Beanie level: Errand boy

Writer-nim, why are you making him the evil chaebol? Now, I feel guilty for swooning over his smile. I’m disappointed with Oh Jin Gyu’s character development.

Me too! It’s like they are taking the easy way out of this! The typical, evil second lead chaebol! 😒
At least last week I thought he had a chance to redeem himself. But even after being disowned by his parents, he’s only thinking of himself. It seems like he even forgot that someone is lying in the hospital because of his actions.

    4
    1

Why must chaebol has this stereotype of them being evil or selfish? I thought after he went to jail, he’d actually repent and they’d become friends again, but I guess I forgot about Ji Yoon’s mom’s scheme. I still wonder why she wants to “own” him.

      1
      1

I thought that too! Or at least I hoped that he would repent and come back to work alongside KS. I also wished that he’d help them take care of Ji Yoon’s mum and whatever she’s planning. But sadly they are resorting to the easy way out. Now he’s mostly gonna be brooding over Dan ah as he sees her working alongside KS. 😔😒
I think she wants him as her SIL because he’s rich..and I think his family is of a higher status than hers. So she thinks this is the perfect chance to get into his family. I don’t know how this is going to work now as JG’s dad pretty much disowned him..

        1
        1

But if he can manage her company, JG’s dad might forgive him and see the new side of him and might eventually take him back into the family.

          1
          1

I’m awful that all i could think in that scene was “gosh another pretty smile, i hope someone gifs it *sighs*”.
I really wish the writer doesn’t make him the bad guy, but after this episode i don’t know what to think.

I just watched a movie’s character dying in an elevator. We shouldn’t underestimate the danger.
I am sorry for my sins !

    1
    1

Yeah, elevator could be dangerous when it’s broken, especially when there’s fire. But in this drama, it’s funny because he’s from Joseon and before all that happened, he actually said “come and greet me,” which made this scene funnier.

I actually watched the episode. Kim Nam Gil made me cry I coudln’t stop haha.

I know right! He’s too funny! 😂😂 I’m glad that he’s the actor in that drama, if not, I wonder if I’d fall in love with Dr Heo’s character instantly. Live Up to Your Name ep 2 recap is up btw! 😆

Gangster Bong Pil is so much better than loser-whiny Bong Pil. I laughed when he’s surprised to see himself being so good in fighting. 😂

12
4

Lol this reminds me of that scene in the movie Twenty where a wimpy Kim Woo Bin realizes he can actually punch the gangsters and proceeds to hilariously swing his arms everywhere!

Twenty fight scene went down history HAHA I couldn’t stop laughing.

      2
      1

I knowwww!!! That weird mass flailing gangster fight gets me every single time! so many good gif worthy moments in that scene. Like the fact that the older oppa keeps getting hit on the same damn hand! And Woo Bin trying to cry/crawl his way out the door! And that initial flying kick that started this whole mess! I am dying!

Gangster Pil is so much more interesting than slacker Pil !

I tried watching the first episode of Live Up to Your Name after reading some good reviews and it’s official, I’m watching 9 dramas a week now! I’m dead. Ahaha 😂😂😂

Don’t be, because I’ve no idea how I end up being like this. I need to get a life out there, but dramas keep sucking me in.

Anyway, I think I’ll be watching 10 dramas when Age of Youth 2 airs. 🙈

But the problem of watching ongoing kdramas is that after spending 2-3 hrs a day watching drama, I’d feel so empty after that because I got nothing new to watch.

Don’t feel empty! After watching the shows, go to DB and spazz with beanies. Time passes very fast when hanging out at the Fan Post section haha…

I think the ship war in The King Loves is going too far as the viewers are blinded by their ship and failed to see how beautiful the trio relationship is and how they sacrifice themselves for one and another.

5
4

I agree. Everything each one of them does is not for themselves, but for the other. However, the shipping war is what is keeping things interesting because no one really knows who she will be with. Maybe her plan of not being with either is the ship? No one knows if the writer will be loyal to the book, but so far, to me, the story only uses the characters from the book, and the relationships, but the actual plot is very different. I just know that this writer (same one as Healer) is good, so I am looking forward to seeing the rest.

    1
    1

I agree the ship war is making this drama interesting, but I’m surprised at some viewers comment when they say they started to hate Rin and San for hurting Won mainly because they are in WonSan ship. And when Won did something that hurt Rin before, some of RinSan shippers hate Won for that. I mean, how can anyone just hate this trio when they’re practically the victims of other evil souls like the King and Song In? It’s okay to take romance part of the story seriously, but I wish viewers would appreciate more on other values that portray in this drama.

Well said. I’m enjoying the beautiful editing and cinematography myself and have never really been a shipper. I’ve never done it in American shows, and it was foreign to me, still is, that it’s done so much in these Korean dramas. I wonder why that is? Is it the romantically heavy hand that these shows get dealt? Like the most recent news of so-and-so dating. I’m like, *scroll down, scroll down, find The King Loves posts* 😂.

As someone who watch 8 dramas a week, I’m fully occupied with my kdrama schedule. I’m jealous at beanies who do the revisiting drama challenge and get the chance to rewatch their favorite dramas. I really appreciate beanies’ screenshots on all the old dramas. It brings me back all the feels when I watched those dramas. Thank you beanies!

The first two episodes were fun to watch, but didn’t really wow me. But this week’s episodes completely sealed the deal for me. I’m all on board to be heavily invested in this drama.

          3

that, and the character conflict for this guy is one of the best recently. he is becoming frenemies / comrades with Kang Soo while being the one Kang Soo is looking for for blocking that road. I am so torn, because he is definitely not really a bad guy, but… his reckless and selfish behaviour did do harm. I think since he is becoming honest about himself, then when he finds out what happened it will now be a bigger blow to him than Kang soo even. cause he was only starting to find purpose in his life.
what can I say, I just can´t help but symphatize with people who did wrong, but deserve a chance to improve. Does he deserve a chance? depends, I guess… really a great second lead character writing-wise.

    3
    4

He definitely sounds like an interesting character. I’ll try to watch some of this later today.

Yup, I agree. Hyun Soo’s accident happened before he tried to turn into a new leave. Now that he’s trying to live a new life, his past mistake (or carelessness) is haunting him. I feel so bad for both Kang Soo and him because their friendship is so great. I know he’s a coward when he denied his action at the police station, but I understand his frustration toward Kang Soo for pushing him as the bad guy as he was trying so hard to live a decent life when he got the second chance to live when Dan Ah saved him from his suicidal thought/attempt.

I’m looking forward how and why KS & JG move past their current issue. Here’s hoping we will get a great bromance.

Agree with you.. but at this point I don’t really care about his character.. as all as they keep giving us more of his dimples!!! but of course.. the next few episodes are slotted to be angsty and sad for him.. Sigh.

      1
      0

I feel you!! His dimples automatically elevated him to Oppa status! Lol
and right now even above Go Kyun-po’s character!

Strongest Deliveryman is the first drama that I’m rooting for all 5 couples at once.
1. Kang Soo x Dan Ah – co-workers turned lovers
2. Jin Gyu x Ji Yoon – not your typical chaebol & heiress
3. Jin Gyu x Dan Ah – chaebol & cinderella
4. Ji Yoon x Kang Soo – heiress & nice guy
5. Kang Soo x Jin Gyu – bromance with conflict

They all have good chemistry together, so it’s hard to choose. It was hard for me to like them in the first two episodes, now, I think I love all four of them equally. 💕

maybe they should just get a puppy and raise it together so as to reduce our 5 ships to 1. that´s the only way I see to resolve it.

    1
    1

Oh that would be a good idea! It’s easier because I’d only root everyone with the puppy! Hahah

The complicated handshake which ended in a perfect dab was delightful and I rewatched about a dozen times but my favorite moment was when they dissolved into giggles right after.

    2
    2

It’s really cheesy for them to do that. I also love when they giggled because of embarrassment they felt for doing something so cheesy.

I am so routing for the friendship! Jin Guy is not a bad person and I want to trust that he won´t sway from the new path he chose but the writer, I don´t trust the writer. a conflict this good has to be milked, everyone knows that. but… but… but I just want something like….
I think this show is mostly about selfish vs selfless and justifying actions with less than perfect “conditions”. basically, their deeds all seem selfless, but there is still another ambition in there. i just want them all to be confident and free undepending of the “conditions”.
