Healer: Episode 14

Oof. It’s a wrenching episode, taking us on a roller coaster ride of wild emotional ups and downs. Our hero has to grapple with some weighty, nearly unbearable, burdens, struggling to make sense out of the insensible. Thankfully for him, he isn’t as alone in the world as he thinks he is—and thankfully for us, roller coasters have upswings to counter the violent downs. Up, up, and away!

EPISODE 14 RECAP

Teacher dies. Jung-hoo arrives at the station in time to see his body being wheeled out to an ambulance, and his knee-jerk reaction is to charge at the scene furiously.

Dae-yong and several buddies are thankfully on hand to hold him back, though it’s a struggle. He flings them aside a few times, but they manage to prevent him from being spotted and drag him out of sight. It’s a good thing, too, because Detective Yoon just misses spotting Jung-hoo, keeping Healer undetected for the time being.

Dae-yong blocks Jung-hoo’s path to the car, and Jung-hoo slumps down against it, suddenly weakened. He reels, physically winded.

Then he gets in the car anyway, shoving Dae-yong aside, and drives off. Gah, not in that condition!

Min-ja is just as devastated by the news, and answers Dae-yong’s call with a heavy heart. But she pulls herself together to address the problem of their rogue Healer. So she puts in a phone call to Moon-ho, not bothering to introduce herself; she doesn’t need to, because the second she drops Teacher’s name, Moon-ho’s all ears.

Jung-hoo storms into the hospital with a single-minded goal, and his rage provides a tunnel vision that makes him think nothing of beating down the poor doctors who get in his way. He gets to the morgue efficiently—but once there, he hesitates, trembling in trepidation.

As soon as Moon-ho arrives at the hospital, Detective Yoon recognizes him and stops him to ask a few questions. Moon-ho’s got bigger concerns right now, but he can’t just shake off the curious cop.

Jung-hoo enters the exam room and has difficulty approaching the body, his hands shaking as he draws back the sheet. One look at Teacher’s face is all he needs, and the tears spring forth immediately, even as he says, “It’s not true, right? I remember how you played a trick on me last time just like this, you know. So get up. Teacher.”

He asks pleadingly, but reality is slowly setting in. Slowly, Jung-hoo sinks to the ground in a crouch.

Detective Yoon leads Moon-ho down to the morgue, and along the way they encounter the unconscious orderly in the hallway. While the detective calls for help, Moon-ho hurries forward to the morgue ahead of him—but when he arrives, the exam room is empty.

Moon-ho moves to draw the sheet over Teacher’s head, but pauses—this must be the first time in over a decade that he’s seen his hyung’s face. He wells up with tears.

When the detective asks how he knows Teacher, Moon-ho replies that this man was like family to him. Tears dripping down his face, Moon-ho leans over the body and promises, “Hyung, I’ll take care of this now.”

His reaction to the supposed Healer’s death naturally makes the detective wonder, and I’m hoping this doesn’t signal complications for Moon-ho… even though it totally will, right? Detective Yoon calls for reinforcements to beef up his investigation, and anticipates that they’ll have “guests” dropping in to get Teacher’s statement. They’ll have to set a trap.

As Jung-hoo drives off, he thinks back to earlier days with Teacher, such as the time he’d proudly presented Jung-hoo with home-cooked birthday soup (which did not go well). Then there was the time Jung-hoo had presented Teacher with his high school equivalency certificate and “won” a promised briefcase from the Teacher (which was full of porn, HA).

A car overtakes him on the road, then screeches to a halt in front of him, forcing Jung-hoo to stop. Jung-hoo tries to drive around it, but Moon-ho literally puts himself in front of the car, then grabs to hold Jung-hoo back while explaining that a woman called to tell him he’d be coming this way. And that he’d be out to kill.

Moon-ho blocks his path with his body and pleads, “Don’t do it! Don’t! You’d become a murderer because of bastards like that? Why?!” Moon-ho continues to try to stop Jung-hoo, who keeps knocking him aside, not giving up even after receiving several hard blows. Jung-hoo isn’t so far gone that he’ll seriously hurt Moon-ho, though, and stops himself from delivering a severe punch. Moon-ho gasps out that his teacher wouldn’t have wanted him to do this.

Jung-hoo asks in frustration what he has to do, and Moon-ho’s promise to figure something out isn’t good enough—he needs something now. He bursts out that he’s like this because there’s nothing he can do, so he demands that Moon-ho tell him something.

Moon-ho yells back that he’s felt this way for the past twenty years, fighting the frustration of being unable to do anything. Oof, you know, that is a very good point.

“So just give me a little time,” Moon-ho asks. “I’ll find a way.”

But now Jung-hoo turns the blame inward: “I called Teacher here. He didn’t want to come, but I called him. I made him talk about things he didn’t want to talk about, and got angry when he did. And because I was angry, even though he was here for the first time in eight years, we didn’t eat a single meal together. But that damned old man…”

Jung-hoo’s really struggling, and Moon-ho tells him to go ahead and cry. Instead, Jung-hoo bellows his frustration, then gets back in his car. Moon-ho blocks his car door and swears to take down every single evildoer and make them pay for their crimes, asking Jung-hoo to trust him.

Jung-hoo asks, “How? Aside from stopping me, what can you do?” Moon-ho doesn’t have an answer, and he finally steps back. Jung-hoo drives off.

Moon-shik receives reporters at home for an interview, now that he’s a mayoral candidate, and Myung-hee keeps up appearances as the loving wife in front of the cameras. But her face is stony when she listens to Moon-shik giving his interview, as he laughs how it’s both his strength and weakness that he’s exactly the same on the inside and outside: “I can’t hide a thing!”

Young-shin is puzzled when she can’t get a hold of Bong-soo. The boys were at her place all night working, and he supposedly only stepped out to go running, but never returned. Reporter Yeo points out that Bong-soo has a habit of running away in fear at nighttime or at dawn, and speculates that he must’ve seen something that scared him off… insinuating that Young-shin spooked him with her behavior, ha.

He and Editor Jang look at her expectantly for an explanation of what she did to run him off, but she doesn’t have to give one since Moon-ho arrives to explain Bong-soo being absent today.

Young-shin proposes to Moon-ho that they interview Moon-shik, saying that she’d like to tell him directly that they find his past shady so they can get his response to it. The problem is that he might decline a request for interview, so she asks Moon-ho to pull some strings, since he’s his brother.

“From today, he isn’t,” Moon-ho replies, startling her. “I’ve decided that Kim Moon-shik and I are not brothers. Not anymore.”

Despite the surprise, Young-shin doesn’t ask questions, saying merely that she’ll try getting the interview on her own. She admits to a particular interest in the wife, having read about how amazingly close the spouses’ relationship is. She allows that Moon-ho knows his brother and must have good reason to consider him unfit for office—but perhaps a man who is so devoted toward one woman all his life isn’t all bad. At the very least, she’d like to meet the wife and draw her own conclusions. Moon-ho agrees to think about it, which she takes as a positive sign.

She asks if he talked to Bong-soo, and he just says that he must be out with a cold. Young-shin starts texting Bong-soo, but deletes each attempt. First she asks “Bong-soo-ya” if he’s sick, and then she asks more formally, “What is your name?” Finally she sets the phone aside, not texting after all.

At her desk, Min-ja sets a shot of soju before a photograph of Teacher and asks him to wish her luck—she’s about to resurrect some long-dormant superpowers. Then she gets to business, unleashing her full hacker skills on her keyboard, which soon goes detected by the police department. Detective Yoon races to his terminal to get in on the action, recognizing the hacking pattern, a look of gleeful anticipation on his face as he counters.

Flashback: Min-ja is the lead cop on a stakeout, with a young Detective Yoon weathering the brunt of her rebukes as she outlines the importance of the case they’re working on. They have to wait for a warrant to be issued before charging in, but until then they have to make sure their targets don’t catch wind and delete their computer files.

While they’re waiting, Min-ja takes a call with her irate husband, who screams, “You call yourself a mother?!” It’s because she won’t leave the stakeout, although Detective Yoon overhears and urges her to go, because her four-year-old is in the hospital after yet another surgery. Just then the warrant is issued, and Min-ja orders her team into action, choosing work again.

In the present, Detective Yoon springs the trap. But Min-ja outmaneuvers him, freezing the system while she downloads the files she needs.

This hack brings back more painful memories, and the next flashback shows her husband accusing her of not being a mother, because she wasn’t there when her child died. Making things even worse, her police boss issues orders from above to cover up the case and delete those hard-earned files after all.

Well, it’s no wonder she quit the force after that. Ajumma raises a sardonic toast to Teacher and drinks.

She hacks into the Healer pad to tell Jung-hoo that she got Teacher’s recorded statement, which sounds to her like a message meant for Jung-hoo. Jung-hoo watches Teacher’s video, where Teacher says that he never gave too much thought to the jobs he took on, but ought to have. If he had, those thoughts could’ve been his signboard, directing him where to go when he felt lost, warning him of cliffs or construction ahead, or to turn around.

When asked whether he murdered Go Sung-chul on commission, Teacher replies that he doesn’t accept those jobs:

Teacher: “If a person kills another person, they become inhuman. You should die a person. That way, you can reunite with those people you want to see again, those who left before you. There’s one thing I regret: I should have quit from the start.”

That’s when Teacher turns away from the detective and faces the camera instead: “Give it up. Go live with the woman you love, raising two kids, a dog, two cats, a few goldfish. I should have.”

Shaken and confused, Jung-hoo can only ask in a small lost voice, “Why?”

Ajumma advises Jung-hoo to honor Teacher’s dying wishes, and offers to make him a new identity, or to solidify Bong-soo’s. But Jung-hoo says heavily, “It’s too late. She already knows everything. Who I am.”

Then he corrects himself: “No, not everything. She doesn’t know that being with me will bring her pain. That it might even kill her.” He ignores ajumma’s barrage of questions, saying that there’s nothing he can do but sleep.

So he sets out unplugging all his computers, pulls the battery out of his phone, removes his watch and ring, and heads for bed. Checking out of life for the time being.

Moon-ho drops by the ABS station, and although his former boss Min-jae is still peeved at him for the press conference stunt, she agrees to a chat. Moon-ho apologizes for putting her in a bad position, then explains how a close hyung recently died, and that he thinks he knows who killed him. Then there’s another guy who used to be close to him in childhood, who has been out of touch for three days.

Min-jae’s understandably frosty with him and tells him impatiently to get to the point. Moon-ho’s answer is a bit surprising—that she is the only name saved in his phone as a friend, and today he’s here to talk to a friend. “Because I have nobody to talk to.”

Min-jae notes that despite Moon-ho’s image as a fearless figure, she knows he’s actually the opposite: “You only ever fight when you won’t get hurt. You run away when you meet someone frightening, using an appropriate excuse.” She tells him it’s nothing to be ashamed of, however, “Since we’re all like that.”

Young-shin and Jong-soo get busy working on the Moon-shik story, and in between interviews she tries to track down Bong-soo at home using his resumé address, which turns out to be nonexistent. She sends him messages chiding him for skipping work when they’re short-staffed, her voicemails going from concerned to stern to threatening, warning that he’s missed his forgiveness window.

But by the fifth day, her voice is scared as she sits in the dark, asking, “Did I… do something wrong? Is it because I said I would wait that you can’t come? Should I have said I wouldn’t wait… that you shouldn’t worry? Should I cancel what I said?”

ABS schedules a talk with Moon-shik as a live broadcast, and Moon-ho decides to use that as Someday’s next broadcast. As soon as Moon-shik answers a question on air, within the next ten minutes, Someday will counter that answer.

Of course, that requires them to know what questions will be asked. But Moon-ho knows his brother will only answer questions that have been prepped in advance, and turns to his spy, asking if he’d like to be a double agent. Jong-soo would NOT, thank you very much, but really, there’s no refusing. He nervously agrees.

Moon-ho finds Young-shin still huddled in the dark, and she jumps up guiltily. He asks for her phone, and she assumes she’s in trouble and promises not to make any more personal calls on the job, only to have him punch in a number—it’s Myung-hee’s. He gives permission to use his name in asking for an interview, and Young-shin excitedly hurries off to make the call.

At home, Myung-hee heads into her husband’s empty office and tries opening his desk drawers. They’re locked shut, to her disappointment—but she catches a glimpse of something mounted to the underside of the desk. A button.

She presses it, and bookshelves slide open to reveal the secret space behind it, where the hidden TV screens are mounted. That’s when she gets Young-shin’s call, and more surprising than her request is the news that Moon-ho is her boss at Someday—all this while, she thought he was still at the broadcast station. Wow, she has really been kept cut off from the world.

Myung-hee’s also surprised that Moon-ho would have given her number to a reporter, as he knows that she doesn’t meet people. But she likes the sound of Young-shin’s voice and asks for time to consider, and Young-shin thanks her enthusiastically.

Min-ja sends Dae-yong on the rounds to track down all of Jung-hoo’s vehicles, trying to pinpoint his whereabouts. But everything looks untouched, and Min-ja deduces that this means Jung-hoo isn’t moving at all, which suggests he’s holed himself up at home. Dae-yong offers to go in person, but Min-ja says that even if she showed up there, she couldn’t get inside without Jung-hoo’s permission.

Next thing you know, ajumma charges into the Chae family cafe (yesssssssss) like she owns the place, ordering ajusshi to open half an hour early and demanding a female server. Haha. I love how she doesn’t explain a thing, and just lets them think she’s a weirdo.

Min-ja imperiously motions Young-shin aside to take her order, and Young-shin complies, despite her bafflement. Once Young-shin sits down, ajumma asks if she recognizes her voice, and repeats her words from her previous call to jog her memory.

Young-shin gasps upon recognition, suddenly alert and pelting her with questions. She says that Bong-soo’s been unreachable for days, her worry obvious.

Ajumma asks for her phone and links it to a device, fiddling with it as she tells her that Bong-soo’s been immobile for six days, probably not eating. She’s certain he won’t let her in, which leaves one option: to force him to open the door himself.

Understanding what she’s getting at, Young-shin asks tearfully, “Is he… okay? Is he not okay?” (I notice she’s now calling him “that person”—her way of referring to the Healer—instead of Bong-soo.) She grabs ajumma’s hand and begs her to tell her where to find him.

Ajumma notes Young-shin’s vehement reaction and replies, “I had to see your eyes.” Then she hands her back the phone, all the information there at her fingertips.

Young-shin follows the directions to Jung-hoo’s building, her lock-picking skills coming in handy in getting past the first locked door. She heads up the elevator, through the dilapidated warehouse floor, up some crumbling stairs, and to a seeming dead end. There’s nowhere to go from here, but the signal on her phone indicates that this is where she should be.

So Young-shin starts tapping on the walls and calling out for Bong-soo. Getting no response, she pulls out her tools and finds a stethoscope, using it to listen through the wall… and then she hears something click. A sign dangling on the opposite wall moves, and when she moves it again, the wall springs open.

Cautiously, she steps inside the inner lair—and there he is, in bed, looking half-dead.

Young-shin races to his side, and as she reaches to call for an ambulance, Jung-hoo’s eyes slowly open. She tells him gently, “Bong-soo-ya, I’m here.”

He sighs, “Daebak.” Which, all things considered, is hilarious. He reaches his hand out to touch her face, wondering at this dream. He murmurs that he’s cold, and at that she climbs in bed with him and cradles his head in her arms. It’s incredibly sweet. And as she holds him close, he snuggles into her side.

Some time later, he wakes up, alone in bed. Young-shin comes up holding a ladle (and are those his clothes she’s wearing?), holding it out for him to taste.

He struggles to get up, not at all happy to see her. She disregards his displeasure and informs him that she’s put in a personal day at work and intends to stay till tomorrow, and that he’ll eat her cooking whether he likes it or not.

He tells her wearily that this is no place for her, and that she should leave: “Forget this place, and don’t come back.”

His demeanor is cold and uninviting, and Young-shin looks at him intently and asks if this is the real him. Bong-soo didn’t talk like that, “But you’re a little scary.” She informs him that it’s dark and late, so she’ll leave tomorrow if he wants.

Ignoring his surliness, Young-shin sets him up comfortably and presents him with dinner. His mood darkens further as he grabs Young-shin’s things, thrusting them at her and pushing her toward the exit.

She whirls out of reach, refusing to leave, and he’s frankly too weak to do much else. Staggering closer, he asks in exasperation, “Why do you have so little fear?”

She replies, “I’m not afraid of you.” He points out that he’s hiding more from her than she could even guess, and she answers, “I don’t care.” He fires back, “Are you an idiot?”

“Don’t send me away,” she says. “If you send me away, you’ll cry forever.”

He says bleakly, “I could get you hurt.” She shakes her head, full of certainty: “No, you won’t get me hurt. Never.”

He struggles with himself, then grabs her wrist to drag her out. But she stops him, turning him toward her and pulling him into a hug. “Don’t send me away,” she asks again.

Jung-hoo’s face crumples in tears, and then he buries his face in her neck and grabs tight.

She holds him like that for a long moment, and then pulls back to wipe his tears from his face. She kisses him.

COMMENTS

So many things to write about, and they’re not even about that kiss! (Although, eeee, that kiss!)

I was really happy with where this episode took Moon-ho—even as far as yesterday I wasn’t sure what direction he would ultimately take, but today solidified his place standing alongside the Healer. I know he’d declared his intention to work together in the last episode, but it took seeing his old hyung cold and dead on that slab to finally cut the cord, and to realize that his brother had in fact crossed the line fully, that he couldn’t spare him from justice. I don’t think he was necessarily waiting for his brother to redeem himself, but he had enough hope that he wasn’t so far gone.

So now that he knows Moon-shik would (and has) killed, he’s finally ready to take the stand he’s been waffling on taking for the past twenty years. Moon-ho really is the linchpin in this entire story, because even now he possesses more information than anybody else, and it isn’t until he makes the decision that our mother-daughter reunion can start on its path. I suppose if he had had his brother’s ambition his kind of masterminding might be an ominous thing, but as Min-jae rightly points out, Moon-ho is actually rather timid. Good-intentioned, but lacking the courage to fight the big fight.

I guess that’s why he needs Healer and Young-shin on his team to see through the final takedown of the Elder. And while it sucks to have Jung-hoo so shaken by the loss of Teacher, it’s the perfect narrative catalyst to bring them together—because till now, they’ve shared the general stance of being anti-Moon-shik, but differed in their personal motivations. Jung-hoo doesn’t care about the Elder beyond what he does to people he loves, so he isn’t swayed by Moon-ho’s appeals for greater justice. Now, though, Teacher’s death provides a link, and I’m excited to see how these two work together from here on out. One brotherly bond may be severed, but who says another one can’t be formed? (As for the baddies, we’re still unclear on what exactly the Elder does, but based on what we know thus far, I’m imagining a shadow society of elites who manipulate all aspects of society to benefit themselves—I’m thinking Kishokai of Gaksital, for instance.)

I loved how the show depicted Jung-hoo’s reaction to losing Teacher, which felt real and raw, and bolstered by acting that totally made me cry along with the characters. There was an immediacy to Jung-hoo’s grief that I found powerful, and am so happy to see Ji Chang-wook become this character so wholly.

More than the kiss itself (although again, eeee!), I was moved by Jung-hoo’s reaction to Young-shin’s stubborn insistence on staying with him—the anger, confusion, fear, and eventual acceptance. Most of the time, noble idiocy in dramaland arises when a character pushes someone away “for their own good” in a situation where that angst is unnecessary, hence the idiocy part of the term. But it’s not noble idiocy when the reasons are credible, and it makes perfect sense that Jung-hoo’s reaction to losing one of the last loved ones in his life is to shut down entirely, especially when he blames himself for that death.

The heartbreaking thing is that the Teacher did totally die for him, indirectly; I don’t think he knew he was going to die, but you get the sense that Teacher would willingly do it again and feel it was worth the cost. He wasn’t able to protect the baby bears through the end of their lives, but he made good on his promise by protecting them through the end of his. But to Jung-hoo, all he sees is that people around him die, and that’s devastating in a twofold way: first, he costs good people their lives, and second, he then has to live in a world where they’re dead.

So he’s become deathly afraid of building any sort of meaningful relationship, because every time it burns him, it cuts deeper and deeper. Yet in comes charging this girl who refuses to let him bully her away, informing him that she will stay put, and refusing to accept his fear of hurting her. Moreover, she isn’t about to let him sink into self-ruin, and insists on taking care of him. Young-shin is totally badass in all the best ways, and she just keeps getting better.

I love how he sees her next to his bed and sighs that it must be a dream, and only in his half-conscious state does he allow her to come close. Despite the fact that they totally got to snuggle in bed together, I appreciate that the scene wasn’t sexy in the least, but more poignantly sweet, letting our damaged hero find some comfort while his guard is lowered. When he’s fully awake, you can see how much he wishes he could believe her while his head warns him not to… but thankfully for all of us, there’s only so much denial you can handle before you cave and have to accept it already. (Accept the truth, kisses and all!) Somehow it feels fitting that he gets to be with his girl against the backdrop of his imagined paradise, ’cause I think he’s doing just fine where he is in his reality, once he finally allows himself his honesty.

Thanks JV for the recaps! You have worked really hard in interpreting this awesome show! We appreciate very much!

Just watched eps 13 and 14 and I am in awe! No words slip my mind, I am brain dead LOL! Cant think normally, still feeling blankly. Is know, I know...it's all that "feels" that this drama is giving all its viewers and everyone of us is talking about here. The feel is just so surreal! I have never had this kind of craziness since I started being addicted to a kdrama.
JCW and PMY are such remarkable actors. They are so effective that us viewers are moved, even disturbed (in a very positive way I should say) with the way they handle their characters!. They are, no, they become JH/Bongsoo and YS. They give the characters the needed life and feel more than what is expected of them.

Not to mention as well all the other supporting characters, MH, MY, KMS, the Teacher, and of course Ajumma Minja ( i so love her). This show is splendid in all aspect!

I dont know how will i cope with the withdrawal once this ends! But i do know that i have all these people here in DB that I can depend on just by reading all their remarks, comments, posts in the future.

All fans....fighting!
Healer...Fighting!

The ending just made my day! I have seen the BTS of the eps 14 and its just incredibly amazing! It just added to my now overloads of giddiness, happiness..It's like I am in love! LOL!

I would've opened our little thread for us on OT today if I'd been pulling another all-nighter, but I'm going to sleep early (lol, if you can call it that), and for the first time in awhile. Is this going to be something like a test trial Doc?

@ Skyofblue

Well, sort of like a trial, ... I'd like to see how many of us are going to overflow into OT at this stage. And a comment there with several or many of us will make Healer even more visible on OT so that maybe more people will pick up Healer if they haven't already. :)

Also I kind of promised to try it out today. So I shall but I may be late. If anyone can go on OT first to start it, that will be fine.

Have a good rest my dear! I need to rest too (after going for a parent-teacher's meeting in a short while!!!) as I'm getting a bit sick. Sleep deprivation and reduced resistance is a fact!!! :)

Open Thread is up and I've posted in it already in Comment 13. :)

I think what I loved about this episode was the fact that it handled the issue of grieving. And it hit the core of the reality of these characters and how they deal with grief. I think other revenge dramas fail at portraying the correct emotions and consequences of grief. The way each character handled it felt real and I’m glad they spent the episode to display this profound effect on the characters. And that ultimately leads to what I’m hoping to be an epic ending where things actually do get resolved. My heart ached so much for each character and I am glad we got to go through the journey of losing a loved one and healing from the loss. Wow, I am just at a lost for words for this drama. It just keeps hitting the right spots.

And what I love even more about Healer is that the pacing of the story is realistic. I loved how he found out about CYS’ identity through Myung Hee because honestly, sometimes no matter how clever you are, you miss those small things and can’t piece these things together. And that’s why when SJH found out, he was so pissed and that scene where he confronted Moon Ho was realistic. And I love how the story has developed because it has a legit beginning…..some dramas just jump to the ending without solidifying the beginning and tying everything in together. I am amazed now that I look back at the first few episodes how greatly things progress in a way that makes more sense then Healer and Min Ja just coming upon “evidence” or concluding things. They conclude their speculations after investigation and confirm things. That’s what has made this drama so great.

I think I made sense in this comment. Every time I comment, I find it hard to find the right words to say to express my feelings so I just write the first thing that pops into my head and hope that it makes sense.

Yes you made good sense. I applaud SJN for writing what is real, true-to-life and exactly how we might behave, feel and react/respond. This is the key to why we are so drawn in by this show. We understand perfectly why and how the characters are the way they are and they have become real to us .... therefore we feel for them, we root for them, we want what's best for them, we are dying of anticipation as if they are members of our family and we are in each challenging situation together with them. This writer delivers a truly legitimate beginning, middle and, we trust, will deliver the most true-to-life and logical end. :)

Thanks @nutella!

JCW sure loves his food! He eats with such enjoyment that I think he'd be great for a food CF (or 20).

I know there's a compilation of JCW Laughing - I wonder if there's one of him eating? He seemed to be eating in every Empress Ki BTS I watched!

Poor PMY looked so cold! Whenever the cameras stopped rolling, she made a grab for her coat, poor girl! She needs more Healer hugs, that's for sure.

JB's song choice for this recap is so good as always (ep 4/8/13 being my faves). I've never come across Yellow Monsters or Horan before, but listening to the song gave me such massive ep14 feels. :)

I was going to say that too!

I've always loved Horan, as she did one of my favorite OSTs for Que Sera Sera (probably one of my favorite Korean songs, honestly), but I've never come across Yellow Monsters before. Now I totally want to check them out too!

This song totally goes with the episode perfectly!

Sub-thread: Dreamingsnowflake2013's ANALYSIS

Warmth

SJN knows what shippers’ hearts desire and she isn’t afraid to give it to us! Bless her! Episode 14 was great but after watching the last 10 minutes, the rest completely vanished from my memory until all what’s left was YS & JH finally together in a world of their own. I’m not suprised that JH thought it all a dream because only the most squeal-worthy shippy dream could possibly contain so much OTP awesomeness at once.

After watching countless winter dramas where you could see characters’ breath due to the freezing cold of the interior sets (which are huge and too expensive and difficult to heat up) despite their luxury, in Healer it finally makes sense for the first time - because JH’s home is one enormous abandoned building without a central heating or a single hearth. It used to be a factory; never designed for people to live in it, it was never supposed to be warm much less anyone’s home in the first place. There is no way you can heat such a huge space up. I’m surprised JH hasn’t died of pneumonia a long time ago. We have already seen him wrapped up in his fluffy duvet countless times. It illustrates how cold and empty his life has been, just like that building - imagine living for 13-15 years in such a cold place all alone. Now, it makes perfect sense that he wants to move to a TROPICAL island.

Rarely have I seen anything more heartwreching than JH being broken by the death of his teacher and completely detaching himself from the whole world in the aftermath. He blames himself for YJ’s death, for not being able to save him - the grief and pain consume him until he can no longer bear it and shuts himself down completely. He switches of the electricity, the heating, and doesn’t drink or eat so when YS finds him he is dehydrated, starved and suffering from hypothermia. Not only is this a self-inflicted punishment, but also a way to protect the last few people he cares about, because and he sees his very existence as the cause of their suffering. Therefore, he decides to end it all by simply fading away into nothingness. It’s not a downright suicide but a death wish combined with the lack of will to live. It reminds me of Sujini in the Legend (where Cheoro, one of my epic second male lead sydromes, came to save her) and it’s true that it’s something that appears very often in SJN’s works (for instance, Choi Young in Faith).

Lying in his bed, JH looks like an enchanted prince, mortally wounded and hiding himself in a high tower at the end of the world where no one was supposed to find him. But YS did find him. She looked for him desperately, she literally overcame his walls and broke into the lair of the greatest thief of them all. They are truly a match made in heaven.

(Cont...)

"Awesome. I’m dreaming of you." - JH

The wonder and happiness in JH’s voice is soul-stirring - he doesn’t even consider the possibility that YS coming to him and looking at him with so much love could be anything else than a figment of his imagination. He’s already given up the hope there could be a future between them because he sees himself as something poisonous, that can bring her only pain. Therefore, only in a dream does he allow himself this intimacy, this surrounder and gives into this yearning. MY FEELS! How he reaches out his hand to her as if she was an illusion that could disappear any moment; the sheer tenderness with which he caresses her cheek so lovingly and then when she reciprocates and takes his hand into her own! I love that after JH tells her that he is cold, YS doesn’t hesitate a moment and immediately climbs into bed next to him, cocooning him in her protective embrace as if comforting him was the most natural thing in the world; sharing her heat with him, bringing warmth to his cold, empty life. He looks like a lost little boy and in that moment he is at his most vulnerable but he snuggles to YS’ side and nuzzles his face to her breast as if her arms were the safest place in the whole world! The gesture speaks of gut-wrenching intimacy and raw need! He has been her shelter many times but this is the first time he experiences this feeling of safety himself. I swear that SJN must know all my kinks and fantasies because this scene is like something straight from my imagination! BEST HURT-COMFORT THING EVER!

Thanks again Anna! Once again Dreamingsnowflake2013 sure does know how to describe that scene so perfectly. Now that she mentioned Faith, I can actually see some parallels between this scene and Choi Young's frozen to death scene as well. Both characters were frozen/cold seemingly dead until their girl came and they can hear her voice.

Thanks for sharing these :)

Awesome! Thanks for sharing @AnnaAkana!

After watching the BTS vid at 305 (link by @nutella), it reinforces Dreamingsnowflake's description for me even more - Jung Hoo lives and sleeps against the backdrop of a summer island, but he's still deathly cold and empty, and only Young Shin's embrace can warm him. He may be the Healer, but she rescued him, quite literally.

It may be a trite observation but, more than any tropical island, Jung Hoo and Young Shin together can overcome a cold, unforgiving world (and generate enough heat to power us through almost 1700 words of squeeing in less than 4 days)!

Sub-thread: Dreamingsnowflake2013's ANALYSIS

~Part 2~

I really think these two must have been born under the same star because they’ve been DESTINED TO SLEEP TOGETHER (I mean, he is literally the only man on the planet she is able to sleep with) and give comfort to each other - be it during their childhood or now. What immediately came to my mind while watching this scene for the first time was episode 4 when it was JH’s presence and touch that comforted YS during her nightmare, but also other occasions when YS was at her weakest and most vulnerable. It seems to be completely instinctive for them to seek and find comfort in the other. It’s need and dependency on a visceral level - being without the other is like missing their other half.

@ AnnaAkana

What Dreamingsnowflake2013 says ...
"He has been her shelter many times but this is the first time he experiences this feeling of safety himself." and "kinks and fantasies"

Instead of being a kink/fantasy, I believe it is the most natural response of most of us, that knowing the loneliness, the danger and hurt that JH has suffered through no fault of his own ... we have long been rooting for him to be comforted (whether in our arms or not LOL! but definitely) in the arms of someone who loves him.

As mentioned several times, JH has become for us, a real person. His pain is our pain. This scene shows how true SJN is to what is fully human in our needs and the response that can fulfil those needs. She has not taken a shortcut, but shown us every step of the way, enabling us to understand how we came to feel the way we do, as if we are walking the same road as JH and needing and having the same Daebak dream.

There are not enough words to praise this writer!!

Nice, thanks your intake into this @Growingbeautifully. That was beautifully said and it's true I agree with everything you said too. I feel that that scene was so fitting and right especially when we're seeing this story unfold through JH's eyes. We feel his pain every step of the way and I'm glad that he finally gets comforted by YS. Like I feel so sad that he's been alone all this time and only all the more happier that he finally has that one person in his life who truly can be there for him emotionally and physically. The one person he's probably the most comfortable with. That's why this kiss scene, I found, was so much satisfy than the first kiss scene (even though it's short). :D

Some of you here say Lee Minho is overrated. I deeply disagree. He`s a very talented actor. And it was not the actors/actress fault that The Heirs sucked, it was the writers crap characterization/writing. So don`t blame the actors/actress if you didn`t like the Heirs because they just portrayed what was written.

Maybe JCW is a good actor but i don`t think he has the charisma like Kim Soohyun, Lee Minho, Lee Jongsuk and Kim Woobin to attract more popularity.

Just my two cents

Lol from your username you must be a huge fan of LMH... :)

I personally used to be a LMH fan too and have never blamed his acring in the Heirs since it's obvious that it's the writer/director's fault. But after seeing JCW's performance, I would say he's on another level than LMH. I mean I liked LMH and still very much so, but when I watched CH and compared LMH's disguises there to JCW's disguises here (I.e. as BS/JH/etc), I found JCW to be more realistic in his character portrayal. True that LMH has more charisma when going on stage or interviews, but what makes JCW more charming is his shyness and cuteness. It just has more of that innocence to him that I personally love and makes me love JCW more than LMH. ♥

Just my two cents for you :)

Isn't it wonderful that we all have so many amazing actors to love? I have to add that JCW has risen to the top of my list because of Healer, but I also love Joo Won (Gaksital!), Jang Hyuk and Lee Seung-gi. I also like Lee Min Ho a whole lot but have found I prefer actors with very expressive faces who really get into emotions beautifully. My favorite scene in Heirs was when LMH was in the fight and at the end of his rope on the sidewalk when Woo Bin saved him. It looks like Gangnam 1970 has some good intensity and it will be a movie that LMH can shine in if he truly has that acting ability. For my vote, I am stunned by Ji Chang Wook, for the exquisite combination of his subtelty and intensity. Simply the best actor with his eyes out of anybody. Wow.

Yep that's very true,I forgot to add that JCW did rise up to the top of my list too because of how can act with his eyes. He's so expressive and I find it rare to find actors like him nowadays. My other top actors were also Lee Seunggi, Kang Ha Nuel, Lee Jin Wook, and recently Im Siwan (thanks to Misaeng). I haven't seen Gaksital yet so I haven't heard of the actor...but actors like these are so rare to find that I think they deserve top awards. JCW really blew away with his performance in Healer.

@ Gangnam1970

I was looking up "charisma" and it includes qualities such as 'presence, dazzle, pizazz, allure, magnetism,.... etc etc.'

What JCW lacks in 'dazzle and pizazz' he definitely makes up in natural appeal and 'presence, allure and magnetism' and comes across as very likeably unassuming and honest.

In photos of him with many others, our eyes are drawn towards him, which probably speaks of his magnetism.

With Healer pushing him into the limelight, and with the evidence of his mastery of his craft, it will be a matter of time (and probably a short time) that JCW becomes solidly popular and in as much demand as other popular actors of his generation. :)

I think many of us have approach Healer from an objective point of view and when we started watching it, we still liked the other actors such as Lee min hi, lee Jong suk and on. But once you watch JCW work his charm as an actor, he has a lot of charisma and beautiful acting skills that are realistic and resonate well we audiences. He can be timid, strong, fearless, meek, afraid and everything within matter of seconds and that's what makes him so appealing. It's not to say. Lee. Min Ho doesn't deserve his success but honestly, some really famous people aren't famous due to their excellent acting skills but rather their popularity and looks. JCW is the opposite from that stereotype. He comes from a small agency and chooses different projects that allows him to showcase a different side of him as a person and actor. He has improved a lot and come a far way. He's not a big hallyu star like LMH or KSH but he deserves to be there with him because he has proven himself in many of his projects. His personality shines because it shows how humble and real he is. He isn't sucked into the fame life and is staying true to himself. Not saying that they all do but that's the charisma and unforgettable personality he brings to the table.

But after seeing JCW here, I realised how good of an actor he and I felt that he is underrated compared to LMH, KSH, KWB etc. So I do hope after this drama, he rises up to the top ranks with those actors since he well and truly deserves it!

"I want to end Bong Soo chapter at this point" ... "what explanation would he give for his disguise to others ?"

If PBS should return to the office: I was thinking that perhaps JH has especially since after his confession to YS, already been more and more himself and less like PBS, so that his colleagues may not really notice a sudden change. Also he is now away for days, so maybe it will not be so obvious that he is different. So it need not be revealed to be a disguise but just that he had some momentous experience/illness that makes him somehow different.

YS and Moon Ho will also cover for him and since they are considered the sunbaes/authority figures in Someday News, their word will be more convincing.

I have to talk about why I love that kiss so much. After watching 100 dramas - (yes, Healer is #100; I've kept an Excel spreadsheet like a crazy person) - I have NEVER seen a kiss like that where ALL the elements were so right. Her arms were up around his neck...we always see the men with their arms on top and the women arms straight down or clutching at his back. This looked so natural: the way she looked at him with total love and his chin trembled when she wiped his tears. This is a man, a boy, in total surrender, and she kissed him gently at first and then kissed him more, which made him react. Even though the kiss was stopped RIGHT at the point where we wanted to see more, we know that it goes on and probably gets deeper. We are all hoping to see that lovely, deep continuity right at the start of episode 15. This kiss has overtaken my previous favorite in Gu Family Book. What have your favorite k-drama kisses been?

I always feel like there's something about Healer that's amazing but I can't pinpoint it. Glad you beanies are here to do that for me. I'll try to do the same after the semester finishes (five.more.days.gaaaah).

I absolutely love this kiss scene, and as you said, it just feels right. One thing about this couple is that, they just feel so natural together. For sure, it is my favorite now, and for all the reasons you've said and more (which I am still trying to figure out in my blank-spaced head.)

My previous ones:
- quite a few from YFAS
-IHYV ones

aaaannndd...wow, it has been some time since a kiss scene has made an impact on me! Those two are the ones that come to mind. Previously, the immature me wanted kisses that were passionate, but as time has gone by, I have different standards for kisses now. It doesn't have to be intense, or anything like that. I want it to happen at the right time, and as you said, with all the elements blended together perfectly to give us one great kiss. For one, I think Healer is going to be my benchmark from now on.

I mentioned this a few episodes ago in response to Ivoire's comment on kisses.... however I'll mention it here as well.

My fave is the cola kiss in Lie to Me (Kang Ji Hwan / Yoon Eun Hye). There were actually 2 kisses in that scene. They are dripping in cola after spraying each other from a cola bottle, like kids, and then when they are aware of each other, he approaches to kiss her, but she wants to know if the kiss is going to be genuine or not. He pauses, confirms that is it genuine and swoops in for the kiss which is long and deep :D .

When he stops, she thinks about it and he teases that she must be happy to get her first kiss, to which she indignantly replies that it isn't her first and she goes on tiptoes with hands on his face and pulls him in for another long kiss. I always found the tiptoeing part so sweet, as it shows her coming towards him and he has to bend his head to accommodate her. Kisses with consideration, full of give and take, with the funny and the serious. Yup, that's my favorite still, so far. :)

There are so many dramas that fail to satisfy your apetite, to fulfil your expectances.... They are either childish or the plot lacks in consistency/ logic/ reality, or the portrayal is not that convincing, etc. Only few dramas turn out to be real gain, like HEALER! Yes, that is a wise way to decide how to spend our precious few hours for entertainment. Check out what DB or other reviewers say and maybe a bit of what forums say.

What I do sometimes is just to wait until several episodes are out and then jump in at Ep 4 or 6 or something, to find out if the OTP has chemistry, how far the plot has gone, whether it is too convoluted, whether there are people I like or cannot stand, etc... Then I may go forward or start from earlier episodes if my curiosity is piqued. :)

My all-time favourite kiss is the one from City Hall (Cha Seung-won and Kim Sun-ah), in the car by the waterfront. Actually there were several fabulous kisses in that drama. CSW also has some lovely smooches with Gong Hyo-jin in The Greatest Love. That guy can kiss. Ah no, he makes love with his lips.

Also, Queen In-hyun's Man (Ji Hyun-woo and Yoo Ina) has some really good ones, especially the one where she lifts her feet and stands on his feet and tiptoes up (she's tiny and he's tall). Omo, that was toe curling for the character and for me :-)

YES exactly! Everything about the kiss, from the scene/words spoken leading up to it, to the enveloping hug and the tears, everything was just lovely and so passionate. The kiss feels like it's about so much more than just attraction, it's about forging a connection, about not being in it alone, and, most importantly, about healing. All of this just inspires so much more emotion than any other kiss scene I've seen. It's affecting, yet comforting all at once. And all the hotter because of it.

Some of my favorite kisses:

Coffee Prince (actually the apartment scene reminds me of this with the "I'm not going out!" LOL)
Queen In Hyun's Man
King2Hearts

How the scenes are scripted is really important to me, more important than how passionate the kiss is. I want the moment to resonate with me, to feel iconic in some way, yet natural at the same time.

In the future, I really, really hope that we can try just posting links to the text previews here.

I'm really trying to go into the next episode blind, and now I have to be super careful whenever commenting on this page. I also know that JB doesn't, herself, like seeing previews before episodes and when we write comments like this, we're essentially sending her direct emails with spoilers. I'm sorry, it's just that this keeps happening and I really only want to gently request that we try to refrain from discussing previews here.

Thanks :)

Hey, I understand that you're all fangirling JCW, but people, let's give PMY some credit! Man she's so good at portraying CYS! I think it's the character that let her show her powers! :))

Ummm, a question for fangirls:
When you're fangirling, you're fangirling an actor, right?
What about being fan of an actress?
What if a guy is fan of an actress? How do you call that? Fanboy? Fanboying?
I knew that fanboy stand for other things like software, games app, devices....

I'm a girl, and fans of actresses as well, although I haven't *really* been a fan of any actor or actress until recently. I'm usually there more for their characters, and if I find them good actors, I look for other works by them to watch. I have to say though, really loving PMY in this role. She is bringing CYS to life. We don't get great female leads played with good acting very much, so I treasure every one. PMY's CYS is just great.

Fangirling however...depends on what you'd define that term to be. If it means squealing to no end about something the actor/actress did, it's usually over an actor for me. If a girl did the same thing, I would be really happy for them. It is not a matter of loving one over the other, but just the biological reaction. Photoshoots are just one example. I still do respect and like actresses though. The ladies who played the leads in my four favorite dramas are ones who I really like- Jeon Ji Hyun (YFAS), Moon Chae Won (TPM), Lee Bo Young (IHYV), and now I'm thinking PMY.

PMY is really in her best element in Healer. In her other dramas, I liked her in Sungkyunkwan Scandal but not much in the others.

I don't know if I fangirl them, but my top 3 Korean actresses are Ha Ji-won, Gong Hyo-jin, and Go Hyun-jung. I'll watch them in anything.

I think it's only fair that fangirls go ga ga over JCW, and fanboys sing endless praises for PMY. Division of labor, u know? You wouldn't want us fangirls to be having all the fun, would you?

Actually there is a thread on another page, directed at boys, asking how they feel about Chae Young-shin, whether they'd want her as a girlfriend, etc., but last time I checked no one had answered yet!

I'm not sure if I fangirl over actresses, but I get a sort of sisterly like feeling for them, you could say? So I just feel like I really want to get to know them and be there friend, and often this happens when they endear me to and make me feel for a character. Park Min-young has certainly done that here with Chae Young-shin. Though I liked her before, this is the first time she's made me feel this way. It's love I'm feeling, the love one feels for an awesome friend :)

@Chandler
If it's Youn Shin, it would be a definiyely yes for me. But it'd better be Park Min Young herself! :)) I would like to just know her, you know, like to be friends, aquitances, whatever!
It doesn't sound impossible, does it?
You know about Francis Bacon's theory? That you need a chain of maximum 6 persons that each one knows the next, from person to person to get to know a person from the other part of the globe. So in the end I could possibly get to know her for real.

I have been fangirling over actresses too but it's different with actors b/c I guess for the simple fact of sexual preference?
I watch most of my dramas solely for actresses too. GHJ, JY, JJH, LBY to name a few. Fangirling in the sense of cheering for them for their ability to portray any character in a compelling way. What also appeals to me is their personality that comes through in the roles they play. The show can be a disappoint but the actress can still sell her character so well which makes me root for her all the way(most recent example is Yoo in-ha, My Secret Hotel was bad but she was still pretty convincing in her role).(Ji chang-wook is that and a little more as he makes my heart flutter too...:$)
It's the same way I feel about Hollywood actresses like Meryl Streep and Hilary Swank.
What really aggravates me is when the fans of some young actor get so crazy that they'd, figuratively speaking, throw stones at the actress playing apposite them. That's when the feminist in me awakes and I begin to hate that kind of fandom.

End rant- hope I made a little sense...^^

"Fanboying" dose sound a bit dull, you almost want to say "flamboyant", but end up somewhere in the middle. Still, better than nothing, right?

Fangirling is relatively new thing for me, at least it´s been lying dormant for so many-many years that I didn´t even know I´m able to spazz over someone I´ve never even met before.
Anyway, now I´m pretty busy fangirling on both fronts (had Park Ha-sun in a police outfit on my desktop for months). Choi Kang-hee is killing it for me at the moment in H2H, her Hong-do has totally wrapped me around her tiny finger. PMY, definitely! I´ve been admiring her for a while, so glad that she finally has a role that make her truly stand out.
All in all, the Korean actresses rock, but they have still some work to do if they want to compete with my ultimate bias - Jennifer Lawrence.

Am just starting to watch H2H and realising that CKH is this good. She was good in Protect the Boss, but not memorable in Civil Servant. In H2H, she's just wow! I love her grandma disguise.

I like both first and second male leads though Pie is acting like an a__hole in these early episodes while Thigh (he got this nickname in Cruel City, I think, where he also played a cop) is just so sweet.

FANS who are GUYS:
Hmmm, guys who are fans of actresses (and actors too) ... there's no name coined for them yet. I'd call them fan-guys I guess. I'd like to have that differentiation actually. It's nice to know when a point-of-view is coming from a guy. They have a different take on things and their thoughts add well to the mix and even fill some holes and complete some loops. FAN-GUYS!!! where are you? Be heard, read and enjoyed!!!! :)

I just want to leave this here before I forget. I saw people talking about fate up above, and a thought sprung to mind.

The meeting between these two may have been fate, but it might also not have been. It seems like a perfectly normal coincidence. Healer was going around, getting DNA from women to test, and YS happened to end up being one of them. But, as he got entangled with her, everything started unraveling, one by one. I like how their meeting wasn't just something that happened in an instance, but that it took awhile for that meeting to happen. It could have been that the first person Healer had to get DNA from was YS, but that wasn't the case. I like that the writer made it the coincidental meeting, and after many trial and errors.

I feel like I'm not making sense anymore. Trying to make sense of the thought in my mind, but it's not coming out right.

I absolutely agree with you. I second that. I also loved how it was a coincidental meeting because he wasnt expecting anything more from getting her DNA and it truly felt that way when he was trying to get it. And that draws me in as well knowing that. Because if CYS wasnt the right fit, regardless, he would have done the same for the girl who did fit the profile. But because CYS is such an appealing, interesting, different and unique person, he was pulled to her, thus him starting to like her. And his reasons for liking her make a lot of sense in his world. I don't think SJH is a. Person to just like any girl at all. He picked her for a reason. She stuck out to him.

I've been reading comments everyday, re-watched the past few episodes (especially the magical moment on eps 14), checked out the BTS and even listened to Eternal Love on my way to work. I mean seriously, MLTR must thank Healer for promoting their song.

I'm holding myself back from seeing/reading any preview for ep 15 cos as hard as it is, I don't wanna spoil it. But gosh it's so hard. Can the weekend just pass by now?

Though it wasn't made obvious, I think she actually also had a magnet in her hand, along with the stethoscope in the other, so when the magnet caused the triggers inside the door to move the sign, she figured out that turning the sign might be the trick to opening the door.

Actually, when I first watched the episode? I totally expected it to end with Young-shin just finding out he's in trouble and having no way to find him. The thing is, in my head, I was telling myself, "That's probably how it's going to end, Chandler. It's due time for the separation angst. This whole episode is about them being separated for the first time, for a whole episode, just accept it."

Like, I was watching it live right. And I literally kept telling myself there will be no happiness in this hour. I don't know why, but this is what I've come to expect from dramas. At this stage in the story, it's normal for a drama to put our leads in a situation in which they miss each other. And I wasn't even particularly upset that things might happen that way. For a drama like Healer, it wouldn't be a bad, or unexpected move for the show to take, simply because it actually has the necessary stakes to make the angst feel worth it. And separation angst can be narratively satisfying when executed well (QIHM's a good example), even if it is painful to go through.

So I just want you to imagine me watching, expecting all this angst to be prolonged.

And then Ahjumma goes to Young-shin. (And I'm like, wait. This can't possibly mean....)

And then, all of a sudden, I could not sit still. I was FREAKING OUT. Because I could not believe that Show was actually aiming for our leads to be together by the end of the episode. I can't remember the last time a drama so thoroughly surprised me in such a wonderful way. And as if that wasn't enough, the execution of the scene itself floored me. Like the warm, comforting embrace, their interactions, and how everything leading up to the hug and kiss was just lovely. What's more is that this ending just gives you the feeling that this is what this drama is all about: Our leads sticking together as they go up against all the odds stacked against them!

There's no reason why I needed to write such a long post in response to this, LOL. You can just consider it my love letter to this episode.

You've just put into words what many of us have in our minds. Our jaded expectations, our cynicism even .... and how because this Production Team is so Out of This World, they do not take the 'normal', drag-tension-out route but just turn events on their heads, we are all beside ourselves. The PD and writer have consistently understood how the characters can and ought to behave, how like real people they should be, and they have given them the scope and script in which to act this out. It is soo wonderful. We are with you, so full of joy and wonder and satisfaction over a story well executed and well told.

I agree with you because JCW is so natural at it. His acting never seems forced. And I think we are openly expressing how he surpasses so many other big stars is because of his project choices. He has showcased a variety and range of acting in all his dramas. Whereas you get KSH who has not been playing a variety of characters. Yes, he can cry but his acting doesn't make me fall head over heels. I like Lee Jong Suk and he is convincing to me but he is not JCW. Not to say I don't like Lee Jong Suk because I still like him and he is good. But JCW is just on a different level. He chooses projects that actually give his character growth like in Empress Ki and Healer. He's just amazing!

MY FAVOURITE BONG SOO MOMENTS:

1. Don't touch boss' food then YS take a huge bite - Bong Soo's face :D

2. YS: It would be good to avoid me right now and kicked the print machine -scared Bong Soo that time

3. The whole introduction scene with YS daddy and ajusshi specially trapped Bong Soo mutters " this is a big stack of books "... Ha ha

4. In ep 5 there are many the reaction to YS bear hug, the apology for running away but I liked the most when bong soo stupid bragging for calling police by a hand gesture :D

5. Getting jealous of YS MH interaction and crossing them 3 times ... So cuttteee

6. Then again bragging in front of MH about finding the bar's name " I ...myself found it" patting himself

7. During YS camera test Bong Soo's shocked look

8. The whole make over scene though I m not sure it was Bong Soo or Jung Hoo :D

Good morning (California time) everyone! Before I even get out of bed I reach for my iPad, move my cat off my chest and open to DB to read all the posts I missed during the night. What a lovely little community we have!
I'm going to go post on the Open Thread right after this!!
It would be so fun to gather the California beanies together…@Chandler and @skyofblue - YES…and, Sky, it's OK that you're a hermit but you're so close by. I want to take you out into the sunlight one day and take you to lunch. Really!!!
@Siesta , thank you for your comment at 247.1.3…I do my best to stay really young. Not hard, after discovering K-dramas and K-pop!
And - YAY - I'm so glad I asked that question about favorite kisses because you all listed a few I haven't seen - now must explore! I also have to add the beach kiss in I Need Romance 3. WOW.
Actresses: I love so many and appreciate their talent and beauty. Yoon Eun Hye is my absolute favorite because she is SO animated. I will watch anything with her in it. I now also love Gong Hyo-jin after watching It's OK, That's Love…OH…must add the waterfall kiss from that drama. They felt real as a couple, just like JCW and PMY in Healer.
About my crazy spreadsheet, @Mitrokta and @Fab…after my second k-drama (first Pasta and then Coffee Prince) I just had the strongest feeling that I had found something miraculous and wanted to keep track. My list is loaded with comments and ratings and I also have a long list of dramas yet to watch. I tell ya - and this is the truth - I am now longer afraid of old age or a nursing home because I will have thousands of dramas to watch!!! I told my daughter this and she eye-rolled me and said, "MOM! You are SO weird! I'm worried!"
Onward, Healer beanies - ONWARD! Mere hours left. Gahhhh.

I'm getting so impatient >.< I don't want Monday to come because I have work to do but at the same time...I can't concentrate. Time to rewatch? :3

I wish I could show my appreciation to the Healer team (cast and staff). I'm been feeling sad/down recently (not sure why) and Healer kinda lightens up my week and keeps me enthralled for the entire hour. Thank you Healer!

After re re re watching I really feel if they want to wrap up the show satisfactorily 6 more episodes seem not enough.. Too many secrets are there still to reveal , I wonder they would end this beautiful drama with a rush :(

That's my biggest concern as well...

CYS still has to find out so much more and how can KMH come up with a plausible plan to bring down both KMS and the Elder for good??

Hopefully the writer can work some magic and bring this amazing drama to end with a real bang.

You know, I've been worried about that too, but I still think the drama does a remarkable job of making huge strides rather quickly. Like I would not have expected to get to where we did at the end of episode 14, after watching episode 12, but we did and it didn't even feel rushed at all.

A part of me likes that the drama has all this stuff left for our leads to accomplish, because it means there's no time to focus on any romantic hurdles and it will likely be all about them working together, taking down the baddies and having some reunions/revelations on the side.

That said, yes, I'm nervous though. I want these next 6 episodes to be even more awesome!

You are right..what so great about Healer is that, the story seems to flow effortlessly.

Even a big reveal such as CYS finding out about Healer's identity is treated with not in-your-face-revelation but rather a natural progression to the story.

I can't say enough about how fabulously this drama is written and directed.

I was really trying hard to avoid commenting and just read the comments but then I saw the bts of the kiss scene and JCW's IG update(he's so pretty)so here I am again, hah!

And spoiler here in this page and in the previous one. :/ Writing the word "spoiler" is not that hard, right?

Yeah, I feel like there have been plenty of comments already requesting that people not post text previews here. I really wish people would just post the link instead, if they want to share so badly :/

@Fab
Nope! Spoilers annoy me. :D I'm just here, reading everyone's comments. I'm trying to behave and not post lots of comments, but sometimes I give in to temptations and comment anyway LOL!

@Chandler
Not posting spoilers/writing "spoiler" on a post that contains them has been mentioned several times already. Agreed, they should just post the link.

@growingbeautifully - HELP - I can't find the Open Thread link. I went back on DB home page and found the OpenThread subtitle in the right column but there are like 376 open threads and I didn't see one titled "Healer Lovers" nor could I find what you were referring to as Comment 13. Please post detailed instructions again. Thank you!

I think you should look for the sub thread in today's Open Thread. Her comment is nummer 14. (;

One of the things that I'm really looking forward to in the next episode is Young-shin and Myung-hee meeting. Their phone conversation was so sweet and natural.
But gosh I am afraid they wouldn't get the chance to meet. KMC might keep their meeting from happening, as he seems to control MH's every move. Heck she didn't even know that KMH left the broadcast station. Which means that she doesn't watch TV or read any newspaper. KMC is literally keeping her in a cave, isolated form the outside world. ;'(

I'd really love to participate but I don't have talent in creating or editing pictures. :/ Are you going to send them your drawing of JCW's eyes? It's so pretty. ^^

Anyway, I checked my fb and no friend request received from you. You must have sent it to the wrong person. My DP is pink rose.

Omg daebak I just saw a new JCW banner...one where he lies in bed. Just when I'm in bed now as well. So happy ^.^

Who ever created this particular banner, it's one of my favourites now :D

I think there are actually 2 of him in bed (is DB trying to kill me LOL?). I got one the other day, but it wasn't the one Omomo made recently...

Now that you mentioned it, yeah you're right @Chandler, I have seen 2 banners now of him in bed. The first one was the picture from his Instagram with that incredibly sexy gaze and the second one (my fav one) has him lying on a pillow looking at us. Both are really good...ahh looks like DB is satisfying my desires to see JCW every time I visit. Thanks for putting all those banners up Javabeans! ♥

Why haven't I chanced upon that banner? Been waiting for it for ages. I think it was one of those omomo created. That's my favourite although all of her banners are daebak.

This drama has the best cliffhanger ever! It really drives me crazy. Every week it gives you that problematic feeling on how are you gonna spend the whole week waiting for the next episode.
I'm beginning to like ji chang wook more and more after every episode.
Love the characters so much.

I think someone else may have already mentioned this about Teacher's death, but for me the reason why I think Teacher was murdered my MS was because the killing method was very similar to President Hwang's suicide and Go Chul's (? Sorry forgot the name...but who got murdered because of the video) murder. They all died due to ingesting some kind drug/poison. And we all know that MS admitted to killing Go Chul(?) So it's only an obvious conclusion that MD really did kill teacher. That foreshadowing scene wasn't there without a reason..

My sister is finally watching episode 14! She had texted me a picture of her crying from watching ep 13... And I had to bite my tongue, cause she's gonna turn on the waterworks at 14.

I'm sure someone mentioned it on here somewhere. But now that we know Ahjumma's story... It seemed so fitting that her care for JH is like a son, and his view of her as a surrogate mother. Maybe not in everything they do... But their care for each other is more than they'll admit. And I hope they meet face to face soon!

Okay I must admit I've gone back to lurker-days again for a couple of episode...but this episode once again made me de-lurk out of my comfy reading-zone! I kiss for a cliffhanger and this episode is just so full of awesomeness. My emotions were every where and I can't remember since the last time I've cried for a drama. JCW's acting was so realistic that I felt his every pain...safe to say I cried a lot and that ending was just so perfect! I officially love CYS and this OTP is giving me all kinds of feels. Seriously the best romance I've seen in ages and I'm so excited after reading articles that there will definitely be more OTP moments to look forward to. Seriously can't wait :)
