Kim Myung-min considers A New Leaf

Will we finally get to see Kim Myung-min (King of Dramas, Beethoven Virus) again? MBC’s A New Leaf is the first new project we’ve heard of in connection with the talented actor since he dropped out of movies Himalaya and Kang-ho’s Childbirth Story last year — a shame, as just the thought of the latter’s premise (he would have played the pregnant male lead) had me in stitches.

Of course, both the actor’s team and MBC were quick to note that nothing has been confirmed. The actor last appeared in SBS’s King of Dramas, which finished its run over a year ago.

A New Leaf will be about a cold yet successful lawyer who suffers from amnesia after a sudden accident, and his struggle to find his true self in the following days. Production on the show is currently casting both male and female leads. It sounds like an all-too-familiar story, but if anyone can rock a tired trope, Kim Myung-min, with his hardcore acting approach, can.

Choi Hee-ra (Golden Time, OB-GYN) is slated to write — evidently, she wasn’t forced into early retirement after bashing the cast of Golden Time in late 2012. Park Jae-bum (Scandal, I Miss You) will direct, and the show is expected to be a Wednesday-Thursday drama, airing after Sly and Single Again ends in mid-April.

Omo, omo, omo! I am so spazzing out over this news. Kim Myung-min headlining a drama?? BRING. IT. ON. His Anthony Kim was such a memorable character that I can not think of any entertainment news without the tagline "What Would Anthony Do?" rining through my head. Lol. And I can definitely see him creating this lawyer character in such a brilliant way. I just hope this writer doesn't bash him in any way, shape, or form because then we will have words.

The only actor who could get me to watch a drama by this writer (and by that, I mean, support her in any way) is Kim Myung Min. I still haven't cooled down from from that news years ago, if only because 3 of the stars of her drama just rocked my socks off in Miss Korea.

He is such an amazing and talented actor that if he signs on this show will def be on my to watch list. He can rock and elevate any character or storyline. Plus, we can never have too much Anthony ;) (oh I loved that character.

So it will be head to head with another prosecutor drama (KBS's Golden cross). From the synopsis about prosecutor who lost his memory makes me remember Haeundae Lover

Wow... I expected him to come back in a movie instead but this is such awesome news! I technically only saw KOD recently but before that, I followed Beethoven Virus through its run and that was forever ago!

I have a weird liking towards the amnesia trope. I hope he accepts and I can't wait to see who they cast opposite him!

Choi Hee-ra, really, there's people willing to work with that crazy lady?

Being someone that values talent over just being pretty, well at least when it comes to male actors I must admit that sometimes I let the women get away with being just pretty, there aren't many actors I can say I'll watch everything they do have complete faith in them to be awesome, but Kim Myung-min is definitely on that small list. So if he signs on I'm in for better or worse from beginning to end.

The plot is similar with SBS Birth Secret as in the amnesia part but this drama will have male acting it. SBS got female actor.

So we will have Lee Bum Soo and Kim Myung Min in MBC dramas but not in the same drama... *faint* Can we have them together in one drama... oh drama god.

but then if Song Seung Hoon take the offer in Triangle. It will be like 2008 again. Beethoven Virus and EOE, anyone.

I am so happy to hear about KMM! I hope this drama turns good.
I've been thinking whether any character can top Anthony in my eyes. I guess it will be a difficult task, but I expect KMM to surprise me, really really surprise me. Writer-nim, don't waste this chance :)
