Ji Chang-wook busts out the action moves for his new thriller The K2

It would’ve been a crying shame to let the Healer’s badass fightin’ skills go to waste, so it’s a good thing that his new bodyguard drama The K2 is putting them to good use. Sadly I don’t see any of the bumbling side of Healer that I loved — here, Ji Chang-wook is all sleek, all the time. The newest teaser for his upcoming tvN Friday-Saturday drama finally shows us a glimpse of what we’ve been waiting for — Ji Chang-wook busting heads and being a hero.

At least… I think he’s being a hero. Loyalties will probably be murky in this action thriller from the PD of Chuno and the writer of Yong-pal, because Ji Chang-wook plays a bodyguard-for-hire who gets entangled in a political family that’s full of secrets. He’s a mercenary soldier who was betrayed by his country, and he gets hired by an ambitious presidential candidate’s wife, played by Song Yoon-ah (Assembly), to guard her husband’s hidden daughter.

The daughter, played by Yoon-ah (Prime Minister and I), is a shut-in with an extreme fear of people and a panic disorder triggered by camera flashes, due to a childhood trauma. A mystery brings her to Korea, where she’ll become a pawn in her father’s race to become president, placing her and the bodyguard in the center of a dangerous political war.

The action teaser looks slick, but I expected nothing less from the director Chuno and Runaway: Plan B. If this drama has literally nothing else, it’ll have style. Hopefully there’s substance to be had too, because it would be pretty great for The K2 to do well, and for Ji Chang-wook to solidify a career as an action hero. Just think of all the kittens that need saving!

The K2 premiers September 23 on tvN.

"Yoona, she's just so thin and..."

Thin and PERFECT.

That schoolchildren blush when they see her... Cute, furry woodland animals follow her around... Cheerful, optimistic music plays wherever she goes. Disney animators use her as muse when drawing princesses... Thieves return purses at her request... Water puddles dry up before she walks into them... The sun beams bright in the sky and refuses to set until she falls asleep...

That's what you meant right? That she's perfect.

If not, I don't want to hear anything different.... (covers ears) ;)

I think Whirlwind Girl 2 is pretty good, actually. It's the first C drama I watched because of JCW, and I thought it was unexpectedly refreshing. I liked that the show had a female character whose life and goals don't involve getting together with the male lead, and that she's strong and responsible in all areas of her life, not just the stereotypical girl that bickers with the male lead.

The drama is awful! There's a heroine who always cries (I somehow understands her because she's having a difficult time but it is too much, especially that hair clip scene.) They also have a super annoying second male lead that makes me want to punch my computer screen. The only good thing about the drama is JCW and the opening OST.

She doesn't always cry, but when she does, it's always about reasons that have nothing to do with romance (like feeling guilty over injuring a competitor). That in itself makes it better than many other shows.

Are we watching the same show? She's always crying in the first half of the drama. And it's because of her sunbae. The one she's in love with in the first WG. She can't even fight because of the lost strawberry clip. It took a while before she finally moved on and stopped crying whenever she remembers him.

Required fields are marked *

I agree. The editing is horrible. They usually do it that way to hide how fake the fights are but JCW has skill and training so there really shouldn't be a need to have to use editing to cover up ineptness that would occur from untrained actors.
It could be too that the editor is trying to adhere to a commercial style since it is a teaser but it's just not mixing well and he should have gone in a different direction.

I really like the promotional picture,
it shows them individually and what exactly their role,

even the yoona (both) seems so lonely in different environment,
it's sad and I can feel it trough picture,

one has nothing in her life but it's a bright life yet lonely and sad and the other girl has many people around, darker light, still looked lonely and sad

props for the fotographer to capture the essence with something that looked normal,

that just my observation though,

I... I think I'm in trouble....

About 2 months before I've finished my fellowship, (and it's been two weeks since I've finished fellowship) I've... I've sunk into Dramaland again. I was a shadow reader for the last, I dunno, 5 years maybe. Then I stopped watching your site coz of training. I was on board LFG, currently on UF, W, now MLSHG and MDBC. I actually dropped Doctors, not too committed to C4K and JI tho... but somewhere in between these two months, eating, living, going to the hospital, and fixing my clearances,... I think I may have run through Healer, Oh Hae Young Again, Signal and now eating my way through Jackpot. And now, I'm looking forward to K2!... Oh no. Oh no. I am doomed. I am doomed.

I have got to get some sense of control before my board exams.... which is next June. (oh no, oh no, oh no.)

You're not alone. This season has many good dramas and is keeping everyone busy. I am currently watching 6. 2 on every timeslot. And i know I would've dropped half of them if I was busy right now but I'm totally free and am constantly getting headacjes even though I only watch 2 episodes a day. 12 in a week is still too much for me( when live watching obviously otherwise I can marathon 12 episodes in a day too)

But in case you are busy and still into dramas then remind yourself that you can watch them anytime. I personally think marathoning is better than live watching so I tell myself that, that way I'll have more fun while watching a drama and it would be done in a few days rather than waiting for a period of months.

LSJ - has training but he looks comical in W while fighting
LJK - has training. awesome in saguek swordfights.
SJK - he was good in DOTS
LMH - should never do action. Ever.

..... ?? Who else ?

LMH fans will come after you and they will bring up City Hunter.

Not sure what you mean by current lot but I will add Joo Won. He's athletic and looks aggressive in fighting scenes, check out Gaksital.

Now that I am thinking of this batch, did Kim Soo Hyun ever do action?

Yeah...who else?

Required fields are marked *

:) I love city hunter. I must have re-watched it so many times. it was probably the 3rd or 4th Korean drama i saw and i loved it to bits and LMH in it.

But if someone tells me that the action in CH is good, i'm going to laugh. There were a few scenes that were very stylised - the initial jungle fight, the fight on the staircase. But overall you could see clearly that they were compensating for him by some seriously good camera angles.

I haven't watched Gaksital. But its on my list of shows to watch.

Haha...I loved City Hunter too but like you I didn't think LMH was a good action actor. I was giggling throughout that spoon fight but never dared to admit because the fans just loved it.

0

@bipss99 Omg Gaksital was trulyyyy good. I'm not even the suspense-thriller type and it managed to rope me in, anti-hero and all. Joo-won was an acting monster in that. ?

0

@ET

Man, that spoon fight deserves its own wall of fame
*giggle*

@delurked

Now you have done it. Now i need to move it up my pile and watch it. Anti heroes RULE!

btw, which Jang Hyuk drama are you referring to? I haven't seen him do action.

0

My god, you HAVE to watch Gaksital. Joo Won plus my most favorite Antagonist of all time...Park Ki Woong as Kimura Shunji.

0

@bipps99 YAY ?

Jang Hyuk does action here and there for most of his dramas/movies, especially after his role in Chuno. I mean, look at this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64x-NthPhVg

-nose bleeds-

Apparently, he practised martial arts for more than 10 years and was a former professional Taekwondo athlete, which ???

0

Take note, all the scenes are done by Joo Won himself. He didn't use a stunt double even in the difficult scenes. I've seen the BTS and he's really good.

I would say that LJS was the worst out of them. I forward all his fight scenes in W. It was just funny and made me distracted plus I feel bad for laughing because he said it was the most difficult to act.
I really don't remember LMH's fight scenes since it was a long time ago.
Anyways the lack of practice shows in this kind of scenes. It's hard to find someone who does not look awkward and can keep up with his body and if you lack the moves you need to act very well to hide it.
LJK is clearly the best since he is already trained.

The promotional teasers and trailers looking slick and intriguing so far. Look like an full package of action, romance and politics.

I have been waiting for Ji Chang Wook comeback to dramaland since forever. Hope this role will be even more amazing then Healer ( is that even possible?)

And I know Song Yoon Ah will play villain role brilliantly. I am prepared to hate her to pieces.

About Yoona, I am open to give her another chance to prove herself. She has been working hard to improve after every projects. With this meaty role, I hope she will commit to it 200% and make me her fan.

I saw another teaser pics of her and Song Yoon Ah. They look better than the pictures above. It showed their hate relationship. They both look like they want to kill each other by their eyes alone.

And the BTS pics from Spain look promising too.
