Jang Hyuk’s potential reunion with Han Chae-ah in Money Flower

Jang Hyuk is looking to take on a new drama series less than a year out from his last, OCN thriller Voice, and one of the strongest contenders is MBC’s Money Flower, a weekend drama about those who believe they have ultimate power over money, when in reality it’s the greed for money that controls them.

Jang Hyuk is considering the role of a character who grew up as an orphan, but rose through his own efforts to become a successful lawyer and the leader of the strategic legal planning team of one of the largest corporations in Korea. Both he and Han Chae-ah (Introverted Boss) are carefully reviewing the offer to be the male and female leads. Lee Da-hae’s name was initially mentioned as well as a potential lead, but so far there have been no updates on her status.

Han Chae-ah and Jang Hyuk have a history together, having worked with each other in sageuk Master of Trade—Inn 2015. They played star-crossed lovers, who had one of the most makjang-y relationships (she was his boss and archnemesis’ wife). So if they do decide to sign on, it’ll be interesting to see how differently they rekindle the chemistry again in a new modern setting.

MBC’s weekend drama Money Flower will air starting November, after Thief-nom, Thief-nim ends.

Well this pairing would guarantee I would watch at least the first few episodes, despite my skepticism about the writer...

Thank you for granting my wish today. I've been turned off by the non stop idol casting lately (shoot me).

Looking forward to November.
-Kim Moo-yul in "Bad Guys 2."
-Jang Hyuk in "Money Flower."

Mee either. Young blood idol is nice, but we need a balance here !

I miss Joo Won, Kim So Hyun, MGY, LSG so much haha. Thanks God Han Chae Ah got it.

But seriously, for steady big paycheck roll, Jang Hyuk is seriously mi/bi llionare. He is never stop working and always getting project.

I miss real actors on my screen. Lately it's all about idols. While I'm okay with idols branching out to do dramas, but most idols get lead roles too easily compared to actors who have to work hard to get a role.

I would watch if it's these two, and I don't usually watch weekend dramas. Any idea on the number of episodes? I hope it's 20, and not 50.

Either way, Han Chae-ah should get more lead roles, and Jang Hyuk is always solid.

He was great in Midas....that has a similar concept as u describe: "a weekend drama about those who believe they have ultimate power over money, when in reality it’s the greed for money that controls them." My 2 cents is that i would like to see him in a romance or rom/com. He was so great in Fated to Love You, I would love to see something as fantastic.

He was great in Fated to Love You - that laugh! I tried to watch Voice because of him - I stopped - too violent and too many eye rolling police procedure failures.

I, too, would love to see Jang Hyuk in something more lighthearted like PLEASE TEACH ME ENGLISH or FATED TO LOVE YOU. Or even WINDSTRUCK, which was hilarious with a poignant twist.

I really could use a sweet, unadulterated comedy right about now instead of another helping of corporate greed and conniving lawyers.

On the other hand, I respect how he selects roles that he can sink his teeth into as an actor. There must be something about this particular role that is getting his attention.

JH was absolutely terrific in BEAUTIFUL MIND, and solidly dogged in VOICE -- which I somehow managed to live-watch to the bitter end despite the blood and gore. I have not yet seen GAEKJU 2015.

I watched Beautiful Man and he was so good in it, couldn't watch Voice, so violent. Tried Gaekju but it was so long...gave up after a few episodes. So it's Fated to Love You for the umpteenth time.

It's Han Chae-ah's turn! She's solid as an actress and it's about damn time she leads a drama!

I would like to see Jang Hyuk in a new drama, but then I realized this show is a weekender. Dreading the long episode length. x3

If Lee Da Hae also accepts the offer too then it will also be a reunion with Jang Hyuk for the third time. They were a pair in Bad Guy and Chuno. They have great chemistry in both dramas.

They were paired together in Robbers (a good melo but rating sucked), Chuno (great drama and a rating success), Irisi2 (awful irriatating drama and rating again sucked). So they did three dramas together and I don't think they are going to have reunion for fourth time.

I wish to see him with Gong Hyo-jin again but I loved him with Lee Da-hae too, they had amazing chemistry in all the mentioned dramas but then again it's Jang Hyuk, he'll have chemistry with anyone and everyone!

Jang Hyuk Opaaaa!!!! Why weekend drama, why not a regular drama? I would love him to do a romance like Fated to Love You, but he seems to like dramas with a dark side.

I'm also wondering why a big name like Jang Hyuk is "demoted" to a weekend drama already. Are there just fewer and fewer roles for veterans like him?

I slipped back into my amnesiac state today when I saw Jang Hyuk Oppa looking so cool on this post. Don't worry, tomorrow I'll slip out of it and back to my normal self. Salute!

@yyishere

I dont think he is demoted. He is big name out there, and one of most (the only one?) senior actor that is so active never stop having project.

Weekend drama doesnt always mean demoted eventho prime time is having Alister vibe more. I thought Master Trade Inn was weekend drama too?

I didn't mean to imply that he was demoted...Oppa could never be demoted!!! *cries* I meant that 50 episodes is way too long and I tend to avoid weekend dramas because of the length and duration. But If Jang Hyuk is in it, hey, I would jump right in for the pleasure of seeing him in 50 episodes.

Your Oppa walks around with a band-aid because he gets into fights a lot! Expect to cry and be heartbroken!

He doesn't die.. at least we don't see him dying! The drama kind of had a happy ending!

1

He looked beautiful even though his hairstyle and clothes are dated and he cries a lot with his sweet and beautiful eyes.
He is sick (like most of the lead characters of past korean melos used to be). Story line is cliched.
But one thing that I noticed even with tons of predicatability older drams used to have lot of hearts. So even though you knew you shouldn't cry you would be unable to stop your tears. I think that was one of the reason of success of Hallayu wave. Today it's totally missing.

2

I'm not at all happy with this news. But there is possibility that the drama has shorter lenght. I don't see Hyuk investing precious six months of his year for a medicore project. We even don't know if he accepted the offer because his agency said it's one of the project he is reviewing. I'm praying something better comes his way.
A talented, good looking and extremely hard working actor deserves good work. At this point I've even started to dislike his agency. They have done good things to him in past but they are unable yo secure a good project for him in recent years. It must be painful for JH's psyche to be a part of useless stuff again and again. Because he won't leave his agency it seems it made them take him for granted.
