Countdown for W–Two Worlds begins with shiny new posters

Only two weeks left until W–Two Worlds premieres on MBC! Now that we’re closer to the air date, pretty shiny new posters have just been released. I have been so waiting to watch this romantic alternate-universe melodrama. First, I was excited because this will be Han Hyo-joo’s (Beauty Inside) first real comeback to the small screen since her hit sageuk Dong-yi six years ago. Then there’s noona-killer Lee Jong-seok (Pinocchio). Last, but not least, the story sounds compelling and unique. While there have been a couple time-traveling romances in dramaland, there really haven’t been many alternate universe stories, if any.

Lee Jong-seok is playing the part of Kang-chul, who is a flower boy/chaebol/perfect athlete/genius extraordinaire. Essentially, he is the ultimate dreamboat fantasy of all straight women out there. Unfortunately, he isn’t real. He is the main character of a manhwa by a renowned webtoon artist who has gone missing. However, one day Kang-chul literally leaps off the pages of his manhwa world, and lands in the real universe (which Han Hyo-joo’s character inhabits). His teaser poster ominously states, “Now, you cannot go back.”

In her poster, it says, “I’m certain she is the key to my life.” Han Hyo-joo plays Oh Yeon-ju, the bright, warm-hearted daughter of the missing artist, a surgeon with an affectionate and sincere heart. Presumably, W–Two Worlds will tackle the story of their journey together as Kang-chul tries to find a way to go back to his world and Yeon-ju tries to uncover the whereabouts of her missing father. The screenwriter behind this project is Song Jae-jung, who also wrote the time-travel thriller drama Nine, so we know the mystery-suspense aspect will be on point.

W–Two Worlds will air Wednesday-Thursday on MBC starting July 20. Let the countdown begin!

I love how consistent they are with the whole comic book style in their promotions. It reminds me a bit of Misaeng when they did their promos. Good filter and design style.
I think I'm starting to finally feel the hype for this.

Actually, Song Jae-jung and the actor who plays the missing father have been working together with the Misaeng webtoon artist for guidance on how to create the webtoon/what working as a webtoon artist is like etc.

I've been thinking it would actually be really cool if MBC released some of the W webtoon. Hell, if they released some of it before, we may already be Kang-chul fangirls by the time the drama starts. Can't think of a better way to promote the drama than that.

Not really the webtoon, but did you see that MBC just released some manhwa covers for W? :D

Oh my gosh. Thank you for that, soapbox. So, um... what do we have to do to make this an actual manhwa?

Those are truly amazing! thanks.

I kinda tricked my sister (a newly baptized LJS fan) into thinking that this drama is an adaptation of an actual webtoon, and that they picked LJS for his uncanny resemblance to the main character. call it gullibility but she bit what I offered. hence, she's searching for the webtoon online to read first, before the drama starts...

@ Chandler
Thanks Chandler, good to know the director is reaching out to an artist on guidance to make things more realistic.

I just realised this drama is basically like a fangirls dream come to life lol Well except for the whole death scenario.

@Soapbox
Oooooo those artwork are nice! I’m a sucker for good art, now I’m even more interested in the drama.

Didn’t Park Hae Jin have a manwha being made about him for his fan club to promote his drama? I swear I read that somewhere…

OH! So that's what those are! I followed the show on Facebook and they dropped all those pics. I knew they were some kind of promotional material but not what.

I have to say our lead really looks good turned into a manhwa character. I mean the style SUITS him and I am not any particular fanboy for him.

That is an encouraging thought! Any director that takes serious input will make a great set of choices. Now lets hope the writing/acting backs it up.

Funny enough the creator of Misaeng is a consultant for the "work style and method for the creation of webtoon." the one inside of the drama which LJS's character lives in

This reminds me of zoe kazan's 'ruby sparks'...Which had it's own reasons for standing out...A very fresh concept where the author's self created heroine becomes his own heroine lol...Only difference was she existed anyway before the story even happened. Can't wait to see how W's plot unfolds...Anyway another one that comes in mind is the cliched but endearing 'enchanted' from patrick dempsey..

The drama line up this summer is insane. So many to watch so little time...And my schedule at work is getting on the way.

I'm so excited for W and Scarlet:Ryeo...

Agreed. I can usually find the time to watch additional weekend drama or J-drama in addition to all weekday and some weekend dramas, but this year, it has been tough, and looks like it wouldn't get better. I am not complaining tho - I am so happy as drama addict- 2016 is best year!

The premise reminds me of Nakuna, Hara-Chan where the mangaka's main character came through the comic book when it was shaken. I enjoyed that drama and I'm so looking forward to enjoying this one.

Can I just point out how much I love that both leads are equally involved in the action here? I loved Nine and QIHM, but one thing that bothered me was that the female leads weren't really involved in the time-travel aspects. Nothing I held against them, but it does keep them from being involved in the meatier conflicts, aside from the romantic separation/angst. Here, It feels like the leads are going to be in this together because the female lead has an active stake in the underlying conflict. That gets me really excited for this.

I'm so excited for this drama! I'm keeping my expectations low since I know juggling between a fictional world and a real world narrative is hard when it comes to dramas but it's Lee Jongsuk...and he as well as his BFF Kim Woobin are two of my weaknesses when it comes to kdramas.

i doubt they can beat UF and Wanted.
Han Hyo Joo is really hated right now.

HHJ not really hated I guess, the issue involved scandals caused by his brother. my opinion, his brother committed the wrong why should HHJ apologize on his behalf?

UF adropped in rating for episode 2 (TNms )so no guarantee for UF to be a leading too.

Right...
There is always be haters of course but I'm glad that the majority of public can differentiate between actors' personal issue (exclude crimes which damage others) and their projects,...examples: song hye kyo, joo ji hoon. For han hyo joo's case here, the crime did by her brother so we hope public won't bother to mix her "issue" with her career because she is a great actress.

She's still well-loved by the general audience seeing how her appearance in 2dn1 was positively received.

Oh I'm so glad...so that's a proof of what I said above then that actually public don't care at all about her "issue" as long as she is talented and gives good performance and projects.
I'm a fan of jongsuk but I know that han hyo joo is a great actress, so I was so happy after hearing jongsuk will be paired with han hyo joo

Tnms rating isn't the one that counts, it's Nilsen. That stayed the same.

Thats good I hope they both get good ratings honestly. But can I ask whats the difference is it that one is more accurate than the other?

0

and yet her guest appearance still brought in high ratings for 2D1N! even if we speculate that viewers aren't watching it for her, it still indicates that they don't mind tuning in even when she's there. will they be the same viewers for the drama? that much I can't say. but, it's almost similar to the general knowledge of HHJ being hated when it's mostly active k-netizens who are saying that.

I am loving these new posters! I love how creative they are. I'm super excited to watch this drama and I hope it gets good ratings. I love this writer ever since Queen In Hyun's Man so I am looking forward to character Kang Cheol.

Oooh I am so so excited for this show! July 20, come soon please. That said, are Park Shin Hye, Lee Jong Suk and Kim Woo Bin just destined to cross paths one way or other. All their shows would be airing together and UF and W would actually be fighting for ratings, right?

I so wish that these three come in a show together. I can already see the awesome romance and bromance. Oh and I guess this would be one show where I wouldn't want any one guy to get the girl. Instead they should just both ride into the sunset together, leaving PSH fuming! :P

you're right! LoL, my kdrama dream is to see LJS and Lee Min Ho together in a drama. I know I might be hoping to much since their lead male status but still. They both had great chemestry with Woo Bin, not that I think the same about the LMH-PSH pairing even though she was great with LJS at least to me.

I hope this drama is awesome. I love LJS haven't been dissapointed by his acting (even in DS he did a good job), and I watched 2 dramabas with lead actress and she's good.

Hehe.. That's right. I think Woo Bin just KNOWS how to do bromance. he was awesome with Lee Min Ho (though I did not like the show) and his pairing with LJS in School 2013 is the stuff friendship/ bromance legends are made of!

I think we have more of a chance to see them in a movie than a drama. And I heard(in a ljs interview) that LMH and LJS are friends(more like they have each others #'s acquaintances type thing but still lol) so thats def a plus

@obsessedmuch yes, you're right! He's good at it. Sometimes in school 2013 watching them I thought 'could you 2 just kiss and kill the tension and get over it' LOL

@zzzz yes probably that's our only hope :( maybe something like action/rom/com 3 in 1 movie :) they both play those 3 so good! I would have them paired up so we could have bromance *falls out of bed*

let's just enjoy watching them separately and love them like that til the dream comes true

I just scanned through all updates about this drama quickly cos the less i know the better. I just can't wait to see Puppy back on small screen again. I've only watched HHJ in films & her roles are usually quite "heavy" or serious in my opinion, so I'm also excited about how she'd pull off the "fangirl" character in this fantasy drama. also excited about the kissing scenes they talked about LOL.
