Book giveaway: P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han

We’re back with another book giveaway!

Perhaps you’ll recall that we did a giveaway last year for the young adult novel To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han, which we were happy to do because the book was sweet, funny, and thoughtfully written, from the perspective of a Korean-American teenager falling in love and navigating her first romance. Jenny is herself quite the drama fan, and I thought To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before even read like a drama plot transferred to novel form (I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t picturing certain K-drama actors in the roles).

The fabulous Ms. Han has written the sequel to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, which released just today — and since the last giveaway went so well, she’s giving us 5 copies to give away to Dramabeans readers.

Girlfriday and I have read the book, and it’s difficult to talk about the plot without giving away spoilers for the first one (which we don’t want to spoil since you should really just go read it!) — but suffice to say that heroine and middle sister Lara Jean still has her sisterly bonding moments, her fair share of embarrassing teenage-girl foibles, and a love triangle to twist you up, but in a good way (since both boys are such great characters).

TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY:

Leave a comment below, sharing your favorite K-drama set in high school. (Jenny names Answer Me 1997 as hers. I did love that one, but if I had to pick something else as my most addictive, I might have to go with Boys Before Flowers. I know! But it was cracktastic evil magic, okay? Girlfriday says both recent seasons of School, though she reserves the right to rescind School 2015 if Eun-bi picks the wrong boy. You know which one we mean!)

Be sure to leave a valid email address, since that’s how we’ll get in touch with winners.

This giveaway is unfortunately limited to U.S. entrants; apologies to all of you outside of the States.

Deadline: Thursday, May 28, at midnight PST. We’ll announce winners shortly thereafter.

If you’d like to buy the book instead, it’s now available from Simon and Schuster, Amazon, and other retailers.

Just have to say, mine's definitely Shut Up Flower Boy Band!
No romance (but that's another reason I love it ;p) and nothing comes close to that rawness plus actually apt-to-the-them great music.

I must say I have hesitated between boy's over flowers and the Heirs . But i definitely choose the Heirs like the protagonist I have gone to high school like that except I wasn't rich and yes I was few of the poor person who were in that school. And seriously the story have blown me away . I love so much the character of choi young do , and I wasn't hping more of him in the story line but alas ...he haven't win the heart of the girl >< poor him !

LOL! actually yes, since it was the one that got me on board Korean Dramas, I'd go with Goong although it was 50% set outside school too... but the protagonists were supposed to be 19-year olds in school, fumbling at being adults and royalty to boot! Yeah! Goong!!!!

I'm so glad that you brought up Dream High. It's also one of my favorite dramas (hehehe and I'm in the U.S. woohoo).

I loved Dream High because I watched It during my senior year of high school. The self-discovery that the characters went through really resonated with me during my own period of transition. I can still remember when Taecyeon (hahaha I remeber his real name but not his characters name because after the series I became a 2pm fan) told Suzy that choices are never 100% because then they wouldn't be called choices. Instead you pick one and work hard to make that 50% into 100%. I just love that saying. When I have to make difficult decisions, I always remeber that quote because it's true, it wouldn't be a choice if it were easy. Instead I have to work hard to affirm my decision.

The singing and the dancing also made it so fun.

I'm not in the states, but still had to say - Dream High is the best High School drama I've seen and nothing even comes close to it.

And for School 2015, I'm Team Yi Ahn, and no regrets what so ever :p

Mine is stuck between Angry Mom and Shut Up Flower Boy Band! In Angry Mom, there was Ji Soo being heart-wrenchingly amazing and Kim Hee Seon being all-around awesome (to be honest, I would probably watch fifty episodes of her character just picking fights with Go Bok Dong and Hong Sang Tae with Noah trying to break up the fights, like the earlier episodes), but Shut Up! had bromance and captured what it meant to feel young and at the top of the world. I think I'll go with Shut Up! Flower Boy Band.

Ma Boy!Haha! I know it's short but I just love it for the reversal of a boy pretending to be a girl and it's where I first met Kim So Hyun! It has that happy, shiny-ness to it that tugs at my nostalgic, sentimental self and leaves me with a happy glow... And my current drama addiction- School 2015 (so far, so good).

Answer Me 1997.

It's not only my favorite drama set in high school, but my favorite drama of all. It has all my favorite elements. It is uproariously funny, a sweet and heartfelt coming of age story (I'm such a sucker for that), a really convincing romance, tinged with nostalgia, and every character was lovable and sincere. I may actually just go watch it again now for the umpteenth time.

True, they have holes here, there, but the heroine was fantastic. She had guts to say what she wanted and that made me jealous in a good way. I know if I could little bit be like her, maybe my world will be a lil different.

ok i'm going back, but one of the 1st k-drama i watched, after 'my name is kim sam soon/my lovely sam soon' was 'goong/princess diary'. it help solidify my blossoming addiction to k-dramas.

i know some will think it more of palace/royalty k-drama but much of what happened to the characters'occured in their high school.

look at the stars that came out of it: yoon eun hye, joo ji hoon, kim jung hoon, song ji hyo, & lee yoon ji.

i was just looking at some of the episodes on youtube & enjoying it all over again!

Ahh School 2013 is my pick. That bromance made my heart break and rejoice like no romance ever has. I was truly rooting for a repair of their relationship, more so than any other OTP ever. Gah! Those two boys just hit me in the feels so hard! But if we are going for ensemble cast, White Christmas. I was invested in almost every single character in that drama and all the pretty didn't hurt. ;)

My most favorite K-Drama set in high school is School 2013, because of the bromance!
It makes me regretful because I've been to an all-girls' convent school where discipline is strict that they even measured our hemlines to check that they're of the prescribed length. Our shoes had to be polished to a jet black and our socks had to be snow-white with a green band on top. If we have long hair, it had to be ties up with white ribbons (I know! And the "length" of the long hair shouldnt cross the chest, or else we have to tie it up!)
Even our library doesnt have any YA books, and once my teacher even confiscated a Harry Potter novel that I'd sneaked in (Order of the Phoenix, cover is blue color. It still hurts from the pericardial membrane of my heart whenever I remember it!).
Even KPOP was BANNED!!!! Any kind of pop, rock or "punk" music was banned from being played, as a matter of fact...
But I persevered. I held on to my love for K-Culture ignoring the rebukes of my teachers and the brush-off of my peers. It's because of K-Dramas that I managed to hang on to my sanity in that concentration camp of a school... :) I'm very grateful to K-Dramas for everything!
Also, I love "Angry Mom" and Answer Me 1997". Both are subjects that are close to my heart!
Do I regret going to such a strict school?
No.
And that's because if it wasnt for such a stifling environment, I wouldnt have known the value of wonderful world of K-Dramas. I loved American shows. But somehow, that grip of emotions thats there in KDramas is severely lacking in them.
Thank You for everything K-Dramas. I love you.
You're like the oxygen to my atmosphere. The pericardial fluid to my heart. The Rose to my Jack. The plum to my pudding. You saved me in those tough times.
And also, my school is the reason why I can face tough times without turning back. And KDramas are the reason why, even after a tough day, I know I have a means to enjoy!!!!
Thankful for everything that's happened to me because of KDramas. And especially high school ones. Because they mean so much for the wild high school days that I spent rebelling in my ultra-conservative school!!!
I even learned a prank or two from K-Dramas, especially School 2013, and I even used them!!! Hee!

P.S. Let me also add that KDramas are like the Geum Jan-di to my Gu Jun-pyo; Eunsang to my Tan; Shi-won to my Eun-jae; Hye-mi to my Sam-dong; Su-ah to my Ji-hyuk; Geu-rim to my Hyun-woo; Eun-bi to my Yi-an/Tae-gwang (I find both of them cute); and of course, Nam-soon to my Heung-soo (Hee! and yeah, rawr!)
These are all the high school characters that make me reminisce bitter-sweetly about my past! I love them for loyally accompanying me through this long journey!

Hmmm. this is a tough one. So many good high school themed shows~ Goong will always be my top fave show (amidst its dragging story~ like come on, who doesn't want a cold prince falling for a commoner. Hihihi)

But if it comes down to High school theme, I'm hopping in with GF. School series is the gem! School 2013 was successful in depicting almost real-life struggles of the students, and of course, best love team of them all HEUNGSOO-NAMSOON forever!

Currently I'm enjoying School 2015 too~ (it's actually the only show that I really look forward to every week. Sorry YYS, you know how much I love you but S15 takes over W&C) I still can't choose between HYA and GTK. But I believe in dramagods, they'll give happy ending to both. They'll give me my GEB-HYA and GTK-LEB, we pray!!!
