Madam Antoine highlights phony seer and quirky experiment

Posters are out for JTBC’s upcoming drama Madam Antoine, and they do a good job of conveying the colorful, fun vibe of the show that’s highlighting its quirky rom-com bent. It’ll be an opposites-attract romance, pitting a phony fortuneteller (Han Ye-seul) against a logical-minded psychologist (Sung Joon) and letting the sparks (hopefully) fly.

In the first poster above, the copy informs us: “A fortuneteller who doesn’t understand fate meets a psychologist who doesn’t understand love.” She’s described as being able to discern people’s feelings with keen insight, which is how she presumably pulls off the all-seeing act despite being a quack psychic. Her character poster below reads, “My eyes see all, what kind of person you are…”

Sung Joon’s character, meanwhile, is called a renowned “soul doctor” who treats Hollywood stars. He and So Ji-sub should team up and open up shop, treating all these fictional Hollywood celebs together. He initiates a kind of psychology experiment, and it sounds like our main cast members all get roped in somehow. His character poster reads, “Want to try a very interesting experiment with me?”

Jung Jin-woon plays a baseball player who’s described as an “icon of positivity,” always radiating an aura of health and optimism. Full of life, frank-speaking, and cheerful, he falls into a love triangle with the two leads that’s described as rather odd. Well, I am all for odd. His character poster says, “I’ll do my best with this experiment. Because I like that woman for real.”

Last, we have Lee Joo-hyung plays a genius with all of the book smarts, and maybe not so much in the way of love smarts. He tosses out his thoughts directly without much care for the other person’s feelings, and that has a way of rendering people speechless around him. He starts to learn about love when he participates in the hero’s experiment, but that also reveals the bumbling side to the genius. His poster asks, “What do I have to do… to make her love me?” Something tells me you won’t find that answer in a book.

Madam Antoine is directed by PD Kim Yoon-chul (Could We Love, My Name Is Kim Sam-soon) and written by Hong Jin-ah of The King 2 Hearts, Beethoven Virus, and Mi-rae’s Choice. The drama premieres in January as JTBC’s next Friday-Saturday drama, following the rebroadcast of Padam Padam that’s currently airing.

Her dress is by Gucci, it looks like quirky fortune-teller stuff but it's $$$$ (guess tvN now has the budget to call in major high fashion brands for wardrobe too).

But this is not a tvN drama is a JTBC's.
Also the dress was used by Soo-young in "Lion Heart" I remember because that dress in particular caught my attention in the video. :)

oop sorry, JTBC, not tvN! Point still remains, cable now has the money to call in $$$ brands for wardrobe, that's quite something.

I don't know who Sooyoung is but I recognised the dress because Jeon Ji-hyun wore a dress with the exact same pattern on the red carpet at Cannes this year, and I believe she endorses Gucci.

That dress caught my eye, too - those accordion pleats are amazing! And the blue adds a bright touch. Those shoes are incredible as well. I may end up watching this just for the fashion and sets if this is any indication.

It's a great dress for the promo and looks perfect for the shoot, but look at that thing and the terrible mink fur sleeves... hard to wear in any other setting

Lovely posters! The whole setup, including the decorations and their clothes, is tasteful. Will certainly keep an eye out for this drama.

Loving the posters and the styling! And really interested in seeing this pairing in action.

I'm always here for people figuring out love and how to do it. It's just one of those things, haha. So hard to learn. >_<

Sung Joon, for your sake and mine, I hope you have finally picked a watchable project.

Han Ye-seul looks lovely as always! She's most likeable when she's playing bold and colourful, so this character should be a good fit for her.

The posters look great. So far, so good!

"Sung Joon, for your sake and mine, I hope you have finally picked a watchable project."

Agreed! His last two projects were so.... well, not exactly watchable lol.

I hope we're going to see something interesting with this premise and this cast. Please be fun, show!

Hmmm... I thought I'd read earlier that Jin Woon would be in a May December romance with an older woman. I wonder if that's fallen by the wayside?

I wonder about that too. Now it seems he's in a love triangle with Han Ye Seul and Sung Joon.

Who cares, just someone rip his shirt off ASAP.

I swear though, I really thought they were angling for a bi- romance with his character in Marriage Not Dating and both the other leads.

High Society pulled me in with wonderful ad and kisses and than well, less said the better. Hopeful with this one being on JTBC and Sung Joon looking like so wonderful actually does better here. I'll wait for the reviews to hit before taking up this one.

I really like the PD but the writer has done a string of bad projects (I still have nightmares about K2H and Mirae's Choice... I got burned badly by both) so I won't get my hopes up.

I totally love the posters though!!

I was pretty meh about this drama before but the colourful posters are pulling me in! Of course, pre-show promo and teasers aren't necessarily a guarantee that a drama will be good, but they've definitely piqued my interest now at least - since dramaland is filled with uninspiring copy-paste-photoshop posters.

My Mom just finished watching I Need Romance 3. But I ended up with a string of texts that usually ranged from 'The main guy is hot!' to 'he definitely knows how to kiss!'

This show looks great! I'm pretty sure my Mom will like this show.

Omg. But will someone know if Jang Mi-hee is still in this project? Her love team with Jung Jin-woon caught my attention. Age gap yes -- but one I look forward to and have marvelous excitement for.
