Strawberry-sweet posters and moonlit teasers for My Secret Romance

Rom-com drama My Secret Romance looks like it’ll be right up my alley, all cute and fluffy with liberal amounts of romantic hijinks already included in the first teasers. One of my favorite guilty pleasure actors, Sung Hoon (Five Kids), stars as a chaebol-playboy-turned-cranky-department-head, and his main love interest is a lovely but conservative young nutritionist, who will be played by idol group Secret’s Song Ji-eun (Sweet Home, Sweet Honey).

The story starts with a sizzling one night stand between the two, but they don’t meet again until three years later, when they find each other working at the same company. He’s a workaholic senior executive, while she enters the nutrition department guiding the company cafeteria.

One teaser that was recently released is a short 15-second clip, while the other is an extended version. In the first clip, Sung Hoon tells Song Ji-eun not to worry because he’s not going to hit on her, but the scene shows otherwise as he reaches for her and drags her into a deep kiss. Her response is that it doesn’t matter anyway because they won’t see each other after today. But the copy reads: “Will one night turn into two nights?”

In the longer teaser, we witness their first meeting on a tour bus, where Song Ji-eun accidentally sits on Sung Hoon’s lap after a particularly bumpy pothole on the road. He doesn’t look too pleased at her intrusion of his personal bubble, but moments later they’re together on the beach, and they have dialogue exchange from the first teaser. They’re drinking wine together like friends, but when the afternoon sun turns into romantic moonlight, the atmosphere changes and the copy reads: “A sweet mistake that can’t be revealed? I thought it would be just once…!”

Then presumably three years later, Sung Hoon grabs Song Ji-eun’s wrist, twirling her in that stereotypical (but still heart-pounding) K-drama way. When he sits her down to talk, he tells her sternly “… because we were a one-night stand,” and her eyes glisten as she looks up at him.

So is he trying to deny further involvement with her? According to the poster above, “After her, his dating game turned to 0%” (hinting that he may still have unresolved feelings). Meanwhile, the caption on her side reads, “A woman who takes responsibility 100% for her man’s heart and body.” Below, the poster of them looking lovey-dovey in a convertible reads: “An unbelievable moment, one night. A world full of you, two nights.”

OCN’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama My Secret Romance will begin airing on April 17, but an earlier version will be released through the Oksusu mobile app on the Friday and Saturday prior to each OCN broadcast.

Maybe he's a sexy psychopathic chaebol, who lures young girls to sleep with him to drink thier blood to keep his youth but he fell asleep when he was with the heroine so she escaped safely. But he will finish his unfulfilled mission 3 years later!

too cheesy i pass, i've seen that in other dramas. Nothing new in dramaland, typical RomCom plot, and the actors well low level.

There was a Korean drama years back called Only You...centering around a pizza restaurant, and about how this young girl met, and had a one-night stand with a rich guy in Italy. It starred Jo Hyun jae and Han Chae young. It sounds similar; the girl had a child too, and they met a few years later.

@ YY:

TOTALLY! I was thinking about Only You too, when reading the synopsis. Same arrogant obnoxious chaebol too ... except there didn't seem to have a child in a background here.

But now that you guys say there is a child too .... yes this drama sounds like the exact same re-hash of Only You!

Only you was boring! The female lead destroyed that drama! BAD BAD BAD acting.

If you only do it once, you will always become pregnant - at least in dramaland. I wonder why for the rest of us it took more. Are these females exceptionally fertile?

Another one is "I Do I Do", where a drunken one-night stand is the start of a pregnancy.

Another one is "Another Oh Hye Young", although it's not the main couple.

Another one is "Only You" which I watched on YouTube

Another one is ... But oh, too many to mention.

Now I know why romances are so tame in kdrama land. They're trying to avoid this.

I will watch this, sometime i miss the cheese and the old tropes which lured me to kdrama in the first place.

This reminds me how we enjoyed Cinderella last year despite the childish plot lol.

I didn't enjoy it. The actors were not acting, the plot was so predictable you wanted to cry, like drawing by numbers, writing by copy-pasting from all other B quality k-dramas. And not only the plot but the details, the dialogues...
If you took away the internet and cell-phones, it could have been an American romcom from the 1950s. Plus, the visuals yes, there were a couple of good-looking guys but the girl was so plain, and the short hair and tomboyish outfits didn't help.

I liked Park So Dam's short haircut for a romcom but yes, the drama was snarkworthy and fun for just that, nothing else.

The dramaland in last few years has only two options of dramas; missy plots with good acting or "fine" plots with bad acting.

I wonder where have the good writers gone? Also, where have the acresses gone? I fed up with idoles.

I will watch this, I miss old fashion kdrama but please we need to solid plot.

True about where have all the good actresses gone from the 2009-13 era. Are they just being choosey with scripts or are they just not getting any offers because they are getting older? I dont follow kpop anymore so I dont even know who these people are but after one look at promotional posters I can tell if a show contains idols because all these idols are very young and look the same (pale face, dyed browny red hair, pointy chin). Dramas, with a very few exceptions, just seem a bit off these days and I often have to stop watching partway. Either the script is bad, no originality-stock characters, silly plot holes or the casting is all wrong such as a real actor being paired with an idol. Maybe I'm just getting too old for this stuff.

I don't follow Kpop but I can tell if the actress idol or not from her acting. Their weakness in acting occur when the sense has to have strong emotion feeling but all what they to is open the eyes and make their faces solid.

I just have finished My lovable girl. Krystal acting is disaster especially her male leading is Rain which I account him as very good actor. Through the episodes I can feel Rain's characters when he struggle but not Krystal. The same I feel in Moon lovers; IU was good in the beginning but when the script becomes series she struggle to show her feeling!

I believe the real actresses don't get offer recently. The majority of them start doing real live show like LDH which is shame.

That's unfair.
The female lead in "It's OK that's Love", "Pasta" and "Don't Dare to Dream (Jealousy Incarnate)
The female lead in "Another Oh Hye Young" and "Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim.
The female lead in "Oh my Venus" and "Tomorrow with you".

They are very good.

I like Sung Hoon, but I'm not crazy about him. Unfamiliar with Song Ji Eun. But I haven't watched many rom-coms lately so this one seems like a nice, light show.

The car poster is cooler and more eye-catching than the first one. Love the pretty artwork. :D

Sung Hoon looks so hot! I may just watch the drama for that reason. Also since it's the same PD as 1% of anything, I hope we get lots of OTP moments and developments and less meddling exes and relatives.

Same. Sometimes there are dramas whose premise sounds great and which is probably objectively better, but you don't feel any urge to watch it? (this is Rebel for me *sigh*) but get drawn to dramas like these which practically scream cliche and yet you hope for the best..

Please be good drama!

I'm going to check this out, cliches, cheese, and all. I am hoping that this will be a more grounded version of "Fated to Love You". This looks like it has the potential to be super cute. I just hope that there are no controlling parents here, because that is a pet peeve of mine.

I was just thinking how the cartoon poster looks the same as the 1% of Anything one and someone says it's the same PD. I suddenly find myself interested.

Cliche or not, that PD did an awesome job in 1% to be able to make something we've seen a million times into an organic relationship with hug-your-pillow-tight-squealing kind of romance.
