Tomorrow With You: Episode 2
by gummimochi
Mm, that’s better. We get answers to some of our lingering questions about our resident time-traveler with an hour that spends more time in the here and now. His personal search for the answers to his own life can spur him to jump from one time to another at any given moment, but he’ll quickly find out that messing with fate will come with its own set of consequences and revelations he never even dreamed of.
EPISODE 2 RECAP
Seven years ago, March 2009. So-joon was riding the subway with his parents and moved away from them to escape Dad’s nagging. In the same car, Ma-rin was sighing at another set of embarrassing candid photos of her online, when she heard a camera phone click behind her.
She confronted the young man across from her—So-joon—and accused him of taking a photo of her. He denied it, and their ensuing argument drew attention from the other passengers, who recognized her. She insisted that they get off at the next stop to continue the conversation away from the crowd.
Although the memory is fuzzy, So-joon narrates that he thought getting off at the next stop with the strange woman he was arguing with was a chance for him to slip away from his folks.
So they got off, but Ma-rin stopped him from leaving and demanded to see his phone. He insisted that he didn’t take a photo of her and refused to show her his phone.
She told him to delete it, but then they heard the blast of the subway car explode on the tracks. Shell-shocked, So-joon ran toward the tunnel. He narrates, “Thanks to that woman whose name I didn’t know, I survived.”
On the 49th day following his parents’ deaths, So-joon returned to that tunnel to bid them farewell. “That’s when it happened,” So-joon tells us. An intense, stabbing headache overwhelmed him and he disappeared in the tunnel, only to reappear in a subway car—much to the passengers’ alarm—still in pain.
That was his first trip to the future, to early 2015. When he exited Seoul Station, Doo-shik immediately recognized him as an ill-prepared time-traveler. Giving him a warm coat, he advised So-joon to always carry summer and winter clothes with him until the newbie time-traveler could control what time he wants to jump to.
Doo-shik somehow knew about his parents’ death, which made So-joon draw back in fear. He clucked at So-joon for speaking in banmal and called himself “someone who knew you’d come to this place and time.”
From that day forward, he taught So-joon everything he knew about time-travel: Take the subway from Namyeong Station to Seoul Station to travel to the future, and the opposite way to travel back to the present.
So-joon also learned that there were consequences to time travel: If he were to meet his future self, his time-traveling self would start to disappear. Most importantly, he realized that Doo-shik already knew when he’d die in the future.
Now we pick up where we left off: So-joon travels three months into the future and learns that he’s now married to Ma-rin. He averts his eyes as she sidles up to him in her robe and tells him that it’s been two whole days since their honeymoon.
He shrinks back when she caresses his face and giggles that he overexerted himself last night (snerk), but then it occurs to her that his outfit looks different from this morning. Still flustered, he tells her to wear some clothes and tries to draw away, but she pulls him back and trips, making her robe slide off one shoulder… and So-joon covers his eyes. Ha.
Pulling him back toward her, she coyly asks him to do “that,” and he stares at her wide-eyed, while she says she wants “Kkot-soon-ie” (kkot means “flower”). So-joon’s utterly baffled expression cracks me up. He thinks to himself, What is that? A dog’s name? Bahahaha.
He’s told that “Kkot-soon-ie” is his lovey-dovey nickname for her, and he wonders to himself if his future self has lost it. Ma-rin bashfully says she loves it when he calls her that and waits eagerly for him to say it… but So-joon bolts.
Back in the present, Ma-rin visits her friend OH SO-RI, who runs a piano academy, and ha—one of her students is playing the Wedding March. She tells So-ri all about her encounters with So-joon, and they both find it strange that a guy would still want to see Ma-rin after witnessing her inebriated behavior firsthand.
Meanwhile, So-joon tells his buddy Ki-doong that Ma-rin is so strange that she can’t possibly be his type—even if they were stuck on a deserted island, he’d keep to himself. Ki-doong chuckles in disbelief and mentions that they got married anyway.
So-joon is unable to wrap his head around the idea of being married—to Ma-rin of all people, at that—which prompts Ki-doong to ask why he saved her life in the first place. Unable to divulge the truth, So-joon said he had his reasons.
So-ri scolds her friend for even entertaining the idea that So-joon might like her, but they’re both surprised when he calls to say they should meet up. Now. That’s enough for So-ri to believe that So-joon has totally fallen for Ma-rin, who now has an extra skip in her step.
So when they meet up in a cafe, Ma-rin wonders if So-joon is infatuated with her while So-joon wonders what made him marry this woman. She says he’s staring, and he tosses back that this is how he always look at people. But when he asks if she doesn’t have a boyfriend, she wonders if he wants to know about the men in her life.
She plays it cool, and So-joon immediately asks if she thinks she’ll continue to stay single or if there’s a guy she’s keeping on a hook or someone she hopes to marry or even a backup in case both parties were single by a certain age. She shrugs off that question, then coquettishly asks why he wants to know.
He explains that he just wants to help her out, and because he thinks it’d be dangerous for someone like her to drink alone, she should at least have a drinking buddy. She says she understands what he means—he must’ve thought she was lonely.
But So-joon insists that his intentions are noble, like a friend, and Ma-rin pipes up that no guy and girl can ever be just friends. So he goes for a different angle, suggesting that they share a friendly noona-dongsaeng relationship and tries calling her “noona”…
…And Ma-rin giggles in her seat and teases him for being so bad at this. She says there’s no need to press the point because she understands how he feels about her. Realizing that she’s jumped to the wrong conclusion, So-joon uses the more direct approach: “Don’t like me, no matter what. You can’t ever like me.”
“Okay, I won’t like you,” she agrees in a sing-songy voice. Her day is about to get even better because she’s called in for a gig, and Ma-rin unabashedly instructs So-joon to drive her home to grab her gear then take her to the shoot.
She marches up to a compact car, asking if this one is his. Scoffing, he unlocks his fancy SUV, then belatedly wonders why he’s taking orders from her.
So-joon helps her carry her stuff to the photo shoot, where he’s mistaken for a model. He declines participating in the shoot and marches out instead, fuming that he’ll ignore Ma-rin from here on out.
Meanwhile, So-joon’s friend Se-young deals with an uncooperative foreman at a residential construction site. She takes her frustrations out on her father, SHIN SUNG-GYU (Oh Kwang-rok), but Dad says they’re already exceeding their budget and is too ashamed to ask So-joon for more funds.
After Ma-rin’s shoot, the designer is reluctant to maintain a working relationship with Ma-rin unless she can convince that handsome fellow earlier to model her fashion line. Ma-rin later dishes to her online shopping mall model friend BIT-NA that while So-joon would likely agree, it’d feel like she’s taking advantage of him when she’s unsure of her own feelings.
So-joon arrives at a fancy bar in time to overhear his drunk friend Sung-min wonder when So-joon will get here to pick up the tab. Suffice it to say that he isn’t the least bit sympathetic to Sung-min’s relationship woes, and when Sung-min says he knows nothing about love, he retorts that love definitely isn’t breaking up with a girl because you get sick of her.
Ki-doong intervenes before the argument escalates any further, and So-joon chucks his card on the table before leaving.
When Ki-doong follows him upstairs to return his card, So-joon reveals that he was apathetic to Sung-min’s story because he already saw his future: Sung-min will get back together with his girlfriend, only to leave her for another woman. Ki-doong points out that their friend doesn’t know all of that—right now, his present girlfriend and heartache is all he sees.
“While you live in both the present and future, all we have is the now,” Ki-doong says. “Everyone else in the world lives that way, so I don’t know what to say if that seems like a joke to you. Must you always live your life tied to the future?”
So-joon has nightmares that night: a car toppling over his, blurry lights, and seeing a bloodied Ma-rin being taken away on a gurney. Wait a minute—he’s dreaming of an experience he hasn’t even been through yet?
He wakes with a start and steps outside for some fresh air. He appears to be in a better mood when he arrives at the office, though, and ignores Ma-rin’s text about meeting her at a cafe that afternoon.
Ma-rin rehearses how she’ll ask So-joon for the modeling favor while sitting alone in the cafe, but it isn’t long before she’s recognized, and her ears perk up at the mention of an article. She checks her phone and sure enough, there’s another article about her drunk antics.
She immediately calls the reporter and tears into him for habitually writing a new piece about her whenever people start to lose interest in her. Exasperated, she says she quit acting because she was terrible at it, not because she grew up to be a disappointment.
She raises her voice when he threatens to hang up, and stares directly at the gossiping patrons while yelling that it’s because of these headlines that people keep talking about her sad, pathetic life. She says they’ll likely meet in court one day before hanging up, and confronts the people whispering about her at the next table.
She dares them to insult her to her face or write hateful comments online because then at least she could report them for cyber bullying. But they shrink back, and she storms out.
Hours later, Ki-doong cracks up to read the latest article on Bap-soon. Ma-rin calls just then, and So-joon wonders if she’s still waiting for him at the cafe. But when he picks up, she apologizes if he felt like he was stood up today.
She’s actually having a beer by the river, and wonders if he’s being quiet because he’s still disappointed. He honestly tells her there’s no need to be sorry because he didn’t go, and she thanks him for being so polite to say that.
So-joon hopes that Ma-rin will just take his words at face value, but Ma-rin sorrowfully remarks, “I want to jump into that river.” That gets his attention, and she laughs—she was merely joking and thanks him for making her laugh.
Even though she feels lonely, she says she’d rather be alone today. She then realizes that he already hung up and figures that he’s upset with her. And he is, but more so because he thought he was being clear and she still misunderstood him.
So-joon heads to time-traveler Doo-shik’s apartment, knowing full well that he’s at home. We see that the walls are filled with calendars, news articles, and photos, and So-joon leaves a note for Doo-shik to contact him. Inside, Doo-shik makes a log on his voice recorder that So-joon stopped by today at June 13, 2016 at 9 PM. Curious.
A drunk Ma-rin tries calling So-joon, then an accidental run-in with a stranger causes her bag to spill onto the ground. So-joon finds her on the ground and yells at her for eating chestnuts, and she correctly identifies them as dates.
She slurs that he’s lacking in general knowledge, but he argues that there’s nothing normal about eating raw dates on the street. She points out that he’s the one pursuing her—after all, he came here too.
So-joon reminds her that she called him saying that she was lost—didn’t it ever occur to her that people call her Bap-soon because she’s putting herself in these situations? He pulls her up to her feet, and is surprised to see her upset.
It’s now that she explains that she asked to see him because she needed his help to continue working with the designer they met earlier today. She admits that she lied about being lost and wanted to petition his help in person. But now she feels embarrassed, and thinks that even if she were to die, she’d still be a target of ridicule.
So-joon draws closer as she starts to cry, telling her that there’s no point worrying about death; she should live well now. Says the man constantly worried about his tragic death. As he walks her home, she tells him that she opened a five-year savings account and plans to use that money to emigrate somewhere with the fewest number of Koreans possible.
He tells her not to bother saving, since she doesn’t know what might happen by then. She says she doesn’t live day by day like a mayfly, and he says she should: “Do everything you want to do, and eat whatever you want. Go date a ton of men.” Life is short, he says.
Mom comes outside looking for Ma-rin, who introduces So-joon as a friend. She quickly ushers her mother inside when Mom scolds him for making her daughter drink so much.
Mom explains that she’s here because she read the latest article on Ma-rin, who by now is unaffected by it. She’s arranged a seon (a blind date with an intention of marriage) with a reporter, and screeeams at Ma-rin for all the shame she’s caused.
Exasperated, Ma-rin apologizes for being a shameful daughter, but reminds Mom that she was the one who dragged her to the broadcasting station when she was six. Even when everyone else, including her, didn’t want her to act, Mom was the one who insisted.
She tearfully says she can’t even remember what led her down this path to becoming a pathetic adult, unable to fulfill her mother’s ambitions. But Mom gets defensive and leaves in a huff while Ma-rin sobs… and we see So-joon sitting just out the window, having heard everything.
Some time later, Se-young plops down her birthday gift in front of So-joon, who belatedly recalls that he bought it for her. She asks where he bought the shoes since they don’t fit, and he tells her to keep them because they can’t be returned, since he doesn’t remember where he got them from.
She asks him for a different gift then—specifically a donation to her non-profit organization, Happiness for Humanity. She’s having trouble getting the funds to pay for the construction for the residence buildings, but So-joon cuts her off, saying that he’ll do it and asks her to write up a proposal for him.
She can tell that he’s not in the best mood, and when he gets up to leave, she wonders why he’s so busy lately.
That’s because So-joon has agreed to stand in as a model for Ma-rin, and Ma-rin rushes down to the studio upon hearing the news. He acts all gruff when he sees her and feels awkward about standing in front of a camera, but then cracks a smile when he sees her jump to get her gear. D’aw.
Once the shoot begins, she directs him to loosen up and smile, and he comments that this modeling thing is much more difficult than he thought it’d be. She praises him afterward, and when she instinctually climbs into his car, he tells her to get out because he didn’t say he’d give her a ride.
She gets out and bashfully thanks him for being so considerate. He comes right out with it: “I’ve never liked you. If you thought that I did, then you were mistaken. I kept being honest, but you kept misunderstanding me, so I thought it’d be best to make myself clear.”
Ma-rin tries to mask her disappointment by playing it cool, saying that she was only playing along. But So-joon isn’t done—he’d like it if they didn’t contact one another or run into each other: “Let’s end things here.”
Unable to look at him, she asks him to leave first, then asks why he came here today to help her out. “Because you acted pitiful,” So-joon honestly replies. “I wanted to be of help one last time.”
But before he can leave, she asks for one last thing: his name. She thinks this farewell is pretty harsh when she doesn’t even know his name. But So-joon says nothing and drives away.
When So-joon tells Doo-shik that he plans on changing his own future without Ma-rin, he’s told that it’s no ordinary fate for two people to die at the same time. Doo-shik thinks he should get to know Ma-rin some more before writing her off, but So-joon has made up his mind and asks Do-shik to investigate his death further.
Doo-shik replies that death is something out of his control, and yells at So-joon for constantly asking for his help: “It’s your life, not mine! I’m not your father and you don’t listen to me anyway!”
“Then you shouldn’t have told me how I should live or die!” So-joon hollers back. Doo-shik admits that he’s right, then inquires why So-joon is wearing a sweater in this sweltering heat. So-joon explains that he came back from another trip, and Doo-shik chuckles that he sure is diligent.
As Ma-rin goes out and takes photos on her own, she tells us that a month passed without hearing from So-joon. She ends up going on that blind date with the reporter, and laughs when he asks what it was like when she studied abroad.
She says she’s actually a photographer for an online shopping mall, and apologizes on her mother’s behalf if he got the wrong idea about her. She offers to pay for their drinks as a show of apology, but then he offers to pay for dinner in return, admitting that he was surprised that she’d agree to go out with him since he’s a reporter.
At home, Ki-doong nags So-joon about attending Director Kim’s wedding today, whining that So-joon will look bad in front of the employees if he keeps skipping out on important company-related events. But So-joon would rather not go because someone he doesn’t want to see will be there. Ki-doong chases his buddy around the house trying to yank his clothes off, pestering him to get changed.
At the wedding, bride Gun-sook is crying a river of tears in her dressing room. Evidently these are joyous tears because she’s so proud of herself for successfully getting married today, though her bridesmaids couldn’t care less.
Ma-rin fetches Gun-sook an iced coffee and sincerely congratulates the bride for attaining her personal life goal to marry a rich man. But then Gun-sook starts coughing and stains her dress with coffee.
Thinking fast, Ma-rin tells her to take off the dress so they can spot-treat the stain. She runs out with it and takes a spill in the lobby, where Ki-doong helps her to her feet. And that’s when she sees him—So-joon dressed in a suit, congratulating Director Kim on his wedding day.
So-joon looks at Ma-rin before his attention is turned away, and So-ri marvels at how young the groom’s boss is. Ma-rin is shocked when So-joon is introduced to other people as the CEO, and he walks right past her without acknowledging her. A moment later, Ki-doong belatedly recalls that the woman outside is the notorious Bap-soon, and says it seemed as if she was looking at So-joon.
Neither So-joon nor Ma-rin look at each other during the ceremony, and afterward, So-joon waits for the subway at Namyeong Station. But the train comes and goes, and he stands there, unmoving.
At the same time, Ma-rin stands at the edge of the sidewalk, not moving when the pedestrian light turns green. Her blind date finds her standing there, so they go for a walk, and he asks if the wedding today tired her out.
She asks whether or not he knows of the real estate investment company MyReits. He says it’s a well-known firm, and asks if she plans on investing in that company. He can tell that she’s in low spirits and wonders if he’ll still be able to interview her.
He plans on writing a tell-all piece that allows Ma-rin to speak freely, in hopes that it will put her in a positive light. Uh oh, this sounds like a red flag. She shyly says no one would be interested, but he presses, adding that it might be even better with some dramatic flair.
Meanwhile, So-joon travels to the future on a snowy day to an empty house free of wedding photos, which has him remark that things have returned to normal.
As Ma-rin divulges in the present that she was one of the survivors of the 2009 subway explosion at Namyeong Station, So-joon looks up Ma-rin’s name on the internet. He finds the tell-all interview that Ma-rin is giving now, about how she got off the subway car after arguing with a stranger.
It dawns on So-joon that Ma-rin was the one who saved his life when they both got off at the Namyeong subway stop seven years ago. As he enters the Seoul Station stop, he thinks, “You and I miraculously survived that night, and you and I will die together. What is this? What is our connection?”
As the reporter walks Ma-rin home, he teases her for being hung up on what people will think of her once the interview is published. She hopes her story will humanize her, and says that not caring about what other people think is easier said than done.
She comments that time has flown by; it’s nearly autumn. He says she should try dating then, and asks her out to a movie. Niiiccce.
But then So-joon calls out, “Song Ma-rin!” and marches up to her and drags her away. When she finally gets him to let go, she demands to know why he’s shown up out of the blue.
She points out that he ignored her at the wedding, and he’s the one who wanted nothing to do with her. Remembering that he never gave her his name, So-joon says in a shaky voice, “My name…”
Ma-rin cuts him off, saying that there’s no need to feel sorry since they weren’t involved or anything. But So-joon loudly states again, “My name…”
“I’m… Yoo So-joon,” he finally says, his voice wavering. “But… what are you?”
COMMENTS
Oh boy, a much better second impression. Not to say that I didn’t enjoy the premiere, but that first hour pulled us in so many directions that it felt fast and furious, moving us through the story at blazing speed that it took a few rewinds and replays to get straight. So I’m relieved that this episode took time to explain the time travel rules of this world.
I had an inkling that So-joon was the stranger Ma-rin got into an argument with all those years ago, and now we know that night was the beginning of a new chapter of his life. As it turns out, his relationship with Doo-shik began as soon as his ability to time travel began, and I find it interesting that he had a teacher to teach him the ropes. But it certainly seems like Doo-shik knows a great deal more than he’s letting on, and he’s tracking most or if not all of So-joon’s comings and goings. Because of this, I can’t help but question his reasons for urging So-joon to find Ma-rin and keep her in his life. I have a number of theories in my head about Doo-shik that either paints him in a positive or negative light, but one thing that I can say for certain is that there is an ulterior motive behind all of his pointed comments to So-joon.
But moving onto the romance, I really do love our leads here in Lee Je-hoon and Shin Mina. I could feel a palpable chemistry from the start, and both their bickering and cutesy misunderstandings have me in a fit of giggles. A part of me wishes that we could’ve seen more of the future where So-joon and Ma-rin were newlyweds, but with so much of the story ahead of us, who’s to say that we won’t revisit that future or make that our present? I love how both actors have naturally stepped into these characters, though I must admit that I keep thinking that Lee Je-hoon will suddenly pull out a walkie-talkie (thanks Signal).
I adored the cafe scene where So-joon was trying to set clear boundaries and Ma-rin was caught up in her own idealistic ideas of romance. I almost can’t blame So-joon for cutting ties with her the way he did, though it did hurt to hear him say that he helped her out one final time because he felt sorry for her. My heart did break for Ma-rin while she was arguing with her mother about how a decision she never made for herself as a child left her feeling trapped well into her adult years. I’m impressed by her resilience, which masks a lot inner pain, and I’m relieved that she’s met people who try to draw her out of her shell.
While my heart does ache for Ma-rin, I see why So-joon tried to set himself on a different path away from hers. His motive for saving her from the Truck of Doom wasn’t entirely selfless, since he has tunnel vision about where his own future is headed. But what I’m hoping is that he realizes that he’s not the only agent of fate when it comes to a future that involves two people. I’m glad that he has a good friend like Ki-doong by his side, who not only adds in some comic relief, but is there to tell his time-traveling buddy like it is and remind him that while he’s busy criticizing choices made in the present because of what will happen in the future, being in the here and now is all the rest of us have.

I guess most of our questions were already answered with episode 2 but i'm still curious about the other Time Traveller,if he is indeed Future SJ,like most of us predict and does it to save Ma Rin rather than him as priority why doesn't he fade when he meets Present SJ,and how he lives inthe same timeline as him...I must say i love Ma Rin,she is so hilarious and i like the couple even more, like SJ is gravitating towards her even without him knowing...It really is indeed fate between them as both of them saved the other one that sad day...He saved her because of the so called photos and she saved him because of the pretext to get down...I must say i can't wait for Seo In Guk OST to come out,it's plain beautiful and so sad...I guess SJ doesn't remember Ma Rin because even then he didn't really have an intrest in his surroundings nor people so along with time, grief and desinterest made him totally forget her...I guess SJ lesson will be to live in the present rather than the future and value those around him in his arc

Maybe time traveler teacher isn't SJ, but SJ's son. He doesn't look enough like SJ to actually be him.

The reverse of Darth Vader. LOL.
If that's the case, would it be like Kyle (Leo & Piper son from Charmed tv series), who came from the future who to protect his older brother and prevent him to go to the dark side..
Anyways, I still think Doo-Shik (the time traveler ahjusshi) is suspicious tho..

Well that's an interesting theory.
But if this is true, then unlike So-joon who only can travel to future, Do-shik is capable of time traveling to the past?

yes! So it would make sense that Do-shik would record a massage to his past self (not future) indicating that So-joon was going to come knocking on his door and not to answer at that time. Perhaps if he answered, SJ wouldn't have gone to meet MaRin and maybe that needed to happen for future developements.
Regardless of whether or not SJ and MR die in the future, they still have plenty of time to make a baby.

Now that I think about it, it would make sense that DO is the son because...
A. Motivation: A son would go to the past to help his father (possibly save his father and his mother from an early death)
B. According to the established rules of time travel, a person can't travel past his own life span. Since SJ will only be a couple years older at the time of his death,DO can't be him. However if DO can travel to the past, it is possible that he is the son.
C. Maybe it isn't that SJ can't travel to the past, maybe he just doesn't know how. Since his teacher is DO, DO could have purposely withheld that information.

Point letter D:
SJ can't be DO because time travel rule number 3
If he were to meet his future self, his time-traveling self would start to disappear.
If DO were SJ's future self, he would have disappeared the first time they met.

I like the son theory, and it puts a nice ironic twist to the "I’m not your father and you don’t listen to me anyway!" line.

Yes I like it too, and nice catch on that line, LC. I think the ability must be inherited from parent to child 49 days after the parent's death when the sprit, from what I understand of Buddhism (not much), permanently separates from the materual plane. That's why he inherits the ability 49 days after his parents' death. And if the other time traveller is his son, it explains why he is not only interested in him but interested and knowledgeable about hiz death as well, because that's when he himself inherits the powers.

I do feel like the answers presented in this episode were pretty obvious already. Like So Joon and Ma Rin having survived the train accident/blast together. I wouldn't have been able guess his parents died in it, but I did think that must be when his time-travelling ability began.
Which is why I'm glad it's all out in the open - even to So Joon. It means (hopefully) that the show will move fast, and that deeper questions will arise.

They should have presented it the other way around. At first, tell us the story of how So-joon gained his time traveling ability. And then bam... reveal it that the woman who pick a fight with him was Ma-rin.
That way, we would've gotten the confirmation at the same time with So-joon and finished watching episode 2 with a stronger impression.

Yeah, I really like that the show didn't drag out giving us those answers because it's the kind of mystery that the audience can solve with just a bit of theorizing. With Goblin, the audience had already figured out several of the mysteries, but the characters took like 10 episodes to catch up. It could have been so much better if it had moved faster.

I'm thinking maybe Mi Ran's dad? He seemed more invested in taking care of her than him.
But I like the idea of him being future Se Joon. There's an added romantic idealism that some time in the future, Se Joon cares too much for her.
And even the reverse Darth Vader is a cool idea too!

We have the same theory. Since we haven't seen Mi Ran's dad yet, plus the rule that they can only time-travel to the future.
When he said "I'm not your father", maybe he meant "I'm not your father but your father-in-law." LOL
But the "son" theory could also be theory ONLY IF they can also time travel in the past and Doo Shik haven't told SJ yet.

On son theory, is kinda impossible since they can't go to the past
also on miran father theory, sorry to break that theory since oneps 1, the time travel ability stopped at the time the time traveller died. So no one can go beyond his time of death. If miran father died 9 years ago along with SJ parents, he couldn't posibbly jumped to their point of time (2016).
So in the end DS will remain a mystery unless somewhere in the story there will be revealed the skill to go to the past. N the future son theory has high posiblity

I think it related to Buddhism
When someone passes away, in addition to a funeral service that usually occurs three or seven days after the death, there is a ceremony on the 49th day.
-- Traditionally, the period of 49 days after someone dies is seen as a time for that person to check their consciousness and digest their karma. According to Buddhist teaching the bodhisattva Ji Jang Bosal helps the deceased during these 49 days to perceive their karma so when they return they are reborn to help this world, rather than continue in the cycle of birth and death.
This also resembled in Kdrama 49 days when the main lead gets 49 days as a spirit to find the way to continue her life in the world after her death.
TL;DR The days before the spirit goes to the nirvana

Some questions were answered in this episode, and that’s a small improvement in terms of story-telling. Perhaps I need to re-adjust my expectations as we don’t have Kim Won-seok and Kim Eun-hee at the helm here. I do like this episode better than the first so hopefully it will improve from here.
Still can’t stand Shin Min-ah’s aegyo-ing. Don’t get me wrong, I can accept a small dose of aegyo when it is done right. A recent example will be Kim Go-eun as Ji Eun-tak in Goblin. You know the scene in Canada when she was walking in the maple tree park and said to Shin “Lucky for you to have met a fairy” then pointed to herself and said “Tinkerbell”. I found that effortlessly cute. That’s aegyo to me. But MR’s “AAAAANNNGGG…” may have been acceptable if you’re a 3 year old girl pestering your daddy to buy you some lollies, but as a 30 year old girl? JUST. NO. And why is she so delusional? I was cheering and thanking drama gods when So-joon finally decided to clear all her misunderstandings with that conversation, and she finally got it and toned down the “You must have fallen head over heels for me because I’m so pretty” conceited act, and I warmed up to her. SMA’s acting was also very good in the wedding hall scene after meeting and being ignored by So-joon, as it suits the melancholy tone of the drama. In short, I like her when she’s a little less crazy.
Speaking about melancholy, I think this PD needs to get some tips from Goblin’s PD, because while I often find Goblin to be so draggy for no good reason, it doesn’t feel as boring.

SMA does overdoing it but it's seen as unnatural and supposed to feel that way imo,
KGE is unnatural and weird aegyo and supposed to feel natural, except it's not and backfired,
so I don't think SMA needs lesson,
both needs lesson but to say that KGE is better is reaching

It also makes me feel like this drama is going to turn into a tragedy, which i really hope it doesn't.

I think aegyo is one of those things that can feel unnatural to one observer and really cute to another. Even in real life lovey dovey moments, what I find unnatural and cheesy as an observer is actually something very natural.
I felt that KGE's aegyo was often off putting, but in both Eun Tak and Marin's cases, the aegyo is supposed to feel a little forced such it's used to both cover up (for themselves) and reveal (for the audience) a troubling sense of isolation and a desire to live out a normal girl's life. And I don't think Marin's ever been in a romantic relationship before and SoJoon was just appearing all over the place and doing these odd things that could be misinterpreted. I was really sad when he cleared things up in such a brusque way and she tried to pretend she was joking all along.

Is she really at fault for thinking he likes her though? Think about some of the things he has done... When he saved her, he said he thought she was so pretty and wanted coffee with her, he kept showing up randomly around her, he took care of her when she was drunk, he came to her the second time she was drunk and walked her home, he even did the modelling gig for her... under all normal circumstances, these are 'I have fallen so bad for you'.
We might know that he had ulterior motives for some of the things he said or did, but she did not.

Before the conversation he has tried to clear it up with her multiple times though. Such as in the cafe (when he offered to set her up with any guy she's interested in, then attempted to friend-zone and brother-zone her), and with the phone call (he said he stood her up) but she just ignored all those and kept going with her own interpretations of his actions. It might make for a fun(?) misunderstanding to some, but it's just frustrating to me. I like that after she gets his clear message, she drops it.

I HATED the aegyofrom KG E in Goblin and the bit we've seen from SM so far. I need to see KGE in another drama quick so I can separate her from that character. Why is aegyo even a word? It just seems to be whining, and most kids I know would be hollered at for doing it. Their parents wouldn't even think it cute, let alone a boyfriend. But I guess this is one of those cultural differences I'd have to get over if I ever lived in S Korea. It's just so nails on a blackboard cringeworthy to me.

SMA is not overdoing her role but just playing what the script calls for.
Her character Ma Rin is a person ridiculed by public for being an one-time success. She is constantly in the limelight for her 'unruly pathetic behaviour' and has only bad articles written about her. She doesn't have good friends nor an understanding mom, thus making her to bottle up her emotions. She is trying hard to stand on her own two feet and erase that image of child artist. She wants people to recognise her for herself and not as " Bap Soon, the girl who asked for rice".
Combining all these factors, her only way out of reality is alcohol, which though lightens her bad mood only worsens her situation. Her silliness that perks up when she drinks is just a facade to hide the inner feelings that she sub-consciously spills out. A sombre Ma rin is sensible and brave(refer scenes where she confronts that guy in the cafe and So-joon when he dragged Ma rin after cutting ties with her.)
Although I'm not in favour of the scene at the river where she assumes So-joon waited for her, I do get why she did that. In that second the only thing that boosted her confidence was the thought that someone likes her despite all her down comings.

Also, I loved Goblin's cinematography, but overall disliked the directing unfortunately. The constant music video moments actually interrupted the flow for me and sometimes even sapped emotion from the narrative at points.
After Goblin, in fact, I'm practically bowing down to this director for relying more on instrumentals. But maybe that's because I'm really enjoying the calm, introspective feel. I do wish the director would use a bit more vocal music, like he did back in HSKoS.

When I was watching Legend of The Blue Sea, I couldn't help feeling that Jun Ji-hyun didn't fit playing an innocent and child-like character like Chung. And Shin Min-ah was the first one who came through my mind when I was imagining the actress who could pull Chung character off better.

Are you me? MGIAG was part of the reason I had a hard time getting into Legend, for the exact same reasons you mentioned. I even wrote a comment like that on the first recap of that drama.
I will forever be baffled at how she managed not to make me cringe as Gu Miho, when she was already 26. She gave that character a very genuine, child-like innocence that could only really work in that kind of role. I just found her completely winning and adorable.
After that, as Arang and now as Ma-rin, she hasn't been doing aegyo in the same way though. Both male leads cringe when she tries it at first, because it's supposed to be hilariously forced and unnatural. And, yet, I have to say, even when she overdoes it, I personally still find it adorable. Haha, later on, I'm sure it will grow on him too...

The other interpretation I didn't like from SMA was how she was taking her professional photos of the supermodel in episode 1. The way she was standing and moving (her hips/legs) , while holding the camera felt unnatural. But that is really a minor thing, else she's doing a good job in my opinion.

I find this drama very intriguing, and the fantasy concept is kept simple but also mysterious. I am interested to watch more, especially because it seems like they are linked together when she lives he lives (like what happened 7 years before), and then when she dies he dies (like he saw in the future, that he will die on the same day as her). I also feel like this is one of SMA's better roles. However I have to say that I find the male lead a bit out of sync physically. I mean he is doing well in his role, and he and SMA are not bad together, but it just feels that he doesn't fit with her. I think they should've cast someone who would be more physically fitting for SMA. Anyways I look forward to see what will happen next, as this drama has me fully intrigued so far.
On a side note, I have a question do CEOs in S.K. in reality, sport these sorts of hairstyles? Like an 18 year old boy band member? I feel that this actor would look better if his hair had been brushed to the side or to the back.

Ditto on the physicality of the actors. SMA is tall but by no means fat, not even slightly, but she tends to be styled in oversized clothing (which she pulls off), while LJH looks even leaner here, so he just seems tiny next to her. I think the shirt with sleeves rolled up look makes him a better match physically than him in a tight-fitting suit like the wedding scene, which emphasized how thin he is. So Joon fashion sense, for the most part, is casual, loose, and edgy enough to be a visual match for Shin Mina's look.

Me too. It was a mix of Marin trying to play her misunderstanding off as a joke when she was really crushed by the relegation and knowing that this was the ending of one arc of their quasi-relationship - a relationship that only happened because So Joon sought her out (otherwise, there shouldn't be a reason for them to cross paths).
Seoul in this drama feels larger than the Seoul in most dramas - which feel like small towns with glitzy buildings. This is the first time in a long while that a subway train is depicted and characters ride on it. In a large city and with people's bustling lives, it's easy to never see people for months, years even and to lose contact all together. I liked how after they parted ways, they didn't see each other for a month and they got on with their lives - more realistic than bumping into him a few days later

Okay I've already said my other two theories:
1. So-joon and Ma-rin are trapped in a final destination time loop
2. Doo-shik is So-joon
3. Doo-shik is not So-joon but his son
Next theory
3. Doo-shik saved someone he shouldn't have and caused the train accident and is trying to set it right without actually telling them the future incidents that would so that this doesn't happen again or something like that

most likely! 1 & 3 especially I thought so too. With regards to the 2nd one, however, if that were the case as so joon explained,(meeting his future self would make his current time-traveling self disappear) then do shik would avoid meeting himself at all costs...though im not so sure if meeting his past self (so joon if theory 2 is correct) is any different. I'm leaning more towards him being the son though, because he's rather persistent in pushing so joon and marin together

I am getting Final Destination vibes too!
My wild theory:
1. Marin and Sojoon were meant to die in that subway explosion but was saved and since they are not meant to live, death will catch up to them in the future. That is why they both die at the same time.
2. Dooshik is the culprit being the camera click sound in the subway car that Marin mistakenly thinks Sojoon is taking photos of her. That sets off a chain of event that was not meant to happen - Marin getting into a fight with Sojoon, both getting off the next platform and surviving the explosion.
I never thought Dooshik could be the son, but that's a good theory! If he is, he might have seen his 'parents' death on a number of occasions and is trying to get Marin and Sojoon together to solidify his existence?
Wild and out of the park theories! And it's only episode 2!

Maybe Doo-shik was a survivor from the train accident too!!! He's the one who took the picture and got off the train along with Ma-rin and So-joon.
This theory could explain his time traveling ability and why he knew instantly that So-joon was a time traveler too.

Maybe So-joon ends up saving Ma-rin but not himself, and Doo-shik, whovever he is, is trying to save So-joon. It's hard to say as it's still quite early in the show. The train crash must be the key.

I'm going with your theory 3 and @realiti 's theory 2. Those are plausible and adding my two cents, I would say Doo Shik is trying to save his loved one who might die along with So Joon and Ma Rin's car accident in the future. He is trying to prevent that incident by keeping tabs on So Joon and all the circumstances that lead to it.
Remember the time when he said that Ma Rin is the key to So Joon's life, after So Joon first witnessed his own death. Similarly, So Joon holds the key to Doo Shik's life. The scene in which he greets So Joon during his first time travel was so suspicious that it looked like he was waiting for SJ to arrive. It paralleled SJ abrupty asking MR out for a coffee when he tried to save her from the TOD.

Doo-shik doesn't seem to be his son for me. If he was, wouldn't he be at the most 2 years old when the accident happened?
Your 4th theory seems plausible and intriguing. Doo-shin doesn't seem like a bad guy, because I think his creepy vibes wonder if this is his first time trying to correct a mistake?

Sorry, I pressed submit before I was done:
Doo-shik doesn’t seem to be his son for me. If he was, wouldn’t he be at the most 2 years old when the accident happened?
Anyway, I don't think Doo-shik is a bad guy because I think his creepy behavior is a red herring, but I do think that he is not necessarily blood-related.
I like your 4th theory and would like to add to that. What if this isn't his first time trying to correct his mistake? Maybe that's why he is very meticulous about keeping tabs on the events that happen?

Thanks for the recap!!!
Second episode swept almost all my questions. I liked how fast paced the story was. I also like how we go travel from the present to the future and vice versa.
I am having creeps over Dooshik's character tho. He's keeping a yearly bunch of files in boxes (which I am curious what's inside), pictures of the accident and a recording. There's more to his character than meets the eye. I am hoping he's on YSJ's side.
Can I just comment on how gorgeous YOO SOJOON was? Every outfit he wore was an ALL-KILL. (fangirl squeaks all over the office) I don't know why I'm seeing Kim Soohyun on him tho.
Although my heart almost died when he said that he never liked Marin at all. Marin's expression and hideous replies broke my heart. Now I am so looking forward on the future episodes like how will YSJ call her “Kkot-soon-ie”. I jcan't wait to see his facial expression saying that.
What I loved most on this episode was when he traveled on the future, went back to the present and pulled Marin on the street (with her date) like he's indicating she's mine back off rofl. Then, told her his name and ask her "What are you?" (That scene reminded me when Do Minjoon confronted and pinned Cheon Songyi on the wall on MLFTS.)
Praises to the values we learn from this drama like we'll only live once so we must be happy!!! :)

I'm hooked. Tomorrow With You is my newfound crack. I want So Joon to fall for Ma Rin hard as payback for being a dick to her. Yes, she jumped to the conclusion that he was interested in her, but what girl wouldn't after he "coincidentally" shows up everywhere she goes and volunteers to be a model when he is a "realtor"? So Joon was needlessly blunt and inconsiderate of her feelings while breaking things off. "You acted very pitiful" was a cheap shot knowing full well that was Ma Rin's Achilles' heel. I secretly wished So Joon was going to the future to spend time with his wife because he missed Ma Rin so much in the present, which he refuses to acknowledge.
How the heck does neither of them remember each other from the subway? Because the memory was too traumatic that they repressed the details of that day? I suspect Ajusshi caused the accident that kills our couple in the future. That's why he pulled So Joon away so quickly to prevent him from seeing Future Ajusshi. Either way, So Joon is going to feel so betrayed, since Ajusshi is the only father figure in his life after his parents died. I feel sorry for the nice reporter. At first, I was worried he was only after a story, but So Joon reading Ma Rin's article in the future proves the reporter was really trying to help her and was sincere in asking Ma Rin out.
A big thanks for the recap, gummimochi!

I am so with you on So Joon. The strait-forward "I don't like you, you keep misunderstanding me" was completely warranted. But everything after that was cruel and unnecessary, considering she instantly got the picture by then. Actually saying he hopes they don't run into each other again as if he wasn't the one trying to get to know her in the first place...I mean, that's just a shitty thing to say to any person, unless they've done you ill in some way. She was so right about him overreacting, as if he feared she was ready to propose marriage to him already when really his mixed signals were just getting her a little excited. I couldn't believe he couldn't even respect her last request and give her his name, especially when he and everyone else gets to know hers' without even asking for it.
That aside, I'm still enjoying his character. He does give her some on-point advice, when he's at his best. Definitely can't wait for him to fall helplessly in love with her though!

While I do agree that So-joon went overboard, Ma-rin was not without any fault here. Once she thought that So-joon liked her, she made So-joon drove her, helped her brought her things, without him offering or her asking him politely. She hopped on his car after the photoshoot as though it were something she's entitled to.
My point is both had their fair share of being an ass and I have no desire to blame any of them. I understand their circumstances. That's why even though I did think they should've and could've handled it better, they didn't piss me off.
Ma-rin was overexcited to think that finally there was someone who liked her despite knowing her ugly side. So-joon was horrified to knowing he's going to marry a woman whom he thought he could not capable of loving because what he had seen from her so far was that she's close to being an alcoholic, a mess and constantly whining. And Ma-rin jumping into conclusion, being obviously overexcited and constantly misunderstanding So-joon signals and codes were also not much being help. He was panic that the situation was getting out of hands. Especially when he found himself started to care about her (remember when he asked his bff to bring her paperwork? I bet he did that to stop himself from running to Ma-rin after he had heard there was another article about Ma-rin).

"How the heck does neither of them remember each other from the subway?"
I actually thought this was pretty realistic. I often have a hard time remembering someone I only met for 1 day even before a year has passed - and this is a lot more than one year. (And I assume that's not just me. Right?)
They probably had a vague image in mind, but over time that might have changed in such a way that even after meeting that person again, they didn't recognize each other.

Yes, its realistic, I tend to forget persons with whom I've spent chatting for the whole 2-3 hours and the next time when that person first approaches me I had many times where I said "I'm sorry I don't remember you."
Their convo was for very few minutes after which they might've literally passed through a trauma from bomb-blast. Its no wonder that they don't remember each other.

Well, I tend to forget things like people's names, face, etc (very) easily too. I mostly can't remember where I put my glasses, and I have a terribly difficult time to remember combination of numbers unless I put a lot of effort to memorize them lol. But, of course, I am still able to remember thing I get emotionally attached, or things that intentionally being memorized. That said, I can understand YJ didn't recognize MR at their 2nd meeting immediately because the accident was such a long time ago. But, considering he tells us that he is the only survivor in his family from that accident and he (of course) is really sad about it, he might have pushed the rewind button in his memory about that accident several times. The wish of him saving his parents (changing fate, coulda shoulda woulda etc) might crossed his mind...and MR might appear in his head too. So it feels a little bit off (at least for me) to see it takes quite long time for him to recognize MR's as the girl he had fight with from that life-changing day... but to each his own though. (it actually isn't a big plot hole to the whole story lol. I didn't plan to write this long about that thing either lmao).

I'm confused though. So-joon had already known that Ma-rin was going to have an accident. He even had known she'd refuse to go to lunch with her friends and eat instant noodles at convenience store instead. I assumed that the past So-joon had stalked the present Ma-rin beforehand. But if this was the case, wasn't it dangerous for present So-joon to go near where past So-joon had been present? Or was it fine as long as they didn't see each other? Or was there any certain safe distance they needed to keep in order to not disappear?

I was confused at that part, too. So which "accident" came first? Because SJ knew of Marin from the fatal car crash. He decided to stalk her then but then, if Marin was to have that truck of doom moment, then the car crash in 2019 would not have happened at all.

This was my first theory about the time travelling:
The future that Sojoon goes to, not the actual future, but more like a reflection of what the future will be like if everything the present continues the way it does now. If this is true, everything that he does in the future, won't be remembered by anyone (except fellow timetravellers). This would also mean that although present-Sojoon can meet reflection-of-future-Sojoon, present Sojoon cannot meet time-travelling-past Sojoon.
But this theory won't be true if Doo-shik does turn out to be someone from the future travelling to the past.

Right! That's why when he when to the future and see his home as a newly wed reflection with Marin being there he freaks out and tries to stop all connection to her in the present that could lead to a possible relationship because he doesn't understand how he could've end up with such a woman lol. So once he set it straight with her, that "break up" scene, he went back to the future and I believe he says something about everything is back to normal now. So in conclusion of how time traveling and the events we see in the future, it's as ywcnois has said above it's all base on what happens in the present. So the future we see from Sojoon is all a reflection of what has happened in the present.

Oh I love this theory. That makes sense since time travel in this drama creates alternate futures and doesn't occur in a single loop. The future is fickle and can change at the slightest different decisions of people in present time.
Thank you. Now let's see what kind of explanation the writer will come up with, if she will ever address this matter.

I'm so scared to fall in love with this. I've been disappointed with my dramas lately that I'm scared that this will be break my heart. I'm prepared for a sad ending but I'm scared if this slowly loses its beauty.
But I'm in love. Every bit of it. I love the leads, the plot, the writing, and the direction. I love the shaky camerawork, the one-take shots, and the wash-out color tone. It feels so sad yet the characters are able to give life and meaning to the story. They are the spark to this tragic love story that we are witnessing.
Am I praising too much? I think so but it's been a long time since a drama has hooked me like this (was the last Signal?). Granted, my watch list is kinda short but I'm enjoying this so much so I'm relishing the feeling.

It's fascinating how calm and quiet this drama felt as a whole even with several suspenseful thread going on. Rather than giving a sitting-on-edge-and-nail-biting feels, it's more like a looming sense of doom. You know it's there, and that the threat is real, but it's far away enough to lull you into enjoying the banter and the chemistry.
Speaking of, that short meeting sure was impactful for both our leads. For the first time since he started time-traveling, So-joon finally understand how everyone else only live in the present through witnessing Mi-ran and her Mom. While I felt like Mi-ran became more grounded after they met. She started to live diligently and not rely too much on her aegyo and coy act. The fact that they both bring out the good in each other is definitely a great sign in my book.

one of the reason I like the directing. They tell the story and let us judge if the scene is suspenseful enough without the need giving us those nail biting that raise our adrenaline, either it's a funny scene, or a sad scene, they sad the mood in one melancholic tone in other words avoiding tonal shift! I love the effort the director bring! I think PD Goblin should be the one who have to learn from this PD (as much as I like his previous work, Goblin might be one of his worst work in terms of production value). Kim Won Hae as LJH's dad was so cute, gotta love the Signal fam ?
I just can't get over how much this feels like a movie... sure we've had a lot of pretty-looking, high quality shows in the past year, but product-wise, this just feels on a entirely different level. I'm already eagerly waiting for the OST to be released because the instrumentals so far, are just beautiful.
Call me a masochist, but I also love how sad and heart breaking these two are already... The scene where he finds her on the street at night and when they run into each other again at the wedding just hurt, but it does so in this really fulfilling way. They haven't even gotten together yet, but they've already had a kind of "break up" scene and act a bit like exes. I don't know, but I just love these kind of relationships that "almost were" or were "nearly perfect" but they just have these unavoidable and immovable obstacles that make it not enough.
I think that's why I'm so in love with the time travel trope in general. It's both fatalistic and optimistic at the same time. It shows us directly how our actions have a ripple-effect and can make a difference. While at the same time proving that there's just some things in life that we are powerless against, and have no means of changing. It makes the characters' struggle relatable and extra satisfying when they do find a way to beat the odds, or at least come to terms with it.
Basically, I'm just so ready for these two to fall in love and the laughter and tears that will come with it.

I would like to take time to appreciate dialogue writer. The line where So Joon says, "Present is a joke" and his friend replies, " You travel between present and future but all we have is now", is so beautiful.
Isn't this why we should all stop worrying about our future and stop getting distressed of the choices we took in the past? Only present exists and it is up to us to make the most of it because life is short. The key to life lies in understanding that nothing is certain because everything is susceptible to change. Living would be a hell, if you were to see everything beforehand because you miss out on happiness by trying to alter the events that lead to a specific future. That being said the lead trying to prevent his death in the future is only resulting in causing heartache for both the girl and himself. So do what your heart wants rather than confining to norms. It is better to be surprised of what life may hold than be disappointed by expecting things in the future. YOLO!

Well, I agree with tou. While ep 1 didnt really wow me. I almost drop the show but then I decided to watch ep 2 and It finally hooked me.
I like the one shot cinematography and melancholy tone in this drama.
Now, I have so many theories about this drama because time travel is something that I often read on books and a genre that I like.
Theory 1 : Doo shik is the future soo joon who somehow stuck in limbo and can't time travel to the future anymore only the past.
Theory 2 : final destination-esque which means you can't escape death and death somehow will find you
Theory 3: in trailer I saw/hear that dooshik said ' one day soo joon will leave his wife suddenly' and I think it will have to do with knowing that both of them will be each other doom and ao joon will leave marin to save her

From future Seoul to present Namyeong
From present Namyeong to future Seoul
But if So-joon goes to Seoul without using train, he'll arive at present Seoul, right? Then what if he goes back from present Seoul to Namyeong by train?
In which Namyeong will he arrive?
A. Present Namyeong
B. Future Namyeong
C. Past Namyeong

Speaking about Ma-rin..I hadn't really liked her in the 1st episode but in this episode...Ma-rin SHINED and I totally Fell for her..and now I can't wait for So-joon to fall for her and his Cockyness be trampled on..~giggles~

I super like this couple. I had no idea I would like them together this much but their chemistry is great! Ma Rin is interesting and tries to live her life positively but people keep dragging her down and she takes it well. I keep thinking what would I do if I was in her shoes, yep, I would cry and break down. I know she drinks a lot but it is the only way she can cope with stress. I can see So Joon becoming her saviour in this aspect. It is also realistic how she is falling in love with him. That scene where she opens out her umbrella is amazing and beautiful. I think that is the very moment she realizes her feelings or sees So Joon as a man for the first time. Who wouldn't feel touched? The rain is pouring, there is the umbrella she got from him, shielding her. I can see it as a metaphor.
The wedding scene was just heartbreaking. When their eyes meet after a month of missing each other (Don't lie So Joon, you did miss her like crazy!).
I don't know if I like the one take scenes. Firstly, it is different and interesting but at the same time I keep thinking to myself "Show her face!I wanna see her reaction!" and when they show her for a longer period I keep wishing to see Lee Je Hoon. But it certainly needs acting talent and I think both of the main actors are doing well, it is just distracting sometimes.
I can't wait to watch episode 3! This drama has a lot of potential.

one take scene is also a way to make chemistry between actor look more natural. I actually find too much split scene at times reduce the chemistry between the actor, it's restrict their whole body language reaction to each other.

It's interesting to me how, after two episodes of exposition and character development, we've ended up with a male lead who's rich, powerful, and arrogant, and a female lead who's humble, downtrodden, and working hard to improve her lot in life. That's usually just the starting point for many dramas, but here it's been earned. And it didn't seem like it would be that way at first. When the drama opened, Ma-rin was this sort-of weirdo and So-joon was this sort-of gentle and sympathetic character. And now I'm totally rooting for So-joon to get his comeuppance and fall in love with Ma-rin.

I like So-joon's friend Gi-doong (jokingly named "pillar" in Korean), especially when he warned the former not to act out of time. I appreciate that the writer has added a character who is the voice of reason to the time-traveling hero, advising him to respect people for what they are in the present.

I've got the theory that the time travel master, Doo-shik, is Ma-rin father. Why?:
-In ep.1 when So Joon gives the umbrella to Ma-rin and cames back to the car Doo-shik has dissapeared. He doesn't want to be recognized by her.
-This will explain why, as realiti said in comment 8.2 : "Dooshik is the culprit being the camera click sound in the subway car that Marin mistakenly thinks Sojoon is taking photos of her". His motivation is to save his daughter from the explosion.
-Alsom dramoron said in comment 27 : "Doo Shik is the reporter who writes Bap Soon articles" , he has been doing this for years, and is the reason Ma-rin is so prickly with people taking pictures of her, leading to the live saving fight on the subway and why her presence in internet is constant, which is a connection between So Joon and Ma-rin.
-His creepiness is explained, because he is not reallty on So Joon side, but wants to manipulate him so his own child is saved.
We know who are the otrer 3 parents, but Ma-rin dad is an incognita, and I don't think he is his future child because then he can travel to before he was even concieved, but if he is the dad all of this is his future, (also, and forgive my superficiality, but a Shin Min Ah and Lee Je Hoon baby, (in any time line, will be the handsomest man in the world, and that Jo Han Chul is not).
Sooo, why a man and his "future son in law" are both time travelers? no idea. Maybe Doo-shik ajussi can give time travel abilities? another mistery.
Awsome show.

Ooooh I like your theory that Doo Sik is Ma Rin's dad! They even have a slight resemblance in the eyes and I can definitely buy that she's his and her mom's daughter. She's a good mix of both of them. I also think it's really nice that it's Ma Rin he's looking out for and not So Joon. Like maybe he abandoned her and her mom long ago and is trying to set things right.
I like your theory more than that the other one where he's So Joon and Ma Rin's kid. There's no resemblance there at all and ideally a kid should look like his parents at least!

"...also, and forgive my superficiality, but a Shin Min Ah and Lee Je Hoon baby, in any time line, will be the handsomest man in the world, and that Jo Han Chul is not."
So true. If Doo-shik is truly Ma-rin and So-joon's son, then how Doo-shik doesn't inherit his father's pointy nose and mother's dimple will be the biggest plotholes ever. This is exactly why I was a bit reluctant to believe that theory.

It never crossed my mind that Dooshik could be the son. Your theory is an eye opener! Dooshik being Marin's dad is very possible and more likely! Especially since they showed Sojoon's parent's death in the explosion. That 5 minute cameo of Signal's Kim Won Hae as Sojoon's father had to mean something right? While yes, the parent's death is very impactful, but it's little clues and hints like these that we can't miss! I'm on this boat!

I like the show so far, the story line and actors are doing a fantastic job. I'm not sure where the negativity is coming from. I think sometimes people have their own expectations based on previously watched dramas, what should happen and have preconceived feelings from the start. I say watch it and if you don't like it or where it's going stop watching it, after all it's a drama and there others one's to watch.

Whenever I read comments here I'm always so surprised by the sheer amount of people that try to guess what will happen later on in a drama. I guess people like me who like prefer watching for the story and how they get to the end without spoilers are few and far between.
I personally really liked the introspective quality of the first few episodes and don't mind not knowing what happened or what will happen until it's told to us organically. I love the two lead's chemistry and their acting so far. Really well done and I can't wait for more.

It sounds like you think negatively of those people who love sharing their theories and love theorizing all together. I don't really get your comment tbh. Why is it a problem if people like to user their brains? It is fun to watch dramas that don't treat their viewers as bunch of kids. It is nice when they drop some clues here and there and you pick them up. Adding your own theories and sharing it with others =/= wanting to know the truth right away.

As for my intellect and imagination, I have tons of that, which is why I prefer to not guess or read what's going to happen. I like to watch a story unfold how it's meant to unfold. Everyone is different lol.

@Writer-nim,jebal / @Barbrey
Why are you both jumping down @Erika's throat? You both come across as acting extremely defensive.
I didn't take @Erika's comment as condescending at all. She simply stated that she enjoys when everything is not laid out or explained upfront in a story, and that she doesn't understand the motivation for wanting to engage in commentary (DB) on how a given story will go. It seems like she's just stating she doesn't engage like many others do.
I took her bit about people skipping to the end of the book as a light but ultimately harmless and joking dig. Certainly nothing to warrant such pointed responses.
One of your responses implies that she must not like to "use her brain" and the other accuses her of lacking "curiosity, imagination, and tact."
Really? Aren't we at DB better than that?

Wrong! :'D I'm the type of people who refuse any kind of spoiler and turn into a crazy whenever someone tries to spoil the book I read (that's why I didn't watch any previews and teasers of this show). If I guess it wrong, I'll be even more pleased since the writer manages to surprise me.

I didn't find anything negative in your first comment at all as I am exactly like you. I usually don't try to guess or theorise what will happen when watching a drama and like to see things as they unfold and be surprised. I usually skip over the theory comments in DB and like to read other things like background info (for historical dramas), clarification on certain scenes I don't understand and people's thoughts on whether the drama is good or not etc. However, this drama gave me such Final Destination vibes and thoughts easily popped into my head that I just had to share! It's a first for me! Sharing my theories.
However, with your self reply, it was a good thing you put a question mark at the end of your query of "these types of people", otherwise I would have thought you were stereotyping. It sounds like you are just curious. I love reading and HATE to be spoiled. I always kick myself when I accidentally read too many comments in articles/post of things I'm reading/watching and I accidentally read a spoiler.
Now that I'm sharing theories while reading other theories, I realise it's actually quite fun to do!

We're still in for the story and how it will end, spoiler-free.
It's more of being curious and anticipating what will happen next. Constantly finding clues and hints, trying to fit what the writer has given. It's a guessing game as you try to see how the story will take you, solving the mystery the writer has given. And then when all is revealed, it's satisfying to see when you got it right yet more satisfying to be surprised.
Added to that, it's also great to share what you believe in and what you want with the story. It's a good way to vent out your feelings or release your "feels" as you wait for the next episode. It lessens the wait and increases your excitement.

I HAVE A THEORY! LJH's time-traveling buddy/teacher is actually SMA's dad! He's estranged with his wife due to his time-traveling-ness, so he just watches from afar but then finds out SMA dies in three years with LJH. Therefore, in order to save her life he gets LJH involved since he knows that given LJH's time-traveling abilities he's the best chance to save her, AND since LJH's own death is involved he will be all for it. He himself can't save her bc he doesn't know what happened: i.e., only SMA and LJH can know what really happened that night to cause their death.
Ta da!! Ok. Just a theory. Maybe I've watched way too many dramas over the years.

I also think that he knows a lot more than he lets on. I feel like he maybe one who can travel to parallel timelines and thus 'sees' the consequence of interfering with time and one of his 'selves' is stuck in a certain time (which might be the one who is trying to avoid meeting with LJH)
