Seo In-gook transforms into Shopping King Louis

These newly released photos from the production of MBC’s upcoming rom-com series Shopping King Louis aren’t as exciting as I’d like my first-stills-from-a-drama to be, but it’s Seo In-gook and he’s looking sharp, so net gain.
Seo In-gook didn’t bother taking a break after finishing up his cable drama Police Unit 38 recently, and is jumping right into this one. Shopping King Louis features him in the title role, a hero who finds himself dropped into the heart of the bustling consumerist city of Seoul without a memory. There, he meets a sweet bumpkin of a girl (Nam Ji-hyun) and they’ll struggle to get by together in this “survival romantic comedy.”
Those circumstances will be quite the change for Louis, who’s a chaebol heir who grew up abroad, not that he knows it in his amnesiac state. The character lost his parents at an early age in an accident and grew up under Grandma’s overprotective care, which made for a lonely existence, like a plant grown in a greenhouse. He becomes the so-called shopping king while growing up in Europe, turning to retail therapy as a way of coping with his loneliness.
In these stills, Louis’s seated in a luxurious first-class cabin in an airplane, headed to who knows where. After finishing the drama’s first shoots, Seo In-gook said he’s enjoying the work and living as Louis: “These days I feel like, ‘Ah, being an actor can be such a happy thing.'”
Shopping King Louis follows current Wednesday-Thursday hit drama W, and premieres in September.

Nam Ji Hyun has been in the industry much longer than Seo In-gook. She is a talented young actress and if I watch this show it would be because she is in it.

Like others here, Nam Ji Hyun is far from rookie, she's very talented and have been in the industry for quite some time. I actually love her as an actress!! She reminds me of Park Bo Young for some reason :)

NJH started as a child actress back in 2004. She is far from a rookie actress. You should watch What Happens to my Family. She had great chemistry with Park Hyung sik in that.

She had this sweet chemistry with Kang Haneul in Angel Eyes and that was the best part of that drama for me.
I usually drop dramas when her portion is over.
I'm very excited that she is back in Chungmuro with 2 big movies co-starring with Ha Jung-woo and Bae Doona in "The Tunnel" and with Cha Seung-Won in director Kang Woo-Suk's sageuk film "The Map Against The World."
I'm guessing she is done with school and back to full time acting. I'm so happy to see more of her in both dramas and movies.

Dropped the drama after Kang Haneul and her part finished. They raised my expectation so high I couldn't continue with the adult version.

Why does it matter when an actress is older then him? But let's break down the shows he has been in.
For Shopping King Louie, like others have said, NJH is none of the things you described. She debuted 8 years before SIG, she isn't an idol and she isn't older then him.
Unit 38 was an ensemble cast and focused much more on SIG and MDS's bromance then anyone else. You could say Choi Soo Young, who is an idol-turned actress, was the leading lady, but she really didn't have that big of a part to play in the drama.
I Remember You did have an older actress by 6 years but I'm still not sure why that matters? She is a very experienced and well-known actress that would only help his repetition as a leading man, not hurt it.
Never saw The Kings Face so I can't comment on that one.
High School King of Savvy had an older actress but the drama was about a noona romance so that would have been weird if she wasn't older. She is neither an idol-turned actress or a rookier actress though, and she did an excellent job in the drama.
In Master's Sun he wasn't even the main character, but the secondary. SIG being in a Hong sisters romance with So Ji Sub and Gong Hyo Jin as the stars was HUGE for him, despite GHJ being older.
Didn't see Rascal Sons so I can't comment on that.
Reply 1997 was his big break, so the fact that the female lead was an idol means nothing, because he was a rookie himself and came from winning a SINGING program, not acting.
Basically, I am not sure where you are saying he gets the short end of the stick. None of the shows I've seen have done poorly because of the actresses. If anything, most of actresses have all been praised and have helped HIM become a house-hold name. You need to remember that in the industry he can still be considered a rookie himself since he only debuted 4 years ago. He also is technically an idol-turned actor himself since he gained recognition after winning a singing competition, Superstar K. Glad he did, because I love him, but he definitely has not gotten the short end of the stick with his leading ladies.

I think the last comment just made an honest mistake and confused Nam Ji Hyun the actress with Nam Ji Hyun the girl group idol member (who does indeed have limited acting experience). But anyway, glad that's cleared up!
SIG is looking finnnnnnee ??, and for that alone, I will be checking out this drama when it airs, hahaha! ;) gonna need new crack after W is done hahaha

Awww yes. I agree. And you remind me that Reply 1997 is his big break. I still think that his chemistry with Jung Eun Ji is the best out of all his chemistry with his leading ladies, although he did have good chemistry with all of them. I have a feeling that his chemistry with Nam Ji Hyun will be as great as his chemistry with Jung Eun Ji.
Still, I want to see the reunion of Seo In Guk and Jung Eun Ji again. Maybe in this year tvN awards? Fingers crossed that they will together on stage, it's better if they sing Reply 1997 OST again.

i love Reply 1997! Seo In Guk develops nice chemistry with all his leading ladies but I have to say it was the best with Jung Eun Ji. Even if it was their first acting project as main leads, I believe they did well.

I felt the same too,redfox. He's sitting there so isolated ,staring wistfuly into the distance. He looks so lost,like he doesn't even know where he's going. Almost like he just hopped into the flight and said "just take me anywhere".

It is likely that this drama will go up against either Gong Hyojin's JI or Jeon Jihyun's LofBS. Which is a shame. Either way, SBS will most probably be winning their wed-thurs timeslot with those two hits.

I would agree with you on LofBS and JI. All of these dramas depend on good writing to not tank.
Both SKL and JI are really rom-com at this point (of course SKL can throw in the finding parents and memory retrieving).
Gong hyo jin's JI would have the lead in episodes before SKL airs (september 14 2016).
There's a chance that viewers from W would watch SKL. There's some people that do watch shows in the same time slot and channel for a while.
Then JI will end and LofBS will take over. SKL would be ahead of LofBS by a couple of episodes. But LofBS is probably getting more exposure and has a higher expectation, drawing in more viewers.
Regardless I hope this drama (SKL) does decently on the ratings and that the writing carries the drama to a reasonable ending. :P
For KBS, I think they have On the Way to the Airport with Kim Ha Neul and Lee Sang Yoon.
Fall is shaping up to having some interesting dramas to watch ~

Seems that you're in this drama for another "double-role" again? Savvy and PU38 just can't make you stop apparently in manipulating us, conning us, and making us swooning hard in those awesome transformations. My last hope would be the writing and the directing, cross finger this drama turned out GOOD!
