Kim So-hyun to make special appearance in While You Were Sleeping

The cast for writer Park Hye-ryun’s new fantasy legal drama While You Were Sleeping already seems like a reunion tour from her past shows, with Lee Jong-seok (Pinocchio, I Hear Your Voice), Suzy (Dream High), and Shin Jae-ha (Page Turner, Pinocchio) signed on, but now it really feels complete with a special appearance from Kim So-hyun (Bring It On, Ghost), who was in two of the writer’s past dramas—she starred in Page Turner with Shin Jae-ha and kicked off I Hear Your Voice as teenage Lee Bo-young.

Kim So-hyun is currently shooting her upcoming sageuk Ruler–Master of the Mask with Yoo Seung-ho, but made the time for a cameo in While You Were Sleeping for writer Park. There’s no word yet on the length of her appearance and the role she’ll play, only that it’s important to the story.

Of course, it only makes me wish that she were in the whole drama (aaah, she could’ve had a loveline with Shin Jae-ha!), but maybe we can hope that it’ll be like her cameo in The Lonely Shining Goblin, where we saw her practically every week. What I really want is for her to headline Park Hye-ryun’s next drama, because she was so great as the sassy teenage heroine in I Hear Your Voice and the prickly genius pianist in Page Turner—a drama that I still wish could have a second life as a full-length miniseries.

While You Were Sleeping stars Suzy as a woman who sees future tragedies in her dreams, and Lee Jong-seok plays a prosecutor who fights to prevent these tragic dream visions from coming true. The hero lives with his high-schooler brother, played by Shin Jae-ha, who wants to become a police officer like their dad. Lee Sang-yub (This Week, My Wife Will Have an Affair), Go Sung-hee (My Beautiful Bride), Jung Hae-in (Night Light), and Park Jin-joo (Jealousy Incarnate) co-star.

While You Were Sleeping starts shooting in March for a broadcast sometime this year on SBS.

YASSS! I need another season of Page Turner now. I shipped Yooseul and Jinmok so hard it hurts, because she never got to see and know how much he cared for her.

Also, if her role here is anything like her role in Goblin, I'm going to be tuning in to this for sure.

I thought I was the only one who shipped Kim So-hyun and Shin Jae-ha in Page Turner. I really hope that mini-drama got a second life as well. One can hope.

No you're not,i totally wanted them to end up together or have as their own drama!

Curious if she will play the heroine on a younger self or a victim known by one of the leads...

Me too. Which is why I'm NOT hoping for a "second life" for the drama special, because they most probably won't end up together anyway.

We have confirmed that the actors who were supposed to confirm all made confirmations of their participation in the upcoming tvN drama, Chicago Typewriter. They are all excited to work very hard as they requested that we take good care of them.

Or got fed up with the casting shenanigans and the fan wars or military service comments?... well it’s a small screen comeback for Im Soo Jung and comeback for Yoo Ah In after SFD so, naturally, I also thought that it would be reported on here as soon as possible after confirmation. Same with Third Rate My Way with Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won, but that was on news bites and a couple days after confirmation. And that drama had casting confusions going on too..

They write sooooo many articles all the time. And how many news reporters are there?
4, I think: tineybeanie, awcoconuts, girlfriday and sometimes javabeans.

This is my only kdrama site I follow. But news pops up sometimes on my Google and I'm pretty sure a good amount of beanies read them and comment here. Let's keep it that way and not demand articles so we can keep the peace and be grateful for DB team's efforts.

Required fields are marked *

Sometimes ppl forget, we dont pay to visit this site, so what's with these demands and complaints. DB team is not under responsibility to provide every info/recap we want. In fact, on Chicago, there were actually a lot articles on that. Not only Chicago, on PSJ-KJW drama as well, we already have enough information.

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

Yup. I can recall at least 3-4 articles about both that drama and movie.

It's not that DB is uninterested. They've shown lots of interest in potential casting and even before cast when plots were announced. They've just got so much going on. For some writers this isn't the only thing they do all day.

Once an article is written about so-and-so being offered a role and considering it Dramabeans does not traditionally report when the offer is finally accepted or turned down. They might include that news when there is new development on the same drama.

Yeah I don't understand why also. But their actors often get very high exposure though. Nam Joohyuk is in 3 dramas last year and is going to be in another one. Same for Lee Sungkyung. Lee Jongsuk has been working non-stop since joining YG.

Required fields are marked *

One can't help but wonder why KSH gets so much more when both her and Yoojung are under the same agency. She got two films, two dramas and one extended cameo in 2016, whereas Yoojung only got one drama.

I'm glad that despite this, Yoojung still got to enter Forbes Top 10.

lol okay good for KYJ fans then. Stop complaining on articles that have nothing to do with her. Nice superiority complex btw thinking that KYJ has to get everything . and she had a leading role in a movie too on top of a drama last year whereas KSH has had smaller roles.so I don't understand what the issue is. and just because you feel mad doesn't mean that you guys go and attack KSH ON twitter. It's absolutely childish and you should be ashame of yourself for making fun of her dead dad.

Uh I don't know anything about Twitter and what KYJ fans are doing there.

I'm actually KSR's fan, followed by KYJ's. I am neutral toward KSH. It's not a crime to comment when I mean nothing malicious.

0

Why are you guys comparing her to the other Kim sisters? Maybe they don't want to work as much, so stop blaming the agency when you don't have the whole story and are just fabricating conspiracy theories. Why not compare her to other actors in the same agency, Kim so hyun is not the only one there.

0

They are still very young. I cannot imagine what will happen to them in next 5 years - for sure tons of comparison articles etc. Sometimes the actressess are doing fine, the fans are the ones go overboard.

I thought KYJ was resting, she will have more projects to do, we are still in the early of 2017. Anyway this is just cameo role, not a big deal though. Fans need to give it a rest.

Not to be a wet blanket but... in worst case, expect that in 5 years, unless they take a different acting path, there will be more comparison articles and more fandom wars. Just look at the mess in this thread alone... also expect that ifans, why not even k-netz, will for sure be commenting that they’re crappy actresses if they don’t transition well or transition too slowly to adult roles. And that’s on top of the hate they'll be getting from rivaling fandoms and ships. I can’t with all these people...

Aw. I'm not cheering on older man - young girl pairs. I'm indifferent to those occurrences if both parties can act but I'm not going to force it into every drama.

But. Why can't Kim So Hyun star? She could be a 4 year sunbae to Shin Jae Ha. And then the leads could have met when his brother was in kindergarten and Jong Suk was walking him to school. A lá I Hear Your Voice.

Ugh, I want that drama now. Maybe not with Shin Jae Ha because I low key ship them (I am team Jisoo, but that puppa made it a hard choice in just 3 episodes).

I'll wait 4-6 years when she's an adult and Jong Suk is done with his service.

On a more positive notw, I forgot Park Jin Joo was in this! How could I do that?!

It doesn't bother me.

My parents were ten years apart with my father being the older one. It seems relatively normal to me.

My anecdotal experience is that is reflects a general tendency of men preferring women younger than them when in comes to relationships.

*Cue a whole slew of counterexamples. I'm ready. ;)

Maybe to be more accurate high school /underage girl (in drama and reality) - adult guy pairing? I dont mind older guy, in fact i'll love it more, but honestly watching some underage girls do romance with older guy bothering me. lol. That's why I always avoid the drama with this kind of pairing, especially if it is romance drama.

Older man - young adult woman
Is aces for me, cue every Gong Hyo Jin drama ever.

But older man - young girl doesn't seem like the pairing writers should be focusing on when there are so many options. Give me a true May-December
Woman - 29/Man - 67

Or the flip "cougar version"
Woman - 72/Man - 33

That would be awesome. And any lowering the gaps would be cool too.

You don't have to answer if you don't want to but was your mother international age of 17 or higher? Or lower?

That changes things. Romance happens at times we don't expect. But as long as both parties respect each other and don't use their older age or younger age to get their way it's fine.

My parents were born less than 6 months apart which always cracked me up. What are the chances?

But in writing, I think we can stretch beyond that. It seems the path being taken at the moment is having internationally 15, 16 age girls act against an 18, 20, 24 character. Not the actor's age but the story being told.

Personally I don't want a 16 I know with a 24 year old. I think 16 and 18 has a solid chance. But 15 and 24+ shouldn't be enacting flirtatiously. If they can wait 3-5 years for her or him to fully claim his adulthood and have more secular knowledge, I'm always ready to ship.

If they say life imitates art, I don't want a bunch of young girls looking for the perfect ahjussi, while dongsaeng teen boys are looking for noonim/noona-sshi.

Let them have the time to discover themselves. That is what should be on TV. Take me through the seasons and 3 years and maybe now is the time for the second half of the romance. To me, no matter who calls for a pause is being romantic.

You don't have to find the one by the time you're 15-17. That's leading into true love discover in animus at 12-15. Which does happen in real life. I know a beautifully married couple with 2 kids that felt that connect underage but didn't pursue it until they were of age. Should that on TV.

Maybe this is affected by the fact that the guy I like is a dongsaeng. Of age, finally! But neither of us are even reasy to begin to approach that topic.

Disclaimer: I watch about half the shows that got those complaints. None of them bothered me enough to turn off the show.

I'm all for all ages as long as the younger or older isn't slowly weakening and becoming prey. And that can happen within the same age group.

Just no 15, 16 agenda possibly 17. They should be with female and male friends building social skills and lasting friendships. Friendships that might lead to more. But not kdrama-dramatically.

Wow, KYJ fans are the weirdest bunch ever. I haven't seen any hate for LJS when he went from drama to movie to drama and ten thousand CFs all in a span of 9 months. Same for LSK who did 3 drama's last year and a movie which is releasing this year and has already secured her next drama.

People whose job is to act are supposed to act, that's kind of the point. And since when does a cameo count as a proper acting job!? She'll hardly be on screen for 10 mins!

Also, how can any human being hate/criticize a teenager!? How insensitive is that!?

My guess is that there isn't much competition within actresses in their 20s. There is Park Shinhye and Park Boyoung but these two are famous since 2008/2009. Whereas the Kims started around the same age and are equally famous.

There is no justifiable reason to criticize someone for working hard. I just don't understand how doing your job becomes 'attention seeking'. She was offered a role, she liked it and so he accepted it. The End.

And, the dearth of actresses in their 20s at present is the exact reason why all these child actresses should be encouraged. You have so many talented and successful actresses to look forward to for the next decade, this is worth celebrating not being petty about. When ever again will Kdrama's have so many good stars to look forward to!? And frankly the industry is big enough for all them. That level of acting talent will never be ignored.

I’m baffled, she had just one drama in 2016 and one really minor role in a movie, after a year an a half of hiatus due to finishing studies and, you know, living her life. Now I’m equally perplexed as to why I again have to see these kind of comments in an article about a young actress’ CAMEO appearance holy hell. And not one comment about actors. Ever. I really don’t want to use the term oppas fangirls, but it seems exactly the case...
