Healer: Episode 14
by javabeans
Oof. It’s a wrenching episode, taking us on a roller coaster ride of wild emotional ups and downs. Our hero has to grapple with some weighty, nearly unbearable, burdens, struggling to make sense out of the insensible. Thankfully for him, he isn’t as alone in the world as he thinks he is—and thankfully for us, roller coasters have upswings to counter the violent downs. Up, up, and away!

EPISODE 14 RECAP
Teacher dies. Jung-hoo arrives at the station in time to see his body being wheeled out to an ambulance, and his knee-jerk reaction is to charge at the scene furiously.
Dae-yong and several buddies are thankfully on hand to hold him back, though it’s a struggle. He flings them aside a few times, but they manage to prevent him from being spotted and drag him out of sight. It’s a good thing, too, because Detective Yoon just misses spotting Jung-hoo, keeping Healer undetected for the time being.
Dae-yong blocks Jung-hoo’s path to the car, and Jung-hoo slumps down against it, suddenly weakened. He reels, physically winded.
Then he gets in the car anyway, shoving Dae-yong aside, and drives off. Gah, not in that condition!
Min-ja is just as devastated by the news, and answers Dae-yong’s call with a heavy heart. But she pulls herself together to address the problem of their rogue Healer. So she puts in a phone call to Moon-ho, not bothering to introduce herself; she doesn’t need to, because the second she drops Teacher’s name, Moon-ho’s all ears.
Jung-hoo storms into the hospital with a single-minded goal, and his rage provides a tunnel vision that makes him think nothing of beating down the poor doctors who get in his way. He gets to the morgue efficiently—but once there, he hesitates, trembling in trepidation.
As soon as Moon-ho arrives at the hospital, Detective Yoon recognizes him and stops him to ask a few questions. Moon-ho’s got bigger concerns right now, but he can’t just shake off the curious cop.
Jung-hoo enters the exam room and has difficulty approaching the body, his hands shaking as he draws back the sheet. One look at Teacher’s face is all he needs, and the tears spring forth immediately, even as he says, “It’s not true, right? I remember how you played a trick on me last time just like this, you know. So get up. Teacher.”
He asks pleadingly, but reality is slowly setting in. Slowly, Jung-hoo sinks to the ground in a crouch.
Detective Yoon leads Moon-ho down to the morgue, and along the way they encounter the unconscious orderly in the hallway. While the detective calls for help, Moon-ho hurries forward to the morgue ahead of him—but when he arrives, the exam room is empty.
Moon-ho moves to draw the sheet over Teacher’s head, but pauses—this must be the first time in over a decade that he’s seen his hyung’s face. He wells up with tears.
When the detective asks how he knows Teacher, Moon-ho replies that this man was like family to him. Tears dripping down his face, Moon-ho leans over the body and promises, “Hyung, I’ll take care of this now.”
His reaction to the supposed Healer’s death naturally makes the detective wonder, and I’m hoping this doesn’t signal complications for Moon-ho… even though it totally will, right? Detective Yoon calls for reinforcements to beef up his investigation, and anticipates that they’ll have “guests” dropping in to get Teacher’s statement. They’ll have to set a trap.
As Jung-hoo drives off, he thinks back to earlier days with Teacher, such as the time he’d proudly presented Jung-hoo with home-cooked birthday soup (which did not go well). Then there was the time Jung-hoo had presented Teacher with his high school equivalency certificate and “won” a promised briefcase from the Teacher (which was full of porn, HA).
A car overtakes him on the road, then screeches to a halt in front of him, forcing Jung-hoo to stop. Jung-hoo tries to drive around it, but Moon-ho literally puts himself in front of the car, then grabs to hold Jung-hoo back while explaining that a woman called to tell him he’d be coming this way. And that he’d be out to kill.
Moon-ho blocks his path with his body and pleads, “Don’t do it! Don’t! You’d become a murderer because of bastards like that? Why?!” Moon-ho continues to try to stop Jung-hoo, who keeps knocking him aside, not giving up even after receiving several hard blows. Jung-hoo isn’t so far gone that he’ll seriously hurt Moon-ho, though, and stops himself from delivering a severe punch. Moon-ho gasps out that his teacher wouldn’t have wanted him to do this.
Jung-hoo asks in frustration what he has to do, and Moon-ho’s promise to figure something out isn’t good enough—he needs something now. He bursts out that he’s like this because there’s nothing he can do, so he demands that Moon-ho tell him something.
Moon-ho yells back that he’s felt this way for the past twenty years, fighting the frustration of being unable to do anything. Oof, you know, that is a very good point.
“So just give me a little time,” Moon-ho asks. “I’ll find a way.”
But now Jung-hoo turns the blame inward: “I called Teacher here. He didn’t want to come, but I called him. I made him talk about things he didn’t want to talk about, and got angry when he did. And because I was angry, even though he was here for the first time in eight years, we didn’t eat a single meal together. But that damned old man…”
Jung-hoo’s really struggling, and Moon-ho tells him to go ahead and cry. Instead, Jung-hoo bellows his frustration, then gets back in his car. Moon-ho blocks his car door and swears to take down every single evildoer and make them pay for their crimes, asking Jung-hoo to trust him.
Jung-hoo asks, “How? Aside from stopping me, what can you do?” Moon-ho doesn’t have an answer, and he finally steps back. Jung-hoo drives off.
Moon-shik receives reporters at home for an interview, now that he’s a mayoral candidate, and Myung-hee keeps up appearances as the loving wife in front of the cameras. But her face is stony when she listens to Moon-shik giving his interview, as he laughs how it’s both his strength and weakness that he’s exactly the same on the inside and outside: “I can’t hide a thing!”
Young-shin is puzzled when she can’t get a hold of Bong-soo. The boys were at her place all night working, and he supposedly only stepped out to go running, but never returned. Reporter Yeo points out that Bong-soo has a habit of running away in fear at nighttime or at dawn, and speculates that he must’ve seen something that scared him off… insinuating that Young-shin spooked him with her behavior, ha.
He and Editor Jang look at her expectantly for an explanation of what she did to run him off, but she doesn’t have to give one since Moon-ho arrives to explain Bong-soo being absent today.
Young-shin proposes to Moon-ho that they interview Moon-shik, saying that she’d like to tell him directly that they find his past shady so they can get his response to it. The problem is that he might decline a request for interview, so she asks Moon-ho to pull some strings, since he’s his brother.
“From today, he isn’t,” Moon-ho replies, startling her. “I’ve decided that Kim Moon-shik and I are not brothers. Not anymore.”
Despite the surprise, Young-shin doesn’t ask questions, saying merely that she’ll try getting the interview on her own. She admits to a particular interest in the wife, having read about how amazingly close the spouses’ relationship is. She allows that Moon-ho knows his brother and must have good reason to consider him unfit for office—but perhaps a man who is so devoted toward one woman all his life isn’t all bad. At the very least, she’d like to meet the wife and draw her own conclusions. Moon-ho agrees to think about it, which she takes as a positive sign.
She asks if he talked to Bong-soo, and he just says that he must be out with a cold. Young-shin starts texting Bong-soo, but deletes each attempt. First she asks “Bong-soo-ya” if he’s sick, and then she asks more formally, “What is your name?” Finally she sets the phone aside, not texting after all.
At her desk, Min-ja sets a shot of soju before a photograph of Teacher and asks him to wish her luck—she’s about to resurrect some long-dormant superpowers. Then she gets to business, unleashing her full hacker skills on her keyboard, which soon goes detected by the police department. Detective Yoon races to his terminal to get in on the action, recognizing the hacking pattern, a look of gleeful anticipation on his face as he counters.
Flashback: Min-ja is the lead cop on a stakeout, with a young Detective Yoon weathering the brunt of her rebukes as she outlines the importance of the case they’re working on. They have to wait for a warrant to be issued before charging in, but until then they have to make sure their targets don’t catch wind and delete their computer files.
While they’re waiting, Min-ja takes a call with her irate husband, who screams, “You call yourself a mother?!” It’s because she won’t leave the stakeout, although Detective Yoon overhears and urges her to go, because her four-year-old is in the hospital after yet another surgery. Just then the warrant is issued, and Min-ja orders her team into action, choosing work again.
In the present, Detective Yoon springs the trap. But Min-ja outmaneuvers him, freezing the system while she downloads the files she needs.
This hack brings back more painful memories, and the next flashback shows her husband accusing her of not being a mother, because she wasn’t there when her child died. Making things even worse, her police boss issues orders from above to cover up the case and delete those hard-earned files after all.
Well, it’s no wonder she quit the force after that. Ajumma raises a sardonic toast to Teacher and drinks.
She hacks into the Healer pad to tell Jung-hoo that she got Teacher’s recorded statement, which sounds to her like a message meant for Jung-hoo. Jung-hoo watches Teacher’s video, where Teacher says that he never gave too much thought to the jobs he took on, but ought to have. If he had, those thoughts could’ve been his signboard, directing him where to go when he felt lost, warning him of cliffs or construction ahead, or to turn around.
When asked whether he murdered Go Sung-chul on commission, Teacher replies that he doesn’t accept those jobs:
Teacher: “If a person kills another person, they become inhuman. You should die a person. That way, you can reunite with those people you want to see again, those who left before you. There’s one thing I regret: I should have quit from the start.”
That’s when Teacher turns away from the detective and faces the camera instead: “Give it up. Go live with the woman you love, raising two kids, a dog, two cats, a few goldfish. I should have.”
Shaken and confused, Jung-hoo can only ask in a small lost voice, “Why?”
Ajumma advises Jung-hoo to honor Teacher’s dying wishes, and offers to make him a new identity, or to solidify Bong-soo’s. But Jung-hoo says heavily, “It’s too late. She already knows everything. Who I am.”
Then he corrects himself: “No, not everything. She doesn’t know that being with me will bring her pain. That it might even kill her.” He ignores ajumma’s barrage of questions, saying that there’s nothing he can do but sleep.
So he sets out unplugging all his computers, pulls the battery out of his phone, removes his watch and ring, and heads for bed. Checking out of life for the time being.
Moon-ho drops by the ABS station, and although his former boss Min-jae is still peeved at him for the press conference stunt, she agrees to a chat. Moon-ho apologizes for putting her in a bad position, then explains how a close hyung recently died, and that he thinks he knows who killed him. Then there’s another guy who used to be close to him in childhood, who has been out of touch for three days.
Min-jae’s understandably frosty with him and tells him impatiently to get to the point. Moon-ho’s answer is a bit surprising—that she is the only name saved in his phone as a friend, and today he’s here to talk to a friend. “Because I have nobody to talk to.”
Min-jae notes that despite Moon-ho’s image as a fearless figure, she knows he’s actually the opposite: “You only ever fight when you won’t get hurt. You run away when you meet someone frightening, using an appropriate excuse.” She tells him it’s nothing to be ashamed of, however, “Since we’re all like that.”
Young-shin and Jong-soo get busy working on the Moon-shik story, and in between interviews she tries to track down Bong-soo at home using his resumé address, which turns out to be nonexistent. She sends him messages chiding him for skipping work when they’re short-staffed, her voicemails going from concerned to stern to threatening, warning that he’s missed his forgiveness window.
But by the fifth day, her voice is scared as she sits in the dark, asking, “Did I… do something wrong? Is it because I said I would wait that you can’t come? Should I have said I wouldn’t wait… that you shouldn’t worry? Should I cancel what I said?”
ABS schedules a talk with Moon-shik as a live broadcast, and Moon-ho decides to use that as Someday’s next broadcast. As soon as Moon-shik answers a question on air, within the next ten minutes, Someday will counter that answer.
Of course, that requires them to know what questions will be asked. But Moon-ho knows his brother will only answer questions that have been prepped in advance, and turns to his spy, asking if he’d like to be a double agent. Jong-soo would NOT, thank you very much, but really, there’s no refusing. He nervously agrees.
Moon-ho finds Young-shin still huddled in the dark, and she jumps up guiltily. He asks for her phone, and she assumes she’s in trouble and promises not to make any more personal calls on the job, only to have him punch in a number—it’s Myung-hee’s. He gives permission to use his name in asking for an interview, and Young-shin excitedly hurries off to make the call.
At home, Myung-hee heads into her husband’s empty office and tries opening his desk drawers. They’re locked shut, to her disappointment—but she catches a glimpse of something mounted to the underside of the desk. A button.
She presses it, and bookshelves slide open to reveal the secret space behind it, where the hidden TV screens are mounted. That’s when she gets Young-shin’s call, and more surprising than her request is the news that Moon-ho is her boss at Someday—all this while, she thought he was still at the broadcast station. Wow, she has really been kept cut off from the world.
Myung-hee’s also surprised that Moon-ho would have given her number to a reporter, as he knows that she doesn’t meet people. But she likes the sound of Young-shin’s voice and asks for time to consider, and Young-shin thanks her enthusiastically.
Min-ja sends Dae-yong on the rounds to track down all of Jung-hoo’s vehicles, trying to pinpoint his whereabouts. But everything looks untouched, and Min-ja deduces that this means Jung-hoo isn’t moving at all, which suggests he’s holed himself up at home. Dae-yong offers to go in person, but Min-ja says that even if she showed up there, she couldn’t get inside without Jung-hoo’s permission.
Next thing you know, ajumma charges into the Chae family cafe (yesssssssss) like she owns the place, ordering ajusshi to open half an hour early and demanding a female server. Haha. I love how she doesn’t explain a thing, and just lets them think she’s a weirdo.
Min-ja imperiously motions Young-shin aside to take her order, and Young-shin complies, despite her bafflement. Once Young-shin sits down, ajumma asks if she recognizes her voice, and repeats her words from her previous call to jog her memory.
Young-shin gasps upon recognition, suddenly alert and pelting her with questions. She says that Bong-soo’s been unreachable for days, her worry obvious.
Ajumma asks for her phone and links it to a device, fiddling with it as she tells her that Bong-soo’s been immobile for six days, probably not eating. She’s certain he won’t let her in, which leaves one option: to force him to open the door himself.
Understanding what she’s getting at, Young-shin asks tearfully, “Is he… okay? Is he not okay?” (I notice she’s now calling him “that person”—her way of referring to the Healer—instead of Bong-soo.) She grabs ajumma’s hand and begs her to tell her where to find him.
Ajumma notes Young-shin’s vehement reaction and replies, “I had to see your eyes.” Then she hands her back the phone, all the information there at her fingertips.
Young-shin follows the directions to Jung-hoo’s building, her lock-picking skills coming in handy in getting past the first locked door. She heads up the elevator, through the dilapidated warehouse floor, up some crumbling stairs, and to a seeming dead end. There’s nowhere to go from here, but the signal on her phone indicates that this is where she should be.
So Young-shin starts tapping on the walls and calling out for Bong-soo. Getting no response, she pulls out her tools and finds a stethoscope, using it to listen through the wall… and then she hears something click. A sign dangling on the opposite wall moves, and when she moves it again, the wall springs open.
Cautiously, she steps inside the inner lair—and there he is, in bed, looking half-dead.
Young-shin races to his side, and as she reaches to call for an ambulance, Jung-hoo’s eyes slowly open. She tells him gently, “Bong-soo-ya, I’m here.”
He sighs, “Daebak.” Which, all things considered, is hilarious. He reaches his hand out to touch her face, wondering at this dream. He murmurs that he’s cold, and at that she climbs in bed with him and cradles his head in her arms. It’s incredibly sweet. And as she holds him close, he snuggles into her side.
Some time later, he wakes up, alone in bed. Young-shin comes up holding a ladle (and are those his clothes she’s wearing?), holding it out for him to taste.
He struggles to get up, not at all happy to see her. She disregards his displeasure and informs him that she’s put in a personal day at work and intends to stay till tomorrow, and that he’ll eat her cooking whether he likes it or not.
He tells her wearily that this is no place for her, and that she should leave: “Forget this place, and don’t come back.”
His demeanor is cold and uninviting, and Young-shin looks at him intently and asks if this is the real him. Bong-soo didn’t talk like that, “But you’re a little scary.” She informs him that it’s dark and late, so she’ll leave tomorrow if he wants.
Ignoring his surliness, Young-shin sets him up comfortably and presents him with dinner. His mood darkens further as he grabs Young-shin’s things, thrusting them at her and pushing her toward the exit.
She whirls out of reach, refusing to leave, and he’s frankly too weak to do much else. Staggering closer, he asks in exasperation, “Why do you have so little fear?”
She replies, “I’m not afraid of you.” He points out that he’s hiding more from her than she could even guess, and she answers, “I don’t care.” He fires back, “Are you an idiot?”
“Don’t send me away,” she says. “If you send me away, you’ll cry forever.”
He says bleakly, “I could get you hurt.” She shakes her head, full of certainty: “No, you won’t get me hurt. Never.”
He struggles with himself, then grabs her wrist to drag her out. But she stops him, turning him toward her and pulling him into a hug. “Don’t send me away,” she asks again.
Jung-hoo’s face crumples in tears, and then he buries his face in her neck and grabs tight.
She holds him like that for a long moment, and then pulls back to wipe his tears from his face. She kisses him.
COMMENTS
So many things to write about, and they’re not even about that kiss! (Although, eeee, that kiss!)
I was really happy with where this episode took Moon-ho—even as far as yesterday I wasn’t sure what direction he would ultimately take, but today solidified his place standing alongside the Healer. I know he’d declared his intention to work together in the last episode, but it took seeing his old hyung cold and dead on that slab to finally cut the cord, and to realize that his brother had in fact crossed the line fully, that he couldn’t spare him from justice. I don’t think he was necessarily waiting for his brother to redeem himself, but he had enough hope that he wasn’t so far gone.
So now that he knows Moon-shik would (and has) killed, he’s finally ready to take the stand he’s been waffling on taking for the past twenty years. Moon-ho really is the linchpin in this entire story, because even now he possesses more information than anybody else, and it isn’t until he makes the decision that our mother-daughter reunion can start on its path. I suppose if he had had his brother’s ambition his kind of masterminding might be an ominous thing, but as Min-jae rightly points out, Moon-ho is actually rather timid. Good-intentioned, but lacking the courage to fight the big fight.
I guess that’s why he needs Healer and Young-shin on his team to see through the final takedown of the Elder. And while it sucks to have Jung-hoo so shaken by the loss of Teacher, it’s the perfect narrative catalyst to bring them together—because till now, they’ve shared the general stance of being anti-Moon-shik, but differed in their personal motivations. Jung-hoo doesn’t care about the Elder beyond what he does to people he loves, so he isn’t swayed by Moon-ho’s appeals for greater justice. Now, though, Teacher’s death provides a link, and I’m excited to see how these two work together from here on out. One brotherly bond may be severed, but who says another one can’t be formed? (As for the baddies, we’re still unclear on what exactly the Elder does, but based on what we know thus far, I’m imagining a shadow society of elites who manipulate all aspects of society to benefit themselves—I’m thinking Kishokai of Gaksital, for instance.)
I loved how the show depicted Jung-hoo’s reaction to losing Teacher, which felt real and raw, and bolstered by acting that totally made me cry along with the characters. There was an immediacy to Jung-hoo’s grief that I found powerful, and am so happy to see Ji Chang-wook become this character so wholly.
More than the kiss itself (although again, eeee!), I was moved by Jung-hoo’s reaction to Young-shin’s stubborn insistence on staying with him—the anger, confusion, fear, and eventual acceptance. Most of the time, noble idiocy in dramaland arises when a character pushes someone away “for their own good” in a situation where that angst is unnecessary, hence the idiocy part of the term. But it’s not noble idiocy when the reasons are credible, and it makes perfect sense that Jung-hoo’s reaction to losing one of the last loved ones in his life is to shut down entirely, especially when he blames himself for that death.
The heartbreaking thing is that the Teacher did totally die for him, indirectly; I don’t think he knew he was going to die, but you get the sense that Teacher would willingly do it again and feel it was worth the cost. He wasn’t able to protect the baby bears through the end of their lives, but he made good on his promise by protecting them through the end of his. But to Jung-hoo, all he sees is that people around him die, and that’s devastating in a twofold way: first, he costs good people their lives, and second, he then has to live in a world where they’re dead.
So he’s become deathly afraid of building any sort of meaningful relationship, because every time it burns him, it cuts deeper and deeper. Yet in comes charging this girl who refuses to let him bully her away, informing him that she will stay put, and refusing to accept his fear of hurting her. Moreover, she isn’t about to let him sink into self-ruin, and insists on taking care of him. Young-shin is totally badass in all the best ways, and she just keeps getting better.
I love how he sees her next to his bed and sighs that it must be a dream, and only in his half-conscious state does he allow her to come close. Despite the fact that they totally got to snuggle in bed together, I appreciate that the scene wasn’t sexy in the least, but more poignantly sweet, letting our damaged hero find some comfort while his guard is lowered. When he’s fully awake, you can see how much he wishes he could believe her while his head warns him not to… but thankfully for all of us, there’s only so much denial you can handle before you cave and have to accept it already. (Accept the truth, kisses and all!) Somehow it feels fitting that he gets to be with his girl against the backdrop of his imagined paradise, ’cause I think he’s doing just fine where he is in his reality, once he finally allows himself his honesty.

Isn't it like a huge *whispers* turn on for guys when they see their girl wearing their clothes?
Maybe that will awaken Jung Hoo's inner beast and finally get some. The poor guy has been deprived all his life.

LOL I believe it is! (b/c when do girls usually wear their boyfriend's clothes? After getting it on.)
Seriously, after containing their feelings, longing and desire for each other this entire time, they need to be able to let it out before they explode *chuckles*

Omgosh. I've been going back and forth from the gutter to the land of the sane, alternating between decent thoughts and naughty ones.
What if something like this happens in the next ep:
Jung Hoo to Young Shin after their kiss: "By the way... why are you wearing my clothes? Give them back to me. Now."
AHJKSJHLAJKLJJLK!!! *blood spurts out from nose*

It's dark, they just had a very intimate moment, YS has to sleep over, there's only one bed...we can see where this can lead to

@dramapenchant & @siesta
I know right!?!?!
I mean, they've got to sleep. It's late. There's only 1 bed. There's no way YS will let poor JH sleep on the floor, nor the other way round.
+ Added bonus: It's freezing cold.
So therefore they've got to snuggle for warmth at least.
And then they realise that all pretenses are gone and everything's on the table now. There's nothing stopping them from wanting to do whatever they've been holding back from anymore....
So......... EVENNN IFFFFFFFF (and that's a big IF) they don't go all the way (rawr), I can't imagine them just stopping at a KISS you know...
So guys, according to my very scientific analysis, I would like to formally conclude that barring any interruptions (touch wood no!), things have definitely gotten steamy after the kiss...

Or start with muro-muro island. Or a phone will come through and they both head out to MHyee or MHoo. If the latter, they will strategise to protect Mhyee. Excited for the time CYS recognises her mum. I think we have peeled the layers of the past and future forward now...revenge.

That said, he's so weak right now that there'll probably be nothing more than cuddling. And I don't mind that! (for now...) As long as it comes after more kissing (they cut off right at the good part!).

Finally saw the ep w/ eng sub. And I think it's so cute she's already that comfortable on his place cooking and indeed even wearing his shirt that again is color coordinated. Lol. I thought when I was watching raw that she went back to the cafe to change and brought ingredients and just go back again to JH's place but turns out she stayed w/ him the whole time. Awww...
I noticed on that last scene both Chang Wook and Min Young's eyes are quite swollen and reddish. They must be really tired from the live shooting system aside from the freezing and negative weather. I want to commend them on their hard work. I hope they'll take it easy before their body give up on them w/ only few episodes left. And gets full rest once the show ends!

Everything about this episode was absolutely amazing. More than the kiss itself, where the plot has taken us is a ride that I cannot wait to go along on. I am thinking about what ep 15 is going to be about and how they will wrap up the series. Thinking of the ending makes me so sad!!! I don't want it to end ever! But when it does end, I can always watch it from ep 1-20! yay!
What I loved, and everybody else has already expressed.....is the fact that this episode was dedicated to Jung Hoo. Sadly it had to be following the death of his teacher but it made it so much better. Getting that message from his teacher was so heartbreaking and confusing for him.
I know that I love CYS with BS but I want CYS to love JH for who he is. And I am not sure where she is with that to be honest. I know she used the "BS won't do this" but I couldn't understand in what sense she was using that for. Yeah, to get him to not be hostile but JH is JH. I want him to shine more as JH. Will he get to be JH or will there be another identity he lives under?
Everything about Ajhumma was perfect! Loved how she strolled into that cafe shop like a boss and how CYS earned her trust. Gosh she is so cool. I agree that Dae Yong is awesome and would love to see her more because she can hold up a fight. She can't literally beat Healer but she is there for him. At one point, I thought she actually had a crush on healer too (was that a misinterpretation?). Probably she just admires him.
Love Ji Chang Wook and I cannot emphasize how phenomenal he is as an actor.

Yea in the first few eps, I thought that Daeyoung might have a crush on Healer too but I don't think so anymore. She probably sees him as a brother and I think she has a lot of respect for him too. I guess it works better this way because we know Healer's heart too well (he loves YS waaaaaaaaay too much haha). i thought that small "Why?" when watching teacher's video message was JH asking ahjumma why the video cuts off right after. that's why she responded by saying "you already see all you need to see."

First things first (before I unleash my 500 decibel scream coz of the feels I got from this ep), thank you Ms. JB for the recaps! Your writing is so beautifully on point as always.
"Somehow it feels fitting that he gets to be with his girl against the backdrop of his imagined paradise, ’cause I think he’s doing just fine where he is in his reality, once he finally allows himself his honesty."
My wish for the ending is that Jung Hoo and Young Shin don't actually end up living isolated on an island (despite the overload of romantic moments that will entail; and I doubt Young Shin will ever go down with that idea, no matter how much he loves JH haha). I'd much rather prefer them to see them as a successful reporter duo (like their dads) or maybe as a trio along with Moon Ho, fighting against the injustice of society/politics, acting as "Healers" in every figurative sense of the word. How gratifying that would be? If that happens, I will build a shrine for Song Ji Na.
Now on to the actual episode: OMOMOMOMOMOMO. AAAAAAAAH.
I... actually have no coherent thoughts of my own. My brain just went into crash and burn mode because of the the last several minutes. I cannot. I JUST CANNOT.

@Omomo actually I'd love for CYS, JH and MH to bring "Healer" back to its original mission - for reporters to be reporting the truth and to use that as a tool for political justice. They are, after all, literally the second generation (...well, except Moon Ho is really like generation 1.5 LOL) and I feel this whole set up and the stories from their parents' generation tying in nicely as to what's happening NOW is a really neat way to pass the baton on.

This show has thrown away all my reasoning power lately. Right after last night's episode, I 'died' in happiness. Not just because of the kiss, but because of everything that leads into it.
The hand-holding scene last week already took our breath away, and this time we have hugs and kiss, so gentle and tender and rewarding, considering what they've been through - it's pure awesomeness.
I supposed screaming OMG all the way doesn't really make sense so here I am trying to type coherent sentences now.
I'm normally not into romance, but this OTP is really so awesome that it's impossible not to root for them.
I think we have all tried to dissect what's so magical about this show, personally I still don't know, I guess it's really combination of everything. I just know that I feel them.. the characters ARE alive.
Awesome leads and awesome supporting characters too. They're all very much awesome in their own way.
If Healer continues to be like this to the end, I'm pretty sure that this is my fave k-drama of all times (beating all time fave Gaksital and the wonderful Misaeng).

The more we see of Moon-shik, the more horrible he seems.
It's kind of astounding how thoroughly he blasted Jung-hoo's generation. First he kills Jung-hoo and Ji-an's dads. Then he "loses" Ji-an and buries a box of rocks. Then he has Jung-hoo's mother threatened. Now he (or his creepy secretary) killed Teacher.
So, in total: he's orphaned Ji-An twice, she's been abandoned a number of times and then lost her adoptive mother, and he's orphaned Jung-hoo THREE TIMES. Meanwhile, Myung-hee has lost all the children in her life and can't have more, with no knowledge that both children are still around and motherless.
It reminds me a bit of this story: http://newsfeed.gawker.com/man-learns-of-long-lost-son-in-letter-hidden-by-wife-fo-1680685118
How do you even deal with someone so corrupt that they'd hide your own child from you, never mind a man who has orphaned children you loved time and again?
The positioning of Moon-ho in all of this is fascinating, too - younger brother/uncle/son, he's truly a mix of all of those things, so much so that I don't think he even knows where he stands. It looks like he's choosing to solidly side with the younger generation now, but I'm worried for him, given he may end up paying for the sins of the older generation by proximity and accidental knowledge.

Wow, interesting analysis, Miranda!
I remember on ep13 recaps by JB, "The end does not justify the means". We could really tell that Moon Shik isn't lesser evil or 'gray' evil, but as you defined, horribly evil. As for Moon Ho, hope he is solid on the youngster's side, guide and protect them. I agree that he may pay a high price for doing so... OH NO!! T_T

@Miranda just wanted to caveat that we don't know what went down in 92 and how the two friends (Gil Han and Joon Seok) died so it's a bit premature to convict Moon Shik for that - but we do know that he was opportunistic enough to have taken the advantage that the incident gave him to turn his life around (submitting to the Elder, not making efforts to find Ji-an even though he lost her etc.). We have also seen that Secretary Oh's first loyalty isn't to Moon Shik, and given that all we have been shown so far only shows Sect. Oh giving the kill orders, it's not immediately obvious that Moon Shik is the one behind it all - it could in fact be the Elder, which then puts forward an interesting possible redemption arc for Moon Shik (or not). However, Moon Shik's earlier comments in other episodes do paint the possibility that he really did send out the kill order, so I'm not ruling that out either.
TL;DR: Let's not make the dangerous assumption that MS was behind ALL evil schemes as we have seen the Elder indicate interest in all the various going-ones...but don't rule out that possibility either. Whatever the outcome, I'm looking forward to the ride. Writer-nim please let it be good!

Agreed, we won't know how complicit Moon-shik was in a lot of this, but when looked at from the kids' point of view he becomes almost cartoonishly evil because time and again he made choices that left them parentless and defenseless. On top of that, he's not even kept an eye on them - he let Ji-an vanish into the orphanage system and apparently didn't keep tabs on Jung-hoo either. So after having at least a partial hand in their fathers' deaths, he has a VERY active hand in BOTH of their mothers vanishing.
That's what get me about how irredeemable he is in the context of the kids. Teacher gets out of an eleven year prison sentence and finds Jung-hoo, but Moon-shik apparently just forgot them. A man with all the money in the world who not only owes them they loyalty of an uncle, but who played a part in dividing them from their living mothers, didn't bother to make sure they were safe even from a distance.
Jung-hoo was in juvie and Ji-an had been abused so badly she couldn't talk or bathe! Where the hell was Moon-shik? THEY WERE FIVE!

@Miranda I don't disagree that he has not been good to the children, but I also didn't think that necessarily made him all out evil, just weak and selfish - it's not like he knew Ji-an would be abused or that JH would end up in juvie. And let's be fair, he's not their relative or in any way related to them...and in real life, I don't expect my friends to take over care of my children when I'm gone, I expect my immediate family (grandparents, uncles and aunts) to do that...but given how closely their friendships had been portrayed, he should have taken more than a passing interest in the children. He didn't, because he was focused on keeping Myung Hee in his life, and following the Elder's orders. Until the whole truth about 92 has been revealed, I'm holding back fully condemning him - there have been a couple of scenes that have shown how pathetic he is (so, not a scary Bad Evil person, but like a Weak Selfish Evil person) and I'm waiting to see how black his soul is before I cast any stones.

I think I cannot comprehend adult friends not taking in children who are otherwise destined for the foster system. It might be a cultural thing, I don't know, but you don't let your friend's kids enter the system unless you are seriously unable to care for them, either due to finances or ill health. Even if you can't totally take over guardianship, you keep in touch and try to help.
But these particular circumstances make Moon-shik a terrible person. Directly or indirectly, he had something to do with their fathers' deaths. Directly or indirectly, he scared off Jung-hoo's mom (and given the secretary talking about "risk", I think MS knew). And then he flat-out wrote off Ji-an. Out of the entire family network that group had, he is the ONLY functioning adult, and he just abandoned those kids.
I'd be disappointed in him and consider him weak if disaster had occurred and in his grief he'd just neglected the kids. But he actively made their lives so much worse by abandoning Ji-an and driving off Jung-hoo's mom, and he clearly had the money to at least buffer them from the worst that could happen. I mean, Ji-an was beaten multiple times. That's all Moon-shik, right there.

January 22, 2015 at 1:44 AM
(I don't even know why I'm coming up with all these other perspectives, given that I don't actually like Moon Shik, but I suppose it's partly wanting to play Devil's Advocate, and partly cos the writing allows for room for the character to breathe)...
@ Miranda re: money to buffer them from everything that happened; actually right at the start, I don't think he HAD that money, and being under Elder's thumb, I don't think he would have had the courage to spend it to help the kids even if he did have the money. After all, he was always the weak, quiet, timid one in the group - it makes sense that he would cave in to Elder, and that he would be too 'afraid' (I say this in inverted commas, because I think it's his excuse to get away with what he truly desires, except he still wants to remain 'noble' and so perverts reality to convince himself (?) that he's doing it to make the best of a worst situation) to do anything that would incur Elder's wrath.
Re: the foster system, perhaps you're right and it's a cultural thing. It's a bit hard for me to comprehend such reliance on your friends, because here, family would likely be the first line of support (never mind if you haven't seen your uncle in blood for years on end) rather than family friends. Of course, MS's decision(s) to leave Ji-an lost, and to warn JH's mom away could be attributed to that he might have thought that this would turn the Elder's attention away from the two kids (which may or may not be right...we don't know) but...yeah, no, he's still a terrible human being. Of course, given the circumstances that he was in (we don't know what kind of threats the Elder used, although the lure was clearly Myung Hee) it's easy for us to say we wouldn't do the same, but...hard to say, hard to say. We didn't live the life they did. I feel like Young Jae is awesome because he stepped up (way above and beyond) but I don't know how many people in real life would really do the same. I hope I would be more like Young Jae than Moon Shik.
Miranda
January 22, 2015 at 10:56 AM
@Rainerust
Family's definitely first line of defense, but when the friend group is that close I'd expect the adults to keep in touch with the kids at the very least. For instance, one of my friends lost his father as a kid, but his "Uncle Thad" still sent him birthday gifts and kept in touch, and I think James went to stay with Thad and his wife for a week one summer - Thad was his father's college roommate, had no obligations, but saw that he was the closest thing to a male role model James had and took responsibility for that role. There were also two kids in town who'd lost parents and been unofficially adopted into friends' families rather than being shipped off to relatives.
Basically, if you're calling me Aunt, then I am going to act like your aunt. If your parents die and you get shipped off a hundred miles away to a relative, I'm not going to just cede you to your new family and wash my hands of you - I'm going to try to provide some continuity and make sure that you're okay in your new environment. At the very least I'll check in with your new guardian and ask what I can do to help.
I think it's partly the idea that my friendship isn't just with the parent, it's with the kid as well. If the parent dies the friendship doesn't just end - the kid is still my friend, and it would be a crappy thing to just cut the kid off since his mom's not around anymore. Probably has something to do with the cultural open acceptance of adoption, and also the idea of creating family units made up of friends. But yeah, you don't sent a kid up to Canada with his never-before-seen grandmother without people keeping tabs on that situation.

@Miranda Yeah I know what you mean re: friends being so close then they should be keeping tabs on the kids (especially if they know that the family / relatives wouldn't really be taking care of them).
Unfortunately, I feel like Moon Shik has never, all along, really been part of that 'inner clique' in the sense that I don't really feel like HE feels that he's a true friend to any of them. I feel like he stayed in the group, mostly because he wanted to be next to Myung Hee. His first priority (always) has been...well, himself first of course, and Myung Hee next. Not the other three, nor the kids. That's why when Ji-an went missing, he just let her stay missing...also I think it was a way for him to tie Myung Hee to him if she had no other connections and was therefore in a lot of pain, and was willing to submit to all the medication and be in a daze constantly. Imagine, if her girl was returned to her, she would make effort to get well better and faster and wouldn't rely on him so much!

I think the ratings are OK. 9-10% rating is not bad these days. More importantly, the drama and especially JCW generate lots of buzz, and always rank in the Top Search of different search portails. The numbers of his Instagram followers increase by 200 000 since the first broadcast. His weibo created 2 days ago already attracted more than 100 000 followers.
Also, I think he is very cool regarding this popularity/rating master. I read in an article that YJT and himself had humble expectations for the viewership ratings: “The two of us talk a lot about the atmosphere at the set being the most important. Because viewership ratings can do well or do badly, we do not bother about it but we try to work on making good memories together instead.” (credit http://jichangwookkitchen.com/2015/01/10/magazine-lady-kyunghyang-2015-january-issue/)
Of course I hope the drama does well but I try now to ignore the TV ratings and just enjoy this amazing drama :)

What cast or crew wouldn't wish for the ratings of their project to go up?
Of course he is very cool about the ratings. What is he supposed to say?
"Ratings are of paramount importance, regardless of viewer enjoyment and atmosphere on set"? Na.

I know the ratings are a little frustrating, but there's really nothing much that we can do. We're not even sure if watching from the official KBS streaming site helps, seeing as we're out of the country.
But I can think of some ways:
1. Migrate or take a vacation to South Korea within the next 3 weeks and be sure to tune in on Healer every Mon/Tue.
2. If you have relatives/friends/acquaintances in SK, chat them up to watch Healer or even just switch the channel to KBS2 every time it airs.
3. If you don't know anyone, make some SK friends online and beg them to do the stuff mentioned in #2.
(for the more ridiculous ones)
4. Learn some mad hacking skillz like Ahjumma and hack every TV set in SK to automatically switch to KBS2 during Healer's airing time.
5. Overthrow the government, run a dictatorship and issue a decree that everyone MUST watch Healer.
Haha. We're getting very desperate, you see. :D

I like the fifth option. Can I sign on as the rebel army leader? My army will consist of all those girls in the holding cells- their screams will shatter everything in existence, and voila! We have a new country! Stick up Healer posters and billboards in every square acre of Seoul, and we will have Healer Wonderland.

Hahaha. I'm not sure about liking Punch but heart is definitely for Healer now. I have love-hate issues w/ ratings that though I want good shows that I love to be popular and be recognized and have the stars the chance to visit my country when it turned out to be phenomenal and reached my country in its popularity, I still have that possessive side of me and I don't want shows I love to be too mainstream for the heck of it. I've seen comments wanting a bed scene, but I feel like it'd be great for that to happen after marriage (this is just in line with my own values). Also, if you reach that stage, you pass this line of deep intimacy. So, for me when I watch them do little things afterwards, like hold hands, I don't feel the flutter anymore, because they've already done the biggest thing, so the smaller ones don't feel as...exciting anymore?
Plus, let's be honest, this drama is providing us with moments that might as well equal the above in intensity, lol.
Beanies, your thoughts?

THIS. I actually mentioned that in my previous comment (101.1.1.1).

I'm of the mindset that as long as it's consensual and safe, and (preferably) there's love involved, then by all means sleep together. What better way to express that love than through the most intimate, physical act?
However, I do see where you're coming from about how by making it to the "final base" the other, smaller gestures *might* lose their flutter effect. BUT I think this show knows b/c if they can make hand hold that sexy, they'll be able to sustain this level of intensity. Plus, knowing that it's a korean drama the bed scene we do get (IF we're lucky to get one) would be so weak sauce that they other gestures, in my opinion, will maintain their spark. Any interaction between own OTP, with their chemistry level, makes my heart flutter and my feels to explode! ^^ A bed scene shouldn't take away from the inherent meaning and feelings of any moments that they share later down the road.
Just my two cents.

I get what you're saying too. ^^ Bed scenes don't even exist in primetime k-dramas. The most we'll get (if they will indeed DO it) is the morning after with the sheets covering them from top to toe. Or maybe just their bare shoulders exposed.
But I just can't see them doing it yet. I don't think poor Jung Hoo even has the strength to 'perform'. The guy's practically half dead. Lol.

The last 10 minutes gave me Coffee Prince vibes. If you've watched CP you may recall one of the latter episodes (the penultimate one, I guess), where Eun Chan was sort of barrelling her way into Han Gyul's flat and he was so very panicky trying to push her out. The reason was he was trying to be gallant, to protect her chastity because if she stayed he could not keep his hands off her. In the end, she stayed and well, they ended up in bed.
The context here is, of course, different, but there are parallels. SJH was being a noble idiot but thank the dramagods it's short-lived. He so badly needs comforting--what better way than CYS's tender loving care?
Will they end up like the OTP in Coffee Prince, with the start of Epi 15 showing bare shoulders under sheets? I am not for it. Yet. But more kisses and hugs, though. Mawr, mawr!

Those who want bed scene : Come on it's. Kdrama, as someone said that they would show bare shoulders that's it.. Those exposed bare shoulders can't surpass those little soft romantic moments ( at least for me, those moments make their romance unique)
Those who don't want : Its already 14th episode, we may would not have much OTP moments as they need to strike back ... Till now we are the receiving side, did nothing much to scare them, moreover YS does not know anything yet... So it's not very illogical to get into that "final stage"
I m on the both side :)

Can I just mention again how freaking amazing it is that Young Shin, the female lead, kisses the male lead first? And not only that, like really kisses him while it's him who resists initially and has that typical kdrama female lead reaction of a brick wall/fish out of water/what have you. BUT when he does accept her kiss and kisses her back, it's with the same level of intensity.
Ahhhhhh, the so many feels for that scene. I just want to break it down and analyze everything little word, pause, gesture, etc.

Thank you so much for translating these comments. I think one of the reasons for Healer's low rating is that KBS has not promoted it heavily compared to other station like how MBC promoted P&P or the way SBS promoted Pinocchio or Hyde, Jekyll, Me. There are also not many articles on Nate or Naver about Healer before and during its broadcasting period.

Thank you JB for your great recap and your commitment to this blog. Whatever would we do without you. :)
My thoughts crossing Ep 13-14: When we were commenting on who might take the fall for JH, we just played with conjecture, but never did I think it would happen the very next episode, and that it should be Young Jae. I had so much hope that JH and YJ would have ‘family’ time together, at least a meal or dok-bokgi at the corner stall. But no ....
YJ did not eat that last ramyun meal with JH when he left, he ate the birthday cake he bought for JH by himself and now there is no longer an opportunity to have a meal with JH. It makes me think if I ever skip a meal with family or friends!!!
Now sick at heart with self-blame, JH stops eating, risking death by dehydration in that cold, big space. And so it takes heart-healer Young Shin to come to the rescue and to feed and warm both his body and his heart.
How appropriate that the only right person Ahjumma could have chosen to reach JH, is also the only one (besides Teacher previously) who could (break in and) enter without permission.... just as she broke through into the hapless heart of Healer that previously only wanted solitude and brought with her, much needed hope.
A note of praise among a sea of praises, but this time I'm singling out the scene that made me cry: Kudos to Park Min Young in that scene of her conversation with Min Ja. The transition from polite, distant host to worried-scared lover was a sight to behold. I teared with her although I’d already seen the ending and knew what was to come. Truly a commendable performance.

i think ahjumma chose her not because she could break into his place but rather the only one who has a chance of persuading him to open the door himself.

Yes, siesta, you are right. :) It is a happy coincidence that the one who could persuade him (if only he'd get out of bed) is also the one who does not need to persuade him, because she can get in on her own. A little irony is a lot of fun! :D

And yeah. I think that's what hurt me the most about Teach's death :( I didn't expect him to just die without patching things up with Jung-hoo or having a meal with him like they used to. It's too sad. I'm so glad that he was able to at least pass that message on to Jung-hoo, but that still doesn't change that the pain of having your last words to someone be ones of anger is such a hard reality to face and that's what Jung-hoo has to deal with right now. I seriously have tears in my eyes just thinking about it.

I noted with interest, although I’m not sure if it was just a dreary day for filming, that the outdoor scene where MH prevented JH from going to commit murder showed an overcast sky, with dark clouds of ominous portent.
Offered the opportunity to cry, JH only manages a few tears and a cry of rage, while holding back more. Fortunately he drives away from (instead of towards) that darkness, and crawls into his semi-lit lair like a wounded pup, dry-eyed and careless of life because it hurt too much.
It is only when Young Shin, who knows who he is and the danger she could be in, still offers unconditional love and loyalty, that he can be fully himself. He can finally really grieve and start coming to terms with so much injustice and pain.
As JB says, it is fitting that we end “against the backdrop of his imagined paradise” – a mural that sometimes seems to be the only source of light in his lonely home and which presents the proper backdrop for restarting his life with Young Shin. :)

Wow, I love this comment. Yes to everything! I responded the same way to the key aspects of the scenes you mentioned (the overcast sky, the imagined paradise, etc.). Amidst so much sad emotions that have been stirred up in our hearts, I found, very happily, a lovely mix of the funny that balanced out the sad times.
One such was YS’s indignation when she is accused of scaring PBS away from the office.
Another, which I watched 5 times and burst out laughing each time: Min Ja looking big, beautiful and commanding, marching into Coffee Bay as she thrust little ahjusshi aside. The contrast in their sizes and his shock and her total disregard of him was hilarious.
Although remembered at a time of deep distress, JH’s memory of the seaweed soup ‘scare’ with YJ and of his boyish delight at getting his hands on the promised briefcase only to end up chasing YJ for teasing him with porn, also truly tickled me.
That scene with the almost man, JH, so proud of getting his GED and so pleased to have wrestled the briefcase from Teacher, is so delightful and so poignant. Finally we get the truly happier times that we never got a chance to see before, and once again, Ji Chang Wook nailed it as the bright-eyed youngster, so full of the hope that we want Young Shin to help him find again. May we end off in Ep 20, with a bright-eyed adult Jung Hoo making his own paradise where he is. :)

I have a favorite novel, Almost Heaven by Judith McNaught... Your last sentence reminded me of the ending of that book, in which the boy asks his father about heaven and he point to where his wife and daughter are standing and says that is heaven. I would love to see something like that happen to JH, who's experienced nothing but heartbreak all his life and has finally met a woman who can be his undoing, his hero, his healer, his life savior, etc. (Much like the hero in that book.) Amin!

Yeah! I actually noticed that this show is, like, really good at being funny in it's sad moments. I laughed at loud many times this episode (through my constant stream of tears).
Like when Jung-hoo said, "Daebak!" It's kind of this amazing, unbelievable moment where suddenly she's right in his world all of a sudden and you can't help but laughing at his reaction, despite how emotional the moment is, because it does feel like SO surreal. Even I couldn't believe it so when he said "Daebak!", it was like he was speaking my words LOL.

In case you missed this grand sale of body parts ...
(From the very funny-so-you-should-go-back-to-read-them Ep 12 Recap Comment 262)
To get funds to maintain the Drool Pool and springy chairs, polaris came up with a way to sell JCW drool-proof poster-version-body parts. (Wonderful business plan, polaris!!)
It has become a hot-best-seller at our Convenience Store. Price List is as follows. Kindly make your orders here. :D
For want of a better currency symbol (and since polaris had dollar signs knocking around in her head), we use the $:
-Eyes = $Kindness (look with compassion upon all even as we look with heat upon His Hotness)
-Lips = $Patience (enduring shortness of breath while imagining lip locks with those lips)
-Tongue = $Chastity (ability to refrain from being distracted by those lip smacking lip licks and be wholey wholesome )
-Jawline = $Temperance (restraint from jawing [idle talk] speaking only of how good JCW and people are/can be)
-Shoulders = $Charity (love and generosity where our shouldes can bear the burdens with others and of course are offered to piggy-back our poor tired JCW)
-Hands = $Diligence (Integrity in work and commitment to touch the lives of others in a good way)
-Abs = $Humility (Selflessness and respect for all body parts, especially well-toned muscles and the commitment to get off our butts and exercise!)
-Below the abs are special orders = $$$$$$$All_of_the_Above

BTW it seems we forgot we have a holding cell. Yup, you know the place next to the cellar where we put the really screwy souls (I mean screwy in terms of ‘insane’, don’t have gutter thoughts, girl!) who make those suggestive sounding moans and groans? They need to be calmed down so we can bring them up to the pools. Maybe we can throw them some Kimchi flavored Wooky Gum Gum? Keep their mouths busy so they don’t groan so hard while waiting. The noise is killing me.
506.2.1.1 polaris
@GB
Ahmn Doc… *doodling fingers* I know the reason of the groans and moans at the holding area…
Remember our last advertisement about the JCW body part puzzle… it kind of backfired ‘coz the poor souls can’t contain themselves to buy just a part and they kind of fight with each other to get the other… and then there’s the *whispers* nipple part (our supplier unknowingly delivered despite my cancellation)… which causes a riot and since @Sky is asleep that time, I’ve no other choice but to shove them all to the holding cell… that explains the sound.
So, if you may please… I think we need your professional treatment for those poor souls. *handing you the Do(u)ble S dart gun* (just for your safety, don’t go too near them).
506.2.1.1.2 Doc GB
@ polaris
Dart gun!!! But I’ve never shot anybody before!!!! Wait …. Will it hurt them? No …. don’t load it yet …. *listening carefully* Oh, I see … No of course I will aim carefully to avoid certain body parts, but really I have no intention of shooting them with a gun.
Just hold them down and I’ll shoot them with the syringe – yup just got a fresh batch of the Healerititis Retoxicol Combustion Fluid and Anti-Non-Addict’s starter set. Guaranteed to poison them further, make them intensely flammable and ensure obsessive levels of addiction.
Then for the final shot, we’ll just shoot them with the camera and the shock of seeing a pic of themselves fighting over *whispers* JCW’s poster nipples will just make them spontaneously combust. Once the dust clears, we’ll have the entire holding cell free (except for, ahem ... some ashes) and we can piece the JCW poster together ourselves and pa-a-arty!
Hey, those JCW nipples are MINE!!!
506.2.1.1.4 Omomo
... I have to politely decline the nipples. If there’s one male body part that makes me uncomfortable, it’s the nipples. And I don’t even know why. Hahaha.

Darling polaris, I knew I could depend on you! When this show is over, we’ve just gotta have a pool-side party. We’ve got the gum, we’ve got the drool, we even may have the drink ….
I hate to admit it *hic!* but this Combustion Fluid, tastes pretty darn good. *hic!*. Well, a doc has to ensure the meds don’t entirely do away with the patients, right? So like a responsible medical care giver, I gave it a try *hic*… and another try …. and another … *hic!* … just to be sure.
What doesn’t kill you can make you high *wobble* *hic!* Remember to plan a pa-a-r *hic!*-ty!!

Good idea!!! Hey gals, what happened to the shrink couch? We converted it? … Became a dentist’s chair with the drill appendage? … Well I don’t think drilling teeth torture will take the edge off addiction, but to each her own! They are going to end up in bed.
CUDDLING only of course! people! Get your minds out of the gutter!
Only because this is prime time TV so there's usually no sexy times in such dramas, and also I think the drama has been setting a tone with its high-chemistry but limited-contact scenes. The bed cuddling will probably be more for comfort (but still love!) rather than for any post-coital action. I'm not fussed either way (I love the OTP too much) but more than anything I want to hear their conversations because I truly think that the dialogue is one of the outstanding parts of the drama. Plus I really want CYS to be able to CLUE in!! C'mon guys, you're really not being fair to her! She can totally deal with the pain (she is stronger than you think, AND a badass) and she could make contributeeeeeeeeeeee to the plans (since y'all don't seem to be making much headway with that).

I hope they're snuggling together on the bed while JH recuperating and healing his heart and body so that they can fight Elder and MS in the coming episodes.
They will start digging deep on MS and Elder (YS and MH in the reporters' world) while JH/Healer will continue to dig about his father's and YS's fathers death/*supposedly accident*. They will find more dirt and will try to reveal them on broadcast.
YS will know the truth about her and her mother and her childhood friend JH and samchon MH, maybe end of episode 15 and she will have to deal with the angst of it together with JH in episode 16.

I also would love him to be a big star like the others too but honestly...he is so humble and he has great work ethics and is an amazing actor. I think he's getting there, not the way LMH or others got there (with one horrible remake of a drama) but he is legitimately displaying his powerful acting through working well with cast members and co stars. He's getting that recognition and I am learning that that is better than the stardom that sometimes doesn't add up for certain celebrities. JCW is not sucking into the fame like others are. And that is why he continues to be awesome.

I just love it when pretty actors are good actors, too.
Jung-hoo's expresssion when he finally gave in and hugged Young-shin tight was just heartbreaking. His tears fell the moment he grabbed her. It reminded me of young Moon-hoo when he was crying on Myung-hee's shoulder. And when Young-shin was wiping his tears, he looked so vulnerable I wanted to give him another hug.
I love the hug just as much as I love the kiss.
I love Ahjumma Min-ja.

I think what you said triggered something for me. Like how MH orbited around Myung Hee, JH did for CYS. Like mother, like daughter. They are just really lovable people that it makes people fall in love with them.

Oh yes, I almost forgot MH & YS's relationship. Like mother, like daughter indeed. Myung-hee was there when Moon-hoo needed a shoulder to cry on, and YS to Jung-hoo. And what Moon-hoo told Jung-hoo (It's okay to cry), was also Myung-hee's words to him back then. Such details.

Sleep or watch the episode and read Dramabeans? Judging by the time, I chose watch and read! I've been waiting allllllll day to find the time to watch 14. The downs broke me, and the ups brought me back whole. This episode was everything I had hoped for and more! The emotions were so raw! Incredible! Will watch this episode again for sure!

They are in live shoot so previews will likely be released over the weekend. As DB is generally spoiler-free though (and previews count as spoilers) you might want to just include a spoiler tag (and put many blank spaces before you start your first sentence so people have enough warning and can skip over your comment quickly) before you gush about anything that happens in the previews.
You can probably YouTube the previews once Fri/Sat hits....

Which is gonna be the day am gonna ignore all forums just so to not get spoiled even by chance!!
No idea what I would read with one scroll or one page down!!
This drama really works best for me when seen with no previews!

@Div you and me both. You won't see me on OT cos I am super determined to stay SPOILER FREE. Actually, you might not even see me back on this thread :( I'm torn...cos sometimes people just post spoilers by accident (cos they're so excited)...and I love this community...but no, I refuse to be spoiled again. I'll pop by one last time tomorrow, and then I'll probably bid y'all adieu until the next recap comes up!

@Rainerust
I will also be not coming back in weekend, am sure unintentional spoilers will be floating around!
Is there a place to discuss and rant outside of DB? Espcially after a episode is released RAW. That one night wait for JB's recap is no easy feat!
Especially when I cant find live recap anywhere! :(
