MASK KYAAAAAAAAA!!!?too many feels can't think coherently. Love me some min woo and Ji sook. This weeks episodes were daebak, Ji sook finally got a back bone and is kicking ass.Min woo I just want to be hugged and loved,by Ji sook till he forgets he was ever in pain.I also love his bromance with the secretary , too cute "don't look at her, you'll wear her out" episode 12 had many Lol moments but my favorite has to be the cake thing ?, you said one tier, there, one loooong tier to match your five? hehe.
Loved the progress and pacing this week, I read a comment on another site
"There's no in-betweens for this writer ㅋFrom constipation to diarrhea "
which is so random but suits this drama perfectly .
Spoiler
I wonder If seok hoon knows his wife killed Eun Ha or he actually thinks min woo did it or he knows what happened and hates his wife.Sometimes I really think he hates her, like with the watch ,I really thought she is crazy for provoking him like that .But hey you're crazy, his crazy you guys are perfect for each other, infact that whole family especially the twirling mum except Min woo is crazy.
At times I feel for MY and her crazy, when the husband you desperately love is in love with someone else that has got to be so painful to quote from the drama
"Love paralyses reason
Love paralyses the soul"

I felt NOTHING for the devil's hoobae and his one tear?,no seok hoon shi ,I don't feel sorry for your love, again you and crazy wife are perfect for each other with your one tears ?? But if you just happen to kill the loan shark ,I won't blame you,you want to kill him,I want you to kill him,I'm sure the viewers want you to kill him, just kill him.I'll consider it a freebie or as you say in Korea ,service .
Back to Min woo and Ji sook ,,the super cute argument in the car,the dragging by the coat to go to the hotel, the holding while crying, the back hug,the corny you are so stunning my eyes hurt ,the birthday song, the sweet moments in the room ?Writernim keep your kiss ,I'm content because ?Loving you, is easy because you're beautiful ,shalalalala, shalalalala ....????
Wednesday please come faster??
WARM AND COZY Poof be gone.
MY LOVE EUN DONG Wow,this drama just oozes with clichés and fate?. I dunno how many times I thought "like that would ever happen " stuff like that could never happen in real life, even in dramas stuff like that never happens ,well except this drama .I marathoned six episodes yesterday ,I don't hate it,I'm just very aware the whole time how unreal it is,too much fate going on. I like the leads, was surprised by the female lead expected her to suck.when I saw her husband in the wheel chair I thought ,well now,you get what you truly deserve ,you impregnating murderer (Angry mom) jail wasn't enough .
GAG CONCERT still hilarious especially The Nami & Bungbung and Wiggle Wiggle skit ,how these two men can face their families and...

HAPPY TOGETHER watched the episode with BIG BANG because even though before this week I had never listened to any of their songs G-dragon is pretty and I like to look at pretty things ? actually I find him cute,I always think if I had Korean babies I'd want them to look like Kang min hyuk (super cute in heartstrings )and G-dragon .
Anyway the episode was good but what caught my attention was the song at the intro ,the subs said sticky rice cake, which I thought had to be wrong ,I mean what kind of song has sticky rice cakes as lyrics so I went to YouTube to verify and thus began my Big Bang spiral, the lyrics funny enough are correct ,and no it wasn't the only song I found funny ,I kept laughing every time I heard the song bang bang bang lyrics ? bang bang bang banga banga banga ? on repeat for days ,I Still laugh when I think about it .I watched and listened to all their music from the MADE album, they are good and seriously catchy.Watched the old appearances on variety ,I laughed so hard when I heard G dragon cried after watching QUEEN SEON DEOK and went to practice with red eyes because it was so sad and how he never missed an episode of GOONG with Seungri ,they actually cheered when the leads finally held hands ,Haha.
What I really loved though were the drama paradoys ,??? every one should watch these especially SECRET GARDEN and COFFEE PRINCE paradoys ,hilarious .
Sadly , knowing my personality that gets addicted to things easily , dreaming of Taeyang , singing bang bang bang nonstop ,I decided to delete and quit big bang because the next thing you know I'll be listening to kpop and other secular music ,arguing whether EXO is better than BIG BANG .But seriously though what happened to music ,I miss the 80's and 90's when music was music.
That's it for this week,I bought My Husband Got a Family on Dvd,and thus my weekend plan.Have a great one beanies?and God bless ?

Big Band has a number of great songs, actually loving the simple, yet exquisite ballad "If You." It's so full of longing and sadness.

"If You" doesn't have a mv, but other Big Bang songs do, like their iconic "Lies" that first lead them to the top and "Haru Haru."

They have a range of songs from more slow, ballad type songs like LOSER, BLUE

to party/dance songs like WE LIKE 2 PARTY and FANTASTIC BABY,

to more r & b, hip hop songs. such as GOODBYE BABY
and BAD BOY.

And all the members have released solo efforts too.

SEUNGRI - 할말있어요 (GOTTA TALK TO U) -beautiful
TAEYANG - ONLY LOOK AT ME (나만 바라봐) - classic
T.O.P - DOOM DADA M/V - this is just crazy
G-DRAGON - 니가 뭔데 (WHO YOU?) - just cute and fun

As for Mask, I still remain uncertain whether the wife did kill
Eun Ha. It seems out of character really. I could understand a crime of passion, but premeditated?

And Wiggle Wiggle is like watching a car accident. It's just wrong, but hard to tear your eyes away from it.

I actually loved If You..even before knowing the meaning behind the song it just felt so sad and Yet beautiful followed by loser.
Your description of the Wiggle Wiggle skit is very fitting, it's so wrong and yet you can't look away.

ok just if anyone is wondering after last week: nothing very serious for my mom, but the hospital itself was one of nightmares. later I find out they usually only take people to die there so other hospitals would have a better statistics (???) I won´t go into the gory details, but ... even I am having nightmares. it would make a good horrow movie.

I am doing some research for some thematic tours, but information is scarce. but at least I can use my brain, not just stand on a position and smile

so I have little time for dramas, but I started watching The Time We Were Not In Love & the original taiwanese version for comparison. I kinda like the "mostly 2 people on their road to each other" premise. let´s hope secondary characters don´t waste oo much of our time.

The promo for Scholar is getting so huge, there is so much of it, I wonder if anyone has gotten a little tired of it already? Still getting a Disney feel from character stills. Teachers´ eyes on the poster, ouch! Speak volumes.

also, away to Viljandi for a couple of days to see how my parsnips and kale are doing, so I prob won´t answer this post later, sorry!

in other news did you hear a north korean official or something managed to flee to Finland, along with proof of human experiments for biochemical weapons? Scary.... it would be a good plot for a drama, I wonder if that escape will have any result or will it just be forgotten among other problems Europe is facing. In general a lot of important things that happen are forgotten way too easily, only caring about rainbows and celebrity weight loss and stuff like that. why cannot the majority of people concentrate on things that actually matter instead of tabloid rumors? why waste precious lifetime? and on things like the so-called "Jong-Hye" dating "scandal"

People are mostly shallow, I can feel your frustration, I felt the same way during the Bruce Jenner and Rachel dozelea news, yes it's news but the coverage was too much. More important things are happening in the world, give more attention to that.

I seldom pay much attention to Korean or American celeb gossip and "news", most of it is just so trivial and inane, and none of it will ever have any effect on me in the slightest.

But I have to admit that I do enjoy the occasional foot-in-mouth moments, such as some comedian guy coming out as being anti-vaccination, and getting blasted with thousands of tweets about how stupid he is.

Honestly as long as they aren't running around raping or murdering people I couldn't care less what celebrities do in their everyday lives. Frankly the fact that so many people do is a huge problem. That being said there is one that I found out about when researching Tablo to find out more about his work after I found that I liked Korean rap.

Tablo's Stanford scandal just sticks in my head because of the persistent willful stupidity involved.

Glad your mom is OK. Statistics and needing to live up to them has really messed up a lot of systems, it's a shame. Sorry your experience was so unpleasant.

There's no such thing as too many Scholar promos! I think it's just that they were a bit delayed so it's not spaced out as much as most shows.

I find a lot of Korean scandals odd. That's why in Producer I rolled my eyes when Cindy's career was going to be over because she lied about her parentage. Like, who cares? But then I realized how accurate that really could be. The public can really turn against someone for things that find to be small.

Oh, absolutely. I like the concept and the tone of the drama, but he is so obvious right from the start. And again, why is it that we see him admitting his feelings at that specific point in time? The explanation was never compelling enough for me...Otherwise, again, I really like the tone and no matter what, I like seeing female leads who behave, uh, like women of their age - at least at work (not sure if this is well-phrased, but hopefully you get what I mean). And again, I love the OST:)

But seriously though what happened to music ,I miss the 80’s and 90’s when music was music.
Amen to that. But I say the 70's too. I like me some guitar riffs and harmonies that are created with human voices, not a computer. I listen to Sirius radio in the car, and except for all the James Taylor (bleh), I love hearing all the America, AC/DC, CSNY, Simon & Garfunkel, and Elton John that they play on 70's on 7.

Happy July Beanies! I'm super excited because I have several visitors coming this month. I love having visitors even though it kind if exhausts me. I've still been slacking a bit on my current shows (even about 5-6 behind in Warm & Cozy), but on to some things I have watched:

Murphy Yep, still watching this. I'm only one episode behind. I keep dreading angst and a noble idiocy breakup but so far so good. I think the way the handled the absentee mom's return was ridiculously unrealistic and romanticized but oh well. I just watch this show for the cute anyway (they do it so well!). I'm hoping they really never have a breakup since I think it's one of the string points of the show that even when they're uncertain about things, they never really waver from the relationship.

Hidden Identity I really want to love this bit I can't. I enjoy several of the actors but this show is just ok.

I Remember You I'm enjoying this the most of any show I'm currently watching. I realize this may be jinxing myself but I hope not. The show is obviously hinting at some big things but I'm wondering if it's just red herrings....and if not then I wonder what the end game is since they're letting the audience in on things relatively quickly. I'm enjoying all the characters as well right now.

I love Murphy's Law. It's so nice because the couple addresses their problems like mature adults: they talk. Though, I will say because the couple is so direct it eliminates a lot the intended tension. Even the secondary characters, IMO, seem unnecessary because the OTP is so definitive in their love for each other.

This week's episode ends on a bit of a cliffhanger but it feels really small. If the writer continues the current trend then it'll be resolved by the end of the next episode. This leaves me wondering what the remaining episodes will be about because, though an enjoyable easy watch, there's very little plot.

Finally watched episode 15. Yeah the couple is sort of a double-edged sword. It's wonderful to have a couple that realizes early on that they like each other and so they fully commit to try and make it work....but the writers also made the plot too simple so there's really nothing to sustain it for 20 episodes. The secondary characters often just feel annoying because it's a bit too forced.

I'm just not sure why they didn't at least have a second focus in this show. I mean, awesome, leave the couple as working on things and staying together, but there are enough other characters or even work possibilities that could add layers and tension to this.

Orange Marmalade Well, I thought this would be the last Joseon episode so I'm a tad thrown. I think it's great for the pacing of the current story but I think the return to modern day is just going to be rushed again and ultimately unsatisfying. I still like our mini bromance and the current story is much better told than the earlier one.

Producer Yep, I was a week behind on this. I liked the ending although I do wish manager oppa had gotten just one moment of Cindy appreciating him. I don't think there were any surprises but it felt realistic and satisfying. I liked a lot of the acting but this show really didn't feel original to me. I like the original idea of the documentary a lot but I think they executed it poorly so in not surprised they changed it - but then it did basically just feel a bit like a generic rom com. It was really carried my the actor. Also, did any watch the bonus feature? Is it worth watching?

Time I've Loved You I only got through episode one. Is two better? I really love Ha Ji Won so I'm sure I'll end up going back to it. I'm not really sure why people are saying this show is realistic? I mean sure, there's no chaebol but... Ugh, the whole thing with the cheating nf made me angry. I still can't handle why she got all the blame and anger and he got basically nothing but a heel stomp. She *let* her man be stolen by a younger woman? Spare me. He's a cheating jerk who forgot how to use a condom. He's 100% to blame and neither girl should want him. Gross.

I am so excited for the upcoming shows!! I have unreasonably high hopes for both Scholar and Ghostess.

The last few minutes of Warm and Cozy made me laugh and cringe simultaneously at the cheesiness of the Xtreme Title Exposition. I feel like this is the lowest high-concept metaphor usage the Hong Sisters have yet attempted. Yoo Yeon Seok and Kang Sora deserve all the awards for keeping me watching through sixteen episodes. ALL THE AWARDS.

I need IU to be in a drama asap with Yoo Seung Ho (LMAO, my phone autocorrected it to Seung-chan as soon as I wrote 'Seu', not even kidding.) Just putting it out there in the universe.

Happy OT beanies.. ;-)

-CRIME SCENE S2: Sigh, we finally reach the end of this season. It's cute that after Dir Jangjin literally gave up on acting innocent in the prev eps, it turns out that he isn't even the criminal. Haha, he really succeed at maintaining his no-criminal-role-card streak till the end. Love, love the award show at the end of this eps. Wah, this season really give us a lot of interesting love lines and unforgettable characters. Hope all the casts will come back for S3.

-THE GENIUS S4: It's starting!! As expected, the game at the earlier eps always rely more on social skill and how to form alliances. Some players give us expected performance while the other show us the upgraded version. It's a nice surprise to see Dongmin and Jinho working together rather than leading their own alliance. And how cute is that to see Dongmin, Yoohyun, and Yonsung play together? Junseok turn out to be such a dark horse in this season, it would be great to see him form an opposing alliance to play against Sangmin's. Hyunmin need to adapt fast before Sangmin completely use him as a puppet. The other player still try to play it safe and blend in the background, but they really need to step up the game, and fast, before Sangmin orchestrating everything like what he did in S2. And Kyunghoon, sigh, can't someone just please eliminate him early? He is such a troll and game destroyer seriously...

-MASK: I still didn't see the latest eps, but I'm completely happy with this new development. Watching Jisook stand up against Sokhoon and literally make him freeze in shock is just so satisfying. It's great that our heroine get to protect her family, threaten our big and small baddie (ha, those gangsters' expression when they have to kneel and ask forgiveness is priceless), help other people with Eunha's money, and even help her husband to take the first step out of his family's grasp. Can't wait to see her band together with Minwoo to defeat that terrible family.

-MY BEAUTIFUL BRIDE: It start off nice though the tone is much more melo than what I expected. This writer really did a good job showing us the seemingly ordinary hero (well, sociably awkward and has rigid personality, that is, but also loving and caring) at the earlier eps, and then BAM!! Nothing is like what it seems to be. There is murder, kidnapping, and also one of the most terrible organizations known to people. And I just can't decide whether our hero is hiding something, or he is just plain twisted in some way..

I'm pleasantly surprised that MBB is soooo good. Will check your recap later to find out what you think about that drama..

@Manin: Yup, the Genius is great. It's a smart show. If you ever watch Liar Game, this is the variety-show version of that (well, of course it's less cruel and more fair).

Wow I'm not late ;)

My Love Eundong - I love the cinematography. It's just too beautiful. Happy ending please.

High Society - Watching this after MLED is a bit..... It just pales in comparison. Though the characters are still intriguing.

Crime Scene S2 - T.T. I. WANT. MORE. I hope S3 comes quick before I go crazy and stuff. I need it!!! Jihoon was the best guest for me(though Hyunmoo is the best subjectively!) I knew Jinho was gonna be 1st but I was hoping he'd be 2nd. Lol at the 2 joke. The awards show was awesome. And the cast was so cute(esp. towards Wonmyung aka Asst.). I love everyone.

Lalalala. I'm goin' crazy 'bout The Genius S4. Ahhhh! But I haven't finished S3 yet. And I might die waiting for the next ep so I'll just talk about the cast. Lol.

Yoo Junghyun - I was gonna root for Phoenix but. But. But. Ep 1 happened. I haven't watched it yet. But I spoiled myself.

Lee Junseok - Dark horse? I absolutely love underdogs but I can't find it in me to root for him.

Lim Yoonsun - I only liked her in S2E1. Loyalty over winning wooo!(I actually liked S2 for being so cruel. It reminded me of Liar Game).

Lim Yohwan - Awesome at 1v1 but those Garnet Matches might be the end for Boxer. Lol. But If he wins, I hope it'd be against Jinho. That was a joke, kay?

Hong Jinho - I absolutely adore him in CS. And I'm even watching 5 Days of Summer for him. But he's been in TG too much and I just want a new winner. I still adore him tho. Kong for silver!! Lol.

Jungmoon - She's smart.

Kyunghoon - I don't get why people hate him(I can't really hate someone unless they're on Yokoya's level). But not rooting for him.

Yoohyun - If he's awesome then I'll root for him.

Jang Dongmin - Isn't it obvious that I love everyone from CS? Haha I think this guy will go far but he's already won. I don't want him to win again.

Oh Hyunmin - Candidate for winning. Realistically. I haven't warmed up to him yet tho.

Lee Sangmin - I love this guy too. He's manipulative, a traitor, and sly. But he isn't despicable(IMO). Sorta rooting for him tho I want an unexpected winner. Wishing him well in DM's. Lol.

Kim Kyungran - Scary noona!! I don't think she has done anything remarkable despite coming 2nd(though her smile in S1E1 after Sunggyu betrays Minseo still makes me shiver). But who cares, I'll(silently) root for her! I, for one, want a female winner. I hope she shows her wits and fierceness. I don't think she's that smart but she's good with people. Not the best at 1v1 but I hope she doesn't just leech off the others(though I still think that's still a legit strategy).

T.T I feel so empty without Crime Scene. Any recommendations for potential drama-cracks?

About Kyunghoon, it's not like I have issue with betrayal (since one of my fav player is Sunggyu who is an icon of betrayal), but I expected him to do something when his betrayal bite him back. Not just sit, doing nothing while grumbling and whining like what he did in S4E1.

Drama crack? Hmm, do you like crime drama? My Beautiful Bride is surprisingly good. Or maybe romcom like Oh My Ghostess that will start this weekend?

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well today. ....... Experiencing unpleasant, hot and humid weather around here. A cool sea breeze can't get here fast enough! I'm desperately waiting for one.

To those of you in the U.S., have a great 4th of July tomorrow! Enjoy the holiday wherever you may be!

Watched this week:

Mask - Love it! ....... Only up to ep 6 and already it's all kinds of convoluted! ....... Seok-hoon, I can't stop watching your scenes!

Hwajeong - Still quite enjoying this also. ....... I'm still unsure, but I might just end up watching the whole thing.

Divorce Lawyer In Love - Ok, so last week I called one of the recent clients a disrespectful jerk for being a cheater. While this still stands, he is now joined by this week's violent abuser, the orthopedist who beats his wife. Just wow. ....... I continue to fine the second male lead quite amusing though.

King of Mask Singer - After hearing positive comments from everyone regarding this show, I decided to check this out. ....... Needless to say, I'm hooked!

That's it for now. ....... Take care everyone and have a great Friday!

Happy 4th! Hwajeong really is unexpectedly addictive. What episode are you up to? I've gotten through 22. With all the shows going in this summer I really thought this would be one that I'd fall way behind on but so far...it looks like I too may finish this one!

King of Mask: I'm not sure where people watch whole episodes but I mostly just youtubes the singers I know. It sort of defeats the purpose but I still love it. I think it's especially satisfying to hear idols because being in groups really limits what they normally get to do for their audience....but this really let's them showcase their voices and show that it's not just dancing and flashy outfits but instead that they do have some serious singing chips as well.

(I saw Sungjae's when it first aired and was surprised because I've always like his voice but never heard him like that - even in his group he's technically a sun vocalist not main so his parts aren't that big....and random side note, has anyway been watching Sungjae in We Got Married?!)

I think I'm up to episode 12 or 14 of Hwajeong. I hope the rest of the episodes continue to be as interesting as they've been up to now.

I just started King of Mask like 2 or 3 weeks ago, and I watch it on regular tv which broadcasts shows about a month after they've started in South Korea, so I just jumped right in but I'm totally behind where everyone else is at. But that's ok. ..... And you're right, it is a good opportunity for many singers to showcase what they can really do. From what I've seen, many people are certainly surprised by what they hear.

Yeah, the surprised reactions after the reveals are the best! Especially when it's someone they've known fairly well but still couldn't recognize. I like hearing new voices but it's always extra special when it's someone I know and that I didn't realize was so good.

I'm watching We Got Married. I'm not a regular viewer of the show but watching it to see Sung Jae. He seems like a sweet guy; and funny. Joy is straightforward and cute, which I like. (Though at times I feel like she doesn't really match with his personality. Haha. Idk how to explain it.) Hoping to see more cute moments from them :)

I've only ever watched half an episode before so I'm not used to it. In general the idea seems really odd to me - celebrities playing themselves, but not themselves, in a relationship when IRL they would have hoards of angry fans for dating. It all baffles me.

Anyway I've just seen this couple because someone compiled just their scenes. They're really adorable right now. I don't know how I'll feel when things get more 'serious' but they're so young that I think this work in an adorable first date/crush type of way. (Although I realize that 'so young' isn't really that young). I also like that Joy is so straight forward....they may not match up perfectly but I actually find that couples don't need to 'match' to be really good together.

Ack! So many Korean dramas, I feel hopelessly behind.

I met a Korean woman this week, and I tried to prove I had some knowledge of the Korean language, but somehow could barely speak. And she spoke SOOO fast, I couldn't catch a thing she said, even when she said things I know. I had to keep telling her to slow down.

In any event, I told her that I became interested in Korea after discovering Korean dramas. Ah! She was sure that I could absorb the Korean language just from watching Korean dramas. Wish that was true. Why do I struggle so with Korean?

In any event, after about a month of not studying my Korean flashcards, I feel energized to watch a ton of Korean drama and work on my Korean language so I can speak better with her the next time I see her.

She nodded sagely when I said I had seen the Korean historical dramas. "Omo, so deep! You know about such things? Korean historical dramas very good teaching." I glowed at the praise.

Julia -

Don't worry about being behind on dramas. I always am, because I totally watch on a different schedule. The great thing is, they are available for viewing when your schedule permits. Yay!

It's great to hear how you're getting out there and making the effort to speak with folks in Korean. While it may be at a very basic level, or even three or four words, it's a sincere attempt on your part. I'm sure this does not go unnoticed by the nice people you encounter. Wishing you luck as you continue your language studies! Fighting!

Julia,

You are not alone in your feat to learning Korean. I'm in the same situation. I got tired of taking two hours to watch a drama because I kept getting distracted by the beautiful faces on the screen (i.e. Lee Min Ho, Cha Seung Won, Ji Chang Wook, Siwon) that I would miss reading the subtitles - ugh!

I found just a little bit of Korean language learning made reading the subtitles so much easier. If you understand yes, no, thank you, sit down, let's go, hello, have you eaten, what may I get you, omo, and so forth, then you can glance at the subtitles less, and gaze at the faces more.

So I just finish "In time with you" (Taiwanese) drama. And I nothing to say but it is really awesome that gave me another favorite drama :) Well I'm a sucker to that genre though haha :) Chen Bolin is my new bae I just watch his movie Buddha Mountai for him <3 Him and Ariel have a great a chemistry and not only a chemistry, they're both great in acting too :) Love all the characters (except Maggie the annoying girl lol). And what I really love is I can connect to the characters and it si more realistic :) I hope the korean remake give justice to original :)

I just want to ask if theres another drama or movie that has "Bestfriend" love story? (I already watch the Operation Operation that made me love Yoo Seung Ho until now)
Thanks :) and have a good day guys :)

Finally back to dramaland!

I'm still watching dramas but Ao think I've two to three for this season hihihi

The Producers - can't bring myself to watch the last two eps, not because it's ending but half way through it I got annoyed with Gong Hyo Jin's character and everyone else hihi maybe not my cup of tea.

Mask - I've been following it and damn it's good makjang! It's fast and not too draggy for my taste. The latest two episodes are one of the best! The CAKE was an awesome touched! I definitely LOLed at it!

I Remember You - love the chemistry between our leads and I can't wait for them to have a duet soon.

Oh My Ghostess! - I know it's not yet out but aren't we all excited for PBY's drama?!?!?

OH my gosh!~!~~!~~~ The best drama crack EVER!!!!! The first ten minutes almost turned me off.. but if you can make it past all that grim and grittiness, you will be richly rewarded with the best Badass ever. And it's soooooooo romantic. Please, cramabeans editor, please recap it.

Hi, Carol:

your comment on My Beautiful Bride changed my heart. I watched the first eps for about 10- 15 min and I just hated it. I hated it because I have been watching K drama on human and organ trafficking so much,,, it makes me nauseated. But since you love it so much, I figure that it got to have some elements for you to be hooked with this drama. I re started watching the drama last night and could not stop!
I like the way the story unfolds yet at the end of eps 4, there are still some mysteries,,,, I am also hooked.

Thanks millions for your recommendation.

I actually don't want Hyun-ah (Hyun-soo's sister) to get involved with Jae-ho. This guy is obsessive and destructive. Hyun-ah deserves better.

My BEAUTIFUL BRIDE : OMG!! THIS DRAMA IS DAEBAK!!! It's giving me life. I watched all 4 episode and it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Kim Moo-Yul (aka Mr. Panda) is my new kdrama man crush I am simply in love with his character Do-Hyeong!! So far everything is superb from the writing, acting, soundtrack and directing.

MY LOVE EUN DONG: The two leads chemistry is explosive. I can't wait for this week's episodes.

TIME I'VE LOVED YOU: I watched the first two episode and I must say it did catch my attention. I must say I LOVE Ha Ji Won fashion style in this show, I may simply stick around just to watch her wardrobe in the show lool.

Liking My Love, Eun Dong much more than I figured I would, but it kind of bothers me just how incurious she is to find out what actually happened and how she ended up in that situation.

She went far enough to confirm that she was in fact a different woman, but so far she seems pretty passive about how she got there or why.

Time I've Loved You - watching, but not sucking me in much. Kind of looking like a 20 year history of being oblivious to what is right in front of you.

-Not seeing any chemistry between Kim Soo Hyun&Gong Hye Jin or KSH&IU, because Producers' romantic story.

I think that's all matter of taste. Ye-jin was a character that was hard to please - Gong Hyo-jin already said so in the press conference, but later on she appeared to be very lovely and kindhearted. I actually liked it that it was Gong Hyo-jin who portrayed the character. She was so natural and she did it in such a convincing way, and the transition was so smooth I didn't even notice the change but gradually came to like Ye-jin.

The same goes for the chemistry. I personally really like the dynamic and chemistry in this drama. I did feel Ye-jin and Seung-chan has chemistry, it simply wasn't in a romantic way. And Cindy and Seung-chan, it was so beautiful and heart-fluttering I was surprised. It's just that the production chose to drag the lovelines too long while they could have developed other aspects, it got me frustrated and annoyed. Overall it wasn't bad though. I did enjoy it, and still think of it dearly.

That being said, I understand why people would view it negatively. It's simply not everyone's cup of tea. :)

Currently, I'm watching I remember you, which I'm enjoying. Particularly loving Jang Na-ra's character.

As for soon to air dramas, I'm hoping to start: Oh My Ghostess, Late Night Restaurant (I loved the Japanese version - Shinya Shokudo), and Scholar Who Walks the Night (my love for Lee Jun Ki knows no bounds).

I try not to hold out too much hope though. I find that the less expectations I have, the less disappointed I end up. I prefer to be pleasantly surprised if they do turn out great.

I'm currently finishing up Kill Me, Heal Me. I have three episodes left to go. I find myself loving the long flashbacks.

DRAMA WATCH: I seem to be watching or trying to watch quite a big number (for me) of shows concurrently, but I don't think I'm going to be able to continue with every single one. Time is always the issue!! *sigh*

Hello Monster/I Remember You - This is the show I consider the best among the ones I'm watching now in terms of being well executed, smart, well-balanced between the serious and the funny and with main characters who are intriguing and rounded. I even like the camera work and music, and the many actors brought into the show with the question mark hanging over each of them... could he be Min or the psychopathic Joon Young. There is this interesting theme of identity throughout: who are they really... the warm and friendly, the bumbling fools, the hostile villains, police or criminal or civilian... all are more than the labels they are given, all are products both of nature and of nurture and some are not what they appear to be.

Mask - Despite some flaws in execution, this show remains compelling, although to not quite the same extent as when it first started. Our villain, who draws sighs and swoons, who was sharp, in control and evil-ly manipulative seems to be turning into a bit of a pussy. Ep 11 had him doing nothing more than mew at the women folk who are basically ignoring what he wants them to do. On the plus side, the women are now stronger, with our heroine becoming pretty badass herself in pursuit of protecting her family. The best part - she includes her psychologically victimised husband as her family and protects him fiercely, and their reluctant pairing has become a one-sided love and is likely to turn into a proper OTP-OTP (if you know what I mean). And Ep 12 is even better!!! Loved it.

The Time I Loved You/The Time When We Were Not In Love - A nice, breezy, easy-to-watch summer romance with a predictable story line and pleasant leads. It's my 3rd favorite for the lack of hardwork required to know what's going on.

My Love Eun Dong - I'm still iffy about this one but the overall feel I get is mostly positive, although I'm always wary of the angst that's about to happen or is happening at about this time in the story. I'm not really into illicit love affair stories, but I'm tempted to see how this plays out since now the main secret has been outed. There's more that needs to be revealed to the leads, although we viewers are already mostly in the know or guessing it correctly, I feel.

High Society - Events and revelations have led our lead characters to make a turn in their decisions, and so with new motivations and new knowledge, I wait to see what Yoon Ha and Joon Ki will make of the new direction their lives may take.

Masked Prosecutor - No time to continue this properly, but it's really an OK show, just not as compelling as Mask. I will finish this show slowly and savor it well.

Dropped Orange Marmalade- The...

My Love, Eun Dong: I don't consider this anything close to an illicit affair. If anything is illicit, it is her husband, family, and his mother that have been illicit.

From what I gather so far, he went into total road rage and caused the accident that ended up with him crippled and her amnesia. Somehow they all conspired to convince her that she was someone else, and was married to him and pregnant by him. Technically and legally they are probably not even married, since the whole thing is a total fraud.

But, as I noted in another post, I don't understand why Eun-Dong is not digging a little deeper to find out how all this came about, and why the name change. It is like once she confirmed that she is in fact ED, she just stopped looking any more.

I agree with you. The drama is not about an illicit affair. the woman lost her memory and people surrounding her made up a story to force her to marry another man and everyone around her were in cahoot with the scheme. Is it a criminal intent? Yes, from a point of strangers, their love can be viewed an illicit affair but it is not.

It's not exactly as sinister as we'd like to believe. The re-emerging of my beloved Joo Jin-Mo came abruptly ten years ago, when Eun-Dong had a new life with her adoptive parents and a boyfriend. The whole encounter lasted one month, two? In a decade of a different life this is just a small interlude. Probably or better yet hopefully, Eun-Dong was pregnant by her one true love whom no one in her everyday life knew, and the father and husband may have chosen to continue her life uninterrupted. Why haven't they told her she loved someone else? Probably because it was convenient, but mostly, and I believe that's the concept of the drama, they underestimated the "fatefulness" of this relationship.

I think there is a lot more to it. From what I gather, her mother/stepfather have been paid off in some way.

I doubt the husband is wealthy, I think you mean the coach's position. Little people are sold off for small prices. We saw that the mother is a bit greedy consenting the "illicit" relationship provided the lover is rich. That doesn't make them bad, just poor.

When you see episode 11, it starts coming into focus.

##### Spoilers Ahead #####

It turns out that the hubby is somewhat of a nutcase that easily goes into rages... And that he tried to kill them both on purpose (yup, she got her memories back, or most of them).

@ windsun33

Oooh great!! ? I don't mind spoilers. Especially in a show that I pretty much thought was going to be ? obvious.

So it's definite then? that there was practically criminal intent ? and a cover up... can I go so far as to say, complicity on the family's part? ? For money? I gotta find time to watch the latest episode. ?

0

@ atz and korini

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was calling it 'illicit' on a technical detail (and as a shortcut to referring to the main crux of the melo) ie regardless of how unfairly it happened, she is technically married, etc etc. But I know that how it got to this stage was engineered by others who do not seem to have the purest of motives. Trouble is, that just on that technical detail, the lousy husband can get people on his side... and because of his disability, he gets his doc on his team against her own brother. I so hate that. I guess the sister is pretty torn but she has to choose her loyalties, not knowing the history of her patient. Once she knows more, she will probably change her mind and support Eun Ho as she has done all along.

Hello Beanies,
What a beautiful morning. It is hot, hot, hot here, but last night we had a spectacular lightning and thunderstorm with RAIN. Supposed to happen all weekend, so I guess that will be our July 4th fireworks.

I'm watching WAY to many dramas right now. I can't keep the plots straight.

Warm and Cozy--So glad this one is over. I watched the last two episodes raw and then didn't bother to watch with subs. I am totally disillusioned with the Hong sister's reputation. It wasn't as bad as Dr. Stranger (which ended up being rather funny, if you think about it), but almost. I really want better dramas for Kang So Ra. She is so beautiful and her facial expressions really draw me in.

Mask--I like where it's going now, but am dreading the reveal and all the angst it will cause. Please writers, give me at least one more episode of lovey-dovey before the reveal. I want to see them sleep in the same bed as husband and wife. But tastefully done.

High Society--Really, who cares what the motivation was for meeting someone as long as the feelings that develop are real?

I Remember You--The OTP kinda creeps me out. The age difference in the actors, I mean. I just can't get past it. The story would be good without any romance, so I hope it proceeds with just that, although I'm doubtful that will happen.

A Word from a Warm Heart--Watching this because I read good things about it in the open thread. It is very well written, acted, directed, etc, but the subject matter (infidelity) is difficult. Still, it draws me in to see how these characters will heal/not heal from their situations. Oh, and can I say that the men in this drama are SO GOOD LOOKING. I love seeing some mature men for a change. Yes, I admire many of our leading men, but they are young enough to be my sons, so I can't go anywhere but mothering them in my fantasies.

I agree with you on Warm & Cozy and Mask. High Society, is just annoying me. And in I Remember You the age difference between the actor is only 6 years, not that big. If that bothers you, then most dramas could considering, the age difference can be up to ten years apart.

P.S. How do you make the words bold?

Seo In Guk and Jang Na Ra are only 7 years apart. It's not a huge difference for me.

yeah, Kang Sora really deserves better from her prime time dramas. Dream High, Dr Stranger and now this.....well, at least she's not going to be relegated to second lead status anymore. The only reason W&C's ratings are not in the 3 percent range is because of her and YYS doing their damnedest despite the script giving them so little to work with (and succeeding!)

High Society–Really, who cares what the motivation was for meeting someone as long as the feelings that develop are real?

That's the thing, we're not really shown that they are real. Someone in the recap nailed it when they said the OTP of High Society were presented and written in a fashion that was all 'tell, not show' when normally it should be the reverse.

Okay, this is how I would like MASK to go ... but I know it won't because this is Kdrama land where drama ... not logic ... rules supreme ...

JS approaches MW and says ..."This is who I really am ... this is how I got here ... here are the forces laid out against you ... I'm here to help you, because in spit of everything, I love you and I can't help you and save my mother while pretending to be someone I'm not."

And then MW says "Awe baby, I love you ... I have seen all that you've done for me, and I understand that you started what you did, not to deceive me, but to save your family and what we're building here is totally awesome and I want to have babies with you ... so let's save our families and kick some ass together!"

yeah ... that's not how it's going to go down ... but I think it would be awesome if it did.

안녕하세요, Beanies!

I continued my Roadtrip this week.

Sooo much to say. I know I should do my blabbing over on my blog, where I can show pictures. How can I keep this short?

Providence Zen Center is amazing. I really felt like I had visited Korea, with the pagoda, monastery, 6 foot high temple bell, practitioners in grey monk robes, all on a beautiful wooded landscape in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Highly recommend a visit!

Also visited the New England Peace Pagoda (Leverett, MA) at 5 am for chanting. They handed me a paddle-like drum and I drummed along with their 6 foot high drum that was so loud it reverberated through me.

I discovered the Yushien garden on Amherst College. A Japanese contemplative garden, just the right size for one or two people to sit on the bench and think about life.

Meandering the back roads of Central Massachusetts on the old post road, I took pictures and hiked and ate at a 1700's inn. Rolling farmland, Quabbin Reservoir, Rock Hill Reservation, Antique shops, a real exploring of the unknown.

Sorry ... so much more happened this week ... but I promise to put together a blog post to share.

THIS WEEK's HANJA for Cimi: 門 gate, door 문

I learned that when Buddhist take their vows, they adopt a Chinese name. So the Korean woman I met introduced herself as Maha Heang and pointed to Chinese characters on a wall calligraphy. It is not her given Korean name, but the sound of Chinese with some spiritual meaning. The Westerners at the Providence Zen Center also had these Chinese names ... before long, my head was spinning. I still can't hold Korean names in my head, let alone Chinese names.

You're making me miss New England. Next time you're in the area, Smith has a Japanese Tea Garden too. And a prettier campus than Amherst (IMO). There is also a Korean language major at Smith, so I am sure there are lots of resources such as books, videos, and newspapers in the library. I noticed there is a film and lecture on Sept 15, 2015:

http://www.smith.edu/eas/index.php

There is also a Korean language 5 College class. So that means you could matriculate at UMass and then take the class (cheaper).

*Mask* LOVE IT!! I'm not usually a fan of this genre, and I honestly wasn't very into watching it in the beginning, but by Ep 4, I was hooked! I'm glad we get to see a stronger JiSook that we saw more of in the beginning. I'm glad she and MinWoo are finally starting to team up and stand up for each other.

*I Remember You* This is one drama I found that gives me the same feeling of satisfaction and longing I hd when watching Kill Me Heal Me. It's an intriguing concept that I've never come across before, and the drama's showing/using it well. The leads have great chemistry as partners, and I'm sure when the romance starts, we'll find even more chemistry. I love the mystery of it all, and that we're pretty much on the same page as the lead. It's also pretty logical in a sense, so I'm happy about it.

*Warm & Cozy* I'm so glad it's over. Honestly, Dramabeans was right about the drama being better when GeunWoo thought JungJoo was dying. It made even his infuriating actions, bearable cuz he made up for it. But once that terminal illness flew out the window, we have the most jerkity-jerk face in the whole world. The drama really wasted my time with its second half, which I only kept watching because of the actors. Ugh. Thank god you're done.

*High Society* Ugh. I'm conflicted on whether I should just drop it or keep watching. I was fine with it until Ep 4, but now I'm just annoyed with it. Honestly, even the second leads are making me lose my interest. I think I'll just stick to reading the recaps...Ugh.

*The Time I Loved You, 7000 Days* Well, this is a drama that hasn't really piked my interest, but I'm enjoying. It's like a light summer breeze, something that feels good, but you won't really remmedber later. I haven't watched the Taiwanese version, and I'd like to keep looking at this one with an open mind.

Mask- Episode 11 made me reaffirm my love for this series, go Ji-sook go. There were lot's of good parts, my favorite Min-woo knows he's not crazy.

Hidden Identity- I like it, despite wanting to I don't love it.

My Beautiful Bride- Now this, this I love. Although I did think it was stupid of the cops to think the shadows would be gone just because their leader was arrested, and I hope I'm wrong but I feel all the secrets are out of the bag in the first 4 episodes.

I'm thinking of changing my name to I am not female.

Usually I'm a series completist, but there's just too much going on IRL and dramaland, so I'm dropping Hidden Identity and High Society. I picked up My Beautiful Bride, and the first eppy was really more layered and beautifully produced than I expected. Too bad Hidden Identity started off with a Big Bad I just couldn't buy and that hologram story. I really wanted to love it.

Unkind Women: I'm stuck at ep 19 and can't muster the will to just finish it. I like the cast so much, but the long lost dad story just wore me out.

I Remember You: love it, although there were too many nods to Sherlock at first. How does Seo In Guk keep landing these projects that fit him to a tee? I would love to see Hyun Bin in something stylish and dark like this for his next TV project.

Hi everyone!

This is my first time posting in the Open Thread. Glad I can join you guys!

What I wanted to talk about was my dropping interest in dramas. I always start one after building up excitement and then it just fizzles away. I guess I just have trouble finishing them. This happened with Warm & Cozy, Fated to Love You, Heard it Through the Grapevine, and some others. I haven't found a crack-addicting drama since Master's Sun. Anyone else find themselves with this issue?

On the bright side, I started The Time I Loved You, and it's looking good! I haven't seen the Taiwan version so I won't be comparing but enjoying the show on its own merit. Also, I'm interested to see how Oh My Ghostess will turn out!

That can happen; truly addictive dramas are quite a rarity. On the other hand, out of that list, Warm and Cozy is what everyone says it is, and Fated To Love You went spectacularly downhill on the second half. I am finding it very difficult to finish Grapevine because of mood and pace; good quality, but not great for late-night watching.

I guess the last show that had me hooked was Healer, although I enjoyed most of Producer too, and was looking forward to it every week. But yes, crossing my fingers for the new batch...

It's almost impossible to find a drama that is addictive from start to finish. Usually, you either have to muddle through the first few boring episodes to get to the good stuff or a drama starts off great but deflates about 2/3 into it before picking back up again just in time for the finale. I find that a lot of good rom-coms have a problem with the latter.

0

Required fields are marked *

I don't finish 80% of dramas I start. I'm the same way with non-asian TV shows too so it's just a bad habit. I literally have about 1-2 crack dramas per year, sometimes I have none and I think that is normal IMO. Even with non-korean dramas, crack ones are fairly rare for me.

There are so many dramas out there and I've stopped only paying attention to the ones that international audiences focus on.

In the past I probably finished the majority of the dramas that I started. Though now maybe because of time constraints and real life or the drama itself, I've dropped quite a few recently: Birth of a Beauty, Mr. Back, Blood, Super Daddy Yul, My Unfortunate Boyfriend, Orange Marmalade, Masked Prosecutor, and High Society.

Welcome to OT!

About losing interest in dramas, ... especially after a crack drama... It sounds to me like the crack drama (KMHM for you and Healer for me) has ruined you for other shows. Nothing else really stands out much by comparison and we become more picky, looking for the same height of passion and depth of feels that we had when our crack show was airing. Does that sound like what you're experiencing?

Since it is hard to find an equivalent show, it is easier to drop shows now or to do so with less regret. I feel that I now no longer wish to spend time on something that I am just ploughing through in order to complete it, when I could spend it on a better show that I'd enjoy without too much effort. :)

But . . . after a couple days of letting the whole thing marinate in my mind I decided I wanted to see Kang To have some happiness, so I watched the last episode without the wedding scene, then went back and tacked the proposal on as the second to the last scene so I can pretend they end up together, living in a tent and raising freedom-fighting babies. I am cheesy like that but at least my heart can heal now.

I Remember You- I'm attempting to speculate about the mysteries of the show. I have my theories, but I hope the payoff will be good. It's a mystery, Sherlock type of story, and I'm always a sucker for those. I'm interested to see how the writer's will write the romance.

Non airing shows:
Monstar- Watching this after School 2015 was a terrible idea. For a while, I think I'll stay away from shows that have ambiguous teenage love lines or jerk around love triangles. What's funny about Monstar is that Sungjae plays a cameo as Arnold a member of an idol group. Somehow that worsened the effects of my School 2015 PSTD.

Healer- I finished this. It's a decent show and one of those rare Kdramas that didn't feel like it had a huge lull in the middle.

MASK - Writer-nim knocked it out of the he park this week. There is nothing more satisfying than watching the weak turn the tables on the strong. Once Ji Sook had access to Eun Ha's made money, she did not pull her punches, and satisfying used it to help the weak ones like her and bring them to her side in the process. I loved at the party where she made it clear she was the one now in control.

Kudos to this drama for its amazing show this week!

POSSIBLE SPOILER

Mask is the only drama that I've been keeping close tabs on. I really like how the drama manages to inject a little bit of comedy amidst all the serious stuff. Min Woo and his assistant, the whole cake gag, the loan shark getting arrested for stealing panties. Even evil Seok Hoon had his funny moments. That lost expression on his face when his wife and mother-in-law were shopping was just too funny!

I started watching The Time We Were Not In Love and I am still on the fence on this. First, Ha Ji Won's face looks really weird, it just looks different from before and it kinda bothers me a bit while watching. Second, the 2nd male lead just doesn't have chemistry with her. I cringe every time they're in a flirty scene together. But I will probably still watch this because 1st male lead is wonderful, good chemistry with Ha Ji Won, plus Ha Ji Won's family looks fun, like Reply 1997 family fun potential! I hope there will be more scenes involving them.

So someone suggested I watch We Broke Up and I hesitated a bit because, hello? Sandara Park?! ?! She isn't exactly famous for her acting prowess. But still, I gave it a chance just because every ep is only 15 minutes and it is a very light rom-com plus readily available on Youtube. And well, I was mightily surprised! I didn't even notice I was laughing my ass off and squeeing (a wee bit more than I care to admit!!). I won't be spoiling it off for anybody, you'll just have to watch it for yourself!

Happy 4th of July weekend!

I Remember You - I'm liking a lot. Nothing to complain about so far :)

Mask - I dropped it and then picked it back up again.

High Society - Not watching anymore. Sticking to recaps.

Oh My Ghostess - Going to watch the first episode. Very excited!

Scholar Who Walks the Night - I can't wait!! Wednesday should already be here.

I have been wanting to start Missing Noir M, Hidden Identity, My Little Bride for sometime. Still haven't gotten a chance :(

@lemondoodle - When we were talking about School 2015, you had said that TK needs someone who doesn't leave him in the rain without an umbrella. I thought you were talking metaphorically. Then I came across the deleted umbrella scene and understood what you were talking about. I totally agree. He deserves much better. That scene was so cruel. If the writers had added it to the drama, there wouldn't have been any doubt who EBi was gonna end up with. I think I would have disliked EBi too if I had seen that scene during the drama. That was cruel of her :( There should be a School 2015 with TK and another girl who loves him back. Haha. One can only wish :(

Warm & Cozy - wasn't...total mash up.
My Love Eun Dong - This is crazy obsession...everyone's sabotaging. The heroine's memory and her family conspiracy will drive anyone nuts.
I Remember You - Tries to keep you guessing but it's quite obvious there are 2 brothers..Guess who's the monster?
Time I've Loved You - Very boring, but I love Ha Ji Won. Don't know it I'll continue. Maybe Taiwanese version is better?
Producer - Couldn't sit through the episodes.
My Beautiful Bride - Loved it. Didn't expect much but turns you around. Totally hooked by the way the story is unraveling bit by bit.
High Society - Hate the shrewish mom. Can't stand watching her in the scenes.

High Society - I cannot figure the mom out. She seems to hate her daughter for no good reason other than some stupid fortune teller, while doting on her (lost) son who apparently can hardly stand her.

It actually annoys me a lot when they bring this superstitious nonsense into shows unless it is just some humorous side plot. But I guess there actually is a small percent of people that believe in things like totems and fortune tellers, just like there are crystal gazers in the US.

Hey! About High Society, is it good? I really like Sung Joon, but with him I only watched White Christmas and SUFBB. Tried watching INR3, but I didn't like it and since this drama I don't watch anything with him. I guess his projects have too much of romance to me, I guess.

I heard Park Hyungsik is lovely on this and his female co-star is also awesome.

High Society.....is watchable, but by no stretch of the imagination can it be called good. imo it's basically a Nice Guy ripoff with sloppier writing and far less sympathetic leads. And to my surprise, Sung Joon's acting just isn't doing so well here (I've loved him since SUFBB days but this drama just gives him very little to work with. Same with Uee)

But you did hear right about one thing - Park Hyung-shik is in fact doing a great job in his role, and his chemistry with Im Ji-yeon is possibly the best thing about it.

You know I saw a selfie of Park Hyung Shik and IJY right after the show started and my first thought was that they might be dating. I'm not surprised they have tons of chemistry and I have a feeling they are somewhat into each other in real life.

Oddly, the main thing that convinced me to watch the drama was Sung Joon and UEE's sizzling chemistry in the promos! What happened to all that?

0

Deb - Park Hyung-shik is very convincing opposite romantic leads, this is only his second time actually having a leading lady but he was like that with Nam Ji-hyun in What's With This Family too. They were beyond adorable together and even scored a super cute couple CF out of it all.

0

I've been watching WWTF on and off for awhile and his chemistry with the female lead there is not close to what he has with IJY in this. There, you could tell they are comfortable with each other IRL and work together well to show chemistry onscreen.

With him and IJY, it seems like the type of chemistry where it sort of feels very real, as in a mix of acting and genuine attraction/chemistry when the cameras stop rolling. Like they can't help themselves. I only notice it once in awhile between actors.

Whether or not they date or ahem..whatever else in real life, they look really good together and seem to get along very well.

LOL!!!

It doesn't even reach that level for me. Only reading the recaps – bailed on the watching after a couple of episodes.

So far I'm hooked with The Time I've Loved You. I know it’s too early to say, but man, that Lee Jin Wook was enough to keep me hooked.

I’m also looking forward to Oh My Ghostess and in between I’m continuing to watch Misaeng.

Hi everyone!

I'm currently watching Valid Love. Actually, I stopped at episode 8 some days ago and I think it will take some time for me to finish. When I was still on episode 6 I saw some comments about how it was hard to watch it fast and now I agree with these comments. It's really dense, I don't know if it is because of the typical tvN touch, in which things really look like reality (like Misaeng), probably that's the reason. The filming and everything, tvN always make its dramas sort of real more than others, sorry if I'm not being clear in what I'm trying to say.

I was planning to wait until I finish Valid Love to watch another drama, but since I have one month of vacation (just started, yay!) and I don't know how long it will take for me to finish it, I will follow several recommendations and watch Angry Mom! It seems really good and everyone was talking about it when it aired a few months ago. Hope I will like it!

So Warm and Cozy is finally over, and it's a relief. The only unqualified good thing I have to say about it is that it gave us a really amazing final kiss (actually, a full-on makeout session) between Yoo Yeon-seok and Kang Sora.

now please, drama gods, let Scholar Who Walks The Night not suck. PLEASE.

Hello chingus~

The Time I've Loved You - Kyaa~ [insert gushing over the nostalgia and warm fuzzies] I haven't seen the Taiwanese drama but there's only one thing I can say: I'm so onboard Oh Hana and Choi Won as Bimoks, the one-eyed fish who live their lives attached to the one it loves.

Hidden Identity - Frankly started this because of Kim Bum (missing him + gritty since I recently rewatched East of Eden out of boredom) but ended up being heads in heels over Jumuchi Team Leader Jang. Excuse you show, you're not fooling me into buying the actual badass hero of this show as really shady. Also, you're strike two in making Yoon Soyi's character the damsel in distress through all that kidnapping. Kindly not waste her, please and thank you.

Warm and Cozy - Kang Sora's super prettyyy self sustained me through the frustration over the obtuse plot, cried over awesome lady diver Haeshil finally being happy (props to Black Pearl ahjussi for the effort and love poured on that last gift) and whew, ~I'm free~

Mask - I like this show a lot. Yay to Jisook deftly playing the game and winning the lesser fights. Please continue surprising everyone by kicking ass. She's owning her every advantage as Seo Eunha and is still her caring self (ha, in your face, haters). Bonus excessive amounts of fluff from her interactions from cutiepie Minwoo is welcome, ofc.

I already have a copy of the E01 raw and couldn't be more excited for Oh My Ghostess: feisty Kim Seulgi, prickly handsome chef Jo Jungseok and ever darling Park Boyoung and all *squeals*

Anyone know why I Remember You is apparently getting such bad ratings?

well, its predecessor drama (School 2015) didn't have very strong ratings either, and its competing dramas belong to viewer-magnet genres like makjang (High Society) and sageuk (Hwajung).

It's only got as far as episode 4 anyway, hopefully the ratings will pick up as they go on.

Oh was School 2015 as low as this? I must have missed that. And yeah, I guess it does have some stiff competition but...I don't know. I'm enjoying Hwajung as well so I can't complain if people are watching that. (Though really everyone should just fill up their plates with kdramas and watchthem all - what? unreasonable?)

School 2015 started off with 3.5 percent and picked up to 8.2 by the end - a very respectable showing. IRY seems to be following a similar pattern, let's see what the weeks ahead bring.

I haven't watched it but I doubt it deserves it. Rarely dramas are bad this early on. Every goes badly rating-wise even weekend family dramas. I mean Bluebird that leads on weekends has perhaps the worst ratings of any other KBS family drama. Even Producers had a very mediocre average and picked up only in the last episode. A bit. In realistic terms, nothing sensational.
I stopped caring a long time ago. I suggest you, too, watch whatever drama you like without paying attention.

Oh I definitely watch whatever I want (which is usually *too* much), it's just that I was surprised it was so low since I'm really enjoying it...and it feels like a lot of other people are too. Obviously we're not the target viewers but it was surprising to me. I will continue to watch for sure.

The ratings are disappointing indeed, IRY deserves better, but what can you do, for some reason it is not clicking with the audience. I´m liking it a lot so far, though I have to admit I had trouble getting through ep 1.

Hi beanies! I have been a long-time fan of this site, but this is the only time I'll be posting here. Hehe. I have been watching dramas since 2002 (I was young at 2nd grade), and my first drama was Lovers in Paris (I still cannot forgive the writer for the ending), but it hasn't been long since I actually start to regularly watch currently airing ones since I mostly wait for the entire run to finish before I watch a series. Then Pinocchio happened and here I am currently watching:

Mask I watched the first two episodes, and then waited for some reviews before deciding to continue. There's a lot of makjang elements, and I am not used to watching them so it's not the kind of series that makes me feel comfortable while watching it. But since there are rave reviews, I'm continuing now. It's intriguing enough that I am liking it so far.

High Society I can't figure out what is it about this show that I look forward to it so much every week. I came into the show expecting to be sucked in by Sung Jooon and UEE, but they pale in comparison with Hyung-sik and Ji-yeon. I hope the latter half picks up because I am not sure yet how I place what's happening right now. I just can't get enough of Chang-soo and Ji-yi. Heh.

The Time I've Loved You I started this one mostly because I love the director, I didn't expect to like it this much. It's simple, yes, and the plot's predictable (but most romance dramas are predictable right?), but coming from my experience of the Taiwanese version, it was more about the people in it. What they went through to get to that point in time. It's as mundane as it can get, and the conversations are as realistic as it can be. What's not to like?

I Remember You Was confused when I saw the first episode but woah, second episode hooked me in. It's super interesting with really intriguing leads. I luuurve the vibe of the drama. It has that atmosphere that makes you feel assured about the coming episodes. I hope I'm in for a good ride. Also: Ingukkie. Nuff said.

Other stuff:

I stopped watching Warm And Cozy after episode 8 even though I really like the leads as well as the Mayor and Poong-san. Maybe I'll continue it later. Superdaddy Yeol is also another series that I dropped this year. I was on frickin 10th episode. But it started to make no sense at all, especially the main couple. Blah.

Down to the last two episodes of Healer (I'm only watching this now? Really really really?). It was super tight-grip-on-the-edge-of-your-seat thrilling. And very romantic (*sigh). But what I loved best was the perfect tie-up and unfolding of the historical background of the five friends. What a piece of art, that is. This drama makes me miss City Hunter tho.

I am now starting Heard It Through the Grapevine and I find it super funny. I especially love the leads. Normally, I'd be annoyed at a kind of character that cries constantlty like Lee Joon's, but Go Ah-sung's contrast was well-matched with his that I can't help but love them both even from the first episode. It is my to-be longest drama ever watched. I have never watched a series past 25 episodes (and that was Boys Over Flowers).

Last, I have three "classic" series lined-up for my to-watch list:

(1) Coffee Prince Good god. Yes I haven't seen this even though the whole world's been telling me to do so. Haha. I recently just saw an English translation of the book and am planning to read it first. Maybe I'll watch this after Grapevine.

(2) Soulmates I happened upon this when I was bored and randomly checking out DB podcasts. I heard it was great and am intrigued. And maybe I need to watch something that would make me believe in "magic" ;)

(3) Delightful Girl, Chun-hyang I read the first episode review of javabeans about this, and learned that it was one of the earliest Hong Sisters dramas. Personally, I am not a fan of the Hong Sisters even though I loved Master's Sun. Their stories, for me, are mostly plot-driven and as a fan of character-driven stories, I sometimes find it difficult to "feel" the story because I can't feel with their characters, which ends up with me not liking their dramas that much. But anyway, I want to check this out since I find it quite intriguing.

Right now I am just very much looking forward to Oh My Ghostess and am hoping that it's good. Nothing I've seen since Marriage Not Dating matches to its glorious rom-com yet. I liked the poster for Scholar and find Yubi so pretty, but sadly, I'm not a fan of sageuks. Also looking forward to Reply 1988

My first in OT or maybe after a long long time...

I just need to gush now about my new crack - My Beautiful Bride. 2 episodes in and I am hooked, actually it already got me in the 1st episode.

Recently I have been in a mood for crime and thrillers. Was curious and taken in by the teasers and posters of Hidden Identity but sadly the drama disappoints. I was still ranting about how k thrillers seemed more style than substance. Kim Bum looked incredibly badass but his character is not. Not a fan of his but feel sorry that this role is not doing anything for him. Is it age or screen presence? Sometimes I think Park Sung Woong overplays his poker face expressions but man, when this guy turns up the notch, he is scary. He's also good at fighting scenes.

Now, back to MBB which interests me because I like to see Lee Si Young being the tough female character. But it was Kim Moo Yeol who blew me away. I know nothing about him except that he was very successful as a stage actor. I am impressed by how controlled his acting is. He fits his character in MBB to the tee. This is the way I want my thrillers to be, I found myself holding my breath unconsciously. I will definitely be checking this writer out after this. Hope this drama continues to be good, I haven't finished any for a long while.

Agree on Kim Moo Yeol in MBB. I didn't know he is musical actor. I read he is doing his own action scene. PD praised him early on (He is remarkable and will make it big).

Not watching a whole lot.

The Time I've Loved You: Like it so far. HJW, squee!

I have started watching In Time With You. Enjoying it so far.

Hwjaeong, behind latest eps.

Finished Cruel City. So much carnage throughout the show. I wish the body count hadn't been so high.

My Beautiful Bride sounds good. I'm going to check it out.

Waiting for Queen Insoo subs.

I just started Mask and the show is definite crack for me. I haven't had a crack drama in so long. It's bringing back the feelings I used to have when I started watching kdramas for the first time! There's cliche moments but I'm lapping it all up, I love it! Also loving both the male leads. They are both hot and crazy (in different ways).

I didn't care for Ju Ji-Hoon in Goong at all, he just seemed angsty and unlikeable but here he shows he has acting chops AND great comedic timing. His funny moments are subtle but they make me laugh harder than the maid and butler whose comedic moments are too shoehorned in to the plot and seem too abrupt. Also, he's just so swoon worthy during the cliche romantic moments. Really loving it and I'm to continue my marathon!!

Like you, Mask brings back the feels for me too of what it felt like when I first started watching kdramas. I guess that's why I like it so much. Nowadays more often than not, when watching kdramas feels like this are few and far between.

SO late to the party; I'm sure nobody is reading, but I'm posting anyway!

I wasn't here because I had to drive my youngest two states over (11 hrs of driving each way) to drop her off at my Mom's for the rest of the summer. She was very excited.

The hubby & I decided that we'd hit as many Korean restaurants as possible between here & there. Alas, it was not to be.

The first one we stopped at was Korea Garden in Valdosta, GA - run by a very nice older couple. We had their bento box lunch (which was a LOT of food). I ordered spicy pork & the youngest ordered galbi. It came with rice, a mountain of tempura-fried veggies, kimbap, and lettuce. Lots of kimchi (which was heavily fermented & I have confirmed that I really like the fresh kimchi, but not so much the highly fermented stuff.)
We had to leave early because the restaurant had to close for a family emergency.

On the way back, we tried to stop at a Korean Taqueria in Atlanta, lured by the promise of bulgogi quesadillas. It took forever to find, and it was a tiny place in an industrial park. Also, closed.

So we drove to a different Korean taqueria in downtown Atlanta, TaKorea. It was beautiful outside & their menu looked great. Also: Closed.

We ate at a Chinese place which was...ok. Not what I wanted.

So the next day, we tried to eat at a fusion Korean breakfast place in Gainesville, FL....also: Closed.

:stomps foot like a toddler: Georgia, you disappointed me.
