Oh Double Snap! IU regrets laying eyes on Lee Jun-ki

Literally two minutes after I published the Lee Jun-ki poster for Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Goryeo, they sneak-attacked me with a poster and stills for IU’s character, a 21st-century woman who travels back in time to Goryeo. Her poster’s copy reads: “I wish I’d never met you. Then I wouldn’t have to miss you this much.” Aw, there really is no heartbreak like from-another-time-or-universe heartbreak, is there?

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Goryeo begins August 29 on SBS.

ugh she's so pretty, she looks almost doll-like in that still on the boat (white outfit).

I'm wondering what's going on in that still of her with whichever Prince that is, though. What is that....grumpy monkey thing near the lower right corner?!

IU is the centre of attention and I hope for her sake that she will do well.
Kang Han-na is a great actress and has done sageuks before. She is going to stand out just like Honey Lee in Shine or Go Crazy. She is playing the same character, Wang So's future queen.

I was confused about the plot of this so I decided to just watch the original. Loved the 1st ep! I think it'll be fun to see them in this version. :)

I haven't seen the original but i heard that its a lot about political maneuvering on who becomes the king ... This one seems more like an "action" take on the story.

i prefer watching warriors battle it out rather than all the political shenanigans ... Though when it comes to books, i prefer the reverse

I think it may be due to the nature of their history. The fourth prince was actually like that, while in Goryeo, they were more warrior orientated.

I have only one request. That they make her time travel scene better than the one in the Chinese version. That scene was so cringe-worthy and ridiculous.

Hahaha yea that was hilarious, hopefully if there's CG it won't be as bad.

IU...I also wish you never meet him so that I can have Lee Jun Ki all to myself. Pity IU, he is the central of the princely conflict but I understand it's tough to be surrounded by beautiful men especially up against Lee Jun Ki. And we the women doing the most gushing.

Ok, so I love these posters... but they remind me of Chinese "sageuks," and not Korean ones?? Does anyone else find the hairstyle and the clothing more Chinese-looking than Korean?

Picture no. 3, with sunlight glinting off the lake, is GORGEOUS. Reminds me of a scene in the Chinese drama, "Zheng Huan Zhuan" (aka "The Legend of Zheng Huan"), where Zheng Huan is hiding on a lake, at night.

I think it's because Korean "Segeuks" usually take place in the Joseon era. In this era you see the usual Hanbok. This drama takes place during the Goryeo era. Besides China and Korea are so close to each other that it wouldn't be hard to imagine both countries taking inspiration from each other during all those dynasties and eras.

This type of costuming was pretty much the Goryeo era fashion attire. You see it in other dramas like Empress Ki, Jumong, Faith and so on.

It's reasonable to expect Goryeo clothing to be somewhat similar to Chinese clothing at that era. I'm pretty sure hanbok took inspiration from Tang dynasty clothing as well. A huge group of South Asian countries were under Chinese influence because of their proximity. Vietnam's ao dai had Chinese origins too. It helps to know a little about Asian history when you watch sageuks ;)

Goryeo was still old school and had the same style from the 3 kingdom era. This was very early Goryeo. King Taejo, the Wang princes father was the first king of Goryeo.

I think the early 3 kingdom era (Goguryeo,Shilla and Baekje) was influenced by the Han dynasty and later Shilla by Tang through their alliance after the fall of Goguryeo.

I think it started to change when Goryeo became a vessel state of Yuan. The intermarriages between the Mongolian princesses and Goryeo princes brought with them their own traditional fashion, style etc.

Aw, IU doesn't get that weird motion video that LJK got? I would've loved to see different perspectives on that dress!

But damn. She's wearing so many extravagant dresses from the pictures I'm seeing. Must be nice having multiple rich princes fall in love with you, huh?

There is one. But she didn't really move that much compared to LJK, didn't really get a side profile of the dress

Wow! The first poster reminded me of Carol from Ouke No Monshou (The Nile Princess) manga with the same time travelling heroine set during the Pharaoh dynasty. Especially the way she held the flowers. I was so obsessed with that manga so the image triggered the memory. Also the fact that the heroine fell in love the young. prince / Pharaoh in the manga, so it kinda gave the same vibe. Will definitely watch this drama.

What a lovely Oh Snap! bombing.

IU looks beautiful, more womanly beautiful in this drama and/or setting. I love to see her transformation from a young talented beautiful woman few years ago into the current IU. She has confidence and allure that radiates through her every pores. ❤❤❤

Idk, the thing is sometimes i find IU expression in some still so bland and lack of emotion, like i can't tell what she feels atm. on other hand in the still where she smiles, she looks more lively and beautiful.
