I’m eating fried chicken for dinner. Today is a good day.

Levelled up to Noble Idiot! It’s fitting, since I’m smiling at my phone during my coffee break like an idiot as a result (my coworker thinks I’m nuts).

Caught up with The Best Hit today and, man, I’m really enjoying it so far! It’s hilarious! There’s enough substance, great characters, and mystery to make it not just a bunch of gags and jokes.

Can’t sleep, so I’m watching dramas. Only now I can’t stop. I have work in the morning, but tomorrow is Friday so it’s okay. Weekends are for sleep and coffee will be my best friend tomorrow. Hehehehe

Watching Suspicious Partner ep12 now. When he takes her wrist and pulls her hand away from her neck…seeing his big hand next to her small one was unexpectedly so swoon-worthy. Is it just me?

Can I just say beanies are such nice people? When we disagree, we do it through polite, well-explained debates followed by “I can see why you have a different opinion and that’s okay.” Much respect.❤

I was just thinking about this the other day—how this is such a great community, always so friendly and positive even when there are differing views. i love that!

yup we mostly are until some people begin to give downvotes…haha

hahaha yes! i JUST saw yuelie’s posts about her downvotes right after i posted this. so unfortunate. but still for the most part, this place is the sweetest <3

Lol yes. But compared to other communities, downvotes are not so common. Which on the interwebs is kind of a miracle. haha

there should be a upvote and a heart symbol instead of a downvote. jejej

The dislike button should be removed. There is no reason to use it here.

        2
        1

yes I really want dramabeans site to disable that because I’d like it to be a positive experience here for everybody and the dislike button can really harsh someone’s upbeat day. >_<

Hmmmm…. The Good Doctor ABC remake picked up for series + new teaser :O Thoughts?

I honestly do not know how to feel. I’m glad Korean dramas are getting the international recognition they deserve and all but I don’t know if they’ll be able to create the essence Kdramas have. To me its different. We’ll just have to wait and see. I hope DB does at least an overview of the episode telling us their thoughts.

    1
    1

Yeah, I feel like you’d have to watch it from a fresh perspective. I think because of culture, it’d be difficult to capture the same feeling. I do like American TV/Film but I have yet to see an American remake that’s really good, like @kaybee says…it’s never seems like a good thing. I’m going to still check it out of course, but with hesitation. The team and the cast seem decent for this. Might be good as it’s own thing but probably can’t expect the same charm/ essence.

It is never a good day when Americans decide to remake other countries’ movies. On the plus side, like @ketchup said, it’s nice to have them notice kdramas. Especially since China is out these days. I’d just rather they got less lazy and started reading subs, so the original works would get picked up by their broadcasting companies and seen by a wider public, instead of the soul-less remakes they tend to put out. (NOT saying that American movies, or even their remakes, are soul-less, just the ones that aren’t remakes of American movies/shows to begin with. And obviously not all people who don’t like to read subs are lazy.)

    1
    2

I totally agree @kaybee it would be awesome if they decided to broadcast the original material. It could happen, in a perfect world, maybe someday.

*calls up Thomas More* Yep, it’s definitely utopian, even Thomas thinks so.

        1
        1

I wonder how much they’ll actually advertise that it is based on a Korean drama, or if it’ll just be presented to the general public as a new show. D: I mean articles I have read so far do mention the drama, but how many people would actually go check it out I wonder. :/

However, I think the team/cast seem promising. Freddie Highmore is super talented (anyone watch Bates Motel?) and Daniel Dae Kim is producing. It’s nice to have some who’s Korean on the team. Hopefully he understands how to better capture what makes the story special from a Korean drama standpoint. I feel torn that the guy who created House is there. I really liked House, but it’s definitely a completely different show beside the doctor component.

It’s not the remake in general that is problematic, but the American TV format that creates problems. Kdramas remake other Asian countries shows all the time and vice versa. However, most Asian made tv shows are “mini series”, they have a finite episode length. American tv shows are serials and the typical season is 23 episodes. So once the first season ends, the content for following seasons will be original. Plus, if a show is a hit whose to say it won’t be on air for 10+ seasons.

    1
    2

      *cough* Grey’s Anatomy *cough*

      1
      1

Yeah!! I’m really curious how the format will translate (or not translate). It’ll have to be quite different since it wouldn’t be made with a finite end in mind.

They might have to drag the plot unnecessarily to fill on the episodes if they want to continue with more seasons

        0
        1

Either way it will be hard for them to create more seasons without creating original content. I am seeing this as less a possible remake and more a stealing a general storyline.

He is a good actor – I’m not saying he isn’t, but… I mean, after seeing Bates Motel… I’m a little uncomfortable with this choice. It JUST ended and they didn’t even try to change his looks a bit – so I’m still seeing a creepy serial killer. And remembering Joo won’s version of the character makes it even MORE wrong.

    0
    1

They filmed the pilot while he was still doing Bates Motel in Vancouver, if I recall. Maybe that’s why they didn’t change his looks? I do know what you mean though about seeing him as a serial killer, but I’m hoping he’s good enough to make us see him as a totally different character. It’s too early to really say. I mean, before Bates Motel I would have never thought he’d play that role so well given his previous work.

      1
      1

You’re totally right! It’s just a teaser after all, not the actual trailer. I do hope they give him a more homely look, something to smooth the transition and help us separate the characters – the actor as good as he is can’t do all the job after all. And then, well, I LOVED him in August Rush, where his character’s tone was much more similar in terms of warmth and innocence.

        2
        1

I loved August Rush too! Even though it’s totally cheesy. I really liked that movie 😀

Anybody else started Suspicious Partner yet? So far, I’m intrigued. (That cliffhanger doe.)

You can go through the fan posts to see who all has started SP. Like many said, it’s cute, but there is something missing. Let’s hope it continues to improve (if that cliffhanger is any indication)

Mhmm…it’s lacks a certain punch I feel. Even when stuff is happening it seems slow. Not sure why that is, but it’s cute and interesting enough still for me to stick around.

It’s kind of like My Secret Romance in that sense. There’s something lacking, but you still want to keep watching

Although, now that I think about it… I’d much rather have an office romance like Jim and Pam from the Office than one like in a kdrama. JAM is love <3

Unexpectedly discovered that one of my co-workers also watches kdramas. New office besties!?

Now where’s my office romance?

That someone who bickers a lot with you must be THE ONE. 👍😍

    1
    1

Korean dramas have taught me that bickering a good start to many relationships (Kidding! Well, maybe.). Not sure if that’s a good thing! LOL

The more you bicker, the more you can make-up and everything that comes with that! LOL.

        1

Hahaha… And it’s so much more swoon-worthy when the bickering stops and he does something romantic/nice/chivalrous/all of the above.
