Savvy, Ghostess PD comes back with time-traveler’s romance
by javabeans
Ooh, after the fast-flying antics of High School King of Savvy and the adorable screwball comedy of Oh My Ghostess, I am definitely paying attention to PD Yoo Je-won’s next drama, which has just been announced for a fall broadcast on (as the others were) cable channel tvN.
The new series is titled Tomorrow With You, and is described as a fantasy romance between a time-traveler and his spirited wife. Um, you mean like The Time Traveler’s Wife? Even with the obvious title/plot similarity, though, I expect this new drama to be its own thing, given this PD’s distinctive style: fast-paced comic twists, quirky characters, a dash of mistaken identity.
The drama will portray the “sweet and savage” romance between the newlywed couple, and purports to be a feel-good fantasy to watch lightly on a languid day. I’m not really picturing how that translates to drama form, but hey, I’m willing to go with it. A breezy fantasy romance in the hands of a skilled director could be an optimal way to cap off the summer.
Tomorrow With You is in talks to take the Friday-Saturday timeslot following The Good Wife, which follows currently airing human dramedy Dear My Friends. That would put its premiere in September.

see, why couldn't Yoon Doo-joon and Kim Seul-gi's potential reunion have been this one?
They even have the time-travelling thing on lock, but instead we're facing the prospect of the couple with the most sizzling chemistry of 2015 being put back together in the same drama..... as siblings.
/jk, just get someone good for these roles and we're fine.

(by which I mean, fine with this drama. NOT with the prospect of a thwarted Yoon Doo-joon/Kim Seul-gi pairing!)

Dammit, now I want them in it so bad.
But I do trust this PD to get a great cast, regardless.

i thought yoon doo-joon's actual role wasn't specified in any reports? kim seul-gi is ji jin-hee's sister in the drama (but i've never seen the original so idk if they have another sibling in the mix)

This PD manages to get a good cinematographer/cameraman and editor in his team. The camera work that I have seen in his shows is different from others. Though at times I think its too bright or unreal. But it does give the show a different modern look as if using very high tech cameras.

Curious as to how they'll fit in the PD's screwball comedy style with the premise. It sounds like it would lean more towards melo.
But I'd much rather have a charming comedy with heartfelt moments like Ghostess than a weepy drama, so best wishes to Tomorrow With You's team!

How i wish this drama will air on midle year on 2017, and cast Jung Yonghwa & Jung somin, the story is intertesting, but i guess they will cast actress/actor in 30's something reminds me to yoon eun hyexlee donggun, or maybe they will go to Young marriage couple i have no idea who will they cast since my knowlege to the actors/actress isn't that good But I got Nam gong min, Lee bo young, Yoochun, Park hae jin, kim so yeon, park ha sun, han ji min, Ji changwook, Jin goo??? for this drama hahaha nvm

Yeah, the latter third of the drama was unexpected...but I think the former 2/3's all but redeemed the show for me. A selective memory can do wonders!

One of the final episodes literally felt like a different show (some cop drama or something) I could barely finish it.
Unfortunately for me I found that whole drama uneven and poorly paced. I like the actors and there were a lot of fun and cute moments, but I can't even watch it because I have to skip so much.

I was thinking of JCW, too. It's time for him to return to Korea. Enough with all those Chinese dramas.

How much does the PD have to do w/ things like - "fast-paced comic twists, quirky characters, a dash of mistaken identity."
Maybe the PD has some input as the series goes on, but isn't that dependent on the writer?
For instance, "Triple" had the excellent PD from "Coffee Prince," - but the PD couldn't do much to improve the uninspired writing.
