Man to Man: Episode 2

Now that Secret Agent K has begun his new assignment as our top star’s bodyguard, we’re treated to the beginnings of a beautiful bromance between the two. If this episode is any indication of what’s to come, we have oodles of wrist grabs and life-saving heroics to look forward to in the coming weeks—and who can say no to that? Not me, I say.

EPISODE 2 RECAP

At top star Woon-kwang’s photo shoot, ghost agent Seol-woo grips manager Do-ha against him, while a crowd gathers around them. Seol-woo announces to Woon-kwang that starting today, he’s taking over as the head of security.

As Do-ha gapes at the news, Woon-kwang coolly informs Seol-woo that he should let go of Do-ha. Seol-woo apologizes before flinging Do-ha away before grabbing her by the back of her collar, which prevents her from falling flat on her face. He holds the pose for maximum effect, then lets her go.

CEO Ji explains to Woon-kwang that Seol-woo’s a top bodyguard from Songsan Security Service, hired to provide some additional security for the actor’s upcoming trips abroad. Giving Seol-woo a once over, Woon-kwang snarks that he doesn’t want anything to do with Songsan, nor with anyone who wears the color red.

Do-ha grabs Seol-woo for a private conversation, where they start bickering almost immediately about the stunt Seol-woo just pulled. She says Seol-woo’s skills aren’t very good, reminding him that this is the second time she’s caught him doing something shady: today, it was pickpocketing; the other day, it was secretly taking photos of Woon-kwang and his team.

Seol-woo points out that it was Do-ha who mistook him for paparazzi, then wonders why she’d make that assumption when he only said two things to her: “Who are you?” and “You looked pretty.” Seol-woo takes a few steps towards her and repeats the two phrases, wondering which one led to the misunderstanding. Do-ha just blinks back at Seol-woo, at a loss for words for once, while Seol-woo betrays the tiniest of smirks at her reaction.

Do-ha shakes out of her stupor, then gets distracted when she catches a glimpse of Woon-kwang in the distance, looking out from a balcony. She hurriedly ends the conversation with Seol-woo by telling him he doesn’t have the bodyguard job just yet.

From his perch, Woon-kwang watches chaebol wife Mi-eun drive off the site. He looks pretty depressed, but Do-ha magically appears next to him and succeeds in cheering him up quickly. Their conversation then turns to Seol-woo—Do-ha doesn’t like him, but Woon-kyung says they don’t really have a choice about hiring him because he’s a gift from their agency’s biggest shareholder.

Do-ha thinks for a minute, then suggests a new plan: They’ll use him, but they’ll make things difficult so that he’ll leave on his own. Woon-kwang agrees and resumes his flirty banter with Do-ha, while Seol-woo watches the two in distaste from around the corner.

Sometime later, Seol-woo sits down for a formal interview with Do-ha, who’s being extra friendly and weird. After an extensive buildup to her first question, Do-ha starts off the interview with this gem: “You’re on a deserted island. You see a fruit tree. What fruit is it?”

Do-ha continues rattling off ridiculous questions, and though Seol-woo starts out looking a bit shell-shocked, he answers each question with conviction. Looking pleased, Do-ha says that Seol-woo and Woon-kwang are an incredible match, then congratulates Seol-woo on getting the job. Seol-woo just stares back at Do-ha, looking unsure of what just transpired.

Afterward, Do-ha confirms to fellow manager Sang-shik with glee that Seol-woo’s exactly the type of guy that Woon-kwang detests. Sang-shik wagers 10,000 won that the new bodyguard won’t last a week. Do-ha ups the offer to 100,000 won in exchange for Sang-shik’s help in getting rid of Seol-woo, and he accepts.

Seol-woo arrives at Woon-kwang’s house the next morning and notes the CCTV cameras surrounding the property, which are now feeding directly into his phone. Woon-kwang watches Seol-woo enter from his balcony; he’s on the phone with Do-ha, going over their plan to make life difficult for the new bodyguard. And as part of said plan, Sang-shik heads out, leaving Seol-woo with the unenviable task of waking Woon-kwang.

Once inside Woon-kwang’s room, Seol-woo goes for the direct route at first, calmly asking Woon-kwang to wake up. As expected, Seol-woo is rebuffed immediately. He then weighs his options and grabs one of Woon-kwang’s alarm clocks before heading to the bathroom.

Seol-woo rummages around for supplies and concocts some sort of a device with the clock. In voiceover, he narrates: “First note about Yeo Woon-kwang. He finds pleasure in harassing others. A total psychopath. He is tough on the weak and weak to the strong.”

Woon-kwang peeks around the room, then startles to see something that looks like a bomb hanging down in front of him. Seol-woo tells Woon-kwang to turn the alarm clock off within 20 seconds after it rings; otherwise, the contraption will explode.

Woon-kwang doesn’t move, convinced that Seol-woo’s lying. Seol-woo responds by repeating his instructions. When the alarm starts ringing, Seol-woo looks at his watch, then slowly walks away, counting down under his breath.

That’s enough to freak Woon-kwang out, and at the last second, he turns the alarm off. Woon-kwang wants to know if the bomb is real, but Seol-woo simply tells him that he did well in trusting his bodyguard, and leaves Woon-kwang yelling after him in frustration.

It looks like the crew is going to be late for filming again, as they’re stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Annoyed, Woon-kwang picks on Sang-shik first, then directs his ire over to his bodyguard, asking why he’s not working miracles to make sure he gets to his shoot on time.

As Woon-kwang continues to harass Sang-shik, Seol-woo narrates his second note about the star: “A spoiled brat who throws a tantrum when he doesn’t get his way. A spoiled brat will be silent once he is removed from his mom.”

Seol-woo tells Woon-kwang that there is a way, then gets out of the van in the middle of the packed highway. As Do-ha watches in horror from the staff car just behind them, Seol-woo pulls Woon-kwang out, then grips his wrist tightly and begins to run. Do-ha gets out to run after them, calling out to her oppa in a panic.

A slo-mo treatment of their run follows, featuring Seol-woo looking back at Woon-kwang with a little smile, and Woon-kwang looking up at Seol-woo in a daze. The two soon end up at the subway station and just barely get on a train before the doors close. Do-ha is a few steps too late and can only watch as the train pulls away.

Seol-woo tells Woon-kwang they’ll make it on set with eight minutes to spare, but Woon-kwang could care less—he’s too busy trying to hide his face, afraid he’ll be recognized on the subway. Seol-woo pointedly looks around, and we see that no one’s actually paying them any attention, which deflates Woon-kwang a bit.

Just then, two fans recognize the actor, and soon, the whole car is freaking out about spotting Woon-kwang. While Woon-kwang hands out autographs and poses for pictures, Seol-woo notes his third observation about the VIP: He hates both being recognized and not being recognized, and that for a top star like this, the best things are views, likes, and comments.

During a family meal, Mi-eun takes a phone call from CEO Ji, who says that they’ve hired the bodyguard per her request. Seung-jae, her husband, looks suspicious and pointedly asks about the call. Mi-eun lies that the CEO had questions about his new movie (starring Woon-kwang, of course), and at that, Seung-jae asks if they should invest in the film, noting that she seems confident in the project.

Do-ha finally arrives on set and is disappointed to see that Seol-woo still has his job after daring to drag Woon-kwang onto public transportation. She wastes no time making her outrage known to Seol-woo, but surprisingly, Woon-kwang stops her, saying he’s already scolded Seol-woo and that she should let it go.

But then he proceeds to fawn all over Seol-woo, nicknaming him “Guard Kim” and feeding him snacks. Do-ha watches this interaction unfold and wonders why Woon-kwang’s being so nice to Seol-woo.

The stylist and makeup artist explain to Do-ha that Woon-kwang’s impromptu fan meeting on the subway has gone viral, so Woon-kwang is in a very good mood. This doesn’t cheer up Do-ha any, and she shoots daggers at Seol-woo. He doesn’t shy away from her eye contact and just raises his eyebrow at her while he downs Woon-kwang’s orange juice.

Mi-eun reviews the photos of Woon-kwang from the photo shoot, stopping at one particular shot of Woon-kwang looking pensive. She asks her shop owner friend to change the theme of the photo spread to feature this photo.

Elsewhere, covert NIS operative Dong-hyun is surprised to learn from Department Head Jang that Mi-eun’s a source of his. Department Head Jang brushes off their relationship, then tells Dong-hyun that the infamous Baek Infantry, led by former NIS agent (now assemblyman) Baek, is after the mysterious wood carvings. Department Head Jang says Agent Baek has Songsan on his side and warns his colleague to be careful.

Cut to: a man dressed in black holding some poor guy’s head under water, attempting to extract info on the wood carvings. Over the phone, the man, whose name is SEO KI-CHUL (Tae In-ho), reports to Assemblyman Baek that he doesn’t think the carvings are in the country. The Assemblyman just tells him to finish things quickly, before the upcoming elections.

Assemblyman Baek then updates Seung-jae on the status of the search, saying it will take some time. Displeased, Seung-jae rebukes the politician for being so quick to kill the “thief” who hid the carvings, then cites the need for him to stay clean for the upcoming mayoral elections.

Assemblyman Baek responds that he knows better than to get his hands dirty. Seung-jae smiles, then condescendingly applauds him on his “spirit,” which draws a murderous look from Assemblyman Baek.

Back at Woon-kwang’s, Seol-woo takes a call from Dong-hyun, who shares the latest update on Baek Infantry. Dong-hyun warns Seol-woo to be careful, but Seol-woo just tells Dong-hyun to get the gear ready.

Do-ha overhears Seol-woo’s conversation and heads straight to Woon-kwang to air her suspicions on Seol-woo. She complains that she gets a “bad feeling” from him, and Woon-kwang reassures her that their original plan to get him to quit is still on.

Woon-kwang then tries wheedle his way into a late-night snack, but Do-ha shuts that down immediately, citing his strict no-food diet in the evenings. She makes sure all the other staffers are fully aware of Woon-kwang’s diet, then tells Seol-woo that they need to talk.

Of course, Sang-shik tortures Woon-kwang by having a mountain of takeout food delivered to his place. Upon discovering that his fridge has been emptied, Woon-kwang decides to transform into his onscreen villain persona. He dons a hoodie and fingerless gloves, preparing for the mission ahead.

Over dinner at her friend Song-yi’s restaurant, Do-ha demands that Seol-woo give an explanation of his actions that morning. In his usual poker-faced way, Seol-woo says he was keeping tabs on every passenger on their train, and that he was fully in control of Woon-kwang’s safety the whole time during their commute to work.

But to Do-ha, the real problem was that she didn’t know where Woon-kwang was. As she rambles on about how she’s the one who ensures Woon-kwang’s safety, Seol-woo pulls out his phone to check on Woon-kwang. He starts to laugh at what he sees, further infuriating Do-ha.

Seol-woo watches his CCTV feed in amusement as Woon-kwang leaps down from his balcony to make his escape, then asks Do-ha if she’s really in control of her boss’s safety. Do-ha just threatens to fire Seol-woo the next time he falls out of line.

Woon-kwang has made his way to a chicken shop and is just about to dig in—only to be caught red-handed by Do-ha. Desperate, he grabs a chicken leg and makes a run for it, leading Do-ha on her second chase of the day. Do-ha does a good job of keeping up with Woon-kwang for a while, but as Woon-kwang rounds a corner, an arm shoots out and pulls him into an alleyway.

Woon-kwang comes face-to-face with his bodyguard. Relieved, he attempts to finally bite into his chicken… only to have Seol-woo pull it away. Woon-kwang tries giving Seol-woo his best puppy dog eyes, which almost works, until it doesn’t.

Do-ha’s shocked to find the two of them looking cozy in the alley. She orders the two to separate, but Woon-kwang notices that Do-ha’s limping in pain. He immediately starts fussing over her, even taking off her shoe to massage her ankle, and that’s all it takes for Do-ha’s anger to melt away. This interaction doesn’t go unnoticed by Seol-woo, who gazes at the two intently.

Do-ha refuses to go to the hospital, so Woon-kwang insists on giving her a piggyback ride back home. Seol-woo just watches them leave, and when he notices Do-ha’s shoe on the ground, he gives it a little kick.

Back home, Song-yi asks Do-ha about Seol-woo. Do-ha grumps that she doesn’t like the way Seol-woo treats Woon-kwang, and as she thinks back to the events of the day, she starts to wonder if Seol-woo might be gay. Song-yi immediately shuts her down, saying she could tell that Seol-woo’s straight just by the way he looked at Do-ha.

Over video games, Dong-hyun asks Seol-woo how his latest assignment is going, specifically mentioning “that thing” that was nagging at him. Seol-woo says everything is fine, but then thinks back to Do-ha and Woon-kwang’s lovey-dovey interactions earlier that night.

Dong-hyun encourages him to get used to his current identity for the sake of the mission, but Seol-woo doesn’t think it’s worth it, since he’ll have to disappear post-mission anyway. Sad.

Assemblyman Baek meets with his hired hand Ki-chul, who asks for more time in locating the wood carvings. Ki-chul says he thinks the NIS has put a ghost agent on the case.

Assemblyman Baek gets angry, and yikes, his temper is no joke. Ki-chul takes the abuse silently, then kneels before Assemblyman Baek, who quietly tells him to do it right this time.

CEO Ji confirms that he, along with Do-ha and Seol-woo, will accompany Woon-kwang to Chairman Victor’s birthday bash. Do-ha’s far from happy at this news, but Seol-woo can’t hide his pleasure at securing his entrance into the event, even doing a little fist pump, ha.

Woon-kwang arrives on set for another day of filming, but he panics when he sees his co-star and former fling EUN-SOO lurking around—he’s trying to ghost her and hasn’t been answering any of her texts. He retreats to his van in fear, but perks up when Seol-woo offers to “take care” of the situation.

Seol-woo coolly approaches Eun-soo and asks her to stop contacting the VIP, which she doesn’t take well. Seol-woo then busts out his secret agent intel, threatening to spill the details of her latest affair to the media unless she leaves Woon-kwang alone.

Eun-soo retorts that she has some pretty compromising photos of Woon-kwang herself, but she gets back in her car and tells Seol-woo to have Woon-kwang call her. Just then, her phone rings—and it’s Seol-woo, with a cheeky smile on his face, telling her to contact him instead of Woon-kwang.

Woon-kwang watches Eun-soo leave in amazement, then asks Seol-woo how he did it. Seol-woo says he told her the actor likes men, commenting that the more cold and definitive the goodbye, the more effective it is. Woon-kwang laughs and the two walk off chummily, while Do-ha watches the two unhappily from afar.

Later, a reporter calls Do-ha with a tip that Eun-soo’s been spotted at the Sky Lounge, where Woon-kwang is a regular. The reporter says that if he can confirm the two actors are dating, he’ll run the story.

Eun-soo is indeed at Sky Lounge, but it’s not Woon-kwang she’s meeting—it’s Seol-woo, who turns all sorts of heads as he strolls into bar (because damn, he looks good).

Not too long after, Do-ha also shows up to the lounge and is shocked to spy Seol-woo there with Eun-soo. It turns out he’s there to get Eun-soo to delete her incriminating photos of Woon-kwang, but Do-ha smells an opportunity and snaps photos of the two.

At another bar, Mi-eun, her friend, and CEO Ji toast to the success of their new movie. Meanwhile, Seung-jae’s at home where he learns that his son is a fan of Dark Death, the villain portrayed by Woon-kwang in his Hollywood films. His son says he’s watched the movie a number of times with Mom, and this does not please Dad.

When a tipsy Mi-eun returns home, she thanks Seung-jae for investing in “our Woon-kwang’s movie.” Seung-jae’s expression turns hard, and he says to himself, “It was your movie that I invested in.”

Later, Seung-jae angrily races a remote control car around his darkened study. He mutters that he thought some “sympathy cash for the man she dumped” would be okay, but now, it’s not. Seung-jae deliberately crashes his toy car, then tells an assistant standing behind him to “fix it.” The camera lingers on a shot of the toy car, now on its side.

The next morning, Do-ha interrupts Woon-kwang’s makeup session to show him the photo she snapped of Seol-woo and Eun-soo. Though it seems that Woon-kwang’s warmed up to Seol-woo quite a bit, Do-ha plants a seed of doubt, suggesting that Seol-woo could come after all of his future girlfriends. This gets to Woon-kwang, who tells Do-ha to fire Seol-woo right away.

On set, the director expresses surprise at Woon-kwang’s insistance on doing his own stunt driving, obliquely referencing an event in the star’s past. Woon-kwang claims he’s fine, brushing off the director’s concerns.

Do-ha next confronts Seol-woo with her photo of him and Eun-soo. She launches into one of her tirades about how unacceptable Seol-woo’s behavior is, and while she’s talking, Seol-woo notices a suspicious-looking mechanic working on Woon-kwang’s stunt car.

Ack, that’s because he is suspicious—it’s Assemblyman Baek’s man Ki-chul, and he’s clearly fiddled with Woon-kwang’s car. But Woon-kwang doesn’t know that, and so he gets in and starts the engine.

Do-ha eventually tells Seol-woo that he’s fired, but by then, Seol-woo’s too distracted to fully process her words, his eyes going back and forth between Ki-chul and Woon-kwang’s car.

Woon-kwang drives out of the lot, but after a few seconds, his voice rings out over the walkie-talkie, yelling that his steering wheel and breaks don’t work.

Not wasting any time, Seol-woo gets into an empty police car, and Do-ha hops in next to him. Seol-woo peels after Woon-kwang, who’s lost complete control of his car and is now barreling down a public road. As his car continues to speed up, Woon-kwang is hit with flashbacks from an earlier car accident, and his panic grows.

Do-ha holds on for dear life as Seol-woo weaves in and out of traffic to gain ground on Woon-kwang’s car. They finally catch up to Woon-kwang, but there’s not much either car can do at this point, and both cars keep racing forward at top speed.

The two cars quickly approach a construction barricade, along with signs that indicate that the road’s coming to an end. Our trio sees what’s coming: Woon-kwang shields his face, Do-ha screams, and Seol-woo barely flinches as their cars crash through the barricade.

With the end of the road looming ahead, Seol-woo speeds ahead of Woon-kwang, then swerves right. After a beat, he hits his brakes and frantically turns the steering wheel, causing his car to spin right into the path of Woon-kwang’s car. Seol-woo pulls Do-ha into his chest and prepares for impact, and a few seconds later, Woon-kwang, screaming, runs right into them.

The crash leaves Woon-kwang unconscious but miraculously, Seol-woo and Do-ha seem fine. Unfortunately, the collision isn’t enough to stop the cars completely, and both cars continue to move towards the precipitous drop beyond the end of the road. Slamming down on his brakes as hard as he can, Seol-woo holds Do-ha tight and braces himself.

COMMENTS

I’m SO digging Park Hae-jin in this role. I love that our stone-faced top secret agent is actually quite human, and sometimes terrible at hiding his emotions. (How cute was that fist pump when he found out about his trip to Chairman Victor’s party?) It was great to watch him maneuver his way into Woon-kwang’s good graces in just a few smooth moves and ramp up the bromance so quickly. And though it may still be an act, I’d like to think that there’s already a hint of fondness on Seol-woo’s end for the top star—and if nothing else, the two of them together are pure comedy gold.

The only thing that bothers me about Seol-woo is his unexplained pull towards Do-ha. At this point, nothing we’ve seen indicates that there’s any reason for Seol-woo to give her a second thought. His mission doesn’t even involve romancing her, as he did in previous missions, so why would she be the thing that’s “nagging” at him? It makes no sense to me.

Speaking of Do-ha, she’s the character I’ve warmed to least so far. I appreciate that she’s brash and a little unhinged, and I know she’s the ultimate fangirl, but I find her complete adulation of Woon-kwang a tad uncomfortable to watch (and Woon-kwang is a total enabler, by the way). Maybe this is also why I don’t buy Seol-woo’s interest in her—she’s given me very little to connect to, so I don’t understand how anyone else can connect with her, unless that someone else is Woon-kwang.

This point aside, I thought the second episode felt a little more cohesive than the first, especially since our main setup is now complete. The show’s doing a nice job balancing humor with its more intense scenes, and while I did find most of the episode pretty funny throughout, I have to say there were a few jokes that didn’t quite land with me, like the way Woon-kwang’s black fan on the train was played for laughs.

Overall, though, I’m intrigued by all of the stories that they’ve introduced so far, including Mi-eun and Woon-kwang’s relationship. We still have so many things to learn about the two: why did they break up? Does it have anything to do with that car crash that Woon-kwang was in earlier in his career? What is Seung-jae’s involvement in their relationship? Woon-kwang is such a ridiculous diva most of the time that it’s rather interesting to see him react so differently to Mi-eun. In addition to getting the full story on that couple, I’m looking forward to seeing what else Seung-jae cooks up in his villainous quest to destroy Woon-kwang—and the secret agent badassery that it will unleash, of course with Seol-woo at the forefront of it all.

I agree. The show is very hilarious, made more so by WK's diva-esque behavior. I can't wait for the next episode.

I agree about the actresses screen presence! I think it is to the actress' credit that I don't completely dislike her character. It is my first time seeing her on screen--hopefully her character will get more development.

I feel like PHJ is having the time of his life with this role :D

All these positive comments have really peaked my interest in this show, but I've been hurt before (K2!!!!)

On a scale from epic action romance to biweekly hour-long subway ad, is this more of a Healer or a K2?

I like her character and I am wowed by Kim Min jung...she's doing a terrific portrayal of a character that is so against the Korean Drama heroine norm. I wonder if it had been another actress playing the role, would it have been quite as effective?

He's way too dashing - love the hair and sponsored shades.
No way a bodyguard in real life like that can stay incognito!

But on a serious note, I'm happy he found this role. Similar to CITT, he's playing somewhat a psychopath - able to lie, read people well, wears a mask etc, but this time round, they made sure to emphasize he's got good intentions and he's the way he is because of the complicated challenges he faces on the field. "Doing something good isn't that simple", he mentions in Ep 1 when seducing the European target.
But at least here in this role, he's allowed to lighten up, whine at his handler in Ep 1 when meeting at the hotel and playing arcade games/just hanging out with him.

He seems like a really normal, down to earth guy if he wasn't doing spy work really - maybe Do-ha and WK is stirring up feelings of him wanting a normal life. After all, compared to mafia daughter, these two are really quite as normal (well, comparatively. Not all of us are A-list action star celebs and their managers, haha)

He is better in CITT so far, Though I'm the only one who feel that. He is emotionless here and doesn't bother to act at all. All he does is pose.

I really disliked Seol-woo during the first ep (see his treatment of that European girl) but something about that stoic hotness keeps pulling me in. Ugh, Park Haejin you hunk. I agree with chocolatte though, I've no idea why he seems fascinated with Do-ha. Because she doesn't fall for the smolder? Hope not, that's just weird.
I can't really figure Woon-kwang out. On one hand, he seems like a total softie as seen in his interactions with Do-ha and his kindness towards the stuntman. Buuut...he also slaps his own manager and blames him for everything.
Do-ha feels like the most straightforward character in a show where everyone's either bipolar or wearing some kind of mask. Her entire existence is framed around the mottot 'I Love Woon-kwang' which informs her every decision. Though that sounds (perhaps is?) rather regressive in a female character lol. I like how she doesn't drool over Seol-woo though. Someone's got to keep that agent on his toes.

DH not withstanding, I have become a fan of WK as well. This is the first time I have watched the actor's works, but he rocks in this role. His comedic timing as the ridiculous diva is on point. I can't help laughing every time he appears on the screen. I can't wait to find out his history with ME and his car accident. There might be a sad story behind his diva facade.

At this point, woonkwang and doha have an oppa/donseng relationship (except she has this crush on him). Think reply 1994 with garbage and go ara's relationship.

I have only watched KMJ in bad girl roles (Thorn Birds, Fashion 70s (I think that's the one)..)so I am glad to see her here in a much lighter, bubbly yet still pretty tough girl role. I actually don't think she has a crush on WK, but as a super fan, I believe she just wants to see him shine and make him shine. I guess it is a different kind of love, you don't want to kiss him but you want to be by his side, be a part of his life/success because he is so great (in her eyes). That's kind of the way I see their relationship. He needs someone to be his cheerleader and she needs to be his cheerleader, but doesn't mean they are romantically attracted to each other. I really like KMJ here... she plays cute but with normal speech/voice and not overly doing it. I just couldn't stand PBY's little cute soft voice whenever she played cute in SWDBS. I like that KMJ here is to me, still pretty clever and tough.

I think he's fascinated because she's just so... I don't know, she does things just completely centred around her "oppa", she seems like a crazy fangirl yet she's efficient and genuinely cares for WK, and yeah, she's not falling for the smoulder, heh. (Reminds me of Flynn Rider in Rapunzel).

Yes to WK! He seems like a spoilt diva, but then he thanks the stuntsmen/the car serviceman, he's sweet to Doha... I think he's just a softie who's been toughened up by his past (probably something nasty to do with MiEun) and he's using his diva tendencies to avoid having really deep, emotional conversations with others.

The more I watch this show, the more I like DH. She's obviously a little cray with the "I love oppa!" (but aren't we all?) but you can tell she's decently good at her job, and I think that's all that matters, really. And yes, plus, I don't know how she's resisting SW. I would be putty at his feet in an instant.

Hahahaha bipolar indeed

I think it's a bit early for PHJ to fall in love with Doha. The show indicated that one of his main target to secure loyalty for his mission is the "woman behind the man". So at the moment it's Doha.

I think at the moment he is a bit perplexed as he couldn't figure her out coz she is definitely not complicated. The only complication is that she is nursing a deep crush or affection for our diva actor. And she seemed immune to his charm which would render his position vulnerable.

I think what his handler meant by nagging refers to her constant critical appraisal of him - which may jeopardise his job as the bodyguard, thus, the covert mission.

I personally have nothing against Kim min Jung as an actress. Its just that I am not feeling her character yet.

SW = cool and enigmatic secret agent
WK = complex diva
SJ = evil chaebol
ME = mysterious and graceful chaebol wife

At the moment her character is seemed pretty "normal" = efficient manager who is a fangirl. I can't exactly find her flaws or something particular unique or outstanding about her that makes me wanna dig into to her character. Well, hopefully in the next few episodes, we will get to see some unexpected things from her...

Anyway I can't blame her coz she is up against our scene stealing bromantic couple. And not to mention that the chaebol couple are very seasoned charismatic actors...

Love the subway scene. And the wave SW gave DH when the doors closed on her? Daebak! So cute. Also cute is SW's little fist pump when he scored the invitation to Victor's party. This episode showed a slightly different side to the otherwise serious emotionless SW. Who knew he would be capable of that little display of... emotion?

What I find quite interesting was Mi-Eun's slip up telling Seung-Jae she's grateful he's investing in "our Woon-Kwang's movie". For someone who's quite sly and savvy and smart it seemed like a huge slip up. And it has me wondering if she's playing Seung-Jae in that moment. Or if it's her way of rebelling that she might have chosen to marry Seung-Jae, but she will always have a soft spot for Woon-Kwang. And yes to Seol-Woo's short bursts of expression. That little fist bump was so cute! I still can't buy into his interest in Do-Ha. But I'm looking forward to him deciding that he's going to romance Do-Ha and get closer to Woon-Gwang for the sake of his "mission" only for him to end up sliding so deep, he won't know what hit him.

I attribute that slip to ME being drunk. That's why she wasn't as careful with her words to her husband, as she normally would have.

I think she was feeling vulnerable that day (with her being so close to WK and then him raging a fit that he wanted nothing to do with her/the colour red), and then with the added effects of alcohol... she might have just accidentally let that slip. Not a good idea, ME!

I doubt that SW is interested in DH as of now... most likely amused/intrigued by her odd behaviour. But YES! I can't wait for him to get closer for the sake of his "mission". Really looking forward to it, heh.

I think Seung jae had a hand in the first accident that destroyed WK's career as a stuntman. I think he did it to force Mi eun to leave WK. That's why she "dumped" WK - not because she didn't love him, but because she did, and was afraid for him. That's why she married SJ. She is desperately unhappy but she'll stay by his side because that's the only way to keep SJ safe.

A mixture of alcohol, rebellion and regrets contributed to the remark.

Probably she wanted to marry WK but maybe
1. WK wasn't ready.... or
2. She is also a ghost planted to marry SJ or
3. She found out Seung Jae wanted to kill WK if she refused to dump WK. He probably attempted to do so by sabatoging and causing his first accident....

And I won't be surprised if her son belongs to WK....

How cute was the fist pump? So freaking cute I had to make a GIF out of it!

I loved this episode more than the first, it was hilarious! The whole chicken scene killed me, the lighting in that alley was so like the kiss scenes from RTDK, Woon-kwang was being a puppy and Seol-woo was giving him his intense gaze, you wouldn't think it's all about a drumstick, haha!

I also don't understand Seol-woo's interest in Do-ha but maybe because she's so suspicious of him it's nagging at him or he just finds her amusing, her whole relationship with Woon-kwang is so weird so he couldn't help but be interested in her!

I find Seung-jae's character really interesting, like how could he be so evil and creepy with others yet so sweet with his son? So he knows about his wife's past relationship with Woon-kwang? I want know why Mi-eun left him, I suspect Seung-jae had a hand in that!

Thanks chocolatte for the recap!

He's intrigued by her, right? Intrigue is good. Attraction has to come next, based on the law of opposites attract, since they are opposites in every way:

1. He's got a freed forehead, she's got a covered one.
2. He's tall, she's short.
3. He's pale, she's dark.
4. He's heavy-lidded, she's practically lidless...those enormous eyes!
5. He's calm, she's impulsive.
6. He doesn't talk much, she can't stop talking.

The show did get better in terms of cohesiveness and editing. And as always, this show is damn funny. This role of Ghost agent K was tailor made for Park Hae Jin, no doubt about that. About his interest in Do-Ha, I don't think it is romantic, it is just an anomaly in expected behavior around him from woman and he is taking his time to process it and working on an alternative. I mean, seriously, I'd die right then and there if Park Hae Jin called me Pretty and she makes faces at him. Lady, how can you?? My rant aside, I don't think we are supposed to love Do-Ha right away though. But I for one appreciate how efficient she seems to be most of the times. Firstly, she was right about that her Oppa's choice in women, Eun Soo is bad news and she tried her level best to block it. She does seem to know her Oppa very well. Although Seol Woo teased her about not knowing her Woon-Kwang, turns out she was one step ahead and knew it anyway. Thirdly, she does seem to have some sort of working relationship that made the reporter give her a heads up out of courtesy. Yes, her behavior is unhinged but she has managed him for years efficiently. Also, Woon Kwang doesn't exactly stop her. That piggy back ride, to me it very much felt like a Oraboni pampering his slightly crazy yet caring doongsaeng. I want to know how she became his manager. Clearly, there is a story there. Mi-Eun is a mystery. She saw Captain Iron at least 10 times with his son, funds his films, manages his photo-shoot and is married to a shark in disguise of a dolphin. Why?? Also, her husband has tried to get rid of her ex-lover at least once before. So how and what exactly happened?? I still don't care enough about the actual mission but who cares as long as we get more funny scenes.
Also, whoever decided on that hair cut for Kim Min Jung, I just wan to know why?? She is so pretty, why would you do that to her hair, why??

I wonder if her complete unselfish (what does she get from this relationship? What??) devotion to one (trying as he occasionally may be) man whose loyalty is dependant on his mood (see: ex-girlfriends, making out with co-star in car) coupled with her utmost refusal to see him (Seol-woo) as a man may be drawing Seol-woo towards her....
We've seen that he constantly analyses and evaluates everyone around him, but we haven't got his notes on Do Ha yet...maybe because he hasn't got any yet. She's going to be a delightfully honest and straight talking enigma to him (hopefully!) So not attracted (yet) but merely intrigued, methinks.

Why, but I liked Do Ha though. I even had to change the site I was viewing the drama because all the comments were about "how annoying the heroine is" "omo how can she be with Park hae jin oppa" "I can't stand her hair and she is so ugly" "I can't understand her actions and she is so unreasonable" kind. I don't know why but I like her, though its the first time I am seeing the actress. I like the way he looks at her, like 'what's the deal with this woman?'. If at all there is a romantic aspect I don't want her to fall for him first.
I think the thing that nags about him is that she caught on to his actions very fast. Like when he was taking the photos, sneaking away with the ID card and passport. Though he handled the situations quite smoothly she also was close enough. He is able to win everybody's trust except Do Ha's. Maybe he is thinking that 'I am a professional spy and is it okay for people to catch up like this or is she more intelligent than it looks.??'

OR who knows, the actual twist is that the real villain is Do-ha and that is the thing nagging her though he is not realizing it. What if behind all these crazy fan girl image lies the actual villain about the wood carving case.

I don't think Do-ha is some kind of mysterious master-mind behind political schemes.

I do think there has to be a big background story between Do-ha and Woon-kwang. Sure, the way she sometimes acts can be explained as actions of a sasaeng but there's more to it imho and any way, it doesn't explains Woon-kwang's actions, the way he treats her and, well, adores her (ie the scene when she sprained her ankle)

Sooooo ppl seem to think Seol-woo is developing a romantic interest in Do-ha already?! Huh! Weird

The way I see it, he's confused by the relationship she has with Woon-kwang which is more than fan/star or manager/actor. Also? She's the first woman who hasn't fallen for him at the drop of the hat and that has to elicit some kind of reaction from him.

These are the reasons that make me think he's seeing her more like a puzzle he has to solve than anything else. Either for completing the mission or for his own personal interest, that's not even that important now imho. The point is, he hadn't counted on the fact that there might be a part of the equation he hadn't even considered cos he usually has everything under control and yet, Do-ha? He hasn't figured her out yet. Am I making any sense?

Like, when he kicked her shoe. Are you guys reading that as a sign of jealousy? Because I didn't. I think he was thinking along the lines of "I'm in the process of making Woon-kwang trust me, we're "bonding" here, and here she comes and interrupts us?! The heck?" But also "what is going on?! Why are they like that?". Same with what happened earlier in the ep, when Do-ha was cheering up Woon-kwang, and Seol-woo noticed that interaction. I didn't read that scene as Seol-woo being jealous. He literally said "What's going on?" He was so confused imho.

I think we didn't reached the jealousy part yet, it's more of as what you said, a puzzle to K. Basically, his ego's hit because this woman was never affected by his charms, which is what he usually uses in his missions as he believes that there is always a woman behind every case. Problem now is this woman seems not to fit the mold and is adding to his problem... what with her always finding a way to fire him! LMAO~

IKR! I can already imagine how jealous he will be when he actually falls for her down the line, but most importantly? I think we'll get to see how much he struggles with his own feelings because
1) he's a man on a mission and he just can't fall in love. Right? Riiiiiiight? *cue to inner struggles*
2) he's falling for her and yet he's also deceiving her and that'll trigger more angst and struggles
3) he might actually put her life in danger...it's not like his life is the safest thing ever

But I'm worried, undercover spy dramas never end happily...think of the dramas we've watched before: has there ever been a happy ending where both leads get together? It's always been BHAM! fake explosion, spy supposedly dies, girl is left to mourn, spy appears again elsewhere THE END. But this is a rom-com, so I'm hopeful.

0

Me too...I can't wait to see the romance blossom between the bodyguard and the manager. I feel that fissure of chemistry sizzle whenever he looks at her....he gives her different looks, sometimes it's the amused look, like he's laughing at her silently, sometimes it's the bemused look, like are you for real? deteriorating into a pool of mush in front of Yeo when you were Iron woman just seconds ago?

What i would love to see is him affected by DH, and I know it will happen later if not sooner. YOu are right @yyishere, usually spy dramas don't up well that is why I have apprehension for this romance, how well will he wrap up his mission and go back to DH and Wk... yes, I want him to be friends with WK in the end, the poor diva has no one except DH.

2

The drama is so good so far. I'm definitely loving Park Hae Jin as a secret agent who hasn't thrown away his humanity and emotions. That scene with the fist pump was gold.

I do agree with chocolatte about Seol Woo attraction towards Do-Ha. It just doesn't add up. I feel like they are trying to play the "she sees every single of his moves" card but it's not really well planned. If anything she looks like a fangirl who feels threaten by the arrival of a competitor and just want to erase him to stay her idol's favorite.

1

Required fields are marked *

I think whatever she's doing is perfectly justified, though... Think about it. So far her only impressions of him are 1) Paparazzi sneakily taking photos of oppa, 2) Pickpocketing WK's staff, 3) Turns out to be some "bodyguard" that nobody wanted around anyway, 4) Ends up "romancing" his boss's ex-gf, 5) On top of that, grabbed him and ran through an expressway to take public transport. I would say she definitely wouldn't have a good impression of him at all and has every reason to be snarky toward him. Plain blank, she doesn't like him (doesn't have any reason to either), and she's not obliged to be nice to him (we're all human here). I'm surprised that she's getting so much hate from audience, because I thought that she was adorable and that she was just doing her job as a manager. Oh well!

I think SW would have inspected the car except that she was straight out demanding him to leave/trying to fire him, though.

Same. I do feel she is a tad bit obsessed with the actor but it hasn't hurt anyone. The exact opposite she's a competent manager and the actor adores her. She had every right to be mad at SW he's someone who ran off with her client and getting involved in the mans personal life doing all that without telling her THE MANAGER when he's supposed to be just a bodyguard plus he embarrassed her in front of a crowd just so he could show off. Hes interfering with her job just as much as she's interfering with his mission

1

Required fields are marked *

I agree with all your points. DH is the manager, so she should be in the loop about any hires for UG, especially that of a bodyguard who has been unnecessarily foisted onto them, but she as well as UG have been completely sidestepped in this case. It's natural to not trust SW solely based on the above. In addition, SW demonstrated a highly offbeat first impression in doing a security check. I am not sure any manager would take kindly to that. So yeah DH has no reason to warm up to SW which is why I don't see her reactions to him as being out of line.

On another note, I don't know much about sasaeng fans but to me it feels like DH puts on an obsessive act to pander to the diva aspect of UG. If UG were a no nonsense celebrity and DH were to be equally crazy about him, I think she would be approaching him in a different manner. You can clearly see it in the way she goes all gooey trying to cheer UG up as he became pensive when he saw ME leaving. I think she clearly knows a lot of UG's backstory and actually cares about him as a person, idolizes him, romatnticizes her interactions with him but not necessarily loves him romantically (if that makes sense) Anyway, I am loving her wacky behaviour...she also has good comic timing

On the drama... I love how it seemed like it's slick yet at some other time it's not. Episode 1 terror incident was slick enough to be Bond-ish. They were trying to introduce a lot in episode 1 and i'm glad that we've settled in by episode 2. I just wish that they would be able to find the balance with the spy-bromance-romance-comedy-ish plotline. The show's been rocking it so far.

On K... how can not one fall for him (or Park Hae Jin at that)? I love his stoic expressions yet he get caught sometimes with those frown and a little naggery over his sunbae. I'd like more of his backstory tho. He seemed to just popped up at us as an agent. I think a little about him as a person would not be bad. Tho as an agent, it seemed like second skin to him, his looks and how he does his job is so convincing. Well he's not gonna be a ghost if he is not. (I had to marathon rewatch Bad Guy because of this hehehe) What i love tho is he is not presented as a machine like person or robotic but rather we glimpses of humor and a persona that is detached from his being an agent. I also liked how he deal with his sunbae, like he's just his hyung. Another thing... I like how he's irritated that his vacation is cut short with an urgent mission, seeing this made him more human and lovable, he's like, okay with the mission i'm Ageng K but when i'm on vacation, I'm just another Kim, Park and Lee...Kim Seol Woo!

On WK/UK... now I'm really liking him here. So much cute, with him alone, with DH and with SW. At face value, he's the classic superstar, selfish and self absorb but if you look closer, he's all fluff too and with some painful backstory I bet. I want to know what was his story with Mi Eun that got him staring with that sad wistful look long before her car was gone.

On CDH... her antics as a sasaeng turned manager just cracks me up. Tho i don't think the relationship ends there. There must be something deep with them two for this superstar to allow a hardcore fan to be his manager. At the end of the day she is just another fan girl and she really takes care of him and cared for him. She understands WK and he does that to her as well. I love how she comes up to lighten his mood at the perch.

On their relationships... SW and WK - the bromance clicked right off the bat, those little squimish are just part of the show. :) WK and SW pairing is gold. I'm in stitches with the fried chicken scene.
DH and SW - I don't think that the pull was unexpected @chocolatte said. Early on SW mentioned that there is always a woman behind every case. He had done his research and he knew that DH will be that woman since she's the...

I do not think he is attracted to Doha romantically in anyway. If anything, he is perplexed by her and her utter devotion to the star. Which, let's be honest, it is utterly perplexing.
Also, HOW ARE WE TAKING ANY ROMANTIC GAZE FROM HIM SERIOUSLY RIGHT NOW? We just watched him romance a girl, make her fall heads over heels with him just so he can get her father to throw him in jail JUST so he can break out a completely unrelated prisoner. That person is whom you're taking his 'you're pretty' and flirtatious comments seriously? C'mon people!

This episode's a laugh a minute and then it gets serious fast in that last few minutes.

I don't really think SW is into DH romantically. Right now their relationship is about two people who just can't figure one another out. Half the time he looks at her wondering what manner of beast he's faced with. That seems particularly true in the interview scene where she's plying him with unanticipated questions. She's too prejudiced against him and his usual charms/moves don't seem to work with her.

I actually so bothered by the scene when Seol Woo witness all of the culprit has been doing without getting caught, and Seol Woo is just stand there without moving, and worse letting Woon Kwang drive the car.
What he is planning up to? Gaining Woon Kwang trust by doing that? If he resolved it earlier , he wouldn't be in position where he need to make Woon Kwang in danger.

To be fair, DH was yakking so much it was impossible for him to disentangle himself from her. Besides, he wasn't sure what the culprit was up to at first. He seemed to be part of the crew until he veered away from them after he did his job.

Your explanation eill make sense if he is just an ordinary man. But he is aprofesional spy. He should be expecting all worse possible. Or maybe he doesn't has any human human feeling yet to feel the need to save Woon kWang as soon as pissible . All he think is complete his mission.

I don't think he was disturbed by Do-Ha' s yakking. he wasn't even listening to her properly. He got the feels that something is not right but he didn't act on time. maybe because he didn't expect it as being a bodyguard of Un gwang is supposed to be a disguise without much dangers.

Umm, no Do-Ha was trying to fire him but he wasn't even paying attention to her which is why he noticed the car being meddled with in the first place. He probably didn't realize Woon Kwang had any detractors who would want to kill him but this definitely wasn't Do-Ha's fault.

@gem28 the only logical of your explanation is if all this time his work is depend so much on his colleague information so he can't sense the danger Woon Kang will face. Means he is not a perfect spy to begin with. A profesional spy will sense something which even look the least suspicious. The culprit already make it so obvious he is doing something bad.

@missjb think of it this way. His goal is whatever those wood carving that nobody cares about contains. Woon Kwang is a movie star, not some political person or person who should have people after his life. He probably didn't think too much because that mechanic could be fixing a camera. Its unlikely that somebody rigged that car on purpose. Unlikely but not impossible. As for his spying abilities, he got caught by Do- Ha twice. His abilities are fine but his shield is at 85% when it should be 100% up.

0

He didn't know Woon-kwang was in danger, the guy didn't feel right somehow, he wasn't even listening to the girl, and he leapt into action the minute he knew something was wrong. It just happened out of the blue, nobody was prepared for it, not Kim, not Do ha.

I love that Woon-kwang is such a dramaqueen but despite that I feel that he is in pain and hiding it with his diva behavior. I would be lookinh forward to wjat transpired between him and Mi-eun.
Seung-jae feels like two dimensional villain so far, but his humanity is shown whenever he is with his son. (I'd hate to think that there may be birth secrets with that boy because that may make him completely unhinged.)
Seolwoo is just the sane center of this entire show. I love how he can seem so normal one moment then be on his spy persona the next. I like his camaraderie with Donghyun. But my favorite so far is his scenes with the top star and how he slowly ingratiates himself with Woonkwang. I see tons of potential between him and Woonkwang and want to see that bromance become stronger.
As for him and Do-ha, i see him as just figuring her out, and how much power she weilds to the success or detriment of his operation. I see his brain as one big computer, calculating and analyzing everything around him. His main focus for me will always be the success of his mission. There has got to be a MAJOR event to jog him out of his one track mind and let his feelings get involved. I dont see that it happened so far.
One thing for sure, I will be watching this show next week and see this story unravel.

Im surprised by how funny the show is to me. Park Sung woong is the best thing ever as the diva top star. He's just hilarious and I love how extra he is. Also, hurray for the ahjusshis in the show. Hope they get lots more screentime.

The heroine and her relationship with PSW is cute. But her crazy fangirl tendencies are well....creepy. Somehow, I cant hate her. Probably because of the actress?

Im just a sucker for characters who lead a double life. So the storylines are interesting to me though i couldnt care less about the wood carvings xD

This show is FUN! Comic book spy caper silliness and cute, doomed OTP. I say doomed because I really wish fangirl manager would get her star in the end, though I know that won't happen. Of course, there's also the ALWAYS AWESOME Chae Jeong An, and it's nice to see Kim Bo Mi getting some solid screen time.

There's only one complaint I have so far, and it's one that bugs the hell out of me in so many K Dramas: The absence of airbags. PHJ's super-spy would have to literally be Superman to be able to defy the laws of physics and restrain his passenger in the crash at the end of episode 2. This no airbags nonsense is an embedded trope now, many Dramas actually build story arcs around accident injuries that literally could not happen in real cars. It's annoying here because it made the scene even more OTT than it was. Full curtain airbags would have protected them both far better than his implausibly strong arm, after all.
Still, despite my persisting annoyance at this stupid K Drama trope, it's to the show's credit that it's the only real gripe I have. I'm just going to hope it stays that way, and we get 14 more entertaining episodes like the first two.

Yes I thought about that. Plausible that the airbags in a "movie prop" car have been disabled, but a cop car would definitely have front and side impact airbags.

On Seol Woo: Oh boy oh boy, I laughed my head off when they did the slow motion run on the expressway, with WK almost giving SW lovelorn looks as he ran along, wrist grabbed and all. Out with the angsty wrist grab cliches! I love how he's totally unflappable and they can't do anything to make him quit. By the way, did he turn that car especially just so he would be on the side that got crashed into (I believe DH was on the side that was going to be crashed into at first), on top of pulling DH closer to him? *swoon*

On Do Ha: Had a little conversation with @YY about how we both like her, and she just grows on me more every episode. To me, she's not nuts or crazy, she's just doing a good job at being a manager. Eg. She has every right to feel angry that SW simply grabbed WK and ran onto public transport (think of the possible negative consequences). Clearly, she cares a lot for her beloved oppa and she's spunky enough to give him attitude so that he doesn't get his own spoilt way - I say kudos to her for that. I've seen lots of comments on other places saying that they dislike her and I can't quite agree. Give the girl some credit, it's probably tough being WK's manager.

On Woon Kwang: I thought it was somehow surprisingly sweet when WK piggybacked her (granted she got injured while chasing after him and his chicken leg). It was an almost unexpected tender moment from him because so far he's only really shown himself as a divalicious spoilt actor to his other staff and a frightened puppy in front of her. And I'll bet the fangirl in her loooooved having oppa piggyback her, heh. I really want to know how she became his manager, and why he's nice to her? How does one snag that kind of job? (I need to know, LOL).

I'm also interested in knowing the backstory behind WK, Seung Jae, and Mi Eun. My only plausible guess is that WK and ME used to have something going on, but she must have dumped him for the rich man. He probably hates everything about her now. And her husband probably hates everything about WK, especially since she seems hung up on him. I wonder if there's more to it. They're playing a dangerous game, that couple.

So far, I'm liking this show. Nothing too... spectacular has happened just yet, and I'm not 100% invested in this wood blocks thing (but I can be, if it means more hilarious hijinks and swoon-worthy action scenes from PHJ). That said, I'm enjoying it, and I'm eagerly waiting for new episodes to be out, which is always a good sign. I hope we're going to be in for one hell of a ride.

I am with you on this. I don't get the mass annoyance at Do-Ha either although its fine, people are entitled to how they react to the show or character. So far, she seems fairly competent manager, very few out there in drama-land to be fair. I don't see why she has to trust or like Seol Woo right away. If she is rude to him, there are reasons. Her reasons are justified even if jealousy is guiding them in part but her suspicions have solid ground. Maybe, it is because of her hyper vigilance as a fan girl that makes her notice Seol Woo meddling with things rather oddly but she does notice them. He ran through a subway station with her client, was pick-pocketing and taking photos of them secretly and got caught doing that and then he was trying to get cozy at least from her perspective with her Oppa's ex. Seol Woo has massively made a spectacle of his secret hi jinks infront of Do-Ha, its only natural that she doesn't like him at all. Its annoying to us but it makes sense once we consider her perspective.
Also, Woon Kwang is truly a gentleman. I love how he said that Seol Woo was being rude to Do-Ha when he was trying to display his skills as his bodyguard at her expense.

Yes! I wrote a bunch of reasons in earlier comments as to why I think DH's anger is justified so I won't repeat my whole novel again but to summarize it: she has every reason to dislike him (pickpocketing/photography/running on an expressway) and is in no way obliged to be nice to him? I mean, we're all human too and obviously we know what it's like to be nice to someone we dislike - it's difficult. But yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion of characters, it's just that I'm surprised at the amount of hate she's getting. I think this is one of the first few dramas whose recaps I'm actively following, that I see so much dislike for the main character?

And ooo yes, WK gained lots of brownie points when he told SW he was being rude. I silently thanked him for standing up for DH as well! Imagine how embarrassing it must have been for her, in front of the whole crowd of people (yes, yet another reason for her to dislike SW).

I swooned too at the car scene...he turned his car around to protect her....MY HERO!!!!! and he looked so suave turning it with ONE HAND on the wheel and that frown between the brows! I love that scene so much I rewatched it over and over again!

I also loved the piggyback scene...it was so sweet, that Yeo just shelved the chicken issue and was all concern immediately....he really cares for her, she loves his concern, and the whole scene was so sweet. She saying, it's been a long time since I got on your back, and he dashingly answering, we should do it more often or something like that....so sweet.

The Do-ha dislike is something I cannot understand. The more I see her, the prettier she gets. It's the hair. She's deliberately downplaying her prettiness and making herself as unattractive as possible. That hairdo is so stark and spartan, so black and straight, kind of like her, a no-nonsense, hard character, who's clawed her way to the top to get where she is now. She's suspicious of everyone because she takes her job as manager way too seriously - it's practically her mission in life to protect Oppa - and her inflated sense of self is so funny. She stands out from the bevy of beauties in her world because she is so different. I find her so interesting as a character, she doesn't bore me, and it's refreshing - possible reasons why Agent Kim is feeling the pull of attraction toward her: opposites attract, and she is everything he is not.

I love those scenes you mentioned and swooned at them too. At first, I was baffled why Seol-woo didn't just veer his car and stop Woon-gwang's car because he had plenty of chance to do that when he caught up right beside him, but when he swerved the car in the end and spun it so he would be on the crashing side, damn, I fell hard. So so soooo cool!

I have no issues with Do-ha, she CAN be annoying at times, but I totally get her suspicions around Seol-woo, and I find her reaction to Seol-woo calling her pretty kind of cute. Most of all, I just love her interactions with Woon-gwang, while it may seem like an oppa-dongsaeng relationship, with her crushing on him more, I like the angle of their relationship and their complete comfort around each other. And when he forgot all about the chicken because she was limping, I was swooning too. For me, the relationship could work out 3 ways and I'm lovin our 3 leads.

Whatever in store in the future, I'm ready for the bumpy ride.

I like her and have not yet been annoyed by her character! I totally get why she acts the way she does! She's very protective of Woon-kwang and her first impression of Seol-woo wasn't really good, she's suspicious of him and maybe a little jealous too, he became so close to her Oppa in such little time, she can't help feeling that he's hiding something! And also, she's Woon-kwang's manager but Seol-woo doesn't listen to her and he acts on his own, I mean, give the girl a little slack, she's got all the reason to be rude to him and treat him that way!

"Seol-woo says everything is fine, but then thinks back to Do-ha and Woon-kwang’s lovey-dovey interactions earlier that night."

These parts are driving me crazy, because i don't understand what seol-woo is actually thinking. Is he attracted to do-ha, so he's jealous and kicks her shoe? Or is he jealous that woon-kwang is so concerned bout do-ha? YESSSSSS! Recap’s out!!!!!

Most Memorable Moments:
1. He lifts his glass of orange juice, takes a sip, and slowly raises his eyes to stare at her over the rim of the glass…that stare gave me goosebumps. I’d straight fall plonk to the ground if he stares at me like that.

2. He does that little frown thing between his eyebrows as he looks from actor Yeo to manager Cha as they do their routine cutesy back-and-forth repartee, as if he can’t quite understand what’s going on before his incredulous eyes, and it’s a new puzzle, something that calculative agent brain of his can’t quite fathom, because it’s so totally new. Lemme kiss away that frown, MWAH.

3. When Yeo takes off Cha’s shoe, and piggybacks her, they’re in their own little exclusive world, Kim Guarder is the outsider looking on, and he doesn’t like the feeling: there’s a tiny flicker of unease in those hooded, normally expressionless eyes at the closeness between the pair. It’s okay, Oppa. Don’t be lonely, you’ve got me. I’m here for you.

4. That silent fist pump – I LOVE IT!!!! He’s so robotic all the time in front of his “clients”, that when that façade cracks, and the human side of him peeps out, it’s so adorable!

5. When his eyes focus on the fake mechanic and follow, follow, follow his every move, and the girl is yapping away, and she asks for his ID, and he looks at her, coming back to earth momentarily from his distraction, focuses on her, and answers her very politely, taking his time with his words, so unhurriedly, like he has all the time in the world, “Later”…. I LOVE THAT SCENE!!!!! so so cool, so so handsome, so unfailingly, charmingly polite, even in a crisis, and then he swings into action, and he’s off, and I’m screaming like a crazed banshee, “YOU GO KIM GUARDER!!!! GO GO GO!!!!”

6. The end scene is so epic, my heart is in my mouth the whole time. And the moment when he turns, kind of uncoils that long lean body in his seat so smoothly, so fluidly, and reaches out and hugs her to him that split second before the crash – so unexpected and so heartstoppingly romantic - and everything just stills…the car is spinning, it’s just the two of hurtling to the edge of the precipice and certain death, but she looks so safe somehow, so protected, as he folds her in in that close comforting embrace, and then another totally unexpected and oh so awesome moment - he lifts his other arm, bent at the elbow, to protect her? bracing himself for the impact...strangely moving, that he would put his life on the line for her. I think it’s going to change her opinion of him, and she’s going to start falling for him.

This episode was awesome! Lots of humor and fun. I liked it a lot more than the first one. The plot didn't move too fast and now we're settled in with the main story. The action at the end was cool. Fast and intense. And the camera angles were good.

Park Hae Jin is sooooo fine in this role! Excited that the bromance has started so quickly between Seol Woo and Woon Kwang! ❤️

I haven't warmed up to Do Ha yet. Her character is rash and frustrating, but I understand she is very protective of Woon Kwang. It seems she cares for Woon Kwang a lot and has no ulterior motive. They had some nice moments away from the movie shoots/chaos. I'm also not sure why Seol Woo already has some feelings towards her. I would have liked it if the show had started revealing his interest in her in the next episode or so.

But overall, the drama has been solid. Can't wait for the weekend! ;)

Would it be weird to say that I want to be in Do-ha's place at the moment when Seol-woo just smoothly place her head to her chest just before Woonkang's car hit theirs. hehe

So agree with chocolatte and most of the comments here about how they couldn't relate themselves on how is our Kim Guard suddenly attracted to Do Ha. Do Ha as a character is even more irritating rather than the first episode. I hope her character would get better on the next episode because if not then I would have nothing to watch besides Chicago Typewriter until the next good show is around.

Is it me or is the flow on the second episode is a little bit too crowded and all over the place? I got a little bored over the politics scene of Yeong Jung Hoon and the old politicians.

Yes with the "irritating" comment. I know it's pushing for the hate-to-love arc, but her hate is forced that it seems that she annoyingly likes him as early as this - making effort to be noticed.

May I ask how everyone is watching this, because I understood it was Netflix, but we aren't getting it right away in the states. Some other place to watch..........
