SBS in talks to bring back second season of Mrs. Cop

Considering that it’s almost unheard of for the Big 3 networks to do multi-season dramas, this could be a very interesting development over at SBS. The network is considering greenlighting a second season of the police action series Mrs. Cop, which aired in August through September of this year and brought in first-place ratings that peaked at 15.8%. Part of me wonders why this drama of all dramas, but I think the short answer is: Everybody loves Kim Hee-ae.
The series stars Kim Hee-ae in an image transformation of sorts, as a tough, job-first-shower-later single mom cop who leads a team of detectives in the violent crimes division. She’s a hothead who gets herself into trouble time and again, but she’s a dogged and resourceful detective with a quippy, blunt, fast-talking manner. I can see why it did well ratings-wise — beyond Kim Hee-ae’s star power, it’s slick and well-produced, and has a solid ensemble.
Kim Min-jong played her division chief and love interest, and her teammates Sohn Ho-joon and Lee Da-hee had a really cute bickering-partners loveline too. I’d argue that it’s not really a drama that’s screaming for a second season — say, to wrap up loose ends in the central mystery, or answer fan outcry for more — but cop procedurals can also go on indefinitely if you feed it enough cases.
Producers are currently in talks with the main cast members to see if they can get the band back together, and SBS is considering it for their 2016 drama schedule. Maybe those of you who’ve seen every episode can weigh in: Mrs. Cop 2 — lock ‘n’ load, or put it to rest?

Why this drama of all dramas?? The plot was actually quite disappointing... very predictable and no climax, just mediocre. A lot of talents wasted for sure.
But it was funny to see Sohn Ho-joon acting all macho and cool, which is so different from his true personality.

I couldn't even finish that drama after the 2nd episode. People like her so why don't the writer and PD create another series for her? That show was pretty mediocre.

This was one aspect that really missed the mark. But the drama was still good if you just forgot about the how it was described originally. It was a bit like Gu Family (no) Book.
That said, I liked the characters well enough to watch another season, but it did have a good ending which is a rarity in dramaland. I suppose I wouldn't mind either way.

Thank you! I don't understand why everybody is calling it "mediocre drama", when it was fantastic. It's not the typical rom-com, or melo. But it was a fun cop drama with a lot of family conflicts. I found it very realistic and I'm expecting with delight a second season, with all the original casting, of course!!!

AT ALL COSTS, I am so excited and so aboard for Season 2. But they should sign Kim Min-jong as well. Season 2, this time, must belong to Kim Hee-ae and Kim Min-jong, whose potentials as a loveteam were incredibly wasted on Season 1. They gave it entirely to the second leads to be together Siggggggh.

Hmm? Not the drama I was expecting for a season 2 but I'm not opposed against it. I loved the team and their closeness (second to none!) but I really hope the if season 2 comes into fruition, the writing and plotting gets a lot better.

i don't mind this drama getting a sequel.. it may not be fantastic but it's quite realistic..the girls in this drama kick-butts and they do not dolled up(young jin doesn't even know where she chuck her lipstick in her messy locker n do-young eats like a pig..hahahaha) coz as workaholic detectives, who got the time to apply make-ups? they're rough yet loveable..
the boys are tough guys but look completely docile compared to the girls.. i would like to see both jae duk and se won have more scenes besides being the class clowns.
and i hope they get to solve different cases instead of focusing on one big, bad guy.

The weird thing is that from all the dramas that i want to see the sequel are mostly from the low rating.

It seems to me that sbs is on a cost conscious philosophy, they have been coming out with heavier content that appeals to older folks. Maybe the production of saimdang killed all of their 2016 budget.

My verdict on Mrs Cop 1 - Done and dusted! Let me explain why: altho I enjoyed her portrayal of the tough as nails cop, the plot and villain were just not gripping enough. The ongoing cases were also quite lackluster, compared to say, the heart pounding cases in other police procedurals like H.I.T and Bad Guys (OCN), pride and prejudice. And other than Sung Hoon and Lee Da Hae who lighted up the screen with their chemistry, I found the other team members rather annonying - esp Lee Min Jung's ex-SWAT Team member now turned Police Chief "I just bought his shirt and I had to punch you and it ruined my shirt!" (pow! boom! crunch!). The fight scenes were good tho', admittedly.
If SBS wants a second season, they better add scarier villians and more original murders and other heinous crimes! fighting!
