These are just so wrong in so many levels. Don’t tell me you had so many people in your production team, and no one seems to take an initiative to learn Arab & Muslim culture. *smh*

I’m not an Arab, but I’m a muslim who wears hijab. And this level of ignorance is just disturbing. There goes my plan to watch this drama.

      I’m an Arab + Muslim + Hijabi!
Exactly, not going to watch it now!

Im not arab nor a muslim but I’ve been living in the middle east all my life. It makes me cringe to see scenes like these. A little bit of culture sensitivity and a little bit of research would’ve gone a long way. *smh*

I honestly don’t know what they think of us, do they really think we’re like THIS?! LIKE FOR REAL?!

I am neither an Arab, Muslim nor Hijabi but this image irritates me to no end! Not gonna watch the show either! Korean shows really need to learn about other countries and/or cultures if they are gonna use that in their story-line.

I hated those fake Indian guru scenes in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, but this one just infuriates me!

I know! If you’re not going to put any effort to learn about the culture then just don’t use it!

I hated those scenes, too! He was a monk with a Muslim name, like what?!

OMG that fake Indian guru scenes. I skipped on those scenes because it’s so irrelevant and so unnecessary. 🙄

I’m a Muslim hijabi and I went hell no! when I saw these girls. And all the other things going around like the women curtseying when he walked past. Muslim women don’t curtsey and it’s not Arab culture either for women to curtsey. I feel like the writers just decided on the most out-there thing they could imagine Muslims and/or Arabs being and filled the show up with all kinds of stupid stereotypes. I was really offended and I kinda knew this would happen.

I have lost my interest to continue watching this drama. I know those scenes are just in episode 1, but I can’t really tolerate with ignorance. Plus, the humor is not that funny either. Shin Sung Rok is playing a cheating husband too. So I’m out!

I’m not a Muslim and not a Arab but felt uncomfortable watching these scenes.

OMG, I’m not Arabian but I’m moslem, this is kinda disturbing and inappropriate.

Wow this is so ridiculous and offensive! Wasn’t planning on watching this drama, and really have no reason to now!
Which idiot even came up with portraying them like this? And no one bothered to say this isn’t right?
This is ignorance, laziness and poor writing combined that shows no understanding of the culture!

It’s like they want to show women in bikinis, but wait, let’s make it more Arab and put hijab on their heads. It’s just stupid. I think we both got nothing to lose by not watching this drama.

am not arab nor muslim, but wow, this is just ridiculous.
    did they even do research?

This is way too much.. I skipped the beginning of this drama because I don’t think i’ll miss anything big. This is not the first time. I remember in K2 there was a kissing scene between Ji Chang Wook and Rania (an Arab girl which is a Muslim too) and that girl clearly wears hijab.

There’s also an issue with main poster with this drama, it seems like they put Muslim’s holy book (Quran) but it is in inappropriate position. I just saw it, now I feel so conflicted. I looked forward to this drama but they disappointed us from the very beginning. Regardless any cultures or religions, they should do a research. Not every matter can be taken as a joke.

Ignorance is not an excuse. We are living in the world, where we can get everything at fingertips. If they are so lazy to do a research, never ever try to touch others’ cultures.

Yup, I remember clearly those scenes in K2. It seems like they really don’t know why Muslim women wear hijab. Yes, it’s true that hijabis will cover herself from guys who are not blood-related to them before marriage and I was shocked when she took off her hijab right after K2 said that he’d marry her, and then kissed? It’s really stupid.

If this drama really wants to do a backstory of the character living in Arab country, the production team really should learn more about the culture. They should’ve learned from K2’s production team’s mistake. And I just realized about the poster! I didn’t catch it before. Oh wow, now I’m completely speechless because it’s a holy Quran. Anyway, I’ve decided not to continue watching this drama anymore and I don’t think I’ll be missing out much.

How insensitive. The monk in SWDBS was bad enough but this is terrible. Thanks for letting us know @hannahmustafa
