Beanie level: Errand boy

Muñeca brava gave me the first heroine I rooted for. Natalia Oreiro played Mili who was a quirky, spunky tomboy that got her man at the end and deserved happiness !

OCN hyping themselves on why their dramas are entertaining. In the villains part it’s funny that they put not only Kim Jae Wook but the mom for Voice HAHA

OCN is so on point with its thriller dramas! I wish someone would sub this tho because I’d like to understand this video better.

I tried to translate what I understood 🙂

      *Chasing again and again restlessly

Bad Guys : Beast catching beast
Police Unit 38 : Something about swindlers
Voice : Culprit, I hear your voice
Tunel : Something about Ahjussi from 1986
Duel : A quality thriller with clones (I think)

      *Endearing characters :
Bad Guy : Park Woong Chul (bad guy thinking with his fists instead of his hands)
Voice : Moo Jin Hyeok (hot tempered Korean detective)
Bad Guys : Oh Goo Tak (knowing something cold detective)
Duel : Sung Joon/Sung Hoon (clones with genius face I think)
Police Unit 38 : Yang Jeong Do (this generation’s swindler)

*Scene stealers that shaked(?) your heart :
Voice : Mo Tae Goo, Ah Rim’s mom
Tunnel : Mok Jin Woo, Jeon Seong Shik, Jung Ho Yeong
Police Unit 38 : Ma Jin Seok

      *Crazy breathtaking moments
*Endings with twists (not really accurate)
      * Different with movie scale production

      *More exciting stories
      I assume it’s dramas description
Rescue Me : addictive drama (and something else)
Black : a suspense fantasy thriller drama (starring Song Seung Heon and Go Ah Ra)
The Return of Bad Guys starring Park Jung Hoon, Joo Jin Mo, Yang Ik Joon, Kim Moo Hyul and Ji Soo

OMG Thank you so much for this! Are you Korean? Or you’re fluent in Korean?

Anyway, I think I’ve become a big fan of OCN thriller dramas, they never fail me so far, and their production is always on the run. I love how they do work so fast! I remember when Voice aired on the second week, they already posted Tunnel teaser and already finished with Duel lead casting. And during Tunnel, they finished casting Save Me, and the cycle keeps on and on. I’m amazed on how they could give a lil bit of teaser on Black and Bad Guys in this video too. I’m looking forward on the next info of more on upcoming OCN dramas.

I just picked up a bit of Korean watching dramas and listening to Kpop haha.

I have always loved criminal/thriller shows so having a channel dedicated to this genre is heaven for me 🙂 They sure do a go od job I was surprised that they had something to show for Black. For Bad Guys 2 they used season 1’s actors shadows I think.

I\’m a drama addict and my mom is a telenovela addict. La Doña is her new crack. Apples don\’t fall far from the tree.

One of the few telenovelas I remember watching was El Clon, the remake of the Brazilian original. I think I got up to episode seventeen or something before I stopped following it. Those telenovelas sure are dramatic! 🙂

I didn’t watch but maybe my mom did. I saw the main actress in Marina it was quite huge when I was in elementary school.

I\’ve watched the first 15 minutes of Nirvana in Fire and can\’t remember characters names. Is it normal ?

It’s not normal. Normal is when you finished the first and second episode and still can’t remember the names.

I guess I should watch the two episodes then 🙂

I thought the trailer looked boring, so I wasn’t keen even though there was so much buzz. I started and wasn’t blown away immediately. It was around episode 3 where the drama got my attention and from there, no looking back. It’s rewarding, so give it time.

        0
        2

I’ve read that it takes time to get into it. It’s just that following the characters is hard when you don’t know their names.

Hey, mango! “Nirvana in Fire” is pretty good! The scenery is gorgeous too! I speak Chinese, so that helped me a lot, but even for non-Chinese speakers, I’d recommend that you stick with it. Maybe this character profile post will help you remember people? http://jolecole.blogspot.com/2015/02/nirvana-in-fire-character-profile.html

If I didn’t remember wrongly, they had a textbox with the character’s name in it whenever he/she came onscreen for the first time in the episode and this was done in every episode. Maybe these weren’t translated.

You’ll get a hang of it somehow!

I’m currently rewatching BOF and I still have no idea what the other 2 members of F4s names are. When I want to talk about them I call them F3 and F4. Or I look their names up online.

I’m in season 4 of the US show Empire and I still don’t know everyone’s name in that show. But….I have a crap memory. So that’s part of it.

    1

I didn’t remember F3 and F4 names in the Japanese adaptation LOL
I’m bad with real people names too but quite confident with characters. It’s weird I know.
As long as you recognize the actors/actresses that’s good 🙂

Oh, I’m also bad with real people’s names–adults especially. I used to do children’s services and kids introduce themselves to you 50,000 times. Id be in programs and its all, “YAY KAITLYN’S HERE! And….her…grownup…Hi grownup?”

I always have soft spot for secondary characters in dramas that become unforgeable for me.
Memorable Character #1 : Choi Yeo Jin as Jang Hee Soo in Valid Love. (more in reply)

9

Valid Love is not only about adultery. It’s about family and marriage life. My favorite part is the relationship between the heroine (Lee Shi Young) and her sister-in-law (Choi Yeo Jin). Hee Soo was bedridden and always needed someone by her side. That someone was her sister-in-law and what could have been a burden became a way for the heroine to vent and confide her feelings. Just listening was enough for her to get better but as time passed by, HS saw her distress and wanted to comfort with words and tell her that she is important. That was the most beautiful and sincere relationship in this drama. I liked the sequences with Hee Soo doing ballet. We had even more insight in her mental state. I cried when she passed away.

Oh, I really like Choi Yeo-jin! She’s always playing the Really Cool Unnie, no-nonsense type of roles and I love her for that.

I forgot she was in Valid Love! It was a poignant touch from the show when Lee Shi-young’s character would talk to her, and even though she’s just sitting in her wheelchair (or on her bed), seemingly emotionless, we get to see another version of her–the real her, and she’s got so much energy and just so real, that it makes me sad when the camera pans back to reality and she’s just sitting there, staring blankly.

It was my first time seeing her and she became my girl crush !

The directing and the acting for the women scenes were wonderfully done. CYJ’s character was really strong !

      1
      1

I’ve seen her around for a long time. She’s almost always playing the same type of characters, though, which I don’t really mind because I love strong female characters. I hope she gets the chance to headline her own show one day.

        1
        2

I saw her being cast typed in other show as well. She clearly has the talent to play a lead.

          1
          1

Right. But like, I guess I don’t mind it too much since she’s always such a cool gal. Strong, spunky, no-nonsense, independent woman > typical Candy.

Definitely! I’ll try to look for you when she finally does become a lead! We can celebrate it together. Haha.

Jo Sung Ha ahjussi is very charismatic! I’d believe if people say that he’s politician because the way he deliver his speech is really convincing.

    3
    2

It’s interesting that you point out his kind of politician’s speech when he’s a cult leader. I see something about it coming in the drama (or am I analyzing too much ?)

      3
      1

He basically control people by manipulating people in that town. With his influence, I think he even has the power to control who will be the next governor of the town.

        1
        1

I agree ! Sang Hwan’s dad uses “I’ll protect you like a father” as his campaign slogan. He must be have plans concerning the governor election.

          2
          0

Coincidentally he was a politician in K2. It’s true he is charismatic. Something about veterans – they are very charismatic even from when they are younger. Sohn Hyun Joo, Kim Sang Joong, Choi Min Soo, Han Suk Kyu – just to name very few are also very charismaric actors. My kdrama viewing experiences will not be the same without these actors.

      1
      2

I thought of his character in K2 but here he’s even more charismatic.
Veteran actors are something else. I discovered them in movies and I’m glad to see more of them in dramas.

        1
        1

He wasn’t given that much material in K2 to work with. His scenes with Song Yoon Ah gave me a lot of goosebumps though. I’m glad to hear he has more things to do in this drama.

          1
          1

Yess, so far ahjussi never failed me. I’d like also to add Kim Tae Woo and Kim Tae Hoon brothers in that list though they’re not that old, but still they are very versatile in acting and quite veterans in entertainment industry.

        2
        2

The Kim brothers are really good. I can picture in any role and know they will nail it.

          3
          0

They are indeed veterans and among my fav too! I normally categorize the actors as veteran when they have more than 15 years experiences regardless of their age lol (and it depends
of amount of works / how big of works they had done as well) 😂 Yeo Jin Goo, Kim Yoo Jung might soon to be on my list of veterans too haha!

I understand why he’s doing this but Dad, nooooooo! I can’t believe thise bullies just kinda moved on right away and didn’t look remorseful at all.

    2
    2

The bullies need to learn to be remorseful but not that way Dad nooo !

      1
      0

I think this is the way on how Dad enters the secret room in the basement of the church. Remember how the policeman send the drunkard guy to the church instead? I think he’s been doing it for a long time since he gets gifts from Spiritual Father. So most of bad guys or criminals would be sent to church instead to “cleanse” their soul.

      2
      1

The police station is still connected to the law so I think the police chef brought the homeless man because he knew the church would take him in. If criminals were sent to the church the bullies would be there too. If Dad is really going to hurt the bullies (I hope he doesn’t) he will be arrested and SF will “invite” him to cleanse his soul.

        0
        1

Ohh yeahh, I must have misinterpreted that scene. I hope he doesn’t too, but if he does, everything is gonna be in so much mess. SF for sure will invite him to cleanse his soul and he might become one of the obsessed believers and Sang Mi will be stuck between her own stand and her family. Gosh, I think too much on this drama. I might need to just wait and enjoy what the writer will bring in next episodes.
