EPISODE 2 RECAP
A little out of her mind at the thought of earning so much money, Hye-soo tells Ji-hoon that she’ll marry him. He’s so surprised he can’t speak, until Ho-joon arrives and Ji-hoon learns that Hye-soo actually works for him. But now that the spell is broken, Ji-hoon grows angry and Hye-soo backtracks, telling him to forget what she said.
After she’s gone, it’s Ho-joon who’s surprised — he had no idea that he accidentally hired the “swindler,” the same woman who they think is trying to fake injury from the non-existent car accident. While he doesn’t order her fired, Ji-hoon does demand a full background check on Hye-soo. He also tells Ho-joon to make sure Hye-soo doesn’t repeat what she heard them discussing tonight.
Ho-joon is firmly against Ji-hoon’s plan to find a fake wife who can donate part of her liver to his mother, but Ji-hoon tells him to find someone, no matter what it takes. There must be illegal brokers for this sort of thing.
The coast is finally clear when Hye-soo piggybacks the sleeping Eun-sung home, and she tucks her tiny daughter into bed. She thinks again about what she overheard tonight, and smiles at the thought of so much money, then calls herself crazy for even thinking about it.
Ji-hoon’s mother — her name is OH MI-RAN (Lee Hwi-hyang) — goes missing from her hospital bed, and she dresses to the nines and takes herself back to President Han’s house. He’s not pleased to see her, and he hasn’t been well lately, but she’s brought him his birthday present, some porridge that she made herself.
President Han demands to know what Mi-ran wants, but she says she doesn’t want anything from him anymore. She bows to him and says that she’s here to say her final goodbye. President Han scoffs that she’s said her “final goodbye” to him so many times, but Mi-ran promises that this is really the last time he’ll ever see her.
She asks bitterly how precious she was to him, revealing the real reason for this visit. But just when it seems that he might answer her, his wife bursts into the room. She angrily kicks Mi-ran out, and Mi-ran spits at her that she should hate her husband, instead of defending him so fiercely.
The president’s wife shoves Mi-ran so hard that she falls to the floor, right at Ji-hoon’s feet as he enters the house. She drops the crock of porridge so that it shatters, and this finally seems to upset Mi-ran. She cries, “What did I do wrong? It’s your husband’s fault. Tell him to compensate me for my life!!”
Ji-hoon takes his mother back to the hospital, fussing at her for putting her health in danger. She’s feeling the closeness of her death and says that she just wanted to say goodbye to his father, and he sits with her while she calms down. She apologizes for sending him to his father’s house so young — she was scared, and didn’t have confidence she could raise him herself.
She says that he was always a good boy, kind and nice… but for someone like her, that niceness was too hard to handle. She knows she’s a bad person, and selfish for begging him to save her. But she hopes that he doesn’t hate her too much, and will think of her after she’s gone.
I honestly can’t tell if she’s being sincere, or laying it on thick to guilt Ji-hoon even further. But either way, Ji-hoon falls for it, and promises that he won’t let her die that easily.
The next morning, Ji-hoon asks Ho-joon if he’s found any brokers, and Ho-joon reluctantly hands over a list of candidates. This whole thing makes him nervous, and he makes his feelings known.
Hye-soo is praised for her sauce-making skills by the gruff head chef Soo-chang, and he growls that Ho-joon finally hired the right person. I’m beginning to suspect Soo-chang is just a big marshmallow.
Ho-joon pulls Hye-soo aside to ask her about the conversation she overheard last night, but she claims she heard nothing. They go back down to the restaurant to find a commotion — the loan shark has found where Hye-soo works, and he pushes her down when she tries to pull him outside. Seung-joo jumps to her defense and fists fly, while Ji-hoon watches calmly from the sidelines.
He finally asks the loan shark to talk to him outside, but that’s when chef Soo-chang arrives to loom over the loan shark threateningly. The shark smashes a vase in his face, but Soo-chang doesn’t even flinch (okay so he’s a tough marshmallow), and he finally intimidates the loan shark into leaving. For now.
As they clean up the mess, Seung-joo asks why Hye-soo didn’t tell him she was in debt. She assures him that she’s paying it back and asks him not to tell her former mother-in-law.
She goes to Ji-hoon’s office to apologize and offer to repay him for the damage, and she knows that this has cost her her job. She also gives him back the money that he pushed on her at the hospital, explaining that he misunderstood her. He snidely asks if she can afford to give the money back, but Hye-soo replies that she’ll handle her own personal issues.
It’s time for Ji-hoon to meet a prospective bride, and yeesh, she’s a hot mess. She’s obviously much older than they expected, using makeup and overly-cute mannerisms to try and appear younger. Ji-hoon tells Ho-joon to find someone else.
Hye-soo gets her deposit back from her landlord, and panics for a moment when she can’t find Eun-sung. The girl is hiding in the closet with a choco-pie with a paper candle in it, to congratulate her mother on getting a job. Awww, she’s just the best. Hye-soo doesn’t tell her she lost her job, but pretends to blow out the “candle” and shares the choco-pie with her daughter, fighting off tears.
Ji-hoon can’t get Hye-soo off his mind, and the way she offered to marry him. He meets with his brother Jung-hoon for dinner, who brings his fiancee Na-yoon to meet Ji-hoon. While Jung-hoon goes to the restroom, we learn that Ji-hoon and Na-yoon do know each other from their music school days, and used to date, but things are now awkward and strained between them.
Ji-hoon pokes at the wound a little, asking why her father is marrying her off to a divorced man — what does her family get out of the match with his brother? Na-yoon reminds him that he broke up with her, sp he has no right to be mean about this marriage.
Jung-hoon rejoins them, and invites Ji-hoon to Na-yoon’s recital later in the week and telling him to bring a girlfriend. Jung-hoon claims to love his brother, but he tells Na-yoon how he came to live with them at the age of twelve, and used to cry all the time, and that he only studies music to meet women. I don’t think I like this guy.
The next morning, Ji-hoon goes to Hye-soo’s place, having gotten her address off of her job application. The landlord thinks he’s another loan shark and chases him off, telling him that Hye-soo moved already. But he only gets to the end of the street before he sees her, working at the corner grocery store.
He takes her to a nearby hotel to talk. He asks if she would still be willing to consider marrying him, and lays out the details: his mother needs a liver transplant, and he needs someone who can donate part of their liver to save her life. Whoever it is will be his fake wife, and it’s illegal and dangerous, so could she do it?
He basically tells Hye-soo to name her price, but she wants time to think about it. Ji-hoon handles it all wrong, mentioning her debt and telling her not to try to play games to get more money, since he’ll pay whatever she wants. But that hurts Hye-soo’s pride, especially when he mentions Eun-sung and the fact that he saw Hye-soo eyeing a job advertisement for a nightclub.
When he pretty much calls her stupid for cosigning for her dead husband’s debt, Hye-soo has had enough. She tells him that she won’t help him, and leaves. Ji-hoon chases her to the lobby, but his brother and a business acquaintance sees them there, and he has to let her go.
They’re staying with Joo-yeon for now, and Joo-yeon is sleeping with Eun-sung when Hye-soo gets home. She sends everyone back to sleep, and wonders if she’s crazy for even considering this plan. The next night, the loan sharks find Hye-soo at her new job, but she’s made a payment so they don’t cause any trouble. they pretend to be cheerful and friendly, but the threat is clear — they’ll find her wherever she goes.
Hye-soo takes a day off and makes lunch for Joo-yeon, and she decides to relax and have a beer for the first time in a long time. But when the tab breaks so it won’t open, it’s just the final straw, and Hye-soo bursts into giggles which soon turn to helpless tears. “Even the can ignores me. Isn’t it too cruel?” Poor thing, she’s just barely holding on.
She goes to Eun-sung’s school during recess just to get a look at her daughter’s face, which cheers her up. Next she heads to the hospital for the results of her physical, and is called in to speak with the doctor.
She’s told that there’s a tumor in her brain, though she claims she’s never felt sick or anything. It’s not operable, so the doctor wants to do radiation therapy, telling Hye-soo that the survival rate for this kind of tumor is low.
Hye-soo shuffles through the hospital lobby in a daze, only snapping out of it when a little girl falls nearby and cries out for her mother. For a moment, Hye-soo sees the little girl as Eun-sung, crying for her, and the crushing weight of the news she’s just gotten hits her.
Eun-sung goes to Promise after school to see her mom, not knowing that Hye-soo doesn’t work there anymore. Seung-joo finds her and realizes that this is his cousin’s daughter, and brings her inside for ice cream.
Ji-hoon is still trying to reach Hye-soo, but she’s not answering her phone. He sees Eun-sung, and they hilariously bristle at each other. Eun-sung tips her stool over and Ji-hoon falls trying to catch it, which just makes the little imp laugh at him. I’m gonna fall in love with these two together, aren’t I?
At dinner, Eun-sung tells her mom that she went by the restaurant, and Hye-soo makes her promise not to go there again. But she tells Hye-soo about the handsome ajusshi who gave her ice cream, and Hye-soo figures she met Seung-joo. She catches Eun-sung putting aside some fish for the stray kitten at the restaurant, and feeling bad that she can’t even give her daughter something so normal as a pet, she helps her.
Ji-hoon grows so frustrated at not being able to reach Hye-soo that he kicks his drum set over, and Ho-joon has to physically restrain him. Ji-hoon finally gasps to just find another woman, though they both lunge for his phone when it rings, hoping it’s Hye-soo calling back. But it’s the hospital — Mi-ran has taken a turn for the worse.
That night after Joo-yeon and Eun-sung fall asleep, Hye-soo can’t sleep for all the thoughts rushing around in her head. She dusts off an old photo album, and looks through the pictures of Eun-sung taken as she grew from babyhood to now. When she reaches a picture of herself with her husband, Hye-soo speaks to his photo:
“Da-en oppa, I hate you. Today, I hate you even more. Can’t you help me from there?” She finally lets herself cry, whimpering in her attempt to keep her daughter from hearing. Oh, this just breaks my heart.
The next day, Hye-soo runs into Ji-hoon at the hospital, where he’s waiting for news on his mother and holding in his own tears. She approaches him with determination, and tells him that she’s changed her mind. She asks what they should do first, and he says they have to sign a contract.
When he asks how much money she wants, Hye-soo looks him right in the eyes: “Give me a lot. Until my daughter grows up, until she can live on her own — the amount I will need until then.”
COMMENTS
This show is not going to be an easy watch, though I mean that in the very best way. I simply cannot imagine what it must be like to be in Hye-soo’s situation. Widowed at a young age, left with a crushing debt she can never hope to repay, uneducated and unskilled (except for her cooking ability) and with a small child to raise. Any one of those things would be enough to break a person, yet she’s so strong, and she’s willing to do whatever she has to to provide for her daughter. And I love that she’s not fiercely proud or anything — in fact her strength and determination are so tranquil and personal, yet you can see it almost like an aura around her. She’s not aggressive about it, she just has her own set of moral values, and she upholds them quietly and firmly.
But then to find out that she’s got a brain tumor, and one with a low survival rate even with treatment, which Hye-soo can’t possible afford… well, that’s the point at which most people would break. I can’t believe she hasn’t completely checked out. But it’s that strength and love for Eun-sung which gets her back up every time, and it’s what will push her to accept Ji-hoon’s insane proposal. And it’s totally in line with her character that what has pushed her to make this decision is not money, or her own comfort, but the need to find a way to take care of Eun-sung after she’s gone. Her life revolves around her baby girl, and now so will her death. (And I must mention how impressed I am with UEE in this role — I’ve always liked her well enough, but she’s playing Hye-soo with a maturity I’ve never seen from her before. I love it.)
I’m really starting to suspect that my favorite relationship in this show is going to be Ji-hoon and Eun-sung. She doesn’t care one whit about his attempt to stay super dignified, and even seem to enjoy getting his goat. She’s so lively and adorable, even with her way of taking every opportunity to tease him, because it’s not malicious, just a little girl having a bit of fun at his expense. Add to that her talent with insight, and the ability to see right through the adults’ white lies to the truth, and Ji-hoon doesn’t stand a chance. He’s not going to be able to hold out against the force of her charm for long.
I touched on this before, but I really just absolutely love how the show never exposits at us, but lets the characters tell you about themselves in their own time. It’s as if we’ve truly just dropped in on their lives in progress, and are learning about them a little at a time. What seem like throwaway comments are really wonderful nuggets of information, such as how Ji-hoon’s mother said that he was so nice and kind when he was young… it seems out of character for him now, but gives the viewers an idea of who he really is on the inside (and backs up my theory that his gruff exterior is a necessary coat of armor he’s developed to survive in a house where he was an imposter to at least two of the three living there). Another good example is how Hye-soo said in the first episode that her husband was just too trusting, so we know that she didn’t marry a bad man who took out loans all the time, but someone who probably was just gullible and an easy mark for loan sharks.
Now that all of the information is in place and Hye-soo has made a definite decision, I’m looking forward to the plot moving just a bit faster. Not that I mind the leisurely pace of the first two episodes, not one bit, it’s just that I love these characters so much already that I’m dying to see them start to open up to each other. It certainly won’t be easy for them, but I have a feeling that it’s going to be wildly entertaining to watch.

Thank you! Normally I avoid weekend dramas like the plague but after hearing you guys decided to pick it up again, I cautiously watched the first episode, and now I'm a goner.
Oh, Mr. Grumpypants, what have you done to me? God, how I've missed Lee Seo-jin.
I've never found UEE particularly great, but I must say that she's proving me wrong here. I'm surprising myself with how moved I am with a lot of her scenes, and here, she isn't just playing Hye-soo, she *is* Hye-soo.
And the little girl playing Eun-sung is just an adorable firecracker and I just want to reach through the screen and scoop her up.
So despite my wariness going in about all the typical drama tropes of cancer and contracts and fake marriages and certifiably insane makjang families, I can now safely say that I'm hooked.
Thank you so much for deciding to pick this back up and I cannot wait to read the recaps to come!

Uee can be hit or miss depending on the roles. I've watched 4 of her dramas including this.
The only reason i can still watch her is because i've watched OB and i think she can delivers. It doesn;t mean she is a superb actress or anything. It just simply means she can carry her role well enough.
For an idol turn actress. That's good enough and she's improving minus HS madness. So i will give her props for that. Her crying scene is improving though and i like the solemn atmosphere that goes with Hye Soo.

agreed with everything you said!
i've liked UEE ever since ojakgyo brothers too, and it's still my favorite drama she's been in. (enjoyed her in hogu's love too) but even though i like her, i've never really raved about her acting or thought it was lacking either... it's just... pretty good, if you know what i mean! keep it up UEE!

Ohh I never watched OB but heard positive reviews about her from that drama. I have seen her in one of two dramas before but I never liked her acting. HS was a huge disappointment for me.
But thank God, I finally opened my heart for her. ;) But i noticed she is too skinny nowadays, or maybe it is because of her role.

I feel like UEE's got the skill because honestly, I've liked her acting in previous dramas(even if I hated their plots) and any actress can't show her full potential if she lands in a pile of bad writing and directing. Given from what I've seen, UEE has always tried her best to be a serious actress and be viewed as such, so I've always admired her. Honestly, she ranks as one of my favorite actresses even if her shows aren't my favorites.

Yes i agreed with this! Uee did a great job with her character in this drama..this is totally different from her past drama (i mean Ojakgyo brothers, the privileged, golden rainbow and etc...)
she even makes me feel the emotions when she is crying ( i mean in this drama lol ;-) )
same to ajussi..LSJ is Mr. Grumpypants such a great combination both of them. ;)

Maybe it's just me - but the "giddy" outburst borders a little on creepy does it not?
I would like to think this is a dude seriously stressed out (family ... that father who expects him to jump immediately at the snap of a finger, ... the 'superficially nice' but secretly jealous step-mom ... the pesky insecure brother ... the clingy Na Yang ... the pressure to make the restaurant work and glow to prove something ... his biological mom and her health/emotional issues ... and the overall hospital stress) ... that this was a resulting OTT pent up release.
Totally loving the Eun-Sung/ajjushi LOVE otherwise!

I agree with you when i went back to watch the full episode and the previous episode. Still need to go back to start from ep 1. Felt like it was coming from outta ... sorta nowhere? And situations all around felt pretty dire.
But I was so caught up with the Grumpypants to High School boy in Love transformation, I just had a giant smile on my face.

Screw it.
I'm going to comment for every episode despite being on the 6th episode for now.
I mean LollyPip can, why can't i?
Can i talk about Mr Grumpypants first? I will call LSJ, Mr Grumpypants because he is indeed one in this drama. LOL. Honestly, he comes across as quite a jerk. I mean not that jerk with painful past, per se as obvious as meta lead - Greatest Love or Hyun Bin. He is just a jerk on my eyes. Haha. I find it rather troubling to understand whether it's on purpose on LSJ side or it's just the way he is acting. I decide to settle on it is just the way Ji Hoon is.
He loves his mom, wasn't a super expressive dude, temperamental but that does not mean he is all bad. He clearly wants to satisfy his family members at most. But.. *drumrolls* he just think the girl is rather stupid to take everything on her own. There's always other choices. Like maybe, give her daughter away (?)
Clearly it wasn't an option for Hye Soo. Her daughter is her reason to live.
Later though, you can see the parallel between Ji Hoon's mom and Hye Soo situation. Let's wait until next ep. LOL
I can honestly understand where everyone is coming from even Ji Hoon's mom, so i continue on watching. It gets better each episode which is awesome really.

Ha, from what I've seen on Three Meals a Day, LSJ is Mr. Grumpypants in real life. I think I've also read that he's a real-life chaebol (please correct me if I'm wrong), in which case he's pretty much just playing himself in this drama. Fine by me -- I love it! :-)

I think part of what draws me in is the situations they're in. Neither main character is able to do what they want to do in life, and both are filled with loneliness. They make a great pair emotionally; add in Eun-Sung, who just lightens the air with her adoreableness, and you've got a perfect family. I guess what I'm really desperately hoping for is their happiness at the end of all this.
I gotta say something about Ji-Hoon though. I'm pretty sure he only does this when he's frustrated, but his tendency to yell and throw fits is sorta worrisome. Even if he's under pressure, in real life it'd be a little scary. In fact, I'm probably saying this because Ji-Hoon seems so much like my own dad, but still, I have qualms about his temper, even if the show isn't gonna treat it as a major plot point or anything.
That said, there's just something about the person playing Ji-Hoon (and Hye-Soo) that draws me to them(maybe it's the desperation they both share and their willingness to do illegal things that makes them so intriguing?) and I REALLY REALLY REALLY adore these characters. I rewatched the 6th episode about 10 times, just for their solidifying interactions and tumultuous conflicts.
This drama gives small patches of comedy when needed but also focuses more on the darker and heavier aspects. Since most shows these days don't carry this sort of air, it's unique and fascinating. At this point, I'm just raving for more.
BTW, I'd like to say, kudos to Ho-Joon and Eun-Sung for bringing such great breaths of fresh air to this heavy drama. I'd never realized how hilarious Ho-Joon could be, but he cracks me up. This casting was spot-on. Also, how the heck did Soo-Chang's skull not crack when that vase slammed into his head?? This guy's tough as nails.

The chaebol dad also not easily deceived.

Thanks LollyPip!
What would make this show almost perfect:
- No 2nd lead ex-gf. Poor Kim Yoo Ri seems typecast in that kind of role.
- No chaebol machinations and interference... but I guess that means it will be more boring?
- Ji Hoon not being such a bully towards poor Ho Joon. It will of course make his melting over Eun Sang that much more noteworthy, but still, it would be nice to have a chaebol lead with a nicer personality towards underlings, who after all are not at fault that he had to give up his dream.
Some parts that make this story a little different from most weekend melos ...
- At least the chaebol mother is not half bad, the half-brother seems willing enough to be friendly (for now) and the chaebol father is positive towards and fair enough to the son of his mistress.
- Hye Soo does at least have a couple of people she can turn to, but they could also add complications to her life. However this is more realistic than being totally friendless.
Other things I like about this show (in addition to what I mentioned at the Ep 1 recap)
- Hye Soo is actually a competent chef and can hold her own if given a fair chance.
- Eun Sang is played exactly right as a pre-maturely mature child with so much love to give and a greater understanding of the difficulties her mother is facing than one gives her credit for.

I'd like to know what the chaebol mother is thinking, honestly. It can't be pleasing to know your husband has an affair, but they seem to be on ok relations all the same. Was theirs a marriage of convenience? Sorta spoilerish, but it's shown in a flashback that she started to raise Ji-Hoon seemingly without complaint after he arrived at the chaebol house. I just can't get a clear read on her.
Also, I forsee some danger with some of the side characters, because of all the people in this drama, they're sorta unpleasant and single-minded at times. What I really hope is that this drama doesn't use them in the worst ways possible.

I guess it is a pity about the side characters, but with so many characters overall, I guess most of them are going to remain flat, one-note characters.
I hope for (expect) more nuance for characters of Ji Hoon's mum and Hye Soo's cousin-in-law to understand their attitudes.
I also hope for (but don't really expect) more info about Na Yoon, Ho Joon and Hye Soo's best girlfriend.
We know in the way of melodramas, that the many side characters are just standing by to add plot twists and conflict to drive the story along, but I'd always like to regard them as fuller characters in their own right, if only there were an opportunity to flesh them out more. :)

"Eun Sang is played exactly right as a pre-maturely mature child with so much love to give and a greater understanding of the difficulties her mother is facing than one gives her credit for."
Same observation! I can't describe that exact thing that I like about the way Eun-sung is written, but to me, her characterization is very much real and close to real life kids. So endearing, just enough brattiness, and a really big heart for her momma. #love

I was kind of stunned in Ep 6 by his reaction actually. Was wondering what he was so giddy about at first! :D

haha yes, I thought at some point it was a bit too much with all the exaggerating reaction with the big smile, playing the drum and all. But, it was so funny to think this is because the little girl accepting him in her life, rather than a grown woman love him.

I fell in love with this drama, and i am looking for this writer's other drama. Probably will try In Soon is Pretty (2007's drama). It is only 16 episodes anyway.
Read the recap by JB on first 2 episodes, but I will see it by myself to decide if is worthy to watch or not. Nowadays I am looking Kim Hyun Joo's past projects, so since she was the main character I will try it.

I just want to say I love this drama.
I agree about the way they inform us about a lot of thing.
I find the character are eandaring and they matched.
I could see the temperamental ahjussi, hye soo and eun sang as family.
The waiting period kill me,
I simply loved the tone of this drama

I'm seriously crushing on that Head Chef guy... Something really dangerous about him, in a hot, forbidden way **blush** Must be all those macho muscles in contrast with him being a refined chef.

Loved the recap LollyPip! People say the first two episodes were so-so for them but I didn't sense that with this drama. Something about each character makes me patient to watch their advancement each week. Though I'm on the current episode 6, it's nice to read up those small beginnings where Ji-hoon and Hye-soo show us they aren't robots and actually have human emotions. Ji-hoon at that point "where he’s waiting for news on his mother and holding in his own tears..." and Hye-soo when she sheds her pride to choose to take the contract, saying, "Give me a lot. Until my daughter grows up, until she can live on her own — the amount I will need until then.”
Well that's not asking much, hah. By this episode I knew I loved this two and wanted them to win whatever battle they face. It's Ep. 6 and I'm still rooting for them. Can't wait till the recaps catch up so we can really tear this party up!!

Thank you for taking time to recap this drama. I didn't expect to love and get attached to the characters this much. I'm on episode 6 and i know it's too early to say this but i want a happy ending for Ji Hoon, Hye Soo and her adorable little girl.

'I touched on this before, but I really just absolutely love how the show never exposits at us, but lets the characters tell you about themselves in their own time. It’s as if we’ve truly just dropped in on their lives in progress, and are learning about them a little at a time. '
----
This, absolutely.I love the subtlety of this show,so much.I am kinda glad that I found out this gem, having this preconceived idea in mind that this is just another drama, when it's not.The story is very mute and the narrative is done in a commonplace kind of way,and that's what I loved about the drama the most.Even if the story has been told a thousand times, the direction that the story is taking is so fresh and cute,so even the awkward pairing between these two character is heartily enjoying.

My favorite moment out of this episode was when Hye-soo found out about the tumor, and she has this innocent look about her face--as if a child trying to figure out something she didn't know before. I thought Uee was really good in that scene. Actually, she is really good in this show. I've watched her plenty enough--almost back to back--in Hogu's Love and High Society. Liked her in the former, hated her in the latter; in here, she is just so good and I connect to her character even if I am far from that situation. Gah, I'm at episode 6 and this show just keeps getting better. The writing is very nice, and quite my style ♥

UEE is really killing this role! And, oh boy! Am I impressed by her acting.
That scene where she sits in a corner of the apartment and stifles her sobs so that neither her unni or her child could hear her was so realistic and heartfelt. I was blown away! I love, love the chemistry between LSJ and UEE, looking at them as a couple, you can never tell there is an 18 years age difference between them. They are so natural together.
I love the ensemble cast, they are mostly seasoned actors and very strong together. At first, I couldn't understand Ji hoon's mother's dramatics and why she would go so far to humiliate herself in someone else's house, but as the story unfolds, I understood why.
Thanks for recapping this, LollyPip, you must have a full plate recapping numerous dramas simultaneously. Hope you stay strong.
Fighting!

Take care of your health!
I've watched the series until ep 6, but i really want to know the story from your point of view.
And as always, you write the exact feelings that i cannot describe myself when watching this drama.
You can't help to root for Eunsung and Jihoon. Their relationship will make all the difference compare to previous alike-drama.
Eventhou it shows that the leads are Hyesoo and Jihoon...but the show somehow makes me think that its all about Eunsung.
Both leads will protect and love this firecracker until the end of time, and ensure Eunsung realize it.
And who can't resist a show with this kind of love?
*sniff

Right now Eunsung is who binds it all together. So happy they chose that little actress to play her.

you are right,
it's really gonna be all about Eun Sung and it's the right balance to make them realize about themselves and (maybe) their love for each other,
Hye soo always distant herself from too much relation to someone but she can't predict how eunsang would react.
The adult always wear logic on their shoulder and it's given since they have too much to think but eunsang balance it all with her heart.
