Revenge and regret turn former enemies into allies in Whisper
by girlfriday
Each new teaser for SBS’s legal revenge thriller Whisper peels back another layer in the relationship between detective Lee Bo-young (God’s Gift–14 Days) and judge Lee Sang-yoon (On the Way to the Airport). They’ll begin as allies and quickly become enemies when he betrays her, but in the latest teaser they’re already hinting at a turnaround for Lee Sang-yoon, who just might throw away the keys to the kingdom to save her.
The latest drama from the writer-director team behind Punch stars Lee Bo-young as a detective who wages war on the rich and powerful people who frame her father for a crime. She’s a devoted daughter whose trust in her father never wavers, and she fights the dangerous network of baddies to prove his innocence. (Yay, Action Lee Bo-young!) And Lee Sang-yoon is the one person she thinks she can trust with her father’s case, because he’s a principled judge known for doing the right thing.
But his principles waver when faced with an offer from law firm CEO Kim Gab-soo (The K2), to marry his daughter Park Se-young (Beautiful Mind) and inherit the company. That choice gets Lee Sang-yoon two new enemies: lawyer Kwon Yul (Bring It On, Ghost) who wants that spot for himself, and Lee Bo-young who thought he’d be the one person who couldn’t be bought.
The latest teaser opens with Lee Bo-young saying that Lee Sang-yoon erased the only evidence that could’ve cleared her father’s name. She then reads the news that he’s about to become Kim Gab-soo’s son-in-law and we see her break down in tears. Kwon Yul warns his new rival Lee Sang-yoon, “Your life will disappear, and it’ll be a world where principled judge Lee Dong-joon [Lee Sang-yoon’s character] misuses the law for power.”
When Lee Sang-yoon discovers that Lee Bo-young is headed for a trap, he warns her but she goes running into the lion’s den anyway. She tells him, “You were right—we’re destroying each other.” He gets a call that she’s in danger as a horde of gangsters descends on her car, and Lee Sang-yoon races to save her. She says in voiceover, “Were you ever sorry, just once?” He thinks as he goes to her, “I promise to tell you—that I was sorry.” The teaser’s copy reads: “You were my enemy, and my only nest.” And you betrayed herrrrrrrr! *shakes fist*
Whisper will take over the Monday-Tuesday slot that’ll be vacated by Defendant. You can catch a glimpse of Ji Sung visiting his wife’s set in the stills below.

Indeed, they are adorable together. I hope Whisper also receive lots of love from both knetz and international fans, just like Defendant.

They're honestly couple goals! Ji Sung also posted a picture of Lee Boyoung with his prison cellmates on instagram, and there's more pictures of him watching her act over here.

The note below reads that Defendants's FD sometimes has to call him over because he's so stuck on her set, lol. And she's just as bad xD

I really wasn't going to watch this, because it gives similar vibes to Defendant which i loved but I didn't want to watch two shows with similar vibes back to back, but after seeing the trailers and the cast i am intrigued.
Loved Wife and husband photo, they're a talented couple.
Ji Sung is so immersed in his role that he looks like Jeong Woo (his character in Defendant) in the photo he doesn't look like the celebrity JS.

Pure melo and heartwenching story isn't really my cup of tea, I hate sad stories personally, but I really want to try this one for LBY, it's been a long time since I watch a with her and a drama like this :/

I miss her in "I Hear Your Voice". I can't wait for the show. I also like the second female lead in any role she plays.
I never thought i'd say this, but yes they look good together.

That picture of Ji Sung and Lee Bo Young made me unreasonably happy, and they're not the only ones in the picture!!! Korean celebrities rarely are on the red carpet together with their partners ( I like it that way) except co-stars.
Lee Sang Yoon looks mighty fine in suit. Like he was made to wear them. He also looks good in leather jacket and jeans. And white t-shirts. And black ones too. And cooperate shits also. And long coats. And.... let's not get carried away.
That screencap of Lee Bo Young crying has me itching to comfort her( that's not as creepy as it reads).
I hope this drama is at least, half of Defendant's ratings, if not more. Please God!

It seems like there has been quite a bit of promotion for this drama. More than I remember for Defendant or RDTK so that's promising.

Why does the editing and filter for all the teasers for this show look like someone making a FMV in Final Cut 7 circa 2010?
Is Kwon Yul only allowed to play creeps now?

I'm kinda like "Should I take a break from thrillers....?!" But then I'm excited to see Lee Bo Young and Lee Sang Yoon again. Excited for their acting and looking forward to their passionate struggle from enemies to allies~ :D
I've seen Kwon Yul play such annoying characters before so it's not gonna be hard to dislike him here. xP
Gonna watch the new OCN drama thriller Tunnel too... *_*
Anyway, I hope both these new shows do well in the ratings especially Whisper. At least double digits please.
